The 2022 Siepi is a stunning wine that appeals to all the senses with just the right amount of complexity. The wine is soft, brooding, velvety and long-lasting. It is made from equal parts Merlot and Sangiovese and both grapes bring their best qualities to the blend. A long-cherished vision of Elisabetta and her daughter Clara finds its completion in this crescent. The grapes come from the two estate-owned vineyards Pian di Fiora and La Vigna del Palo. Pian di Fiora is the cooler site with just 5 ha, the grapes are destemmed by hand and then fermented in 500l clay amphorae. The grapes from the east-facing vineyard La Vigna del Palo are fermented in open 500l barrels. The wines are then blended and matured in 300l barriques for a further 10 months before facing a further 22 months of bottle ageing.

Intense, deep red with dark ruby reflections. On the nose, fresh notes of red berry fruits and spices, hints of black pepper. The structure is great, its length and elegance inspiring - the refined layered components such as raspberry, cherry and its subtle salty vein make it without doubt one of the most serious wines of the entire appellation - a real Voerzio for comparatively little money.
