Barolo Brunate DOCG 2018
Luca Currado cultivates the Brunate Cru on the La Morra side of the vineyard (opposite the Barolo side) and this wine contains fruit from new plots. It convinces with an impressive aroma of red berries, cherries, wild herbs, mint, minerals and rose petals, rounded off by a hint of blood orange. On the palate we find a terrific softness and textural silkiness, this continues with hints of mint, liquorice and camphor ash for many minutes. Polished tannins round off this masterpiece into an extremely elegant Brunate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet raspberries and strawberries on the nose, as well as some chalky minerals. Full-bodied with a tight bead of fruit and mineral flavors that have a hand on the firm tannins and produce good focus and drive at the end. Needs time to integrate. Try from 2025." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Brunate is a deep, layered wine that is going to need at least a few years to come together. Today, the Brunate is quite primary and backward, but all the ingredients are there. Sage, menthol, licorice, dried flowers and spice build with a bit of coaxing." Vinous
"With fruit from La Morra, the mid-weight 2018 Barolo Brunate shows a pretty softness and a delicate side with dried rose, lilac and blue flower. The wine completes malolactic fermentation in barrique and is later moved into large oak casks for aging. This dual oak treatment is part of Vietti's secret recipe for producing the silky tannins and fine texture you taste here. A production of 4,493 bottles, the wine is recognized by that distinctive aromatic finale of licorice and balsam herb." Wine Advocate
"A refined, silky red marked by a mix of rose, strawberry, cherry, eucalyptus and white pepper aromas and flavors. Shows ample structure and fine intensity as this builds to a long, dusty, mineral-tinged finish. Harmonious, firm and fresh." Wine Spectator
"Municipality of La Morra, the south side of another prestigious cru, with calcareous-clay soil and the classic Marne of Sant’Agata. Plants of about 55 years that originate a wine with the nose of wild plum, then violet, ginger, pink grapefruit and licorice root. Sip with iodine tannins, with a return of the sensations of licorice." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna Schiena d’Asino” DOCG 2016
Schiena d'Asino is a small vineyard from which this fabulous Brunello is produced exclusively in excellent years. Schiena captivates with its richness and overall intensity and is endowed with a lot of energy and varietal purity. Sage, rosemary and a host of Mediterranean herbs open up first, followed by graphite, smoke, incense, dark spices and black stone fruits. Wild, intensely mineral notes underpin the fruit and capture the essence of the great site. For an exceptional wine, this Brunello remains remarkably light on its feet, yet it is an introspective, brooding wine that will need at least a few years to show all it has to offer. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, rich ruby garnet. Finely marked nose with notes of rose petals, some raspberry, fine spice in the background. Builds up richly on the palate, dark berry fruit, opens with grippy, dense tannin, still shows itself very young." Falstaff
"Developing mid ruby. Brooding and intense on the nose with hints of graphite and filled out by oak. Full mouth of juicy, spicy cherry fruit framed by bags of delicious, chewy tannins. Very long and deep and gorgeously balanced. Tactile fireworks. Ready now but will hold." Jancis Robinson
"A historic vineyard for the denomination and for the winery, which returns in a version of great concentration, aged in Alliers oak. Nose of wild plum, with touches of Mediterranean scrub and chinotto. Mouth with savory-salty tannins, finish with fruity return." Luca Gardini
"This is structured and muscular, yet in a toned and polished way. It’s full-bodied with a linear and racy nature, showing focused black-cherry, orange-peel and berry character. Flavorful and extremely long. Better after 2024." James Suckling
"Forest floor, violet and camphor aromas come to the forefront along with whiffs of toasted nut on this full-bodied red. It's elegant and structured, featuring dried cherry, tobacco and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins, while fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Give it time to fully develop." Wine Enthusiast
"A lithe, focused red, evoking strawberry, cherry, currant, spice and tobacco flavors. Shows intensity and grip, with accents of leather and licorice chiming in on the finish. Well-structured and lingers on the chalky, mineral aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Planted in 1978, the 1.2ha Schiena d’Asino plot boasts a southeast to southwest exposition reaching almost 400 metres above sea level on stony, clay soil. Long ageing in 16-hectolitre French oak casks is followed by a year in bottle before release. The 2016 surfaces from its shell slowly and beguilingly, bestowing dried lavender, sage blossom and mint with a heady suggestion of truffles. The rich, dark red-fruited palate is framed by sandy, dusty tannins. Some heat rises on the mid-palate but is soaked up by plush layers, finishing on a salty liquorice note." Decanter
"The late-release 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Schiena d'Asino captivates with a display of sweet smoke and crushed stone giving way to dusty black raspberry and savory herbs. It’s silky-smooth and cool-toned, peppering the senses with mineral-tinged woodland berries and hints of spice. Grippy tannins build toward the close, saturating the palate beneath red inner florals. This tapers off with heroic structure but also the primary fruits to balance. The 2016 Vigna Schiena d’Aine is a dark stallion of a Brunello that's packed full of potential." Vinous
"The Mastrojanni 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Schiena d'Asino (with only 6,000 bottles made) is a joy. This classic 2016 vintage was extremely kind to Sangiovese, but not all producers were able to harness this level of varietal purity, elegance and sheer energy. This soulful wine is indeed best characterized by its inner electricity. The "donkey's back," or Schiena d'Asino, is a special vineyard site where grapes enjoy long sun hours and cool nighttime temperatures." Wine Advocate

Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2018
The supremely potent Rocche di Castiglione is often referred to as the first "official" cru in the history of Langa (along with Bussia di Prunotto, both of which were released with the 1961 vintage). It confirms itself once again as the great classic of the house with the 2018 edition. Dark fruits, pressed lilac, blood orange, powdered liquorice, balsamic herbs, spices, iron ore and aniseed fit together perfectly like pieces of a puzzle. Then lush and racy on the palate, with silky tannins and a great depth and resonance that will continue to develop with time. SUPERIORE.DE
"A Barolo that starts broad and becomes more focused and linear on the finish. It offers aromas and flavours of cherry, plum, minerals, sandalwood and tar that permeate the supple texture, with all components present in the right proportions. Firm, refined tannins give it grip and it lingers beautifully in the mouth." Wine Spectator
"Lots of sweet wild strawberries come into your nose first, but wait for the beautiful, spicy orange peel note that will blow you away. Then mineral and spicy notes come into play. Full-bodied with intense wild fruit and citrus flavours that are already holding on to the slightly chewy tannins. This wine is still very young, but it is packed with bright, spicy-fruity flavours. Patience is called for. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is smooth, silky and flattering from the start. Lush and racy, with silky tannins, the Rocche has great depth and plenty of resonance that will develop over time. The 2018 is a particularly potent Rocche that will need a few more years to develop." Vinous
"From Rocche di Castiglione Falletto, another mythological site, with plants over 80 years old and a soil with bluish-yellow pouches. The nose has fresh notes, clementine peel, then red cherries and chamomile. Salty acidic tannins, nice persistence and juiciness, with citrus back." Luca Gardini
"This is one of my favourite wines from Castiglione Falletto. The Vietti 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is beautifully etched and sharp with a particularly delineated quality that is unusual in this vintage. The fruit comes from a small parcel of 8,000 square metres and, like the other wines in this Cru series from Vietti, it is aged for two years in oak barrels. The texture of the wine is beautifully soft and polished thanks to the carefully integrated tannins. Only 3,693 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Fuligni's 2019 Brunello shows balance and symmetry with plenty of primary vigour to ensure longevity in the cellar. The bouquet opens with dark plums, dried raspberries, spices, aniseed and grilled herbs - especially lavender and rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, with a complex weave of fruit, minerals and tannins. It is disempoweringly generous and has a subtle opulence, but never weighs down the palate. The powerful, refined tannins are finely powdered and the penetrating acidity radiates evenly but not obtrusively. Notes of liquorice, violets, blood orange and iron emerge at the end. Long-lasting and effortlessly confident, as you would expect from Fuligni! SUPERIORE.DE
"Pleasant appearance with a nose of black berries and flowers, also tobacco notes; powerful on the palate, the tannins robust, combines character with minerality and elegance. Can mature." Vinum
