“50 & 50” Avignonesi e Capannelle Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
50 & 50 - Tuscan cult wine made from 50 per cent Merlot from Avignonesi and 50 per cent Sangiovese from Capannelle. Bright ruby colour with a fine garnet rim. Elegant, very elegant nose with clear notes of ripe cherries, some blackberry, wonderfully balanced. Full-bodied on the palate, shows plenty of fruit, then develops a densely structured tannin, long final with subtle tobacco and pomegranate notes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of red fruit, cedar, mushrooms and bark follow through to a full body with layers of tannins and a fruity and crunchy finish. Medium- to full-bodied. Dense and layered with lots going on. A blend of 50% merlot (Avignonese) and 50% sangiovese (Capannelle)This needs three or four years to come together." James Suckling

“Franchetti” Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2022
Franchetti Rosso is Passopisciaro's flagship and a breathtakingly perfect wine. The grapes come from vineyards 1000 metres above sea level in the north of Etna, where the soils consist of ash and pumice. Franchetti is a ripe, exotic wine that envelops the palate with dark fruit flavours. Refined tannins support the fruit, while an intense inner sweetness lends elegance and finesse. A thoroughly outstanding wine with wonderful development potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, impenetrable ruby colour, deep dark. Shows rich notes of blueberry and mulberry on the nose, also some cassis, cloves and smoke in the background. Lots of dark fruit on the palate too, then opens up with fine tannins, builds for a long time, pithy and with firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Purplish in the glass, this wine displays restrained black fruit with blueberries and soft pepperiness. The palate is very savory, with generous but fresh fruitiness, chewy tannins and refreshing acidity. Very crunchy overall, with a medium body and a warming finish." James Suckling
"The 2022 Franchetti is dark and brooding in the glass as mentholated herbs and white smoke give way to dried blackberries, earth tones and a hint of white pepper. This is velvety and supple, enveloping the palate with a cloak of ripe red and black fruits as a growing tension develops beneath the surface, mixing salty minerals with fine tannins. Brilliant acidity maintains fantastic balance as the 2022 finishes spicy and long. There’s a classic feel to its structural components, closing with an air of violet inner florals. In 2022, the Franchetti is a blend of 70% Petit Verdot and 30% Cesanese d’Affile." Vinous
"From Petit Verdot and Cesanese d'Affile grown in contrada Guardiola, Franchetti 2022 has such a complex aroma, consisting of damp earth, wild mint, rose, lavender, dark chocolate, dark cherry and strawberry jam. In the mouth it's tightly coiled and full of energy, with fine tannins and succulent fleshy red and blue berries contained within its vertical profile, just waiting to burst free. There's a lovely rolling wave of acidity which persists on the blackcurrant and spice finish." Decanter

Derthona Timorasso Montemarzino 2022
If you stumble across a vineyard by fate, then you might as well keep going. Luca Roagna, however, did what he had to do. He inherited this old vineyard, which was planted entirely with Timorasso, and as he immediately realised that he wanted to do something useful with it and was unfamiliar with this historic grape variety, he quickly asked Walter Massa, who had been dedicated to this rare variety for decades. And so, after just a few years, he succeeded in making a wine from it that more than rivalled those of his teacher!
Brilliant, clear straw yellow colour. Quince, citrus and a potpourri of yellow fruit on the nose. On the palate, this salinity is paired with a well-dosed woody flavour. The long maceration time gives this great white wine strength and persistence. Fine astringency is combined with a pressure that gives this wine - paired with well-dosed acidity and always very present fruit - the uniqueness that makes it at least equal to the great whites of the Loire or Burgundy, even in direct comparison. And yet it bears the individual Roagna signature: a style that cannot be found either in France or in other Piedmont vineyards. And that is really saying something, as the white wines from this noble Italian region are improving from year to year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Luca Roagna's 2022 Timorasso Derthona Montemarzino is a gorgeous, exotic white. Hints of lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and herbs build beautifully over time. Attractive floral overtones and silky contours give this creamy, layered Timorasso notable finesse." Vinous

