Brunello di Montalcino “Filo di Seta” DOCG 2019
Just like the paintings of winemaker and contemporary painter Sandro Chia, his single-vineyard Brunello is full of colours, textures and broad brushstrokes. At first glance, not everything fits together, but then you magically become aware of the symmetry between the elevated fruit flavours and the grounded spice and oak. The different elements of the wine come together harmoniously. Thanks to its gently integrated tannins, it also shows great versatility in terms of its drinking window. Filo di Seta matures for 30 months in oak and represents an ideal link between the top 2019 vintage and its terroir. Great Brunello cinema! SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, spicy, elegant bouquet with dark cherry and floral-spicy notes, tobacco, cedar. Juicy, compact palate, very classic flavour that needs to mature." Weinwisser
"Complex nose of ripe stone fruit and flowers, spice and black pepper; balanced texture, mature acidity, compact final with flavour, juice and length. Convinces with its characterful, elegant style." Vinum
"Rich, bright ruby red colour. Initially somewhat restrained on the nose, then fine plum and lots of blackberry, some molasses and tar. Great fullness on the palate, lots of rich, dark fruit, fills the mouth plumply, paired with present tannin in many layers, lingers for a long time." Falstaff
"A precise style that displays flavours of cherries, blackberries, violets, wild herbs and stony minerals. Underlined by a firm, harmonious structure that provides an excellent overall balance. Long finish with strong fruit lingering in the aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Black cherries, plums and floral notes with a subtle, underlying citrus character. Full-bodied and structured. Powerful yet fine-grained tannins. Healthy and lively. Persistent length and depth. Give it more time to mellow." James Suckling
"Historic vineyards in the north-west quadrant of Montalcino, red cherry on the nose, a hint of peony, then grapefruit. Mouthfeel with juicy tannins. Closes with a return of red cherry and citrus, very persistent." Luca Gardini
"Delicate aromas of eucalyptus, tobacco, melted dark chocolate and blackberries provide a seductive overture. The palate follows with beautiful fruit clarity, bringing pressed flowers and a mineral, energetic sensation of crystallised rock. The wine is full-bodied and graceful, with polished tannins and a generous concentration that will allow it to age for a long time." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta seduces the imagination with a burst of mentholated herbs that give way to sweet violet flowers, crushed blackberries and mint. This wine has a deep, almost creamy texture with a core of vibrant acidity that floods the palate with a wave of ripe red and blue fruits. Minerality emerges on the finish, mingling with edgy tannins, tart cranberries and oranges, leaving the mouth wanting more. This truly seductive version of Filo di Seta is sure to win many hearts. Even if it is more accessible at first, the balance of this wine guarantees a long and beautiful evolution over time." Vinous
"The Castello Romitorio 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta reaches a whole other level of intensity and brilliance with dark fruits, blackberries, an etched minerality, petrichor and wet slate giving this wine an incredibly etched and vibrant presentation. The tannins are velvety and perfectly match the generous texture of this beautiful Sangiovese. Only later do you notice the delicate tones of violet flowers and iris roots that give this wine such an elegant finish. This wine needs to stay in the cellar." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customer Brunello di Montalcino “Podernovi” DOCG 2016
Podernovi is San Polo's great single-vineyard Brunello. Ruby red colour with light garnet reflections. On the nose, floral aromas of violets, cyclamen and jasmine, notes of fresh fruit and spicy notes. In the mouth, round, full of harmony and with a good structure and acidity, as well as very soft tannins that show excellent persistence overall. A wine of almost endless length, depth and with a distinct character that lingers in the memory. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex bouquet of cherries, leather and dried flowers; harmonious texture, acidity and tannins in balance, long polished final. To wild boar with polenta." Vinum
"Powerful ruby with a fine garnet rim. Opens with notes of mint and ginger, juicy cherry, a little resinous in the background. Dense and compact on the palate, shows lots of fresh, red berry fruit, gripping tannin." Falstaff
"Aromas of forest floor, grilled herb, camphor and pipe tobacco mingle on the nose of this full-bodied red. The firm, elegantly structured palate offers juicy Marasca cherry, red currant, licorice and coffee bean. Tightly wound, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity grip the close and lend an ageworthy structure." Wine Enthusiast
"A tight, chewy red with plums and berries, together with orange-peel and dried-flower undertones. It's full with fine tannins and a long, floral finish. Very reserved now." James Suckling
"A mix of wild herb, Tuscan scrub, rose, cherry and earth flavors mark this sleek red, which tiptoes between elegance and power, with a layer of chalky tannins underlying it all. With air, the ripe cherry and plum fruit comes forward." Wine Spectator
"Delicately perfumed and finessed, the San Polo 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Podernovi is very floral and lifted in personality. This vintage is very different than the inaugural 2015 vintage. I remember the previous release for its darker and blacker quality of fruit. This cooler vintage is more lithe and lighthearted, with building aromatic intensity that unfolds with caution and care. Once you've had the wine in your glass, it reveals a succession of sour cherry, wild rose and fresh lavender bud. There are light mineral dustings as well, and the wine is ultimately quite solid and structured. This bodes well for its aging evolution. Fruit comes from a two-hectare parcel in a cool and high position some 450 meters above sea level. The soils are clayey with schistous Galestro." Wine Advocate

