“Campo Lusso” Cabernet Sauvignon Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2021 (BIO)
The small vineyard is located 500 metres above the Galatrona Tower and offers the best conditions for growing the French Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. Due to the limestone subsoil, this site is also known as a luxury site (campo lusso). Intense and generous bouquet of dark fruit, leather and chocolate. Complex and deep on the palate, very focussed and, with aeration, very elegant and aristocratic. A complete red that will not only delight Cabernet lovers. Only around 1,300 bottles of this spectacular wine can be produced per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby violet colour. Intense and compact nose, showing notes of cassis and blackberry, with mint in the background. Crisp and juicy at the attack and on the palate, equipped with dense, gripping tannins, flows for a long time, lots of pressure, dark berry fruit." Falstaff
"Packed tightly with blackberry, black cherry, cedar and oak spice flavors, this dense red is driven by vivid acidity, with tannins that offer refinement and grip. This finishes long, ending with a powdery feel." Wine Spectator
"The Campo Lusso 2021, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, is fabulous. However, the harvestshould be prepared to cellar it for at least a few years, as the tannins are imposing. Dark blue/purple fruits, gravel, sage, menthol and liquorice are hesitant to show. This deep, powerful Cabernet is very promising - it is wild and distinctive to the core." Vinous
"The organic Petrolo 2021 Valdarno di Sopra Cabernet Sauvignon Campo Lusso is characterised by a beautiful density and fullness, while retaining the elegance of the fruit. This Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon shows dark cherries, blackberries, spices, tar and camphor ash. On the palate, the wine remains light and intense, finishing with powdery tannins." Wine Advocate
"A wonderfully structured mountain Cab from the outskirts of Chianti Classico with aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, cedar and bark as well as damp forest and mushrooms. Full and multi-layered with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh and lively finish. Cabernet Sauvignon. From organically grown grapes." James Suckling
"The nose is fresh and earthy, almost primitive, with sandalwood against trodden earth, damp moss, followed by the warmth of redcurrants and cloves. The palate is lively but balanced, with ripe but carefully calibrated fruit and spice. Unwavering, assertive tannins that nevertheless feel inviting and are electrified by a penetrating acidity. This wine has always been something special, but with the label change, the younger vintages seem both more effortless and more exuberant." Wine Enthusiast

“Campo di Tenaglia” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2020
1,900 bottles of this 0.8 ha Cabernet Franc single vineyard "Campo di Tenaglia" (at an altitude of approx. 550m, mainly limestone) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. Impenetrable, dark wine with a bouquet of flint, crushed minerals and some chalk. The texture is rich and opulent, but always supple with a hint of minerality. Campo di Tenaglia is one of the juiciest Cabernet Francs we have ever had in the glass. Beautiful, long final and certainly great Storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Juicy, this red exudes black cherry, black currant, cassis and wild herb aromas and flavors. This has a light chewiness to the texture, with dusty tannins flexing their muscles on the long aftertaste. Shows superb balance and length, despite needing time to come together." Wine Spectator
"Intense ruby red, tending towards violet. Distinctly floral nose of violets and dried rose petals. Notes of wild berries, undergrowth, leather and sealing wax follow. The palate has verve, the tannin is still raw and slightly drying. Persistent, pronounced finish." Falstaff
"The Campo di Tenaglia 2020 is an intoxicating, explosive wine. The soaring Cabernet Franc aromas leave a strong first impression. Deep and layered, with plenty of intensity, the 2020 opens up wonderfully with time in the glass. Strong tannins give it energy all the way to the concentrated finish. This is a promising wine." Vinous
"The Tenuta di Trinoro 2020 Campo di Tenaglia opens with a dark and impenetrable appearance and full-bodied texture. The bouquet is absolutely packed with dark fruits, spices, smoked tobacco and mineral hints of granite or iron ore. The wine feels very young and has the texture and firmness to withstand a long ageing period." Wine Advocate

