“Stilèma” Fiano di Avellino Riserva DOCG 2019 · 6 bottles in OWC
"The Stilèma project was created as a testimony to Antonio Mastroberardino's love for his land, his vines and his wines, and their original character." Piero Mastroberardino
The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. The Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the indigenous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the late 1950s and early 1970s for the Taurasi and between 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and that today impressively emphasises the genuine character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed through high concentration and intensity alone.
Pale straw yellow in colour with light green reflections. The 24 months of ageing on the lees of this exceptional Fiano creates a fascinating balance and complexity in the aroma profile with classic hints of flint, fine saltiness, the scent of fresh almonds, cedar wood and wild herbs. The flavour is lively with a pronounced mineral note, accompanied by an inspiring freshness that gives it great drinking flow and finesse. The precise and very long finish is also extremely convincing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Proof of the grape variety's ageing potential: On the nose, fresh hay and apple notes, including mint, are captivating; in the mouth, the wine is acidic and fresh with a fine salty minerality and a precise evolution towards citrus and apple notes." Vinum
"This slight hint of initial reduction fades to reveal soft citrus, exotic fruit, white peach and pear. The wine's flinty minerality is well defined. The fruit comes from four vineyards and the wine is mostly aged in stainless steel." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Fiano di Avellino Riserva Stilema is aromatically intense, with a burst of ground ginger, cumin, incense and crushed green apples. It's a seductress, with a sweet burst of ripe fruit on the attack that is quickly contrasted by lemon zest and vibrant acidity. As well as being incredibly fresh, the 2019 is also incredibly long, finishing with a sense of liquid stone and a pleasant bitter note that calls me back to the glass for more." Vinous
"A fresh Fiano with aromas of honeysuckle, flint, oyster shells and green pear, which fade into a medium body, a creamy texture and a fruity finish. Slightly salty on the finish." James Suckling
"A masterful, intense and complex pure Fiano. Beautiful profile on the nose, lychee, a hint of pink grapefruit and pineapple, with a finish of herbs, thyme and a hint of jasmine. Dense, iodised mouthfeel, lovely depth, with a return of exotic fruit." Luca Gardini
"The nose is sweet yet structured, thoughtful and almost wistful, with notes of vanilla, pear, yellow apple, lemon, dried pineapple and almond paste. On the elegant, equally compelling palate, a more intense lemon element swirls around fresher pineapple notes and emerging melon flavours before a toasted almond finish follows. The bright acidity adds a subtle sizzle to the overall silky mouthfeel." Wine Enthusiast

“Stilèma” Greco di Tufo Riserva DOCG 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
"The Stilèma project was born as a testimony of Antonio Mastroberardino's love for his land, his vines and his wines, for their original character." Piero Mastroberardino
The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. In this way, the Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the autochthonous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1970s of the twentieth century for the Taurasi and between the years 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and today impressively highlights the genuine character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed by high concentration and intensity alone.
Stilèma Greco di Tufo Riserva is a blend of grapes from the Montefusco, Tufo and Petruro Irpino vineyards. During the cellar processes, special attention was paid to the malolactic fermentation and the ageing phase, which give the wine density and consistency. Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, notes of ripe fruit, lychee and grapefruit, yellow flowers, dried fruit and figs. Powerful but agile taste with a pronounced salty note, accompanied by a surprising freshness that gives it drinkability and finesse. It closes with a subtle and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich straw yellow with greenish reflections. In the nose of tropical fruits, lychee and grapefruit, in the aftertaste iodine, flint and slightly herbal, very complex. On the palate filigree, very salty and fresh, drinky, with draught, long and mineral final." Falstaff
"The 2018 Greco di Tufo Riserva Stilèma is rich and sweet-smelling, captivating with a tropical blend of green melon and exotic flowers. On the palate, it flows with a medium-weight texture that feels silky and shows mineral fruit and savoury spices. The 2018 finishes with admirable depth and concentration, ending with a saline feel and notes of lime and liquid stones. While enjoyable, this wine is still very young and needs further ageing to reveal its hidden charms." Vinous
"Peach-stained pinewood notes at first, developing to more clearly defined fresh white grapes, yellow peaches and minerals on the palate. Medium- to full-bodied, bright and focused. An interesting and refined Greco." James Suckling
"Here is a new wine from Mastroberardino, and what a charming beauty it is. The 2018 Greco di Tufo Riserva Stiléma takes advantage of the new "Riserva" status and offers us a glimpse into the age-worthiness of Greco. It is a white wine with a soft texture and medium-weight approach. The bouquet shows a filigree of lemon curd, pastry cream, saffron and wet stone." Wine Advocate

