“De Ferrari” Rosso Toscana IGT 2022 · 6 bottles in OWC
Rosso De Ferrari from Boscarelli reveals a broad aroma of chocolate and redcurrants alongside the classic cherry flavour. This astonishing complexity for a wine of this price class continues in the flavour, in which the dense, soft structure is extremely pleasant. Well done! SUPERIORE.DE

“Vigneti La Selvanella” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
As always, the Chianti Classico La Selvanella Riserva presents itself as an exemplary wine. Deep, dark ruby red in colour. Complex aromas of ripe plums, raspberries, candied orange zest and hints of spice harmonise perfectly. Well-articulated and rich flavour with polished tannins, full-bodied and progressive. SUPERIORE.DE
"Clear aroma of ripe black berries and rose hips with dried floral and slightly herbal aromas, a hint of leather, some dark ethereal spice, tobacco ash and hints of herbs. Ripe, clear and firm, tart-juicy fruit, present, yet quite fine tannins, some smoke and toast on the palate, a certain acid bite, dried-vegetable to herbaceous tones, good persistence. Has power, but still a certain coolness, very good, firm finish with oregano." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Smells of graphite, dark berry fruit and fine earthy tones on the nose. Polished on the palate, with a juicy core and a clear fruit flavour, the tannins remain subtly in the background." Falstaff
"Dried cherries, dates, oak, leather, damp leaves and French toast. Good fruit concentration, soft mouthfeel, lively acidity and a long finish. The powerful tannins need some time to resolve." Decanter
"A fragrant red with a shy nose of blue fruits, dried herbs and some crushed rocks and raspberries. Tightly wound and medium to full-bodied with delicate red fruit flavours. Very compact, with an elegant stiffness that is very appealing. Pure Sangiovese from a single vineyard in Radda in Chianti, one of the highest villages in Chianti Classico. It is already drinkable now, but I would like to taste it again in a few years." James Suckling

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
La Grola is the eponymous, historic vineyard where Corvina, the indigenous grape of Valpolicella, is believed to have originated. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini triggered an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing region, which today stands for convincing, great red wines from the north-east of Italy.
Dense, dark ruby red in colour, very rich and powerful on the nose with notes of wild and overripe berries. The rich fullness of coffee to black cherries is underlined by present, pleasant tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense ruby red colour with brightening edges. A fragrant nose of dried flowers, sultanas and coffee, with pickled plums on the finish. Full-bodied on the palate with surprising acidity and a repeated coffee flavour on the finish." Falstaff
"Intense plums, raspberries, roses, bay leaves and a peppery note. Soft attack with velvety tannins that are a little taut on the finish. Crisp and exciting, with very well-integrated and crisp acidity, a medium body and good length. There is a lot of drinkability in its complexity." James Suckling

“Borgo” Chianti Classico DOCG 2022 · 6 bottles in OWC
Borgo 2022 is the debut vintage of a Chianti Classico that embodies the soul of San Felice with great character. Sangiovese and a small amount of Pugnitello combine to create a fragrant and lively wine that faithfully and authentically represents the unmistakable terroir. The overall impression is versatile and immediate, with freshness, fruity aromas and floral notes. Rich and complex on the palate, with sweet tannins that accompany a persistent and balanced finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is exactly the kind of wine you want to come home with. Its freshness alone is a pick-me-up. Its cherry, raspberry and blackberry-coloured fruit is so vibrant and three-dimensional and 'now' that it tastes like you're picking it in the garden in the sunlight and popping it straight into your mouth. You take a sip of it and look for spots of juice on your fingers. It's a happy wine. It's fabulous at this moment." Jancis Robinson
"A juicy, fresh and delicious red wine with flavours of plums, cherries and oranges. Medium-bodied, bright and lively. Why wait?" James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico Borgo 2022 opens with a medium-dark garnet red colour, characteristic of Sangiovese from a warm vintage. The wine's bouquet is true to the variety, with aromas of wild cherry, floral earth, iris and blue flowers in the background. These flavours are delivered in a very clean and concentrated way, followed by good acidity. It is approachable and pleasant to drink, especially when a plate of pasta with meat ragout is on the menu." Wine Advocate
"This broad, rich red wine shows flavours of cherries, raspberries, iron and wild herbs. Well defined and firmly structured, with a fluid feel and excellent length on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Sanguine and floral with a delicate but persistent earthiness on the nose, offering flavours of cranberry, hibiscus, earth and coffee. The same mix of tart fruit and slightly bitter earth defines the palate, while a lively acidity washes over still slightly dusty tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The Chianti Classico Borgo 2022 is a racy, sensual wine. Crushed red berry fruit, wild flowers and cinnamon fill out the layers beautifully, all framed by soft contours that give it plenty of charm. This juicy red wine has a lot to offer." Vinous

