Barolo Parussi DOCG 2019 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
"For the Barolo DOCG Parussi, we left the confines of Serralunga and opted for a vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. Thanks to the characteristics of Nebbiolo, which is perfectly capable of capturing the differences in microclimate and soil composition and translating them into sensations, the result amazed us. Structured, important, austere. Made with Nebbiolo grapes from our vineyard in the MGA Parussi in Castiglione Falletto." Franco Massolino
Parussi is the most open-hearted and fruity Barolo in Massolino's 2019 collection. It has a striking immediacy and sweetness in the mid-palate. Juicy red and purple berries, spices and mint combine in the glass. On the palate, Parussi is silky, floral and medium-bodied, displaying all the sensuality typical of Castiglione Falletto's Barolos. Best of all, Parussi can be drunk much earlier than the wines from Serralunga. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pure ruby red colour. Great depth of fruit on the nose, with salty and mineral notes. Not quite open, but captivating, fragrant and lifted and with quite a lot of substance. Juicy acidity and still shy fruit. Mineral and with fine, super-long tannins, while the fresh acidity emphasises the ripe raspberry fruit. Wonderful length and juiciness. Fine but powerful." Jancis Robinson
"This 2019 is fully focused on restrained root flavours like rhubarb and liquorice, wrapped in sweet violet, rose, redcurrant and pomegranate. It's quite austere, with a good concentration of blood orange on the finish, but thick, dusty and austere tannins." Decanter
"This pure red exudes rose, strawberry, cherry, iron and eucalyptus flavors. Linear, with a firm spine of tannins and lively acidity for support, this shows excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Very pretty with pure and fresh fruit and concentrated tannins. Medium to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a bright and lively finish. Shows tension and brightness. Flowers and sliced strawberries on the finish." James Suckling
"The Massolino 2019 Barolo Parussi has dark fruits and savoury spices that make for a very firm and compact wine. This is a forward and quite muscular expression with fruit from one of the northernmost sites in Castiglione Falletto. The tannins show a certain firmness that will require a longer ageing period." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Parussi 2019 is the only Barolo by Massolino from Castiglione Falletto. A wine of absolute grace and refinement, the 2019 is pure seduction. Fresh cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, orange peel and rose petals rise from the glass. harvestwill discover an elegant, sublime Barolo that hits all the right notes. Don't miss it." Vinous
"The first Barolo from Massolino to be born outside the "borders" of Serralunga, in Castiglione Falletto, with a vinification of great finesse. On the nose, dogwood, a hint of peony and a final touch of fresh rosemary. The palate is crisp, with savoury tannins. Finishes with a fruity aftertaste." Luca Gardini

“Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2021
"Sassicaia really was our house wine back then," says Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, daughter of the president of San Guido, Marquis Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta. "It was more of a wine experiment that was only tested within the family and among friends, until we went on the market for the first time with the 1968 vintage. Today, this wine is all about elegance and balance. We like this style, which is not so much about the body. Sassicaia is a good representative of what we want to convey as a style."
Enough of the elegant understatement: Sassicaia 2021 is stunning and beguiling. Very elegant on the nose, it displays energy and character of a decidedly noble and fascinatingly spicy nature. Notes of wild violets mingle with original myrtle, juniper berries and coriander. The core of the wine is rich with nuances of black plums, dark tea leaves and cloves. Full-bodied, soft and enveloping on the palate, it displays perfectly ripe, noble tannins and a truly exciting finish that ignites from mid-palate and draws a progressive, ascending parabola as it progresses. A great wine from a great 2021 vintage that has added an extra dimension of freshness and precision to arguably Italy's best red wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex bouquet with rich cassis and wild berry fruit, earthy-tobacco and liquorice notes, with wonderful truffle and tobacco notes. Very dense on the palate, but also tightly meshed, you can feel the maturity of the vintage, but the wine remains tightly meshed and elegant throughout, almost virtuoso with delicate hints, the almost perfect tannin is grippy and silky. This will be a long-distance runner. An exciting Sassicaia that could even reach the dream score with maturity." Weinwisser
"The classic that started it all, as always in top form: after some aeration, an intriguing nose on notes of black forest fruits, cassis, dried roses and pepper; precisely drawn on the palate, elegant, noble course with tightly woven tannins, but also invigorating acidity, supple, mouth-filling and yet light-footed." Vinum
"Brilliant ruby with a delicately brightening rim. A nose to fall in love with: Smells initially of roses, then of cassis, dark cherries and a little cardamom. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, opens with well-integrated, fine-meshed tannins, savoury and endlessly long." Falstaff
"Medium to dark crimson, but no attempt to break any records for colour intensity. Much more subtle nose than most - no obvious sweetness and certainly no oak. Spicy and savoury and introverted. Everything is geared towards longevity. Bone-dry finish. Very different from the Ornellaia! Well-groomed, self-confident and unobtrusive. But so balanced and appetising that I enjoyed it!" Jancis Robinson
"Very stylish and typical of Sassicaia with blackcurrant, tobacco, chocolate, sage and lavender on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with very integrated and refined tannins that are caressing and pretty, with a lovely length and beauty. Such finesse and structure at the same time. Best from 2028 and beyond, but a joy to taste now." James Suckling
"Comforting and luxurious on the nose, though initially restrained, like hot coffee with a slice of warm berry pie, then suddenly more serious, with aromas of leather-bound books and crisp autumn air. The palate is full of berries, but also vibrant acids, and the tannins feel like a silky fabric, strong and supple, tightly stitched and flowing in an endless finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Rich yet elegant, with aromas and flavours of black cherries, blackberries, cedar, minerals and oak spice, this resonant red wine builds to a long, detailed finish. It shows great balance, with lively acidity and refined tannins, but will benefit from a few more years of ageing." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Sassicaia is one of the best young Sassicaias I can remember tasting, certainly on a par with any recent wine. Sassicaia is more a wine of refinement than opulence. During a long growing season, all the elements came together to produce a rich, deep wine that combines textural intensity with classicism. Dark cherry and plum fruit, spice, new leather, menthol, liquorice and spice race across the palate. After some time in the glass, the intensity of the texture and the sheer power of the wine come to the fore. The 2021 is one of the most concentrated Sassicaias ever made. In a word: great." Vinous
"Rich aromas of dark fruits and herbs are infused with blueberry and petrichor, leading to an intense and vertical palate that is super-fresh with a delightfully airy, savoury character. Textured, integrated tannins emphasise Sassicaia's finesse and show just a hint of youthful dustiness. Spicy, bright black, blue and red berry fruits overlay underlying notes of dark chocolate and forest undergrowth with remarkable precision, with pomegranate and a stony minerality emerging on the mid-palate. The 2021 shows a wonderful richness of fruit with the characteristic freshness and lightness of step and finishes long and balanced. Outstanding." Decanter
"Here it is: a quintessential Sassicaia that represents the excellence of the vintage while respecting the unique flavour profile of this outstanding Tuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc. The Tenuta San Guido 2021 Bolgheri Sassicaia offers impeccable balance, excellent freshness and absolutely no signs of over-ripeness. The fruit balance is ideal, with a hint of crispness and lingering tension from the flesh and skin. The tannins are skilfully handled, with a firm grip and enough velvety texture to give volume and length. The bouquet is not green, instead offering mulled wine herbs and spices such as cinnamon and cloves delicately layered between the mostly red and some purple berry fruit. Redcurrant, blueberry, sweet pomegranate and Rainier cherry are strongly represented in this vintage. Over time, a fragrant hint of heritage rose unfolds. The oak tones are centred on gingerbread, hazelnut, cigar, sandalwood and something like grilled red pepper. On the palate, it offers a nice weight without heavy glycerin and an acidity flush that supports the wine's natural energy, brightness and viscosity. This pronounced freshness gives the wine a long ageing potential, but it needs to be given more time in the bottle." Wine Advocate