“Cepparello” Toscana IGT 2021
Cepparello is one of the great varietal Sangiovese classics from central Tuscany. Brilliant ruby red colour. Clean, flawless aroma of red fruits, enlivened by fine pepper accents and delicate mineral nuances. Elegance radiates from the relaxed, enveloping flavour, which provides a perfectly measured acidity framework to a well-integrated tannin to finish long and full of finesse. SUPERIORE.DE
"Starts with a lot of esprit on warm-scented berry and flower flavours; complex attack, the acidity and the fine-grained tannins in perfect balance, salty-mineral nuances, the final opulent and yet full of elegance. Should be left for a few more years." Vinum
"Sparkling ruby colour of medium density. Finely characterised nose, with notes of raspberry and dark cherries, plus some eucalyptus. Juicy from the beginning to the end, shows plump cherry fruit, some blackberry, present tannin in many fine layers, pomegranate on the final." Falstaff
"Despite its medium-weight structure, the Cepparello 2021 is a restrained, tight-knit wine. Today, the 2021 still seems quite nervous and lean, even for a young Cepparello. It will be interesting to see how it develops with a little more time in the bottle. I really like the energy of this wine." Vinous
"Plum, cherry and pomegranate fruit are framed by toasted oak and mineral flavours in this lively and juicy red wine that offers plenty of energy, with elements of tar and oak on the lingering finish. It shows good balance, with the dense tannins leaving room for the fruit at the end. Needs time." Wine Spectator
"The Isole e Olena 2021 Cepparello, one of Tuscany's flagship wines, immediately offers ripe fruit flavours that are firm, even crisp, which bodes well for the future development of this classic vintage. The wine is packed with tart fruit flavours, followed by balanced acidity. Compared to previous vintages, which are more extracted and dense, this vintage is delightfully bright and transparent. I appreciate the age-worthy path Cepparello is taking." Wine Advocate
"In this vintage, the Cepparello shows very restrained notes of red cherries, dried violets and plenty of stony minerality. There is a fleshy and spicy character in the depths. Overall very precise and integrated. The palate is dominated by velvety tannins that have a chalky, even dusty texture, with a full body, amazing concentration and very refreshing acidity. The finish is bright and focused on cherry stones. A good wine for longer ageing. Possibly one of the best Cepparello ever." James Suckling

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“TAL 1908” Lagrein/Cabernet (Riserva) Alto Adige DOC 2020 · 0,75l in OWC
1908 is the year in which the Gries winery was founded. The history of the winery is closely linked to three rivers, but it is the Talvera that has shaped it the most. Bolzano is not called the city of Talvera for nothing. The old floodplains have given the winegrowers very special soils. These alluvial soils on porphyry provide the ideal basis for Lagrein in particular, but also for Cabernet and Merlot. With its good water permeability and mineral deposits, Bolzano's volcanic porphyry has always been one of the keys to wines full of character.
The idea behind this red wine cuvée is an uncompromising composition of three wines carefully selected from single vineyards in the Bolzano basin, cooled by the winds from the Sarntal valley and selected vines that are up to 50 years old and, as with all of the cooperative's top products, are subject to strict yield regulation. At the same time, nothing is left to chance in the cellar: TAL 1908 matures for 12 months in small oak barrels (French barriques) and then for 15 months in concrete vats, whose fine pores allow air to enter, before finally acquiring its final finesse in the bottle. Adherence to these strict principles in the vineyard and in the cellar is a prerequisite for the richness and uniqueness of the flavour. The Cuvée TAL 1908 is not a matter of logic - it must be savoured with all the senses. 2,999 numbered bottles were bottled.
Deep garnet red colour. A symphony of ripe fruit on the nose, in particular aromas of raspberries, redcurrants and blackberries, with light notes of pepper and cloves, combined with hints of cocoa, graphite and liquorice in the depths. A highly complex harmony on the palate, consisting of soft finesse, mineral freshness and framed by wonderfully proportioned acidity. As the wine progresses, various layers open up to create a highly complex and long-lasting pleasure experience. SUPERIORE.DE
"On the nose, it immediately exudes the generosity of Lagrein with ripe black berry fruit, ripe blackberries, cloves, dark chocolate and coffee beans. Very concentrated in the mouth, almost opulent, powerful structure, again with notes of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and sweet, velvety tannins. Very full and rich, but again has excellent taber much contrasting freshness. A perfect wine for the upcoming cold season to warm you up, certainly ideal with game, goulash and stews." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, impenetrable ruby colour with a violet core. Clear and memorable nose, showing notes of dark plum and cherry, spicy wild blueberry, plus fine nuances of mint and cardamom. Lots of juicy berry fruit on the palate, opens up with fine-meshed tannins, spans a wide arc, very nice drinking flow." Falstaff
"Strange combinations, but it works. Deep black violet-crimson colour. Concentrated blackberry and blueberry nose with creamy hints. Really gains depth with air. Juicy, cool dark fruit with velvety tannins. Very simple and easy to drink, but probably needs another year for the oak to fully integrate." Jancis Robinson

As always, the stunning Vigneti del Versante offers a spicy and seductive fruit of black cherries and plums, along with flowers, tobacco, minerals and undergrowth. The wine shows great fibre and density, with much of this power coming from the heavier soils of the selected vineyard sites. The overall impression is captivating with its intensity, yet luxurious and mysteriously dark. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a fascinating interpretation of the Vigneti di Versante, taking the floral, exotic nature of the vintage and combining it with the finesse and sophistication of Pian dell'Orino. Mint leaves, crushed stones, hints of camphor and dried strawberries are complemented in the glass by hints of ground ginger. This wine is elegant and refined, silky to the core, with tantalising acidity and mineral tones enlivened by hints of orange, while red plums linger on the senses. The tannins are soft and dusty, with an admirable concentration rarely found in 2018, finishing fresh and lightly textured. It is simply delicious. There will be no Bassolino di Sopra in 2018. All the juice went to the Vigneti del Versante." Vinous

