Barolo “Falletto” DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
The Barolo Falletto from the vineyard of the same name in Serralunga, where the winery is located, has a wonderfully complex and racy personality. It impresses with the depth and intensity of its dark fruit and the outstanding overall balance that can only be found in this coveted vineyard. Its spectrum ranges from small dark berries to menthol, flowers and liquorice to a present tannin that is nevertheless trimmed to consistent elegance. It is a particularly precise and direct Barolo without being loud. However, its full character, variety of flavours and finesse will only really come to the fore with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Smoky cherry and wild berry fruit, nutmeg, Amarena cherry. Melting and powerful in the mouth, also grippy with a flattering sweetness and texture, will only develop its full potential in 5-8 years." Weinwisser
"Transparent carmine red. Again slightly spicy and slightly floral. Sweet and rich and very flattering. Long and by no means simple. More fruit than tannin at this early stage." Jancis Robinson
"Strawberry, cherry, rose, eucalyptus and stony mineral flavors are framed by dense, fine-grained tannins in this graceful, firmly structured red. Elegant and very Burgundy in profile, with a vibrant character and excellent length." Wine Spectator
"The depth and beauty of this wine are so tantalising and attractive that you want to drink the whole bottle. It's medium to full-bodied with cherries, strawberries and white truffle. Juicy and precise, with a real presence and complexity when it opens up. Best after 2027, but already beautiful now." James Suckling

“Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
Sassicaia 2020 is in one word: magical. Even at a young age, it shows an aromatic richness and intensity that inspires us. The optimal climate has favoured its very Mediterranean character, and so here presents a fresh and very direct wine that delights all the senses. Everything is in its place here and the omnipresent fruit gets an extra place on the podium in this vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium purple red, the bottom of the glass is clearly visible. Intense nose with a hint of iodine. Great spiciness that seems more Tuscan than Bordeaux. Long lasting with a very long finish. Embryonic but convincing that it has a bright future ahead of it. Subtle rather than showy. I wouldn't guess it was 14%. I aerated it and left it in a young wine decanter for an hour and it was a delight. It has more appeal than many previous vintages." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Sassicaia is a real beauty and shows great purity, elegance and silkiness. On the nose, it is a typical, noble Sassicaia with the typical liaison of Cabernet and Mediterranean spice, reminiscent of the neighbouring maquis forest. There are notes of lavender, but also Mediterranean herbs such as sage, myrrh and rosemary, refined with dark cherries, cassis, wild berries, graphite, tobacco and earth. Also in the mouth with noble restraint, the fine fruit presence is majestically underpinned by earthy and herbaceous notes, even a touch of olive tapenade resonates. Despite the present fruit, it appears fresh thanks to its penetrating acidity, with a silky texture and an elegant, grippy tannin structure. It is a seductive temptation to drink it young, but it will benefit from a few years of ageing. So patience will be rewarded with more complexity." Weinwisser
"The Tenuta San Guido 2020 Bolgheri Sassicaia appeals to those seeking a more lush, opulent and ultimately approachable wine. This vintage is an accurate reflection of coastal Tuscany, as opposed to a more generic 'Tuscan' wine from other parts of this great central Italian region. You can taste the ripeness and soft fruit weight that come from a coastal appellation with particularly bright light and warm Mediterranean breezes. Sassicaia from the cool vintages is notoriously a reticent wine in its early years, needing a long lead time before it settles into an ideal drinking window. That is definitely not the case here. This wine is beautiful and compelling from the start. It shows a beautiful blend of dark fruits, oak spice, balanced freshness, rich texture, soft tannins and a skilfully controlled alcohol level of 14%. The immediate character of the wine is what makes this vintage stand out and I wouldn't get too hung up on over-ambition for cellaring. The wine is a pure pleasure as it is, with overwhelming primary fruit and high intensity in the near and medium term." Wine Advocate
"A very fragrant Sassicaia on the nose with forest floor, citrus and dark fruits. Blackcurrants. Cedarwood and black tea. Some balsamic. Pine needles. Full and very juicy. Very long, structured and complete. Spicy and energetic with a linear line of fresh tannins and acidity. Very Sassicaia throughout. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest is Cabernet Franc. Very attractive now in a youthful and vibrant way but this will be better in three to four years. Try it after 2027." James Suckling
