Barolo Parafada DOCG 2020
"The Barolo DOCG Parafada is perfect for long ageing and surprising development. Elegant, refined, austere. Vinified in vats, matured in large barrels. Made with Nebbiolo grapes from our vineyard in the MGA Parafada in Serralunga d'Alba." Franco Massolino
Barolo Parafada is fabulous. The natural richness of this site blends with transparency and class to produce a weightless yet powerful, highly nuanced Barolo that hits all the right notes. On the nose, dark cherry, lavender, spices, mint, rose petals and liquorice. And on the palate, it is the interplay of richness and lightness that elevates the Parafada to the realm of the truly sublime. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barolo Parafada 2020 is a delicate, concentrated wine. Bright red fruits, mint, white pepper and crushed herbs are all nicely delineated. This medium-bodied Barolo has class and is very approachable now, but it needs time to show its best side." Vinous
"This Barolo enchants with a captivating blend of herbal notes that include dried thyme, rosemary and a hint of mint. Tart red fruits, such as sour cherry and redcurrant, intertwine with tantalising spices such as cinnamon and clove. The palate is generous and round, offering ample flavours of ripe red berries, fresh herbs and a subtle earthiness reminiscent of damp forest floor. Pleasant, well-integrated tannins provide structure, while the harmonious balance between herbal elements, fruit and earth creates a truly beautiful expression of Nebbiolo." Wine Enthusiast
"A blend of bright cherry and raspberry fruit, eucalyptus, menthol, iron and tobacco heralds this structured yet juicy red wine. Expressive, with the potential to mature. Shows fine balance, complexity and length." Wine Spectator
"Notes of dried raspberries, cherries, dried orange peel and ground spices. Some tar. Medium-bodied, structured and firm, with polished tannins. I like the energy and length of this wine. Round and refined with a bright finish. Very well made." James Suckling
"The 2020 Barolo Parafada is an exceptional wine that doles out elegant tones of iron, rusty metal, blood orange and lavender. The high alcohol content presents a small distraction, but otherwise this wine is very tight, supple and almost glossy in texture." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 2 articles per customer Barolo Parussi DOCG 2020
"For the Barolo DOCG Parussi, we left the confines of Serralunga and opted for a vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. Thanks to the characteristics of Nebbiolo, which is perfectly capable of capturing the differences in microclimate and soil composition and translating them into sensations, the result amazed us. Structured, important, austere. Made with Nebbiolo grapes from our vineyard in the MGA Parussi in Castiglione Falletto." Franco Massolino
Parussi is the most open-hearted and fruity Barolo in Massolino's collection. It has a striking immediacy and sweetness in the mid-palate. Juicy red and violet berries, spices and mint combine in the glass. On the palate, Parussi is silky, floral and medium-bodied, displaying all the sensuality typical of Castiglione Falletto's Barolos. Best of all, Parussi can be drunk much earlier than the wines from Serralunga. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby-garnet colour. Very appealing and open nose with notes of pomegranate, cherries and raspberries. Grippy tannins enveloped by fine melting, builds up very well over the course, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Still quite closed and more spicy than fruity. The palate is much more open with lush, supple, fresh fruit and gripping tannins on the finish. Pretty great." Jancis Robinson
"A lively bouquet of tart red cherries, juicy raspberries and delicate purple petals greets your senses when you discover this Barolo. On the palate, a solid fruit core is complemented by well-structured tannins that promise a fascinating development. This harmonious interplay of lively acidity and depth demonstrates the fascination of Nebbiolo." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Parussi 2020 is an elegant, nuanced wine. It shows lovely textural depth and resonance, but in the mid-weight style of the year. Dark red cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice all build beautifully and fill out the layers effortlessly. The 2020 is weightless and elegant, with the understated textural depth that is so typical of this vintage." Vinous
"Forthcoming aromas of pine and juniper give way to flavors of cherry, raspberry, peony and earth in this harmonious red. Light, powdery tannins line the persistent, raspberry-infused aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Vibrant red fruit with subtle floral and citrus notes and a hint of crushed stones. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured and focused with a lingering, expanding aftertaste. Impressive density. Taste after two to three years." James Suckling
"The Barolo Parussi 2020 is a real eye-catcher. The wine is radiant and bright with a particularly direct and concentrated quality. I would describe it as razor-sharp. There is also a general feeling of finesse and tightness. I can't get enough of it and am curious to see how it will develop in 10 or 20 years." Wine Advocate

The classic Habemus with its white label is probably the most famous wine of the exceptional Roman winemaker Emanuele Pangrazi. This may not only be due to its extreme quality, but also to the relatively large production of 9,000 bottles per vintage for the boutique winery, which should ensure a certain distribution at least in international connoisseur circles. Habemus is one of the 100 best wines in Italy every year and, with its style inspired by the great wines of the Rhone, at least casts a small but very bright light on the wine region of Lazio, which is otherwise not particularly conspicuous in terms of exceptional wines.
Intense, almost impenetrable ruby red. In the expansive bouquet aromas of black cherries, blackberries, spices, smoke, tobacco, lavender and crushed stones. The palate is full-bodied and complex with remarkable concentration and depth. Habemus is beautifully balanced with a velvety texture and a wonderful sense of freshness that lasts until the long, expansive finish full of dark fruits and lavender notes. SUPERIORE.DE