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2013
This great wine is only released for sale nine years after the harvest: The slow drying of the fully ripe grapes gives this cru its immense strength and density as well as its extraordinary character with powerful ripeness, fruit fullness, beautiful concentration and great elegance. On the palate, Bertani's Amarone demonstrates freshness, noble lightness and great dynamism. An exciting wine and for decades probably the most classic Amarone - the archetype, so to speak - of the entire appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex bouquet characterised by red and blue fruits, wild cherry, also wonderfully floral with violets and rose petals. Grippy and elegant on the palate with a terrificattack thanks to the virile freshness and energy, incredibly mineral and gripping in the mid-palate. A great arc of tension." Weinwisser
"Brilliant ruby colour, sparkling, slightly brightening rim. Very clear and precise, flavours of finely ripened cherry and plum, fine spice. Firm, very fine-meshed tannins, has very good tension, juicy." Falstaff
"The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella initially shows a generous and exuberant style with all kinds of black fruits, tar, spices and a hint of saltiness. But this vintage is also characterised by a particular strength and power, expressed in firm tannins and a solid structural backbone that is best displayed in cooler vintages like this one. The 2013 offers linear power and determination and will certainly stand up to long bottle ageing." Wine Advocate
"This classic Amarone exudes a robust essence of dark fruit and earthy undertones reminiscent of a rich oak forest and worn leather. On the palate, it reveals a captivating story of ripe cherries, plums and a hint of spice, culminating in a velvety finish that lingers like a timeless song." Wine Enthusiast
"A great, dense core of mixed dried berries, along with notes of caramel and a mix of mild Indian spices, from coriander to mace. Full-bodied with a liqueur-like pearl of fruit running through the long, long finish with ample but well-integrated tannins. Excellent and so fresh." James Suckling
"Tenuta Novare, a blend of Corvina Veronese and Rondinella, matured for 7 years in large Slavonian barrels, followed by a year in the bottle, an example of classicism and moderation. Blackberry plum on the nose, a hint of liquorice powder, then eucalyptus. Salty minerality with a balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Piero” DOCG 2018
The Piero selection was created as a tribute to the work of Pierluigi Talenti, who has selected and worked the Sangiovese with passion over the years. A 1.95 hectare vineyard near the centre of the winery, with unique pedoclimatic characteristics, is distinguished from all other vineyards by its consistent quality. The gently sloping terrain is surrounded by woods rich in marl, with a south-eastern exposure at an altitude of 410 metres above sea level, where Pierluigi followed and cultivated his personal clonal selection in the 1970s. It is a wine with intense and persistent character, ruby colour, fine and elegant tannins. After ageing in tonneaux for at least 24 months, it is bottled until it is released to the market. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium intensity, warm red; red fruity, subtly spicy, caramel; round approach, fruit deep, nice tannin, pronounced length, very nice." (JLF) Merum
"Needs some aeration, but then aromas of wild berries and flowers, well cushioned by the wood, entice; juicy, fresh, full of race, the tannins robust and well integrated, intense and yet of great elegance the final." Vinum
"The bouquet is incredibly finely woven and complex, noble in its own way. Very sweet cherries, strawberries and wild berries, behind them a lot of Mediterranean herbal spice, plus fine floral notes. Wide and deep in the mouth with sweet-juicy tannins and fantastic freshness, because the ethereal notes are just wonderfully lingering and keep the wine quite long and spicy-fresh until the final. Delightful!" Weinwisser
"Tart, firm, somewhat dried-vegetable, fleshy and slightly tarry aroma of mixed berries with a hint of plums, tarragon, nutty aromas, a hint of leaves, pepper and iodine. Almost cool, juicy, quite taut fruit with acid bite and present, yet relatively fine tannins, herbal spice on the palate, nutty hints, a touch of chocolate, a little peppery ethereal tones in the background, smoky nuances, capers, rosemary and salt, some depth, still undeveloped, very good, taut finish, again with bite and ethereal spice." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby-garnet, sparkling. Classic nose with notes of ripe dark cherries, plus plum, some blood orange and cardamom. Moves along quietly and richly, showing lots of present, ripe fruit, fine-meshed tannin, juicy and long finish." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with brick coloured rim. Brooding sweet and sour cherry with hints of cinnamon sticks. Lush sour cherry on the palate with lots of finely ground but firm tannins. Great balance, substance and length, with decent oak management." Jancis Robinson
"Pretty hazelnut, dried flower and chocolate notes in the raspberries and ripe cherries. Medium-bodied, deliciously open and juicy, framed by taut tannins, with excellent drinkability. Fresh and balanced on the finish with tension." James Suckling
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Piero has more textural richness compared to the Brunello annata. This extra intensity is used in all the right places, both in terms of aromas and mouthfeel with extra stuffing here and aromatic accents there. The bouquet is infused with dark fruits, spices and grilled herbs. Like the Brunello annata, this wine has an accessible, medium-term drinking window in this vintage. Production of Piero is limited to 4,000 bottles and the grapes come from a two-hectare site at a cool 400 metres above sea level." Wine Advocate
"While less expressive than Talenti's classic Brunello, the Piero is by no means austere, and the 2018 may be my favourite vintage of this single-vineyard selection to date. It presents a beautiful purity of wild wild berry aromas lifted by mint, lavender and fennel, while blood orange and cocoa resound on the palate. Aged in 500 LitersFrench oak barrels - 30% of which are new - the wood has digested well, giving it a well-built, polished frame that doesn't overpower the fruit. A sneaky concentration and crisp acidity balance it all out." Decanter
"One of the standout wines of the vintage, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Piero starts dark and restrained in the glass, slowly coming to life with an array of dusty roses, dried strawberries, crushed plums, smoke and hints of fresh mint. The palate is velvety smooth and powerful, with admirable weight for the vintage, but also finesse as the wild berry fruit is supported by a core of vibrant acidity and violet flowers emerge towards the finish. The 2018 finishes with a bitter aftertaste of sour citrus and tart currants, but retains its fresh personality as grippy tannins linger on the palate and hints of lavender slowly fade." Vinous
"This juicy red wine features bright cherry and raspberry aromas that combine with thyme, mint and floral notes on the finish. Complex and lively, with a fine length in the refined, mineral aftertaste. Very elegant and long." Wine Spectator
"The nose is a coastal manor house, where the untamed sea air persistently intrudes on the domesticated aromas of vanilla and leather. The palate turns fruitier, with notes of cherry and strawberry, before salted dark chocolate explodes into a kaleidoscope of oranges on the finish, which is emphasized by strong tannins and acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"A beautiful project overseen by Riccardo and dedicated in memory of the progenitor Pierluigi. Fine nose, notes of red mulberry, citrus thyme and a hint of orange peel. Juicy-juicy, with a finish of fruity-citrus notes." Luca Gardini