“Campo di Magnacosta” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2020
Just 2,100 bottles of this 1.5 ha single vineyard Cabernet Franc "Campo di Magnacosta" (a former riverbed with mainly clay, gravel and crushed stone soil) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. The vines were planted in the mid-1990s and come from Pomerol. In terms of aromatic intensity, Magnacosta is probably the most sensually elegant representative of the house's three great site cabernets. It has great straightness, but somewhat less power and intensity. It subtly combines black fruit aromas with spicy notes, tar and antique leather. It is already silky and elegant and will certainly gain in finesse over the years. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Campo di Magnacosta 2020 is one of three Cabernet Francs from a single vineyard at Tenuta di Trinoro. It comes from a warm climate and has an almost milky flavour with a creamy texture accompanied by cocoa, roasted espresso beans, sweet earth and lots of extracted dark fruits. This vintage doesn't deliver the chiselled pencil flavours usually found in Cabernet Franc, but it shows plenty of richness and powdery tannins." Wine Advocate
"Single vineyard Cabernet Franc that smells beguilingly of ripe wild berries, cherries, tobacco, chocolate and spices; mouth-filling with depth, character and powerful and elegant tannins, the final then surprisingly light-footed, with great length." Vinum
"The Campo di Magnacosta 2020 is a wine with depth and gravitas. Dark cherry, lavender, spices, sage and leather fill out the layers. There's great breadth and volume here, but also a good bit of tannin that needs time to soften. I wouldn't be in a hurry. This is a particularly virile expression of Franc." Vinous
"This red shows breadth and flesh to its profile, encapsulating flavors of cherry, black currant, tapenade, mineral and wild thyme and rosemary. Offers a solid structure, with dense yet refined tannins and a lingering finish. Delivers excellent length." Wine Spectator
"Bright ruby red. The nose shows distinct spicy notes of cinnamon, blood orange, bitter orange, cloves and lots of ripe red fruit with a hint of sweet spice. The palate is rich and has soft tannins. The wine is full-bodied and finishes juicy, persistent and elegant." Falstaff

“Campo di Camagi” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2020
Only 1,650 bottles of this 1.5 ha Cabernet Franc single vineyard "Campo di Camagi" (mainly quartz and limestone) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. Campo di Camagi is a very precise and focused wine. The high quality of the Cabernet Franc grape is noticeable here with every sip. Black fruits and spices are in elegant unity here and the full, racy body of this exceptional wine will only fully reveal itself in many years. Please be sure to put this bottle far away! SUPERIORE.DE
"A spicy red, featuring a beam of black currant and blackberry fruit shaded by violet, black pepper, iron and mint. Lithe and ends with a line of resonant tannins on the tobacco-tinged finish." Wine Spectator
"Deep, intense ruby-violet red. The nose reveals notes of ripe fruit, cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, followed by a slightly woody and spicy hint of white pepper. On the palate enveloping, with impact, present tannin, still young but elegant. Repeats the fruit and spice notes and the darker toasted notes from the nose. Long lasting, well defined finish." Falstaff
"The 2020 Campo di Camagi exhibits remarkable density yet remains medium-bodied in its overall structure. Dark cherry, plum, menthol, liquorice, spice and mocha meld together in a wine that offers remarkable richness and textural presence, with perhaps a little less aromatic presentation than some of the other wines." Vinous
"The Tenuta di Trinoro 2020 Campo di Camagi from Cabernet Franc shows a level of sharpness and precision. There is more oak spice with redwood and cedar, along with crushed granite and pencil marks. The wine is straightforward and brings great intensity to the palate, and it has the structure and acidity to accompany a long drinking time." Wine Advocate

"Dark, bright ruby red with violet reflections. Very intense and ripe fruit and spice on the nose, of preserved cherries and plums, cinnamon, a hint of vanilla and liquorice. On the palate with a dense fruit centre, gripping tannins and a long, juicy final that ends on fruit." Falstaff
"Very attractive flavours of plum and orange peel with a hint of lemongrass, followed by a medium body with fine, crisp tannins and a tangy and bright finish. The lemon character at the end gives it vigour and crispness." James Suckling
"This wine walks with a heavy footprint and broad shoulders. It carries its generous fruit weight with broad horizontal intensity instead of vertical power, and it wraps thickly over the palate with baked plum, blackberry preserves and baking spice over an inky dark appearance." Wine Advocate

