“Anfiteatro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017
Barely 4,000 bottles are produced each year from the magical Anfiteatro, named after the historic vineyard of the same name, which was planted back in 1975. 100% Sangiovese, from high Galestro soils, make up this masterpiece, which impresses every year and which, along with Flaccianello and Cepparello, can place itself in the first rank of the super-Sangiovese of central Tuscany.
Ruby red with garnet reflections. Initially cool and distinguished on the nose, it only gradually reveals its differentiated aromas of cedar, dried berries, pepper and grilled herbs. On the palate, firm pressure, the primary aromas clear and nuanced, then mint, liquorice and crushed pepper as the drink continues. Anfiteatro is a real top wine and delights with its distinctive beauty and finesse, its polished tannins and an overall picture that only a single-varietal Sangiovese is capable of producing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with a dark core. Opens on the nose with slightly malty notes, of black bread crust, plus earthy components, of dried porcini mushrooms and red beet. On the palate then lots of juicy fruit, fresh and crisp, also shows good tension, finely meshed tannin in the back." Falstaff
"Wild juniper, thyme, blackberry, black currant, mineral and tar flavors are the themes in this red, along with a resinous note from the oak. Racy, concentrated, solidly built and in the end, complex, if on the unforgiving side today." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Anfiteatro, 100% Sangiovese, is another stellar wine in this range from Montefili. It shows the magical mix of aromatic and savory intensity, with all the density that is such a house signature. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, dried herbs, mint and licorice meld together in a wine of remarkable beauty, pedigree and character. This 2017 is positively stellar. In a word: dazzling." Vinous

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
Elena Fucci's exceptional wine Titolo is already built for the long haul in the "basic variant". It will continue its steady development for at least the next 20 years, so it is a joy to drink at a mature age, especially in magnum format. Dark ruby red, on the nose aromas of ripe red fruits and a fine wood spice. Put together with enormous precision, the wine offers a balanced intensity and a nice level of fruit purity that speaks both for the Aglianico grape and the extreme territory that produces it. Titolo convinces with its fine texture and elegantly integrated tannins. This is a masterful Aglianico performance, just the way we love it. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, dark ruby garnet. Fragrant nose of dried rose, ripe strawberries, a hint of vanilla, honey in the aftertaste, inviting bouquet. Opens softly on the palate with polished tannin, clear red fruit, stretches finely and elegantly over the tongue, compact tannin presses gently on the palate in the finish." Falstaff
"There's no mistaking the masses of pure, mineral-laden, musky Aglianico del Vulture fruit that wafts up from the 2018 Titolo. It's dark, with violet florals and smoke smoldering in the glass. The silky and pliant textures within wash a polished wave of mineral-tinged black fruits and savory exotic spices across the palate with ease, propelled by zesty acidity. Grippy tannins emerge, yet the mouth waters as a salty flourish lingers, along with hints of licorice and lavender. The 2018 won't be the longest-lived vintage of Titolo, but this beauty will excel easily through medium-term cellaring." Vinous
"Plush aromas of violet, juniper, cherry and bramble berry burst on the nose. Medium in weight, there's a driven, ample feel to the juicy red-cherry and blackberry flavors, with bits of tar and pressed rose arising on the midpalate. Yet, throughout the whole experience, bouncy berry fruit and zesty crushed mineral tones remain constant." Wine Enthusiast

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
The owner and winemaker Alessandro Mori describes himself as a "naturalista". His wines ferment spontaneously with autochthonous grape varieties and age for a long time in large old oak barrels. He lets the natural temperatures of the cellar control the refinement of the wine and uses minimal sulphur throughout. In addition to all its characteristic floral scents of roses and violets, Il Marroneto's 2018 is positively spicy with a peppery, juniper note. On the palate, it is delicately woven while offering deep flavours and good length. Clean and bright, with distinct notes of rosehip and raspberry, while refined tannins sneak up with textured chalkiness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Exciting nose with hints of freshly picked cherries, blackcurrant, tobacco, cardamom as well as Mediterranean spices and flowers. In the mouth again very gripping,
very own, exciting style, completely focused on freshness and pure-toned crispness, shows itself grippy and delicate with juicy fruit and fine spice. Must mature." Weinwisser"Bright, medium dense ruby garnet. Appealing nose with notes of cranberries, goji berries and juicy fresh cherries. Lots of crisp fruit on the attack, unfolds very smoothly, fine sweet melt, raspberry on the final." Falstaff
"Brilliant, concentrated ruby red. Refined but still somewhat closed on the nose with spicy and mineral hints. Lots of appeal on the palate with beautiful, juicy, vibrant and concentrated cherry and raspberry fruit and hints of fruitcake. Lots of firm tannins that are still a little astringent and overpower the fruit. Long and layered finish, but still a little embryonic." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh, red fruit character with cherries and red plums and hints of gunpowder, coffee beans, spices and dried orange peel. Medium to full-bodied with firm tannins and a smooth, velvety fruit core on the mid palate. Lingering mineral note on the finish. Best after 2024." James Suckling
"Il Marroneto's 2018 Brunello embodies elegance, lightness and grace without being banal or superficial. Harvested on 5 October, it has a sweet core of red berries that provides a backdrop for cinnamon stick, sarsaparilla and violet accents to unfold. The ripe tannins are fine-grained and enveloping as the wine reaches accessible depths, and the appetising acidity begs for another sip - but not before the leisurely finish unfolds with spices and raspberries. A seamless symphony that reflects Alessandro Mori's unhurried, unforced approach to winemaking. As tempting as this wine is now, a little more patience will be rewarded." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino has a charisma that makes it an absolute delight. Sweet exotic spices meet dried black cherries, dusty flowers and a hint of cloves. It is a pure delight on the palate, showing both opulent fruit and total balance and sophistication, while the sour berries are given a bracing lift by the juicy acidity. The 2018 leaves no stone unturned, rejuvenating with rounded tannins and lingering on the palate for up to a minute with a bracing burst of citrus, nuances of sweet rose and liquorice. This wine is so beautiful already, but it also has the balanced structure to age beautifully, something you don't find in many Brunellos of this vintage. What a treasure." Vinous
"The Il Marroneto 2018 Brunello di Montalcino from Alessandro Mori opens with a spicy bouquet with notes of caraway and white pepper that seamlessly transition into bright cherries, blueberries and cassis. The trick with this wine is balance, as neither side is stronger than the other. More importantly, this Brunello still has life and vibrant energy. Precisely because this bottle tastes so good now, I see little reason to wait any longer." Wine Advocate
"All the richness of Il Marroneto's raw materials in this impeccable version of Brunello. Blueberry jam on the nose, then notes of cinnamon, carob and marjoram. Juicy, spicy tannins on the palate and a fruity finish." Luca Gardini
"The nose seems like a dreamy island getaway, with passion fruit for breakfast, prickly pear cocktails by the pool, violets on the dinner table, and rosewater candy waiting on the nightstand. The palate brings candied cherries and strawberries, with continued rosiness bleeding into a citrusy, spicy finish. The acidity sparks off sophisticated tannins. This wine is poised and elegant, yet also exciting." Wine Enthusiast

“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
When you hear the story of the effort that went into the Colonia vineyard, you have to wonder if the fine people of Fèlsina are absolutely crazy. It took them two years to remove the imposing rock that had forced previous generations of the Poggiali family to virtually abandon this noble site. But it is thanks to the ambitious Giovanni Poggiali that this spectacular vineyard (Vigneto Colonia) became what it is today. It has reddish-brown soils, is rich in magnesium and iron, and is thus quite different from all other Fèlsina sites.