“L’Franc******" Rosso s.a. (2016)
Just 500 bottles come onto the market, if Luca even decides to present this single-varietal Cabernet Franc to the public. And if he does, this red is certainly one of the world's best Cabernet Francs. Deep dark, almost black ruby. In the bouquet a large aroma spectrum of black and red berries, intense and beguiling, rounded off by a fine spicy note with white pepper and some sandalwood. On the palate, very fine tannin, complex red-fruity notes and again this terroir-influenced mineral-salty note in the seemingly endless finish. Cabernet lovers will be delighted with this impressive masterpiece. SUPERIORE.DE
"Early vintages of this Cabernet Franc - such as 2006 and 2007 - were good but not exceptional, but in recent years it has come into its own. Unlike the Lessona wines, it exhibits ample but not dominant oak, with flavours of blackcurrant and mint. It's rich and spicy but also fresh and luminous, although it does tail off slightly on the finish." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino “Tenuta Nuova” DOCG 2019
If there is one thing that Giacomo Neri has mastered 100%, it is harvesting at the optimum ripening time. He knows his estate and his vines better than most and it shows. The fruit for Tenuta Nuova is harvested from a south and south-east facing slope at 250 to 300 metres above sea level. The soils are loose and mixed with gravel, which allows access to air and moisture.
The flavours of Tenuta Nuova 2019 flow with seamless transitions, and this fluid and ever-changing nature of the bouquet helps to develop intensity and persistence. In the beautifully drawn bouquet, blackberry, plum and summer cherry merge into lingering flavours of spice, leather and herbs. These are always an unmistakable feature of this winery's Brunello and develop steadily with further aeration. The palate reveals a great structure with mineral accents, a fine orange peel note, present fruit and numerous spicy components. This wine is a bit like an iron fist in a velvet glove - but with much more velvet glove than iron fist. The finish is long and, as so often with Neri, invigoratingly salty with an undertone of oyster shells. Great potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, deeply layered bouquet, wide-ranging with dark red flavours, wow, it's captivating. The palate is also complex and multi-layered with earthy, truffled nuances, very territorial, firm structure, penetrating acidity, firm tannic grip, a wine for the ages. The single vineyard Tenuta Nuova is once again one of the best in the tasting. Bravo!" Weinwisser
"Dark ruby red with light violet reflections. Complex on the nose, iron, dark cherry fruit, rich plum, some lovage. On the palate with lots of salt and juice, complex, comes in many layers, with tightly woven tannins, powerful and with full splendour, keeps coming back, big." Falstaff
"Black cherries with violets and other flowers on the nose. Full-bodied with powerful tannins and a juicy finish. Needs time to mellow." James Suckling
"The fruit profile of this red wine is ripe, with flavours of boysenberries, cherries and raspberries, with nuances of earth, iron and tobacco. More linear than square, with a steely line of acidity and tannins in support. Although balanced, it is compact for the moment and has a nice length." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is an understated beauty, perfumed and highly aromatic, with a gorgeous blend of dried black cherry, clove, hints of sage and spiced blood orange. It is cool-toned and classic in feel, with silken textures and vibrant acidity that enlivens the core of tart red berry fruits. A cascade of violet and lavender tones resonate over a coating of fine-grained tannins as it flexes its structural muscle, tapering off long and potent and demanding the taster's attention. This will pay dividends in the cellar." Vinous
"In my opinion, this is the wine that best represents the Casanova di Neri style. With 30 months of ageing, it shows enormous richness and texture, and the outstanding fruit quality appears with more primary elegance compared to the more expensive Cerretalto. This dynamic is particularly pronounced in the comparison between the 2019 and 2018 vintages. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova has a dark vein of roasted spices, black fruits, ink, blackberry compote, liquorice and star anise. Dark as night, it is exceptionally well-crafted with a robust delivery of concentrated fruit and solid tannin structure. It has excellent cellaring potential." Wine Advocate
"Notes of cherries and pepper leaves, with a hint of iodine. Opens juicy and taut on the palate, then expands in breadth and depth. Salty, juicy tannins and an officinal trace mark the finish is deep, big drink and long persistence." Luca Gardini