“Vigna Sassorosso” Grumello Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
The "Sassorosso" vineyard is located on a rocky promontory that is separated from the rest of the mountain and has been almost completely eroded by the glacier over the centuries. It is visually characterised by the unmistakable red colour of the ferrous inclusions in the rock. The overlying shallow soil layer consists of clay and sand and lies on friable, metamorphic rock into which the roots can penetrate. The unmistakably elegant and mineral character of the terroir is therefore particularly evident in this Nebbiolo.
Bright, transparent ruby red colour with a fine garnet hue. Small red fruits such as blackberry, redcurrant, cherry and raspberry on the nose, complemented by fresh, floral notes of violets and roses. Dense on the palate with a very flavourful attack, silky tannins and an almost endless finish. A wine of great rigour and purity with considerable ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby with garnet-red tendencies. Medium intensity on the nose with hints of wild raspberry and redcurrant, followed by floral and earthy notes. Clearer on the palate with fresh fruit, tightly woven tannins, fresh and juicy through to the finish." Falstaff
"This is minerally and enticing on the nose, but then a burst of ripe black raspberry, cherry and strawberry fruit flavors on the palate offers its own appeal. The creamy tannins provide fine, supple structure, while hints of fig cake, smoke and bay leaf are fragrant and lingering on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Valtellina Superiore Grumello Sassorosso reveals hints of iron ore, rusty nail, redcurrant and pressed rose. This wine reflects the earthy quality of Grumello. There is a brief moment of apricot-like sweetness on the mid-palate that transitions over to a tart flavor of wild plum or blood orange. The vintage warmth is felt in the silky nature of the mouthfeel and the wine's soft tannins. There are no rough spots here, and this has the most determined character among these new releases from Nino Negri." Wine Advocate

“Vigna Oberkerschbaum” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
In South Tyrol, the "Vigna" classification guarantees the origin of a single-vineyard wine. This Sauvignon is a selection of the best grapes from the Oberkerschbaum estate in Buchholz/Salorno at an altitude of around 800 metres. Thanks to the special microclimate, the ideal orientation and the challenging altitude, the Oberkerschbaum estate is one of the most exciting cru sites for South Tyrolean Sauvignon.
Intense straw yellow colour with delicate greenish reflections. Aromas of ripe citrus fruits, grapefruit and bergamot mingle with delicate scents of flint and nettle. This fruitiness continues on the palate - Oberkerschbaum is a Sauvignon of harmonious complexity which, despite its racy acidity, never seems too lean and completely convinces us with its aromatic length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wildly unique, the 2021 Sauvignon Vigna Oberkerschbaum opens with a beguiling blend of rosemary, split pine and grapefruit zests, giving way to green melon. This is lifted and graceful, gliding across the palate with a saline-tinged blend of tart orchard fruits. A savory herbal thrust adds complexity toward the close. Mineral intense, this leaves the senses completely refreshed, finishing with medium length yet impactful. The Oberkerschbaum hails from a vineyard between 740 and 800 meters, and its high elevation comes through in spades." Vinous

