What the small Contrada Santo Spirito winery (the Etna branch of Feudo Maccari) has been doing almost unnoticed on Europe's highest active volcano for some years now is quite remarkable.
The motto of the owner family Moretti (Tenuta Sette Ponti, Tuscany) is quite succinct and seemingly simple: "We like authentic, unprocessed wines that are able to convey the aromas and flavours of the land they come from in just a few sips. Wines with a strong personality and an unmistakable identity. Complex wines with a thousand nuances like the land they come from. Witnesses to more than a century of history and life at the foot of Mount Etna."
This resulted in the debut vintages of four new wines, which caused a sensation in the international wine world right from the start and are unfortunately produced in such small quantities that you almost have to search in vain for them outside of Italy.
But only almost. Because we are delighted to be able to present some bottles from the "Animaetnea" boutique project to you today. And we are certain that not only fans of the Burgundian Etna style will love these elegant and fresh wines, some of which are made from ungrafted vines from the high altitudes of the volcano.
