“Le Orme” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2022
The grapes for Chiarlo's classic come from various vineyards in southern Asti, in particular from the Podere La Court and Montemareto vineyards in Castelnuovo Calcea, La Serra in Montaldo Scarampi and Costa delle Monache in Agliano. Le Orme is the prototype of a young, fresh red with a clean fruit flavour of plum and blackberry. On the palate, the wine is flavoured with high-toned red cherries and raspberries, framed by elegant and fine tannins with perfect acidity on the finish. Mario Schiopetto was born in 1930, he grew up in the family-owned Osteria ai Pompieri and had his first professional experiences as a fireman and later as a truck driver. In 1963, guided only by his taste and love of wine, he began to devote himself to wine production in his parents' farm and produced the first pure Tocai in 1965. The historic label at the time included the drawing of his fire engine, which he also used to deliver the wine to customers. With the 2019 vintage, the winery recalled these historical roots and resumed the cute drawing on part of its wine labels.
Light straw yellow with greenish shimmer. Fine, not too strong bouquet of exotic fruits, some gooseberry and notes of white flowers. Very good balance on the palate, good volume, drinky and with a nice tension between green fruity and fine spicy notes. “Rimosso” Vino Frizzante Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC 2022 secco
The first alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in steel tanks on the fine lees at a controlled temperature and after a waiting period of at least six months, the wine is bottled. The bottles remain at a constant temperature of 12°C so that the wine can undergo its second fermentation and mature on its own yeasts, which remain at the bottom of the bottle as a light sediment (note: it is not filtered!).
An animating cherry red colour with violet reflections and a yeasty cloudiness due to the lack of filtration. A surprisingly cheeky nose of wild strawberry and redcurrant, very fresh and accessible. The palate is vibrant with lots of raspberry and traces of rhubarb, the exciting interplay is flanked by delicate yeast tones and a wonderfully present acidity and ensures an impressive race and class that only the Lambrusco grandmaster Christian Bellei can conjure up in the bottle!