“Sapaio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
Massimo Piccin is living the dream of giving new expression to Bordeaux growths from Bolgheri and producing wines that combine power, elegance and longevity. And so the Sapaio offers its full, vital and tannin-rich style magnificently and allows plenty of time for the finish. Once again, some of the grapes come from Bibbona, i.e. outside the Bolgheri DOC, so that this great wine can only bear the addition Toscana IGT.
Wonderful, animating bouquet of blackcurrants, blueberries, lavender and a delicate hint of chocolate. Firm on the palate, full-bodied, multi-layered with an attractive sweetness of extract, finely woven but very present tannins and a resting, seamless substance that leaves nothing to be desired right through to the long and flavoursome finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a delicately brightening rim. Finely characterised nose with notes of blackberries and cassis, some cedar wood, fine spice. Shows a lot of present fruit on the palate, cassis and blackberry, opens up with dense tannins, firm pressure." Falstaff
"Reductive and restrained on the nose, with green pepper, violets and cassis infused with spice, it leads to a full, dense, extracted and fierce palate with almost dusty tannins. The wine is savoury, but above all very fresh, pithy and dynamic. The finish is still a little austere and needs more bottle ageing, but it deserves attention in the long term." Decanter
"Impressive depth with lots of dark cherries, black pepper, cocoa powder, roasted red pepper and grilled herbs on the nose. Full-bodied and intense on the palate with lots of silty tannins that meld with the dark fruits and fine spices. Long-lasting and very fine-grained. This wine should drink well over the next ten years." James Suckling
"The Podere Sapaio 2020 Sapaio needs a few moments in the glass before the wine starts to sing. You get a full bouquet that includes ripe fruit, balanced spices, sweet cinnamon, cloves and an earthy note of minerals or gravel. The fruit generously coats the palate with depth, firm structure, integrated tannins and further layers of dark fruit that unfold over time." Wine Advocate
"Rich, supple and expressive, offering black cherry, blackberry, violet, mineral and spice aromas and flavors. This red builds on the palate to the saturated finish, with lively acidity and civilized tannins. Shows fine balance and length, though this is still a bit compact in the end." Wine Spectator

Barolo “Via Nuova” DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Every year, Barolo Via Nuova proves anew why the blending of several vineyards was the favoured method of Barolo producers until the 1960s, when the fascination with single-vineyard wines began. Its grapes come from the Liste, Terlo, Baudana, Gabutti, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi cru sites.
And certainly the old days were not so bad: silky and fragrant and with exceptional balance, Via Nuova is a real eye-catcher. On the palate, it has plenty of volume and power with beautiful mineral tones that stand proudly above the dark fruit, cassis and wild roses. A mineral, salty note on the finish, which together with the wonderful acidity gives it freshness and great potential. Wonderful balance and convincing in every respect! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with a fine garnet rim. Seductive nose with lots of sweet fruit of raspberries and plums, some liquorice in the background. Firm, gripping tannins characterise the palate, juicy and with good tension." Falstaff
"A rich, ripe style, boasting cherry, raspberry, iron, tobacco, herb and spice flavors. This is dense, with aggressive tannins tipping the balance slightly in their favor, yet remains long and full of fruit to the end, with fine length." Wine Spectator
"Barolo Via Nuova 2020 opens with a little more dark fruit and ripe berries in this vintage. The wine is a small package of flavours from all sides. There is orange peel, bright cherries and fragrant spring flowers. There are hints of herbs, tar, violets and chalky minerals. The tannins are finely honed and soft." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Via Nuova 2020 is outstanding. It clearly benefits from a blend of several vineyard sites. Dark cherry, gravel, spice, menthol, liquorice and dried herbs are all present in this powerful, structured Barolo. As always, the blend includes Paiagallo, Liste, Terlo, Gabutti, Baudana, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi - an approach that works very well. This is an outstanding achievement by Chiara Boschis." Vinous
"Bright and complex nose with excellent depth and complexity. Expect fresh strawberries, white pepper, stones, fine herbs, chalk and even a hint of mezcal. The palate is broad and savoury with fine, chalky tannins that drive it to a long and luscious finish." James Suckling
"On the nose, notes of sour cherry and liquorice root, complemented by hints of eucalyptus and star anise. The sip returns to black fruits and balsamic notes, with a finish of spicy flavours." Luca Gardini

"A", as it is called in the winery, represents the qualitative peak of Schiopetto. This wine is made from Chardonnay grapes and a small part of Friulano, which come from a historic single vineyard site of the winery in the Colli Orientali and achieve a unique expression. A perfect synthesis between the expressiveness of Chardonnay and the aromatic complexity of Friulano, this white wine shows the quintessence and full personality of the Friulian territory and is dedicated to Mario Schiopetto. SUPERIORE.DE