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is a wine of enormous beauty and depth. Dark ruby in the glass, it smells expressively mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant. Mineral and graphite aromas and the simply terrific focus on the Sangiovese grape make it an incomparable masterpiece. On the palate, it is extremely well-balanced and elegant with optimally integrated wood - it is immediately clear that another top wine of the house has been created that is more than a match for the Fontalloro. Fortunately for those who can taste it, there are only 3,000 bottles per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Superb bouquet with notes of raspberries, rose hips, also sandalwood; juicy on the palate, with powdery tannin, perfectly integrated acidity, shows depth and style into the jam finish. Great wine that can age for some more time." Vinum
"Sparkling, rich ruby red. Very intense and clearly marked nose, full of wild raspberries and blackberries, behind it cardamom, exciting. Substantial and dense in attack and course, opens up in lots of pithy tannin, rich, dark berry fruit, in the final emphatically earthy notes, after red beet and cocoa." Falstaff
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Gorgeous nose of sour cherry and blackberry with blood-orange hints and notes of new oak all perfectly tied together. Focused and a little vibrant on the palate, elegant and succulent with long, coating tannins. Transparent finish." Jancis Robinson
"Sweet berries and dried flowers on the nose with sage and lavender. Medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins, yet these are polished and intense. Very structured and solid. Needs cellar time. Try after 2023." James Suckling
"I prefer this wine to Fèlsina's top-shelf Fontalloro. The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is irresistibly angular and tight, opening a profound view onto what makes Sangiovese so expressive and unique, especially when planted in the right territories. The bouquet is savory and almost sanguine with iron ore, rusty nail and baked clay. But there's plenty of fruit as well, in the form of wild berry and black cherry, that adds to the dimension and dynamic freshness of the mouthfeel. Give this wine time to soften in the bottle." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is fascinating to taste next to the Rancia, as the two parcels are adjacent. Rich and substantial in the glass, Colonia is textured and ample, qualities that become increasingly apparent over time. Rugged, rocky terrain seems to amplify power, explosive verticality and acidity." Vinous

“Campo di Magnacosta” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2022
Just 2,100 bottles of this 1.5-hectare single-vineyard Cabernet Franc "Campo di Magnacosta" (a former riverbed with mainly clay, gravel and crushed stone soil) are sold worldwide in specialised shops and on the menus of the best restaurants. The vines were planted in the mid-1990s and come from the Pomerol region. In terms of aromatic intensity, Magnacosta is probably the most sensual and elegant of the estate's three great Cabernets. It is very straightforward, but somewhat less powerful and intense. It subtly combines black fruit flavours with spicy notes, tar and antique leather. It is already silky and elegant and will certainly become even more refined over the years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with violet reflections. Intense and ripe aromas of juicy cherries and plums, blood oranges and sweetish spices of cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Very juicy and fruity on the palate, beautifully balanced with fine and densely woven tannins, elegant and fruity on the long finish." Falstaff
"A textured, dense and well-driven cabernet franc. It has notes of mixed berries, warm spices, bark and grilled meat, following through to a full body with plush tannins. Intense and full of verve, with plenty of volume. It’s lively and vibrant thanks to a generous lift of spices and a long, focused finish." James Suckling

Barbaresco “Basarin” DOCG 2021
Do you know the Basarin vineyard near Neive? You can expect a bright ruby-garnet colour and a wine from a particularly beautiful vintage: the bouquet is a cornucopia of wild sour cherry aromas, herbs, a little liquorice and tobacco. Firm and very clearly structured on the palate, muscular and yet with an elegance that never loses control due to its power. Basarin is a highly energetic and precise Nebbiolo that only reveals its complexity with patience and aeration. The neighbouring Neive terroir reveals itself with refined elegance and blends harmoniously with the volume and weight typical of the site - and with a depth that only vines over 50 years old can produce. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barbaresco Basarin 2021 is a dense, rich wine. Preserved cherry, plum, lavender, rose petals, spices and new leather are recognisable. The natural intensity of the vintage is expressed in this decidedly dark, intense Barbaresco. However, the return to super-classic winemaking balances things out nicely. I expect the Basarin to be the most accessible of these 2021s." Vinous
"This Barbaresco opens with a seductive nose that perks up the senses. Hints of spiced wild berries, smoked black tea, crushed dried leaves and baking spices swirl in the glass as delicate floral notes woo the senses even more. Elegant and refined yet with a classic Nebbiolo structure that highlights flavors of drying cherries alongside wild thyme and bay leaf that all lift from the palate with the rush acidity on the finish." “Grattamacco” Rosso Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2020 (BIO)
Bright, rich ruby red colour. Fine, elegant bouquet with fruity aromas, notes of coffee and complex spice flavours. The flavour is long-lasting, the acidity in perfect balance with the tannins and body. A wine with great tension and personality, suitable for long ageing, but also a delight in its youth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully multi-layered, rather cool bouquet with the mineral notes that are often perceived here, reminiscent of iron, very distinguished, noble fruit with à point ripe wild berry flavours, noble cherries, cassis and cranberries. Fine and elegant on the palate, very precisely contoured, super elaborate tannins that cling almost perfectly to the body like a tailor-made dress, linear with a fine-radiant acid freshness that penetrates the palate. This is mega! This puts Grattamacco right up there with the region's superstars and secures it a permanent place on the podium." Weinwisser
"Elegant and straightforward in profile, this red wine offers aromas and flavours of cherries, blackcurrants, minerals, earth and Mediterranean scrub. There's fine tension and freshness, with a long, resonant aftertaste. Needs time." Wine Spectator
"Timeless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese: Plump bouquet of blueberry jam and leather; juicy on the palate, the acidity and crumbly tannins in harmony, soft and supple and yet with substance the fruity-balsamic finish, also mineral nuances. A classic that also impresses in this vintage." Vinum
"Aromatic nose of blackcurrants, berries and cherries, along with a hint of flowers and gentle oak. Full-bodied with a very pure and intense fruit that runs through the slightly firm tannins and gives a long, only slightly rubbing finish. From organically grown grapes. An elegant, well-structured blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Drinkable now, but better from 2024." James Suckling
