Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2017
Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is arguably the richest wine in Vietti's vintage roster. It is a monument based on performance, intensity and power. At the same time, Rocche is incredibly precise and complex every year. It is precisely this interplay of fullness and finesse that makes Rocche so enticing. Rose petals, mint and sweet red berries form a crescendo of aromas and textures that appeals to all the senses. In the almost endless reverberation, everything comes back into harmony as if by magic, leaving behind a Nebbiolo experience of the third kind. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, intense ruby with a fine garnet rim. The nose is characterised by intense notes of rose petals, ripe plums, some goji berries and cinchona bark in the background. Substantial and savoury on the nose, spreads out richly, dark fruit, then quite brittle tannin on the back end." Falstaff
"This red is vibrant, aromatic and expressive, exuding rose, strawberry, cherry, licorice, tobacco and tar flavors. Firm and balanced, with refined tannins and a racy finish." Wine Spectator
"Vietti's mighty 2017 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is extremely polished and sharp, showing the smallest details with microscope-like precision in this release of 3,512 bottles. Tart cherry fruit segues to spice, tarry smoke, licorice and a chiseled sense of minerality that adds ample volume and considerable focus. The wine displays alternating moments of dryness, with layers of cherry sweetness, and all this movement adds to the fluid, ever-changing nature of the bouquet. Vintage after vintage, this wine continues to push the boundaries for Barolo made in Castiglione Falletto." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione shows all the signatures of this site, all turned up to the maximum. I am not sure I have ever tasted a Vietti Castiglione with this much heft. Super-ripe dark red fruit, rose petal, mocha, dried herbs and menthol all build in an ample, resonant Barolo. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2017 for the next handful of years, perhaps longer. A whole range of floral and savory notes punctuates the explosive finish." Vinous
"Exuberant and expressive, it overflows with sweet herbs, warm wetland, forest berries, black tea and bergamot. Though quite a mouthful, it remains well-hone as bright acidity lifts and sophisticated tannins wrap around the palate. A stunning wine with impressive mineral persistence. Vietti’s plots are in the central stretch of this MGA where the soil is richer in marl as opposed to sandier parcels further south. Luca Currado credits Rocche di Castiglione’s gentle southeast exposure - which escapes the hot afternoon sun - for maintaining freshness and fragrance in 2017." Decanter
"There’s clarity and energy to this, offering sweet strawberries and watermelon with fresh-rose and sandalwood undertones. Full-bodied with plenty of tannins, which are ultra-fine and polished for the vintage, giving the overall impression of elegance and finesse. Long. Classy." James Suckling

“I Sodi di San Niccolò" Toscana IGT 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The wine icon, rare every year and very highly rated, presents itself in a shiny, rich ruby. On the nose, crisp berry fruit, ripe dark cherries, sweet plums and delicate notes of cinnamon. In the mouth it is full-bodied and firm, very juicy, unfolds a finely woven tannin and glides in a wide arc into a powerful, long final. A great wine full of tension and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, sweet and with great seductiveness, it smells out of the glass with lots of chocolate and nutty aromas. Fine-grained and clearly structured on the palate, it has excellent breed with playful acidity, which in turn gives it depth and length. Impressively typical I Sodi, which has never lost its traditional character. Even though it was one of the more modern top wines from Tuscany in the 90s because of its ageing in barriques, today it has to be classified rather with the classics." Weinwisser
"Rich, sparkling ruby with a slightly pale rim. Opens clear and deep on the nose, with plums and blackberries, discreet smoky notes, some cardamom. Firm and sturdy on the palate, shows lots of tightly woven tannin, builds up firm pressure, lots of plum, long final." Falstaff
"This is marked by new oak initially, then the plum and cherry flavors shine through. Vibrant, with leather and earth elements joining in before the oak spice and tannins frame the finish. Fresh and complex, with a lot going on—just needs time." Wine Spectator
"Bright and vibrant, the trademark lively and vibrant acidity at the fore straight away giving life and lift to the caramelised cherries, pomegranates and strawberry fruit. The wood is a little apparent, giving the frame a spiced edge that sticks out a little and pulls the fruit forwardness back a bit. Clearly powerful, there is a richness and ripeness to the fruit with massy tannins. Nuanced and generous with precision and focus from beginning to the end." Decanter
"This celebrated Tuscan red is a blend of mostly Sangiovese with a smaller part of Malvasia Nera. The Castellare di Castellina 2018 I Sodi di S. Niccolò shows the elegance and grace of these native grapes with aromas of red and purple fruit, cherry, wild rose and gardening soil. However, there is also a strong oak element that adds spice and toast to the bouquet and textural weight to the wine's generous build." Wine Advocate
"A vibrant, balanced and fresh red with raspberries, pomegranates, cherry stones and spice box on the nose. Sleek, tight tannins. Focused, with a very fine structure and wound-up energy." James Suckling
"The 2018 I Sodi di San Niccolò is the most elegant Sodi I have ever tasted, and I have tasted them all. Sodi can be quite the bruiser in its youth, as the tannins are often imposing, but the 2018 is impressive because there is more than enough fruit to balance things out. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and gravel build in a Sodi endowed with mind-blowing purity and exceptional finesse. Superb!" Vinous

“I Sodi di San Niccolò" Toscana IGT 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
This iconic wine, which is rare and very highly rated every year, presents itself in a brilliant, rich ruby colour. The bouquet is full of crisp berry fruit, ripe dark cherries, sweet plums and delicate notes of cinnamon. Full-bodied and firm on the palate, very juicy, develops a finely worked tannin and glides in a wide arc into a powerful, long final. A great wine full of vigour and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep and dark aromas of Mediterranean herbs, restrained black cherries and austere, earthy complexity. Firm on the palate, with full body, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a chalky finish. Long aftertaste with roasted graphite. A wine that is meant for the long haul, but will be ready to drink in a year or two." James Suckling
"Packed with ripe, juicy cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and floral aromas and flavors, this red is supple and beautifully integrated. Earth, iron and tobacco accents add detail as this winds down on the lazy, resonant aftertaste, showing terrific energy." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 I Sodi di San Niccolò is fabulous. It is a rare wine that offers power, finesse and translucent energy at once. All the elements are in perfect balance. I can’t remember a Sodi like this one, a wine that is so complete and alluring right out of the gate. Rose petal, lavender, spice, orange peel and sage open first. What impresses me most about the 2020 is the finesse of its tannin, something I have very rarely seen in Sodi at this early stage. Magical. This is remarkable in every way." Vinous