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019
Here it is, the impressive first Gran Selezione from Riecine, showing more grace than muscle and delivering a Riecine-typical and very precise Burgundian interpretation of the Sangiovese grape.
The grapes come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25 hectare Chianti Classico vineyard planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and situated on old terraces facing south. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and now the winery has managed to purchase this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico area. So it is only logical that the 50th anniversary of the winery and the outstanding 2019 vintage should mark the debut of the new top wine. The bottles are numbered, just 3,233 0.Liters and 50 magnum bottles were bottled.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread that combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich in the mouth, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Develops wonderfully - and should be one of the best Gran Selezione of the vintage "right off the bat". Congratulations on the anniversary! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a gently brightening rim. Expressive nose, clear, initially of fine wild strawberries and some raspberries, red currants and delicate vegetal aromas in the aftertaste. Shows extremely elegant and polished on the palate, with tightly meshed, pithy tannin, very juicy on the back end, with minimally persistent tannin." Falstaff
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is a plump, juicy wine. Black cherry, leather, incense, tobacco and dried herbs meld together nicely in this attractive, curvy Gran Selezione. Deceptive in its mid-weight feel, the 2019 shows terrific depth and fine overall balance." Vinous
"Here is a new and exciting submission from Riecine in Gaiole in Chianti. The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is being released as a special way of commemorating the estate's 50th anniversary. The number 50 appears on the front label. This top-end wine comes off with dark fruit, austere spice and dry wood. Those are the aromas; however, the wine is surprisingly soft and silky in texture. It's a nice dual effect. 3,233 bottles and 50 magnums were released." Wine Advocate
"Blackberry, orange-peel and Spanish-cedar aromas. Exotic fruit, too. Full-bodied with seamless tannins and a very, very long finish. A benchmark Gran Selezione. Structured, yet fine at the same time." James Suckling
"Riecine's first ever Gran Selezione is a true beauty. It comes from the Gittori vineyard, a south-facing plot which sits above 500 metres, planted in 1971 - after renting it for 20 years, the estate was finally able to purchase it in 2019. The nose shows pure, precise fragrances of rose, wildflower, raspberry and spice. Fruit is at the fore, with integrated oak in the background – simply there to support. Youthfully plump and joyful at the moment, the succulent acidity and silky tannins bring vibrancy and alluring texture respectively. It has the depth and complexity worthy of Gran Selezione and is a glorious demonstration that the category isn't solely reserved for muscle-bound powerhouses." Decanter

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO)
This strictly limited Riserva is only bottled in the best years. The bouquet is perfect and profound with aromas of dried fruit, blackberries, white smoke and crushed rock. Wonderfully structured on the palate with exact proportions and an almost weightless elegance that makes it one of the best red wines in southern Italy. Still youthfully intense, it still has plenty of time ahead of it. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Crushed raspberries and sour cherries on the nose with chalky, mineral notes and a hint of cooked rhubarb. Supple raspberry fruit with finely honed, long tannins still making their mark and interspersed with oak. Elegant weight on the palate. Very long with a long oak note. Modern approach." Jancis Robinson
"A rich, focused red with a spicy, sanguine edge to the fruit flavours of crushed cherries, black plums and raspberries. Offers a lively profile that coats the firm, chewy tannins well, while accents of stone, dried thyme and sage, orange peel and pink peppercorns linger on the finish." Wine Spectator
"On the nose, deep fruit notes of dried figs, plums and mulberries both accentuate and push back on dominant aromas of grilled meat and pepper. The fruit brightens on the palate, but an enduring earthy spiciness maintains depth, while strong yet polished tannins glide into an unexpectedly fresh, saline finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Honestly, it's hard to put this glass down. The Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo 2018 seduces with a bouquet that brings the taster back down to earth, blending musky tones of animals, incense and grilled herbs with mint and spiced oranges. It coats the palate with a texture of pure silk and seems to float with its medium weight. A saturation of citrusy black fruits slowly builds, accented by inner sage and lavender tones. The 2018 feels nervous on the finish, structured and balanced yet full of tension, like a bomb waiting to explode. Sweet spice and liquorice notes slowly fade away. Elena Fucci has taken the Superiore Riserva Titolo to a whole new level. Forty-eight hours later, it still sings. The 2018 is still a baby in terms of development, but it's almost impossible to resist it now." Vinous

“Il Blu” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
Since its debut in 1988, Il Blu has been the result of constant striving for perfection. With ultra-fine tannins and a smooth and full finish, this full-bodied wine captivates with its complexity and elegance. Il Blu is made from only the best hand-picked and selected grapes from the two vineyards in the Chianti region. Although Sangiovese plays a leading role in the blend, its influence and signature contribute significantly to the overall identity of this special wine.
Rich, unfathomable ruby red. Explosive aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose. The texture is wonderfully balanced, on the palate Il Blu presents itself fresh, persistently powerful and with wonderfully articulated tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a subtly lightening rim. Spicy, noble nose of ripe sour cherries, blackcurrants and elegant use of wood. Juicy on the palate, with clear, well-developed fruit, with still young tannin, still needs some time, salty and punchy on the final." Falstaff
"This is an organic blend that enjoys near iconic status here in Tuscany. Thanks to its long track record, you can count on this Tuscan blended red to deliver top quality. The Brancaia 2020 Il Blu is a full-bodied red with sweet fruit flavors and a rich, velvety texture." Wine Advocate
"Shows a resinous note from the oak that envelops ripe black cherry, plum, leather, mineral and tobacco flavors. This red just keeps building in intensity and fruit on the palate, ending with a succulent, fruit- and spice-infused aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Il Blu is superb. Dark and mysterious at first, the Blu offers up an exotic mélange of blue fruits, mocha, new leather, licorice and lavender. Bright acids play off some of the more over leanings beautifully. Il Blu has long been one of the most distinctive wines in Chianti Classico. The 2020 is another fine edition of Il Blu." Vinous
"Attractive blueberries, brambles and cherries with spiced orange peel and lilac blossom, as well as some smoky dark spices and cocoa. Full, concentrated and very tense, with tightly packed but very polished and fine tannins. Shows a succulence and vibrancy to the fruit with a mineral, slightly chalky finish." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
Piancornello's Riserva delivers a classic Brunello bouquet, combining earthy elements of leather and potting soil with dark plum fruit. These equally sweet and savoury sides are skilfully interwoven, and the rich, concentrated fruit helps to smooth out the full-bodied flavours. An action that is crowned with success, because as a result the Riserva presents itself with an impressive, enhanced overall intensity. The great interplay aptly reflects the beauty of Brunello. It is a magnificent wine with great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plum, dried-berry, cherry and rose-stem aromas follow through to a medium body with firm, silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows length and structure, yet a creamy mouth-feel. Lovely craftsmanship to this. Drink in 2024 and onwards." James Suckling
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva pulls you close with a bouquet of fresh tobacco and brown spice that evolves further to let dried cherries, roses and cedar shavings come to the fore. This is dark and youthfully inward, with dense waves of red and black fruits carried across velvety textures. Salty minerals combine with fine-grained tannins, creating tension toward the close, as brisk acids work to maintain balance, giving way to a long and structured yet fresh finale. The 2016 Riserva is a dark beauty of a wine that will require some time to reveal all of its charms." Vinous
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is faithful to Sangiovese with perfumed aromas of crushed flower, ferrous earth, redcurrant and grilled rosemary. This pretty wine is nicely balanced and elegant with a mid-weight approach and a terrific sense of aromatic purity and delivery. That underlying power does continue to the palate, where the wine is tightly stitched together and quite determined in length. The tannins do a good job of keeping the wine tight and focused. This is another impressive effort from Piancornello." Wine Advocate