"Complex, deeply layered bouquet with dark cherry, earthy nuances, blue berries and a reassuringly cool vein. Super juicy palate, incredibly multi-layered with a very juicy vein, linear orientation, super spicy, vinified in the traditional style, lingers forever with herbal, dark fruity and floral notes. One of the best of the tasting!" Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby-garnet colour with a brightening rim. Aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose, very clear, some plums, a hint of leather in the background. Firm, dense tannins, shows a lot of tension and pressure, dark berry fruit on the finish, great development potential." Falstaff
"Ripe, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Slumbering nose with exotic spice notes on the nose. Still in its infancy, but polished with fine-grained tannins that need more time. Long, finely aromatic finish of cherries and raspberries. So supple and elegant and at the same time not unfocussed. Carries its 15 % effortlessly. Real substance, but not heavy." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, refreshing and complex, with flavours of cherry, plum, earth, leather and minerals. This red wine is lively, with notes of liquorice and tamarind. Best of all is the ripe fruit, supple texture and resonant tannins that extend to a white pepper finish." Wine Spectator
"The Fuligni 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is rich in dark fruit, balanced by spicy notes of tobacco leaf and cigar ash, and beautifully concentrated. After a short time, the bouquet reveals a floral intermezzo with dried rose petals and a tropical note of hibiscus. This wine shows many facets, all of which are very pleasant and work together. The tannins are dusty and finely structured with a hint of powdery cocoa on the finish." Wine Advocate
"Dusty and floral, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a fragrant blend of dried roses, cherries, mint and lavender candy. On the palate, it is elegant and seamlessly silky, enveloping the senses with ripe red berry fruits contrasted by a bitter hint of cloves. A core of vibrant acidity provides a beautiful balance, while a web of fine tannins saturates the palate and leaves a pleasant sensation of chewiness. The 2019 is classic through and through." Vinous
"This historic and reliable winery does not disappoint in 2019. It is expressive rather than austere and will reveal more with time. But the flavours - a striking fusion of chestnut forest and polished wood with fennel and spiced plums - are already so enticing. It fills the mouth with glossy red berries and pressed violets, and after an initial caress, the tight-knit tannins intensify on the palate and remain balanced in volume. A complex and detailed wine with great depth." Decanter
"Perfumed with aromas of sweet berries, fresh flowers and cedar wood, leading to a medium-bodied palate with firm and chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Very noble and structured. Extremely long. Give it time to open up." James Suckling
"Orthodox in flavour and vinification, a Brunello of intensity and tension. Notes of pomegranate on the nose, with hints of eucalyptus and juniper, then lemon thyme on the finish. Salty, juicy tannins on the finish, with balsamic notes and pomegranate." Luca Gardini

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM in gift box
The grapes for this remarkably Burgundian Gran Selezione come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25-hectare Chianti Classico vineyard, which was planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and is south-facing on old terraces. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and in the 2019 debut vintage, the winery succeeded in acquiring this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico region. The bottles are numbered and around 4,000 bottles and 50 magnums are bottled each year.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread, which combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich on the palate, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Wonderful ageing potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"The second vintage of Riecine's Gran Selezione is of captivating beauty. The fragrance plays between fresh red berry fruit and fine floral notes, cranberries and blood oranges resonate on the palate, silky, brilliant, gentle and demanding in character at the same time, has a lot of freshness and great depth, fabulous elegance with a hint of candied lavender flowers on the finish. Great cinema." Weinwisser
"Brilliant, lively ruby red colour. On the nose, initially candle wax, then ripe cherries and forest fruits, reminiscent of ripe watermelon, with a second aftertaste of dark spices, some sealing wax and leather. Compact and tightly woven on the palate, polished on the tongue, very juicy and deep, with a clear fruit final." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020 Vigna Gittori from the vineyards of Gaiole is aromatic, racy and very expressive. Crushed flowers, blood orange, white pepper and mint lend this medium-bodied, silky Gran Selezione a remarkable aromatic presence. The polished tannins round off the whole in style." Vinous
"The dense tannins of this red wine support flavours of cherry, raspberry, iron and eucalyptus. The lively acidity keeps it concentrated on the long-lasting finish. Still a little compact now, it should develop well over the next few years." Wine Spectator
"Presented in a handsome, redesigned bottle with a black wax capsule, the Riecine 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori takes a different approach to the hot vintage. It offers flavours that feel anything but overripe and in fact evoke cooler elements of wild berries, peat moss, perfumed violets, flint, campfire ash and crushed white pepper. With this more restrained ripeness comes more spice and texture from oak ageing. This wine shows a beautiful elegance." Wine Advocate
"Such purity and beauty with aromas and flavours of roses, peaches, citrus and cherries. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Crisp and refined. It lasts for minutes. So drinkable and beautiful now, but it will improve." James Suckling
"The latest, juicy novelty of the house, from the vineyard of the same name and refined vinification and maturation. Very balsamic on the nose, black cherry under spirits, wild rosemary and hints of nutmeg. The sip is iodised, with a fruity return and spicy sensations." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
The Brunello di Montalcino 2017 also lives up to the impeccable reputation that the winery has earned over the years. We experience here a profound and beautifully made Sangiovese that presents a powerful and lush fruit of black cherry and spicy plum at the beginning. On the nose, mild oak notes, smoke, tar and roasted nuts. As it progresses, gravel, dried herbs and some mint. This Brunello shows an elegant development in the glass and promises a very long ageing period. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark red; reductive fruit, barrel-aged; powerful, fruity, present good tannin, length." Merum
"Floral-fruity bouquet with notes of stone fruit and caramel, also herbs; juicy in the mouth, the tannins finely tart, the final skilfully balanced. Convinces with power and solid fruit." Vinum
"Regularly somewhat "bacony" in the savoury aroma with fine cedar, bacon notes and spices marked by wood ageing, behind wild berries, cassis and raspberries. Rich, pithy, dense palate, with a coarse-meshed tannin network that doesn't quite match last year's in quality. Substantial final." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red. In the nose slightly bacony hints, then ripe raspberries and cherries, shows nuances of light malt, leather. On the palate pithy and with delicately wide-meshed tannin, savoury fruit in the attack and course, still needs to find itself." Falstaff
"Lustrous deep ruby. Firm, deep cherry fruit on the nose and with an undertow of savoury spice. Lots of perfumed sour-cherry fruit on the palate and with bags of firm, but polished tannins on the finish. A bit austere right now, but with great length as well as potential." Jancis Robinson
"Masses of ashen earth, smoke, dusty cherry and roses with nuances of clove lift up from the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino. This is silky and pliant upon entry, presenting a rich display of intense red and hints of black fruits laced with chalky minerals that drenches the palate. Penetrating acidity and grippy tannins create a burst of cheek-puckering tension, clenching down hard with youthful poise, as notes of licorice and hard red candies linger through the structured, medium-length finale. That said, it needs time to unwind from its youthful state. Production was down 15–20% at Il Poggione in 2017 due to severe selection of bunches, and all of the fruit that would have been reserved for the Riserva Vigna Paganelli was added to the Brunello instead." Vinous
"Sweet, ripe cherry, blackberry and plum fruit flavors are framed by mineral, tobacco and thyme accents in this vibrant, balanced red. Make no mistake, there are ample tannins too, yet this still finds a nice equilibrium on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a saturated and shiny dark ruby color. This edition is loaded with black and purple fruits, such as blackberry preserves and plum. Those more robust tones are followed by spice, tar and campfire ash. The tannins are young (but not stemmy or bitter), and you'd be best served by letting this wine age and relax with more cellar aging. Il Poggione always makes some of the smoothest and most texturally enriched wines in the appellation, and this vintage is no exception." Wine Advocate
"Underbrush, camphor and new leather aromas get together with grilled herbs. Full-bodied and structured, it also shows restraint, featuring dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside firm, fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Also in the 2017 vintage one of the most multifaceted and interesting references, from an historical firm. Nose of black currant, touches of fresh thyme and licorice, closing on notes of white pepper. The mouthfeel hassapid tannins and a finish with the return of small black fruits." Luca Gardini

