Beautiful scents of peonies and lilies, followed by exquisite blackberry fruit combined with raspberry coulis and a hint of pepper. The fruit is slightly darker than the other Barbaresco wines from Gaja with a hint of spice and pungency. Excellent expression, vibrancy, freshness and charm. This wine is black as night yet purple in colour, with an abundance of concentrated wild berries contrasted by zesty acids that lift the expression amazingly. The 2013 is made for the cellar and still has plenty of upside potential. If you dare to try one of these young wines, I recommend opening the bottle a few hours before savouring it.