“Cepparello” Toscana IGT 2020
Cepparello is one of the great varietal Sangiovese classics from central Tuscany. Brilliant ruby red colour. Clean, flawless aroma of red fruits, enlivened by fine pepper accents and delicate mineral nuances. Elegance radiates from the relaxed, enveloping flavour, which provides a perfectly measured acidity framework to a well-integrated tannin to finish long and full of finesse. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense ruby colour with a slight violet hue. Opens with fine spicy notes, some cinnamon, then plums and chocolate. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, crisp and fresh, fine tannins, very long-lasting, supple and juicy on the palate." Falstaff
"Attractive red and dark berries with dried flowers, nutmeg and cocoa powder. Also dried orange peel and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, taut and consistent with fine-grained, slightly chalky tannins. Polished and even with a lingering finish. Try after 2026." James Suckling
"Expressive and lush from the start, this red wine displays aromas and flavours of cherries, strawberries, roses, orange peel, minerals and Tuscan herbs." Wine Spectator
"The Cepparello 2020 is soft and supple and elevates the Sangiovese in a way that only Paolo De Marchi can. This is his penultimate vintage before he retires and sells this historic winery. The wine opens with a medium to full concentration of dark plums and redcurrants. These segue into sweet spices, earth, crushed stone, rusty nails and candied orange peel. Give the wine more time to develop in the cellar. It has a strong alcohol content of 15%." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Cepparello is a total stunner, just as it was last year. Deeply colored, layered and explosive in the glass, the 2020 possesses striking textural richness and overall intensity. Black cherry, graphite, plum, spice and lavender flesh out effortlessly. There's tremendous pedigree and sheer stature here. Cepparello is surely one of the wines of the year." Vinous

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2017
Celestino Gaspari is regarded on the scene as the successor to Giuseppe Quintarelli, having worked there for many years as cellar master. His vintage Amarone has an intense ruby colour with a garnet sheen. The full bouquet has aromas of dark chocolate, prunes, black cherries and cloves. Complex and full-bodied on the palate, very juicy fruit, cherries, plums flanked by a gentle tannin. It offers an impressive multi-dimensionality and great richness, which is evenly distributed across all the senses - regardless of whether it is drunk young after a few hours of decanting or whether it reaches further maturity in the bottle over many years with good storage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour tending towards violet. Rich, fruity nose with notes of sour cherries, plums, raspberries and a light, well-integrated vegetal note, followed by liquorice and walnut. Striking and rich on the palate, the dense tannins ensure a lingering flavour on the palate." Falstaff
"The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is savoury and unexpectedly fresh with a bouquet of crushed black cherries and dried roses accompanied by savoury, exotic spices. The wine has a silky texture with a balanced inner sweetness that complements the depth of the mineralised red and black fruits. The residual acids provide a lovely energy on the inside, while the liquorice and citrus notes slowly fade into dark chocolate, all beautifully framed by a layer of fine tannin." Vinous
"Needs air to develop the beautiful black fruits on the nose, from redcurrants to dates and fresh elderberries. On the palate, however, the fruit unfolds immediately and takes on inky, liquorice notes and a hint of polished oak as it progresses. Full-bodied and beautifully focussed with good power and balanced structure. The finish is long, but will gain in length and complexity as it matures in the bottle. A "modern" wine, but one that betrays nothing of the Amarone tradition. Excellent. Drinkable now, but it will continue to improve." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
Top Riserva from a great vintage. Dark ruby, sweet fruity plum aroma on the nose, followed by vanilla, fig and chocolate, the taste very dense, concentrated and fruity. A wine of good structure and beautiful balance with a remarkable finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid ruby with narrow bricky rim. Savoury nose with hints of raw meat and cherry. Minerally, salty notes. Lush, layered cherry fruit with polished tannins and lots of juicy acidity on the finish mingling with the concentrated fruit. Youthful but can be approached now." Jancis Robinson
"There’s a real purity of sangiovese fruit here with cherries, orange peel and sandalwood. It’s full-bodied yet so tight and refined as well as structured. Fine tannins lead you down deep into the palate which opens up at the end. Fascinating. Drink in 2024 and onwards." James Suckling
"The Poggio Antico 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva absolutely delivers the goods, especially if you are in the market for a rich and robust expression of Sangiovese with dark fruit, cherry, leather, spice and tar. The finish is smooth and velvety, and although you recognize the structure of the wine, you by no means feel the tannins in any obvious way." Wine Advocate
"This stunning red leads off with a beam of cherry, kirsch and violet flavors, while mineral, tobacco and ash lend accents. Fresh and juicy, with fine harmony and an exceptional aftertaste that echoes the fruit and mineral elements. Its solid structure gives this fine aging potential." Wine Spectator

“Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio” Bianco Irpinia DOC 2021
One may wonder whether Luigi Moio is a professor wearing a winemaker's hat or a winemaker wearing a professor's hat. His vintage presentations are academic in tone, his tasting room is run with the rigour of a lecture theatre, and his vineyards are planted according to criteria that only a mathematician or scholar could fully understand. Quintodecimo's winemaking philosophy, on the other hand, is relatively simple. The best vineyard sites are selected for each individual wine. Soils, sites and microclimates are researched with great care. Nothing is taken for granted.
The Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio is the house's new top white cuvée and a carefully thought-out blend of Fiano, Greco and Falanghina, with the blending ratio varying depending on the vintage. It only comes onto the market after 14 months of bottle ageing. The idea was to create a "super-bianco" that represents the best of southern Italy, and the result is magnificent. About 60% of the wine is fermented in oak barrels and the blend is regularly stirred on the lees. The wine has a velvety, rich texture with silky fruit weight and lingering flavours of summer peach, quince, acacia honey and fragrant tuberose. All this beauty is framed by etched notes of saltiness or crushed shells. This is an outstanding achievement and raises the bar for Italian white wines! SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex flavours of rockmelon and peach together with floral and slightly honeyed notes, leading to a medium-bodied palate with very good concentration and focus. A slight phenolic element adds structure and makes for a long finish that ranges from fruit to tangy honey and salty minerals. There's a lot going on here." James Suckling
"This classy version delivers mouthwatering acidity, with zesty hints of pink grapefruit peel and grated ginger, plus tangy salinity. Offers focused flavors of nectarine, white cherry and Marcona almond, showing great energy and expression. This white’s vibrancy is held in fine restraint, with a deft and delicate mesh that expands on the creamy palate and lingers through the elegant finish." Wine Spectator
"Baked apples and pears combine with sweet mint, camomile and a hint of vanilla as the Taurasi Grande Cuvée 2021 unfolds in the glass. Silky and elegant, it washes over the palate in perfect harmony, while salty minerals combine with candied lime and zesty acidity. The sour melon and tart green apple are full of tension and depth. The 2021 finishes with remarkable length. It is simply stunning and full of potential. The Grande Cuvée is a blend of 40% Greco, 20% Falanghina and 40% Fiano, which matures for eight months on the lees in a combination of 60% new barriques and 40% stainless steel." Vinous
"I have described this wine in the past as a blend of the "three graces", and this analogy comes to mind again. The Quintodecimo 2021 Irpinia Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio offers the playful nature of the first grape variety, the texture of the second and the vertical lift of the third. This is the total package from Campania, and it's a wonder that more winemakers aren't experimenting with Campania white wine blends. This limited production shows tropical tones, pie crust, custard, honey and fragrant white flowers. At first glance, the wine is dense and compact, but it needs more time in the bottle to develop and open up. This is a beauty." Wine Advocate

Ceretto's single-vineyard Barbaresco Bernadot shows off its elegance and graceful personality. From the fruit of a 4.8-hectare, organically and biodynamically farmed site in Treiso, planted at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, this pretty Barbaresco develops very specific aromas of wild berries, spices, liquorice and iron rust. These flavours are also essential components of its classic Nebbiolo game on the palate, as is its light and silky texture. Barbaresco Bernadot is very straightforward, delicately flavoured and has a supple personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby-garnet colour with a sparkling core. Rich raspberries and sugared strawberries on the nose, some pomegranate and truffles. On the palate with a red berry centre and a slightly creamy texture, shows a lot of fine-meshed tannin, appears very polished, describes a long arc." Falstaff
"Brilliant, youthful ruby red colour. Serious, still somewhat restrained aroma of cherries and strawberries. Amazing lightness and yet long and concentrated, with long, finely chiselled tannins. Super-elegant and wired at the same time." Jancis Robinson
"Very floral with orange blossom, iron, cedar wood and dried spices. Medium-bodied, firm and slightly slender in the centre of the palate. Firm and racy. Slightly viscous. Needs a few years to mellow." James Suckling
"Broad and expressive, delivering cherry, plum, earth and licorice flavors. Punctuated by lively acidity, this holds together nicely through the expansive finish." Wine Spectator
"Beautiful florality and almost baked cherry candy - cherry drops - on the nose, rose, caramac bar, vanilla, white chocolate and lavender - an infusion of sweet, fruity and floral elements. The palate is statuesque, ripe and massive but so well structured - like crushed velvet with a powdery and also fleshy aspect to the tannins so that they expand and fill the mouth leaving a lingering chalky, powdery saltiness on the tongue and cheeks. Round, rich yet defined and detailed, so much going on but without one element overpowering another, creating a really impressive overall impression. The acidity is wonderful, and there are flecks of cola that add freshness and a savoury note to the wine. The power shows at the end, where the tannins tighten and hold the final flavour, so you know this is a great wine with long ageing potential." Decanter
"The Barbaresco Bernardot 2020 is a top-class Barbaresco from Treiso. Dried cherry, spices, tobacco, leather, incense and cedar adorn this unobtrusive, exquisite Barbaresco. Time in the glass reveals an irresistible inner sweetness and perfume. This is a great wine." Vinous
"The organic Barbaresco Bernadot 2020 offers a darker fruit performance with black cherry and blackcurrant. As with the other wines of this hot and sunny vintage, you can taste the ripeness of the fruit and a certain softness in the background that comes with the territory (and the growing season). The Ceretto team has a skilful hand and you will notice the sharpness and focus of the wine in the mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"From a plot in Treiso, at an altitude of around 400 metres, raw material that benefits from biodynamic cultivation. On the nose, jammy sour cherries with a hint of peony, nuances of dogwood skin and mentholated notes. Juicy and sweet on the palate, with a fruity and floral finish." Luca Gardini

Deep orange with amber-coloured reflections. Seductive, initially slightly reductive, oxidative, sweet bouquet of dried orange, peach and sweet spices. On the palate, it has an impressively silky texture with lush fruit, honey notes, hints of baked apple and vanilla. It is firm, stable and could be mistaken for a red wine when tasted blind. Be sure to temper it to 14-16°C, decant and keep a little for the next day! SUPERIORE.DE