“Scrio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Scrio - a great Tuscan Syrah from Le Macchiole - is a real beauty. The persistent bouquet offers aromas of dark berries and cured meat, warm and balsamic on the palate with great intensity and dynamism, rich in extract and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"A Syrah parcel planted in the Alberello vineyard. Deep with lots of Syrah spice, blackcurrant bush and dark, spiced chocolate, delicately gelled red and black fruits, liquorice and blueberries. Polished and precisely structured in the mouth, super juicy with rather red fruits, delicate creaminess, good freshness and with grippy, fine-meshed tannins, spicy and noble." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby colour with a slight violet hue. Fragrant nose with notes of violets and black cherries, underpinned by subtle spicy components, lots of cardamom. Lots of fresh fruit on the palate up front, then opens up with grippy, but somewhat large tannins at the core." Falstaff
"Plenty of flowers and fresh fruit such as blackberries and raspberries. A hint of cloves and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and a crisp and crunchy finish. A little tight on the finish, suggesting that it still has three to four years to mature in the bottle." James Suckling
"A lean, elegant red wine with aromas and flavours of violets, blueberries, boysenberries, earth and spices. Dense yet fluid, with fine-grained tannins and a well-defined fruit bundle that lingers on the finish. Shows excellent finesse and balance." Wine Spectator
"The nose is smooth and dark like a well-tailored suit, while the salty chewiness of black olives waltzes with the acidity of blackberries and blueberries and a firework of black pepper shoots into the night sky. The olives and dark fruits continue to dance on the palate until the song ends with a crescendo of spicy dark chocolate. The elegant tannins watch you from the other side of the ballroom, while the acidity simmers unobtrusively but unforgettably on the balcony." Wine Enthusiast
"The Scrio 2020 is a beautiful wine. At this stage, the Scrio is quite closed, but that's probably a very good thing for its long-term ageing prospects. With time in the glass, notes of white pepper, smoke, dried flowers, mint and chalk emerge, adding brightness to a core of sweet red and blood orange fruit. This is the first vintage in which the vineyard site in the hills of Bolgheri has changed significantly." Vinous
"The 2020 Scrio is a beautiful Syrah from Tuscany that shows impeccable elegance with a very long and straightforward style that is reflected on the nose and palate. I love the precision of this wine. The famous Rhône grape has found a very happy home in this part of the Tuscan coast. The team at Le Macchiole is particularly talented at emphasising the nuances of the grape variety: dark fruits, baking chocolate, spices, charred meat, white pepper and pencil shavings." “Polissena” Sangiovese Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2019 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Polissena shows the typical signature of Il Borro: the wines are made as typical of the grape variety as possible and therefore come into the glass as authentically and transparently as possible - particularly recognisable here with Sangiovese. The nose has a fine cherry flavour with hints of wild berries, forest floor, herbs and a little plum. On the palate, the typical acidity is paired with delicate fruit, a firm centre and a taut final. The 12-month maturation in used and almost neutral barriques is very conducive to the freshness and straightforwardness of the Polissena. Great drinking pleasure and stylistically comparable to a Brunello! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lifted nose with herbs, spice and red fruit. Vanilla and dill notes mingle with cherry and orange zest nuances." Decanter
"Il Borro’s 2019 Valdarno di Sopra Sangiovese Vigna Polissena sees 30 days of fermentation and is aged in neutral barrique for 18 months. It offers a silky and gentle character with very direct fruit that is softened by oak spice. A pretty note of minerality seals the deal." Wine Advocate
"The nose is sunny and wild, with aromas of warm tar and brick dust, then Bing cherries and blood orange, then packed earth, crushed sage and wild fennel that roll onto a round and lush palate of strawberries, cherries, bitter orange and wild herbs. A hint of acidity and a growing peppery spiciness on the back palate linger into a lingering finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Flavours of cedar, salted caramel, fresh flowers and cherries follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins that integrate beautifully with the wine. A hint of wood at the end, but a lovely finish." James Suckling

“Selezione Sergio Zenato” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep bouquet of black berries and cocoa, violets and lavender. On the palate flavours of cherries, blackberries and wild berries, in the long finish the invigorating fresh impressions of medicinal herbs. A stately wine of the upper class. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Zenato 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato is a thickly statured and rich red wine with lots of fruit weight, big intensity and a powerful 16.5% alcoholic content. The wine is redolent of ripe and dark fruit, and there are plenty of savory and smoky notes as well. The tannins are soft and dusty." Wine Advocate
"Radiant, dark ruby red. In the nose a beautiful spectrum of aromas, finely balanced between fruit and spice, plum, cherry, cinnamon, roasted hazelnut, noble wood. On the palate wonderfully dense and polished, compact, very juicy and with elegant pressure, spans a finesse-rich arc, harmonious in approach and course until the long final." Falstaff
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato 2016 needs time to open up in the glass. It is dark and floral and smells of exotic spices, dark chocolate and, with time, red berries. It is velvety and opulent in style, powerful yet soft and enveloping with masses of medicinal berries and exotic spices, dark chocolate and balsamic herbs. The heady final is wrapped in a layer of grippy tannins, yet the expression remains remarkably fresh. You have to realise that this is a richer and riper Amarone, but it succeeds remarkably well." Vinous
"This graceful medium to full-bodied red is finely knit and harmonious, with a pleasing juiciness in the black cherry and black plum flavours, sandalwood, citrus and blackberry herbs. It shows supple, well-connected tannins that unfold on the long, spicy finish." Wine Spectator
"This remarkable Amarone was highly praised by the original jury and survived every further evaluation phase, so that its inclusion in our Best-in-Show collection was never seriously in question. It is already over five years old, but still very dark in the glass - and it is also a wine of remarkable aromatic complexity. Amarone lovers know how many allusions these wines are capable of evoking, and it is not difficult to detect mushrooms, forest undergrowth, truffles, Havana leaves and even wild violets in this wine's aromatic profile, as well as the usual confit cherries and plums. In the mouth, the wine is remarkably concentrated yet elegant, carrying this bundle of allusions effortlessly and seamlessly through the palate. The finely beaded tannins give it support, and the concentration of fruit is such that the acidity almost fades into the background." Decanter
"Unfathomable depth and complexity, with toasted dark liquorice, blackberries, tar, porcini mushrooms, mussels and black chocolate. A light touch of balsamic also adds a spicy edge. The seamless tannins gradually build on the full-bodied palate. Excellent balance between maturity, concentration and freshness, with a long finish. Drinkable now, but much better after 2025." Barolo Cerequio Riserva DOCG 2016
This is a special Riserva from Michele Chiarlo that is late to the market. The Barolo Riserva Cerequio is a great wine, with particularly taut tannins and a concentrated richness that permeates its substantial textile fibre. The flavours of dark fruits such as blackberries and dried cherries are accompanied by spices, leather, tar and ashes from the bonfire. The wine shows the concentration and density of long oak ageing with tannins that definitely need more ageing before this exceptional wine will fully convince its connoisseurs! SUPERIORE.DE