NA as in Nals, MA as in Margreid. A tribute to two outstanding sites where something special can be –, – and felt, and which have inspired cellarmaster Harald Schraffl to create something equally special from their grapes. A wine and essence that expresses the essence of the small plots in its purest form, whose typicity tells the South Tyrol of tomorrow, a timeless wine with recognition value in an international context. In 2016, this special marriage of – and –grapes finds its way into the bottle for the first time. NAMA is born – a cuvée of 85% Chardonnay, married with Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon.
Harald Schraffl describes the wine as follows: "The Chardonnay brings the power, the timelessness and the international length to the wine, the Pinot Blanc the regionality, the rootedness with our soil and our homeland, the Sauvignon the spice."
The vines for the Cuvée NAMA are between 30 and 40 years old. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand. After the gentle whole bunch pressing, the must is pre-clarified by natural, static sedimentation, fermentation and ageing in small oak barrels for 18 months on the lees. The grapes are then assembled and matured together on the lees for a further year in stainless steel tanks. The Cuvée NAMA is then bottled, where it matures for another year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, rich straw yellow with light green components. Finely marked nose with notes of apricots and mirabelles, plus slightly resinous components, after spruce shoots. Plays up nicely on the palate, good pressure, salty, some green components on the final." Falstaff
"This wine is inspired by some of the great international expressions of Chardonnay. The Nals Margreid 2018 Alto Adige Bianco Nama is 90% Chardonnay with 7% Pinot Bianco and 3% Sauvignon Blanc just to give a little aromatic lift to the bouquet. Starting with the 2019 vintage, it becomes 100% Chardonnay. This gorgeous wine hits a perfect crosspoint of intensity, elegance and complexity. A light mineral dusting frames white peach, pear and quince. This medium–bodied white is plush and rich, but never heavy. Dolomitic notes give it lift and a convincing vertical push. Only 2,000 bottles were made plus specially numbered magnums." Wine Advocate
"A dense and layered white with cooked–apple, stone and light honey character, as well as pie crust and honeysuckle. It’s full–bodied and layered with a gorgeous, soft texture. Long and composed, with persistence and focus." James Suckling