"Restrained cassis and Mediterranean herb scents are allied to fresher red fruits and a floral touch. It's very well composed, demonstrating an elegant and juicy style with great integration of oak and youthful, chewy fruit. A Bolgheri to wait for – this is intended for the long haul." Decanter
"The 2020 tastes balanced and long with even more tannin structure to hold it firmly together. This is an iconic blend." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Grattamacco is an outstanding wine, dark, lively and nuanced to the core. Black fruits, lavender, spices, leather, menthol and dried herbs give the 2020 plenty of character and complexity. The 2020 is deep, but also wonderfully translucent and one of the finest Grattamaccos I can remember tasting. It has incredible depth and resonance, not to mention a lot of personality." Vinous
"One of the highlights of Bolgheri, from a now mythological vineyard. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Blackberries on the nose, menthol, pink pepper and citrus notes on the finish. Taut on the palate with tannins that are balanced by a fresh, savoury component. Fruity finish, depth." Luca Gardini

“Maternigo” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2016
Maternigo means "mother's land" and is also the name of one of the Tedeschi family's vineyards. The vineyards cover around 33 hectares in two municipalities, Tregnago and Mezzane di Sotto. The new Cru-Amarone Riserva Maternigo is only produced in the best years and its grapes come exclusively from the Barila vineyard. This single vineyard was selected after careful zoning and characterisation of the soil, which is characterised by very low vigour and consequently produces grapes rich in structure.
This gives it its own complex and aromatic character, which is characterised by a high concentration of natural aromatic components in the grapes. This complexity creates an intense bouquet of red fruits and Mediterranean flowers. These notes are echoed on the palate, along with subtle hints of eucalyptus, which give the wine freshness and at the same time hints of sweet spices. The impressive result is an elegant wine with great structure and exciting development potential - and an unmistakable sensory experience. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright, rich ruby red colour. Noble and clear on the nose, of ripe, rich cherries, red peach, rosehips and wild berry mousse, with fine spicy components on the finish. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, opens rich and with dark berry fruit components, juicy tannin envelops the fine melting, ends long in the final with fine pressure on elderberry syrup." Falstaff
"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Maternigo is ashy and intense, with tobacco giving way to peppery herbs, dried cherries and dark chocolate. It feels velvety-smooth and glycerin-like, with a dense wave of ripe red fruit and sweet spice carried by salty minerals and vibrant acids. It leaves a hint of rich sweet fruit along with violet and lavender tones as it finishes lightly textured. The 2016 took some time to develop in the glass, but it really shows the magic of the vintage. Bravo." Vinous
"Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella from the Barila vineyard, grape harvest, followed by long fermentation and maceration, then 48 months in Slavonian oak, a wine with a beautiful olfactory impact, notes of blackcurrant, nuances of wild mint and nutmeg, spicy attack, spicy finish." Luca Gardini
"This wine exemplifies the unique world that Amarone lives in as a wine. It is both very powerful and elegant at the same time. The nose is reserved at first, showing a mixture of black currant, plum and raspberry. The wine then shifts gears highlighting the bitter-chocolate notes and chalky minerality that come from this unique single vineyard, Barila. The bottling has firm tannins and vibrant acidity, giving the wine seriousness and demanding it be lost in the cellar for some time." Wine Enthusiast
"It's very restrained on the nose, with a dense package of baked red cherry flavours and a bright mineral, almost wet stone character. Mediterranean herbs too. Full-bodied palate that is back under control, but there is a dense package of firm, fine tannins, dried fruit and spice waiting to burst out. It's hard to believe this wine is only 17% alcohol, it's so well constructed. It will be superb in a year or two and beyond if you can resist the temptation now. Best from 2023 onwards." James Suckling
"Spicy, woody black cherry, blueberry jam and coffee scents are joined by deep, rich, earthy and almost-jammy flavours, with cocoa and damson. Round and extremely fresh with a persistent finish, this is by no means a shrinking violet yet has the balance to match its considerable concentration and heft." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
An exotic blend of sweet smoke and cloves gives way to dusty black cherries and a hint of sour citrus fruit as the 2019 vintage unfolds in the glass. After a while, there are hints of musk and floral undergrowth. Pure elegance on the palate, delicate and silky, but also with a core of salty minerals that adds unexpected depth to the vibrant flavours of tart wild berries and spices. Finishes with incredible persistence but also composure, structured yet primary, just as it should be at this young stage. The higher altitudes and almost minimalist winemaking at Le Potazzine have helped to produce one of the most balanced and interesting wines of the 2019 top vintage for us. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium, shiny ruby red colour with a slightly lighter rim. Elegant and sweetish fruity notes of raspberries, strawberries and cherries on the nose, some red rose petals and a hint of liquorice, with a thyme background. Very balanced on the palate with beautiful acidity and fine tannins, very juicy on the final." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Still quite tight and backward on the nose with shy cherry spiked with minerally notes. Tightly knit palate with cherry framed by a big layer of firm, finely ground tannins that cling to the inside of the cheeks. Elegant and long and still embryonic." Jancis Robinson
"Expressive red-fruit and floral notes, followed by cloves and a touch of fresh mint leaves. Medium-bodied with firm and sturdy tannins. Precise and compact on the palate. Give it more time to soften." James Suckling
"Bright and pure, featuring strawberry, cherry, rose, mineral and wild herb flavors. This straddles the line between delicate, elegant and electric, with vivid acidity and resonant tannins. Offers superb harmony and a lingering aftertaste of red fruit." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino delivers all the goods. The bouquet opens to dried cranberry, redcurrant, rosemary flower and light spice. The palate is streamlined and elegant, concluding with powdery tannins." Wine Advocate