"This red has settled into a nice groove, evoking fading cherry and ripe berry fruit, eucalyptus, menthol and mint notes, with an underlying mineral component. Tightens up on the finish, suggesting this still has some time to give." Wine Spectator
"Beautiful nose of dried red fruits, cherry chocolate, bergamot and bark with hints of citrus blossom and dry earth. So polished and refined with medium to full body and a compact tannin structure. It has savoury nuances in the fruit character and a minerality of gravel on the finish. Already attractive now, but can age further." James Suckling
"The 2016 vintage is still young. Held back for further aging at the winery, the Michele Chiarlo 2016 Barolo Riserva Cerequio has only begun to move away from primary intensity. Flavours of dried fruit and pressed roses follow through to a long, polished mouthfeel. The Cerequio is a full-bodied wine with rich fruit and savoury oak tannins." Wine Advocate
"Enchanting aromas of sour cherry jam, baking spices and rosewood only scratch the surface of what can and will emerge from this stunning Barolo. The palate strikes a firm note with a foundation of tannins and acidity built for the cellar, while tart red berry, aged tea and herbal flavours give an enticing aura to this wine." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2018
Luca Currado cultivates the Brunate Cru on the La Morra side of the vineyard (opposite the Barolo side) and this wine contains fruit from new plots. It convinces with an impressive aroma of red berries, cherries, wild herbs, mint, minerals and rose petals, rounded off by a hint of blood orange. On the palate we find a terrific softness and textural silkiness, this continues with hints of mint, liquorice and camphor ash for many minutes. Polished tannins round off this masterpiece into an extremely elegant Brunate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet raspberries and strawberries on the nose, as well as some chalky minerals. Full-bodied with a tight bead of fruit and mineral flavors that have a hand on the firm tannins and produce good focus and drive at the end. Needs time to integrate. Try from 2025." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Brunate is a deep, layered wine that is going to need at least a few years to come together. Today, the Brunate is quite primary and backward, but all the ingredients are there. Sage, menthol, licorice, dried flowers and spice build with a bit of coaxing." Vinous
"With fruit from La Morra, the mid-weight 2018 Barolo Brunate shows a pretty softness and a delicate side with dried rose, lilac and blue flower. The wine completes malolactic fermentation in barrique and is later moved into large oak casks for aging. This dual oak treatment is part of Vietti's secret recipe for producing the silky tannins and fine texture you taste here. A production of 4,493 bottles, the wine is recognized by that distinctive aromatic finale of licorice and balsam herb." Wine Advocate
"A refined, silky red marked by a mix of rose, strawberry, cherry, eucalyptus and white pepper aromas and flavors. Shows ample structure and fine intensity as this builds to a long, dusty, mineral-tinged finish. Harmonious, firm and fresh." Wine Spectator
"Municipality of La Morra, the south side of another prestigious cru, with calcareous-clay soil and the classic Marne of Sant’Agata. Plants of about 55 years that originate a wine with the nose of wild plum, then violet, ginger, pink grapefruit and licorice root. Sip with iodine tannins, with a return of the sensations of licorice." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2018
Vietti's Ravera is one of the great stars of Piedmont in its precision and structure. It uses fruit from Novello, from a site that looks out over the castle of the same name on the hill in the distance. This wine offers an impeccable balance between nose and mouth, showing immense purity and power in one package. Rose petals, chalk, pepper and a hint of pomegranate make this Barolo one of the most sought-after in the appellation every year. With some ageing, the powerful tannins give way to an elegant impression that does not deviate one millimetre from the coveted style of this great vineyard. A monument of Barolo, which only a few other winemakers in Piedmont besides Vietti and also Giacosa bottle with such consistency! SUPERIORE.DE
"Lighter structure this year, but it’s intense, with focused red-cherry and raspberry character and spicy and mineral nuances. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a very tight finish. This is super-compact and needs time to expand. Try from 2024." James Suckling
"This red leads off with a distinctive minty note allied with cherry, iron, tobacco and underbrush flavors. Turns firm and linear on the finish, with a sinewy feel, yet remains fresh and long. Very pure." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barolo Ravera is a wine of real depth and vertical structure. As always, the Ravera is a taut, nervy Barolo built on energy more than volume. Readers will have to be patient, as the Ravera is likely to require a number of years to be at its most expressive. Even in the early going, it is vibrant and full of life. Rose petal, chalk, blood orange and white pepper lend striking exotic top notes that are quite suggestive of what the future is going to bring. What a gorgeous Barolo this is." Vinous
"Vietti is one of a handful of estates to bring the Ravera MGA of Novello to the current popularity it enjoys now. Their 2018 Barolo Ravera has a smoky personality with crushed stone and pencil shavings. There is plenty of dark fruit at the back, ripe cherry and blackberry mostly, and the wine is tonic and firm in terms of its structure and tannins. The Ravera is a wine of enormous length and a finely tuned texture. Exactly 7,560 bottles were made." Wine Advocate

“Vecchie Viti del Salco” Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2019 (BIO) · 3 bottles in gift box
Just 3,500 bottles are produced from the oldest vines of the Salco vineyard and are only sold in the best vintages. In the glass, we are delighted by an extremely elegant Sangiovese with a very harmonious texture and very classic, earthy-spicy notes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Cherries and chocolate jump off the nose before earthy aromas take over, from mushrooms to dirt to underbrush and moss. The palate echoes these notes, carrying them through a long mocha-infused finish with rigid, durable tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The haunting dark and floral 2019 Nobile di Montepulciano Vecchie Viti del Salco combines exotic spices with crushed dried flowers, spiced cherries and ginger nuances. It is extremely silky, with no hard edges in sight. A polished wave of ripe red berries washes over the palate, leaving a hint of minerality and fine tannins. The 2019 is powerful and incredibly long, with a primary concentration that lasts until the long and structured final. Made from 100% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) from thirty-five year old vines, it's a real stunner." Vinous

Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2018
The supremely potent Rocche di Castiglione is often referred to as the first "official" cru in the history of Langa (along with Bussia di Prunotto, both of which were released with the 1961 vintage). It confirms itself once again as the great classic of the house with the 2018 edition. Dark fruits, pressed lilac, blood orange, powdered liquorice, balsamic herbs, spices, iron ore and aniseed fit together perfectly like pieces of a puzzle. Then lush and racy on the palate, with silky tannins and a great depth and resonance that will continue to develop with time. SUPERIORE.DE
"A Barolo that starts broad and becomes more focused and linear on the finish. It offers aromas and flavours of cherry, plum, minerals, sandalwood and tar that permeate the supple texture, with all components present in the right proportions. Firm, refined tannins give it grip and it lingers beautifully in the mouth." Wine Spectator