“Vigna Ca' Guicciardi” Inferno Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
The "Ca' Guicciardi" vineyard takes its name from the farmhouse that lies at its centre. The single vineyard is characterised by small, very steep valleys. Impressive rock faces alternate with terraces supported by some of the highest dry stone walls in Valtellina. The special colour of the rock, which tends towards a quartz-like white, considerably enhances the power of the sun and leads to higher temperatures and more light here than in other parts of the valley.
Vigna Ca' Guicciardi has an intense, bright ruby red colour, pronounced aromas of ripe red fruit with predominant notes of black cherry, blackcurrant and spices, with hints of liquorice, cloves and cinnamon in the background. Soft and full on the palate, without appearing broad or denying its Alpine origins. You can't help but compare it to a complex Burgundy, its round tannins and wonderful depth and length round off the experience in a well-proportioned and highly elegant way. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Valtellina Superiore Inferno Ca' Guicciardi shows a little more ripeness, just a little, which is expressed with strawberry jam, wilted blue flowers, crushed slate and spicy pepper. The Inferno sub-region is known for its warmth, hence the name "Inferno". The mouthfeel is polished, lean and soft." Wine Advocate
"A lovely, harmonious red, expanding with silky finesse on the palate to reveal flavors of cherry coulis, warm fig and red licorice, with a sanguine thread of iron, smoke and spices. Long and supple, with good focus, though only medium-bodied in weight. Lightly chewy on the fragrant, herb-laced finish." Wine Spectator

“Cresasso” Corvina Veronese IGT 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Cresasso - an exquisite, single-varietal Corvina. Intense aromas of dark fruit, rose petals and spices. Rich, concentrated fruit on the palate, silky, with a remarkable inner sweetness. Distinctive and sensual. SUPERIORE.DE
"Notes of plum sauce and raspberry ripple across the palate, underscored by loamy earth and mineral accents in this medium-bodied red, which is firmed by lightly chewy tannins. A well-meshed version, with hints of warm spices, cocoa powder and medicinal herbs on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Dark and intense, the 2018 Corvina Veronese Cresasso smolders up with an array of crushed ashen stone, dried flowers, licorice and dusty black currants. It sweeps across the palate with textures of pure silk, elegant and refined, as a wave of polished red and black fruits washes across. A collection of crunchy minerals amasses toward the close. Violet inner florals and hints of lavender drive the finish, as a tinge of sour citrus adds contrast and sweet tannins resonate. I expect the 2018 Cresasso to enjoy a long and broad drinking window. Bravo." Vinous

“Vigna S. Francesco” Cabernet Sauvignon Sicilia DOC 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
A wonderfully concentrated and elegant wine that is already drinking excellently. On the nose, the typical varietal bouquet with light balsamic notes. Pleasantly straight and fine on the palate, silky and full of harmony. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. In the nose precise of elderberries and cassis, noble note of green pepper and a hint of ivy, in the reverberation of cranberry jam and noble spice, multilayered. Balanced on the palate, with great play between fruit, spice and tannin, also very juicy, on anise in the finish, long and complex, very well done." Falstaff
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Vigna San Francesco is dusty and floral in character, with peppery herbs and wildflowers giving way to masses of crushed raspberry. This is silky and refined, communicating pure elegance from the start, with a wave of ripe red and black berries that wash across the palate, leaving fine-grained tannins to linger under an air of sweet violet and rose tones. It tapers off much fresher than anticipated, and also only lightly structured, as nuances of blueberry skin linger, along with a hint of balsam herbs." Vinous

Beautiful Amarone Riserva with well-proportioned flavours of ripe dark fruit and noble notes of leather, spices and sweet tobacco. It is dense and full-bodied with remarkable depth, breadth and purity on the palate. An opulent wine with a long and very harmonious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Acute aromas of dried cherries and berries, with spicy and earthy, nutty notes. Full-bodied with a regal structure of velvety fruit and oak tannin, supporting plenty of spicy dried-fruit flavor. “Vigna Fracia” Valgella Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2019 · 6 bottles in OWC
The "Fracia" vineyard has belonged to Nino Negri since it was founded in 1897. It lies at the confluence of several alpine valleys and the vegetation in this area is almost Mediterranean with lavender and rosemary. The result is a wine that is flavoursome and flowery with a characteristic, spicy aroma.
Intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Complex aromas of dog rose and violets on the nose, which develop into spicy notes such as rosemary and lavender. Dense, rich and with well-structured tannins on the palate. The well-balanced and fresh acidity leads to a long, very flavoursome finish. An alpine red that is already a pleasure to drink, but its complexity and power will really come to the fore with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour. Elegant hints of honey, rosehip and strawberries on the nose, some sage, peach, cold smoke. Beautifully polished and fresh on the palate, elegant, slightly creamy fruit, delicately flowing, fine pressure on the finish." Falstaff
"Raspberries, damp earth, herbs and orange peel on the nose. Medium-bodied with dusty tannins and an attractive minerality. Firm and persistent. Drink or store." James Suckling
"The Nino Negri 2019 Valtellina Superiore Valgella Vigna Fracia shows a bright ruby red colour, and although the bouquet is not as expressive as some of its peers, it opens slowly with notes of cassis, dried orange peel and sweet nectarine. The bouquet is characterised by red berries, fruit and a hint of wild roses and mountain flowers. It is delicate and light in texture. This wine is packaged in a bottle with a greenish-grey label that reflects the slate soils of Valgella. Give it a little more time in the bottle." Wine Advocate
"Firm and chewy, this compact red opens in the glass, offering a tarry undertow, with flavors of baked cherry, medicinal herbs and white pepper, plus a touch of black licorice. Long and minerally on the finish." Wine Spectator