"Le Potazzine’s Brunello 2019 exhibits all the vintage’s signature fragrance. Heady cherry blossom, freesia and violet entice immediately while promising more to come. Pure and delineated, the palate offers almost a plushness of strawberry and red cherry, then long, suede-like tannins arrive in waves, never drowning out the fruit. Dense yet spacious with a sophisticated texture, this needs more time." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is stunning and unmissable from the first sip. It combines an array of dried flowers with autumnal spices, cherries with cedar and cloves in a way that I find very appealing. On the palate, it has a texture of pure silk accompanied by bright acidity, while deep wild berries and mineral notes unfold towards the end. The 2019 lingers incredibly long, leaving a hint of primary concentration intermingled with grippy tannins and liquorice nuances, while retaining an airy freshness. The combination of house style and vintage character is unique. It will take a lot of willpower not to pick up the 2019 long enough to see it mature properly. Captivating." Vinous
"Intense and clean aromas reminiscent of blackberries, floral notes of peonies and wild roses with a finish of eucalyptus and rhubarb. Great balance and finesse on the palate, crisp and fresh drinkability, elegant and savoury tannins, with a return of chinotto and basil." Luca Gardini

Dry and wonderfully long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense straw yellow with a golden shimmer, fine, persistent mousseux. Elegantly restrained on the nose, reminiscent of sea breeze, some peach and lemon, followed by crusty bread. Structured and racy on the palate, pleasantly creamy, vibrant acidity, animating, salty finish, good length." Falstaff
"This graceful sparkler is round and plushly creamy on the palate, offering a bright backbone of citrusy acidity and a streak of salinity meshed with flavors of baked white cherry and toasted almond, plus hints of glazed tangerine and lemon thyme." Wine Spectator
"100% Pinot Noir aged for six years on the lees lifts from the glass aromas from an almost opened bakery with fresh croissants and fruit tarts being pulled from the oven. Drizzled honey, cream and roasted almond aromas quickly follow to entice you further into the glass. The richness is immediate with baked orchard fruit and lemon peel striking a pose on the palate as creme fraiche and subtle berry hints pop on the the palate that struts to the finish where pure mountain minerality embraces the palate and sharpens the wine to a fine point." Brunello di Montalcino “Le Lucére” DOCG 2018
The vineyard of the same name has been producing a very balanced Brunello for years. Le Lucère 2018 delights us with its attractive bouquet of wild berries, cinnamon and damp undergrowth. Fine tannins, an invigorating acid wire and a supple texture. As it progresses, hints of citrus, minerals and herbs. A complex and very convincing wine that will continue to grow in the coming years. "This is a medium to full-bodied Sangiovese with dark and spicy tones that turn to dark fruit and plum. The San Filippo 2018 Brunello di Montalcino le Lucére shows abundant aromas of sour cherry and dried raspberry, giving the wine a bright first impression. After a short time, a second wave of toasted aromas and spices comes in. The finish is soft, lean and polished." Wine Advocate
"A supple, delicate version that evokes flavours of cherry, liquorice, white pepper, earth and rosehip. Intense and balanced, with a gauzy texture that builds to a chalky feel on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Already complex and open, with aromas of slate, dried rosemary, grilled sage, lemon peel, sour cherries and cardamom. Smooth and full-bodied with supple and fine tannins. I like the undertones of olive pits and herbs. Strong, mineral finish. Taste after 2025." James Suckling
"La Lucère was planted in 1997 and is surrounded by forest on three sides. The windy, east-facing site is relatively cool and is always the last of the vineyard to be harvested. The 2018, which was aged in lightly toasted barriques and tonneaux, is the most elegant and effortlessly balanced wine I have tasted from this estate. It opens with attractive scents of cinnamon, violets and rosemary and has an impressive concentration of wild berry flavours, but is not heavy. The integrated acidity gives the wine the right support, and the tannins are long and fine, adding texture and shape. The best is yet to come." Decanter
"Le Lucére, the usual expression of the substance inherent in the wines of San Filippo, in a vintage that shows a beautiful opulence. Notes of Vignola cherries on the nose, hints of rhubarb and undergrowth, with a finish of wild mint. Juicy tannins in the mouth, with a return of fruit and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Barbaresco “Pajoré" DOCG 2021
The Sottimano winery has five vineyard sites, with the Pajoré site near Treiso having the poorest soil of all. These wines are therefore more elegant and mature. Pajoré is a super-classic, explosive wine, endowed with enormous depth and character. Although it has plenty of breadth and texture, it remains light on its feet. Lavender, mint, liquorice and purple berry fruits are beguiling and wonderfully lively in the glass. Pajorè is a spicy, elegant and sweet Nebbiolo that is fine yet covers the mouth well - and we are always impressed by its lovely savoury mouthfeel. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Salty and savoury, the minerals jumping out of the glass, and with hints of morocco leather and raspberry. Lots of suave, ripe red fruit on the palate and with a firm structure. Needs at least another year in bottle even if the fruit indicates it is ready now. Very long and the tannins still need to settle." Jancis Robinson
"A floral and fruity journey of discovery awaits you with every sip of this enchanting wine. Tantalising aromas whisk you away to a garden in bloom, where fresh wild cherries play amidst swirling rose petals and fragrant herbs. On the palate, ripe red fruits combine with sweet spices, fine tannins and a lively acidity that keeps every sip lively and balanced." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2021 Barbaresco Pajorè is a wild, exotic wine that combines the intensity of the vintage with plenty of classic structure. It is rich and full-bodied, but the Pajorè is quite closed today, as it almost always is at this stage. Sage, lavender, menthol, liquorice and a whole range of balsamic influences lead to a strong, brooding finish." Vinous

Barbaresco “Cottà" DOCG 2021
Bright garnet red with a copper-coloured rim. Fine aromas of red fruit and sea buckthorn. Forest earth paired with a hint of tobacco and bitter almond. Still young, initially loud tannins in the glass, then softer tones with a little air and a powerful, lasting final. An elegant, aristocratic wine that leaves a lasting impression, and not just with the first glass. SUPERIORE.DE
"Almost medium ruby red colour. Complex mineral nose with hints of red fruit. Juicy red fruits that are still developing. Fresh and fluid on the palate, with lots of gravelly tannins on the finish. It is still in its infancy, but shows real class." Jancis Robinson
"Dark aromas from the heart of the forest, reminiscent of a Grimm's fairy tale, rise from the glass, interwoven with candied black cherries and a captivating blend of sweet and savoury spices, including cinnamon, clove and allspice. This cru wine from Cottá shows the purity of the fruit: Currants, cranberries and tart blackberries combine with spicy and earthy flavours. The tannins grip tightly, like a friendly handshake after a long absence, while the fresh palate adds more before the next enchanting sip." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2021 Barbaresco Cottá is, as is so often the case, one of the most expressive wines in this range. Aromatically expressive and light on its feet, the 2021 delivers tonnes of flavour intensity, but without excessive weight. The return to more traditional winemaking has made the Cottá much lighter, moving away from some of the stickier interpretations of the past. I imagine the 2021 will drink well with minimal cellaring time." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