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Barolo Brunate is a powerful and vertical wine, endowed with enormous explosive energy and intensity. Crushed flowers, mint, spices and dried flowers open up in the glass, but it is the energy of the wine that really lifts it into the stratosphere. In the glass, the 2019 is dark, almost sombre, and full of the sepia-coloured nuances that are so typical of this great Barolo vineyard. 2019 is an outstanding vintage for Brunate and the first with organic certification. SUPERIORE.DE
"Multi-layered nose with seductive aromas of forest fruits, liquorice and dried flowers; robust and full-bodied, the tannin structure and acidity are perfectly balanced. Combines fullness and race with finesse, should still mature!" Vinum
"There is a yin and yang here between ripe wild cherry, cherry and raspberry fruit and notes of eucalyptus, juniper and hay. They are gripped by dense, assertive tannins on the finish, but this seductive red wine still has a lot to offer. Excellent finesse and length." Wine Spectator
"This wine opens with a wave of aromas that makes you take a seat. Wild cherries, plum, orange peel, clove, violets and rosewood are just a few of the scents that define this beautiful wine. Taut and firm, the palate whelps for a bit more time as the primary fruits are pleasing, the combination of fruit, savory and earth need just a bit more time to shine to their highest. This is a great wine; take your time." Wine Enthusiast
"A fresh wine with a nose of red plum, then notes of laurel, incense and lavender. The mouthfeel has iodine-spicy tannins, with liquorice sensations behind." Luca Gardini
"The Vietti 2019 Barolo Brunate displays an earthy, almost autumnal quality not found in other wines from this leading winery. The bouquet opens with dark fruits, peat moss and rusty nails. The wine is long and finely structured with silky sensations that add softness to the mouthfeel. The finish reveals hints of baking chocolate and espresso beans." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Brunate 2019 is a powerhouse. Black cherry, plum, spice, lavender, mocha, gravel and scorched earth - this virile, potent Barolo is a real powerhouse. The Brunate is another very impressive wine in this range. To be completely honest, the Brunate has never been one of my favourite wines here, but the 2019 is undeniably great. Perhaps the combination of parcels that Vietti now owns explains the multi-dimensional vibrancy that emerges here. It is simply great." Vinous
"The density of ripe fruit is fantastic in this young Brunate with black berries, blueberries, stone and earth. Very pure. It is full-bodied yet restrained and concentrated with a long and intense finish. Very fine tannins. Complex." James Suckling

Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Barolo Lazzarito 2019, which obtains its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, is built like a pyramid. It stands on a thick base of robust fruit and power and rises in intensity thanks to its wonderfully elevated bouquet. It shows direct and solid lines with blackberries, plums, spices, tar, liquorice, candied orange peel and truffle-infused earth. A second wave of flavours offers dark minerals, iron ore and rust. Baroli from Serralunga d'Alba are often in a category of their own thanks to their richness and sheer abundance of fruit. With additional aeration, the Lazzarito, certified organic for the first time in this vintage, delivers mint and fine balsamic herbs and will fully inspire with further maturation in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"The aromas of orange peel, raspberries, apples and violets merge into a medium-bodied wine with flavours of sage, lavender and raspberries. Firm and racy tannins." James Suckling
"A tantalising expression of cherry, plum, liquorice, earth and spice flavours. This red wine shows power and vigour as well as breadth and harmony. The finish is long-lasting with notes of plum, spices and minerals." Wine Spectator
"This is the Barolo we've been looking for! Black cherry, warm spices, crushed stone and dried herbs flow from the glass. It is firm on the palate and makes it clear that it should spend some time in the cellar. The fruit core is present but restrained, while black tea, aniseed, pepper and mineral notes are present but need more time." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Barolo Lazzarito continues a trend of recent years where the focus is more on finesse than raw power. Intense red fruit, iron, dried herbs, chalk, dried rose petals and white pepper permeate this deep, virile Barolo. The power and intensity of the Serralunga come to the fore in the heady, explosive finish. Bright salty notes linger on the deep, resonant finish. The Lazzarito is a Barolo of raw, unbridled power and demands patience." Vinous
"The Vietti 2019 Barolo Lazzarito with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba is a historic cornerstone of this powerful portfolio. It is also one of Vietti's Barolos that continues to offer extreme quality and pleasure with each new release. The Serralunga d'Alba is always powerful and rich. You can recognise aromas of dried tobacco leaves, fragrant tea, crushed roses and iron ore. The bouquet is very expressive." Wine Advocate
"An intense, savory Barolo, with a bouquet of balsamic notes, eucalyptus, red currant, touches of pepper leaf and nutmeg. Savory tannins on the palate, beautiful verticality enhanced by fruity-balsamic return." Luca Gardini

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 · MAGNUM in OWC
Elisabetta Geppetti's Saffredi is one of Italy's great red wines every year, full of elegance! Dark, polished ruby red colour with purple-violet edges. The explosive aroma of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, violets and oak spices is accompanied by fascinating spicy, ethereal and wonderfully floral accents with earthy tobacco notes. Dense and velvety on the palate, framed by firm tannins and a juicy freshness that leads the wine full of energy into an endless finish. The flavour profile, which is very typical of Saffredi, is wonderfully balanced, yet multi-layered and very focused with its spiciness. Saffredi 2021 is a genuine and multi-dimensional beauty that should mature for a few more years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex, elegant bouquet with fine concentration and precisely contoured fruit body, a basket of blue berries and ripe red cherries, plus a floral backdrop, violets, Mediterranean herbs and maquis as well as undergrowth. Polished, clear and radiant on the palate, juicy and tightly woven with velvety, super-fine tannins, a radiant and elegant Saffredi." Weinwisser
"Spicy-berry perfume, cassis, lots of dark fruit flavours, also nuances of black pepper; the attack is compact, the tannins fine-grained, carried by a soft acidity, finishes long and multi-faceted. Also very successful in this vintage." Vinum
"Dark ruby red core with purple nuances. Blackcurrant and mulberry on the nose, on damp earth, dark chocolate and alabaster. Dense on the palate, with tightly woven tannins, precise fear, comes in many layers, powerful, but with great finesse and incredibly long." Falstaff
"The Fattoria le Pupille 2021 Saffredi offers a seamless integration of dark fruit flavours that segue directly into spice, Tuscan cigar and earthy orris root. This vintage is compact and firm, especially in terms of mouthfeel, and there are graceful floral tones to close." Wine Advocate
"This pure, intense red wine shows aromas and flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and violets, underlined by graphite and wild herbs. Very tightly wound, even racy, with invigorating acidity and refined tannins, this noble red wine leans more towards the elegant side, with a great harmony and length." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Saffredi is one of the most vivid, profoundly beautiful wines I have ever tasted from Elisabetta Geppetti. Dark, layered and resonant, the 2021 offers tons of depth and yet remains wonderfully light on its feet. There is a level of finesse here I have never seen before in Saffredi. Blackberry, espresso, lavender, new leather and incense build over time, but it is the wine’s total sense of harmony that leaves me speechless. The 2021 is not a powerhouse—not an obvious wine. For those who can give this time in the glass, it’s a total stunner." Vinous
"Fascinating aromas of sandalwood, lavender, sage and blackcurrant. Mint and spearmint. Pencil shavings. Also light coffee bean. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins. Lasts for minutes. Already so approachable now, but it will age beautifully. Best after 2026 and beyond." James Suckling
"The symbolic wine of the house, the first to put the winery and the region "on the map". Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, nose of small black fruits, notes of laurel, mint and Mediterranean herbs, taut and dense drink, with salty tannins, closes with a fruity and oily return." Luca Gardini

“Turriga” Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
In 1991, Turriga was one of the first bottled wines ever to be exported from the island. Turriga has a 100% Sardinian soul - the famous blend of four red autochthonous grape varieties was once created by the famous OenologistGiacomo Tachis and is continued today by his "heir" Mariano Murru, technical director and Oenologist at Argiolas. The DNA of this exceptional wine sounds as simple as it is perfect: its sophisticated blend of grape varieties gives it its unique structure, roundness, fullness, fruit and a perfectly balanced portion of tannins.