The area around the small town of Milo is the only vineyard site on Etna where an Etna Bianco is allowed to be bottled as Superiore - and for good reason: only Carricante may be planted on the steep vineyard, which consists of dozens of small terraces. The vines are trained like a small tree on poles made of chestnut wood. The eastern exposure and the proximity of the sea allow the grapes to ripen late, resulting in consistently high acidity levels and a white wine with an aromatic finesse and freshness that is unrivalled even on Etna.
Pietra Marina is a single-varietal Carricante from vines over 80 years old at an altitude of around 950 metres on the eastern side of the volcano. The grapes are not harvested until October each year. Orange blossom, lychee, elderberry and apple on the nose. Harmonious and balanced on the palate, with perfectly integrated acidity and a beautiful finish. Distinct character, full of elegance, profound, sensual and endowed with a stunningly clean spectrum of flavours. One of the rarest and certainly most interesting white wines in Italy! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with light green notes. Opens with notes of flint and matchstick, lots of grapefruit. Beautiful interplay of acidity and salt on the palate, straightforward, fresh citrus fruit." Falstaff
"A statuesque white with razor-sharp acidity, interwoven with finely woven flavours of apricot, persimmon and Marcona almond, showing accents of lemon oil, honeysuckle and pine. The silky texture has a beautiful, feather-light quality, while a racy hint of salinity defines the very long finish." Wine Spectator
"This intense Etna is full of tension, showing candied cedar, kerosene, apricots and orange blossoms. Light- to medium-bodied, it has a bone-dry style with crisp acidity, minerals and a tight, slightly austere finish." James Suckling
"The Etna Bianco Superiore Pietra Marina 2019 is captivating. It is perfumed and floral, with enriching notes of almond paste and candy spice that perfectly accentuate a smoky core of white peaches. The palate has more verve but is somewhat restrained, with wiry textures and an intense mineral core that adds depth to the citrus-influenced orchard fruits. The nervy acidity makes the mouth water and provides a dazzling freshness, while flowers and sour limes linger on the inside. The 2019 is still a small child today, compact yet complex, balanced and full of character." Vinous

"Sparkling, intense ruby-violet. Very intense and clear nose, full of ripe wild raspberries, blackberries, in the background some pickled beetroot, discreet earthy notes, also tobacco. Very juicy on the palate, ripe berry fruit, opens with fine-meshed tannin, great drinking flow, tobacco on the final." Falstaff
"The 2018 Duemani, 100% Cabernet Franc, is polished, classy and sensual. It is one of the most polished wines I have ever tasted here. Fine tannins frame a core of red fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and blood orange. The 2018 is perhaps not as varietally expressive as in some editions, but it more than makes up for that with its grace. There is a feeling of youthful austerity that emerges with time in the glass." Vinous
"An organic and biodynamic wine, the 2018 Cabernet Franc Duemani presents a thick and nearly impenetrable wall of dark fruit, pressed blackberry, spice, smoky tar and tobacco. This wine shows impeccable aromatic integration with the high notes and the baritone notes delivered in beautiful synchronization. This wine outpaced my initial expectations following my first tasting of this vintage from barrel. The tannins are integrated and there is a sweet, fruity note on the full-bodied close." Wine Advocate
"This has an aromatic array of ripe red and black cherries, blackcurrants, blueberries, cloves, cedar, fresh herbs and licorice. It’s full-bodied, incredibly smooth and polished with layers of ripe fruit and chocolate, yet with lifting freshness. Fine, silky tannins and a long finish. Lingering chocolate and spices. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification." James Suckling

“SUISASSI” Rosso Costa Toscana IGP 2016 (BIO)
Syrah Suisassi is rich and expressive. The bouquet is convincing with aromas of sage, rosemary, wild flowers, liquorice, violets and plums. On the palate very full and round with memories of berries, chocolate and nuts. Elegant and intellectual. SUPERIORE.DE
"4000 bottles are produced from this wine, which is aged in wood: Inviting nose of juniper berries, tobacco and herbs; juicy, compact on the palate, with accurately integrated acidity, elegant and long." Vinum
"The 2016 Suisassi brings together power and freshness to a degree that is quite rare on the coast. Inky dark purplish fruit, leather, licorice, plum, lavender and spice come together in a deep Syrah endowed with tremendous concentration as well as power. Time in the glass brings out the wine's explosive energy and tension. The 30% whole clusters are evident, but not overly so." Vinous
"There is a lot of gorgeous spice in the 2016 Syrah Suisassi, along with candied fruit, cherry and notes of blackberry. The Syrah takes very well to 20 months in oak, retaining a freshness and fruity sweetness to accompany the spice. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich. In the end, this is a fine and elegant expression of Syrah that I could envision serving with a creamy steak au poivre." Wine Advocate
"Wow. This shows amazing aromas of foie gras, game, pepper and spice with the dark fruit. Full body and soft, juicy tannins that form the wild and exotic, syrah character in the aftertaste. Love this. From biodynamically grown grapes. Demeter-certified." James Suckling