Rose petals, mint, cinnamon, dark sweet cherries and smoke lift from the glass in a translucent, wiry Brunello that builds on energy, power and opulence. Here, length and fruit are in the foreground and, together with a clearly defined tannin structure, Leopoldo Franceschi's team has produced a wine here in a very classic vintage that will really reveal itself over the next few years. As always, it is one of our favourites, and its still outstanding value is also great fun! SUPERIORE.DE
"Wide-ranging bouquet with lots of cedar, ripe red and dark fruits, wild strawberries, cassis and red currants. Behind this, the wood barrel ageing also shows with fine cedar, cloves and dark spices as well as herbs. Rich, almost meaty and dense palate, not quite as dense as 2016, but immensely present freshness and dynamism, also the tannin network seems a bit leaner than usual and of best quality. Very persistent and long aftertaste with crunchy berries on the final." Weinwisser
"Firm, a touch animalic aroma of ripe mixed berries and a hint of plums with fleshy notes, tart nutty hints, pepper and ethereal herbal tones. Taut, tart, ripe, quite dense fruit, present, fine, youthful tannin and some acid bite, persistent, slightly herbaceous, tobacco and peppery, clearly salt in the background, plenty of power but also freshness, not eternally deep but perfectly vinified, very good, firm, tart finish." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby red. Spicy-animalic nose, then ripe Amarena cherry and plum, walnut, undergrowth, shoe polish. On the palate equally earthy tones, wide-meshed tannin, plus dark fruit." Falstaff
"Shiny, deep ruby red. In the nose still quite closed with just a hint of Moroccan leather. On the palate pure cherry fruit flavours with lots of ripe acidity. Fantastic, compact, gravelly tannins that are a real tour de force in this vintage. A hedonistic whole that you can already approach but will improve with time." Jancis Robinson
"A smoky entry leads to leather and tobacco nuances that repeat on the palate. The 2018 is packed with flavours of cherries and baking spices. It feels medium-bodied but is very rich and its powerful bite contributes positively to the pleasing mouthfeel. It will get even better with another year in bottle." Decanter
"This is a flavourful, complex Brunello with aromas of fresh and sour cherries, plums, bay leaves, rosemary and olives. Also cloves and liquorice. It is medium to full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Supple and well integrated, with a long and deliciously spicy finish." James Suckling
"The Il Poggione 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows a dark and spicy character with more fruit weight and concentration than can be found in many of its competitors. This wine shows a dense focus padded with dark cherry, blackberry, roasted spice, mahogany smoked meat and ploughed earth. Despite the powerful flavours, this Sangiovese is actually quite lean and polished in texture. The tannins are soft and easily accessible. The estate's Riserva Vigna Paganelli was not made in 2018, so the fruit from this wine came here instead." Wine Advocate
"The dense structure sets the pace for this red wine, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, mint and tar that are appealing and expressive. Rosehip, orange peel and earth are evident in the long, expansive aftertaste. It is designed to last a long time." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino impresses from the first swirl of the glass, with a heady burst of exotic spices and crushed ash giving way to dried black cherries and grilled herbs. It combines the energy of the vintage with the dark, balsamic fruits of Montalcino's southern foothills, while zesty acidity maintains balance and minerals saturate towards the finish. The finish is long, savoury and structured, but its tannins are rounder than expected, giving it a classic feel but also leaving a delicious sensation that tempts the taster to reach for the glass again and again. The 2018 is certainly one of the top wines of the vintage, not to be missed." Vinous
"One of the first wineries to deal in Brunello, one of the founding members of the Consortium. A Brunello characterised by freshness, pomegranate on the nose, hints of citrus thyme and white pepper. The palate has juicy tannins with a fruity return." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Tenuta Nuova” DOCG 2017
Indisputably - and not only in the 2017 vintage - one of Italy's cult wines: a beguiling nose of sour cherries and black berries, with hints of spices. In the mouth a variety of aromas, especially dark fruits. The perfectly integrated acidity and soft, almost sweet tannins characterise the long finish. A wonderfully powerful, juicy and dense Brunello with excellent Storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"30% less yield, from the south to south-eastern sites. Intense bouquet with abundant balsamic notes, clearly tobacco and chocolate as well as dark red and blue fruits reminiscent of plum and dark cherry. Lively, immensely material-melting palate with juicy-soft contours, the hot year shows dark berry fruit and a tightly clinging but definitely sweet tannin. The hot year well reined in." Weinwisser
"Rich, sparkling garnet red. Intense nose with notes of pomegranate, red beet, then lots of plum and dark cherry. Hearty and gripping on the palate, dark berry fruit, then opens up with lots of dense tannin, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Tenuta Nuova comes from the Le Cetine vineyard of Casanova di Neri in the south of Montalcino. With a full southern exposure from east to west, it is a sun-drenched, Mediterranean expression of Brunello. The 2017 takes a little persuasion at first, but then cherry bark, cinnamon, liquorice root and gardenia rise from the glass. The grainy tannins on the attack slowly dissolve into a fine, dusty powder, revealing smooth, round blackcurrants. Citrusy acidity keeps it lively, while notes of dark chocolate and mint linger." Decanter
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Cascina Nuova presents a multi-layered aroma of peppery herbs, musky plums, black raspberries, crushed stone, tobacco and smoke. It is silky yet juicy, supple and beguiling to the senses, with violet and lavender tones balanced by cooling acids and a hint of candied citrus. The 2017 really plays with the palate; it is spicy, long and intense, lightly structured yet classically dry. Balsamic herbs, salted liquorice - it goes on and on like a spice box menagerie. An elegant pleasure bomb." Vinous
"Expressive, complex and long, despite its compact profile today. It offers flavours of black cherries, blackberries, violets, minerals and tobacco that come through, while assertive but refined tannins leave their mark on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Lots of red plums and cherries on the nose, full-bodied on the palate with thick, silky tannins and a fresh and tasty finish. The tannins are in good balance with the ripe fruit. Fresh and transparent on the finish." James Suckling