The grapes for the deep Le Vigne come from Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba (for power), Villero in Castiglione Falletto (for precision), Vignane in Barolo (for purity of aromas) and Merli in Novello (for richness of fruit). It opens wide with aromas of fresh red fruits and a delicate spicy note. Very intense on the palate, remarkably elegant, fine-grained tannins, exceedingly clear, structured and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Immensely fragrant with floral-spicy notes, almost pinot-like with small red fruits, light cherries, redcurrant, touch of orange peel. Very lively in the mouth with creamy tannins and juicy as well as surprisingly good freshness for the warm and dry vintage. Firm, still slightly dusty tannin, but healthy and fine-pored. Animatingly fresh, berry-like final. Needs at least 3 hours of air." Weinwisser
"Bright, radiant ruby garnet with a delicately lightening rim. In the nose clear of ripe raspberries, rose hips, in addition some roiboos, in the background fine earthy notes. On the palate radiant and with tight, salty tannin, stretches wide open, plus salty undertone, swinging." Falstaff
"Lustrous medium ruby. Finely perfumed and youthful on the nose with just a touch of complex oak. Lively raspberry and sour-cherry fruit layered with fine tannins. Very fine and fragrant and still a little subdued. Lots of refreshing acidity." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Barolo Le Vigne is a mid-weight, tightly wound wine, with a classic sense of austerity that will need at least a few years in bottle to start softening. Red cherry fruit, white flowers, mint and chalk lend brightness and tension throughout. In 2018, the blend of vineyards is Baudana, Villero, Vignane and Merli." Vinous
"Camphor, violet, red berry and oak-driven spice are front and center on this fragrant red. Elegantly structured and vibrant, the focused palate delivers juicy red cherry, crushed strawberry, star anise and a hint of mocha alongside taut, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced." Wine Enthusiast
"A taut red, with alluring aromas and flavors of rose petal, strawberry, cherry, tea and graphite fused to an elegant frame. Reveals its structure on the long finish, where there's plenty of fruit in the end. Delivers terrific balance and harmony." Wine Spectator
"The delicate mix of creamy red berries and savory, truffley notes keeps your nose glued to the glass. And that subtlety is carried over into the medium-to full-bodied palate, where there’s a youthful balance of silky fruit and lightly firm tannins that drives gently through the long finish. Subtle is the word, but excellent is the verdict. So tempting to drink now, but give it a couple of years." James Suckling
"Made with fruit from Cannubi Boschis, the Luciano Sandrone 2018 Barolo Aleste is plump and ripe, but this wine also shows a more delicate character that is its ace card. The aromas are filigreed and fine with dark fruit, spice and licorice. The effect is integrated, and the wine shows a lovely, softer personality to balance out this mildly concentrated expression." Wine Advocate
"An extra-ordinary Barolo, which recalls the old custom of blending from different areas: vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Barolo and Novello with a mix of soils. A wine of freshness, nose of red currant, hints of chinotto and eucalyptus, with licorice root finish. The mouth is dense and tense, with salty-sapid tannins and a balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

"The Barolo DOCG Margheria comes from the calcareous soil with a slightly higher proportion of sand than in our other sub-areas, which has a strong influence on its character. It was produced for the first time in 1985 and has great ageing potential. The grapes come from our vineyard in the MGA Margheria in Serralunga d'Alba." Franco Massolino
Barolo Margheria is very refined and elegant, but also classically austere, like so many top wines of the 2019 vintage. Bright red berry fruits, wild flowers, mint, blood orange, rose petals and cinnamon adorn this very beautiful, nuanced Barolo. Margheria is medium-bodied, and despite its austerity, it is very pretty, not to mention incredibly inviting. It will be even better in a few years when the tannins soften. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich garnet red colour with a fine shimmer. Presents itself on the nose with notes of graphite and salt varnish, then rose petals and raspberry. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, expands powerfully, then a little rough on the final." Falstaff
"Beautiful shiny medium ruby red colour. Firm, serious, mineral bouquet, cherry with notes of oatmeal and iodine. Multi-layered. Juicy, compact cherry with spectacular, crunchy tannins. Great, tactile fruit finish and fantastically balanced." Jancis Robinson
"The Barolo Margheria 2020 is a very beautiful wine that shows the softer side of the year. Dried herbs, menthol, incense, new leather and liquorice take shape in the glass. The 2020 is a soft, atypically open Margheria that is easy to drink with minimal cellaring time." Vinous
"This Barolo from Margheria is a stunning expression of elegance, with captivating, high-toned fruit and delicate hints of strawberry. The palate is refined and graceful, with fine-grained tannins and delicious acidity enhancing the pure, precise flavours. This wine is a true embodiment of finesse and an outstanding example of the potential of this cru." Wine Enthusiast
"This ripe red wine is characterised by aromas of cherry, raspberry, plum and eucalyptus, with a hint of liquorice and iron. It firms up in the mid-palate, leaving a compact but complex finish that reflects the fruity and spicy notes." Wine Spectator
"I like the freshness and lively red-fruity character. Medium-bodied with firm, slightly chewy tannins. It is compact and structured with an exciting and lively aftertaste. Vibrant and bright, with hibiscus undertones in the orange and berry flavours. Try it from 2027, but it's already very nice now." James Suckling
"The Massolino 2020 Barolo Margheria is a classic expression. You get all those pretty Serralunga d'Alba elements with dark fruit, ferrous earth, orange peel and blue flower. I find this warm vintage to be especially fine-textured and elegant. There is a note of sweet cherry on the close. This bottle needs to flesh out with more cellar time." Wine Advocate

"Bright ruby-garnet colour. Very appealing and open nose with notes of pomegranate, cherries and raspberries. Grippy tannins enveloped by fine melting, builds up very well over the course, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Still quite closed and more spicy than fruity. The palate is much more open with lush, supple, fresh fruit and gripping tannins on the finish. Pretty great." Jancis Robinson
"A lively bouquet of tart red cherries, juicy raspberries and delicate purple petals greets your senses when you discover this Barolo. On the palate, a solid fruit core is complemented by well-structured tannins that promise a fascinating development. This harmonious interplay of lively acidity and depth demonstrates the fascination of Nebbiolo." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Parussi 2020 is an elegant, nuanced wine. It shows lovely textural depth and resonance, but in the mid-weight style of the year. Dark red cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint and spice all build beautifully and fill out the layers effortlessly. The 2020 is weightless and elegant, with the understated textural depth that is so typical of this vintage." Vinous
"Vibrant red fruit with subtle floral and citrus notes and a hint of crushed stones. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured and focused with a lingering, expanding aftertaste. Impressive density. Taste after two to three years." James Suckling
"The 2020 Barolo Parussi is a stunner. The wine is radiant and bright with an especially direct and focused quality. I would describe it as razor-sharp. This adds to a general sense of fine polish and tightness. I can't get enough and I can't wait to see where it goes 10 or 20 years from now." Wine Advocate