“Giovin Re” Bianco di Toscana IGT 2023 · 6 bottles in OWC
Michele Satta is one of Italy's greatest ambassadors for the Viognier grape, which he has almost single-handedly brought to this part of the Tuscan coast. His Viognier is sophisticated and seductive, making it the object of desire for wine lovers all over the world. Its inimitable bouquet of apricot and peach exudes an almost cheerful floweriness. Maturation in a combination of cement, oak and amphorae gives this expressive, flavoursome white wine a beautiful note. A dense white wine that spreads out softly on the palate with a lovely salty freshness and a long, delicious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright light gold with straw yellow colour. Smells very fine on the nose of exotic fruits, rich lemons, plus a light muscat note, banana. Racy acidity on the palate, with present fruit, brisk, precise, really great Viognier!" Falstaff

“Olmaia” Cabernet Sauvignon Sant’Antimo DOC 2016 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Beautifully matured Cabernet Sauvignon that underlines its rich, fleshy fruit with graphite and liquorice aromas. Its broad, full and balanced flavour, polished tannins and fruity, elegant style build up to a long, balsamic finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with a brightening rim. On the nose, rich pepper, cassis, cranberry, leather and undergrowth. Hearty and impetuous on the palate, stretches very powerfully across the tongue, gripping, with rich pressure, a balsamic touch and minimal dryness on the finish." Falstaff
"A vibrant, concentrated red, offering black cherry, black currant, iron, tobacco and spice aromas and flavors. Though dense, this is also fluid, with excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Olmaia has developed into a brand in its own right. The wine emphasises the potential of Cabernet Sauvignon in this part of Tuscany, an area where Sangiovese is grown almost exclusively. The 2016 Sant'Antimo Cabernet Olmaia reminds us of the importance of diversity in a monoculture, which allows us to better understand the potential of a growing area. This wine has a dark colour and a dense concentration of colour. It is certainly broad and full-bodied, but it transcends the senses with nuanced grace. Black and purple fruits segue into earthy tobacco, cured leather and dark spices. These flavours are particularly finely tuned in this classic vintage." Wine Advocate

The third vintage of Dievoles Gran Selezione presents itself dark, deep and with wonderfully powerful cherry and blackberry notes. The palate is very defined and precise with an archetypal interpretation of the grape variety. Everything is in the right place here, the balance and clarity impressing with every sip. The finish is of terrificlength and depth. This is Sangiovese at its purest, with endless energy and expression. SUPERIORE.DE
"Stylish bouquet of red berries and flowers; juicy on the palate, the tannic acid framework balanced, engaging evolution with polish and fresh fruit but also perfectly placed balsamic nuances through to the final." Vinum
"Fresh red fruit and a hint of mint, spice and tea on the nose. Refined palate with lots of powdery tannins giving texture and frame. Clean finish with a salty touch." Decanter
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina shows a streamlined personality with pinpoint aromas of wild berries, forest floor and dried blackberries. This wine is vertical, focused and even a little edgy in personality thanks to its firm tannins and fresh acidity. There is a brief ripeness in the mid-palate, but overall the wine is very balanced." Wine Advocate
"Bright aromas of flowers, citrus, strawberries and cherries follow a full body with bright, very lively tannins and zesty acidity. Energetic on the finish. Very clean and bright. A wine for the cellar, although it is already drinking wonderfully." James Suckling
"Pervasive aromas recall cherry, raspberry, iron and sage in this red wine, while rich fruit flavours balance a backbone of assertive tannins. It reverberates from start to finish, ending with a long aftertaste of fruit, earth and tobacco. Still firm, but harmonious overall." Wine Spectator