"Lots of sweet wild strawberries come into your nose first, but wait for the beautiful, spicy orange peel note that will blow you away. Then mineral and spicy notes come into play. Full-bodied with intense wild fruit and citrus flavours that are already holding on to the slightly chewy tannins. This wine is still very young, but it is packed with bright, spicy-fruity flavours. Patience is called for. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is smooth, silky and flattering from the start. Lush and racy, with silky tannins, the Rocche has great depth and plenty of resonance that will develop over time. The 2018 is a particularly potent Rocche that will need a few more years to develop." Vinous
"From Rocche di Castiglione Falletto, another mythological site, with plants over 80 years old and a soil with bluish-yellow pouches. The nose has fresh notes, clementine peel, then red cherries and chamomile. Salty acidic tannins, nice persistence and juiciness, with citrus back." Luca Gardini
"This is one of my favourite wines from Castiglione Falletto. The Vietti 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is beautifully etched and sharp with a particularly delineated quality that is unusual in this vintage. The fruit comes from a small parcel of 8,000 square metres and, like the other wines in this Cru series from Vietti, it is aged for two years in oak barrels. The texture of the wine is beautifully soft and polished thanks to the carefully integrated tannins. Only 3,693 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Camartina 2016 has exceptional finesse and elegance. Elegant, deep ruby red. Rich aromas of black and red berries such as black cherry and blueberry, joined by notes of ripe plum and tamarind. With further aeration then multi-layered notes of ivy, forest floor and freshly cut bark with hints of leather, sweet tobacco and liquorice. The full and silky body is framed by firm but well-integrated tannins supported by excellent acidity. Then, just before the long finish, ripe black fruits enriched by nutmeg and sweet spices. Great its Tuscan identity full of energy and liveliness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny, dense ruby. Opens on the nose with fine spicy notes, cinnamon blossom and clove, followed by cassis and plum. Substantial and powerful on the attack, opens with many layers of present tannin, lots of juicy berry fruit." Falstaff
"Very pretty and precise with tight tannins and polish. It's linear and compact with blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry character. Racy and polished." James Suckling
"Ripe, sweet black currant, black cherry, iron, leather and tobacco flavors mingle in this tightly-wound red. Balanced, dense and remains focused and persistent on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2016 Camartina is superb. As always, Camartina is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese, all from Greve's Ruffoli district, where Querciabella is located. At this stage in its development, the Camartina is driven by Sangiovese in its red-toned fruit, aromatics and acid profile. The 2016 is vibrant, saline and full of energy. I am so intrigued to see how it develops in bottle." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Fuligni's 2019 Brunello shows balance and symmetry with plenty of primary vigour to ensure longevity in the cellar. The bouquet opens with dark plums, dried raspberries, spices, aniseed and grilled herbs - especially lavender and rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, with a complex weave of fruit, minerals and tannins. It is disempoweringly generous and has a subtle opulence, but never weighs down the palate. The powerful, refined tannins are finely powdered and the penetrating acidity radiates evenly but not obtrusively. Notes of liquorice, violets, blood orange and iron emerge at the end. Long-lasting and effortlessly confident, as you would expect from Fuligni! SUPERIORE.DE
"Pleasant appearance with a nose of black berries and flowers, also tobacco notes; powerful on the palate, the tannins robust, combines character with minerality and elegance. Can mature." Vinum
"Complex, deeply layered bouquet with dark cherry, earthy nuances, blue berries and a reassuringly cool vein. Super juicy palate, incredibly multi-layered with a very juicy vein, linear orientation, super spicy, vinified in the traditional style, lingers forever with herbal, dark fruity and floral notes. One of the best of the tasting!" Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby-garnet colour with a brightening rim. Aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose, very clear, some plums, a hint of leather in the background. Firm, dense tannins, shows a lot of tension and pressure, dark berry fruit on the finish, great development potential." Falstaff
"Ripe, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Slumbering nose with exotic spice notes on the nose. Still in its infancy, but polished with fine-grained tannins that need more time. Long, finely aromatic finish of cherries and raspberries. So supple and elegant and at the same time not unfocussed. Carries its 15 % effortlessly. Real substance, but not heavy." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, refreshing and complex, with flavours of cherry, plum, earth, leather and minerals. This red wine is lively, with notes of liquorice and tamarind. Best of all is the ripe fruit, supple texture and resonant tannins that extend to a white pepper finish." Wine Spectator
"The Fuligni 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is rich in dark fruit, balanced by spicy notes of tobacco leaf and cigar ash, and beautifully concentrated. After a short time, the bouquet reveals a floral intermezzo with dried rose petals and a tropical note of hibiscus. This wine shows many facets, all of which are very pleasant and work together. The tannins are dusty and finely structured with a hint of powdery cocoa on the finish." Wine Advocate
"Dusty and floral, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a fragrant blend of dried roses, cherries, mint and lavender candy. On the palate, it is elegant and seamlessly silky, enveloping the senses with ripe red berry fruits contrasted by a bitter hint of cloves. A core of vibrant acidity provides a beautiful balance, while a web of fine tannins saturates the palate and leaves a pleasant sensation of chewiness. The 2019 is classic through and through." Vinous
"This historic and reliable winery does not disappoint in 2019. It is expressive rather than austere and will reveal more with time. But the flavours - a striking fusion of chestnut forest and polished wood with fennel and spiced plums - are already so enticing. It fills the mouth with glossy red berries and pressed violets, and after an initial caress, the tight-knit tannins intensify on the palate and remain balanced in volume. A complex and detailed wine with great depth." Decanter
"Perfumed with aromas of sweet berries, fresh flowers and cedar wood, leading to a medium-bodied palate with firm and chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Very noble and structured. Extremely long. Give it time to open up." James Suckling
"Orthodox in flavour and vinification, a Brunello of intensity and tension. Notes of pomegranate on the nose, with hints of eucalyptus and juniper, then lemon thyme on the finish. Salty, juicy tannins on the finish, with balsamic notes and pomegranate." Luca Gardini

“Le Caggiole” Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The first Caggiole was launched in 1988 and disappeared again as early as 1995, because the flagship Asinone simply met consumers' tastes better. Today - after more than 20 years of abstinence - the Nobile Le Caggiole is back on the market as the new first wine of the house. Estate owner Dott. Federico Carletti has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna - setting a new benchmark for Poliziano and the entire denomination. We are very pleased to present this strictly limited top wine!