"The 2020 Sassicaia is a bold, rapturous wine. Dark, fleshy and expansive on the palate, the 2020 offers scents of blackberry jam, gravel, spices, new leather, liquorice and crème de cassis. The powerful tannins are almost masked by the sheer intensity of the fruit. The 2020 seems to have an added dimension of textural intensity. An intensity that is very appealing." Vinous
"Complex aromas and flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries, iron, sweet tobacco and Mediterranean herbs are the hallmarks of this elegant, exciting red wine, which already reveals a lot, yet seems restrained, as if there are still many facets to discover. It impresses with harmony, freshness and a long finish." Wine Spectator
"The frost damaged the earlier developing Cabernet Franc at the end of March, resulting in lower production but excellent quality fruit. The spring was mild and the summer generally warm, but a rapid acceleration of ripening in late summer forced the team to start harvesting in the first week of September to avoid over-ripening. This traditional blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc features an intense and balsamic flavour that brings out the character of blackcurrants, dust, leaves and cedar. It is balanced and light on its feet, with super-fresh acidity and a fine-grained, almost imperceptible tannin structure. Ripe and tangy raspberry and blueberry fruit linger on the mid palate, leading to a long, fresh finish with notes of cream and chocolate. This wine will reward ageing into the 2050s, but it will also provide much pleasure in its youth. We recommend storing it in the bottle for at least 10 months before opening it," says Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta." Decanter
"An - after aeration - increasingly promising bouquet of wild berries, with subtle hints of Mediterranean maquis and truffles; perfectly chiselled texture with youthful, tightly meshed tannins, the acidity provides that certain extra, in the persistent multi-faceted finish lots of fruit, but also spice. Timelessly elegant." Vinum
"Ruby red colour, compact and brilliant. The nose has clear notes of blackberries, with slightly wild notes of marjoram, floral nuances of peony and an iodine-balsamic finish. In the mouth crisp red fruits, tannins that combine well with the fresh-salty component, balsamic and liquorice on the finish, excellent drinkability. A wine that will last a long time." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 1 articles per customer“Tenuta di Trinoro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
Of all his wines, the flagship Tenuta di Trinoro offers the deepest insight into Andrea Franchetti's viticulture. Andrea changes the proprietary blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot from limestone and clay soils every year depending on the quality and quantity of the harvest. The grapes are always the best of the vintage. Franchetti's own style is recognisable in each of his wines and with each vintage. The 2020 vintage was the first to be given an additional year of bottle ageing before being released for sale.
This dark, full and concentrated red wine already shows a good deal of its potential on the nose and the ripe, fruit-driven appeal that has characterised it for years and helped it achieve world fame. On the palate, the flavours range from deep, dark fruit to spices, mahogany and grilled herbs. The texture is tapered, well-proportioned and ethereal. The fruity verve and the opulent concert of flavours are guided by highly elegant tannins into an almost endless finish. Monumental, but not a monster. Powerful, but not a muscleman - everything is in the right place here. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Tenuta di Trinoro 2020 is sensual and racy, but also not as opulent as it could be. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Sweet floral, spicy and savoury top notes meld with a core of dark fruit. Overall, the 2020 comes across as a smaller, slightly leaner Tenuta that will probably drink well early on as the flavours are still developing. Pretty floral and spicy notes lift the finish nicely. This is a classy Tenuta." Vinous
"Balsamic, ripe and fresh, with a beautiful abundance of black berries and black cherries, with notes of cream, cocoa, wood, spices and cola. It is very structured and already complex, showing a slightly fresher character than the 2019, with a delicious juiciness on the mid-palate and crisp acidity. It has the potential to become a great Trinoro in the future." Decanter
"On the nose, rich, sweet aromas of cherries and figs draw balance from sharper undertones of graphite, fennel, orange peel and clove. A smear of marmalade across the palate underscores the fruitiness, which stays bright and juicy through the finish, but a dark chocolate undertone provides gravitas." Wine Enthusiast
"So fragrant of violets and lavender with some blackcurrant. Medium to full-bodied with lustre and finesse. Racy and fine. Finesse with verve. Very elegant and straightforward with a racy texture. Very long and slightly angular." James Suckling