A great Barbaresco, destined for long ageing: Garnet red, concentrated and powerful aromas of red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint and tobacco. The flavour is also bursting with power and richness, but still has a captivating purity, immediacy and elegance, the framework of which is formed by the beautifully integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Barbaresco Gallina has a slightly sweet side that is reinforced by the warm sunshine of the summer season but also from the oak aging. There is ripe cherry and cassis along with spice and cured tobacco. The wine is open-knit and quite accessible in terms of mouthfeel. This Barbaresco is pretty much ready to drink straight out of the gate." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina is terrific. Brilliant and focused, with mid-weight depth, the 2020 impresses with its poise more than anything else. All the elements are so well balanced. Dried flowers, spice, herbs, mint and licorice open with a bit of coaxing. As is often the case, the Gallina is quite understated in feel." Vinous

Barbaresco “Vigneto Gallina” DOCG 2021 (BIO)
A great Barbaresco, destined for long ageing: Garnet red, concentrated and powerful aromas of red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint and tobacco. The flavour is also bursting with power and richness, but still has a captivating purity, immediacy and elegance, the framework of which is formed by the beautifully integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Showing a medium-dark ruby color, the La Spinetta 2021 Barbaresco Gallina has a pretty bouquet with aromas of fresh raspberry, tar and dark licorice. The wine initially offers pretty good definition and precision, but it grows even more linear and vertical as it opens in the glass." Wine Advocate
"The Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina 2021 is powerful, intoxicating and exuberant. An onslaught of dark fruit, leather, spice, menthol, liquorice and mocha builds effortlessly. The Gallina offers a lot of immediacy. It can be very approachable at first, but it has always developed very well." Vinous
"Very fragrant and bright with aromas of stems, plums and raspberries. Medium body, firm and racy tannins and a lively finish. Powerful and polished. The finish shows focus and precision. Excellent balance. The best wine in a long time. Best after 2027." James Suckling

Barbaresco “Vigneto Valeirano” DOCG 2020
The grapes for this exceptional wine come from vineyards 450 metres above sea level in the Neive district. Fine spicy notes, dark berries and wet earth dominate the precise structure and power of this yet very elegant red. Buy, store and savour in anticipation! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Barbaresco Vigneto Valeirano is a dark, brooding wine. Black cherry, graphite, sage, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and incense infuse the 2020 with tremendous complexity. Powerful but not overdone, it should evolve well for many years to come." Vinous
"Black cherries, fresh flowers, rose stems and lavender aromas follow through to full-bodied palate with chewy tannins that are long and intense. Powerful and structured. Give it four or five years to soften." James Suckling