Mariano goes into raptures and describes his top wine as follows: "It has a deep ruby red colour and an enveloping taste of almost spherical softness, with tannins of great finesse that support and accompany the drink. The lively fruit is supported by a balanced acidity and spiciness that refreshes the palate and prolongs an indescribable finish of rare elegance."
Bravo, Mariano! We have loved the elegant bouquet of plums, the opulent dark fruit, the finely balanced vanilla note and the subtle hint of tobacco for decades. Excellently structured and long-lasting on the finish. A masterpiece every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"A beautifully curated and polished young red wine with black berries, violets and bark. Full and velvety with creamy textured tannins and a flavourful finish. Juicy." James Suckling
"An incredible wine, one of the highest creations of Sardinian oenology. Blueberries on the nose, a hint of bay leaves, nutmeg on the finish. It is also savoury on the palate, with salty tannins, beautiful juiciness and persistent drinkability." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBarolo Cerequio DOCG 2019
Barolo Cerequio comes from vines over 35 years old and is characterised by exuberant aromas and bright, red-coloured fruit. The bouquet is enormously opulent with ripe fruit flavours ranging from wild cherry to redcurrant. There are also original notes of jam, plum and a hint of ragout. The palate is nuanced and very deep, with enormous complexity, volume and plenty of character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby red with garnet shimmer. Beguiling aromas of redcurrant and pomegranate, followed by white truffles and a hint of mint. Blood orange and pomegranate on the palate, extremely fresh, lively and complex, elegant melting, dancing acidity, grippy, deep tannins, persistent, powerful final." Falstaff
"There is a ripe element of boysenberry or pomegranate that gives this Barolo a slightly exotic character. Hibiscus, eucalyptus and tobacco notes are also prevalent as it firms up on the fresh, chalky finish." Wine Spectator
"Extremely fresh and perfumed with lavender, violets and fresh plums. Wonderful to smell. Full-bodied with firm and concentrated tannins that add structure and intensity. Excellent length. Fantastic for this vintage." James Suckling
"Vietti was able to buy a 9,000 square metre plot of Cerequio from Michele Chiarlo, who is arguably the king of this famous cru. And as it is a new addition to the portfolio, the Vietti team is still familiarising itself with the material. The bouquet of the Barolo Cerequio 2019, for example, reveals a fresh minty note. "This minty note was a mystery to us," says Luca Currado. "But then we realised that it was part of the Cerequio." On the palate, the wine has a firm grip, which expands and has a soft texture, but ultimately remains quite structured. Luca Currado tells me that "Cerequio is the brother and Brunate is the sister" of the La Morra Grand Cru vineyards. His wife Elena Penna adds: "We have never had two sites that are so close to each other and have such big differences." Wine Advocate
"The nose is intense, with notes of pomegranate, then wild mint, chinotto and a nice iodised finish. The flavour is spicy, with an iodine-fruity return, citrusy and enriched with mentholated notes." Luca Gardini
"The Barolo Cerequio 2019 is a worthy successor to the outstanding 2018. Aromatic and profound, the 2019 runs across the palate with remarkable depth and intensity. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petals, mint and cinnamon open up in the glass, but it is the silkiness and suppleness of the wine that impresses most. A kick of acidity and tannins puts an exclamation mark on the finish. This is a great Cerequio that soaks up all the finesse of this site and then turns up the volume. What a wine." Vinous

Barolo Ginestra “Ciabot Mentin” DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
The great Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra from the historic Clerico vineyard. Bright garnet red colour. Open-hearted bouquet of ripe fruit and spices, the elegant tannins are accompanied by a pleasant freshness in the complex flavour, deep and long on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red with brightening edges. Inviting aroma of cherries, ripe raspberries and plums, leather and sweet tobacco. Powerful and juicy on the palate, precise fruit flavours." Falstaff
"Firm and quite deep, youthful aroma of ripe black and red berries with moderate, slightly bitter-chocolatey wood spice, tobacco notes and floral traces, tomato essence, roasted notes and a hint of pepper. Ripe, firm, tart-juicy fruit, youthful, quite present, yet polished tannins, smoky and very slightly roasted notes, a certain acid bite, a little coffee in the background, salty minerality, certain depth, still completely undeveloped, has freshness and tension, very good, tart-juicy and again somewhat smoky-spicy finish with bite." Wein-plus
"Perfumed and beautiful, with notes of sliced berries, melon, citrus and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied with juicy tannins, chewy and beautiful. Focussed and spicy on the finish. Very transparent and concentrated. Try after 2027." James Suckling
"An imminent but solidly structured red wine characterised by aromas of cherry, eucalyptus, tar, iron and tobacco. It tightens up on the finish, leaving behind compact, mouth-coating tannins. Should develop into a core of pure, ripe fruit in the future." Wine Spectator
"The Domenico Clerico 2019 Barolo Ginestra Ciabot Mentin is a little closed at first. This is a characteristic I found in a vintage that gives us good reason to focus on long bottle ageing. There are dark fruits and spices with liquorice and grilled herbs. Rusty mineral nuances also slowly emerge from the bouquet. This wine needs a double decant if drunk young, but it's better to wait. When I returned 24 hours later for my open tasting, the wine sang beautifully." Wine Advocate
"Nose with hints of black cherry under spirits, touches of wild mint, cinnamon and fresh thyme. In the taste savory tannins, fruity-balsamic and officinal notes. Long lasting persistence." Luca Gardini
"The Ciabot Mentin was planted in 1978 in Ginestra, between 390 and 420 metres above sea level - relatively high for Barolo - but mostly with an eastern exposure, which enhances the freshness and elegance of this wine. The 2019 is indeed cool, with a fresh violet scent, a certain meatiness and black cherry fruit and an almost rosemary-like aromatic character. Its extreme youth is emphasised by crisp acidity and supple, velvety tannins. A very precise wine, still complex and ripe, but also full of potential for the long haul." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
An exotic blend of sweet smoke and cloves gives way to dusty black cherries and a hint of sour citrus fruit as the 2019 vintage unfolds in the glass. After a while, there are hints of musk and floral undergrowth. Pure elegance on the palate, delicate and silky, but also with a core of salty minerals that adds unexpected depth to the vibrant flavours of tart wild berries and spices. Finishes with incredible persistence but also composure, structured yet primary, just as it should be at this young stage. The higher altitudes and almost minimalist winemaking at Le Potazzine have helped to produce one of the most balanced and interesting wines of the 2019 top vintage for us. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium, shiny ruby red colour with a slightly lighter rim. Elegant and sweetish fruity notes of raspberries, strawberries and cherries on the nose, some red rose petals and a hint of liquorice, with a thyme background. Very balanced on the palate with beautiful acidity and fine tannins, very juicy on the final." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Still quite tight and backward on the nose with shy cherry spiked with minerally notes. Tightly knit palate with cherry framed by a big layer of firm, finely ground tannins that cling to the inside of the cheeks. Elegant and long and still embryonic." Jancis Robinson