"The initial shyness develops into youthful bravado after a little aeration; the nose is dominated by Cabernet Franc with its berry and plum aromas, undergrowth, notes of fresh flowers and spices; then the attack is powerful, the tannins are extremely velvety and fine-grained, the finish is long and full of elegance despite all the power. Needs to mature." Vinum
"The 2020 vintage is certainly more open, but offers a very special view of Cabernet Franc in particular. The lush softness of the black cherry of the Merlot is magically combined with the dark intensity and tannic power of the Cabernet Franc. The ripeness of the fruit is impeccable, there are neither green tones nor overripe nuances. Everything is balanced." Wine Advocate
"Dark ruby red with violet. Initially fine stony notes on the nose, precious wood, incense, then dark berry fruit, cassis, fine mint on the finish. Densely woven on the palate, creamy, oily, with notes of ripe raspberries, comes in many layers, savoury, great juiciness, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"One of the mythological products of national viticulture, a Bordeaux with a predominance of Cabernet Franc, then Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Petit Verdot. Redcurrant on the nose, a hint of laurel and liquorice powder, salty and acidic tannins, incredible persistence." Luca Gardini

“Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
"Sassicaia really was our house wine back then," says Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, daughter of the president of San Guido, Marquis Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta. "It was more of a wine experiment that was only tested within the family and among friends, until we went on the market for the first time with the 1968 vintage. Today, this wine is all about elegance and balance. We like this style, which is not so much about the body. Sassicaia is a good representative of what we want to convey as a style."
Enough of the elegant understatement: Sassicaia 2021 is stunning and beguiling. Very elegant on the nose, it displays energy and character of a decidedly noble and fascinatingly spicy nature. Notes of wild violets mingle with original myrtle, juniper berries and coriander. The core of the wine is rich with nuances of black plums, dark tea leaves and cloves. Full-bodied, soft and enveloping on the palate, it displays perfectly ripe, noble tannins and a truly exciting finish that ignites from mid-palate and draws a progressive, ascending parabola as it progresses. A great wine from a great 2021 vintage that has added an extra dimension of freshness and precision to arguably Italy's best red wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex bouquet with rich cassis and wild berry fruit, earthy-tobacco and liquorice notes, with wonderful truffle and tobacco notes. Very dense on the palate, but also tightly meshed, you can feel the maturity of the vintage, but the wine remains tightly meshed and elegant throughout, almost virtuoso with delicate hints, the almost perfect tannin is grippy and silky. This will be a long-distance runner. An exciting Sassicaia that could even reach the dream score with maturity." Weinwisser
"Brilliant ruby with a delicately brightening rim. A nose to fall in love with: Smells initially of roses, then of cassis, dark cherries and a little cardamom. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, opens with well-integrated, fine-meshed tannins, savoury and endlessly long." Falstaff
"Medium to dark crimson, but no attempt to break any records for colour intensity. Much more subtle nose than most - no obvious sweetness and certainly no oak. Spicy and savoury and introverted. Everything is geared towards longevity. Bone-dry finish. Very different from the Ornellaia! Well-groomed, self-confident and unobtrusive. But so balanced and appetising that I enjoyed it!" Jancis Robinson
"Very stylish and typical of Sassicaia with blackcurrant, tobacco, chocolate, sage and lavender on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with very integrated and refined tannins that are caressing and pretty, with a lovely length and beauty. Such finesse and structure at the same time. Best from 2028 and beyond, but a joy to taste now." James Suckling
"Comforting and luxurious on the nose, though initially restrained, like hot coffee with a slice of warm berry pie, then suddenly more serious, with aromas of leather-bound books and crisp autumn air. The palate is full of berries, but also vibrant acids, and the tannins feel like a silky fabric, strong and supple, tightly stitched and flowing in an endless finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Rich yet elegant, with aromas and flavours of black cherries, blackberries, cedar, minerals and oak spice, this resonant red wine builds to a long, detailed finish. It shows great balance, with lively acidity and refined tannins, but will benefit from a few more years of ageing." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Sassicaia is one of the best young Sassicaias I can remember tasting, certainly on a par with any recent wine. Sassicaia is more a wine of refinement than opulence. During a long growing season, all the elements came together to produce a rich, deep wine that combines textural intensity with classicism. Dark cherry and plum fruit, spice, new leather, menthol, liquorice and spice race across the palate. After some time in the glass, the intensity of the texture and the sheer power of the wine come to the fore. The 2021 is one of the most concentrated Sassicaias ever made. In a word: great." Vinous