"This is one of my all-time favourite Brunellos, and although personal tastes are fluid and can change from time to time, there is something timeless and solid about this wine. It is like a touchstone. The Casanova di Neri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is adorned with a similar interlude of elegant rose or crushed flowers as we saw in the Annata wine. It is even more prominent here, with more shape and concentrated intensity. Giacomo Neri makes wines for pleasure and sensual impact, and this wine meets all those criteria. But it also shows a floral elegance and sour cherry freshness that exceeds our expectations for the vintage." Wine Advocate
"A very ambitious project for a wine that is already iconic. The nose is taut, vertical, with hints of raspberry, balsamic notes of eucalyptus and a floral, tulip finish. The mouthfeel is crisp and dense, with salty, chalky tannins. The trace of medicinal herbs returns in the aftertaste." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ginestra “Ciabot Mentin” DOCG 2019
The great Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra from the historic Clerico vineyard. Bright garnet red colour. Open-hearted bouquet of ripe fruit and spices, the elegant tannins are accompanied by a pleasant freshness in the complex flavour, deep and long on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red with brightening edges. Inviting aroma of cherries, ripe raspberries and plums, leather and sweet tobacco. Powerful and juicy on the palate, precise fruit flavours." Falstaff
"Firm and quite deep, youthful aroma of ripe black and red berries with moderate, slightly bitter-chocolatey wood spice, tobacco notes and floral traces, tomato essence, roasted notes and a hint of pepper. Ripe, firm, tart-juicy fruit, youthful, quite present, yet polished tannins, smoky and very slightly roasted notes, a certain acid bite, a little coffee in the background, salty minerality, certain depth, still completely undeveloped, has freshness and tension, very good, tart-juicy and again somewhat smoky-spicy finish with bite." Wein-plus
"Perfumed and beautiful, with notes of sliced berries, melon, citrus and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied with juicy tannins, chewy and beautiful. Focussed and spicy on the finish. Very transparent and concentrated. Try after 2027." James Suckling
"An imminent but solidly structured red wine characterised by aromas of cherry, eucalyptus, tar, iron and tobacco. It tightens up on the finish, leaving behind compact, mouth-coating tannins. Should develop into a core of pure, ripe fruit in the future." Wine Spectator
"The Domenico Clerico 2019 Barolo Ginestra Ciabot Mentin is a little closed at first. This is a characteristic I found in a vintage that gives us good reason to focus on long bottle ageing. There are dark fruits and spices with liquorice and grilled herbs. Rusty mineral nuances also slowly emerge from the bouquet. This wine needs a double decant if drunk young, but it's better to wait. When I returned 24 hours later for my open tasting, the wine sang beautifully." Wine Advocate
"Nose with hints of black cherry under spirits, touches of wild mint, cinnamon and fresh thyme. In the taste savory tannins, fruity-balsamic and officinal notes. Long lasting persistence." Luca Gardini
"The Ciabot Mentin was planted in 1978 in Ginestra, between 390 and 420 metres above sea level - relatively high for Barolo - but mostly with an eastern exposure, which enhances the freshness and elegance of this wine. The 2019 is indeed cool, with a fresh violet scent, a certain meatiness and black cherry fruit and an almost rosemary-like aromatic character. Its extreme youth is emphasised by crisp acidity and supple, velvety tannins. A very precise wine, still complex and ripe, but also full of potential for the long haul." Decanter

“Castello Fonterutoli” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family has for the first time vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione to reflect the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiola.
Castello di Fonterutoli comes from 11 different plots at an altitude of 420-510 m around the hamlet of Fonterutoli in Castellina in Chianti. It is quasi the "château" and at the same time the oldest cru of the winery and was first produced in 1995 as the predecessor of today's Gran Selezione. Rich colour and a clear scent of blackberries, cherries, violets and flowers, plus some nougat. This full-bodied Castello Fonterutoli impresses with its beguiling extract sweetness and polished tannin. The intense and concentrated taste enchants the senses. The long final is full of elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Engaging raspberry and floral bouquet; dynamic evolution on the palate, combining juice and polish, the acidity lively, the tannins tight, elegant finish." Vinum
"Bright, radiant ruby red. Somewhat restrained on the nose, gentle hints of orange zest and raspberries. On the palate juicy and with a red berry fruit core, shows itself elegant and drinky, currently still very young, in the finish delicate pressure with a lot of finesse, salty." Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red. Brooding sweet fruit with malt notes and the scent of oak. Fantastic concentration of tangy cherry fruit on the palate. Very long, deep and smooth." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello Fonterutoli is laced with sweet red cherry, tobacco, spices, incense, mint, dried herbs and orange peel. Medium-bodied, with plenty of aromatic drive and energy, the Castello is another fine offering in this Mazzei family range." Vinous
"Fonterutoli is located at the confluence of Castellina, Radda and Vagliagli. Since 2017, the Mazzei family has been producing three different Gran Selezione to highlight the individual communes. The Castello Fonterutoli, which comes from farms in Castellina, shows woody aromas of cedar, cinnamon and cloves. The palate is lush with cherry and plum still wrapped in oak. The tannins are polished and the graininess gives it structure. The finish shows racy acidity, bringing out notes of mint and violets." Decanter
"Packed with fresh cherry, raspberry, blackberry and violet flavors, this red starts out silky before yielding to firm, dusty tannins. Still, this offers nice tension and a lingering aftertaste of pure fruit." Wine Spectator
"The beautiful 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello Fonterutoli comes from a special site with silly limestone soils punctuated by lots of stones. The wine is particularly balanced and bright in this vintage, with lots of cherry fruit, gravel, dusty minerals and blue flowers. The tannins are sweet and rich, contributing to an elegant, medium-bodied mouthfeel. The high altitude vineyard sites ensure the freshness of this wine." Wine Advocate
"A top Chianti Classico that smells of dark cherries, rose petals and cedar on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied and very structured with lots of tannins. Needs time to mellow. Taste after 2024." James Suckling
"A selection of about 50 plots, a blend of Sangiovese, Colorino, Malvasia Noir, for one of the great labels of Gran Selezione on the market. Notes of black mulberry, hints of clove and turmeric, nuances of ginger. On the palate, juicy-salty, persistent, with fruity-floral hints and great density-crispness." Luca Gardini

“San Leonardo” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019