"Dense, intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Very intense and fruity on the nose, ripe plums and some cassis with aromas of cinnamon and leather, underlaid with some cedar wood flavour. Very fresh and juicy on the palate with gripping tannins that appear somewhat young, final with fruit on the final." Falstaff
"The Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Campo di Tenaglia the wine appears the ripest to me, almost sticky in consistency, with chewy blackberry, spice and campfire ash. This is a full-bodied expression that prizes volume and textural richness." Wine Advocate
"The purity of Cabernet Franc fruit with seductive flavours of blackcurrant, lavender, orange peel and sandalwood. It is medium to full-bodied with firm tannins that are long, linear, fine and integrated." James Suckling

"Dark, bright ruby red with violet reflections. Intense and ripe aromas of juicy cherries and plums, blood oranges and sweetish spices of cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Very juicy and fruity on the palate, beautifully balanced with fine and densely woven tannins, elegant and fruity on the long finish." Falstaff
"A structured, dense and powerful Cabernet franc. It has notes of mixed berries, warm spices, bark and grilled meat, which merge into a full body with soft tannins. Intense and full of vigour, with plenty of volume. It is lively and vibrant thanks to a generous lift of spice and a long, concentrated finish." James Suckling
"One of three single-vineyard expressions of Cabernet Franc made by Tenuta di Trinoro, the 2022 Campo di Magnacosta is the most mineral driven of the bunch. This wine delivers a medium-plus mouthfeel, with tight and vertical aromas of blackberry, crushed granite and a hint of white pepper." Wine Advocate

“Vigna S. Francesco” Cabernet Sauvignon Sicilia DOC 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
A wonderfully concentrated and elegant wine that is already drinking excellently. On the nose, the typical varietal bouquet with light balsamic notes. Pleasantly straight and fine on the palate, silky and full of harmony. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. In the nose precise of elderberries and cassis, noble note of green pepper and a hint of ivy, in the reverberation of cranberry jam and noble spice, multilayered. Balanced on the palate, with great play between fruit, spice and tannin, also very juicy, on anise in the finish, long and complex, very well done." Falstaff
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Vigna San Francesco is dusty and floral in character, with peppery herbs and wildflowers giving way to masses of crushed raspberry. This is silky and refined, communicating pure elegance from the start, with a wave of ripe red and black berries that wash across the palate, leaving fine-grained tannins to linger under an air of sweet violet and rose tones. It tapers off much fresher than anticipated, and also only lightly structured, as nuances of blueberry skin linger, along with a hint of balsam herbs." Vinous

“Collezione Privata” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2018
Only a few thousand bottles of this private collection exist. Impressive, dynamic and radiant. Aromas of dark berries, cloves, menthol, tar, liquorice, herbs and grilled meat, the wood tones very restrained. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Isole e Olena 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata boasts luscious dark concentration with black fruit, grilled herb, crushed stone and sweet crème de cassis. Those bold flavors are followed by a 15% alcohol content that is gracefully integrated here. This is another long-term proposition for your cellar." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata is another stellar wine in this range from Isole e Olena and Paolo De Marchi. Still pretty tightly wound, the 2018 is going to need at least a few years to fully unwind. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, mocha and espresso are some of the many aromas and flavors that start to open with a bit of aeration. The Isole Cabernet has a brilliant track record of aging. I expect the 2018 will one day take its place among the very finest editions." Vinous
"Lots of blackcurrants and currant bush with some graphite and black ink on the nose. Full-bodied with a chewy and polished tannin backbone and lots of blue fruit and stones in the finish. Sandalwood and violets, too. Great structure at the end. Give this time to soften. Try after 2025, but will age for a long time." James Suckling

“Vigna Pianali” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2020 (BIO)
Here comes one of the best Cabernet Franc wines in Italy: bluish nuances mingle with ruby red. Blackberries and hints of roasted coffee in the deep bouquet, seaweed, balsamic and minty notes as the wine opens. Full and silky tannins on the palate with hints of violets and mint, flavour and freshness. All of this is carried by a noble excellence into a harmonious and persistent finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Vigna Pianali emerges from a small, half-hectare plot on especially rocky soils. It offers gorgeous textural density in the more aromatic, medium-bodied style that is typical of these wines. Dark cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, spice and menthol all meld together effortlessly. This is very nicely done and quite promising." Vinous
"The organic 2020 Bolgheri Vigna Pianali shows dark fruit and blackberry surrounded by curry leaf and dried laurel leaf. The wine is extremely tight and linear in terms of its aromatic presentation. It follows though with good length and a layered mouthfeel that is underlined by pretty complexity. The wine shows classical Bolgheri lines and is faithful to the character of the grape. Production is limited to 3,000 bottles." Wine Advocate
"Bursting with blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit, all wrapped in toasty oak, this red is supported by a hefty dose of dense tannins and bright acidity, offering interwoven accents of wild herbs, iron and leather. There's plenty going on; this just needs a little time to sort itself out." Wine Spectator