“Vigna Rachtl” Sauvignon Bianco Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
Sauvignon Bianco Rachtl comes from a small micro-location of just 0.4 hectares. It gets its fine flint and graphite nose from the porphyry soils near Unteraicha in the municipality of Völs. Very subtle on the palate with fine saline acidity, fresh fruit and a long-lasting finish. If you can call one of the 2,000 bottles of this vintage your own, you can count yourself lucky! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, pale straw yellow with light green notes. Opens with notes of sage and flint, green asparagus and some smoke. Salty on the palate, shows very good tension, finely elaborated fruit, lingers beautifully." Falstaff
"The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Riserva Rachtl shows aromas of candied lemon peel, preserved pineapple and a hint of ripe apricot. The wine has a medium-bodied texture with a certain heaviness of the warm vintage, but also a much-needed acidity. Only 2,000 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “Vecchie Vigne” DOCG 2016
Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne is every year a prime example of the high class of the appellation around the small village of Montalcino. But what can one say about this wine when it is young? It has the potential to be one of the best Brunellos of this outstanding vintage, but it is too early to sum up its true class. Only this much: Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne has everything that reveals the power, size and finesse of this vintage. Aromas of cherry, forest floor, leather, spices, tobacco and plenty of other primary notes of deep black fruit. Explosive, full-bodied and still very closed on the palate, the tannins firm and even stubborn at first - but you can feel the existing depth and balance with every sip, which will make it one of the most convincing and at the same time charming drops of the appellation with further bottle ageing. Impressive, too, is the power and structure that builds up in waves and that it will reveal with each further year of patience and maturity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Siro Pacenti's wines always offer a full concert. This one seems a bit more restrained at first, but opens up clearly with air. Complex aroma with ripe red and blue plums, blueberries, hibiscus, blue-purple flowers (lavender, iris), dark chocolate, behind it many balsamic nuances. Enormously powerful and exciting, very intense and full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness." Weinwisser
"Giancarlo Pacenti's selection from old vines is also convincing in 2016: multi-layered bouquet of wild berries, black pepper and violets; polished in the mouth, with plenty of richness and crisp acidity, the tannins finely meshed and youthful, ending on notes of red berries, flowers and tobacco. Convincing, but should still mature." Vinum
"Sparkling, dark ruby red. Lots of dark berry fruit, mulberries, fresh dark plums, some cardamom. On the palate a lot of compact, grippy tannin, opens up in many layers, gripping and sturdy, grippy tannin forms the backbone of the wine, then drying wood in the final." Falstaff
"This wine opens to a nicely saturated appearance with dark berry, spice and tobacco. The wine is structured and firm, owning its tannins to both the fruit and the barrique. I do find the tannins to be astringent at this young stage, so I would hold off from opening this release for a long while. Like many of the other producers in Montalcino, Giancarlo Pacenti has captured the linearity and focus of the vintage, but his house style ultimately leaves a bigger mark on the fruit." Wine Advocate
"Broad and dense, this red reveals power behind the plum, cherry, earth, leather and underbrush flavors. Will need time to shed its beefy tannins, but the fruit keeps pace on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Menthol, new leather, French oak and spiced blueberry aromas come to the forefront. Full bodied and concentrated, the firmly structured palate delivers dried cherry, grilled Porcini, vanilla and licorice set against assertive, close-grained tannins before closing on a coconut note. Give it time to flesh out in the bottle." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne from Siro Pacenti is dark and youthfully folded in upon itself. This pulls you closer to the glass, as it slowly reveals a nuanced display of olive-tinged blackberry and plum, with hints of mocha, balsamic spice and tanned leather. It's deeply textural, with velvety waves of ripe black fruits laced with tactile minerals, propelled by vibrant acids which carry its medium-bodied weight with ease. Youthfully dense, poised and geared for the long term, the 2016 Vecchie Vigne will require a good amount of cellaring to show all of its charms. Hints of licorice and violet florals echo throughout the long and structured finale." Vinous
"Such wonderful opulence and beauty. The nose shows dried flowers and minerals with blackberries and black cherries. Purity is the word. Full-bodied with incredible depth and structure and polished, silky tannins that envelop your palate. The length is really impressive." James Suckling