San Leonardo is the flagship of the winery of the same name and one of the best red wines in Trentino every year. Opulent bouquet with nuances of dark fruit such as blackberry and sour cherry. Delicate notes of spices, leather and tobacco give it a terrific complexity, which is then enhanced on the palate by a harmonious interplay of dark berries and plums, all flanked by clearly contoured tannins. A masterful red with a strong personality that will reach its true greatness after a few more years of bottle ageing and live up to its reputation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Transparent garnet red colour. High-toned, with balsamic notes and some black pepper. Extremely graceful - not intrusive. Already very likeable, but with time it will certainly develop even more complexity. A wine for the table and with food that is not too intrusive." Jancis Robinson
"Though carrying an elegant sense of poise, this supple, medium- to full-bodied red isn't all laced up. Instead, its fragrant tobacco and espresso accents to the ripe black and red currant fruit flavors are flashes that impart well-tailored charm. Long and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins emerging on the creamy finish of spice and mineral notes." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 San Leonardo is unmissable and epitomises everything I love about this northern Italian Bordeaux blend. Masses of white pepper, sage, incense, sandy earth and fresh tobacco give way to dusty redcurrants. This wine is a paragon of elegance yet savoury and flavoursome at its core, with mineral red and black fruits flowing over a silky texture. The 2019 finishes classically dry with a crisp tannin but retains an impossible freshness as the savoury herbal tones slowly fade. It's stunning and reminiscent of the absolute top vintages I've ever tasted from San Leonardo." Vinous
"The cool profile of this wine is evident in the fresh and spicy aromas of red and blackcurrant, leafy lightness, capsicum and leather with a hint of smoke. The complexity of the nose is supported by an elegant palate, with a structure of filigree tannins, crisp, integrated acidity, a medium body and a long, super spicy aftertaste reminiscent of dark cherries." Brunello di Montalcino “Le Lucére” DOCG 2019
The vineyard of the same name has been producing a very powerful and highly individual Brunello for years and it cannot be said that this Brunello is not expressive - it is downright expressionistic in its aura and presentation! On the nose, exuberant aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, violets, porcini mushrooms and iron. On the palate, it is complex, multi-layered, supple and harmonious, with a firm backbone of tannins that are refined and integrated. It shows outstanding length and complexity and, in the top 2019 vintage, is a very dazzling red wine characterised through and through by its extraordinary terroir and with wonderful potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, round and juicy, this satiny and harmonious red sports cherry, plum, blackberry and chocolate flavors. Even the tannins are civilized and well-integrated, providing an overall charm. Expansive on the finish, with notes of mint, dusty mineral and spices." Wine Spectator
"The Brunello di Montalcino le Lucére 2019 is a dark, concentrated wine with black fruits and a very creamy side. There are aromas of coconut butter and vanilla that meet bakery flavours of croissants or pie crust. The oak ageing is considerable, but I give it good cellaring potential as it evolves, especially because there is a lot of dark primary fruit that gives it an ageing dynamic." Wine Advocate
"Black cherry, cedar and dried flowers on the nose, followed by a medium to full body with chewy tannins and a savoury finish. Lots of structure. Muscular and full-bodied, yet soft and beautiful." James Suckling
"It is full of smoky forest flavours with graphite vibes and minerality, cherry pit, heady violet and blood orange depth. On the mid palate it is very concentrated and voluminous, with fine, very precise tannins and refreshing acidity. But what impresses me most is the savoury character of this Brunello, which is built for the long haul." Decanter

“Il Nocio dei Boscarelli” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2019
Il Nocio, a Nobile di Montepulciano from a single vineyard, impressively demonstrates the true essence of the Sangiovese grape and has also been one of the region's quality leaders for years. Deep red, intense aromas of sour cherry, redcurrant, rose petals, violets and sweet spices. Dense, juicy and elegant on the palate, with fresh, pure fruit and smoothly polished tannins. Lively mineral and floral nuances in the very long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, baroque ruby red colour. Radiant nose of ripe forest fruit, cranberries, cherries, with some leather in the aftertaste and light spice. Opens up on the palate with elegant use of wood and polished red cranberry fruit, with beautiful juiciness, firm pressure on the finish, minimally broad on the finish, already accessible." Falstaff
"Packs ample flesh, wrapped around flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum, cedar, earth and tobacco. Features flashes of juniper and wild rosemary that dapple its impressive length, while dusty tannins prevail on the lengthy finish." Wine Spectator
"Dark and earthy in the glass, the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Il Nocio smolders up with a blend of crushed ashen stones and savory herbs, underbrush and camphor. This is a round effort, with a mineral tinge up front and depths of red and black fruits that slowly saturate the palate toward the close. A balsamic twang punctuates the finish, combined with a web of fine-grained tannins as the 2019 tapers off long and structured, simply begging for the cellar. This is a classic in the making." Vinous
"Tarry berries, black mineral, dried orange rind and mussels on the nose. I like the chalky tannin structure and the pithiness here that makes you think of the build of a fine Serralunga d'Alba Barolo. Tight, bold and very austere, for sure, but so attractive and gastronomic at the same time. The tannins make you feel hungry. Give it time to unwind." James Suckling
"Three hectares just over 45 years old, flagship wine for Nobile di Montepulciano in the world. Nose of marasca cherries under spirits, mulberry, great balsamic cue and hints of undergrowth. The sip is vigorous, iodine-rich, juicy and at the same time complex, crisp, with great persistence." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2017 (BIO)
Dark bouquet of cherry and plum sauces mixed with cloves and grapefruit peel. This is pure elegance, rich and supple, even polished in feel, while masses of mineral-tinged red berries flow over a core of vibrant acidity. The tannins arrive late and intermingle with a concentrated layer of primary fruit, leaving a classically structured impression. It is already clear that this wine will make its fans very happy in a few years' time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very dark ruby with narrow, bricky rim. Quite closed on the nose with just noticeable sweet cherry touches and a little lift. Massive, monolithic cherry fruit on the palate with tangy acidity creeping up on the finish. Bags of gravelly tannins that need the polish of time. Lots of potential, but still embryonic." Jancis Robinson