“Bradisismo” Cabernet-Carménère Colli Berici DOC 2021 · MAGNUM in gift box
1997 saw the birth of Bradisismo, named after the geological event that led to the formation of the Colli Berici. It is a successful symbiosis of the intense, concentrated flavour of ripe Cabernet cherries and the lively, spicy notes of Carménère. With its bouquet of small dark berries, spices, pepper and chocolate, it is a wonderfully inexpensive alternative to the great Bordeaux blends or Supertuscans. On the palate, it has a velvety texture, with a mix of dark fruits, cherries, floral notes and fine tannins that glide seamlessly over the palate. Deep, long finish and very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet reflections and a brightening rim. Intense aromas of blackcurrant, some rosemary and dark chocolate on the nose, underpinned by paprika flavours. Very dense on the palate, juicy and with present tannins, ending with spice flavours in the finish." Falstaff
"A dusting of autumnal spice, shavings of cedar and rose petal gives way to redcurrant as the 2021 Cabernet Bradisismo slowly evolves in the glass. This floods the palate with silky textures and a mix of ripe red and blue fruit that swirls across a stream of vibrant acidity. This tapers off long and staining yet only gently tannic, with a raspberry tinge and hints of dark chocolate. In 2021, the blend is 46% Carménère, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc." Vinous
"Restrained cassis, smoke, graphite and leather. Elegant attack with light extraction, a medium to full body, crisp acidity and a good finish that shows graphite minerality and dark chocolate. Ripe tannins and overall harmony." James Suckling
"As the wine develops in the glass it is like a vortex of red, blue and black fruits so pure you feel that you are picking them. Savory and sweet spices awake the senses as subtle black tea notes waft by. Elegant tannins that guide the plum and cherry flavors across the palate will cause involuntary smiles, while notes of tobacco, graphite and turned earth increase the depth of the wine." “Vigna Toren Secundo” Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2021
The single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon Toren is the only red cru from Tiefenbrunner's rare Vigna line and comes from a 0.6 ha micro-location with clay and limestone gravel soils: sparkling garnet red with a slight violet tinge. Very intense and appealing nose, with aromas of cassis, blackberry, tobacco and mint. Rich, concise fruit on the palate, mountains of cassis and cranberries, juicy and dense, builds beautifully with ripe tannins, long final. The name suffix "Secundo" was chosen for this vintage as there was unfortunately only a tiny harvest in 2021 and, unlike its predecessors, the wine is characterised by more finesse and elegance than the usual unbridled power and opulence. Limitation of 2 articles per customer“Le Stanze del Poliziano” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Classic Super Tuscan made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot matured in French oak. In its very dense violet-red colour, clear fruity notes and a highly enticing hint of candied lemons inspire. The flavour is very harmonious, rich and powerful, the tannins perfectly integrated, the spicy final beautifully persistent. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Le Stanze del Poliziano is dark and brooding. It smells of grilled herbs and exotic spices before giving way to dusty notes of blackcurrant. The texture is silky yet racy and tangy, with polished red fruit tones that slowly saturate, while a hint of liquorice and a touch of sour citrus contrast beautifully. The 2021 rejuvenates with tremendous length and structure, leaving sweet tannins and a bitter blackberry concentration that pinches the cheeks with youthful tension. Le Stanze del Poliziano has a very classic feel." Vinous