"This is a densely built red wine with aromas and flavours of flowers, cherries, iron, earth and scrub. It is powerful, with the austerity characteristic of the vintage and a strong grip on the finish. The tannins give it a compact feel on the finish, but it lingers with a core of pure fruit." Wine Spectator
"This wine begins shy but turns it out quickly with aromas of warmed cherries, fresh wildflowers, anise, clove and black tea. The balanced palate reveals a core of fruit with savory and earthy elements in support, all resting on a foundation of polished tannins and vibrant acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Very aromatic with hibiscus, crab apple, orange blossom and ripe strawberries on the nose. Full-bodied, very layered and powerful, yet it remains very finely structured with an intense finish. A little more structured than before." James Suckling
"The 2019 Barolo Le Vigne is a pure and total seduction. Cherry, sweet pipe tobacco, mint, cedar, dried herbs and orange peel adorn a Le Vigne built on a medium-bodied structure and energy. A sense of youthful classicism and austerity that is so beguiling. harvestshould be patient, though. "The 2019 Barolo Le Vigne is a historic blend of fruit from Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba, Villero in Castiglione Falletto, Vignane in Barolo and Merli in Novello. The backbone of this wine is Baudana, and Merli gives it freshness. The wine still needs some time in the bottle, but already it shows generosity and boldness with dark fruits, spices and crushed minerals." Wine Advocate
"An impeccable Barolo that takes up the custom of blending from different areas: Serralunga d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Barolo and Novello vineyards, raspberry on the nose, hints of chinotto and eucalyptus, liquorice root on the finish. In the mouth density and tension, salty-spicy tannins, balsamic finish." Luca Gardini
"Bright, noble ruby red with a discreetly lightening rim. In the nose initially noble earthy notes of truffle, then candied cherry, a hint of sealing wax, anchovies, rosemary, reverberating on graphite. On the palate with compact tannin, very punchy, comes along in many layers, endlessly long, salty and juicy." Falstaff

Tasca d'Almerita recalls the first vintage of their legendary Rosso del Conte from the San Lucio vineyard with this lush Riserva del Conte. Ruby red, the aromas of berries, cherries and spices have wonderfully taken the wood into their midst. A lively taste, dense tannins and an endless finish complete the perfect picture. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. Restrained, yet balanced nose, appears multilayered, albeit filigree. On the palate very juicy, dense, with clear fruit and tightly meshed enveloping tannin, shows elegant pressure, builds up in many layers, great length and finesse." Falstaff
"Deep crimson. A little less immediate and floral than the normal 2016 with brooding fruit and touches of dark spice. Tightly wound and still very embryonic fruit palate with vibrant, almost linear acidity. The fruit slowly unfurls on the palate over a rich layer of polished, fine tannins. Finely balanced but in need of much more time." Jancis Robinson
"The 2016 vintage was characterised by a mild and dry winter, a cool spring and a summer with well-distributed rainfall. Summer temperatures were not very high and ensured a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Grapes were harvested on 29 September. 'The vintage was deemed worthy of being sealed in numbered bottles,' said Corrado Maurigi, estate manager. The wine is extremely youthful with a vinous, violet character. Vibrant red cherry fruit dominates over a balsamic whiff, with a floral bouquet in the background. Silky first, then velvety, it's a precise and crisp wine - although lacking layers at the moment due to the youthfulness." Decanter
"The 2016 Riserva del Conte Vigneto San Lucio keeps you at the edge of the glass, with a dark yet gorgeous display of licorice-tinged currants and plums complemented by notes of stone dust, mint and hints of spiced orange. This is elegance personified, casting a polished display of black cherries across a core of vibrant acidity, complementary notes of sour citrus and wild herbs mounting toward the close. You hardly notice its tannic heft until the very end, as this tapers off with harmony, showing classically dry, persistent yet still so enjoyable, even at this young stage. That said, the best is truly yet to come, and collectors will benefit from cellaring this for at least another three to five years." Vinous
"Only made in the best vintages, the Tasca Conti d'Almerita 2016 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Riserva del Conte Tenuta Regaleali sees its fruit sourced from the Vigneto San Lucio in a classic winemaking subzone on the western side of the island. Made with a blend of the indigenous grapes Perricone and Nero d'Avola, the wine is streamlined and elegant with enormous persistence that can be counted in many long minutes. The bouquet shows dried cherry, plum, leather and a touch of scorched earth or grilled rosemary. This is a spectacular wine that sits at the top of the Sicilian wine pyramid. I love the mineral interlude with granite and crushed slate that appears on the close." Wine Advocate

"This is one of the 50 wines that have changed Italian wine culture." Gambero Rosso
Siepi 2020 impresses even at a young age with its volume, fruit and richness. It is made from equal parts Merlot and Sangiovese and both grapes bring their best qualities to the blend. The Sangiovese grape shows a distinct personality with localised notes of small berries and spices and also offers a wonderfully fresh acidity. Merlot plays a strong role in the background, adding softness, fullness and richness. Siepi is an intense, powerful wine that has a terrificarc of tension, ranging from its highly attractive extract sweetness to polished tannins in a fresh, savoury finish with an interesting salty note. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Siepi 2020 consists of half Sangiovese and half Merlot. The former is matured in large wooden barrels, the latter in 70% new barriques. On the nose, the Siepi has a very finely honed and clear Sangiovese fruit, with a purist face and excellent depth. In the mouth, too, the Merlot appears to have little aromatic presence. Rather slender and full of finesse on the tongue, the Siepi is clearly defined and very elegantly differentiated." Weinwisser
"Black cherry and blackberry, wrapped in a coat of toasted, resinous oak. Cedar and iron notes give the wine depth on the long finish. It opened up after an hour in the glass and showed its polish, but still needs time to absorb the oak." Wine Spectator
"Dark ruby colour with a drop of violet. On the nose, rich cherry fruit, blackberries, fine chocolate and leather, delicately characterised, exciting. Expressive and radiant on the palate, with compact, dark berry fruit and polished, creamy tannins, without denying its Tuscan roots, grippy and powerful on the finish." Falstaff
"Transparent carmine red colour with a pale rim. Penetrating, ripe aroma, probably due to the Merlot, but without too much sweetness. The palate shows the spice and vibrancy of the Sangiovese. But these two elements already seem to be beautifully combined with a slight hint of tea. Long. Already a really beautiful expression of the fruit of the Tuscan hills. Good balance between freshness and ripeness." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Siepi is stylish, elegant and highly polished. Dark blue fruits, lavender, new leather, cloves and mocha blend together effortlessly. The 2020 is characterised by a precision that is incredibly inviting. Nevertheless, the 2020 is still very young and does not fully express its potential. It simply needs time to develop, but all the elements are there." Vinous
"The nose balances dense, fiery aromas of grilled meat, pepper and gunpowder with lighter, friendlier notes of cherries and wild berries. The berries take a leading role on the palate, but the spicy smokiness lingers as an assertive undertone, leading into a hot finish. Tannins have grit without being rustic, emphasizing a saliva-inducing savoriness throughout." Wine Enthusiast
"Dried herbs and sweet spices on the nose, forest notes with blackberry fruit, concentrated and expressive. On the palate, the tannins glide gently over the tongue and give the sweet strawberry, raspberry and plum fruit time to develop in the mouth, while the acidity provides a pleasant mouthfeel. This wine is very lively and vibrant - it shouts loudly for its energy. It feels extremely good, with clear definition, finesse and balance. Such a marvellous fruit profile, the high-toned strawberry and cherry, bright and penetrating, but also round and generous with tobacco and wood nuances. The fine but present tannins are very present and give grip. All in all, an exceptionally beautiful wine. I love it. It offers an immediate and youthful pleasure, but it will continue to age well." Decanter
"Graphite and pencil come through, along with violets and blackberries. Also some tar and tarmac. Full-bodied, but creamy and crisp, with agile liveliness that lasts for minutes. Fabulous length. Drinkable now, but it will continue to mature for decades." James Suckling

