The Castello di Brolio family estate sits peacefully on a picturesque hill in the Chianti mountains, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and cypresses. Baron Bettino Ricasoli first determined in the late 1860s which grape varieties a Chianti could contain at this magnificent location in the municipality of Gaiole. Inspired by the French wine philosophy, Ricasoli 1141, one of the oldest wineries in the world, has launched three particularly fine wines on the market.
The main wine of the house - Chianti Classico "Castello di Brolio" - is made mainly from Sangiovese and aged in barriques for 18 months. Other premium wines include pure Merlot "Casalferro" and the new Chianti Classico "colledilà"vinified from 100% Sangiovese from a single vineyard of the same name, which has been vinified since the 2011 vintage, as well as the "Castello di Brolio" the highest quality level "Gran Selezione" climbed.