“Ognisanti di Novare” Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
The grapes for this high-calibre Valpolicella Classico Superiore come from the rather barren, calcareous and terraced vineyards of Tenuta Novare above the Ognisanti church. Wines of greater complexity, perfect structure and higher concentration are produced here than in most other vineyards in Valpolicella. Sparkling ruby-garnet colour. Fragrant nose with wonderful overtones of sour cherry, dried flowers and white pepper. Perfectly balanced on the palate with firm tannins and wonderful spice and depth of fruit thanks to the ageing in wood. A superior, winning wine from the heart of the Valpolicella region. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light ruby red colour with edge brightening. Lots of herbs and tobacco on the nose at the start, followed by compact cherry fruit. Lively and refreshing on the palate, harmonious, animating, juicy, ripe tannins and vibrant acidity, lingering final." Falstaff
"There is a palpable energy to this gorgeous expression, distinguishing it from the galumphing standard of so many in the region. Pinot in spades, with a tingle of red mountain berries and orange peel. The taut and pumice-like tannins direct crunchy length. The oak is evident but very subtle. The acidity is palate-whetting and juicy. A delicious wine." James Suckling

“Catullo” Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
The grapes for this fine Valpolicella come from limestone marl soils in the terraced vineyards of the Novare winery. Similar to the Amarone method, the grapes undergo a second fermentation on the sweetish skins of dried grapes in March after the harvest. Deep ruby red in colour, with warm spicy notes, cherry, black pepper and hints of chocolate on the palate. Animating in the glass with intense fruity flavours, wonderfully soft tannin structure and beautiful persistence. This multi-layered, luxurious wine has nothing to hide behind its big brother! SUPERIORE.DE
"Wild strawberry and cherry fruit is ripe and bright in this elegant red, with a tang of pomegranate seed and tangerine peel. Light on its feet and fresh, with light, chewy tannins showing on the lingering finish of aromatic mineral, spice and Mediterranean macchia notes." Wine Spectator
"If I were forced to choose a series of wines that could lead the anachronistic Ripasso category into a better future, this would be one of the few. A medium-bodied, lean expression with just enough fruit in the bones. Think strawberries, lilacs, Asian plums, cloves and a hint of liquorice. A noble, almost alpine bitterness lifts the finish. Brilliant." James Suckling

“Caiarossa” Bianco Toscana IGT 2022 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
The Viognier and Chardonnay vines grow on Caiarossa's most calcareous terroir. The grapes are fermented separately in oak barrels, matured on the lees and blended at the end, with little or no racking in order to produce the wine with as little oxygen contact as possible. The result is a precise and clean white wine that, with its beautiful volume, depth and smoothness with fragrant flavours of flowers and almonds, goes well with a delicate and fragrant pesto. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale straw yellow with green-yellow reflections. Still shy and reserved on the nose with hints of citrus fruit and melon. More present on the palate, soft, yet with animating acidity, fine fruit melting into the finish." Falstaff

“Polissena” Sangiovese Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2019 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Polissena shows the typical signature of Il Borro: the wines are made as typical of the grape variety as possible and therefore come into the glass as authentically and transparently as possible - particularly recognisable here with Sangiovese. The nose has a fine cherry flavour with hints of wild berries, forest floor, herbs and a little plum. On the palate, the typical acidity is paired with delicate fruit, a firm centre and a taut final. The 12-month maturation in used and almost neutral barriques is very conducive to the freshness and straightforwardness of the Polissena. Great drinking pleasure and stylistically comparable to a Brunello! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lifted nose with herbs, spice and red fruit. Vanilla and dill notes mingle with cherry and orange zest nuances." Decanter
"Il Borro’s 2019 Valdarno di Sopra Sangiovese Vigna Polissena sees 30 days of fermentation and is aged in neutral barrique for 18 months. It offers a silky and gentle character with very direct fruit that is softened by oak spice. A pretty note of minerality seals the deal." Wine Advocate
"The nose is sunny and wild, with aromas of warm tar and brick dust, then Bing cherries and blood orange, then packed earth, crushed sage and wild fennel that roll onto a round and lush palate of strawberries, cherries, bitter orange and wild herbs. A hint of acidity and a growing peppery spiciness on the back palate linger into a lingering finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Flavours of cedar, salted caramel, fresh flowers and cherries follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that integrate beautifully with the wine. A hint of wood at the end, but a lovely finish." James Suckling