"Rich aromas of dark fruits and herbs are infused with blueberry and petrichor, leading to an intense and vertical palate that is super-fresh with a delightfully airy, savoury character. Textured, integrated tannins emphasise Sassicaia's finesse and show just a hint of youthful dustiness. Spicy, bright black, blue and red berry fruit overlay underlying notes of dark chocolate and forest undergrowth with remarkable precision, with pomegranate and a stony minerality emerging on the mid-palate. The 2021 shows a wonderful richness of fruit with the characteristic freshness and lightness of step and finishes long and balanced. Outstanding." Decanter
"Here it is: a quintessential Sassicaia that represents the excellence of the vintage while respecting the unique flavour profile of this outstanding Tuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc. The Tenuta San Guido 2021 Bolgheri Sassicaia offers impeccable balance, excellent freshness and absolutely no signs of over-ripeness. The fruit balance is ideal, with a hint of crispness and lingering tension from the flesh and skin. The tannins are skilfully handled, with a firm grip and enough velvety texture to give volume and length. The bouquet is not green, instead offering mulled wine herbs and spices such as cinnamon and cloves delicately layered between the mostly red and some purple berry fruit. Redcurrant, blueberry, sweet pomegranate and Rainier cherry are strongly represented in this vintage. Over time, a fragrant hint of heritage rose unfolds. The oak tones are centred on gingerbread, hazelnut, cigar, sandalwood and something like grilled red pepper. On the palate, it offers a nice weight without heavy glycerin and an acidity flush that supports the wine's natural energy, brightness and viscosity. This pronounced freshness gives the wine a long ageing potential, but it needs to be given more time in the bottle." Wine Advocate

Giacosa's Barolo Le Rocche is only vinified in the best vintages as Riserva (red label) and has a magical attraction for Nebbiolo lovers all over the world.
The vintage 2014, which has just been released, is once again a 360° beauty with impressive intensity and complexity. This wine never seems heavy or flat, but with its indescribable elegance it once again sets the benchmark in Piedmontese viticulture. Its energy carries it into spheres that have no equal. A cornucopia of rose petals, exotic spices, truffles and undergrowth leaves a unique fingerprint even before the almost endless finish, as only Giacosa's Riserva can do. SUPERIORE.DE
"Giacosa's Riservas are among the most prized wines in Piedmont, and even in this difficult vintage the property made an outstanding wine from this vineyard in Serralunga. As always, the nose is incredibly perfumed, showing ripe raspberry fruit but also violets. The purity and poise are remarkable. There's a fine attack, ample concentration of course, and polished tannins balanced by fine acidity. It's taut and refined yet has remarkable volume for 2014 and excellent length." Decanter
"This is lean, taut and expressive, with rose, cherry, white pepper and mint flavors allied to the steely structure. Leaves a chalky impression on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"This red label Riserva was made in 2012 and 2014 and will be released in 2016 and 2017. Bruna Giacosa and her team skipped over 2013 and 2015. However, the current release is the 2014 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, and well, there's a lot to take in. Simply put, this is a beautiful wine that unfolds slowly with amazing intensity and complexity, delivering delicate notes of violets and candied orange peel that cede softly to darker tones of licorice, dried blackberry and savory spice. Give the wine the time it needs to open in the glass. This vintage flaunts its most elegant side, with fine tannins and soft fruity fiber that remains everlasting and pure. This estate is known for taking its biggest chances in the so-called off vintages. Betting on 2014 has turned out to be a brilliantly contemplated move." Wine Advocate
"The aromas are so seductive with dried roses and berries. Tar and asphalt, too. Full bodied, very tight and powerful. Lean and long tannins. It goes on for so long. Stops and then starts over again. A curious and challenging young wine. Great." James Suckling

Rare vertical in high quality wooden box of 6: Exclusive and strictly limited selection of the historic vintages 2010, 2011 and 2012 of one of Bolgheri's most famous wines. Also included is the anniversary vintage 2010 with special label "25 anni".