"Expressive red-fruit and floral notes, followed by cloves and a touch of fresh mint leaves. Medium-bodied with firm and sturdy tannins. Precise and compact on the palate. Give it more time to soften." James Suckling
"Bright and pure, featuring strawberry, cherry, rose, mineral and wild herb flavors. This straddles the line between delicate, elegant and electric, with vivid acidity and resonant tannins. Offers superb harmony and a lingering aftertaste of red fruit." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino delivers all the goods. The bouquet opens to dried cranberry, redcurrant, rosemary flower and light spice. The palate is streamlined and elegant, concluding with powdery tannins." Wine Advocate
"Le Potazzine’s Brunello 2019 exhibits all the vintage’s signature fragrance. Heady cherry blossom, freesia and violet entice immediately while promising more to come. Pure and delineated, the palate offers almost a plushness of strawberry and red cherry, then long, suede-like tannins arrive in waves, never drowning out the fruit. Dense yet spacious with a sophisticated texture, this needs more time." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is stunning and unmissable from the first sip. It combines an array of dried flowers with autumnal spices, cherries with cedar and cloves in a way that I find very appealing. On the palate, it has a texture of pure silk accompanied by bright acidity, while deep wild berries and mineral notes unfold towards the end. The 2019 lingers incredibly long, leaving a hint of primary concentration intermingled with grippy tannins and liquorice nuances, while retaining an airy freshness. The combination of house style and vintage character is unique. It will take a lot of willpower not to pick up the 2019 long enough to see it mature properly. Captivating." Vinous
"Intense and clean aromas reminiscent of blackberries, floral notes of peonies and wild roses with a finish of eucalyptus and rhubarb. Great balance and finesse on the palate, crisp and fresh drinkability, elegant and savoury tannins, with a return of chinotto and basil." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 6 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016
Sandro Chia's vineyards have now reached their full potential and the Riserva from the top 2016 vintage is the crowning glory. This year, the winery's consistently clear style and the cool vineyard sites have found a truly perfect unity, which you have to search long and hard to find, even in Montalcino. The richness and generosity of the bouquet is impressive: delicious layers of dark berries, spices, dried herbs and dark chocolate combine to create an intense composition that is rounded off on the palate. Slender and fine on the palate, yet with a subtle opulence that reveals new depths with every sip. The expression and length emphasise the qualities of this truly super Brunello, which completely captivated us. If you have time, wait for the further revelations that bottle ageing will undoubtedly bring! SUPERIORE.DE
"Beguiling raspberry and violet-pepper nose; the attack is juicy, the tannins are tightly woven and well integrated like the acidity, lots of character, suppleness and length in the final, the wood skilfully integrated." Vinum
"Medium-dense, bright ruby colour with a fine garnet sheen. Complex and open nose with notes of dried tomatoes, pickled cherries and light tobacco. Polished on the palate, as if from a single mould from start to finish, lots of finely woven tannins, coated in sweet enamel, with subtle earthy notes on the final." Falstaff
"This red wine is juicy and bursting with vibrant cherry, strawberry, floral and mineral aromas and flavours. It is firm and lean, with excellent intensity and a long, savoury aftertaste. It is harmonious enough to enjoy now, but should reach its peak in three to five years." Wine Spectator
"Castello Romitorio harvests in two stages. The first is an early selection of the smallest, loosest grapes from the oldest vineyards and is filled into a single tank. In years when the estate's Brunello can stand on its own, it is bottled separately as a Riserva. The 2016, the tenth since 1987, is wonderfully earthy in its overture of clay, mineral rock and iron. It develops into an autumnal smokiness and then lands on balsamic herbs and crunchy red forest berries. The youthful vigour and verve do not conceal its inherent finesse. The crisp acidity and dramatic tannins that hurt the mouth will accompany this wine for a long time to come." Decanter
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva does a marvellous job of creating a lasting sense of harmony that reflects the best characteristics of this classic vintage. Part of that playlist is power, and indeed this wine registers 15% alcohol, which is high, but the freshness of these vineyard sites and the wine's acidity do a good job of tempering that power. The fruit is polished and refined in this Riserva, and there is a nice blend of primary and even some distant tertiary character to form a bouquet that is pure but also complex." Wine Advocate
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva soars with elegance and richness as sweet lavender and violets give way to a more savoury display of black cherries, Tuscan dust and cedar chest with a hint of cool mint. The palate is awash with sweet red fruits and spice, silky yet with a delicacy that you wouldn't expect in the Riserva category, but which is very welcome. Underneath, there is a core of power and density just waiting to unfold. On the final, the minerality comes to the fore, mingling with a fine layer of tannins and a hint of spicy citrus fruit. This harmonious Brunello will have a very long life. The Riserva is a selection of two Brunello barrels, a tonneau and a large barrel, from the Romitorio cellar. Simply stunning." Vinous
"A Riserva of great flavour impact, without compromise, from the north-western part of the appellation. Great concentration on the nose, blackcurrant, notes of laurel and rhubarb. The mouthfeel has salty tannins, but also an excellent density, with a return to fruitiness and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna del Suolo” DOCG 2018
The grapes for the "Suolo" Brunello selection come from the vineyard of the same name and from the estate's oldest vines. They lie at an altitude of 320 metres on soils of clay-limestone marl rich in skeletons and fossils. It is the ideal terroir to fully express the character of the old Sangiovese Grosso clones and gives the wine an acidic, spicy profile. Only part of the vineyard parcels are used for this label. Long ageing in 15-hectolitre Allier oak barrels and a resting period in the bottle complete it and prepare it for the market and the challenge of time. Around 5,000 bottles are bottled only in the best vintages.
