“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019
Here it is, the impressive first Gran Selezione from Riecine, showing more grace than muscle and delivering a Riecine-typical and very precise Burgundian interpretation of the Sangiovese grape.
The grapes come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25 hectare Chianti Classico vineyard planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and situated on old terraces facing south. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and now the winery has managed to purchase this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico area. So it is only logical that the 50th anniversary of the winery and the outstanding 2019 vintage should mark the debut of the new top wine. The bottles are numbered, just 3,233 0.Liters and 50 magnum bottles were bottled.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread that combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich in the mouth, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Develops wonderfully - and should be one of the best Gran Selezione of the vintage "right off the bat". Congratulations on the anniversary! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a gently brightening rim. Expressive nose, clear, initially of fine wild strawberries and some raspberries, red currants and delicate vegetal aromas in the aftertaste. Shows extremely elegant and polished on the palate, with tightly meshed, pithy tannin, very juicy on the back end, with minimally persistent tannin." Falstaff
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is a plump, juicy wine. Black cherry, leather, incense, tobacco and dried herbs meld together nicely in this attractive, curvy Gran Selezione. Deceptive in its mid-weight feel, the 2019 shows terrific depth and fine overall balance." Vinous
"Here is a new and exciting submission from Riecine in Gaiole in Chianti. The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is being released as a special way of commemorating the estate's 50th anniversary. The number 50 appears on the front label. This top-end wine comes off with dark fruit, austere spice and dry wood. Those are the aromas; however, the wine is surprisingly soft and silky in texture. It's a nice dual effect. 3,233 bottles and 50 magnums were released." Wine Advocate
"Blackberry, orange-peel and Spanish-cedar aromas. Exotic fruit, too. Full-bodied with seamless tannins and a very, very long finish. A benchmark Gran Selezione. Structured, yet fine at the same time." James Suckling
"Riecine's first ever Gran Selezione is a true beauty. It comes from the Gittori vineyard, a south-facing plot which sits above 500 metres, planted in 1971 - after renting it for 20 years, the estate was finally able to purchase it in 2019. The nose shows pure, precise fragrances of rose, wildflower, raspberry and spice. Fruit is at the fore, with integrated oak in the background – simply there to support. Youthfully plump and joyful at the moment, the succulent acidity and silky tannins bring vibrancy and alluring texture respectively. It has the depth and complexity worthy of Gran Selezione and is a glorious demonstration that the category isn't solely reserved for muscle-bound powerhouses." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
Piancornello's Riserva delivers a classic Brunello bouquet, combining earthy elements of leather and potting soil with dark plum fruit. These equally sweet and savoury sides are skilfully interwoven, and the rich, concentrated fruit helps to smooth out the full-bodied flavours. An action that is crowned with success, because as a result the Riserva presents itself with an impressive, enhanced overall intensity. The great interplay aptly reflects the beauty of Brunello. It is a magnificent wine with great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plum, dried-berry, cherry and rose-stem aromas follow through to a medium body with firm, silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows length and structure, yet a creamy mouth-feel. Lovely craftsmanship to this. Drink in 2024 and onwards." James Suckling
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva pulls you close with a bouquet of fresh tobacco and brown spice that evolves further to let dried cherries, roses and cedar shavings come to the fore. This is dark and youthfully inward, with dense waves of red and black fruits carried across velvety textures. Salty minerals combine with fine-grained tannins, creating tension toward the close, as brisk acids work to maintain balance, giving way to a long and structured yet fresh finale. The 2016 Riserva is a dark beauty of a wine that will require some time to reveal all of its charms." Vinous
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is faithful to Sangiovese with perfumed aromas of crushed flower, ferrous earth, redcurrant and grilled rosemary. This pretty wine is nicely balanced and elegant with a mid-weight approach and a terrific sense of aromatic purity and delivery. That underlying power does continue to the palate, where the wine is tightly stitched together and quite determined in length. The tannins do a good job of keeping the wine tight and focused. This is another impressive effort from Piancornello." Wine Advocate

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
Rich aromas of black and red berries such as black cherry and blueberry, joined by notes of ripe plum and tamarind. With further aeration then multi-layered notes of ivy, forest floor and freshly cut bark with hints of leather, sweet tobacco and liquorice. The full and silky body is framed by firm but well-integrated tannins supported by excellent acidity. Then, just before the long finish, ripe black fruits enriched by nutmeg and sweet spices. Great its Tuscan identity full of energy and liveliness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red. In the nose notes of small ripe red fruits, cassis, elderberries, violets with a hint of mint and liquorice. On the palate rich, juicy, fruity and with a hint of sweet spice. Persistent finish with well integrated tannins." Falstaff
"This supple red wine features aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, Mediterranean herbs and leather. It shows fine intensity and a lively structure that makes it clear and long on the earthy finish." Wine Spectator
"Currant and floral aromas with some cement and violets. Medium bodied, firm tannins and tangy acidity with lots of citrus peel. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two when it has mellowed." James Suckling
"The organic Camartina 2018 is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese. A consistent performer year after year, this Tuscan blend shows an exotic quality, with barbecue spice or steak sauce framing a core of smooth dark fruit. But the flavours don't stop there. They unfold in the form of balsamic herbs, blue flowers and grilled rosemary." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Camartina is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Dark, brooding and quite closed, the 2018 is going to require cellaring and a good bit of patience, too. Dark-fleshed fruit, leather, spice, menthol and grilled herbs emerge with some coaxing. The Cabernet is quite evident in both the flavor profile and overall structure, which likely explains the wine's general feel today." Vinous