2 bottles à 0,75l | "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2010
Elegant, finesse-rich 2010 and thus the 25th edition of this cult classic with anniversary label: Complex, racy and delicately floral aroma of fully ripe cherries and black berries with noble, excellently integrated wood aromas. The tremendously harmonious taste reveals an impeccable fruit, dense, juicy and powerful, with melting, present tannins and ends in a decidedly powerful, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, impenetrable ruby with violet glints. Opens with discreet spicy notes, after tobacco, then lots of rich cassis notes, some elderberries. Shows a lot of fine, sturdy tannin on the palate, builds up in layers, deep and salty, long final and rich pressure, lots of tobacco." Falstaff
"The Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia 2010 bottled from the anniversary bottle is a truly outstanding wine that leaves a lasting memory for those lucky enough to enjoy it. What stands out is the absolutely seamless, seamless, seamless (yes, it's worth repeating three times) integration of its many moving parts. The wine magically shifts between cherry, spice, chocolate and espresso in a melodic and continuous loop. It exudes balance and elegance over long, delicious minutes. It is deeply impressive." Wine Advocate
"One of the highlights of the vintage on the Tuscan coast, the 2010 Ornellaia is stunning. The 2010 is a tightly wound, powerful wine that will need a few more years in the cellar to show the full range of its potential and class. Yet it is impossible to miss the pure pedigree and class of this wine. Fresh cut flowers, mocha, tobacco, grilled herbs and plums pour from the glass in this wonderfully layered, polished Ornellaia. The 2010 is vibrant, nuanced and precise from start to finish. I am curious to see how it will develop over the next few years. Today, the 2010 is all about precision, liveliness and saline energy. I really like how the wine continues to open up in the glass." Vinous

Marked by sunshine, the early 2011 vintage expresses its characteristics at the highest level. It presents itself to the eye with a young and intense colour. The nose registers intense, fully ripe and at the same time fresh and vibrant fruit aromas, which are underpinned by delicate balsamic hints and toasted notes. On the palate, its great concentration is striking, accompanied by an impressive but also velvety and polished tannic structure, allowing it to fully expand in the mouth without leaving a feeling of heaviness. On the finish, balsamic and spicy tones and a welcome note of freshness linger for a long time. Ornellaia 2011 is an awe-inspiring masterpiece. Depth, richness, elegance, ultra-fine tannins, lots of potential, but already a great drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, impenetrable ruby violet. Initially shows emphatic mineral notes, then lots of ripe dark currants, some blueberries, behind that rich liquorice and dark chocolate. Fills the palate powerfully, very dense, compact tannin, lots of tobacco, cassis full, profound, reverberates like noble cigars, very long." Falstaff
"This wine shows incredible concentration with aromas of dark berries, dark chocolate, mint and rosemary. Full-bodied with excellent depth of fruit and polished tannins. It is chewy but flattering. This wine needs at least four or five years to mature. Powerful and intense. Yet it remains fresh and bright." James Suckling
"The 2011 Ornellaia is another great wine. Mocha, plums, tobacco and liquorice blossom in the glass in a rich, seamless wine that has amazing depth. Later, spicy notes develop, giving it depth and resonance." Vinous
"A dark, inky red with aromas and flavours of violets, blackcurrants, cedar, sandalwood and iron. Yet it comes across as elegant, even if the tannins on the finish prove to be substantial. A great young wine in development." Wine Spectator