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2020 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with vines that are almost 50 years old. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening flavour. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures all the best that the vintage has to offer. Cherry, sweet mint, candy and expressive floral notes are given an extra kick of inner sweetness by Ravera's natural energy. There is so much to look forward to as the wine develops over the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Beguiling bouquet of dark forest fruits and cherries, herbal notes; precise attack, the tannins extremely fine and silky, the acidity and mineral components provide the balance. Outstanding style!" Vinum
"Dark, sparkling ruby with garnet-coloured tendencies. Elegant, fruity-floral bouquet of roses and ripe wild berries, backed by fine wood spice and meadow herbs. Fine fruit melt on the palate, with a compact fruit core and firm tannins, very exciting and incredibly long." Falstaff
"Brilliant, medium ruby red colour. Raspberry and salty, mineral notes and hints of eucalyptus with aeration. Compact and a little closed, but with sensual acidity leading the cool, fresh fruit. Long, deep, chewy tannins that need a few more years to settle. Great depth of fruit on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"A precise style, more reductive than oxidative, with a rich fruitiness reminiscent of raspberry jam, floral notes, black pepper and liquorice. Fresh, with velvety, slightly chewy tannins in the mid-palate that lead into a chocolaty finish." Decanter
"Gravel stones, raspberries, liquorice and allspice on the nose. It's lively, dense and minerally with a medium to full body and firm, tight and steely tannins. Leave it to mature." James Suckling
"The Elvio Cogno 2020 Barolo Ravera is a lush and fleshy expression with dark fruit, dried cherry, plum, sweet orris root, earth, toast and dark spice. The wine is quite firm, and there is a lovely sense of richness that coats the palate." Wine Advocate
"This aromatic red wine exudes spicy and savoury notes of eucalyptus, juniper, rosehip, bergamot and white pepper. The flavours of cherry, iron and tobacco follow in the long finish." Wine Spectator
"A Barolo with temperament and character. Fresh aromas, nectarine, redcurrant, then laurel, rounded off with nuances of nutmeg. Mouthfeel with citrus sensations, clementine, savoury, taut and crisp, with hints of yellow fruit." Luca Gardini

“Caiarossa” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
The world-famous Caiarossa is an extremely exciting blend of the Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Alicante varieties, with the rich, dark fruit flavours of the Cabernet grapes taking centre stage. On the nose, a beautiful first wave of dark fruits that never appear too ripe, which greatly benefits the elegance of the wine. The palate is very balanced and focussed with blackberries, cassis and slight hints of salty or rusty minerals. Caiarossa displays a good degree of elegance, not least due to its fine and taut tannins, and despite its density and complexity never comes across as opulent or even overloaded. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, rich colour. Sweet, intense and savoury, the Caiarossa 2020 has a deep and generous aroma, with lots of Cabernet character and a little Syrah fragrance. Rich, sweet, raisiny style. Melting, round and velvety in the mouth, its dense tannins remain present for a long time, as it does not have the aromatic richness of the past two years. It seems a little hollow in the centre, yet it has a lovely texture on the tongue, is long and spicy, racy and has lively acidity. Due to its great diversity of grape varieties, it has an extraordinary complexity, yet it is somewhat less rich and sweet than expected. Still has room for improvement!" Weinwisser
"Dark ruby red colour with fine violet reflections. Fine spice on the nose, cheese rind, cassis, blackberry, some mint, plus fine earthy tones and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate with a creamy entry and progression, dense and tightly meshed, shows juicy tannins, spans a wide arc, comes back again and again juicy and powerful, long." Falstaff
"Very dark, impenetrable purple red colour. Elevated nose of black forest fruits with a pinch of oak and a hint of damson plum. Supple black forest fruits and raspberries and just enough acidity to keep the overall tension. More medium-bodied than full-bodied. Long, fine-grained tannins that are a little bitter and noticeable on the finish, but this will improve with further bottle age." Jancis Robinson
"Offers a combination of blackcurrant, blackberry and clay flavours, with hints of iron and tobacco, supported by dense tannins that leave a burr on the finish." Wine Spectator
"On the nose, dark fruits and berries are balanced with the fresh lightness of white pepper, mint and eucalyptus. On the palate, notes of vanilla and dark chocolate emphasise the juicy breadth of the fruit, but a sharp, peppery finish provides a thought-provoking contrast and leads to a meditative finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The Caiarossa 2020 Caiarossa is one of the Italian wines closest to Bordeaux both in DNA (the estate is French-owned) and winemaking. This is a full-bodied red with a bold and very exuberant personality. There is balance and depth with plenty of purple and black fruits, spice and oak toast to add dimension and complexity." Wine Advocate
"Fragrant herbs and warm, sun-kissed black fruit on the nose - no wonder, as it was the warmest summer since 1800, but with plenty of rain in June and late August, which allowed the grapes to ripen well. It smells of baked blackcurrants and roses. It is supple and rich, generous and filling, with wonderfully plump but also quite defined tannins that give it structure and tension. The fruit is tangy and ripe, and the acidity creates a tension between sharpness and ripeness. The wine is round, direct and forward, it has energy and structure, and I love the freshness that lingers on the tongue. Well executed with plenty of perfume and a mineral, stony grip on the finish alongside dried herbs and liquorice spice. A delicious Tuscan wine with a French flair." Decanter
"Aromatic with dried cherries and plum skins as well as spiced chocolate, lilac, walnut shell and nutmeg. Also some wet stones. The palate is full, structured and broad with super-fine tannins. It is powerful but not heavy with freshness and crispness. It shows intensity and richness. Give it time." James Suckling
"The 2020 Caiarossa is the best wine I've tasted from this estate in some time, perhaps ever. Rich, deep and yet not at all heavy, the 2020 offers an exotic blend of dark cherry/plum fruit, mocha, liquorice, new leather and incense. All the elements are so beautifully balanced." Vinous

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO) · 3 bottles in OWC
After much anticipation, today we present the second vintage of an exceptional Sangiovese from Querciabella's single vineyard Ruffoli.
Back in 2007, the winery embarked on the cru project with the aim of emphasising the natural elegance and vitality of Sangiovese and the essential value of what the Latins call the "genius loci". What began as an experiment and a challenge evolved into years of constant but calculated work to identify the best vineyards in Chianti Classico. The best winemaking and ageing methods were then applied to enhance the particular influence of the origin on the texture, flavour and character of the wine.
The altitude of over 500 metres above sea level identified in this way gives the wine great depth, balance and brilliant acidity. This great Sangiovese acidity combined with well-ripened tannins, excellent structure and just as much flavour make 2018 one of the most balanced vintages of the last decade. The slow maturation in wood for around 18 months reinforces the site-specific identity of the grape variety and brings a Chianti Classico to the glass that deserves the designation Gran Selezione like no other. SUPERIORE.DE
"Again focuses on the charming side with plenty of sweet fruit and a velvety drinking flow, with herbal notes alongside the red berry fruit flavours." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red colour. Nose of precious wood, rich wild berries, citrus, cherries, toast, liquorice, eucalyptus, after some time coconut. Polished on the palate, with juicy, tightly meshed tannins and well-developed fruit, currently still with some wood overhang, coconut on the final." Falstaff
"Medium garnet red colour and a hint of oak on the nose. The particularly ripe fruit belies the extremely appetising character of the carefully selected Sangiovese parcel from which this wine comes. Notes of chestnuts and still quite a lot of tannin." Jancis Robinson
"This is my first tasting of a Gran Selezione from Querciabella. The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Querciabella sources its fruit from the Ruffoli estate in Greve in Chianti, whose vines are planted on slate-rich galestro and sandstone soils at a cool altitude of 500 metres. This vintage is open and accessible, with warm fruit, tobacco, gravel and dried roses. There is a hint of soft, ripe cherry." Wine Advocate
"Sweet plums and damsons with a balsamic note. Juicy and delicate with fine-grained tannins that frame the wine beautifully." Decanter
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2018 is a powerful, dense wine. The frost in 2017 affected the potential yield of the next vintage, which probably explains the sheer intensity of this wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, leather and sage all saturate the palate. The wine has tremendous creaminess and depth. I can't wait to see how the 2018 ages, as it's a pretty big wine by Querciabella standards." Vinous
"This wine has aromas of dark plum, peach, bay leaf, mint and vanilla. It is medium to full-bodied with a deliciously complex palate. Beautiful interplay of stone fruit, herbs and spices. Long and elegant, with very fine and concentrated tannins. Fantastic purity." James Suckling
"The second vintage of an ambitious project, from the only Ruffoli vineyard cultivated using biodynamic methods, an exceptional Gran Selezione. Wild plum on the nose, with notes of chinotto and bay leaf, then nutmeg. Spicy on the palate, with a fruity, citrusy finish and a long finish." Luca Gardini