“SUISASSI” Syrah Rosso Costa Toscana IGP 2018 (BIO)
Suisassi is rich and expressive. The bouquet convinces with aromas of sage, rosemary, wild flowers, liquorice, violets and plums. The palate is very full and round with memories of berries, chocolate and nuts. Elegant and intellectual. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, dark ruby-violet. Very expressive and appealing nose, full of ripe blueberries and blackberries, ripe plums, very clear fruit, also rich spice in the background. Juicy and rich on the palate, shows lots of incisive berry fruit, grippy, tightly meshed tannin, very long finish." Falstaff
"One of the icons of the Tuscan coast, this wine is a pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming, especially in this neck of the woods. The Duemani 2018 Syrah Suisassi is beautifully generous and full-bodied. The wine delivers uninterrupted waves of black and purple fruit, all followed up by spice, baker's chocolate and softly cured tobacco. As is the case with Luca D'Attoma's Cabernet Franc Duemani that I also tasted as an unfinished wine, I am pleased to say that these final results more than delivered on my expectations. This is mostly thanks to the wine's balance and power." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Suisassi (Syrah) is another exceptional wine in this range. Dark and racy, the 2018 offers up copious blue/blackish fruit, lavender, menthol and chocolate. There's real depth and density here, but not the heaviness of the past. Once again, Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli crafted a unique and totally distinctive wine. Superb." Vinous
"Ripe black cherries, wild blackberries, blackcurrants, nutmeg, licorice, mahogany, musk and some dried thyme on the nose. It’s full-bodied and polished with intense blue and black-fruit flavors, wonderfully balanced with wood, spice and smoky notes. Velvety, integrated tannins. Such focus and precision. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Already stunning and hard to resist now, but better in a couple of years." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
This coveted Riserva is only vinified in top vintages and comes from the highest vineyards of the winery. On the nose, the essence of dark cherries, blackberries, flowers, violets, liquorice and spices, which are then carried away on the palate by firm, structured tannins. The Brunello Riserva 2016 impresses with its remarkable fruit and a big, explosive finish. It presents itself fresh and surprisingly lively, yet very focused and balanced. A great wine that is already a real joy to drink. SUPERIORE.DE
"Andrea Cortonesi crafts distinctly umami Brunello from various parcels at diverse altitudes and exposures in the warm reaches of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. After trying the sensuous 2015 Riserva at the estate in September 2021, I was excited to taste the 2016 release. It too is voluptuously shaped yet shored up by sturdy, muscular tannins. Pronounced clove and nutmeg meet prune, dried raspberry and tar. And there is a saline beef broth undertow. While it offers plenty to unpack over the years, I actually prefer to drink Uccelliera’s wines when they are still full of vim and vigour." Decanter
"This is really polished and refined, yet remains polished and beautiful, with cherries and berries, as well as light hazelnut and walnut undertones. Compact and silky. Drink after 2024, but already so attractive." James Suckling
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a terrific wine: bold, well-defined, powerful and balanced. There are many good things to relate, but the high alcohol content (measured at 15.5%) is the only distraction. This is a trend in the Riserva category in the 2016 vintage. The bouquet shows black cherry, cassis, earth, leather and dried roses. The palate offers soft fruit flavors supported by firm oak tannins." Wine Advocate
"Rich and deeply alluring, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wafts up to display crushed ashen stone mixed with hints of ginger, dusty florals and black cherry preserves. This is velvety-smooth and pliant in feel, lifted by cooling herbal and mineral tones, as an opulent wave of ripe red and black fruits washes across the palate, leaving a staining of minerals and spice in its wake. It’s long and structured, in need of further time to come fully into focus, yet somehow the 2016 Riserva remains completely fresh, tapering off to inner earth tones and hints of blueberry. Time will reveal further depths. This is an utterly classic Uccelliera Brunello in the making." Vinous
"Offers forthcoming aromas and flavors of blackberry, black currant, licorice, tobacco and vanilla backed by vivid acidity and dusty tannins, with a long, saline finish. Showing enough fruit and structure to absorb the oakiness over time, this is balanced overall and poised for a promising future." Wine Spectator

“SUISASSI” Syrah Rosso Costa Toscana IGP 2019 (BIO)
Suisassi is rich and expressive. The bouquet convinces with aromas of sage, rosemary, wild flowers, liquorice, violets and plums. The palate is very full and round with memories of berries, chocolate and nuts. Elegant and intellectual. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby violet. Very inviting nose with notes of elderberries, raspberries, dark pepper, some galangal, candy floss. Lots of fruit on the palate, of mulberry, fine-meshed tannin, builds well, still a bit rough on the final." Falstaff
"Tasted in a preview capacity, the Duemani 2019 Syrah Suisassi shows enormous potential, although this grape definitely requires more time to integrate. At this young stage, you really get a sense of the power and richness inherent to this growing season. Some 30% of the fruit is whole cluster and that obviously adds considerably to the ample fruit weight and texture displayed here. The tannins are shaping up nicely with lots of firmness, dimension and no evident astringency. This will be a Syrah to put at the back of your cellar. This is a knockout edition of Suisassi." Wine Advocate
"Very deep and dark fruit in the nose, with violets, ink, blackberries, roasted meat, asphalt and spices. Wet earth, too. Medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and a wonderful finish. Ink and slate notes develop." James Suckling