“Il Blu” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
Since its debut in 1988, Il Blu has been the result of constant striving for perfection. With ultra-fine tannins and a smooth and full finish, this full-bodied wine captivates with its complexity and elegance. Il Blu is made from only the best hand-picked and selected grapes from the two vineyards in the Chianti region. Although Sangiovese plays a leading role in the blend, its influence and signature contribute significantly to the overall identity of this special wine.
Rich, unfathomable ruby red. Explosive aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose. The texture is wonderfully balanced, on the palate Il Blu presents itself fresh, persistently powerful and with wonderfully articulated tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a subtly lightening rim. Spicy, noble nose of ripe sour cherries, blackcurrants and elegant use of wood. Juicy on the palate, with clear, well-developed fruit, with still young tannin, still needs some time, salty and punchy on the final." Falstaff
"This is an organic blend that enjoys near iconic status here in Tuscany. Thanks to its long track record, you can count on this Tuscan blended red to deliver top quality. The Brancaia 2020 Il Blu is a full-bodied red with sweet fruit flavors and a rich, velvety texture." Wine Advocate
"Shows a resinous note from the oak that envelops ripe black cherry, plum, leather, mineral and tobacco flavors. This red just keeps building in intensity and fruit on the palate, ending with a succulent, fruit- and spice-infused aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Il Blu is superb. Dark and mysterious at first, the Blu offers up an exotic mélange of blue fruits, mocha, new leather, licorice and lavender. Bright acids play off some of the more over leanings beautifully. Il Blu has long been one of the most distinctive wines in Chianti Classico. The 2020 is another fine edition of Il Blu." Vinous
"Attractive blueberries, brambles and cherries with spiced orange peel and lilac blossom, as well as some smoky dark spices and cocoa. Full, concentrated and very tense, with tightly packed but very polished and fine tannins. Shows a succulence and vibrancy to the fruit with a mineral, slightly chalky finish." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Vecchie Vigne” DOCG 2016
Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne is every year a prime example of the high class of the appellation around the small village of Montalcino. But what can one say about this wine when it is young? It has the potential to be one of the best Brunellos of this outstanding vintage, but it is too early to sum up its true class. Only this much: Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne has everything that reveals the power, size and finesse of this vintage. Aromas of cherry, forest floor, leather, spices, tobacco and plenty of other primary notes of deep black fruit. Explosive, full-bodied and still very closed on the palate, the tannins firm and even stubborn at first - but you can feel the existing depth and balance with every sip, which will make it one of the most convincing and at the same time charming drops of the appellation with further bottle ageing. Impressive, too, is the power and structure that builds up in waves and that it will reveal with each further year of patience and maturity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Siro Pacenti's wines always offer a full concert. This one seems a bit more restrained at first, but opens up clearly with air. Complex aroma with ripe red and blue plums, blueberries, hibiscus, blue-purple flowers (lavender, iris), dark chocolate, behind it many balsamic nuances. Enormously powerful and exciting, very intense and full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness." Weinwisser
"Giancarlo Pacenti's selection from old vines is also convincing in 2016: multi-layered bouquet of wild berries, black pepper and violets; polished in the mouth, with plenty of richness and crisp acidity, the tannins finely meshed and youthful, ending on notes of red berries, flowers and tobacco. Convincing, but should still mature." Vinum
"Sparkling, dark ruby red. Lots of dark berry fruit, mulberries, fresh dark plums, some cardamom. On the palate a lot of compact, grippy tannin, opens up in many layers, gripping and sturdy, grippy tannin forms the backbone of the wine, then drying wood in the final." Falstaff
"This wine opens to a nicely saturated appearance with dark berry, spice and tobacco. The wine is structured and firm, owning its tannins to both the fruit and the barrique. I do find the tannins to be astringent at this young stage, so I would hold off from opening this release for a long while. Like many of the other producers in Montalcino, Giancarlo Pacenti has captured the linearity and focus of the vintage, but his house style ultimately leaves a bigger mark on the fruit." Wine Advocate
"Broad and dense, this red reveals power behind the plum, cherry, earth, leather and underbrush flavors. Will need time to shed its beefy tannins, but the fruit keeps pace on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Menthol, new leather, French oak and spiced blueberry aromas come to the forefront. Full bodied and concentrated, the firmly structured palate delivers dried cherry, grilled Porcini, vanilla and licorice set against assertive, close-grained tannins before closing on a coconut note. Give it time to flesh out in the bottle." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne from Siro Pacenti is dark and youthfully folded in upon itself. This pulls you closer to the glass, as it slowly reveals a nuanced display of olive-tinged blackberry and plum, with hints of mocha, balsamic spice and tanned leather. It's deeply textural, with velvety waves of ripe black fruits laced with tactile minerals, propelled by vibrant acids which carry its medium-bodied weight with ease. Youthfully dense, poised and geared for the long term, the 2016 Vecchie Vigne will require a good amount of cellaring to show all of its charms. Hints of licorice and violet florals echo throughout the long and structured finale." Vinous
"Such wonderful opulence and beauty. The nose shows dried flowers and minerals with blackberries and black cherries. Purity is the word. Full-bodied with incredible depth and structure and polished, silky tannins that envelop your palate. The length is really impressive." James Suckling