"Seems a little cheesy with its "sugary" fruit and sweetness, but can please with the juicy vein and the robust tannin as well as the fine acidity and lets the wood resonate skilfully in the background." Weinwisser
"From a vineyard 420 metres above sea level: profound bouquet of red berries, lilacs and herbs; juicy on the palate, beautifully polished, supple tannins and crisp acidity, fruity and spicy finish. Successful." Vinum
"Medium ruby red with first orange-coloured reflections. A little dusty, probably from the oak, with shy, fragrant raspberry fruit underneath. With aeration, the nose becomes finer and more concentrated, with a hint of iron. The palate is elegant and delicate, with plenty of freshness." Jancis Robinson
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Sessina 2019 comes from a one-hectare parcel with a mixture of clay and rock. Cured meat, lavender, spices, dried herbs and sweet tobacco lend the distinctive bouquet a beguiling complexity. The 2019 has a medium body, remarkable structural depth and the necessary structure to age." Vinous
"Sessina is a 5.5-hectare, south-facing vineyard on Macigno (sandstone soil), but with a limestone vein running through it. It shines in the fresh 2019 vintage - it is the best bottling of this wine that I have tasted. It has a lively aroma of mint, sage and a hint of chocolate. The dark plum core is ripe yet crisp, with tannins that are gently textured and grip in all the right places. Refined and elegant, but not without depth, it offers a tantalising interplay of warm Mediterranean balsamic notes with cooler forest tones. Delicious." Decanter
"Polished and pretty nose of dried flowers, cloves, mocha, dried cherries and chocolate orange. It is medium-bodied with firm tannins. Beautiful freshness and balance, with a long and elegant finish." James Suckling
"The organic Dievole 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna di Sessina is a true beauty, offering elegance and power in two ways in this vintage. There are plenty of black fruit flavours that delicately fade into crushed stone, spices and grilled herbs. The winery opts for fermentation in cement and rapid ageing in oak for about a year. These steps ensure intact primary aromas and the wine is characterised by energy and lively flavours." Wine Advocate
"Featuring strawberry, cherry, rose and mineral aromas and flavors, this pretty red is firmly structured, closing up on the tightly wound finish. Nonetheless, there's plenty of fruit, and this is super long on the aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Solosole Pagus Camilla” Bianco Bolgheri DOC 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino and Petit Manseng grapes experience greater concentration and complexity during the ripening process. This "project wine", produced in very small quantities, is a unique example of the potential for white wines from Bolgheri. Pure, deep and beautiful, citrus flavours, salt, minerality and with full, creamy fruit, balanced, long and with very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense, sparkling lemon yellow colour. Elegant on the nose, with fine woody spice, ripe yellow fruit and a slightly buttery finish. Expansive on the palate, with a strong presence, fine fruit flavour and pronounced length." Falstaff
"This has a perfumed and complex nose of grapefruits, star fruit, rosemary, white pepper, nutmeg, peaches, dried flowers and cumin. It’s medium- to full-bodied with an oily texture. Layers of tropical fruit and spice, all held together by a zesty freshness. Fantastic Vermentino." James Suckling

“Montalupa” Rosso Langhe DOC 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Matteo Ascheri is fascinated by the grape varieties of the Rhône Valley and produces an extremely small quantity of top-class single-varietal Syrah every year. What is also special about this wine is that it is not a stereotypical example of the well-known great Syrahs from California, France and Australia - quite the opposite: this is a balsamic wine with an intense bouquet of cherry, rosemary and traces of ginger. On the palate, it shines with freshness, intensity and an exciting potpourri of teriyaki spice, smoke, cherry and notes of smoked meat. Its impressive texture and a full, long finish make this Syrah experience unforgettable! SUPERIORE.DE