"Of purist beauty. Finely spiced nose, autumn leaves, hibiscus and rose petals, red berries. Well-dosed power, fine grip with gripping tannins, perfectly integrated into a certain fullness, juicy blood oranges and ripe raspberries, keeps the balance and finesse beautifully, lingers for an incredibly long time." Weinwisser
"Linear bouquet, complex and yet seductively elegant; full-bodied, the ripe acidity and fine-grained tannins in balance, the finish is incredibly long with numerous fruity and balsamic nuances. Fun on its own, but also a perfect accompaniment to powerful dishes." Vinum
"Crimson red. Really very splendid. The appetising nature of Sangiovese is evident here with real breadth and depth. The tannins are present, but only in the background and the acidity is perfectly balanced with the savoury fruit. No excessive sweetness. Already subtle and satisfying. But this wine will certainly have a long life too. Really complete and beautiful." Jancis Robinson
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Querciabella 2019 offers additional density and richness in the form of blackcurrants, spices and floral earth. The wine is very concentrated, has a soft texture and a dry, mineral flavour on the finish. It is classic in presentation and accessible in approach." Wine Advocate
"This red wine has matured considerably and offers intense aromas and flavours of cherry, raspberry, plum, earth and tobacco. The tannins are well integrated yet firm, while the finish picks up notes of wild herbs and minerals. It shows excellent power, balance and complexity." Wine Spectator
"It is attractive with fresh flavours of cherries and raspberries as well as ground cloves, hazelnuts and crushed stones. Full and structured with chalky tannins that are crisp and lively. Steady and mineral on the finish." James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2019 is brilliant. Blue and violet fruits, lavender, mint and liquorice come together in this exquisite, elegant Gran Selezione. All elements are wonderfully balanced. The 2019 is a blend from vineyards in Ruffoli (Greve)." Vinous

Barolo “Conteisa” DOCG 2019
Its rich bouquet exudes the sweet scent of red cherries and an elegant blend of flowers, mint, spices and liquorice. The flavour is velvety and inviting, with a perfect balance of powerful fruit, integrated tannins and beautifully balanced acidity. The charisma and complexity are overwhelming. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, brightening ruby-garnet colour. Very closed on the nose, emphasised mineral notes, then some raspberry and juicy, fresh cherry. Fine-meshed tannins in the attack, builds up in a multi-layered way, good tension, rich pressure in the final." Falstaff
"Almost medium ruby red in colour. Brooding and still quite restrained on the nose, with savoury, spicy and salty notes. Very elegant on the palate, but tightly meshed. Fresh, almost a little racy acidity and plenty of enveloping tannins, which become more prominent on the finish and need more time. Long and concentrated, but still lagging behind." Jancis Robinson
"A powerful and tannic wine with aromas and flavours of mushrooms, wild flowers, bark and black tea. Full and chewy. This is a young Nebbiolo that needs time to mellow." James Suckling
"Earthy and spicy, with flavours of cherries and raspberries underscored by iron, white pepper and eucalyptus. Firm and straightforward, this wine finishes with a sinewy feel, despite its superb balance and refined texture. Super long aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The wine opens with aromas of warmed cherries, wild thyme, rose and mixed spices. On the palate, it presents preserved mixed berries, Pu'er tea, aniseed and a crushed stone minerality. Balanced with fine but firm tannins and a lively acidity that keeps the palate fresh and delicious." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Conteisa 2019 is breathtaking. A wine of grace, power and finesse, the 2019 is instantly captivating. Crushed flowers, cinnamon, red berry fruit and rose petals are enveloped by silky La Morra tannins that emphasise its finesse. The harvestwill find an exquisite Barolo with enormous class. The 2019 is simply sublime." Vinous
"The Gaja 2019 Barolo Conteisa is a smooth operator with forest floor, dried fruit, autumn leaf and pickled plum from Japan with elements of both saltiness and sweetness. Conteisa goes for the high notes with floral tones, violet and something brittle like a laurel leaf. Its texture is very silky and tight. The wine persists with a smooth and long tenor.!" Barolo “Aleste” DOCG 2017 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
"This is our flagship wine, a Barolo recognised the world over, which we have always nourished and cared for with greatest respect. Nothing will change. This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" with the 2013 vintage.
This Barolo is a masterpiece by Luciano Sandrone in every respect. Not only a historic product but also the only cru of the house from the renowned Cannubi area in Barolo. Rich ruby, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. On the palate with great suppleness, lots of fruit, dense tannins, very persistent final with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense ruby garnet. Seductive nose with rich notes of leather, ripe plums with deep yellow flesh, rosewood, some liquorice in the background. Hearty and gripping on the palate, spreads out richly, powerful body, lots of gripping, compact tannin." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby. Still a little compact but already showing great depth of fruit with hints of fresh mint, iron and oatmeal. Gorgeous juicy, full, red fruit with a rich layer of powdery tannins. Still a little embryonic, but sensationally balanced for this challenging year." Jancis Robinson
"Balsamic aromas and flavors of mint, eucalyptus and sage dominate the cherry and berry notes in this linear red. There is a contradiction and tension now between its graceful entry and dense, muscular finish. Nonetheless, this is long and finds an equilibrium in the end." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Aleste is a dark, ample wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, spice and licorice bring out darker tones of Nebbiolo. All the natural power of these parcels come through effortlessly. Best of all, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring." Vinous
"The purity and brightness of nebbiolo is so impressive here. Strawberries and blue fruit abound. Full-bodied, yet tight and very polished with a long, persistent finish. Very transparent and appealing." James Suckling
"Aromas of menthol, pressed rose, wild berry and grilled herb are front and center in this stunning wine along with a whiff of forest floor. Combining structure and finesse, the savory, full-bodied palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, blood orange and licorice before an espresso finish. Firm, refined tannins provide tight support." Barolo “Vite Talin” DOCG 2018 · in gift box
The history of Vite Talin goes back to 1987, when Luciano Sandrone found a vine in one of his vineyards whose grapes were just half the size of the other plants around it. Luciano decided to grow several shoots from this plant and distributed them across three of his vineyards. Today, now in its fourth vintage, Vite Talin is still one of the most spectacular reds in the entire Barolo appellation, with a total production of just 2,000 bottles.
Vite Talin is almost indescribable, it is a paragon of the opposites of transparency and power - and an unprecedented expression of a Barolo that cannot be compared with the usual standards of the region. Its complexity, the never-ending aftertaste and the linear intensity and extreme finesse at all levels require a very intensive study of this wine, which is ultimately rewarded in the most excellent way.
Intense ruby red with garnet-red reflections. On the nose, red berries, spices and a cornucopia of other flavours that only reveal themselves with further oxygenation. Fleshy, juicy, powerful and extremely precise and structured on the palate. At this still very young age, one can only imagine what it will become in further years of ageing in the bottle. A monument of a wine - even today - the tannins are soft, complex and captivating. This is the archetype of a Nebbiolo, which impressively demonstrates to every friend of the grape variety that it is not necessarily only the location, but also the nature of the grape and the subsequent intelligent ageing that makes it a true red and unforgettable royal wine of Italy. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby colour with a fine garnet sheen. Interwoven nose of fine tea, some incense, then lots of raspberry, some graphite and liquorice, the earthy notes dominate. Full-bodied and very dense on the palate, multi-layered tannins, gripping, but also with the necessary finesse, spans a wide arc, very long finish, balsamic." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Powerful, cherry-coloured bouquet with notes of white pepper, eucalyptus and salty hints. Smooth, polished and juicy on the palate with super-fine, long tannins that come in waves." Jancis Robinson
"The flavours of dark fruits, mushrooms, tar and asphalt come through clearly. It is medium-bodied with integrated and polished tannins and a savoury and juicy finish. It is already open and very drinkable, but it will age well." James Suckling
"Grown at the top of the Cannubi Boschis vineyard, this wine exudes aromas of black cherries, crushed raspberries, black tea and a blend of spices in the glass. On the palate, it is powerful, polished and well-crafted. The generous fruit shines through, while savoury herbs and compelling hints of earth shine through, giving an indication of how the wine will age." Wine Enthusiast
"A rich style for the vintage, this dense red shows aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries, earth, leather and wild herbs. Ripe and savoury, with a vibrant structure and a broad spectrum of tannins on the energetic finish. Still needs time." Wine Spectator
"The Barolo Vite Talin 2018 is a sexy, opulent Barolo. Juicy dark fruits, cloves, gravel, mocha and incense take centre stage. This dense yet medium-bodied Barolo will drink well with minimal cellaring time." Vinous
"The 2018 Barolo Vite Talin is a bigger Barolo with darker fruit, ample oak shadings and generous concentration. Overall, it is a wine of considerable fruit weight, and this richness is reflected in the grippy nature of the young tannins and the very plump and primary nature of the fruit. There is a note of dried Mediterranean herbs or something like a dried chilli pepper. You need time to tame this imperious tannin. Production is limited to 2,500 bottles." Wine Advocate

