“Tre Torri” Rosato Carignano del Sulcis DOC 2023
Aromas of redcurrants, cherries, dried herbs, stones and cream. Medium-bodied with a round and soft mouthfeel. A successful, aromatic rosato with a spicy, cherry flavour and a pleasantly fresh finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense cherry pink colour with a brightening rim. Discreet and delicate on the nose, of lemon zest and red grapefruit. Juicy on the palate, carried by taut acidity through to the medium-long finish." Falstaff
"The nose is warm and summery, with aromas of cherries, strawberries, watermelon candy and peach, while the palate brings a fresher, slightly sour blast of cherry and a hot, salty current of acid." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2023 Rosato Tre Torri, 100% Carignano, is extremely charming. It is ruby red in colour in the glass and captivates from start to finish with its lively cherry berry fruit and the juiciness of blood orange. A hint of dusty, peppery tannin emerges towards the end and leaves you with the feeling of having eaten a slice of watermelon at a picnic table on a hot day - the juice runs down your chin. This is summer in a glass." Vinous

“Is Solinas” Carignano del Sulcis Riserva DOC 2020
The barrique-aged Is Solinas, which was vinified for the first time as a Riserva from 100% Carignano in the 2014 vintage, is remarkable. The palate reveals an astonishing fullness of extract, dense, soft, harmonious, complex and long-lasting. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, ruby-red centre with a brightening rim. Warm and inviting on the nose with savoury fruit of plums and cranberries, plus black olive paste. The fruit also takes centre stage on the palate, with firm tannins, juicy and fresh through to the finish." Falstaff
"Lively and silky, this juicy red reveals a beam of raspberry coulis flavours. Finely balanced, with good weight and focus on the palate, yet light on its feet. It offers an underpinning of fresh loamy earth and details of dried lavender, milk chocolate, ground aniseed and pepper that add complexity and linger on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Slate and dried berries with undertones of walnut, bark and mushrooms. Full-bodied and multi-layered with plenty of fruit and intensity. Juicy tannins and chewy texture, but it's polished and very pretty. Better in a year or two, but already excellent now." James Suckling

Carignano is a worldwide grape variety that is known by various synonyms. It is shrouded in legend in Sardinia, where it is said that it was brought to Sardinia by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BC. There's no proof of that, though. The variety probably comes from Spain, where it is known as Mazuela or Cariñena and has contributed significantly to the success of Priorat wines.
Cariñena – mazuela – Carignano.
In Italy it is mainly located in the southwest of Sardinia, around Carbonia and the island of Sant'Antioco. This DOC for red wine and rosato is called Carignano del Sulcis, after the nearby famous archaeological Parco del Sulcis. The legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis, who has made the variety known, is the "Terre Brune" Carignano del Sulcis Superiore DOC from 100% Carignano made one of the best and most sought after red wines of Sardinia. Also the collaboration of Sassicaia & Santadi under the label Punica brought with the "Barrua" a Carignano dominated Isole dei Nuraghi IGT, which has won almost all Italian and international top awards in recent years. In the rest of Sardinia, Carignano is often found as a cuvée partner, for example in Mandrolisai, where he is married to Bovale Sarde and Monica Nera, or Campidano di Terralba, in some Cannonau di Sardegna and in the coveted Isola dei Nuraghi. Carignano is rarely found on the Italian mainland, for example in Lazio, where it is occasionally cultivated in the Cerveteri. SUPERIORE.DE