"Dark, deep ruby red. Great, expressive nose of cassis, mint, elderberries, in addition fine noble wood and stony hints, ripe red pepper in the aftertaste, noble spice. On the palate full-bodied, with radiant fruit, embedded in still young wood tannin, shows itself closely interwoven, in addition much juiciness, elegant drinking flow, still a child, still needs rest." Falstaff
"Gorgeous aromas of currants, flowers, bark and pine needles. Crushed stone. Full-bodied with crunchy and chewy tannins as well as fresh mushroom and spices. Dark fruits with graphite. Lead pencil. Fresh tannins that are vertical. Drink after 2027 but already so enticing to taste." James Suckling
"The 2021 Gabbro is another hugely promising 2021 from Fabio Chiarelotto. Deep, sensual and layered, the 2021 offers up a heady mix of dark fruit intermingled with scents of tobacco, scorched earth, leather, incense and menthol. Potent and yet quite elegant, the 2021 has a ton going on. It's another super-elegant wine from Montepeloso. Superb." Vinous

"Rich, deep dark ruby colour with a fine violet sheen. Very precise and clear nose, opens with intense notes of cassis and mulberry, some rosemary and thyme, delicate earthy notes in the background. Lots of juicy, dark berry fruit in the attack and on the palate, opens up with dense, supple tannins, shows many layers, spans a wide range, firm pressure on the final, long finish." Falstaff
"A tightly wound style, exhibiting blackberry, black currant, cedar, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Lively, with dense yet finely wrought tannins and a long, concentrated finish. Powerful, this remains within bounds." Wine Spectator
"Notes of chocolate-coated dark cherries and cassis with roasted walnut, nutmeg, cedar and spice box. Full-bodied, big and opulent with an array of ripe and compact tannins coming through. Toned acidity gives energy and juiciness to the dark fruit. Really polished and refined. Better from 2025." James Suckling
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata shows impeccable fruit ripeness and balance with a dark core of blackcurrant that is elegantly surrounded by spice and savory notes. This Cabernet Sauvignon embraces tobacco and baking chocolate. It delivers rich texture that needs a few more years in the bottle to soften. It also shows a balanced 15% alcohol that goes relatively unnoticed." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata is one of the very finest vintages of the Isole e Olena Cabernet Sauvignon I have ever tasted, and I have had the good fortune to taste them all. Deep and unctuous, yet also full of Chianti Classico vibrancy, the Cabernet is breathtaking in its grandeur. Dark blue/purplish fruit, gravel, crushed rocks, incense, dried herbs and mocha saturate the palate. Deep and layered through to the finish, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is fantastic." Vinous

“Habemus Etichetta Rossa” Rosso Lazio IGT 2019
Emanuele Pangrazi is probably Lazio's most ambitious winemaker at the moment. With his extreme planting density and radical yield restriction, he is following a path that is trend-setting for Lazio. After he had fundamentally analysed his terroir and also the climatic conditions, it was clear to him in 2006 that he would plant mainly French grape varieties here according to the principle of the great wines of the Rhone. In addition to his famous Cuvée Habemus (Etichetta Bianca) and the San Giovenale Rosso (assemblage from two vintages of Habemus), he also vinifies four single-varietal Habemus wines, but these are absolutely small.
Habemus Etichetta Rossa, with a production volume of approx. 1,000 bottles, is a pure Cabernet Franc of the absolute extra class. Deep dark ruby red. The bouquet is broad, complex and elegant with a balsamic carpet of graphite, cinchona bark, blood orange and rhubarb. As it progresses, notes of Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices and cherries open up. The palate is full, punchy and warm, the tannins are silky and the alcohol fully integrated. On the finish, those beguiling balsamic notes and sweet spices reappear. If you have patience, you will be richly rewarded with this rare exceptional wine! SUPERIORE.DE

“Collezione Privata” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2020
Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata opens beautifully, showing a rich but balanced concentration and generous aromas of dark fruits, plums, exotic spices and fragrant cedar. Opens generously and shows a fluid and steady evolution of flavours that start with tart fruits and forest floor and later develop into the soft and sensual flavours described above. The tannins are finely woven into the greater fibre of the wine, providing support without any sharpness. The overall drinking experience is seamless and smooth. Only a few thousand bottles of this private collection exist. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata is another stunning wine from the Paolo de Marchi era at Isole e Olena. It offers tons of varietal character, vertical structure and class to burn. It is also a very, very young wine to bury in the deepest corner of the cellar. Dark red-toned fruit, dried flowers, leather, menthol and rose petal all soar out of the glass. It's a reminder of how magical the 2020 harvest was here. Readers lucky enough to find it will be thrilled." Vinous