Deep ruby red, intense, fresh aroma of dark fruit with delicate roasted flavours. Complex and full-bodied on the palate, full-bodied, with balsamic notes, perfectly integrated tannins and a finely balanced fruity-spicy finish. An intense wine that doesn't want to be a lightweight and which shows off its power perfectly. SUPERIORE.DE
"In colour, the 2021 appears less dark and viscous than usual. The nose is deep and spicy, with a chocolaty richness, a lot of Merlot presence and aromas of bay leaf, rosemary and incense, as well as banana peel. Very youthful, reductive and full-bodied, very dense in the mouth, with seemingly blunt tannins, firmly fleshed out. The all-encompassing sweetness masks the subtle brittleness in its youth. Wiry acidity, a lot of tannin presence, plenty of wood and very little melting." Weinwisser
"Brilliant and impenetrable purple colour. Lifted, vibrant cassis, blackberry and blueberry flavours with a hint of dusty oak. Juicy and finely moulded around the cassis and blackberry fruit, with gripping tannins that need more time to settle down. The whole clearly expresses the excellence of this vintage." Jancis Robinson
"The Orma 2021 is a rich, heady wine. Juicy dark red plums, spice, new leather, mocha and menthol are beautifully interwoven. This lush, flamboyant wine offers a lot of immediacy and appeal." Vinous
"This wine is heady and voluptuous with a bouquet that brings out black fruits, plums, spices and floral notes of lilac and blue flowers. These flavours are released in waves of varying intensity. It is a proverbial food wine that calls for a dish with a high fat content. The freshness is there and it has a considerable fruit weight." Wine Advocate
"This red is broad and dense yet lively, with flavours of plum, blackberry, vanilla and chocolate shaded by toasted oak. A hint of rose lingers fresh and focused on the long, gripping finish. Balanced and complex." Wine Spectator
"Aromas of herbs such as basil and laurel with blackcurrants are followed by a full body with creamy and round tannins and many undertones of coffee beans and walnuts. Powerful, but not over the top. Velvety texture. Fine on the finish." James Suckling
"Spicy, brambly berry aromas with some dusty wood and chocolate notes are followed in the mouth by super-fresh acidity, introducing some ripe black fruits then a stony mid-palate. A fine web of silky tannins supports the fruit, while herbal and balsamic edges bring a sense of freshness and levity to the concentrated fruit. The finish is long, succulent and fresh, with some fresh and dried black fruits accompanied by spice and chocolate. Great balance." Decanter
"Bright ruby violet colour. Fragrant, floral, of wild berries and light-coloured resin, cassis, expressive, pure, inviting. Powerful on the palate, with lots of tannin, vibrant, finely juicy, currently still very young, will develop very well." Falstaff
"The great classic of the house, now a staple of the type. Blueberry notes on the nose, a hint of marjoram, cloves on the finish with a slight hint of undergrowth. Crisp and exciting on the palate, with salty-sour tannins, persistent and again with small black fruits." Luca Gardini

"The warm vintage shows itself in concentrated, wonderfully ripe fruit, but without going into over-ripeness. A duet of red and black cherries marry beautifully with the typical spicy and territorial notes. Concentrated and densely woven with initially somewhat powerful tannins that still need some time to fully integrate and round off. The assets, however, are very promising." Weinwisser
"Bright, radiant ruby garnet. In the nose great expression, of ripe raspberries, some rose hips, also reminiscent of wild strawberries, in addition noble leather and cigar box, reminiscent of graphite in the finish. Juicy and precise on the palate, opens with tension and a tightly woven tannin dress, swings along finely." Falstaff
"Mid Ruby. Great depth, precision and concentration, and vivid acidity framing the youthful raspberry fruit, which still needs to come out further on the palate. Firm but polished tannins. A finely balanced whole that still needs more bottle age. The subtlest of oak notes on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Fragrant purple flower, woodland berry and menthol aromas form the nose along with whiffs of spice. The elegant, medium-bodied palate offers juicy pomegranate, red currant and oak-driven spice set against an acidic backbone. Taut, fine-grained tannins leave a drying close." Wine Enthusiast
"Dried red berries and dried flowers, almost tobacco on the nose. Citrus and minty notes add character. Medium-to full-bodied, elegant and silky palate that thickens out with fine, creamy tannins as it progresses. Super texture to this, gently coating the palate. Rather firmer just at the end for now. Really refined and elegant." James Suckling
"An open-knit Barolo highlighted by plum, cherry, leather and tar flavors. Supple in texture before firming up, with dusty, refined tannins lingering on the finish. This should evolve nicely with some bottle age." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barolo Aleste is gorgeous, but also very quite today. There's terrific purity to the dark red/purplish fruit and a good bit of volume too, but readers will have to be patient. Bright acids and firm tannins lend energy. I admire the presence and texture here. The Aleste, from Cannubi Boschis, benefits from a site that can handle moisture. This is nicely done." Wine Advocate
"South-eastern side of the Cannubi hill, a great classic of Sandrone in its classic version of finesse and persistence. Black cherry on the nose, with hints of cinnamon and eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is juicy and dense, with a return of fruit and sweet spices, rightly tannic, with a nice balsamic tension." Luca Gardini