“Petruna Anfora” Sangiovese Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2018 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Just like its equally famous neighbour Fattoria Petrolo (with its Boggina A), Il Borro can also convince us with a red wine aged in amphorae. Petruna is a single-varietal Sangiovese that is fermented with 12 months of skin contact in hermetically sealed amphorae. The result is surprising, not in the sense of an "interesting" experimental wine, but because the typical character of Sangiovese is fully expressed in freshness, fruit and energy. The bouquet is dominated by cherry and small red berries, plus some orange zest. Its body is of medium weight, which makes it an excellent food companion. Its fresh acidity and a tangle of fine tannins increase the drinking pleasure enormously. We can say that the experiment was successful in an elegant way. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Valdarno di Sopra Petruna Sangiovese in Anfora is fresh and vibrant in the glass, with a wild display of zesty red berries, sweet spice and peppery herbs. On the palate, soft textures are firmed up by brisk acids, ushering in notes of raspberry and cherry, while tugging at the cheeks with grippy tannins, yet still so lively. The finish is medium in length with a salty twang of minerality, as inner florals slowly taper off. This 100% Sangiovese is aged in Anfora and really shows the worth of this revitalized yet ancient technique of winemaking. Very nice." Vinous
"This is another exciting wine from Il Borro that is now back in the Valdarno di Sopra appellation. The 2018 Valdarno di Sopra Sangiovese in Anfora Petruna is the Ferragamo family's amphorae-based wine, created as a way of showcasing the purity and sharpness of Sangiovese from this tiny, new and exciting appellation. This is a wine of character, showing the pure forest berry, bitter almond and earthy aromas that are associated with the grape. You also get some clay and terracotta from the hands-off winemaking process. You could pair this wine with a lasagna rich in cheese, because the acidity of the grape is ever-present to clean your palate." Wine Advocate
"Extremely floral with sweet cherries, as well as flowers and hints of mushrooms. Medium to full body with a lovely, creamy texture that seems so pinot noir-like. But this is sangiovese from a single vineyard, aged in amphora for one year. No wood here. Love the finish." James Suckling

“Cerdena” Vermentino di Sardegna DOC 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
Bright golden yellow colour and a creamy bouquet of exotic fruits, banana and almond. The fruit is finely balanced with the barrique tones. Soft, warm and dense on the palate, with wonderful freshness, structure and suppleness. Good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very minerally profile for a vermentino. On the nose are notes of brooms, salted peaches, pineapple and seaweed with a peaty touch. The attack is super savory, with a dense and weighted palate, a medium body and refreshing acidity. The toasted finish is integrated, with complex notes of cheese and candied fruit. A classy wine." “Campo San Giorgio” Rosso Conero Riserva DOCG 2017 · 6 bottles in OWC
The Montepulciano vines for this powerful and terroir-rich Montepulciano grow on the Campo San Giorgio vineyard at an altitude of about 150 m on deep, chalky clay soils. The wine is unfiltered and unfined and matures for 12 months in small and large wooden barrels. The label represents the historic design of the Rosso Conero of the 1970s and the impressive result is the calling card of a long family tradition and expertise in viticulture.
Deep dark ruby red with violet and garnet reflections. Very expressive on the nose with a fruity style of cherry, plum, liquorice and herbal spice. Fresh and firm on the palate, the delicate extract sweetness gives it harmony and the silky tannins lead into a warm, very long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fragrant with loamy earth and ripe fruit on the nose, this enticing red features a pure beam of pureed black cherry, minerally iron and smoke, dried thyme and lavender. Silky on the palate, but the lush flavor profile wraps around a core of dense, but fine, tannins that emerge to firm the finish." Wine Spectator
"A lovely shellfish aroma rises first to the nose, followed by notes of fresh orange peel and ripe purple plums. The palate is already engaged and repeats the same fresh fruit and mineral character that gives this wine a light feel despite its Riserva status. Powerful tannins emerge at the end. This is a very fine, terroir-driven wine that just needs time to shake off the still-youthful tannins. An exceptional wine for the Marche. Best from 2024." James Suckling