The 2012 vintage is an awe-inspiring masterpiece. Depth, richness, elegance, ultra-fine tannins, lots of potential, but already a great drinking pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"2012 was a sunny and predominantly dry year. The rains came just in time before the harvest, allowing the vines to recover wonderfully from the drought and excessive heat and to ripen homogeneously. The wines are wide and generous, their character highly seductive and flattering, not to say enchanting. Ornellaia 2012 presents itself in a rich ruby red, the intense nose is wonderfully fruity and spicy. On the palate, it reveals itself to be wide and round, without rough edges, with smooth tannins. Of course, 2012 does not lack the proverbial concentration that characterises all great Ornellaia vintages; but this vintage hides it behind a generous and lush structure and finishes with a long final." Axel Heinz, Kellermeister
"Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate water edge. Black berries, cassis and liquorice, candied violets, mineral touch, fine noble wood note. Complex, taut, fine nougat, present, carrying tannin that still needs a lot of time, dark berry fruit in the finish, mineral, please wait ..." Falstaff
"This seamless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (7%) shows some of the roundness and softness of this summer heat. The density and extraction of the wine are spot on and the bouquet is beautifully characterised by dark cherry nuances with spices, leather and tobacco in the background. There is a lovely sense of richness and fullness here." Wine Advocate
"The 2012 Ornellaia has gained quite a bit of weight since I first tasted it from the bottle a few months ago. Rich, powerful and concentrated, the 2012 offers plenty of depth and intensity, with expressive fruit and striking intensity on the mid-palate. Aromas of dark red cherry jam, wild flowers, liquorice, smoke, tobacco and mint blossom emerge in the glass. The tannin is slightly dry, a sign of a year in which the maturation took place in spurts. It will be interesting to see if this note softens with time." Vinous
"A dense and silky red wine with a compact fruit and tannin structure reminiscent of blackcurrants, mushrooms and bark. Full body, firm tannins and a mineral finish. Excellent structure and mouthfeel. A cooler style of Ornellaia that takes it back to the classics of this famous region." James Suckling

Giacosa's Barolo Vigna Le Rocche is only vinified in the best vintages as a Riserva (red label) and has a magical attraction for Nebbiolo lovers all over the world.
Barolo Falletto Vigne Le Rocche Riserva demands attention and respect. The wine opens with a dark and penetrating colour and an immediately expressive bouquet from which rise dense layers of dark fruits, ferruginous earth, balsamic herbs, Darjeeling tea, dried ginger and cherry cola. The wine successfully and magically turns the tables on the over-exuberance of the warm 2017 vintage and the natural weight of the highest site in Serralunga d'Alba. It succeeds brilliantly in restraining all that power and transforming it instead into streamlined elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"This supple red wine is elegant and powerful, driven by an underlying mineral element. Aromas and flavours of strawberries, cherries, roses, iron and wild thyme linger and develop into a long aftertaste, while dense, refined tannins offer support. It offers excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"This year's top-end release from Bruno Giacosa is the 2017 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche (in the red label). Bottled in 2019, the wine stands apart thanks to a hot and dry growing season that Bruna Giacosa is very excited about. In fact, she prefers 2017 to 2015, although the two vintages do share similarities. This wine is very open-knit, and it reveals dark concentration in the form of ripe blackberry, candied cherry and spice. The tannins show a loose, granular quality that adds considerably to the textural impact of this Riserva." Wine Advocate
"Roses and lavender with other flowers. Peaches. Lovely fruit of dark plums and ripe strawberries. Dense and intense, but with layers of very fine tannins, like fine cashmere. Lasts for minutes. Opens up in the mouth. Almost endless. Give this wine at least five to six years." James Suckling