“L’Franc******" Rosso s.a. (2016)
Just 500 bottles come onto the market, if Luca even decides to present this single-varietal Cabernet Franc to the public. And if he does, this red is certainly one of the world's best Cabernet Francs. Deep dark, almost black ruby. In the bouquet a large aroma spectrum of black and red berries, intense and beguiling, rounded off by a fine spicy note with white pepper and some sandalwood. On the palate, very fine tannin, complex red-fruity notes and again this terroir-influenced mineral-salty note in the seemingly endless finish. Cabernet lovers will be delighted with this impressive masterpiece. SUPERIORE.DE
"Early vintages of this Cabernet Franc - such as 2006 and 2007 - were good but not exceptional, but in recent years it has come into its own. Unlike the Lessona wines, it exhibits ample but not dominant oak, with flavours of blackcurrant and mint. It's rich and spicy but also fresh and luminous, although it does tail off slightly on the finish." Decanter

“Paleo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Paleo Rosso - unmistakable Cabernet Franc and one of Bolgheri's most important wines, full of elegance and class. The name is unspectacularly derived from a weed that has long since been removed from the vineyards of Le Macchiole. Rich ruby red colour with violet reflections. Mint, white pepper, blackberry fruit and a hint of pomegranate on the nose. Finely melting on the palate with hints of tobacco and poppy seeds. Wonderfully structured and with a long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"A rich bouquet, characterised by hints of iron, which combine with ethereal medicinal notes to create a recognisable signature. Tobacco, fir wood and dark herbs characterise the distinctive expression of this top wine. On the palate, it is gripping with an elegant structure, emphasising an expressive yet subtle spiciness, a real spicy orgy of exotic spices, cardamom, cloves and slightly smoky peppers. Cabernet Franc at its finest, eternally salty and savoury aftertaste. Great cinema." Weinwisser
"Intensely reflective ruby-purple colour. Opens on the nose with pronounced spicy notes of graphite and cedar, then black cherry, dark currants and white pepper. Grippy, gripping tannins characterise the palate, dark fruit components, with an emphatically spicy final." Falstaff
"Precise, with accents of herbs and peppers in the blackcurrant, black olive, iron and tobacco flavours. Shows subliminal vanilla and spice elements from the discreet use of new oak, which unfold with harmony and finesse on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Lots of black berries and black olives with blackcurrants and rosemary. Full-bodied, chewy and rich with intense tannins and a long, powerful finish. Muscular and taut." James Suckling
"Its aroma is a heady combination of leafy and cedar scents, saturated with vibrant graphite minerality, citrus fruit and liquorice depth. On the palate, this is supported by tremendous extraction and power, with firm, oaky tannins and a graphite aftertaste of astonishing elegance." Decanter
"The Le Macchiole 2020 Paleo is one of the best Cabernet Francs in Italy. It is very dense and richly concentrated, with an amount of dark fruit that can only be broken down by slow maturation in the cellar. Paleo is always a wine for the long haul. The oak needs time to integrate and focus. Even at this young stage, the quality of the tannins and the precise ripeness of the fruit are convincing. A hint of sweet cherry, exotic spice and dark chocolate ensure a long finish." Wine Advocate
"The Paleo Rosso 2020 is noble, elegant and wonderfully polished. Crushed flowers, spices and blood orange lend it brightness. The Paleo Rosso impresses with its medium-bodied structure and offers great depth. It has performed very well in the past. I assume that this will also be the case here, as the 2020 radiates balance from start to finish. The 2020 matured for 18 months in 100% French oak and 5% of the wine was aged in amphorae." Vinous
"A firework of pepper lights up the nose, from black pepper to green peppercorns and hot chilli. Undertones of flint and leather intensify the spiciness, while flavours of raspberry jam and vanilla provide balance. On the palate, the spiciness remains, with biting, assertive acidity, but a sweetness lingers, and a finish of chilli and chocolate ties it all together. Transcendent." Wine Enthusiast