“Vigna Rachtl” Sauvignon Bianco Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
Sauvignon Bianco Rachtl comes from a small micro-location of just 0.4 hectares. It gets its fine flint and graphite nose from the porphyry soils near Unteraicha in the municipality of Völs. Very subtle on the palate with fine saline acidity, fresh fruit and a long-lasting finish. If you can call one of the 2,000 bottles of this vintage your own, you can count yourself lucky! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, pale straw yellow with light green notes. Opens with notes of sage and flint, green asparagus and some smoke. Salty on the palate, shows very good tension, finely elaborated fruit, lingers beautifully." Falstaff
"The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Riserva Rachtl shows aromas of candied lemon peel, preserved pineapple and a hint of ripe apricot. The wine has a medium-bodied texture with a certain heaviness of the warm vintage, but also a much-needed acidity. Only 2,000 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate
"Bright flavours of lemon, satsuma and smoky minerals with clean, precise acidity and nice concentration; long and fresh." Decanter

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Tenuta di Valgiano” Rosso Colline Lucchesi DOC 2017
Dark, translucent ruby red shimmers in the glass, looks elegant at first sight. Inviting scent of red and black fruit aromas, almost a forest berry mix with sour cherries. And then again this spiciness so typical for Tenuta di Valgiano, herbal and mineral, fresh and yet Mediterranean, simply incomparable. On the palate, full-bodied, very juicy, extract-sweet fruit, again accompanied by this mineral spiciness. Juicy, deep, with silky elegant tannin structure, with wonderfully balanced fruit-acid play. A wine with finesse and piquancy, length and ageing potential for a good fifteen to twenty years. This wine should be decanted and allowed to breathe in the carafe for at least one to two hours before drinking. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with a light garnet edge. Opens with emphatically ripe notes on the nose, of dried plums, lots of blackberry, some cassis. Finely woven tannin on the palate, builds up in many layers, plus well-integrated sweet melting, long and smooth." Falstaff
"The 2017 Tenuta di Valgiano is dense, powerful and beautifully resonant in the glass. There's plenty of richness, but also a feeling of translucence I find quite intriguing. Sweet dried cherry, cedar, tobacco, mint and dried flowers open with a bit of coaxing. The 2017 is a gorgeous wine." Vinous
"The aromas of violets, berries, tar and sandalwood give a perfumed and subtle impression. Full-bodied with a firm, racy tannin structure and a long, curated finish. Shows freshness and tension for this hot vintage. Serious. Drink after 2025." James Suckling

“Calcarole” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2011 · late release
For the first time, the winery presents a small amount of its matured Amarone flagship "Calcarole" from the very good 2011 vintage as a so-called "late release". Rich, dark, almost decadent bouquet that evokes memories of Christmas cake with brown sugar icing served with a cup of hot cocoa. It is velvety-smooth and full-bodied, yet perfectly balanced, with ripe black fruits mingling with exotic spices, mocha and violet flowers. After almost a minute, you can still taste notes of dark chocolate and a hint of bitter coffee. While the Calcarole shamelessly flaunts its extroverted character, it does so with class. The further five years of bottle ageing have done it more than good! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, brilliant ruby red. Elegant nose of ripe cherries with a fine scent of roses. Creamy attack on the palate with flattering play, expands nicely, pithy red fruit, presents itself very harmoniously until the final, firm pressure." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with hints of amber. Red cherry, dark plums, botanical herbs and minerals on the seductive nose. Dense and very supple, with ripe red cherry, tobacco and sweet spice flavours that are precise, concentrated and layered. The finish is long and lively, offering lingering spicy nuances and a hint of faded rose petals. Just a hint of excessive alcohol lowers my score, but at 16% alcohol this olfactory sensation is virtually unavoidable. A stunning Amarone; if I'm not mistaken, this may be the best Calcarole I've ever tasted." Vinous

“Habemus Etichetta Bianca” Rosso Lazio IGT 2022
The classic Habemus with its white label is probably the most famous wine of the exceptional Roman winemaker Emanuele Pangrazi. This may not only be due to its extreme quality, but also to the relatively large production of 9,000 bottles per vintage for the boutique winery, which should ensure a certain distribution at least in international connoisseur circles. Habemus is one of the 100 best wines in Italy every year and, with its style inspired by the great wines of the Rhone, at least casts a small but very bright light on the wine region of Lazio, which is otherwise not particularly conspicuous in terms of exceptional wines.
Intense, almost impenetrable ruby red. In the expansive bouquet aromas of black cherries, blackberries, spices, smoke, tobacco, lavender and crushed stones. The palate is full-bodied and complex with remarkable concentration and depth. Habemus is beautifully balanced with a velvety texture and a wonderful sense of freshness that lasts until the long, expansive finish full of dark fruits and lavender notes. SUPERIORE.DE