“Castello di Brolio” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole DOCG 2021 · 6 bottles in OWC
Since summer 2023, Chianti Classico producers have been allowed to include the eleven additional geographical indications (UGA = unità geografiche aggiuntive) introduced in 2021 on the labels of the top Gran Selezione category. For Chianti Classico winegrowers, it is a logical step to produce wines that reflect the area in which they were produced as authentically as possible. And customers can thus deepen their knowledge of the relationship between the wines and their region of origin - a real added value.
The grapes for Ricasoli's classic come from a south-facing plot at an ideal altitude of 250 to 450 metres above sea level. Castello di Brolio Gran Selezione is a wonderful wine with great richness and depth. It has an intense bouquet of small red berries, violets and spices. The flavour reveals precision, structure and freshness. The tannin and acidity are well-balanced and promise a long life and an interesting ageing period. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, medium ruby red colour. Opens elegantly on the nose with aromas of redcurrants, orange peel and juicy cherries. Cool fruit on the palate, very elegant, well-integrated tannins, exciting and persistent final." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio 2021 smells of red Sangiovese fruit, white pepper, cedar wood, tobacco, incense and dried herbs. In the glass, the Riserva is bright and complex, with great energy, another good offering from the Ricasoli family. In fact, the 2021 is one of the best editions I've ever tasted." Vinous
"The Barone Ricasoli 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole Castello di Brolio, now labelled with the Gaiole sub-region on the back label, displays a beautiful bouquet densely packed with carefully ripened fruit. The aromas are characterised by hints of candied cherries intermingled with orris root, dried mint and spice. This generous Sangiovese finishes with lingering freshness." Wine Advocate
"A core of ripe cherries, plums and pomegranates permeates this lively, complex red wine. A balanced version with a firm grip on the finish that complements its fresh acidity. The long aftertaste recalls the fruit and mineral and Mediterranean shrub notes." Wine Spectator
"Ricasoli's flagship wine is a blend of grapes from vineyards in Gaiole on the most important soil types of Chianti Classico: Macigno (sandstone), Galestro and Alberese. The wine shows delicate notes of dark cherries and spiced plums, which are followed in the mouth by a wonderfully vertical structure in which the juicy fruit floats and the savoury edges vibrate with energy. The fruit has a wonderful juiciness, and the tannins are supportive but play a subordinate role. Absolute class." Decanter
"Intense and balanced, perfect standard bearer of the winery. Intense and complex nose, red mulberry, hints of cloves, a touch of laurel and rhubarb. The sip has spicy tannins, a hint of floral nuances and a finish with an officinal return." Luca Gardini
"This wine is so elegant, with a finesse and sensitivity that are so fascinating. It is delicate and almost weightless, with a beautiful and energetic balance of fruit and acidity. It is medium-bodied and extremely long. Medium chewiness. It goes on and on. Dark cherries, bark and lots of flowers on the finish." James Suckling

“Costa Grande” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
A little bit of everything, but never too much of a good thing. One of the most complex Nobiles we have ever tasted. Delicate red fruit with a pinch of sweetness and a floral aroma, underpinned by some tobacco and raspberry. Clear cherry flavour on the palate, plus a wonderful spiciness with that subtle sweetness in the background again. A finesse-rich and harmonious final whets the appetite for the next glass. Very successful and full of precision! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a delicately brightening rim. Fine leather aroma on the nose, delicate roasted malt flavour, fine strawberries on the finish. Very radiant on the palate, juicy, with clear red berry fruit and a powerful final with elegant spicy notes." Falstaff
"Subtle yet complex bouquet with good depth coming from red fruits and spicy flavours. A certain stony minerality adds a touch of austerity to the plums and cherries. Medium to full body with chalky tannins. Transparent and delicious." James Suckling
"The Boscarelli 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Costa Grande is amply rich and fleshed out with dark fruit, tarry smoke and toasted spice. This is a savory wine with a heavy center of gravity that would work next to braised meats or roasts. The wine remains mid-weight in stye, but the texture is velvety and rich." Vinous
"This soft red wine, made exclusively from Sangiovese, opens with aromas of ripe wild berries, undergrowth, violets and dark spices. On the polished palate, refined tannins accompany baked plums, liquorice and a hint of espresso." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Costa Grande is incredibly pretty, as crushed stone gives way to bright cherries, dusty violets, mint and a hint of animal musk. The wine feels round and supple, but gains traction from mineralised red fruits. The finish is lightly structured yet lively. Although the 2018 has only just been bottled, it shows wonderfully and is full of potential. I love it." Vinous
"This ripe and almost opulent red wine shows flavours of black cherries, blackberries, violets, iron and spices. There is a hint of wild herbs that intertwine on the long, dense finish. A tantalising expression of fruit supported by a solid structure." Wine Spectator