"San Polino’s Riserva was crafted from ‘one particular boat-rocker of a vat,’ according to proprietor, Katia Nussbaum. While she could have made 4,000 bottles, she blended most of it into the Helichrysum selection, keeping just 1,000 litres for this Riserva. It's a heady mix of cinnamon, allspice, vanilla and dried fennel. The palate is plentiful, with cherry compote, sweet herbs and a chalky structure. A slight dryness of tannins is countered by the sweet, ripe core and voluminous fruit. Perhaps not perfectly balanced, but crammed with boisterous, cheerful character." Vinous
"Sour cherries, licorice, lemon verbena and balsamic on the nose. There’s lavender and sandalwood, too. So much pure sangiovese character with tangy acidity and juicy sour and savory hints carrying this wine long. Firm, grippy tannins that are at the forefront for now. Give it a few years." Barbaresco “Il Bricco” DOCG 2018
Barbaresco Bricco di Treiso presents itself with more power and depth than the normal Barbaresco. On the nose, dark red stone fruit, menthol, spices, leather and some cedar. On the palate, punchy even when young and with a great deal of muscularity, which, together with the harmoniously balanced tannin and acid structure, foreshadows a great, long life with a hopeful development. SUPERIORE.DE
"Combines the elegance promised by the provenance with sweet aromatics and abundant fruit, always underpinned by a certain sweetness with a hint of nougat, offering depth, salinity and fine acidity on the quite long finish. Shows what is in the 2018 vintage." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, intense ruby garnet, light rim. Shows notes of rose petals, raspberries, some tobacco and truffle on the nose. Pithy tannin, spreads out richly, lots of tobacco and leather, then slightly sandy tannin in the back." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Like an amplified version of their straight Barbaresco. Firm nose which is perfumed at the same time. Cherry with hints of tobacco leaf, iron, orange skin and cumin. Increasingly minerally with aeration. Iron and orange and a hint again of cumin. Fine-grained, long tannins carrying the supple fruit. Can be approached now, but ideally should get more time in the bottle." Jancis Robinson
"A rich, well-defined style, this red evokes cherry, raspberry, iron, menthol and tobacco flavors. Broad tannins announce the finish, yet this remains balanced, intense and energetic, with a lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barbaresco Il Bricco is a worthy follow-up to the stellar 2017. Menthol, licorice, gravel, incense and a range of deeply-pitched spice notes open first, but it is the wine's overall depth that I find especially alluring. Racy and complex, yet so refined, the 2018 has a ton to offer. Best of all, it can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. It's a gorgeous Barbaresco that captures the essence of Treiso." Vinous
"The 2018 Barbaresco Il Bricco shows ample depth and intensity with dark fruit, smoke, toasted spice and cured tobacco. This is a production of 6,393 numbered bottles. This vintage shows a mid-weight approach with rich fruit weight and polished tannins." Wine Advocate
"This is a very solid red for the vintage, with a medium to full body and extremely refined and focused tannins that run the length of the wine. Bitter-lemon, strawberry and spice flavors. Compact and long. Try after 2025." James Suckling
"The Barbaresco ‘selection’ of Pio Cesare, coming from 3 microzones located in the highest part of the vineyards of Cascina Il Bricco in Treiso. Great freshness on the nose, with notes of raspberry, blood orange, gardenia, then cloves. Palate of density and tension, savory tannins, finish of pleasant persistence." Luca Gardini

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2012
Strong ruby red. Opulent aromas of dark berries, mint, spices, forest floor and undergrowth. In the balanced, powerful drink very clear, juicy and tight. Spreads comfortably with notes of plum, raspberry compote and chocolate. This great Amarone captivates from the first sip - its long, silky finish leaves nothing to be desired. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, brilliant ruby red. Medicinal tones in the nose, balsamic, eucalyptus, black currants, in the reverberation easily after rubber. Fresh and juicy on the palate, stretches clear and long across the tongue, concentrated yet fruity, precise, has lively acidity, long and savoury finish." Falstaff
"Inviting aromas of tilled soil, underbrush and ripe dark-skinned berry lead the nose. The full-bodied concentrated palate delivers prune, raspberry compote, star anise and black pepper alongside big fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The incredible spice, black-plum and bitter cocoa-powder nose of this Amarone rivets you to the spot. Stunning concentration and a breathtaking balance of fruit, tannin and some magic. Very long, silky finish." James Suckling
"The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi shows huge intensity over a robust mouthfeel. I love that eucalyptus balsamic note that comes up at the top, rounded off by softer notes of chocolate and tobacco. The blend is 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and a 10% selection of Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina. Aging takes place in large Slavonian oak casks. This is a powerful, full-bodied wine with a knockout 17% alcohol punch that makes no apologies for its strength. It comes forward with pride and boastfulness." Wine Advocate

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2018
Valter Fissore bottles less than 4,000 bottles of this incredibly classic Barolo every year. Dark cherries, menthol, flowers and tar are just some of the classic notes in the complex bouquet of the Bricco Pernice from the Ravera single vineyard. On the palate, the austere structure and great power are joined by a fine inner sweetness. In the long finish, memories of damp earth, dried herbs and wild flowers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium ruby red with orange. A pretty, lifted, complex bouquet with spicy, mineral top notes and minty oak notes. Needs a lot of air. Cranberry and raspberry with crisp tannins. A Barolo of the cool climate. Its character is closer to the excellent 2019 vintage than 2018. Great length and precision." Jancis Robinson
"Very attractive, perfumed nose with cherries and raspberries, hints of spiced cedar, walnut and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied with grainy tannins and chalky texture. Fresh red fruits with racy, citrusy notes on the finish. Taste it from 2026." James Suckling
"Perfumed, it exudes aromas of rose, cherry, raspberry, anise and menthol, with berry fruit persisting on the palate along with mineral and herbal flavours. Although expressive and balanced, it shows tannin and should develop well." Wine Spectator
"Bright, shiny ruby garnet with brightening rim. Great, inviting nose of fresh mint, blackberries, liquorice, then raspberries and candied rose petal. Very polished and with a creamy texture on the palate, tightly woven salty tannin wraps the clear fruit, subtle notes of blood orange, very elegant and long." Falstaff
"This wine shows just how elegant Nebbiolo is with aromas of wild raspberries and cherry preserves giving way to wild herbs, rosebuds and earth. The palate is lifted and dances with vigor and energy showing its core of fruit but with all elements in harmony and balance." Wine Enthusiast