Brunello di Montalcino “Ugolaia” DOCG 2017
Ugolaia is a 1.7-hectare, south-west-facing plot with a view of the sea, where the temperature fluctuations between day and night are considerable. The estate's oldest vines grow here on red iron soil.
Lively, full red colour. Cool notes of watercress and mint complement fresh red cherries and crunchy chocolate-covered redcurrants. Rich, subtly sweet and very supple on the palate, with a juicy brightness that highlights the excellent cut and clarity of its red fruit and floral flavours. The characterful finish is refreshing with its lingering violet flavour. Very polished and velvety at the same time, a great wine every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful berry nose, spiced up with notes of pepper and leather; the attack is compact, the tannins robust, the acidity noticeable, has fullness, power and juice. The beguiling final completes the perfect impression." Vinum
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Mineral and brooding on the nose and still quite closed. Lots of soft yet spicy fruit. Still somewhat powerful at the moment, but very promising and with firm but very fine tannins. Long, complex and juicy finish. Stunning, but still far from mature." Jancis Robinson
"Rich ruby colour with a slightly brightening garnet rim. Inviting, rich nose with lots of fleshy fruit, cloves, blackberries and plums. Shows beautifully present fruit on the palate, round and balanced, grippy, dense tannins, lingers for a long time, full-bodied." Falstaff
"The Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia 2017 comes from a hot and very dry vintage and shows a dark garnet red colour with particular concentration and texture. The bouquet smells of dark fruits, baked plums and roasted spices. The Ugolaia is complex and rich, but despite the intensity of the vintage, the mouthfeel is of medium length and the wine finishes with a bright freshness." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia smells of dried roses and cherries as well as cinnamon and cloves in the glass. It feels almost velvety, with a dense wave of tart wild berries accompanied by a hint of sour citrus and balsamic spice. Nuances of plum and liquorice linger as the 2017 finishes structured, but not austere, with hints of mocha and redcurrant. The Ugolaia is another example of Lisini's success in this difficult vintage. Nevertheless, it will need a few more years to fully develop." Vinous
"Full-bodied with ripe and dried cherries, spiced plums, chocolate and blueberries, supported by polished tannins. Also well-integrated spices and dried flowers. Ripe and expansive, with a soft and supple texture that makes it very approachable and satisfying." James Suckling
"Lisini's single-vineyard selection shows its usual exotic side in 2017. It opens with an intoxicating blend of incense, juniper, pressed lilac and lavender. There's also that polished wood nuance that I associate with the wine's six months of ageing in chestnut barrels. On the palate, it is even denser than the estate's Brunello annata, showing flavours of myrtle and redcurrant underpinned by an appetising salty core. The powerful tannins require another year in the bottle, but are admirably voluptuous. Undoubtedly one of the successes of the vintage." Decanter
"The nose takes you to a forest cabin, full of savory, umami aromas of damp earth, leather and mushrooms, with sharper notes of balsamic and Luxardo cherries coming through. On the palate, the cherry element freshens and brightens, and is lifted by undertones of orange and anise, along with springy tannins and buoyant acid." Wine Enthusiast
"Lush and fruity, this red wine offers flavours of cherries, raspberries, eucalyptus, wild rosemary and minerals, supported by a lively acidity and dense, refined tannins. It offers a balanced overall picture with a long, tasty aftertaste characterised by fruity and mineral elements." Wine Spectator

“Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2020 (BIO)
The vineyards of the Löwengang estate in Margreid have been owned by the Lageder family since 1934. Here, on the rubble cone of ancient dolomite rock below steep cliffs, grape varieties such as Carménère and Cabernet find ideal conditions in the mild climate of the valley.
Löwengang emphasises the unique DNA of the grapes from which this wine is made. Parts of the vineyard are around 145 years old and the vines are among the oldest vineyards in South Tyrol. Count Melchiori, the former owner, planted the plots in Margreid with Cabernet around 1875. At least that's what he thought - because a large proportion of the vines planted at that time were actually Carménère vines. Through intensive study of the vineyard and extensive genetic analyses, the Alois Lageder winery discovered that the vineyard was in fact a mixed set of Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. In order to emphasise the special origin of the grapes, the wine will be offered as the "Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz" from the 2018 vintage onwards.
Complex, concentrated bouquet with fruity hints of cherries and blackcurrants, spicy aromas of tobacco, floral notes of violets and mint and a very elegant woody note. Powerful, straightforward attack, concentrated and dense on the palate. Long-lasting, fresh and fruity final with powerful but by no means aggressive tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"The plot planted with Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in the heart of the Löwengang vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in South Tyrol with vines up to 140 years old. Wild nose with lots of vegetal freshness, mint and floral notes, light-footed and slender on the palate, but with a strong structure, crisp acidity, leafy and earthy notes, raspberry and blackberry jelly, candied violets, tomato spice, traces of dark chocolate, youthfully rough and impetuous tannins, stubborn and exciting." Weinwisser
"Cool, polished, firm and very fine aroma of black and red berries with tobacco and fleshy-animal nuances as well as a little juniper and tobacco. Tart, firm and again quite cool in the mouth, fine juicy fruit with nutty, juniper and herbaceous tones, noticeable acid bite and youthful, yet fine tannin, persistent and dense on the palate, yet slender, good depth, restrained, somewhat cedary wood spice, a little tomato paste, iron and blood, plenty of salt, very good, firm, tart, gripping finish. The absolute opposite of a heavyweight and yet dense, complex and deep - that is an art in itself." Wein-Plus
"Aromas of earth, leather, chocolate and licorice, very spicy and smoky. The attack is soft, with ripe, velvety, almost silky tannins that are chewier on the refreshing, medium-bodied finish." James Suckling

“Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019 (BIO)
Through intensive study of the vineyard and extensive genetic analyses, the Alois Lageder winery discovered that the vineyard was actually a mixed set of Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
"Made from Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Alois Lageder 2019 Alto Adige Löwengang Uvaggio Storico shows dark fruit with a healthy pinch of white pepper and exotic spice. It is a full-bodied red wine with rich concentration and dark fruit, followed by dried mint. With an edition of 3,500 bottles, this is a selection of the best fruit from Tenuta Löwengang in Magrè." Wine Advocate
"Super restrained and fresh yet with bright cassis fruit character, showing rosemary, licorice, leaf and pepper aromas. Soft attack with dense, velvety tannins, crisp acidity, a medium to full body and a savory finish. Intended for the long haul." James Suckling