Barbaresco “Vigneto Starderi” DOCG 2020
Barbaresco Starderi from the municipality of Neive is almost austere with its scent of pink pepper and cocoa, which combined with the subtle woody notes gives a delicious overall aroma; powerful and rich in flavour with the still superficial but very noble tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barbaresco Starderi 2020 shows dark fruits, dried cherries and tarry smoke. The Starderi has a savoury side, and the wine offers additional density and concentration on the finish. Like some of the other wines from the warm growing season of 2020, this wine is more immediate overall, making it well suited for short- and medium-term drinking. But it should also age well if you choose to do so." Wine Advocate
"Very floral with fresh and dried flowers on the nose as well as cherries and hibiscus with some sliced strawberries. Medium to full body, with well-integrated tannins and a long and concentrated finish. Give this wine three or four years to develop." James Suckling
"The Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi 2020 has developed wonderfully. Bright and concentrated, with enormous purity, it impresses from the very first sip. Crushed flowers, sweet red fruits, mint, blood orange and bright salty notes race across the palate." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino “Filo di Seta” DOCG 2020
Sandro Chia had the right instinct when he acquired the very high vineyard, which his neighbours had actually advised him not to buy. Named after this single vineyard, the famous artist and his son Filippo vinified a wine here that is somewhat denser than the normal Annata. The full bouquet has lively notes of dark red cherries, spices, plums and leather. Filo di Seta is racy and opulent, but still has a clearly recognisable structure and impresses with its impressive balance. Sweet floral and spicy notes lend it exciting nuances on the expressive finish. A bold and incredibly viral Brunello and a masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"Extremely elegant, fine and floral-dominated bouquet with dark cherry and floral-spicy notes, tobacco, cedar and chocolate. Juicy, supple palate, quite powerful and full-bodied, enormously fruity, meltingly creamy texture, engaging, perfectly elaborated tannin texture." Weinwisser
"Starts with a lot of esprit on aromas of raspberries, herbs and lilac; elegant in the mouth, the tannins powerful and youthful, then lots of fruit, also fine tartness in the finish." Vinum
"The Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta 2020 is youthful and restrained. As you swirl the glass, layers of crushed stone, dried flowers, plums and smoky blackberries slowly unfold. The texture is pure silk, with polished red and black fruits topped by a balsamic hint that accumulates towards the finish. Dramatically long yet youthfully tense, it finishes structured with a saturation of fine tannins and a hint of exotic spice. Bury the Filo di Seta in the cellar. It is a sleeping beauty." Vinous
"Filippo Chia and his team have succeeded in this vintage. The Castello Romitorio 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta is a beautiful and well-balanced wine. This winery produces some of the best Brunellos from Montalcino today. This wine shows a broad and complete bouquet that encompasses many flavours, all presented with direct vertical intensity. This is one of the delightful contradictions that occur in a good wine. It shows a soft, uplifting intensity, but above all the fruit quality is bright and fresh. This is a wine to remember." Vigna Loreto from the sun-drenched single vineyard of the same name right next to the winery is only vinified in the best vintages and delivers an even more intense interpretation of the Sangiovese grape every year. If you are looking for a soft and contemporary expression of Sangiovese, this is the wine for you. It offers a deep richness and texture infused with black fruits, spice and tobacco. This wine goes a step beyond the normal boundaries of Brunello in terms of richness and extraction. For all its undoubtedly beguiling opulence, it is nevertheless a straightforward and altogether superb wine that will gain in finesse and elegance with age. SUPERIORE.DE
"Another wonderfully multi-faceted, fragrant nose with ripe raspberries and strawberries, cherry skin, a touch of mint, forest floor and with airy, wonderfully floral notes such as lilac and dried roses. Extremely juicy in the mouth, very supple and full of finesse with silky fine tannins, everything fits together well, very balanced with fine nuances and good freshness." Weinwisser
"Elegant, bright ruby red colour. Initially hints of mint and rosehip, with some violets and elegant earthy tones. On the palate with tightly woven, compact tannins, punchy and powerful, with a beautiful salinity and a minimally broad texture at the back." Falstaff
"Complex bouquet of plums and flowers, also nuances of orange zest, tobacco and spices; beautifully polished, with vivid acidity and robust tannins, the polished finish on notes of berries and lilac." Vinum
"The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto 2020 is tightly closed in its youthful state. An eruption of crushed ash stones combines with grilled herbs, dusty earth and dried black cherries. The wine is surprisingly juicy and energetic, with a creamy texture yet remarkable lift, showing ripe red and blue fruits underscored by fresh acidity. Its minerality comes through on the finish, along with sweet tannins that add a lovely frame as notes of citrus, blackberry and cocoa fade out." Vinous
"This wine focuses on violet-scented aromas, cherries and raspberries, as well as a slightly toasty undertone. It is very flavoursome on the palate, with crisp acidity, firm but ripe tannins and a polished finish." James Suckling
"The Mastrojanni 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto encompasses dark fruit nuances of plums, mulberries and pomegranate concentrate. As the bouquet gains air, blue flowers, grilled rosemary and root beer emerge. The effect is powerful, but at the same time nuanced and complex. Compared to many other wines from the 2020 vintage, this wine has a greater structural density and better length." Wine Advocate
"Great accuracy between the vineyard and the cellar for an icon of this type. Great tension on the nose, red currant jam, citrine thyme sensations, then gardenia and nutmeg. In the mouth, officinal and small fruit memories, with spicy hints. It closes with long persistence." Luca Gardini

“Palafreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Palafreno 2019 is wonderfully polished and lively. Firm but well-integrated tannins form the backbone for a Merlot that is endowed with considerable energy. Spicy herbs, tobacco and wild flowers add complexity. Very nuanced on the palate, opulent to expressive, then at second glance supple, downright elegant. Almost unbeatable in complexity, depth and richness of finesse, it will reveal more and more of its first-class repertoire in the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with purple and opaque core. Very spicy on the nose, with dark berry fruit, cherries, blackberries, a hint of sealing wax, cassis and a fine fleshy component. On the palate hearty, compact and balanced, spans the palate with great dark berry fruit, shows noble resinous notes in addition, very exciting and juicy, great length, put away." Falstaff
"This is very polished and structured with a finesse to the tannins which spread across the palate. It’s full-bodied with fine fruit and a driven finish. It needs three or four years to soften and open." James Suckling
"The 2019 Palafreno, 100% Merlot from Greve's Ruffoli district, is stunning, not to mention one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted here. Silky, plush and exceptionally vivid in the glass, the Palafreno possesses breathtaking beauty that captivates all the senses. At this early stage, the 2019 is all primary dark fruit, but the layers will start to open with cellaring. Readers who can find it should not hesitate. It's a real head turner." Vinous

Barolo “Marassio” DOCG 2020
At the very top of the Serradenari parcel, the fruit grows for an exceptional Barolo, with which the young winemaker Giulia Negri has truly created a monument to herself. Marassio clearly benefits from the cool climate of Piedmont's high altitudes and will therefore hardly change its character even if the climate continues to change.
Rose petals, fresh cherry mousse and fine spicy notes on the nose. Lively yet precise on the palate, with an aristocratic coolness in which cherries, spices and forest floor are concealed with great restraint and only hesitantly reveal their complexity. The tannins are still demanding and gripping when young, but you can already sense the finesse and elegance that this great wine will confidently display in the glass as it matures, without ever becoming loud. SUPERIORE.DE
"An intense wine with aromas of peach peel, blood oranges, graphite, violets and cinnamon. The palate is soft and velvety with a medium to full body, fruit concentration and a chewy finish due to the tension of acidity and tannins. Slightly toasty finish. Graceful Barolo not without the structure for aging." James Suckling
"This wine elegantly marries the warmth of cedar and sandalwood aromas with an array of drying red fruits sprinkled with rose. Sturdy on the palate with vibrant acidity enhancing the perception of the high-toned, tart red fruits that yield to more savory and earthy elements on the elegant finish." Wine Enthusiast