"Brilliant and of medium ruby colour. Deep, complex, brooding fruit with salty notes. Fantastic lightness combined with substance and energetic acidity. Long, polished and fine tannins. A finely tuned whole that needs more time." Jancis Robinson
"An integrated and well-crafted Barolo with floral and lemon zest in the cherry and strawberry aromas. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and a linear drive. Taut and muscular. Well formed." James Suckling
"This red tends more towards aromas of black cherries, blackberries and violets, with tar, tea and autumn forest accents lurking beneath the surface. It is firm, dense and lingers on the sinewy finish. Combines elegance with power, but needs time." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Barolo Aleste is another outstanding wine from Sandrone. Dark cherry, mocha, plum, liquorice and lavender all race across the palate. This racy but youthfully austere Barolo has a lot going for it. It has more density and a darker profile than the Le Vigne, a soloist in the Le Vigne orchestra, so to speak." Vinous
"Aleste is a contraction of the names Alessia and Stefano, grandchildren of the late Luciano Sandrone. With fruit from Cannubi Boschis, the 2019 Barolo Aleste shows important richness and structure. This is the proverbial Barolo with a capital B. It shows dense layers of dark fruits, cherries and spices. It shows sweet tannins and an impressive texture." Wine Advocate
"The nose of Aleste is beguiling and seductive with aromas of wild red and black fruits, cloves, anise, roses and wild herbs. Although generous, the wine holds back a little and asks you to cellar it. Black cherries, oolong tea, wild flowers and sandalwood show up on the palate in the most beautiful way." Wine Enthusiast
"Brilliant ruby grant, with a luminous core and delicately brightening rim. Fine, delicately stony scent on the nose, very discreetly of ripe raspberries, sugared cherries and fine earthy tones. On the palate very compact and very powerful, with rich, grippy tannin, comes along in very many layers, enormous length and structure, currently still a bit young on the finish." Falstaff
"Southeast side of the Cannubi hill, a great Sandrone classic with finesse and persistence. Black cherry on the nose, with hints of cinnamon and nuances of eucalyptus. The mouth is juicy and dense, with a fruity return and sweet spices, with lovely balsamic tension." Luca Gardini

Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with vines that are almost 50 years old. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening flavour. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures everything good that the vintage has to offer.

“San Floriano” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013 · 6 bottles in OWC
Brigaldara's Amarone Riserva is a wine born from the desire to interpret Valpolicella in its most original form. The strictly selected grapes that form its basis are chosen from the best vineyards in order to maximise the potential of the estate's own vineyards in Valpolicella.
Garnet red in colour, with aromas of preserved fruit, spices, sour cherries and hints of tobacco and cocoa. Brigaldara's Riserva is a large, concentrated "old-school" Amarone with a good dose of residual sugar and volatile acidity, which give the wine its unmistakable style and lend it plenty of complexity. This uncompromising and rich Amarone hits all the right notes: Mocha, old leather, smoke, tobacco and liquorice are just some of the exciting components of its long, personality-rich and distinctive finish. An energetic wine with a balance between fruit and power, which plays with its class and depth and has secured a place in the appellation's list of best wines thanks to its complex and deep tertiary flavours. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, shining, noble ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Elegant wood on the nose, ripe berry fruit, dried tomato, comes in several waves, incense, cherries, raspberries, very complex. Very elegant on the palate, with notes of black tea, tightly woven tannins, lots of juiciness and fruit, extremely elegant Amarone with plenty of verve." Falstaff
"Very dark ruby in colour. Interesting, dense and lifted nose of peppery cherry, damson and plum, with a hint of pine and creaminess from what I suspect is oak. Smooth and well balanced. Almost defies its 16%. On the palate, it doesn't come across as bulky, and it has the right amount of supple tannins. A little warmth on the finish, but without the often distracting sweetness that this type of wine usually has." Jancis Robinson
"This wine gracefully combines taut, sculpted tannins with a tarry minerality and a detailed flavour profile of dried cherries, plum jam, tobacco and cocoa nibs. Medium-bodied and silky on the palate, with an orange peel acidity that cleanses the finish." Wine Spectator
"A delicious, liquid Riserva with beautiful dried fruit and nutty, cedar-like influences. Also floral notes and dried peel. Full and silky, with a residue of red, savoury tannin coming through at the end. Very pretty now, but it will age for a long time." James Suckling
"Aromas of black plum and spice cake rise from the glass of this rich and heady Amarone. As the wine progresses, notes of dark chocolate and espresso follow through to dried thyme and violet notes. The rounded and rich tannins provide a structured and straightforward finish, while on the palate the tart red and dried black fruits mingle with sweet spices, leading to an earthy finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva San Floriano smolders up from the glass with a smoky blend of dried black cherries, blood orange and grilled herbs. This is a perfect mixture of elegance and purity, with silken textures and polished red fruits flowing across a lively stream of acidity. It’s youthfully dense and powerful yet also restrained, finishing with a web of fine-grained tannin that clamps down hard as hints of licorice and sour orange slowly taper off. It will take a good deal of time for the 2013 to come fully into focus, but it will be worth the wait. In 2013, the Riserva hailed entirely from the Case Vecie vineyard." Vinous

Barolo Cerretta DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
Barolo Cerretta is a dense, concentrated and energetic expression of Nebbiolo. Red and purple fruit flavours of cassis, dried cranberries and cherries set beautiful accents, but there is also plenty of room for the equally beautiful aromas of liquorice, campfire ash and candied orange peel that play such a deft supporting role. On the palate, it is a brilliant, polished wine with enough tannin to allow it to mature in the cellar for another 10 or 20 years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Enchanting perfume of raspberries and herbs, enveloped by chaste violet notes; pithy attack, robust tannins, long finish. Pleasing with its verve." Vinum
"Sparkling, medium-dense ruby garnet colour. Opens with notes of ripe plums, some dark bread crust, truffle and wild raspberry. Compact, present tannin in many layers, interspersed with sweet melting, firm pressure, full-bodied in the final." Falstaff
"Palish ruby. Spice, dark earth and minerally, salty notes over deep raspberry fruit. Impressive depth on the palate while the fruit is still a little backward. Very long with lots of supple acidity and a long grip of super-fine grainy tannins." Jancis Robinson
"Enticing aromas of cinnamon-dusted cedar and sandalwood intertwine with dried cherries, rose petals, and a hint of sage. This full-bodied wine boasts a firm structure, while the palate reveals blackberry and plum flavors. The chewy texture and intricate aromatics create a captivating and memorable experience that makes this wine worth the search." Wine Enthusiast
"The Giovanni Rosso 2020 Barolo Cerretta, with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, is quite generous and ripe, owing to sunny vintage conditions. It opens to a dark ruby color and pretty concentration with perfumes that are fine and elegant; they recall lavender, wild berry, plum and rusty nail. The Cerretta vineyard delivers a lingering sense of sweetness, and that becomes a signature for this wine. These results are immediate and up front." Wine Advocate
"Davide Rosso’s 2020 Barolo Cerretta is laced with sweet dark cherry, spice, lavender, cedar, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Medium in body, with compelling sweetness and inner perfume, the 2020 has much to recommend it. Readers will find an especially open Barolo that is typical of this sector in Serralunga, where the wines are a bit more forward and less potent than those from vineyards closer to the center of town. This is beautifully done." Vinous
"Pale ruby with a dark, complex and vibrant nose of prunes, roses, violets, balsamic, licorice and restrained peach peel. On the palate this is concentrated, with a full body, firm yet ripe tannins and crisp acidity. Overall more powerful than elegant, but very refined in the finish. It could use a bit more depth, but with bottle aging it will increase in complexity." James Suckling