Salty, mineral and refined. Le Caggiole represents the terroir and the grape variety Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine of the house. It is almost light-footed, svelte, delicate and at the same time very fine. It is the result of many years of work in selecting the right Sangiovese clones in the single vineyard of the same name, Le Caggiole, which consists of 4 plots. SUPERIORE.DE
"Radiant, elegant ruby red with a delicately lightening rim. Expressive and fragrant nose of ripe heart cherries, wild strawberries, noble use of wood and fine spices in the background. Very polished and juicy on the palate, tightly woven tannins coat the hearty fruit, radiant and finesse-rich, still a little grippy on the final." Falstaff
"The 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Caggiole lifts up with a display like human catnip. A pleasant air of vanilla custard accentuates sweet smoke, grilled sage, cocoa and rum-soaked cherries. It’s silky and polished in feel yet finessed with an almost weightless aura, showing decidedly ripe plum and hints of candied citrus to balance. The 2018 finishes long and gently tannic, with inner tobacco and sweet herbal tones lingering incredibly long. While the nose is a bit candied in personality, the 2018 possesses fantastic harmony within. I'm very interested to see what a few years of cellaring might do." Vinous
"Features a fine balance between the cherry, currant, earth, wild thyme and eucalyptus flavors, with a firm backbone of tannins and juicy acidity. Well-delineated and long, this red is complex and refined." Wine Spectator
"A firm and fine Vino Nobile with cherry, berry and lightly earthy aromas. Crushed stone. Medium body. Linear finish. A little tight now. Give it two or three years. Try after 2024." James Suckling

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM in gift box
The grapes for this remarkably Burgundian Gran Selezione come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25-hectare Chianti Classico vineyard, which was planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and is south-facing on old terraces. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and in the 2019 debut vintage, the winery succeeded in acquiring this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico region. The bottles are numbered and around 4,000 bottles and 50 magnums are bottled each year.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread, which combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich on the palate, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Wonderful ageing potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"The second vintage of Riecine's Gran Selezione is of captivating beauty. The fragrance plays between fresh red berry fruit and fine floral notes, cranberries and blood oranges resonate on the palate, silky, brilliant, gentle and demanding in character at the same time, has a lot of freshness and great depth, fabulous elegance with a hint of candied lavender flowers on the finish. Great cinema." Weinwisser
"Brilliant, lively ruby red colour. On the nose, initially candle wax, then ripe cherries and forest fruits, reminiscent of ripe watermelon, with a second aftertaste of dark spices, some sealing wax and leather. Compact and tightly woven on the palate, polished on the tongue, very juicy and deep, with a clear fruit final." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020 Vigna Gittori from the vineyards of Gaiole is aromatic, racy and very expressive. Crushed flowers, blood orange, white pepper and mint lend this medium-bodied, silky Gran Selezione a remarkable aromatic presence. The polished tannins round off the whole in style." Vinous
"The dense tannins of this red wine support flavours of cherry, raspberry, iron and eucalyptus. The lively acidity keeps it concentrated on the long-lasting finish. Still a little compact now, it should develop well over the next few years." Wine Spectator
"Presented in a handsome, redesigned bottle with a black wax capsule, the Riecine 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori takes a different approach to the hot vintage. It offers flavours that feel anything but overripe and in fact evoke cooler elements of wild berries, peat moss, perfumed violets, flint, campfire ash and crushed white pepper. With this more restrained ripeness comes more spice and texture from oak ageing. This wine shows a beautiful elegance." Wine Advocate
"Such purity and beauty with aromas and flavours of roses, peaches, citrus and cherries. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Crisp and refined. It lasts for minutes. So drinkable and beautiful now, but it will improve." James Suckling
"The latest, juicy novelty of the house, from the vineyard of the same name and refined vinification and maturation. Very balsamic on the nose, black cherry under spirits, wild rosemary and hints of nutmeg. The sip is iodised, with a fruity return and spicy sensations." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Millecento” Riserva DOCG 2016
Millecento Riserva from the dream vintage 2016 unfolds in the glass with hints of mocha, sweet cherry and plum, tobacco and a touch of fresh mint. There is a sense of opulence, but also of sophistication, as the texture of ripe red fruits with salty mineral notes glides across the palate, taking on a sweet herbal note towards the end. It finishes with a layer of fine tannins and acidic citrus, while tart wild berries and a hint of exotic spices linger. This wine still has several years of development ahead of it, but its refined blend of richness and elegance can already be experienced today. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. In the nose of ripe cherries, a hint of marzipan, dried roses, then strawberries in the aftertaste, noble resinous tones round off the bouquet. On the palate with great fruit sweetness and hearty course, shows dancing play, builds up in many layers, independent and long." Falstaff
"Cecilia Leoneschi has been the winemaker at Castiglion del Bosco since Massimo Ferragamo purchased the estate in 2003. She has been instrumental in converting the estate to organic practices, with official certification achieved in 2016. Grilled nut, cedar and vanilla permeate the wild strawberry-soaked nose. The palate is concentrated and confidently extracted. Dry, grippy tannins clutch the mouth, followed closely by a wash of lip-smacking acidity. Savoury with compelling underbrush accents, there is plenty brewing here." Decanter
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Millecento is dark and animalistic with musky black currants, mocha, rosemary and underbrush lifted by a hint of camphor. This is decidedly salty and mineral in character, offsetting its silky textures with tart wild berries tinged with sour citrus, as grippy tannins mount toward the close. Balsam herbs, cocoa and hints of licorice linger incredibly long over a coating of fine-grained tannins through the heroically structured finale. There’s already so much going on here, but with cellaring, I expect even more." Vinous