Radiant dark ruby with violet reflections. Very concentrated, dense aroma of dark red fruits, small berries, underpinned by a harmonious acidity with fine herbal spice. The harmonious and rather cool climate in 2013 brought us a Brunello in the glass that is fresh, elegant and yet very powerful and, above all, strong in personality and robust. Nooks and crannies are quite intentional here. Power and pressure are a matter of course with Valdicava. And the necessary maturity must be patiently endured, but is guaranteed to be rewarded. Vincenzo Abbruzzese has once again shown (to everyone) that Valdicava is one of the absolute top producers of the DOCG Montalcino. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep red. Ample aromas of blackberry, red cherry, and violet, plus a whiff of violet. Dense, creamy and concentrated, offering savory flavors of ripe red cherry, licorice and cocoa lifted by nicely integrated acidity. Finishes quite fleshy, with youthfully chewy tannins and outstanding length. This Brunello may not be the last word in refinement, but it is hard to argue with its early appeal and deliciousness." Vinous
"Valdicava's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautifully saturated expression that opens to a dark garnet appearance and a soothing, velvety texture. The bouquet is packed tight with dark berry nuances, starting with ripe cherry and extending to black fruit tones of fresh prune and plum. The wine's strongest cards are its texture, structure and its power. This is a cool vintage that produced very fine and accessible wines. This expression, however, shows a very different personality with ample volume and long staying power." Wine Advocate
"A juicy, young Brunello with berry, dried mushroom and flower character. Orange peel, too. Full body, firm and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. So complex and beautiful. It goes on for minutes. I love the balance that makes it so enjoyable to try now but it will age for decades ahead. Try to leave it until 2021." James Suckling