“Calcarole” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2011 · late release
For the first time, the winery presents a small amount of its matured Amarone flagship "Calcarole" from the very good 2011 vintage as a so-called "late release". Rich, dark, almost decadent bouquet that evokes memories of Christmas cake with brown sugar icing served with a cup of hot cocoa. It is velvety-smooth and full-bodied, yet perfectly balanced, with ripe black fruits mingling with exotic spices, mocha and violet flowers. After almost a minute, you can still taste notes of dark chocolate and a hint of bitter coffee. While the Calcarole shamelessly flaunts its extroverted character, it does so with class. The further five years of bottle ageing have done it more than good! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, brilliant ruby red. Elegant nose of ripe cherries with a fine scent of roses. Creamy attack on the palate with flattering play, expands nicely, pithy red fruit, presents itself very harmoniously until the final, firm pressure." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with hints of amber. Red cherry, dark plums, botanical herbs and minerals on the seductive nose. Dense and very supple, with ripe red cherry, tobacco and sweet spice flavours that are precise, concentrated and layered. The finish is long and lively, offering lingering spicy nuances and a hint of faded rose petals. Just a hint of excessive alcohol lowers my score, but at 16% alcohol this olfactory sensation is virtually unavoidable. A stunning Amarone; if I'm not mistaken, this may be the best Calcarole I've ever tasted." Vinous

“Habemus Etichetta Bianca” Rosso Lazio IGT 2022

Brunello di Montalcino “Ugolaia” DOCG 2017
Ugolaia is a 1.7-hectare, south-west-facing plot with a view of the sea, where the temperature fluctuations between day and night are considerable. The estate's oldest vines grow here on red iron soil.
Lively, full red colour. Cool notes of watercress and mint complement fresh red cherries and crunchy chocolate-covered redcurrants. Rich, subtly sweet and very supple on the palate, with a juicy brightness that highlights the excellent cut and clarity of its red fruit and floral flavours. The characterful finish is refreshing with its lingering violet flavour. Very polished and velvety at the same time, a great wine every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful berry nose, spiced up with notes of pepper and leather; the attack is compact, the tannins robust, the acidity noticeable, has fullness, power and juice. The beguiling final completes the perfect impression." Vinum
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Mineral and brooding on the nose and still quite closed. Lots of soft yet spicy fruit. Still somewhat powerful at the moment, but very promising and with firm but very fine tannins. Long, complex and juicy finish. Stunning, but still far from mature." Jancis Robinson
"Rich ruby colour with a slightly brightening garnet rim. Inviting, rich nose with lots of fleshy fruit, cloves, blackberries and plums. Shows beautifully present fruit on the palate, round and balanced, grippy, dense tannins, lingers for a long time, full-bodied." Falstaff
"The Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia 2017 comes from a hot and very dry vintage and shows a dark garnet red colour with particular concentration and texture. The bouquet smells of dark fruits, baked plums and roasted spices. The Ugolaia is complex and rich, but despite the intensity of the vintage, the mouthfeel is of medium length and the wine finishes with a bright freshness." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia smells of dried roses and cherries as well as cinnamon and cloves in the glass. It feels almost velvety, with a dense wave of tart wild berries accompanied by a hint of sour citrus and balsamic spice. Nuances of plum and liquorice linger as the 2017 finishes structured, but not austere, with hints of mocha and redcurrant. The Ugolaia is another example of Lisini's success in this difficult vintage. Nevertheless, it will need a few more years to fully develop." Vinous
"Full-bodied with ripe and dried cherries, spiced plums, chocolate and blueberries, supported by polished tannins. Also well-integrated spices and dried flowers. Ripe and expansive, with a soft and supple texture that makes it very approachable and satisfying." James Suckling
"Lisini's single-vineyard selection shows its usual exotic side in 2017. It opens with an intoxicating blend of incense, juniper, pressed lilac and lavender. There's also that polished wood nuance that I associate with the wine's six months of ageing in chestnut barrels. On the palate, it is even denser than the estate's Brunello annata, showing flavours of myrtle and redcurrant underpinned by an appetising salty core. The powerful tannins require another year in the bottle, but are admirably voluptuous. Undoubtedly one of the successes of the vintage." Decanter
"The nose takes you to a forest cabin, full of savory, umami aromas of damp earth, leather and mushrooms, with sharper notes of balsamic and Luxardo cherries coming through. On the palate, the cherry element freshens and brightens, and is lifted by undertones of orange and anise, along with springy tannins and buoyant acid." Wine Enthusiast
"Lush and fruity, this red wine offers flavours of cherries, raspberries, eucalyptus, wild rosemary and minerals, supported by a lively acidity and dense, refined tannins. It offers a balanced overall picture with a long, tasty aftertaste characterised by fruity and mineral elements." Wine Spectator

“Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2020 (BIO)
The vineyards of the Löwengang estate in Margreid have been owned by the Lageder family since 1934. Here, on the rubble cone of ancient dolomite rock below steep cliffs, grape varieties such as Carménère and Cabernet find ideal conditions in the mild climate of the valley.
Löwengang emphasises the unique DNA of the grapes from which this wine is made. Parts of the vineyard are around 145 years old and the vines are among the oldest vineyards in South Tyrol. Count Melchiori, the former owner, planted the plots in Margreid with Cabernet around 1875. At least that's what he thought - because a large proportion of the vines planted at that time were actually Carménère vines. Through intensive study of the vineyard and extensive genetic analyses, the Alois Lageder winery discovered that the vineyard was in fact a mixed set of Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. In order to emphasise the special origin of the grapes, the wine will be offered as the "Löwengang Historischer gemischter Satz" from the 2018 vintage onwards.
Complex, concentrated bouquet with fruity hints of cherries and blackcurrants, spicy aromas of tobacco, floral notes of violets and mint and a very elegant woody note. Powerful, straightforward attack, concentrated and dense on the palate. Long-lasting, fresh and fruity final with powerful but by no means aggressive tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"The plot planted with Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in the heart of the Löwengang vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in South Tyrol with vines up to 140 years old. Wild nose with lots of vegetal freshness, mint and floral notes, light-footed and slender on the palate, but with a strong structure, crisp acidity, leafy and earthy notes, raspberry and blackberry jelly, candied violets, tomato spice, traces of dark chocolate, youthfully rough and impetuous tannins, stubborn and exciting." Weinwisser
"Cool, polished, firm and very fine aroma of black and red berries with tobacco and fleshy-animal nuances as well as a little juniper and tobacco. Tart, firm and again quite cool in the mouth, fine juicy fruit with nutty, juniper and herbaceous tones, noticeable acid bite and youthful, yet fine tannin, persistent and dense on the palate, yet slender, good depth, restrained, somewhat cedary wood spice, a little tomato paste, iron and blood, plenty of salt, very good, firm, tart, gripping finish. The absolute opposite of a heavyweight and yet dense, complex and deep - that is an art in itself." Wein-Plus
"Aromas of earth, leather, chocolate and licorice, very spicy and smoky. The attack is soft, with ripe, velvety, almost silky tannins that are chewier on the refreshing, medium-bodied finish." James Suckling

"Made from Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Alois Lageder 2019 Alto Adige Löwengang Uvaggio Storico shows dark fruit with a healthy pinch of white pepper and exotic spice. It is a full-bodied red wine with rich concentration and dark fruit, followed by dried mint. With an edition of 3,500 bottles, this is a selection of the best fruit from Tenuta Löwengang in Magrè." Wine Advocate
"Super restrained and fresh yet with bright cassis fruit character, showing rosemary, licorice, leaf and pepper aromas. Soft attack with dense, velvety tannins, crisp acidity, a medium to full body and a savory finish. Intended for the long haul." James Suckling

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Serra della Contessa” Rosso Riserva Etna DOC 2017
After almost twenty years of experience in the vinification of the famous Etna Rosso "Serra della Contessa", the Benanti family decided in 2015 to extend the vinification, ageing and refinement of the wine to 60 months. The result is an exclusive Riserva made from 85% Mascalese and 15% Cappuccio, produced in small quantities from vines over 100 years old (pre-phylloxera) from plot no. 587, which is rightly considered one of the best red wines in the region.
Bright ruby red with light garnet-coloured reflections. Ethereal and intense on the nose, with hints of wild berries, spices, precious wood and traces of white smoke. Full, elegant, harmonious and mineral on the palate, with terrificelegance and length. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose effortlessly blends savory aromas of soil, clean wood and salt with the semisweet astringency of hibiscus, rose petals and wild strawberries. On the palate, raspberries briefly bolster the strawberry, before a powerful earthiness takes over. Acid brings a glint of spice as it sparks off polished, smooth tannins." Decanter
"Crushed stones, rose petals and dried strawberries form a dusty and dark, seductive bouquet when the 2017 Etna Rosso Riserva Serra della Contessa rises from the glass. It is silky-soft and elegant in style. Polished red fruits and mineral tones provide traction under a hint of violet flowers on the inside. A hint of sour citrus fruit combined with a touch of residual acidity provides balance, even if the grippy tannins persist on the long and structured final. Today, the 2017 is primary, but its potential is very great." Vinous
"What fantastic aromas of dried flowers, cloves, smoke and cherries. The wine is medium-bodied with creamy and round tannins that are polished and beautiful. Intensely flavoured. Drinkable now, but it will age beautifully." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Montosoli” DOCG 2018
Montosoli 2018 presents itself in bright ruby and with a clear bouquet of raspberry, blood orange and hot spices. Strict elegance on the palate, red fruits, flowers, tobacco and grass, plus slightly salty minerality, long in the finish. A Burgundy-like style with the tannin and structure of a great Brunello. SUPERIORE.DE
"Classic raspberry and floral aromas, the wood perfectly integrated; polished and finely chiselled on the palate, the tannins and acidity in balance, finishes long." Vinum
"The single vineyard shows itself somewhat more reductive and dense with fine toasted notes, blackberry jam and candied cherries. On the creamy dense palate juicy without end, creamy texture, long and lingering. Has good richness and melting for the vintage." Weinwisser
"Brilliant medium ruby red. Concentrated, sweet, red-fruity bouquet with a hint of oak, but aged only in large oak barrels. Spicy hints. Soy sauce. The same elegant constitution on the palate as the classic Brunello, but with firmer tannins and more compact, youthful fruit. I would wait another two years before approaching this wine. Great length and elegance with a touch of seductive oak." Jancis Robinson
"Altesino's Montosoli was harvested between late September and early October and reduced by 50% due to a rigorous selection of grapes. The nose reveals appealing nuances of vanilla, cedar and truffle that combine beautifully with sweet wild berry aromas. The fine-grained tannins are still tight and firm, enclosing the admirably concentrated core. With further bottle age, it will show even more of its charm." Decanter
"A dense, tannic red, with plum, cherry, menthol, iron and spice flavors driven by lively acidity. A bit more burly than many 2018s, yet this remains vibrant, superlong and complex." Wine Spectator
"The word "Vigna" was added to the official name of this wine to emphasise the work done in the appellation, which focuses on single vineyards. The Altesino 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli comes from a unique site with some of the best vineyard sites on the hillside. This wine has a slightly dark colour and a high concentration and depth. I am excited by the bouquet that reveals dark cherries, blue flowers, crushed stone and grilled herbs. In the background there are sweet roasted aromas and spices. This is one of the most complete and storable wines of the 2018 vintage." Wine Advocate
"Complex nose of cranberries, dried pineapple, soy, bark, cardamom, mocha, iodine and wet leather. Full-bodied, with firm and very fine tannins. The wine gains intensity, unfolding a wide range of fresh and dried fruits and espresso beans before coming back together in a long and powerful finish. Already fantastic." James Suckling
"The magnificent modern interpretation of a Cru that has been vinified as such since 1975. A Brunello of amazing freshness and elegance, with notes of wild blueberries, hints of clementina and marjoram. Great freshness and juiciness on the palate, with iodine-rich tannins. Fruity-floral finish." Luca Gardini