"The Castiglion del Bosco 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Millecento 1100 is the aspirational wine in this portfolio. It aims high and showcases the carefully manicured approach of the winemaking team in both the vineyard and the winery. This is a grand vintage with firm structure, lots of fruit brightness, depth and freshness. You should expect balanced intensity at this price point, and you get it." Wine Advocate
"Blueberries and cherries with hints of cedar and spice, as well as plenty of mixed dried flowers, including violets. Some graphite and stone, too. Medium-to full-bodied with racy tannins and a long, long finish. It’s linear and complete, with lovely elegance and structure. Try after 2024." James Suckling
"This red reveals both power and finesse, with intense aromas of truffle, black currant, violet and iron leading off, backed by saturated dark berry fruit, floral, leather and tobacco flavors. Big, muscular tannins grab hold of the finish, with ample fruit in reserve. Best from 2026 through 2046." Wine Spectator

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
The Brunello di Montalcino 2017 also lives up to the impeccable reputation that the winery has earned over the years. We experience here a profound and beautifully made Sangiovese that presents a powerful and lush fruit of black cherry and spicy plum at the beginning. On the nose, mild oak notes, smoke, tar and roasted nuts. As it progresses, gravel, dried herbs and some mint. This Brunello shows an elegant development in the glass and promises a very long ageing period. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark red; reductive fruit, barrel-aged; powerful, fruity, present good tannin, length." Merum
"Floral-fruity bouquet with notes of stone fruit and caramel, also herbs; juicy in the mouth, the tannins finely tart, the final skilfully balanced. Convinces with power and solid fruit." Vinum
"Regularly somewhat "bacony" in the savoury aroma with fine cedar, bacon notes and spices marked by wood ageing, behind wild berries, cassis and raspberries. Rich, pithy, dense palate, with a coarse-meshed tannin network that doesn't quite match last year's in quality. Substantial final." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red. In the nose slightly bacony hints, then ripe raspberries and cherries, shows nuances of light malt, leather. On the palate pithy and with delicately wide-meshed tannin, savoury fruit in the attack and course, still needs to find itself." Falstaff
"Lustrous deep ruby. Firm, deep cherry fruit on the nose and with an undertow of savoury spice. Lots of perfumed sour-cherry fruit on the palate and with bags of firm, but polished tannins on the finish. A bit austere right now, but with great length as well as potential." Jancis Robinson
"Masses of ashen earth, smoke, dusty cherry and roses with nuances of clove lift up from the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino. This is silky and pliant upon entry, presenting a rich display of intense red and hints of black fruits laced with chalky minerals that drenches the palate. Penetrating acidity and grippy tannins create a burst of cheek-puckering tension, clenching down hard with youthful poise, as notes of licorice and hard red candies linger through the structured, medium-length finale. That said, it needs time to unwind from its youthful state. Production was down 15–20% at Il Poggione in 2017 due to severe selection of bunches, and all of the fruit that would have been reserved for the Riserva Vigna Paganelli was added to the Brunello instead." Vinous
"Sweet, ripe cherry, blackberry and plum fruit flavors are framed by mineral, tobacco and thyme accents in this vibrant, balanced red. Make no mistake, there are ample tannins too, yet this still finds a nice equilibrium on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a saturated and shiny dark ruby color. This edition is loaded with black and purple fruits, such as blackberry preserves and plum. Those more robust tones are followed by spice, tar and campfire ash. The tannins are young (but not stemmy or bitter), and you'd be best served by letting this wine age and relax with more cellar aging. Il Poggione always makes some of the smoothest and most texturally enriched wines in the appellation, and this vintage is no exception." Wine Advocate
"Underbrush, camphor and new leather aromas get together with grilled herbs. Full-bodied and structured, it also shows restraint, featuring dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside firm, fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Also in the 2017 vintage one of the most multifaceted and interesting references, from an historical firm. Nose of black currant, touches of fresh thyme and licorice, closing on notes of white pepper. The mouthfeel hassapid tannins and a finish with the return of small black fruits." Luca Gardini

Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Barolo Lazzarito 2019, which obtains its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, is built like a pyramid. It stands on a thick base of robust fruit and power and rises in intensity thanks to its wonderfully elevated bouquet. It shows direct and solid lines with blackberries, plums, spices, tar, liquorice, candied orange peel and truffle-infused earth. A second wave of flavours offers dark minerals, iron ore and rust. Baroli from Serralunga d'Alba are often in a category of their own thanks to their richness and sheer abundance of fruit. With additional aeration, the Lazzarito, certified organic for the first time in this vintage, delivers mint and fine balsamic herbs and will fully inspire with further maturation in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"The aromas of orange peel, raspberries, apples and violets merge into a medium-bodied wine with flavours of sage, lavender and raspberries. Firm and racy tannins." James Suckling
"A tantalising expression of cherry, plum, liquorice, earth and spice flavours. This red wine shows power and vigour as well as breadth and harmony. The finish is long-lasting with notes of plum, spices and minerals." Wine Spectator
"This is the Barolo we've been looking for! Black cherry, warm spices, crushed stone and dried herbs flow from the glass. It is firm on the palate and makes it clear that it should spend some time in the cellar. The fruit core is present but restrained, while black tea, aniseed, pepper and mineral notes are present but need more time." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Barolo Lazzarito continues a trend of recent years where the focus is more on finesse than raw power. Intense red fruit, iron, dried herbs, chalk, dried rose petals and white pepper permeate this deep, virile Barolo. The power and intensity of the Serralunga come to the fore in the heady, explosive finish. Bright salty notes linger on the deep, resonant finish. The Lazzarito is a Barolo of raw, unbridled power and demands patience." Vinous