After almost twenty years of experience in the vinification of the famous Etna Rosso "Serra della Contessa", the Benanti family decided in 2015 to extend the vinification, ageing and refinement of the wine to 60 months. The result is an exclusive Riserva made from 85% Mascalese and 15% Cappuccio, produced in small quantities from vines over 100 years old (pre-phylloxera) from plot no. 587, which is rightly considered one of the best red wines in the region.
Bright ruby red with light garnet-coloured reflections. Ethereal and intense on the nose, with hints of wild berries, spices, precious wood and traces of white smoke. Full, elegant, harmonious and mineral on the palate, with terrificelegance and length. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose effortlessly blends savory aromas of soil, clean wood and salt with the semisweet astringency of hibiscus, rose petals and wild strawberries. On the palate, raspberries briefly bolster the strawberry, before a powerful earthiness takes over. Acid brings a glint of spice as it sparks off polished, smooth tannins." Decanter
"Crushed stones, rose petals and dried strawberries form a dusty and dark, seductive bouquet when the 2017 Etna Rosso Riserva Serra della Contessa rises from the glass. It is silky-soft and elegant in style. Polished red fruits and mineral tones provide traction under a hint of violet flowers on the inside. A hint of sour citrus fruit combined with a touch of residual acidity provides balance, even if the grippy tannins persist on the long and structured final. Today, the 2017 is primary, but its potential is very great." Vinous
"What fantastic aromas of dried flowers, cloves, smoke and cherries. The wine is medium-bodied with creamy and round tannins that are polished and beautiful. Intensely flavoured. Drinkable now, but it will age beautifully." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Montosoli” DOCG 2018
Montosoli 2018 presents itself in bright ruby and with a clear bouquet of raspberry, blood orange and hot spices. Strict elegance on the palate, red fruits, flowers, tobacco and grass, plus slightly salty minerality, long in the finish. A Burgundy-like style with the tannin and structure of a great Brunello. SUPERIORE.DE
"Classic raspberry and floral aromas, the wood perfectly integrated; polished and finely chiselled on the palate, the tannins and acidity in balance, finishes long." Vinum
"The single vineyard shows itself somewhat more reductive and dense with fine toasted notes, blackberry jam and candied cherries. On the creamy dense palate juicy without end, creamy texture, long and lingering. Has good richness and melting for the vintage." Weinwisser
"Brilliant medium ruby red. Concentrated, sweet, red-fruity bouquet with a hint of oak, but aged only in large oak barrels. Spicy hints. Soy sauce. The same elegant constitution on the palate as the classic Brunello, but with firmer tannins and more compact, youthful fruit. I would wait another two years before approaching this wine. Great length and elegance with a touch of seductive oak." Jancis Robinson
"Altesino's Montosoli was harvested between late September and early October and reduced by 50% due to a rigorous selection of grapes. The nose reveals appealing nuances of vanilla, cedar and truffle that combine beautifully with sweet wild berry aromas. The fine-grained tannins are still tight and firm, enclosing the admirably concentrated core. With further bottle age, it will show even more of its charm." Decanter
"A dense, tannic red, with plum, cherry, menthol, iron and spice flavors driven by lively acidity. A bit more burly than many 2018s, yet this remains vibrant, superlong and complex." Wine Spectator
"The word "Vigna" was added to the official name of this wine to emphasise the work done in the appellation, which focuses on single vineyards. The Altesino 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli comes from a unique site with some of the best vineyard sites on the hillside. This wine has a slightly dark colour and a high concentration and depth. I am excited by the bouquet that reveals dark cherries, blue flowers, crushed stone and grilled herbs. In the background there are sweet roasted aromas and spices. This is one of the most complete and storable wines of the 2018 vintage." Wine Advocate
"Complex nose of cranberries, dried pineapple, soy, bark, cardamom, mocha, iodine and wet leather. Full-bodied, with firm and very fine tannins. The wine gains intensity, unfolding a wide range of fresh and dried fruits and espresso beans before coming back together in a long and powerful finish. Already fantastic." James Suckling
"The magnificent modern interpretation of a Cru that has been vinified as such since 1975. A Brunello of amazing freshness and elegance, with notes of wild blueberries, hints of clementina and marjoram. Great freshness and juiciness on the palate, with iodine-rich tannins. Fruity-floral finish." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ginestra “Ciabot Mentin” DOCG 2018
The great Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra from the historic Clerico vineyard. Bright garnet red. Open-hearted bouquet of ripe fruit and spices, the elegant tannins are accompanied by a pleasant freshness in the complex taste, deep and long on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Clear, firm and deep, multi-layered, slightly juniper red and black berry scent with dried herb notes, some tobacco, dried rose petals, a little tobacco and mineral nuances. Ripe, dense, juicy fruit, some cocoa and coffee spicy wood, present, very fine tannin and some acid bite, smoky and dried meaty hints, a little leather, persistent, good depth, again distinct minerality, ethereal, mainly peppery and juniper spice, lots of power but also polish, very good to long, firm, juicy and spicy finish, again with polish." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby garnet, medium density. Appealing, intense nose with rich notes of raspberry, prune and peach, rhubarb in the background. Lots of fine-mesh tannin on the attack, coated in sweet melting, builds well, juicy fruit." Falstaff
"Great purity on the nose, with beautifully integrated oak and spicy-sweet cherry fruit. Compact, fruity palate with lots of juice and grainy tannins built like a house. Fantastic length, focus and energy." Jancis Robinson
"Super concentrated and super focused red berry and oak vanilla character on the nose. Medium-bodied with very fine, firm tannin. The deep, pristine core of fruit pushes through. Give it time to balance itself out." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Ginestra Ciabot Mentin from Domenico Clerico, one of Piedmont's iconic producers, offers stunning complexity with a fine mesh of aromas ranging from black and purple fruits to rusty nails, candied orange peel and liquorice. It culminates in a beautiful aromatic lift that comes in the form of dried mint and roasted anise." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino “Filo di Seta” DOCG 2017
Sandro Chia had the right nose when he bought the very high vineyard that his neighbours actually advised him against. Named after this single vineyard, the famous artist and his son Filippo vinify a wine that is somewhat denser than the normal Annata. The full bouquet has lively notes of dark red cherries, spices, plums and leather. Filo di Seta is racy and lush, yet has a clearly recognisable structure and impresses with its impressive balance. Sweet floral and spicy notes add exciting nuances on the expressive finish. A bold and immensely viral Brunello and a masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"Pleasing nose of wild berries and spices, very classic; polished texture with accentuated long-lasting acidity, elegant fruity finish, also floral aromas. Convinces with its fullness and elegance." Vinum
"Distinctly herbal nose, fresh, slightly cesty, wild herbs, meadow sage, cedar; firm, compact-polished style, polished, present tannins, juicy length." Meiningers Sommelier
"Filippo Chia explains that Romitorio’s Filo di Seta bottling is crafted from two harvesting periods. The first, in early September, is for crispness and a modest 13% alcohol. The remaining grapes are picked two to three weeks later to bring complexity and greater structure. Neither superior nor inferior to the estate bottling in 2017, it does express its distinct personality: Filo di Seta is richer and showier, with a chocolatey texture, yet its tannins are also tighter. Aromas of rosemary and cocoa lead to spicy wild dark berries and iron on the palate. Despite plenty of stuffing, this remains agile." Decanter
"The remarkably fresh 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta opens slowly, blossoming in the glass to offer a captivating mix of dusty rose, spicy citrus, black cherry and smoky crushed stone. This is cool-toned yet powerful in feel, fleshing out across the palate with an elegant display of mineral-tinged tart berries under an air of sweet florals, as fine tannins settle in. It turns quite savory and slightly salty through the finale, tapering off with unprecedented length, along with a staining of primary concentration offset by residual acids that keep the mouth watering. Mixing the most delicate and vivid fruit with the body of a well-muscled dancer, this leaves me very impressed. The 2017 Filo di Seta is one of the top wines of this difficult vintage." Vinous
"This is a very interesting wine that tests a cool growing site in a hot vintage. The Castello Romitorio 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta comes from a high-altitude vineyard with dark soils and pockets of slate and shale. It is isolated in the mountains and surrounded by thick forests and Mediterranean shrub oak. That combination of unique elements has shaped a very articulate and attuned expression that boasts vibrant fruit, smoke, spice and wet stone. The finish is sharp and especially focused with age-worthy tannins and bright acidity." Wine Advocate
"From the north-west area of Montalcino an extra-ordinary Brunello also in this vintage, the result of great selection in the vineyard. Black currant, touches di gardenia, then a nice balsamic shade of eucalyptus. The mouthfeel has salty, crispy tannins and a fruity, balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2017
Dark cherries, menthol, flowers and tar are just some of the classic notes in the complex bouquet of the Bricco Pernice from the Ravera single vineyard. On the palate, the austere structure and great power are joined by a fine inner sweetness. In the long finish, memories of damp earth, dried herbs and wild flowers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. A little rich on the nose but not lacking in precision and showing great depth. Still not completely open. Brooding but with aeration becomes more floral and perfumed. Mouth-filling juicy fruit with polished, fine, almost velvety tannins. Closes up on the finish but showing impeccable balance. Outstanding for the vintage." Jancis Robinson
"Deep-set nose of bright, spicy cherry with layers of minerals, from chalk to river stones. Medium-to full-bodied with really nicely placed, still firm tannins and excellent spicy and mineral drive on the finish. There’s a cool feel to the palate. This is in the full bloom of youth and, though attractive now, will age nicely. Try from 2024." James Suckling
"This is a medium-bodied Nebbiolo from a hot vintage with a ruby-tinged appearance. The 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice shows generous inner fiber and richness with dried cherry, blackberry, plum and dark spice. Fruit for this wine comes from a beautiful amphitheater of vines with the perched town of Novello high up on the skyline. I love the especially smooth and soft quality to what is a powerful and lasting wine. Only 3,500 bottles were made." Wine Advocate
"A pretty red, boasting rose, strawberry and raspberry flavors accented by mown hay, leather, iron and tobacco. In terms of texture and structure, this is like an iron fist in a velvet glove. Fine length." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Bricco Pernice is superb. Silky and soft, with gorgeous textural finesse, the 2017 is all class right out of the gate. Hints of rose petal, orange zest, cinnamon and star anise meld into sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit. The 2017 can be enjoyed now or cellared. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous wine in every way." Vinous
"Defying the heat of the scorching vintage, this fragrant red has aromas of iris, violet, wild berry, leather and eucalyptus. On the full-bodied, delicious palate, fresh acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins support dried cherry, nutmeg and licorice before a tobacco finish." Wine Enthusiast