“Bruno di Rocca” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2017
Bruno is the second top wine from Vecchie Terre di Montefili and an almost single-varietal Cabernet that impressively underlines its Tuscan origins in a rich garnet red. Restrained on the nose, it initially only gently reveals dark berries and light spicy tones. Then we discover herbal accents, blackberry, crushed rock and liquorice, which reveal more of its Tuscan identity with every sip. Voluminous and fresh on the velvety palate, the acidity and tannin still crisp when young, with good tension and mineral-salty components as it progresses, underlining its complexity and making this sophisticated drinking pleasure unforgettable. Be sure to aerate! SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby with violet glints. Opens with notes of cedar and pencil, then dark berry fruit, some dark chocolate. Emphasises fresh, crisp fruit, lots of juicy dark currant, grippy tannin that builds nicely towards the finish." Falstaff
"A firm, linear red, offering black cherry, black currant, wild rosemary and earth flavors, fused to a base of chalky tannins that leave a dusty sensation on the finish. High-strung and focused, this needs time." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Bruno di Rocca, 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Sangiovese, is more accurately described as a wine of the property, first and foremost. Cabernet is felt in strong, savory and earthy accents in the aromatics, but there is plenty of Sangiovese energy too. Blackberry jam, gravel, spice, menthol and licorice take on a very distinctive Tuscan personality. The tannins could use time to soften. This is impressive, to say the least." Vinous

Barolo Ginestra “Ciabot Mentin” DOCG 2018
The great Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra from the historic Clerico vineyard. Bright garnet red. Open-hearted bouquet of ripe fruit and spices, the elegant tannins are accompanied by a pleasant freshness in the complex taste, deep and long on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Clear, firm and deep, multi-layered, slightly juniper red and black berry scent with dried herb notes, some tobacco, dried rose petals, a little tobacco and mineral nuances. Ripe, dense, juicy fruit, some cocoa and coffee spicy wood, present, very fine tannin and some acid bite, smoky and dried meaty hints, a little leather, persistent, good depth, again distinct minerality, ethereal, mainly peppery and juniper spice, lots of power but also polish, very good to long, firm, juicy and spicy finish, again with polish." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby garnet, medium density. Appealing, intense nose with rich notes of raspberry, prune and peach, rhubarb in the background. Lots of fine-mesh tannin on the attack, coated in sweet melting, builds well, juicy fruit." Falstaff
"Great purity on the nose, with beautifully integrated oak and spicy-sweet cherry fruit. Compact, fruity palate with lots of juice and grainy tannins built like a house. Fantastic length, focus and energy." Jancis Robinson
"Super concentrated and super focused red berry and oak vanilla character on the nose. Medium-bodied with very fine, firm tannin. The deep, pristine core of fruit pushes through. Give it time to balance itself out." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Ginestra Ciabot Mentin from Domenico Clerico, one of Piedmont's iconic producers, offers stunning complexity with a fine mesh of aromas ranging from black and purple fruits to rusty nails, candied orange peel and liquorice. It culminates in a beautiful aromatic lift that comes in the form of dried mint and roasted anise." Wine Advocate