"The Vietti 2019 Barolo Lazzarito with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba is a historic cornerstone of this powerful portfolio. It is also one of Vietti's Barolos that continues to offer extreme quality and pleasure with each new release. The Serralunga d'Alba is always powerful and rich. You can recognise aromas of dried tobacco leaves, fragrant tea, crushed roses and iron ore. The bouquet is very expressive." Wine Advocate
"An intense, savory Barolo, with a bouquet of balsamic notes, eucalyptus, red currant, touches of pepper leaf and nutmeg. Savory tannins on the palate, beautiful verticality enhanced by fruity-balsamic return." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Le Macioche is a jewel of a vineyard with five hectares of vines and a picturesque forester's house surrounded by cypress trees. Cotarellas Riserva from the top 2016 vintage has a lot to offer and is characterised by firm, concentrated tannins and dense fruit. Forest berries, medicinal herbs, cola and potting soil on the nose. On the palate, red plums, dried cherries and lemon juice provide complexity and depth alongside the beautiful fruit centre. This is followed by a full body, perfect fine-grained tannins and a subtle, elegant final. Despite its complexity, this Riserva also displays a certain intensity and rigour. The bottles are numbered, less than 100 magnum bottles were bottled. SUPERIORE.DE
"Violet, camphor and mocha aromas pour from the glass, along with a hint of baked plum. The palate is soft and full-bodied, with fleshy flavours of black cherries, liquorice and tobacco as well as velvety tannins. It is already drinking well, but will continue to give pleasure for several years." Wine Enthusiast
"Just a stone's throw from the famous Salicutti winery, Le Macioche is a well-ventilated estate with warm, south-east to south-west facing vineyards. The scent of wild strawberries, cedar wood and rooibos tea is reminiscent of the altitude. The wine is fluid and light on its feet, with juicy acidity and finesse supported by terracotta-like tannins. A hint of toast marries with crisp redcurrants. It's ready to drink now, but its creeping depth will carry it for over a decade. There's already a fair amount of sediment, so make sure you decant it." Decanter
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva presents a dusty bouquet, where cedar shavings and dried roses pave the way to spiced cherries and a hint of sweet smoke. The wine feels light and delicate, with a silky texture that carries a vibrant mix of pure plum and strawberry fruit across the palate. The tannins kick in late and overwhelm the senses until the final, while inner flowers echo over a tactile layer of savoury minerals. This wine is absolutely classic, but it needs time to unwind. Very well done!" Vinous
"Le Macioche's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Cotarella (sealed with a red wax capsule) is a polished expression of Sangiovese with beautifully ripened fruit framed by oak toast, spice and campfire ash. The wine shows a sweet, velvety side with dried cherry and redcurrant flavours, but these secondary oak influences play only a supporting role. The texture and length of the wine are further enhanced by cellar ageing. Any more toast would be too much." Wine Advocate
"Rich and dense, with flavours of cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, violets, minerals and spices. The backbone of acidity provides definition and keeps this red wine lively from start to finish. Balanced, long and with outstanding potential." Wine Spectator

“Turriga” Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
In 1991, Turriga was one of the first bottled wines ever to be exported from the island. Turriga has a 100% Sardinian soul - the famous blend of four red autochthonous grape varieties was once created by the famous OenologistGiacomo Tachis and is continued today by his "heir" Mariano Murru, technical director and Oenologist at Argiolas. The DNA of this exceptional wine sounds as simple as it is perfect: its sophisticated blend of grape varieties gives it its unique structure, roundness, fullness, fruit and a perfectly balanced portion of tannins.
Mariano goes into raptures and describes his top wine as follows: "It has a deep ruby red colour and an enveloping taste of almost spherical softness, with tannins of great finesse that support and accompany the drink. The lively fruit is supported by a balanced acidity and spiciness that refreshes the palate and prolongs an indescribable finish of rare elegance."
Bravo, Mariano! We have loved the elegant bouquet of plums, the opulent dark fruit, the finely balanced vanilla note and the subtle hint of tobacco for decades. Excellently structured and long-lasting on the finish. A masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"A beautifully curated and polished young red wine with black berries, violets and bark. Full and velvety with creamy textured tannins and a flavourful finish. Juicy." James Suckling
"An incredible wine, one of the highest creations of Sardinian oenology. Blueberries on the nose, a hint of bay leaves, nutmeg on the finish. It is also savoury on the palate, with salty tannins, beautiful juiciness and persistent drinkability." Luca Gardini

"Piano delle Colombe is a 100% Nerello Mascalese from vines over 80 years old that grow on a small plot in San Lorenzo. Fermented in small open vats and matured for 18 months in a Liters oak barrel and a used barrique, it is balsamic and earthy with some ripe red and black berry aromas. Juicy, intense and savoury, its subtle, grippy tannins envelop tangy blackberries, pomegranate and a fresh herbal finish." Decanter
"The 2020 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo Piano delle Colombe is a showstopper, spicy and exotic with a kaleidoscopic bouquet of cloves, allspice, dried blood orange, cinnamon and crushed wild blueberries. It's succulently ripe in style with juicy acidity to balance. A wave of violet-tinged wild berry fruits washes across the palate with ease, leaving a tactile mineral tinge in their wake. Hints of sour cherry combine with candied citrus and spice as the 2020 finishes long and staining yet remarkably fresh. A subtle coating of fine tannins provides support but doesn’t impose. This is a showboat vintage for the Piano delle Colombe, a parcel of San Lorenzo with soils that originate from a volcanic explosion rather than lava flow. It's an exquisite and harmonious wine that is sure to win a lot of hearts." Vinous
"This wine shows lots of crisp and fresh red fruit mixed with dried Mediterranean herbs, orange peel and hibiscus. Also some smoky, dusty earth tones. Medium body. Very consistent and persistent on the palate with crisp acidity and a chalky, mineral backbone. Consistent and long finish." James Suckling
"The Girolamo Russo 2020 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo Piano delle Colombe is more approachable compared to the 2019 vintage. It is a beautiful wine with fine fibre and delicate fruity notes of wild berries, gravel and white pepper. The 2020 vintage shows the supreme elegance of Etna." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 2 articles per customerBarolo “Falletto” DOCG 2016