Barbaresco “Currá" DOCG 2013
Garnet red with delicate violet reflections. Currá 2013 is initially archaic and unapproachable. With time and oxygen it reveals dark berries and a fine chocolate note. In his style he is rather angular, but does not deny his greatness and harmony at any point. Tobacco, plums, smoke and tobacco: with every glass this exceptional wine reveals new facets and a firework of impressions. So Nebbiolo goes from 65 years old vines at the highest level! SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh, cherry-, mineral- and tar-flavored red whose great structure provides support. Elements of underbrush and earth come into play on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2013 Barbaresco Currá offers a savory side that is seamlessly juxtaposed against a plump fruity side. Those two halves paint a pretty picture of this unusual and slightly cooler vintage. The wine shows power and a great sense of forward thrust or momentum that will serve it well as it ages in your cellar. The 1.5-hectare vineyard is planted to 65-year-old vines in the Neive subzone." Wine Advocate
"A rich, explosive wine, the 2013 Barbaresco Currà possesses remarkable depth, intensity and power. Dark cherry, smoke, leather, spice and savory herb nuances saturate the palate in an explosive, full-throttle Barbaresco. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2013 is going to need at least several years in bottle to fully come around. A final blast of exotic, perfumed aromatics makes it very hard to move onto the next wine." Antonio Galloni

“Turriga” Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2020
In 1991, Turriga was one of the first bottled wines ever to be exported from the island. Turriga has a 100% Sardinian soul - the famous blend of four red autochthonous grape varieties was once created by the famous OenologistGiacomo Tachis and is continued today by his "heir" Mariano Murru, technical director and Oenologist at Argiolas. The DNA of this exceptional wine sounds as simple as it is perfect: its refined blend of grape varieties gives it its unique structure, roundness, fullness, fruit and a perfectly balanced portion of tannins.
Mariano goes into raptures and describes his top wine as follows: "It has a deep ruby red colour and an enveloping taste of almost spherical softness, with tannins of great finesse that support and accompany the drink. The lively fruit is supported by a balanced acidity and spiciness that refreshes the palate and prolongs an indescribable finish of rare elegance."
We have loved the elegant bouquet of plums, the opulent dark fruit, the finely balanced vanilla note and the subtle hint of tobacco for decades. Excellently structured and long-lasting on the finish. A masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"A rich and layered red wine with lots of berry, cedar, chocolate and bark character. It is medium to full-bodied with a tight centre and a flavourful finish. It starts intense and then finishes very fine and concentrated. Better in three or four years, but already great now." James Suckling

Rosso di Montalcino “Greppo” DOC 2020
The Rosso di Montalcino comes from slightly younger Brunello vines and is matured for 12 months in large oak barrels. It undoubtedly bears the signature of the top winery Biondi Santi: delicately sweet, open flavours of red berries, flowers and cloves. Like all of the winery's other wines, the Rosso is classic and firm in style, with a bombastic structure and a brilliant, long finish. True to the house, it also has a long ageing and maturation potential and can compete with some of the Brunello wines of the appellation today and in the future. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale ruby red colour. Slightly restrained nose. Structured, sweet fruit on the palate, with real drive and grip on the finish. Admirably long. Really very exciting! Pure, fully ripe Sangiovese. Powerful and a great balance between fruit and the natural tannin and acidity of the grape. Simply marvellous! Already a great drink, but with enough ripe tannin to go on and on." Jancis Robinson
"Generous aromas of ripe strawberries and cherries that develop into flowers and stones with some crushed cement. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that fill the mouth, as well as lively acidity and depth of fruit. Spicy and almost salty on the finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is simply stunning. It emerges from the glass with vibrant raspberry and cherry notes complemented by sweet roses, cloves and cedar. This model of purity is silky and refined, with a dusty feel to its ripe red berry fruit. Orange notes provide contrast on the finish. It ends structured and long, still remarkably pure, with a slightly bitter hint that slowly fades. This fabulous Rosso from Biondi-Santi shows the work that has been done in recent years." Vinous
"The Biondi-Santi 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is a very expressive and generous wine with perfumed aromas of softly fragrant heritage rose, violet, redcurrant and rosemary essence. Those herbal notes come out nicely in this vintage, and there is elegantly chalky tannin to close. This vintage saw rain in June and higher temperatures later in the summer. This wine is drinking beautifully now and offers a pleasantly immediate drinking style." Wine Advocate
"The nose is floral and sweet, but refreshing thanks to the clean, balancing flavours of mint and dirt. On the palate, this freshness goes a step further, to a light, bouncy, almost astringent level. The precocious tannins are young but dense and supportive, while the jubilant acidity sings." Wine Enthusiast