"A mix of savory and fruity, this red embraces rose hip, cherry, raspberry, juniper, eucalyptus and iron flavors in its silky texture. Well-structured, too, yet overall expresses finesse, with a terrific, persistent aftertaste. Shows impressive harmony and complexity." Wine Spectator
"The Bio La Spinetta 2021 Barbaresco Starderi Vürsù is a very nice wine that I prefer to the Gallina and the Valeriano. It is characterised by its medium-bodied density and spicy concentration with layers of dark fruit and blackberry jam. The quality of the fruit is very dense and rich, and the wine offers sharp definition. With time, it develops a dark, smoky side with caraway and barbecue spices." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of strawberry, peach and fresh pink rose. Also some hibiscus. Full-bodied and very complex with lovely tannins that are soft and creamy in texture, yet compact and concentrated. Best after 2028, but already drinking so beautifully now." James Suckling
"The 2021 Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi is one of the finest wines I have tasted from La Spinetta. Vibrant and balanced, with striking beauty, the 2021 is wonderfully lively in the glass. Crushed rose petals, spices, mint, orange peel and cinnamon rise from the glass. Lively acids." Vinous

"In the bottle with the rhinoceros and the blue label, the organic La Spinetta 2021 Barbaresco Valeirano Vürsù is a full-bodied expression of Nebbiolo with good definition and a medium-rich texture. You get dark fruit, spice, fragrant tea leaf and hints of cured meat." Wine Advocate
"Lots of rose petals and botanicals with cherries and dried peaches on the nose. Full-bodied with juicy and plush tannins. Intensely flavoured and very long. There's a lot going on here. Very solid and crisp. Still needs time, drinkable in four or five years." James Suckling
"The Barbaresco Vigneto Valeirano 2021 is a complex, dynamic wine that captures all the presence of the Treiso. This fruit is harvested a little riper, which is necessary to soften the tannins, so the flavour profile is a little racier. That said, I'm intrigued by the complexity, nuance and detail of the wine. It's a great wine." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
When the world-famous Oenologist Carlo Ferrini makes his own wine, you can't help but be excited. Here, he has succeeded in creating an interpretation of Sangiovese that brings all his experience from decades of working with this grape variety to the fore as if through a burning glass. The moderate use of wood through ageing in 700-litre tonneaux expresses the clarity and personality of the grape and the unique terroir (there are just 1.5 hectares of the best Brunello sites) in an archetypal way. A great harmony of dark cherries, black fruits, spices, leather and tobacco, ideally integrated tannins and great persistence will quickly make the few thousand bottles a sought-after collector's item. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, medium-dense ruby-garnet colour. Opens with notes of blood orange, fresh plum, black cherry, some rose petal in the background. Juicy and compact on the attack and on the palate, shows plenty of dense tannins, builds up in layers, dark cherry fruit, savoury pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red colour. Closed nose with a hint of Moroccan leather. Rich, tangy cherry with a hint of oak and polished but firm tannins. Very seductive and with the typical signature of Ferrini - the eternal suave. Long, but not quite open yet, and the tannins still need to dissolve a little into the fruit. Shows real potential and promise and is not uninteresting." Jancis Robinson
"For Carlo Ferrini, who normally advises numerous wineries in Tuscany and beyond, 2018 was a classic year. His Brunello is one of the shooting stars. The wine opens elegantly and full of finesse with red and dark blue fruit as well as a wonderful black cherry flavour and floral nuances. Wonderfully juicy on the palate with a fresh fruit presence. Subtly interwoven with delicate hints and the noble cedar notes of the wooden barrel ageing. Very precise yet intense with good concentration for the vintage and extremely silky, grippy tannins." Weinwisser
"Notes of farmyard, caramel, wood, cedar and toast on the nose. Vibrant sweet strawberry and red berry fruit on the palate, a hint of spiciness, bitterness and a creamy feel from the tannins. I like the gentle saltiness - wet stone and salt gracing the palate, and the sweetness with acidity that keeps everything so buoyant and cheerful. An extremely elegant expression, smooth, balanced and complete." Decanter
"Flavours of black cherries, violets, lavender and orange peel follow through to a medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. So focussed and radiant. Agile and weightless on the finish. Not the greatest Giodo, but beautiful and precise." James Suckling
"Tasted at the Giodo estate in one of the most remote and beautiful areas of the appellation, surrounded by forests and sweeping panoramas, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino gives us a promising taste of what we can expect from this warm vintage. The wine offers ripe but delicate flavours of cassis and dark cherries with nuances of lilac, violets and crushed limestone. The tannins are present and well integrated. Carlo Ferrini's Brunello promises a long ageing period." Wine Advocate
"The nose brings an umami sanguinity, with notes of tar, petrol and soil, but undertones of black cherries and blackberries make those aromas invigorating rather than harsh. The fruit ripens on the palate, but a slow-developing, spiced earthiness works with deliberate tannins and latent acid to maintain propriety." Wine Enthusiast
"The great project of the Ferrini family from Sant'Angelo in Colle, a Brunello characterised by constant excellence. Intense on the nose, with aromas of cranberry, fresh pepper leaf and blood orange peel, with earthy notes. Spicy sip, fruity and citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Aleste” DOCG 2020
"This is our flagship wine, a Barolo recognised the world over, which we have always nourished and cared for with greatest respect. Nothing will change. This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" with the 2013 vintage. This Barolo is a masterpiece from Luciano Sandrone in every respect. Not only a historic product but also the only cru of the house from the renowned Cannubi area in Barolo. Rich ruby colour, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. Great suppleness on the palate, lots of fruit, dense tannins, very persistent final with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby colour with a fine garnet shimmer. Opens with notes of plums, rose petals and pickled peach. Polished on the palate, shows layers of tannin, juicy strawberry fruit, flows calmly, very elegant and long." Falstaff
"This wine captivates with aromas of oil-infused rose petals and Maresca cherries overlaid with notes of incense that rise from the glass. The palate is intense, dark and rich, offering a mouth-filling experience of dark plums and an abundance of mixed sweet spices accompanied by dried bay leaves and black tea. The wine finishes with elegant tannins and a powerful acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"This red wine shows broad flavours of cherry, plum, tar, eucalyptus and sweet spices, with an accent of liquorice. It walks a fine line between power and elegance, with a well-integrated structure, refined tannins and a racy, resonant finish." Wine Spectator
"The Barolo Aleste 2020 is a noble, elegant wine that is easy to drink right from the start. Black cherry, plum, mocha, liquorice and dark spices resonate beautifully. Soft and juicy, with silky tannins, the 2020 Aleste is an absolute charmer." Vinous
"The 2020 Barolo Aleste is multi-layered with sweet earth and drunken cherry. It shows seamless integration and a crescendo of intensity that starts with ripe fruit and moves into oak elements, liquorice, spice and balanced acidity. This wine has a beautiful mouthfeel, with length and complexity. The Aleste is made from the fruit of Cannubi Boschis in the commune of Barolo. This is the full programme." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of cherries and hibiscus with hints of tar and dried flowers such as roses. Full-bodied and complex, with lots of juicy and rich fruit that shows the warmth of the vintage but is framed by creamy and chewy tannins that give it shape and intensity. A very serious and structured 2020." James Suckling