The wine announces itself with a deep ruby red colour and opens with a seductive bouquet in which ripe cherries and small fruits give way to more complex notes of tobacco, flowers and undergrowth, before fading into spice and citrus peel. The palate is broad, deep and crisp, supported by a rich acidic framework that carries intact fruit and tannins of spectacular finesse. Rich but not too dense, it is assertive, profound and elegant, with an exceptional vitality that promises glorious ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. Expressive and clear on the nose of fresh wild strawberries, mint, precious wood, dried tomato, underpinned by light spice and maquis. On the palate with a polished entry and progression, builds up fleshy and juicy, with elegant pressure, profound and elegant, in the final on noble earthy notes, will mature excellently." Falstaff
"The Argiano 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo (5,000 bottles) shows good fruit richness with cherry, dried raspberry and plum. The tannins are silky and fine, and the wine envelops the palate with a medium-weight texture and balanced freshness." Wine Advocate
"Argiano is back on track with this 2018 Brunello at an excellent price. Packed with flavour, it shows the vintage well: while the colour is scarce - pale garnet - the aromas are vibrant and enticing with spiced cherry and Mediterranean flowers bursting from the glass. It is medium-bodied and fluid, revealing the warm southern exposure of the vineyards. The tannins are fine and layered, with a chalky texture. Although the winery has released its Vigna del Suolo selection, there will be no Riserva bottling for 2018." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo is seductive and understated in the glass, showing musky blackcurrant flavours accompanied by hints of sage and clove. It is graceful and refined, yet enveloping, with bright acidity enlivening the red plums and ripe strawberries, while a hint of balsamic spice resonates. The 2018 finishes with grippy tension as the fine tannins penetrate deeply, leaving notes of dried cherry and lavender that slowly fade away. The Vigna del Suolo will need patience to fully unfold and develop its flavours. But it will be worth the wait. This is a beauty." Decanter
"A very fine and polished Brunello with fine, creamy tannins that are polished and very curated. Character of cherry and bark. Medium to full body with ripe tannins. Juicy. Orange peel flavours. Try it after 2025, but it's delicious now." James Suckling
"This supple, clean-lined red grabs your attention with a beam of cherry and blackcurrant flavours, while lacy tannins line the finish. It shows flavours of earth, menthol, white pepper and juicy red berries that are expressive and delicious. Super long finish." Wine Spectator
"An essential part of Ilcine history, a wine that is the result of Bernardino Sani's great zoning work. Multi-faceted on the nose, with notes of wild plum, pepper leaf and star anise. Exciting and flavoursome on the palate, with a fruity finish." Luca Gardini
"A sweet, floral nose welcomes you with a warm embrace of vanilla and cherry before an earthy savoriness surprises you with notes of soil, leather, sun-dried tomato and oregano. The tomatoes sweeten on the palate joined by cherries and chili heat before a saline finish. A wine that defines itself with fruit so alive you could take its pulse, and contoured, seductive tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo “Via Nuova” DOCG 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Every year, Barolo Via Nuova proves anew why the blending of several vineyards was the favoured method of Barolo producers until the 1960s, when the fascination with single-vineyard wines began. Its grapes come from the Liste, Terlo, Baudana, Gabutti, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi cru sites.
And certainly the old days were not so bad: silky and fragrant and with exceptional balance, Via Nuova is a real eye-catcher. On the palate, it has plenty of volume and power with beautiful mineral tones that stand proudly above the dark fruit, cassis and wild roses. A mineral, salty note on the finish, which together with the wonderful acidity gives it freshness and great potential. Wonderful balance and convincing in every respect! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with a fine garnet rim. Seductive nose with lots of sweet fruit of raspberries and plums, some liquorice in the background. Firm, gripping tannins characterise the palate, juicy and with good tension." Falstaff
"A rich, ripe style, boasting cherry, raspberry, iron, tobacco, herb and spice flavors. This is dense, with aggressive tannins tipping the balance slightly in their favor, yet remains long and full of fruit to the end, with fine length." Wine Spectator
"Barolo Via Nuova 2020 opens with a little more dark fruit and ripe berries in this vintage. The wine is a small package of flavours from all sides. There is orange peel, bright cherries and fragrant spring flowers. There are hints of herbs, tar, violets and chalky minerals. The tannins are finely honed and soft." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Via Nuova 2020 is outstanding. It clearly benefits from a blend of several vineyard sites. Dark cherry, gravel, spice, menthol, liquorice and dried herbs are all present in this powerful, structured Barolo. As always, the blend includes Paiagallo, Liste, Terlo, Gabutti, Baudana, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi - an approach that works very well. This is an outstanding achievement by Chiara Boschis." Vinous
"Bright and complex nose with excellent depth and complexity. Expect fresh strawberries, white pepper, stones, fine herbs, chalk and even a hint of mezcal. The palate is broad and savoury with fine, chalky tannins that drive it to a long and luscious finish." James Suckling
"On the nose, notes of sour cherry and liquorice root, complemented by hints of eucalyptus and star anise. The sip returns to black fruits and balsamic notes, with a finish of spicy flavours." Luca Gardini

Bright, rich ruby red colour. Fine, elegant bouquet with fruity aromas, notes of coffee and complex spice flavours. The flavour is long-lasting, the acidity in perfect balance with the tannins and body. A wine with great tension and personality, suitable for long ageing, but also a delight in its youth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully multi-layered, rather cool bouquet with the mineral notes that are often perceived here, reminiscent of iron, very distinguished, noble fruit with à point ripe wild berry flavours, noble cherries, cassis and cranberries. Fine and elegant on the palate, very precisely contoured, super elaborate tannins that cling almost perfectly to the body like a tailor-made dress, linear with a fine-radiant acid freshness that penetrates the palate. This is mega! This puts Grattamacco right up there with the region's superstars and secures it a permanent place on the podium." Weinwisser
"Elegant and straightforward in profile, this red wine offers aromas and flavours of cherries, blackcurrants, minerals, earth and Mediterranean scrub. There's fine tension and freshness, with a long, resonant aftertaste. Needs time." Wine Spectator
"Timeless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese: Plump bouquet of blueberry jam and leather; juicy on the palate, the acidity and crumbly tannins in harmony, soft and supple and yet with substance the fruity-balsamic finish, also mineral nuances. A classic that also impresses in this vintage." Vinum
"Aromatic nose of blackcurrants, berries and cherries, along with a hint of flowers and gentle oak. Full-bodied with a very pure and intense fruit that runs through the slightly firm tannins and gives a long, only slightly rubbing finish. From organically grown grapes. An elegant, well-structured blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Drinkable now, but better from 2024." James Suckling
"Restrained cassis and Mediterranean herb scents are allied to fresher red fruits and a floral touch. It's very well composed, demonstrating an elegant and juicy style with great integration of oak and youthful, chewy fruit. A Bolgheri to wait for – this is intended for the long haul." Decanter
"The 2020 tastes balanced and long with even more tannin structure to hold it firmly together. This is an iconic blend." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Grattamacco is an outstanding wine, dark, lively and nuanced to the core. Black fruits, lavender, spices, leather, menthol and dried herbs give the 2020 plenty of character and complexity. The 2020 is deep, but also wonderfully translucent and one of the finest Grattamaccos I can remember tasting. It has incredible depth and resonance, not to mention a lot of personality." Vinous