Poggio Lombrone is a selection of Sangiovese vines that are over fifty years old. The 2018 vintage is stunningly beautiful and absolutely classic with a bouquet that opens with crushed black cherries, cooling sweet herbal notes and dusty cedar. After some time in the glass, flavours of plums, cranberries and undergrowth unfold. Velvety and rich on the palate, harmonious, with ripe wild berries pouring over a core of savoury acids balanced by a hint of sour citrus. All framed by fine tannins that slowly rise towards the end. In the delightful final, rosy flowers, ferruginous mineral notes and savoury spices, great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Shimmering ruby red colour. Spicy notes and ripe, dark fruit predominate on the nose. Finely integrated tannins and soft, ripe fruit flavours on the palate, mouth-filling with good length." Falstaff
"Cherry pits, tomato leaves, sage and crushed pepper on the nose. It is medium to full-bodied, with beautifully polished, fine-grained tannins and a flavoursome, peppery finish." James Suckling
"The 2018 Montecucco Sangiovese Riserva Poggio Lombrone opens slowly in the glass, initially earthy and a little herbal, while notes of wild strawberries and dusty roses unfold with swirling. The palate is lapped by a seamless, silky texture and ripe wild berries, underpinned by salty minerals that gain traction towards the finish. A layer of fine tannin remains along with residual acids that maintain a lovely freshness as the Poggio Lombrone finishes discreetly and with medium length." Vinous

Davide Rosso's Etna Bianco from Contrada Montedolce is an energetic, fresh white that impressively emphasises its volcanic character with its mineral salinity. The bouquet begins elegantly with Sicilian flavours of orange blossom and sweet almonds, then opens up with fresh lemon, crushed apples and a hint of wet stone. Its medium concentration and crisp freshness will serve it well as it continues to develop in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wildly fresh and focused, the 2023 Etna Bianco wafts up with a lovely blend of peach sorbet, mint leaf and white smoke. Radici Taurasi DOCG 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
A very special wine made from overripe and strictly selected Aglianico grapes that thrive in Mastroberardino's south-facing vineyards. The Taurasi is aged for two years in oak barrels and one year in the bottle. A wine with a fascinating personality, power and extremely high ageing Storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Taurasi Radici is like pushing through a cinder block to find a treasure chest of exotic spices, incense and cinnamon-coloured blackcurrants. It's a soft and generous expression of Radici, with a depth of tart black fruits balanced by dark chocolate and sour citrus notes. It finishes with tremendous length, but without the typical hard tannins associated with Aglianico in its youth, leaving behind inner earth and herbal notes. The 2018 finishes on a savoury note. This Radici is a much stronger expression of Radici." Vinous
"Bright ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. On the nose, ripe heart cherries and dark forest berries, with an aftertaste of violets, leather and undergrowth, very complex. Fresh and savoury on the palate, with fine-grained and well-integrated tannins, lots of ripe fruit, long final, a long runner." Falstaff
"The Mastroberardino 2018 Taurasi Radici, with its distinctive black label, offers impressive complexity with a long succession of flavours that include dried blackberries, cherry liqueur, tarry smoke, campfire ash, sweet baking spices and cinnamon. Blackberries, rosemary sprigs and forest floor also characterise the bouquet. The whole is rounded off with soft tobacco. This wine displays powerful fruit and an equally balanced oak flavour. The tannins are well integrated and the Radici is long-lasting." Wine Advocate
"The nose is heavy with dark fruit and flowers, but edgier, slightly spicy aromas of graphite and pepper provide balance. On the palate, the fruit sweetens but is balanced by bitter dark chocolate, before an overwhelming earthiness arrives riding an avalanche of dusty tannins, and a rush of acid harkens back to the subtle metallic tang of the nose." “Per Lui” Salice Salentino Riserva DOC 2017 · 6 bottles in OWC
An impenetrably dense ruby red colour, the nose is dominated by a variety of ripe fruit aromas of sour cherry and black berries. The herbal flavours typical of the Negroamaro variety, its lively acidity and sweet tannins are well interwoven. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with brightening edges. Intense aroma of ripe plums, blackberries and sweet tobacco, cloves. Medium structure on the palate, fine fruit flavour and well-integrated tannins, lingering, fruity final." Falstaff
"The nose balances aromas of rich, dark berries with a fresh, medicinal herbaceousness, while overtones of pepper and cola provide sparkle. The interplay between fruit and herbs continues on the palate, before a chocolatey finish that's framed by firm but round tannins and a strong ripple of acid." Wine Enthusiast