With the exceptional 2016 vintage, Falletto once again proves what this wine is capable of. Multi-layered bouquet with subtle sweetness, an inner fragrance and nuances that are generally only found in Giacosa's Red Label Riservas. The Falletto impresses with the intensity of its dark fruits and the excellent overall balance. The extroverted personality of the vintage is evident, especially when the wine meanders in the glass for some time left to its own devices. Menthol, flowers and liquorice give the wine refined complex notes on the finish. This is a particularly racy Barolo from Bruno Giacosa, which also has an impressive characteristic elegance! SUPERIORE.DE
"A massive wine from Serralunga, this displays dense cherry and red-fruit aromas that are solid and brooding. Full-bodied with firm tannins that are chunky now, this has immense concentration and force, if not the ethereal quality that marks Giacosa's supreme wines. But it's balanced, with the high alcohol not discernible, and given the slight furriness on the very long finish, this needs time." Decanter
"This pretty red offers distinctive mint, black tea, cherry, tar, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Firm and dry, with the tobacco and tea notes echoing on the finish. Shows plenty of finesse." Wine Spectator
"This is a really dense red with intensity and beauty, showing dried fruit, such as strawberries, as well as chocolate, tar, hazelnuts and meat. Really complex and rich. Opulent, yet tense with dusty tannins. Extremely long. Great finish. Hard not to drink now, but will age incredibly well. Try after 2025." James Suckling
"The Bruno Giacosa 2016 Barolo Falletto (white label) brings us another extraordinary expression from a classic vintage. Serralunga d'Alba fruit is full, generous and thickly layered in a manner that you always hope to encounter when lucky enough to drink pedigree Nebbiolo. There is enormous density here and power and grace; however, the Barolo Falletto is seemingly weightless and ever so delicate as it warms smoothly over the senses. Crisp cherry and blackberry are followed by delicate tones of crushed stone and iron ore. Bright tones of grilled herb and blue flower lift gently from the bouquet and add to the balanced intensity of this collectors' vintage." Wine Advocate

“Palazzi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
Andrea Franchetti began in the 1990s to position Palazzi as an equal red alongside his flagship Tenuta di Trinoro, with the aim of producing two exceptional wines reminiscent of the left and right banks of Bordeaux.
Just three words: power, intensity and concentration. With a very manageable production of 1,660 bottles, here is a full-throttle Tuscan wine that constantly exudes generous black fruits, spices and sweet tobacco. There is also black cherry and plum, which lend the wine soft contours and sweetness. On the palate, it is firm, well-structured and delights with a mouthfulness that is unrivalled. Take a good piece of red meat, marinate it in rosemary and olive oil before putting it on the charcoal grill and then embark on this monumental adventure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Splendid Merlot from loamy soils, tinged with blackberries and cassis, flanked by fine spice, tobacco and dark chocolate flavours; slightly less dense than last year, but still with a lot of finesse and a perfectly balanced tannin-acid structure, subtle minerality and complexity in the lingering final. Very successful!" Vinum
"The Palazzi 2020 is packed with dark fruits, cloves, leather and dark chocolate. Rich, deep and quite potent, the 2020 is another extroverted wine in this range. The tannins are a little curmudgeonly, but otherwise the 2020 is beautifully made and shows promise, especially as the tannins soften." Vinous
"The aromas of raspberries, plums and violets are very enticing. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a creamy and refined texture that is long and beautiful. A blend of Merlot parcels. Juicy and delicious." James Suckling
"Shows pure black cherry and blackberry fruit, along with olives, wild herbs and mineral accents. It offers a rich structure, but the overall impression is one of velvety texture and great harmony. Lively finish that leaves a salty impression. It is already accessible now, but will improve with time." Wine Spectator
"A primarily sanguine and umami nose draws balance from sweet, slightly astringent notes of plum, blueberry and boysenberry. The berries flourish on the palate, but acid brings out a latent mix of pepper and spices to preserve balance, while silky, opaque tannins provide framing." Wine Enthusiast
"The Palazzi 2020 is a 100% Merlot made to the highest standards by a winemaker, the late Andrea Franchetti, who strived for perfection. From his beloved Tenuta di Trinoro in Sarteano, with its endless skies and rolling landscapes, this wine shows plump fruit, blackberries, plums, spice and campfire ash. Coming from a hot vintage, the fruit is beautifully ripe, but by no means exaggerated. The wine shows softness, tension and a supple texture. This bottle gives a lot of intensity and charm." Wine Advocate
"Rich, bright ruby colour with a fine violet sheen. Compact and very present nose, smells of ripe blackberries, blueberries, some truffle and graphite in the background, beautiful play. Fills out the palate without becoming overpowering, ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit, polished, fine-meshed tannins in many layers, coated with fine enamel, simply fun! " Falstaff

Brunello di Montalcino “Madonna del Piano” Riserva DOCG 2004
Madonna del Piano is the top vineyard of Valdicava, named because of the small church there. A great Riserva with lovely tobacco notes and hints of sour cherries, the taste reveals a lovely texture and wonderfully resolved tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Here's a dark and well concentrated Brunello Riserva with meaty tones of smoked ham or bresaola backed by black cherry and prune. You'll get loads of leather and tobacco and the wine is bright and tart on the close with a fresh fruit finale. Excellent." Wine Enthusiast
"Offering a ripe bouquet of cherry and raspberry, this is the fruitiest of this decade. The primary fruit flavors are allied to a velvety texture, backed by a solid layer of tannins. Despite the feel of surmaturité here, the finish is fresh and superlong." Wine Spectator
"The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano continues to develop very positively. This huge, concentrated Madonna del Piano dazzles for the richness of its fruit and the delineation of its aromas. The clean, vibrant finish suggests many years of cellaring potential. The Valdicava Brunellos are often misunderstood when young because they possess so much richness, but with time in bottle the wines turn more delicate and complete." Wine Advocate
"A full-bodied, firm and chewy wine with very polished and caressing, juicy tannins. Shows youth and prowess in its structure. Flavorful and persistent." James Suckling