"One of the highlights of Bolgheri, from a now mythological vineyard. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Blackberries on the nose, menthol, pink pepper and citrus notes on the finish. Taut on the palate with tannins that are balanced by a fresh, savoury component. Fruity finish, depth." Luca Gardini

The name "Vineyard of the Soil" says it all: opens with warm, earthy notes, the fruit emerges in a second wave with dried raspberries, cassis and dried cherries. The theme of earthiness runs through the entire experience and is also evoked by the powdery dryness of the tannins. There are many flavours lurking in this textured, full-bodied Brunello, including orange, mint and a hint of salty sea air. A very special and highly elegant wine that certainly needs some time in the bottle to gain depth and volume. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby-garnet colour with a brightening rim. Charming and inviting nose of fresh wild raspberries and ripe cherries, along with pomegranate and tobacco. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, again cherry and raspberry, then opens up with lots of fine-meshed, present tannins, very good tension and a long finish." Falstaff
"This wine will really come into its own with the 2019 vintage. Intoxicatingly fragrant, it offers notes of mint, fennel and tarragon infusing dark cherry and plum. Not big, but lush and expansive, a sense of baked stone underpins the deliciously tart sour cherry centre. Silky, suede-like tannins are graceful in their draw, while the acidity cleanses the mouth and is crisp. An explosion of apricot pits and juicy minerals prolong the finish." Decanter
"The dark Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo 2019 exudes a hint of cocoa, violet pastille and sweet sage, which complements redcurrants. Like pure velvet, the Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo slowly spreads across the palate, weighty and youthfully dense, with an abundance of mineral, dark red fruits that swirl over a steadily building wall of fine tannins. The 2019 finishes with enormous length and structure and shows fantastic balance. A hint of residual acidity refreshes the senses and balsamic herbs slowly fade away. This is a Vigna del Suolo that is made to last." Vinous
"The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo has an elegant, ever-changing bouquet of black fruits and a pronounced mineral signature of dusty slate and gravel. This site with 63-year-old vines is located on the picturesque cypress-lined gravel road that leads to this imposing castello (one of the greatest architectural works of Italian wine). The bouquet unfolds with tobacco leaves, lime leaves, balsamic herbs, exotic spices and a particularly fresh berry fruit that is on the verge of over-ripeness. The fruit tastes sweet, but in a delicate way, and the tannins are elegant with a dryness that is not exaggerated. This is a very nice wine." Wine Advocate
"Plenty of dark fruit flavours of black cherries, blackberries and dried herbs, followed by dried meat and sweetish tobacco notes. Medium-bodied with crisp, fine-grained tannins and strong acidity. Very precise and dense, yet beautifully balanced and savoury. Great ageing potential." James Suckling
"Aromas and flavours of iron, minerals and wild herbs frame the cherry and raspberry fruit in this lean, racy red wine, which is harmonious and full of energy, with a long aftertaste defined by the firm structure and strong acidity, as well as flint and stone elements. This is something special." Wine Spectator
"On the nose precision and extreme cleanliness, hints of wild strawberry and yellow raspberry. With the oxygenation, the tension and the balsamicmentholated part emerge, with a finish wild and of graphite. In the mouth elegance and tension, extremely fine tannins with hints of blood orange and pomegranate. Closure of eucalyptus, extraordinary drinkability." Luca Gardini

Barolo Monvigliero DOCG 2018 · 0,75l in OWC
The second novelty of the 2018 vintage is Vietti's Barolo Monvigliero. The special feature: Approx. 60% of the grapes are not destemmed, which enhances the aromatic nuances of the wine. Youthful notes of raspberry and blueberry are flanked by black pepper, gentian, porcelain and black olives. The palate has a beguilingly soft texture, fine and creamy, underpinned by wonderful laurel and floral aromas. Monvigliero impresses with its purity, its serenity and its class. Excellent. SUPERIORE.DE
"Here's a very special treat from Verduno and one of the most exciting new releases we will see from Italy this year. In its inaugural release, the Vietti 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is made with 60% whole cluster fruit, following in time-honored local tradition. The soils of Monvigliero are loose and light in color, producing tight but lean-bodied wines. The use of whole clusters gives the wine more texture, intensity and tannins. With wild berry, rose, dried mint and white licorice and very fine and smooth tannins, this wine is part of a precious 3,207-bottle production." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero, another new wine in this range, is dazzling. That's not much of a surprise, as the 2018 has always been gorgeous from barrel. A touch of whole clusters adds aromatic nuance and lift to this super-classic, sculpted Barolo. The Monvigliero impresses with its purity, delineation and class. Superb." Vinous
"Intense and pure, this red exudes floral, strawberry, raspberry, currant, sandalwood, menthol and mineral aromas and flavors. Racy and bursting with energy, delivering a youthful balance and long, long aftertaste of floral, fruit, savory and mineral elements. Shows superb complexity, harmony and finesse." Wine Spectator
"The main cru of Verduno, with calcareous-clayey soils and presence of Marne of Sant’Agata, 320 meters above sea level and about 50 year-old plants. Whole bunch vinification for most of the mass, nose of red currant, with touches of rose hips and incense. The mouthfeel has saline-iodine tannins, with a floral-fruity return." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Le Lucére” DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The vineyard of the same name has been producing a very balanced Brunello for years. Le Lucère 2018 delights us with its attractive bouquet of wild berries, cinnamon and damp undergrowth. Fine tannins, an invigorating acid wire and a supple texture. As it progresses, hints of citrus, minerals and herbs. A complex and very convincing wine that will continue to grow in the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is a medium to full-bodied Sangiovese with dark and spicy tones that turn to dark fruits and plums. The San Filippo 2018 Brunello di Montalcino le Lucére shows abundant aromas of sour cherries and dried raspberries, giving the wine a bright first impression. After a short time, a second wave of toasted aromas and spices comes in. The finish is soft, lean and polished." Wine Advocate
"A supple, delicate version that evokes flavours of cherry, liquorice, white pepper, earth and rosehip. Intense and balanced, with a gauzy texture that builds to a chalky feel on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Already complex and open, with aromas of slate, dried rosemary, grilled sage, lemon peel, sour cherries and cardamom. Smooth and full-bodied with supple and fine tannins. I like the undertones of olive pits and herbs. Strong, mineral finish. Taste after 2025." James Suckling
"La Lucère was planted in 1997 and is surrounded by forest on three sides. The windy, east-facing site is relatively cool and is always the last of the vineyard to be harvested. The 2018, which was aged in lightly toasted barriques and tonneaux, is the most elegant and effortlessly balanced wine I have tasted from this estate. It opens with attractive scents of cinnamon, violets and rosemary and has an impressive concentration of wild berry flavours, but is not heavy. The integrated acidity gives the wine the right support, and the tannins are long and fine, adding texture and shape. The best is yet to come." Decanter
"Le Lucére, the usual expression of the substance inherent in the wines of San Filippo, in a vintage that shows a beautiful opulence. Notes of Vignola cherries on the nose, hints of rhubarb and undergrowth, with a finish of wild mint. Juicy tannins in the mouth, with a return of fruit and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

“Maternigo” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Maternigo means "mother's land" and is also the name of one of the Tedeschi family's vineyards. The vineyards cover around 33 hectares in two municipalities, Tregnago and Mezzane di Sotto. The new Cru-Amarone Riserva Maternigo is only produced in the best years and its grapes come exclusively from the Barila vineyard. This single vineyard was selected after careful zoning and characterisation of the soil, which is characterised by very low vigour and consequently produces grapes rich in structure.