Sangiovese in purezza. Wonderfully spicy aroma, dark forest berries and cherries, some graphite and cedar wood. Silky elegance on the palate, juicy, dark berries, paired with an animating interplay of fruit and acidity that really lets the wine dance across the tongue. Percarlo has depth and length as well as potential for many years in the cellar. One of the great single-varietal Sangiovese wines of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE
"The organic San Giusto a Rentennano 2020 Percarlo comes from a vintage full of power, concentration and dark fruit flavours. All of these elements are delivered here, and as always, the wine shows an impeccable Sangiovese balance with an emphasis on primary fruit, integrated tannins and bright acidity. Indeed, the wine tastes young, which is more than can be said for most other releases from the 2020 vintage. However, this expression is still holding back a little and therefore promises excellent development in the cellar." Wine Advocate
"The Percarlo 2020 is a wine of almost indescribable finesse and nuance. All the elements are so well balanced. In 2020, the Percarlo is wonderfully understated, with a stunning balance and barely perceptible tannins. I can't remember ever having tasted a Percarlo with so much linear energy, tension and focus. The clean, mineral finish is unforgettable. The 2020 is quite simply spectacular." Vinous

Noble mousse on the palate, salty, with good pressure, creamy, with a slight fumé, then a little rough on the mid-palate, can still mature." Falstaff
"A razor-like acidity defines the flavours of poached apricot, pineapple and white cherry, salted Marcona almond, verbena and spun honey, yet this wine finds a seamless balance and integration, helped by the soft, raw-silk texture of the refined mousse." Wine Spectator
"Rich and complex nose with baked apples, ripe peaches, crushed almonds, brioche and biscuit. Full-bodied, deep and multi-layered with fine bubbles and a powerful mineral backbone. Dry and chalky with a long finish and a hint of nuttiness at the end. Zero dosage." James Suckling
"The 2015 Franciacorta Annamaria Zero is wonderfully rich yet pure and precise, opening with an air of almond custard, dried flowers, incense and spices complicating hints of yellow apples. Broad and pliant, it washes across the palate with weighty waves of silken bubbles lifted by brisk acidity as crisp orchard fruit tones cascade throughout, taking on a salty sensation toward the close. Tactile and incredibly long, this finishes with tension, leaving hints of lemon oil and hazelnut to linger on. The 2015 is stacked yet beautifully balanced for a long and steady evolution." Vinous