“Rosso del Conte” Sicilia Contea di Sclafani DOC 2015 · 6 bottles in OWC
Ruby red, with a fine cherry scent, in which there are also hints of nuts and forest fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, sage and tobacco. Concentrated, rich flavour with harmonious tannins and a long, velvety final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, sparkling ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Multi-layered nose, rich notes of ripe plums, some blueberries, cedar and resin in the background. Juicy and round on the palate, spreads out with powerful, well-integrated tannin, describes a wide arc, firm pressure, long and firm." Falstaff
"Deep crimson. Deep, minty nose with cardamom pod, dark fruit and black-pepper notes and hints of dark earth. I suspect this was aged in chestnut casks. With aeration, increasingly multilayered and growing in stature. Hedonistic dark fruit and finely chiselled tannins on the palate. Very long, generous and complex, but in order for this wine to show its real potential I would put it away for at least five yeas. You don't immediately see it but the bottle has a beautiful shape." Jancis Robinson
"Scorched soil, leather, mature black-skinned fruit and Mediterranean scrub are just some of the aromas you'll find on this blend of Nero d'Avola and Perricone. The enveloping, full-bodied palate delivers ripe blackberry, black cherry, black spice and dried herb alongside firm, fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Good dark red. Ripe, vibrant nose offers kirsch, coffee, chocolate and a whiff of black pepper. At once silky-sweet and tangy, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the fine-grained red/black fruit flavors. Finishes broad, very smooth and long, with harmonious acidity and ripe tannins giving the wine solid structure for aging. A powerful but already approachable red that will have many fans." Vinous
"Complex and decadent aromas of dark berries, walnuts, licorice, and tar follow through to a full body with rich and ripe fruit and a soft and lightly velvety finish." James Suckling
"This is an iconic Sicilian red that celebrates its 40th anniversary with this handsomely styled bottle. The 2015 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte Tenuta Regaleali definitely delivers the goods, but it also delivers a few surprises along the way. There's a lot going on in terms of aromas with softly ripened fruit that is plush and succulent. With a good amount of clarity I might add, you also get varietally true aromas of olive, anise and toasted Bronte pistachio. At the tail end, there is a meaty or savory tone of smoked pancetta or cured ham. The wine shows beautiful intensity and depth with textural richness and integrated tannins." Wine Advocate

This incredibly exciting and multi-layered wine is one of the brightest white wines in Piedmont. SUPERIORE.DE

“MCMLVII” Merlot Vigneti delle Dolomiti DOC 2019 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
At the southern foot of the Margreider Schuttkegel, a vineyard with the dialect name "Punggl" spreads out, which has been known and sought after for winegrowing since time immemorial. In the mid-1950s, the former owners of Ansitz Hirschprunn had planted a vineyard there with Merlot, as it had already produced very good results in the decades before. In 1995, the grapes from this vineyard proved to be of such first-class quality that they inspired Luis von Dellemann, the Oenologistin charge at the time, to vinify these grapes as a single-vineyard wine – this strictly selected grape material has formed the basis for the MCM since then and only in the best years.
Cherry red with ruby reflections. Intense bouquet of wild berries, forest floor and spices. Complex and powerful in the mouth, very well-balanced and deep, very fruity and with a radiant freshness as it progresses. Grandiose length and good potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with slightly brightening rim. Finely marked nose with ripe berry notes, especially blackberry and mulberry, in the background after smoke and pine needles. Open on the palate, fine ripe berry fruit, grippy tannin, firm pressure." Falstaff
"With fruit from old vines, the Alois Lageder 2019 Merlot Vecchie Viti MCMLVII offers a lovely bouquet with tart cherry, honey, lavender essence and rosemary bud. The wine is nearly full–bodied in texture, but it also shows a crisp, almost brambly side that promises to soften with more bottle time. Thanks to that high mountain freshness, you might want to pair this bottle with a food rich in cheese or cream." Wine Advocate