“Fides Vigna Mosconi” Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
Barbera d'Alba Superiore Fides from the famous Mosconi vineyard offers a very nuanced bouquet characterised by blackberry, black cherry, cassis and plum on the one hand and pronounced mineral notes on the other. Fides offers a dark concentration and a soft, intense texture. Lavender, mint and sweet floral notes give it additional vigour and make it one of the best single-vineyard Barberas in Piedmont every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fruit for this wine is sourced from an excellent site in Monforte d'Alba. The Pio Cesare 2021 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Vigna Mosconi Fides is dark in color and rich and concentration. The wine offers a soft texture with plenty of dark fruit and blackberry. Those bleed nicely into sweet spice and light toast over a full-bodied finish." Wine Advocate

“Stilèma” Fiano di Avellino Riserva DOCG 2019 · 6 bottles in OWC
"The Stilèma project was created as a testimony to Antonio Mastroberardino's love for his land, his vines and his wines, and their original character." Piero Mastroberardino
The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. The Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the indigenous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the late 1950s and early 1970s for the Taurasi and between 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and that today impressively emphasises the genuine character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed through high concentration and intensity alone.
Pale straw yellow in colour with light green reflections. The 24 months of ageing on the lees of this exceptional Fiano creates a fascinating balance and complexity in the aroma profile with classic hints of flint, fine saltiness, the scent of fresh almonds, cedar wood and wild herbs. The flavour is lively with a pronounced mineral note, accompanied by an inspiring freshness that gives it great drinking flow and finesse. The precise and very long finish is also extremely convincing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Proof of the grape variety's ageing potential: On the nose, fresh hay and apple notes, including mint, are captivating; in the mouth, the wine is acidic and fresh with a fine salty minerality and a precise evolution towards citrus and apple notes." Vinum
"This slight hint of initial reduction fades to reveal soft citrus, exotic fruit, white peach and pear. The wine's flinty minerality is well defined. The fruit comes from four vineyards and the wine is mostly aged in stainless steel." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Fiano di Avellino Riserva Stilema is aromatically intense, with a burst of ground ginger, cumin, incense and crushed green apples. It's a seductress, with a sweet burst of ripe fruit on the attack that is quickly contrasted by lemon zest and vibrant acidity. As well as being incredibly fresh, the 2019 is also incredibly long, finishing with a sense of liquid stone and a pleasant bitter note that calls me back to the glass for more." Vinous
"A fresh Fiano with aromas of honeysuckle, flint, oyster shells and green pear, which fade into a medium body, a creamy texture and a fruity finish. Slightly salty on the finish." James Suckling
"A masterful, intense and complex pure Fiano. Beautiful profile on the nose, lychee, a hint of pink grapefruit and pineapple, with a finish of herbs, thyme and a hint of jasmine. Dense, iodised mouthfeel, lovely depth, with a return of exotic fruit." Luca Gardini
"The nose is sweet yet structured, thoughtful and almost wistful, with notes of vanilla, pear, yellow apple, lemon, dried pineapple and almond paste. On the elegant, equally compelling palate, a more intense lemon element swirls around fresher pineapple notes and emerging melon flavours before a toasted almond finish follows. The bright acidity adds a subtle sizzle to the overall silky mouthfeel." Wine Enthusiast

“Vigna Sassorosso” Grumello Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
The "Sassorosso" vineyard is located on a rocky promontory that is separated from the rest of the mountain and has been almost completely eroded by the glacier over the centuries. It is visually characterised by the unmistakable red colour of the ferrous inclusions in the rock. The overlying shallow soil layer consists of clay and sand and lies on friable, metamorphic rock into which the roots can penetrate. The unmistakably elegant and mineral character of the terroir is therefore particularly evident in this Nebbiolo.
Bright, transparent ruby red colour with a fine garnet hue. Small red fruits such as blackberry, redcurrant, cherry and raspberry on the nose, complemented by fresh, floral notes of violets and roses. Dense on the palate with a very flavourful attack, silky tannins and an almost endless finish. A wine of great rigour and purity with considerable ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby with garnet-red tendencies. Medium intensity on the nose with hints of wild raspberry and redcurrant, followed by floral and earthy notes. Clearer on the palate with fresh fruit, tightly woven tannins, fresh and juicy through to the finish." Falstaff
"This is minerally and enticing on the nose, but then a burst of ripe black raspberry, cherry and strawberry fruit flavors on the palate offers its own appeal. The creamy tannins provide fine, supple structure, while hints of fig cake, smoke and bay leaf are fragrant and lingering on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Valtellina Superiore Grumello Sassorosso reveals hints of iron ore, rusty nail, redcurrant and pressed rose. This wine reflects the earthy quality of Grumello. There is a brief moment of apricot-like sweetness on the mid-palate that transitions over to a tart flavor of wild plum or blood orange. The vintage warmth is felt in the silky nature of the mouthfeel and the wine's soft tannins. There are no rough spots here, and this has the most determined character among these new releases from Nino Negri." Wine Advocate
