The first Caggiole was launched on the market in 1988 and disappeared again in 1995 because the flagship Asinone simply met consumer tastes better at the time. Today - after an absence of over 20 years - the Nobile Le Caggiole is back on the market as the estate's new first wine. Estate owner Dott. Federico Carletti has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna - setting a new benchmark for Poliziano and the entire denomination. Brilliant, elegant ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. Salty, mineral and refined. Le Caggiole represents the terroir and the Sangiovese grape variety (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine from the estate. It is almost light-footed, svelte, delicate and at the same time very fine. Angelo's grandfather spoke of a disgrace when Angelo planted a vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon. This word (Darmagi in Italian) ultimately gave the single-varietal Cabernet its name. The extraordinary result is anything but a disgrace: black fruits, espresso, grilled herbs and cassis in a rich and dense bouquet. Elegance and harmony on the palate, flavours of leather and a certain earthiness increase the complexity. The name says it all. This wine is a reminiscence of a bygone era. It is a Gewürztraminer vinified in the traditional style with clearly perceptible residual sugar. The grapes come from two of the oldest Gewürztraminer vineyards near the Nußbaumerhof in Tramin from soils with calcareous gravel and porphyry rock.

In order to develop its character in the best possible way, Epokale matures for seven years in the darkness of the Ridnaun tunnel on the Schneeberg at an altitude of over 2,000 metres. Here, four kilometres deep inside the mountain, it retains its freshness and gains elegance thanks to an environment in which constant humidity and a cool temperature of 11 degrees prevail all year round.

Intense golden yellow colour. Impressive bouquet of rose petals, some lavender and ripe, exotic fruit. Spicy notes of dried herbs, sage, ginger, saffron and cinnamon. A wine with pronounced flavours, infinite depth and at the same time fine spicy juiciness and salty minerality. "Epokale is the top bottling of Gewürztraminer from Tramin, reminiscent of the traditional style of the region, with plenty of residual sugar. Nevertheless, it is incredibly balanced and fresh. Produced for the first time in 2009, Epokale is made from grapes grown on dolomitic limestone soils with a high clay content. This helps to cool the vines and ensures maximum acidity, which balances out the high sugar content of the grapes. The wine is vinified in stainless steel before being taken to an old silver mine at 2,000 metres above sea level, 4 km inside the mountain, where there is a constant temperature of 11°C with high humidity. Here the wine rests for seven years. This 2016, the most recent release, is rich, round, viscous and spicy, with flavours of stone fruit, lime and lychee as well as grilled pineapple, rosewater, apricot, white peach and floral aromas. A savoury finish helps to cleanse the palate while maintaining a certain verticality despite its full body. Drink it now, or savour it over the next 10 years (or longer)." Decanter

The grapes of Romirasco come from the single vineyard of the same name in the Bussia district. The vines stand at an altitude of about 400 m and are up to 55 years old. It is probably the spiciest representative in Aldo Conterno's overall programme. On the nose, fine notes of tar and smoke, along with cherry, elderberries and menthol. On the palate, notes of raspberry, redcurrant, rosemary and thyme immediately take over. The wine stands almost vertically in the glass, the different fruit and spice components marry in a most elegant way and make this wine monument one of the most irresistible representatives of the entire Barolo world every year. The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. In this way, the Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the autochthonous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1970s of the twentieth century for the Taurasi and between the years 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and today impressively highlights the genuine character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed by high concentration and intensity alone.

Stilèma Taurasi is an austere and complex wine with excellent drinkability and great ageing potential. A modern interpretation of the style of the great Taurasi from the 1950s and 1960s. Stilèma Taurasi is the result of a compositional work that has brought together different but synergistic micro-territorial stories, creating a unique and complex expressiveness. Pietradefusi, Montemarano, Paternopoli and Mirabella Eclano are the different sites of the family from which the grapes come, distinguished by their altitude, microclimate and soils.

Rocche di Castiglione is prized for its pure white, chalky soils, which produce wines of exceptional finesse and a wide range of flavours. For lovers of timeless Nebbiolo, it is a real hit. The vines are located not far from the winery, which blends into the stone walls and urban fabric of the village of Castiglione Falletto. The vineyard is about one hectare in size. Rocche di Castiglione is a curiously shaped and elongated MGA with a unique south-east exposure along a steep ravine, with Bussia to the west and Perno to the east. This site is characterised by freshness, extreme precision, straightforwardness, structure and balanced freshness. Barolo Ravera is a wine of great impact and power, and it is also a wine of the future. This is because Ravera (in the municipality of Novello) is one of the best vineyards that never ceases to surprise and impress, despite the changing climate. Thanks to the high altitude and the open view of the snow-capped mountains, the microclimate is well ventilated but protected at the same time. On the nose, freshly cut flowers, white pepper and mint, shy at first but very energetic and straightforward as the wine progresses. On the palate, preserved dark cherries, lavender, mint, crushed stones and hints of sage. All in all, a powerful, breathtaking and deep Barolo, endowed with great purity and beautiful transparency. Around 60% of the grapes for the Monvigliero are not destemmed, which enhances the aromatic nuances of the wine. Youthful notes of raspberry and blueberry are flanked by black pepper, gentian, porcelain and black olives. On the palate, it has a beguilingly soft texture, fine and creamy, accompanied by wonderful flavours of laurel and flowers. Vietti's Brunate parcels are located on the La Morra side of the cru site. It was fermented in stainless steel and then transferred directly to large oak barrels for ageing. Barolo Cerequio comes from vines that are over 35 years old. The vineyards were acquired by Michele Chiarlo in the 2010s through fortunate circumstances. Opens with aromas of freshly halved cherries, which are joined by a mixture of cloves, allspice and vanilla, while fresh roses are almost close at hand. On the palate, concentrated and lush plums and mixed berries, while black tea, liquorice and subtle earthy flavours gradually emerge. In the mid-palate, the tannins are still clearly noticeable, but with a little time all parts will be in balance. Terra di Lavoro 2021 is still far too young to make a final judgement, but this much is already clear: with sufficient aeration, it continues to develop rapidly and offers new, wonderful impressions with every new sip.

Notes of red berries, aromatic hints of fresh and balsamic undergrowth. Plump and full-bodied on the palate, with a very firm fruit centre and a wonderful correspondence with the beautifully layered bouquet. Its structure and all the aromatic components, its fine mineral vein and its present tannin profile indicate a wonderful ageing period. As it progresses into the final, it is already characterised by noble balsamic notes, a wonderful fruitiness and beautiful persistence. 2021 will be one of the really great Terra if it is given enough time for further refinement in the bottle!