“Calvari” Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2020
Calvari explodes on the palate with an abundance of plums, sour cherries, graphite, flowers and minerals. This towering, massive Refosco remains extraordinarily pristine: indeed, it tastes like biting into a perfectly ripe grape from this old vineyard! A deep, baritonal register develops in the glass as this profound wine gradually reveals its pedigree. Until now, we have only known such class from Miani. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Refosco Vigna Calvariv is youthfully coy. It slowly emerges from the glass with a hauntingly dark bouquet as wild berries and currants come together with lavender, sweet smoke and the slightest hint of clove that adds a lovely contrast. This is pure elegance, silky, nearly creamy in feel, with a polished wave of ripe red and black fruits complicated by depths of salty minerals. Sage and dark chocolate traces mingle toward the close. The 2020 tapers off on a note of refinement, tannic and firm, yet not achingly so, leaving a bitter blackberry tinge that makes for perfect punctuation. This is a well-muscled stallion chomping at the bit, yet patience will be rewarded." Vinous

Limitation of 2 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “Piero” DOCG 2019
The Piero selection was created as a tribute to the work of Pierluigi Talenti, who has selected and worked the Sangiovese with passion over the years. A 1.95 hectare vineyard near the centre of the winery, with unique pedoclimatic characteristics, stands out from all other vineyards for its consistent quality. The gently sloping terrain is surrounded by woods rich in marl, with a south-easterly exposure at an altitude of 410 metres above sea level, where Pierluigi pursued and cultivated his personal clonal selection in the 1970s. It is a wine with an intense and persistent character, ruby red colour, fine and elegant tannins. After maturing in tonneaux for at least 24 months, it is bottled until it is released onto the market. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark red; reductive-barrelled, rubbery, ripe-fruity, multi-layered, inviting; sweetness, juicy, fruity length, coffee, very appealing." (JLF) Merum
"Uncork the bottle a few hours earlier and you will be enchanted by engaging notes of raspberries, plums, undergrowth and violets; in the mouth, the wine is full of power, vigour and yet suppleness right through to the complex finish. Impeccable style, can also mature excellently." Vinum
"Bright ruby red with a dark, sparkling centre. Open-hearted and inviting on the nose, blackberry, plum, black cherry, a mix of sealing wax and almonds on the finish. Exciting on the palate, on strawberry candy, creamy fruit, with grippy tannins, plus fine ferrous tones, keeps coming back in the mouth, still needs some time." Falstaff
"A vibrant red wine whose lively acidity brings the aromas and flavours of rose, cherry, raspberry and minerals to a lingering finish. It is supple and balanced, with a graceful feel and a long, fruity and mineral aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Deep, shiny ruby red with bright orange-coloured reflections. A little closed on the nose, more spicy than fruity and with just a hint of spicy oak. Lively, deep sour cherry palate with plenty of body and impeccable balance. Long, gravelly tannins and tangy cherry fruit with just the right touch of oak. Will age gracefully." Jancis Robinson
"Attractive flavours of crushed berries, cherries and bark follow through to a medium body, with lovely fruit and lively acidity. Balanced and delicious already, but may improve with age." James Suckling
"The Talenti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is a wine with plenty of fruit and muscle. It has an intoxicating bouquet with glowing spices, stewed cherries and cured tobacco delivered in generous waves and rich volume. The wine's personality is ultimately revealed as strong and simple, and I think these adjectives hit the nail on the head. Thanks to its velvety tannins, it offers smooth transitions and is quite full-bodied on the finish." Wine Advocate
"Dedicated to the memory of the founder, from the vineyard of the same name just a few steps away from the winery. Notes of red cherry on the nose, a hint of black pepper in the grains, a hint of juniper and bergamot. The sip has citrus sensations and a memory of red cherry, return of sweet spices." Luca Gardini
"This Auslese comes from a two-hectare vineyard at an altitude of 410 metres with rocky sandstone on the surface. Riccardo Talenti says that he always produces the best fruit from the vineyard, regardless of the conditions. Aged in tonneaux, Piero opens with intense coffee flavours that mingle with spicy notes of cloves and nutmeg. On the palate, it develops a sweet and sour character, while suede permeates the dark, fleshy red cherry. The tannins are grainy and substantial, but ripe, and it cries out for a few more years to develop." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is not to be missed. It blossoms slowly with a tantalising blend of spicy blackberries, violet pastille and orange zest. It impresses with its lively, ripe wild berry fruit and juicy acidity. Tactile mineral tones add contrast, and rosy inner flowers emerge towards the end. The 2019 lingers incredibly long and takes on a savoury note, while the palate lingers with a savoury tension, even as the fine tannins grip the senses. The Piero is already showing such extravagance and balance. It will be an exciting Brunello to follow over the next two decades." Wine Advocate