Mint, white pepper, blackberry fruit and a hint of pomegranate on the nose. Finely melting on the palate with hints of tobacco and poppy seeds. Wonderfully structured and with a long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, dark ruby-red centre with a fine rim. Pronounced nose of black cherry and blueberry, sweet tobacco, marzipan and fine woody spice. Polished on the palate, dense fruit in the centre on tightly woven tannins, full-bodied finish." Falstaff
"Cabernet Franc in purezza with a spicy-intense nose of blackberries and herbs, pepper and undergrowth; pithy in the mouth, the tannins robust, lots of character and great length on blackcurrants, blood oranges, spices. Still needs to mature." Vinum
"Mint, bell pepper and vanilla accents frame the core of blackberry and black currant flavors in this supple red, which feels open, despite the dense, assertive tannins that leave a pleasant astringency on the finish. Shows fine length." Wine Spectator
"Wow. This is very polished and sophisticated with currant, spice, fresh-herb and cedar character that goes on for minutes on the finish. The tannins are so refined yet muscular, with form and tension. Give this time to soften and come around, but a very serious red by all accounts. Small percentage of amphora aging." James Suckling
"The 2021 Paleo is especially tight, intense and direct. These are characteristics of the vintage and of the house style. I tasted this vintage from barrel two years ago, and my remark was that the wine focuses on red and purple fruits as well as the black ones. This remains true now that the wine is in bottle. Those fruit tones cede to a floral interlude of heritage rose that leads to mulled spice and Turkish coffee. The 2021 vintage is slightly curbed or streamlined in terms of mouthfeel, holding back just a bit for extra tension and extremely elegant results." Wine Advocate
"The 2021 Paleo Rosso (Cabernet Franc) soars out of the glass with high-toned Franc aromatics. Crushed red-toned fruit, blood orange, espresso, mocha, licorice and exotic spice infuse the palate with a notable textural intensity that builds over time. Paleo Rosso typically needs a few years in bottle to blossom. I expect that will be the case here as well. It’s an impressive wine from Le Macchiole." Vinous
"Like all of the wines of Le Macchiole, the 2021 Paleo is coursing with energy, exuding a self-assured confidence that makes it stand out even in a category of wines that are defined by their unabashed bravado. It's interesting that this seems to have sometimes played against its favor in critical reception, even as other much brawnier wines have been more lauded, but as Machiavelli said, if you can't be both feared and loved, better to be feared. And this is a fearsome, awe-inspiring wine indeed." Wine Enthusiast
"Le Macchiole's iconic Paleo has evolved from a Bordeaux-style blend into a unique single-variety expression of Tuscany's coastline. In the glass it's sublime, showing wild blackberries, blood orange, black cherry and thick herbal shrub characters. Lilting wild flowers, bitter chocolate and espresso balance nicely alongside dusty tannins. It's a thinking, fireside wine with impressive ageing potential." Decanter

Sammarco, made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with unmistakable Tuscan roots, shines with a ripe fruit bouquet and aromas of green pepper, leather and a hint of herbal spice. The flavour is solid and the crisp tannins are perfectly integrated into the powerful structure. A grandiose pleasure that expands and intensifies into the long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium, bright ruby red colour with a slightly lighter rim. Redcurrant, cranberry and fine herbal aromas on the nose, with a fleshy aftertaste. Pleasantly fresh and juicy on the palate with gripping and youthful tannins and a powerful finish that will benefit from further ageing." Falstaff
"The 2020 Sammarco is elegant and polished to the core. Crushed flowers, red-toned fruit, spice, rose petals and a kick of blood orange are some of the many notes that grace this understated, beautifully refined edition of Sammarco. Bright acids pull it all together on the creamy, resonant finish. The blend is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 3% Sangiovese. The Merlot adds some mid-palate creaminess that is quite attractive." Vinous
"The Castello dei Rampolla 2020 Sammarco is a celebrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese from beautiful Panzano in Chianti. This is an abundant and explosive expression that delivers beautiful intensity with sharp black fruits backed by a mineral or metallic note of iron ore or rusty nail. The wine remains very focused and direct over a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel with velvety tannins." Wine Advocate
"Very attractive aromas of dark chocolate, kirsch and dried raspberries with hints of anisette, dried orange peel and cedar. Medium- to full-bodied, long and persistent. It shows firm and chewy tannin and deep, succulent fruit. Broad and persistent. Best from 2028." James Suckling

SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, impenetrable ruby colour. Dense and appealing nose with dark berry fruit, cassis and blackberry, plus spicy notes with hints of cardamom and eucalyptus. Very good presence on the palate, lots of berry fruit here too, then opens up with very well-placed, grippy tannins, spans a wide arc, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