“Castello di Bolgheri” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2021
Deep, dark ruby red in colour, with a rich fruit concentrate of cherry, elderberries, wild berries and a pinch of pepper on the nose. Wonderful harmony of supple tannins and fine acidity on the palate, with subtle notes of maraschino cherry and spices. Fine toasted flavours on the long, very elegant finish. One of the most complex and underrated top wines in the region to date. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spicy cherry and berry flavours, also tobacco notes; rich in structure, the powdery tannins and the brittle acidity in balance, persistent and with its spicy fruit and balsamic nuances very complex final." Vinum
"Bright, radiant ruby violet colour. Fragrant and elegant nose, clearly plums, wild berries, undergrowth, later cold smoke. Opens full-bodied and soft on the palate, opens wide, round acidity, powerful and juicy, retronasal cool fruit with eucalyptus, elegant, long final." Falstaff
"The purity of the blackcurrant and lavender is highly appreciated. On the palate, it is concentrated and very polished, with substance and a touch of excellence. Medium-bodied with integrated tannins and a light aftertaste of tomato leaves and blackcurrants." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Dark ruby colour with a light rim. Dark red fruit, cedar wood and crushed rock with a fine grilled flavour on the nose. A well-balanced wine to which the cooler sites and the light sea breeze give both profile and contour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Balsamic nose that is still a little closed. Supple, sweet and concentrated fruit, through which the tangy acidity shines through on the finish. Quite unruly tannins - it clearly needs more bottle ageing, for which it has plenty of substance." Jancis Robinson
"Le Potazzine's breezy, high-altitude location and the stony, well-drained soil helped to compensate for the rainfall and the threat of mildew in 2018. Nevertheless, the winery produced around 15 % less Brunello due to strict selection. It is a little shy and needs some persuasion to release forest herbs, leather and wild strawberries. Medium-bodied and delicate but not fragile, it moves gracefully and delivers a core of sweet fruit while supple, chalky tannins linger around the edges. It's almost ripe now, though it has enough depth to drink satisfactorily over the medium term." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino has blossomed over the last year, blending earthy notes of worn leather and dusty rose that give way to woodland berries, cinnamon and tobacco. This is cool-toned and remarkably fresh with crisp wild berry fruits complicated by orange hints as inner violet florals cascade. It finishes long and lightly structured, leaving the mouth watering for more as a slightly salty tinge lingers. The 2018 from Le Potazzine is easily one of the top wines of this challenging vintage. That said, it is also more immediate." Vinous
"Le Potazzine delivers solid results thanks to the impressive location of its vines, which stretch across the crown of a plateau. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows bright fruit with cherry and redcurrant, and this makes all the difference. Careful ageing in oak has intensified the flavours. I can also feel the effects of the careful ageing in the cellar in the mouthfeel, especially in the structure and tannins." Wine Advocate
"A sweet and savoury bouquet with lighter notes of cherry, vanilla and cedar that rivals balsamic vinegar, olives and stones. The palate receives a sour wave of dried cranberry, pomegranate and citrus before an astringent finish. This wine will make the whole table sit up straight and pay attention." Wine Enthusiast
"South-west area, from an altitude that was once considered forbidden for high-quality Brunello. Gigliola and her girls take up the challenge of sustainability both in the vineyard and in the cellar. A wine of masterful balance, with cornelian cherry on the nose, then pepper leaf, a hint of gardenia and eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is juicy and fruity, with excellent persistence." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 2 articles per customer“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva DOCG 2019 (BIO)
This strictly limited Riserva is only bottled in the best years. The bouquet is perfect and profound with aromas of dried fruit, blackberries, white smoke and crushed rock. Wonderfully structured on the palate with exact proportions and an almost weightless elegance that makes it one of the best red wines in southern Italy. Still youthfully intense, it still has plenty of time ahead of it. SUPERIORE.DE
"Some dried sweet spices, ripe red fruit, dried fruit such as figs and a savory touch. I enjoy the brightness and freshness on the palate, with a medium to full body and firm tannins, which are pretty resolved in the lengthy, traditional finish." James Suckling
"The kaleidoscopic Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo 2019 is stunningly beautiful, seducing with a cascade of violets and lavender that is followed by pine shavings, incense and a core of crushed black cherries. It is very structured, with an abundance of mineral red and black fruits flowing over a stream of pure velvet. The 2019 folds in on itself on the final, but retains an exceptional freshness and ends with a pleasantly bitter hint of cocoa, while notes of tobacco fade away. This edition combines the majesty of the Titolo vineyard and its old vines with the magic of the 2019 vintage. fantastic." Vinous