"Classic, delicate colour with an orange rim. It has a youthful nose, fragrant and delicate, with some marzipan and nutty sweetness, less intense than in 2018. With a beautiful juicy style, it presents itself dense and clear on the palate, broad, very harmonious and classically tannic, less fruity than expected. Rather, it appears like a masculine Serralunga with a firm handshake and shows a dense tannic flavour on the finish, very long and balanced." Weinwisser
"Concentrated and delicately perfumed at the same time. Raspberry fruit with a hint of orange. Juicy raspberry fruit on the palate with plenty of supple acidity and beautiful, enveloping tannins that absorb the lush fruit. Complete." Jancis Robinson
"Bright ruby-garnet colour with a shiny core. Deep nose, earth and iron, delicate herbal notes, very subtle hints of raspberry, appears cool, like cold wax. Very full-bodied on the palate, with pronounced, tightly woven tannins, present, long final, juicy on candied oranges." Falstaff
"The 2019 Barolo Cerretta is soft, delicate and classy. Dried rose petal, cinnamon, blood orange, mint and dried flowers fill out the layers. This effortless, layered Barolo opens nicely with a bit of time in the glass. There's gorgeous resonance and plenty of class here." Vinous
"Baked strawberries and pink flowers on the nose, scented fruity, floral and herbal - lifted and full of aromatic intensity. Supple and charming from the start, intensely juicy - the acidity adds a tangy, sharp note to the cherries and raspberries, while the tannins coat the mouth with a fine powder and support the red berry fruit. Round, generous, bright and really well delineated, you can feel the sinew of this wine, it has muscle but is soft and moulded. A core of savoury minerality, wet stones and olives give the wine a spicy balance and add complexity and interest. A beautiful, elegant glass of wine with nuance." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino “Ugolaia” DOCG 2017 · 6 bottles in OWC
Ugolaia is a 1.7-hectare, south-west-facing plot with a view of the sea, where the temperature fluctuations between day and night are considerable. The estate's oldest vines grow here on red iron soil.
Lively, full red colour. Cool notes of watercress and mint complement fresh red cherries and crunchy chocolate-covered redcurrants. Rich, subtly sweet and very supple on the palate, with a juicy brightness that highlights the excellent cut and clarity of its red fruit and floral flavours. The characterful finish is refreshing with its lingering violet flavour. Very polished and velvety at the same time, a great wine every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful berry nose, spiced up with notes of pepper and leather; the attack is compact, the tannins robust, the acidity noticeable, has fullness, power and juice. The beguiling final completes the perfect impression." Vinum
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Mineral and brooding on the nose and still quite closed. Lots of soft yet spicy fruit. Still somewhat powerful at the moment, but very promising and with firm but very fine tannins. Long, complex and juicy finish. Stunning, but still far from mature." Jancis Robinson
"Rich ruby colour with a slightly brightening garnet rim. Inviting, rich nose with lots of fleshy fruit, cloves, blackberries and plums. Shows beautifully present fruit on the palate, round and balanced, grippy, dense tannins, lingers for a long time, full-bodied." Falstaff
"The Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia 2017 comes from a hot and very dry vintage and shows a dark garnet red colour with particular concentration and texture. The bouquet smells of dark fruits, baked plums and roasted spices. The Ugolaia is complex and rich, but despite the intensity of the vintage, the mouthfeel is of medium length and the wine finishes with a bright freshness." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia smells of dried roses and cherries as well as cinnamon and cloves in the glass. It feels almost velvety, with a dense wave of tart wild berries accompanied by a hint of sour citrus and balsamic spice. Nuances of plum and liquorice linger as the 2017 finishes structured, but not austere, with hints of mocha and redcurrant. The Ugolaia is another example of Lisini's success in this difficult vintage. Nevertheless, it will need a few more years to fully develop." Vinous
"Full-bodied with ripe and dried cherries, spiced plums, chocolate and blueberries, supported by polished tannins. Also well-integrated spices and dried flowers. Ripe and expansive, with a soft and supple texture that makes it very approachable and satisfying." James Suckling
"Lisini's single-vineyard selection shows its usual exotic side in 2017. It opens with an intoxicating blend of incense, juniper, pressed lilac and lavender. There's also that polished wood nuance that I associate with the wine's six months of ageing in chestnut barrels. On the palate, it is even denser than the estate's Brunello annata, showing flavours of myrtle and redcurrant underpinned by an appetising salty core. The powerful tannins require another year in the bottle, but are admirably voluptuous. Undoubtedly one of the successes of the vintage." Decanter
"The nose takes you to a forest cabin, full of savory, umami aromas of damp earth, leather and mushrooms, with sharper notes of balsamic and Luxardo cherries coming through. On the palate, the cherry element freshens and brightens, and is lifted by undertones of orange and anise, along with springy tannins and buoyant acid." Wine Enthusiast
"Lush and fruity, this red wine offers flavours of cherries, raspberries, eucalyptus, wild rosemary and minerals, supported by a lively acidity and dense, refined tannins. It offers a balanced overall picture with a long, tasty aftertaste characterised by fruity and mineral elements." Wine Spectator

Lavish Brunello Riserva with a bouquet of sweet black cherries, frankincense, liquorice and tobacco. The 2011 vintage brings incredible depth, immense fullness and a great personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"This hot and dry year has created a Riserva that, by Biondi-Sandi standards, is an unusually early source of drinking pleasure. Subdued, but very noble aromas of pickled red berries, also a touch of coffee beans, leaves and dried herbs. In the palate densely woven, with fine-grained tannin and beautiful enamel." Vinum
"Brilliant, rich ruby with a slight garnet edge. Compact, multi-layered nose with notes of raspberries, pickled cherries, some saffron. Fine-meshed tannin on the palate, unfolds with great elegance, fine cherry fruit, echoes for a very long time, salty." Falstaff
"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Deep yet locked nose hinting at ripeness. Gorgeous, chewy, minerally cherry fruit with lots of powdery tannins. Very long, fine and tannic for the moment, but a little more approachable than the normal BS 2011 Brunello, from what I remember." Jancis Robinson
"Aromas of plums and light caramel and hazelnuts. Full body, a solid core of fruit and chewy tannins. A little dusty now. Need a couple of years to soften." James Suckling
"The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva makes a bold and more articulate statement (compared to the 2012 Annata wine released at the same time). That extra year of aging has contributed to more powerful aromas of dark fruit, balsam herb and spice. There is extra fiber and texture here overall. This Riserva shows a higher degree of density and a tighter embroidery with dark fruit, spice and tobacco. Both 2011 and 2012 are warm vintages, and the wines produced do not boast the same level of bright acidity that you normally get from this estate. But, if there's one thing the wines of Biondi-Santi have demonstrated over the years, it is that they get better with time. Set this bottle aside in your cellar." Wine Advocate
"Dark red. Musky nuances give way to brighter red fruit, licorice and herbal aromas. Rich and dense, with flavors of red cherry and minerals lifted by hints of orange peel and bergamot, not to mention noteworthy but harmonious acidity. Finishes long with youthfully chewy tannins and lingering hints of violet. This strikes me as a slightly readier to drink version of Brunello Riserva from Biondi-Santi, but as always, it improves greatly with aeration so decant at least six hours ahead for maximum enjoyment." Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)
"Beautifully balanced, this opens with alluring scents of wild berry, rose, baking spice and whiffs of chopped herb. Seamlessly combining ripe fruit and the firm's trademark finesse, the bright elegantly structured palate delivers juicy wild cherry, crushed raspberry, white pepper and a hint of black tea framed in polished tannins and fresh acidity. It's already tempting but the best is yet to come."(Cellar Selection) Wine Enthusiast