“Gabbro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Gabbro is the essence of Montepeloso's finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, the vines are over 40 years old. Impressively complex bouquet of dark fruits, smoke and grilled vegetables. Powerful and muscular on the palate, revealing its pedigree and great class. Exquisite, complex, nuanced, persistent, long ... Gabbro really does offer everything you need for an unforgettable wine experience at world-class Cabernet level. Only 2,500 bottles were produced. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby colour. Opens with fine notes of mint, some chocolate, fresh dark currant. Firm and gripping tannins on the palate, good tension, lots of pressure on the final." Falstaff
"The 2020 Gabbro is great. Montepeloso's bold Cabernet Sauvignon delivers tons of varietal character and savoury intensity with less opulence than most years. Dark fruit leather, liquorice, smoke, tobacco and incense lead into a sombre finish. The tannins are also powerful here." Vinous
"A rich and juicy red wine with plum and chocolate flavours. Also some fresh sage. It is full and complex, but remains bright and lively. A hint of herbs and dark fruit at the end, as well as earth." James Suckling
"The Gabbro 2020 (made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is ripe, rich and smooth. This wine pushes the boundaries in all directions (including a hefty 15% alcohol content). Black fruits and baked plums hide hints of dried herbs or rosemary, but the texture of the wine is what ultimately sets this hot vintage apart." Wine Advocate

“Il Puro” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO) · 0,75l in OWC
Volpaia's flagship Il Puro shows beautiful fruit, elegance and a certain austerity that are indicative of this balanced vintage. The texture of the wine is dense and voluptuous and there is dark, plummy fruit, leather and cloves that meld into a wonderful drinking flow. Oak spice, tar and campfire ash on the long and rich finish. Only 2,000 bottles exist of this profound archetype of a Sangiovese that could hardly be better. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a delicately brightening rim. Opens finely fragrant in the nose, of juicy cherries, wild berries, underlaid with dried rose hips, delicately of dried tomatoes, multilayered and inviting. On the palate it is powerful and clear, opens up juicy and salty, with a great tension; long finish with a noble finish." Falstaff
"Made from a single vineyard that’s planted with 25 native Sangiovese clones rescued from former sharecroppers’ plots, this has an appealing bouquet that mixes whiffs of herbs with earthy blackberries and roasted coffee. Ripe acidity and fine-grained tannins support a palate loaded with mellow dark cherries, while nuances of toasted oak and undergrowth complicate the ample and poised finish." Decanter
"The Volpaia 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Casanova Il Puro is an organic wine in a pretty bottle with a red wax seal. The fruit is soft and round in this vintage with plenty of cherry, dried raspberry, spice and sweet leather. It boasts a full-bodied texture but ends on a silky note." Wine Advocate
"Intense notes of cedar, cocoa, violets and tobacco, combined with tangy lemon, wild strawberry and cranberry. Sharp and precise with medium to full body and tight tannins. Intense. From organically grown grapes. Needs a couple of years to integrate." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Filo di Seta” DOCG 2017
Sandro Chia had the right nose when he bought the very high vineyard that his neighbours actually advised him against. Named after this single vineyard, the famous artist and his son Filippo vinify a wine that is somewhat denser than the normal Annata. The full bouquet has lively notes of dark red cherries, spices, plums and leather. Filo di Seta is racy and lush, yet has a clearly recognisable structure and impresses with its impressive balance. Sweet floral and spicy notes add exciting nuances on the expressive finish. A bold and immensely viral Brunello and a masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"Pleasing nose of wild berries and spices, very classic; polished texture with accentuated long-lasting acidity, elegant fruity finish, also floral aromas. Convinces with its fullness and elegance." Vinum
"Distinctly herbal nose, fresh, slightly cesty, wild herbs, meadow sage, cedar; firm, compact-polished style, polished, present tannins, juicy length." Meiningers Sommelier
"Filippo Chia explains that Romitorio’s Filo di Seta bottling is crafted from two harvesting periods. The first, in early September, is for crispness and a modest 13% alcohol. The remaining grapes are picked two to three weeks later to bring complexity and greater structure. Neither superior nor inferior to the estate bottling in 2017, it does express its distinct personality: Filo di Seta is richer and showier, with a chocolatey texture, yet its tannins are also tighter. Aromas of rosemary and cocoa lead to spicy wild dark berries and iron on the palate. Despite plenty of stuffing, this remains agile." Decanter
"The remarkably fresh 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta opens slowly, blossoming in the glass to offer a captivating mix of dusty rose, spicy citrus, black cherry and smoky crushed stone. This is cool-toned yet powerful in feel, fleshing out across the palate with an elegant display of mineral-tinged tart berries under an air of sweet florals, as fine tannins settle in. It turns quite savory and slightly salty through the finale, tapering off with unprecedented length, along with a staining of primary concentration offset by residual acids that keep the mouth watering. Mixing the most delicate and vivid fruit with the body of a well-muscled dancer, this leaves me very impressed. The 2017 Filo di Seta is one of the top wines of this difficult vintage." Vinous
"This is a very interesting wine that tests a cool growing site in a hot vintage. The Castello Romitorio 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta comes from a high-altitude vineyard with dark soils and pockets of slate and shale. It is isolated in the mountains and surrounded by thick forests and Mediterranean shrub oak. That combination of unique elements has shaped a very articulate and attuned expression that boasts vibrant fruit, smoke, spice and wet stone. The finish is sharp and especially focused with age-worthy tannins and bright acidity." Wine Advocate
"From the north-west area of Montalcino an extra-ordinary Brunello also in this vintage, the result of great selection in the vineyard. Black currant, touches di gardenia, then a nice balsamic shade of eucalyptus. The mouthfeel has salty, crispy tannins and a fruity, balsamic finish." Luca Gardini