Capo di Stato has long been a legend thanks to its top quality and history. The cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbech was created by Conte Loredan Gasparini. A wine rich in finesse in the classic Bordeaux style, dense and of outstanding structure with flavours of spices and red fruits. Fascinatingly ripe tannins, skilfully integrated into the new French barrique in which the wine was matured for two years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright, rich ruby red colour. Great interplay of spicy aromas on the nose, pepper, cassis, leather, tobacco, then again red pepper, liquorice, forest berries on the finish. Extremely juicy and balanced on the palate, fruit and acidity are well balanced, with pressure, currently still showing young tannins at the back, already pointing to a long life." Falstaff
"This is a historic wine worth the search if you like drinking history. Made from old clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, the wine exudes the dark plummy notes you would expect, with a deep earthy and savory element. Fine, yet firm tannins give the full-bodied wine gravitas as the deep dark fruits yield to cedar, tobacco, clove and worn leather." Wine Enthusiast
"A juicy, medium-bodied red wine with lovely earthy funk, dark olive and pepper notes in the spiced black cherry fruit. Supple palate with firm but silky tannins complementing its fleshy dark cherry core. Good-natured. Better from 2024." James Suckling

Good freshness on the palate, yeasty, with light phenolics and a cool core, currently still very young, still needs to age." Falstaff

Barolo “Le Vigne - Sibi et Paucis” Riserva DOCG 2014
Luciano has been keeping back a small quantity of his Barolo Le Vigne for a few years now, allowing it to continue maturing in the bottle in his cellar. The result is called "Sibi et Paucis", an impressive and rare opportunity to experience the marvellous ageing potential of his great Baroli. SUPERIORE.DE
"This version shows ripe aromas and flavours of plum, cherry, leather and woody undergrowth. Firm and dense, with a balance that shifts towards the tannins, but long and satisfying." Wine Spectator
"The Barolo Le Vigne Sibi et Paucis 2014 from Luciano Sandrone shows a pronounced tertiary note reminiscent of dried kitchen herbs, fennel and tarragon. The fruit transitions into dried cherries and blackcurrants. The wine has a spicy side with black pepper or chilli flakes on a medium-bodied texture. In this case, the tannins are integrated and polished. The 2014 is ready to drink now. Only 1,500 bottles were set aside for this late release." Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Barolo Le Vigne Sibi et Paucis opens with notes of cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, dried herbs, mint and dried cherry. Medium-bodied and sinewy, the 2014 is characterised by bright acids, plenty of gorgeous minerality and a medium-bodied structure. The long, lingering finish is a real beauty." Vinous
"Bright ruby red with a garnet rim. Dried cherries and Parma violets are loaded along with liquorice, but there is also a darker character of fresh plums and restrained minty minerality. Dense, velvety and relaxing, but with a full body and great concentration. The tannins are infused with spicy flavours of plum and liquorice and are carried by a powerful acidity." James Suckling

Barolo Riserva Ravera Vigna Elena is a wonderful wine from Elvio Cogno and, not surprisingly, as is so often the case, the best from the collection of the family business from Novello. It is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and only produced in selected vintages. It exudes delicate truffle notes and aromas of wild berries with a hint of exotic spice. The wine is soft, lush and well-structured, making your mouth water. This Barolo shows the power and inner structure of the Ravera Cru and should age beautifully over the next two decades. SUPERIORE.DE
"Comes from a one-hectare vineyard planted with a special Nebbiolo clone: fresh berry notes in combination with orange zest and balsamic spice flavours; precise evolution, carried by polished tannins and a crisp acidity, berry, invigorating, long and full of finesse." Vinum
"Sparkling ruby colour with a pronounced garnet rim. Fine, inviting nose, opens with notes of blood orange, plus fresh plum, some leather in the background. Lots of juicy, present fruit on the palate, clear flavours of fresh raspberries, pithy, dense tannins, built up in many layers, rich and full-bodied on the final, salty." Falstaff
"Pale ruby red colour. Lots of minerals on the nose and only slowly raspberry fruit and iodine notes. A slow-burning wine. Great freshness, length and juiciness. Multi-layered, with lots of tannins on the finish. You can approach it now, because it's hard to resist." Jancis Robinson

This dry Gewürztraminer from the Pirchschrait single vineyard at Kolbenhof is a tribute to Konrad Oberhofer, who was the first to vinify the grapes from individual vineyards separately in the 1930s. Martin Foradori Hofstätter's grandfather was a pioneer of vineyard thinking. His goal was to make the special character of each site tangible in the wine.
After ten years of maturation on the fine yeast in Liters barrels, the Gewürztraminer develops a dense texture without losing freshness. The fine yeast also gives it a charming aroma of toasted bread, medlars, blossom honey and dried fruits. In contrast, the already low fruit sweetness recedes discreetly during the years of ageing, while the minerality gains in expression. In the glass, the top-quality Pirchschrait impresses with a subtle interplay of flavours. SUPERIORE.DE