This gives it its own complex and aromatic character, which is characterised by a high concentration of natural aromatic components in the grapes. This complexity creates an intense bouquet of red fruits and Mediterranean flowers. These notes are echoed on the palate, along with subtle hints of eucalyptus, which give the wine freshness and at the same time hints of sweet spices. The impressive result is an elegant wine with great structure and exciting development potential - and an unmistakable sensory experience. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright, rich ruby red colour. Noble and clear on the nose, of ripe, rich cherries, red peach, rosehips and wild berry mousse, with fine spicy components on the finish. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, opens rich and with dark berry fruit components, juicy tannin envelops the fine melting, ends long in the final with fine pressure on elderberry syrup." Falstaff
"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Maternigo is ashy and intense, with tobacco giving way to peppery herbs, dried cherries and dark chocolate. It feels velvety-smooth and glycerin-like, with a dense wave of ripe red fruit and sweet spice carried by salty minerals and vibrant acids. It leaves a hint of rich sweet fruit along with violet and lavender tones as it finishes lightly textured. The 2016 took some time to develop in the glass, but it really shows the magic of the vintage. Bravo." Vinous
"The Tedeschi 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Maternigo comes from an exciting vineyard with soils of grey marl limestone outside the "Classico" zone of the appellation and is a dark and brooding wine. The intensity is undoubtedly there, but the wine is actually quite balanced and even. It never feels too heavy or dense. There is some lingering sweetness, but the mouthfeel is creamy and soft in texture." Wine Advocate
"Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella from the Barila vineyard, grape harvest, followed by long fermentation and maceration, then 48 months in Slavonian oak, a wine with a beautiful olfactory impact, notes of blackcurrant, nuances of wild mint and nutmeg, spicy attack, spicy finish." Luca Gardini
"This wine exemplifies the unique world that Amarone lives in as a wine. It is both very powerful and elegant at the same time. The nose is reserved at first, showing a mixture of black currant, plum and raspberry. The wine then shifts gears highlighting the bitter-chocolate notes and chalky minerality that come from this unique single vineyard, Barila. The bottling has firm tannins and vibrant acidity, giving the wine seriousness and demanding it be lost in the cellar for some time." Wine Enthusiast
"It's very restrained on the nose, with a dense package of baked red cherry flavours and a bright mineral, almost wet stone character. Mediterranean herbs too. Full-bodied palate that is back under control, but there is a dense package of firm, fine tannins, dried fruit and spice waiting to burst out. It's hard to believe this wine is only 17% alcohol, it's so well constructed. It will be superb in a year or two and beyond if you can resist the temptation now. Best from 2023 onwards." James Suckling
"Spicy, woody black cherry, blueberry jam and coffee scents are joined by deep, rich, earthy and almost-jammy flavours, with cocoa and damson. Round and extremely fresh with a persistent finish, this is by no means a shrinking violet yet has the balance to match its considerable concentration and heft." Decanter

“Galatrona” Merlot Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in gift box
Galatrona is a pure Merlot in a class of its own. Black-red ruby in the glass. On the nose, black berries, fine wood spice and some leather. Very generous fruit aromas and extremely complex on the palate, it glides elegantly into the depths until it is caught by a finely woven tannin and passes into a long and finesse-rich finish. A wine that does not have to hide behind Masseto & Co., on the contrary, for us it has been Italy's Merlot benchmark for years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, intense ruby with violet glints. Very clear and inviting nose, full of blueberry and blackberry, in addition fine tobacco notes, some cardamom. Juicy and endowed with lots of fresh fruit, shows polished tannin, grippy, after blackberries in the final, shows a fine spice carpet in the final." Falstaff
"A round, fruity red wine with ripe aromas of black cherries, blackberries, plums, graphite and spices. It starts soft and becomes firmer on the finish, where refined tannins come into play. It shows good balance but should be given a few more years to fully develop." Wine Spectator
"Some forest floor notes mingle with dark fruits and fresh herbs - liquorice and blackcurrant with hints of dark chocolate and thyme. Supple and mouth-filling, this wine has weight from the start, the tannins are massive, plush and fleshy, filling the mouth with rich, concentrated black fruit flavours. Detailed and precise, this wine has power and is well framed with high acidity giving the vitality to balance the concentration. A powerful wine, with real power, yet finesse." Decanter
"Dark berries, chocolate mousse, dried herbs and some chilli pepper heat show on the nose of this wine. The palate remains chocolaty but herbal, with a dark cherry and syrup finish contrasted by chalky, grainy tannins and lingering spiciness. An absolute delight in the best way." Wine Enthusiast
"The Petrolo 2020 Galatrona is a pure expression of organic Merlot and the winery's top wine. It was first created in 1994, when Luca Sanjust's second child, Lucia, was born. Despite the summer heat, which became a challenge for winemakers in many corners of Tuscany, Galatrona is showing excellent results in 2020. The vineyard is located in a cool and densely wooded area almost exactly between Florence, Arezzo and Siena. The vintage has a classic quality with a subtle bouquet that increases in intensity as the wine opens in the glass. Aromas of cherries, toasted almonds and dried mint accompany a long and very elegant finish. The oak tannins are soft and sweet, and the wine has a long-lasting flavour." Wine Advocate
"Subtle yet intense aromas of black fruits and violets. Extremely perfumed. Stomped stones. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that give a velvety mouthfeel that lasts minutes. Refined and fresh. Al-dente fruit." James Suckling
"The Galatrona 2020 is breathtaking. In fact, the 2020 is one of the best vintages of Galatrona I can remember tasting. I am particularly impressed by its vertical intensity and explosive energy. All the elements are so impeccably woven together. Dark fruits, crushed rocks, menthol, liquorice and spices lead into an intense finish that lingers on the palate. Great." Vinous
"The culmination of Luca Sanjust's revolutionary work at Petrolo, this Galatrona gets more exciting with each release: pure Merlot, nose of currants, with a finish of dogwood peel and bay leaf, crisp, salty mouthfeel, with a return of citrus and a long, mentholated finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
Silky, open and graceful, it captivates with outstanding elegance and the finesse typical of Montalcino's northern sector. Rose petals, sweet red berries and graceful, minty notes grace the palate in a sensual, silky Brunello that exudes its class and pedigree with the first sip. The traditional Marroneto style with fine-grained tannin and subtle saltiness contrasts excitingly with the classic structure and extract sweetness. Great wine! SUPERIORE.DE
"When we tasted the wine, our little group went wow. Here, once again, the advantage of the higher-lying vineyards around the town of Montalcino becomes apparent. Alessandro Mori's vineyards lie at 400 metres above sea level. The bouquet already shows how distinguished the wine is: fine red fruit, with crisp raspberries and wild berries, plus mineral hints and red cherries. In the mouth with a lot of refinement, amazingly slender for the hot and dry year, totally relying on freshness, immensely red berry, fresh and fruity with almost delicate beginnings, firm but fine tannin. Filigree interwoven. Stands out positively with its freshness and fine style." Weinwisser
"Bright, medium-dense ruby red. Opens with emphatic spicy notes, of thyme and cardamom, then lots of juicy sour cherry. Present fruit on the palate with juicy fruit." Falstaff
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with vibrancy and spunk, showing woodland berries and herbs with crushed wet stone and undergrowth in an incredibly fresh and lively expression. It’s soft and pliant upon entry, enveloping with its saturating raspberry fruits and inner spice, as mineral tension builds, giving way to sweet, elegant tannins and inner florals. The 2017 shows a more slender yet well-muscled interpretation of the 2017 vintage, but it remains remarkably pretty and balanced throughout." Vinous
"Just north of Montalcino, sitting at over 400 metres, Il Marroneto’s vineyards benefit from cooling north breezes. Proprietor Alessandro Mori maintains a generous canopy to protect the grapes from hail and, above all, sunburn. With a lightness of structure yet concentration of flavour, this is beautifully midweight in presentation. Lifted fragrances of wild broom and mandarin are countered by earthier ash and roasted chestnut nuances. There's a sweet/sour sensation to the red cherry palate, and fine, powdery tannins impart a distinguishing tactile, layered texture. A finale of gingerbread lends further intrigue." Decanter
"Alessandro Mori's Il Marroneto 2017 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a very distinguished and unique character that makes this wine easy to recognize in a lineup of Brunello. This hot and dry growing season made for more powerful aromas and sometimes riper flavors in the appellation, generally speaking. But this magically lean-bodied wine follows its own path, and the warmth of the summer seems to have cemented almost exotic aromas of bay leaf, crushed flower, campfire ash and iron ore. The wine is exceedingly silky and elegant, but instead of opulence, you get streamlined tension accompanied by lifted, immediate aromas of fruit, flowers and light spice." Wine Advocate
"All the richness of the raw home material in this impeccable reading of Brunello. Blueberries jam to the nose, touches of nutmeg and fresh thyme, then final on the brackish notes of the caper fruit. The mouthfeel has iodized tannins and a fruity finish." Luca Gardini

“Troy” Chardonnay Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Troy is not a normal Chardonnay. Rather, it is the archetype of a Chardonnay, as Wolfgang Klotz, managing director of probably the most successful winegrowers' cooperative in South Tyrol, sees it. The grapes come from two selected vineyards in Söll, near Tramin. Not only does a Mediterranean climate prevail there, but also quite cold fall winds at night determine the vegetation. Both factors ensure optimal development of the plants and fruits. The berries are handpicked piece by piece and it is therefore clear to every wine connoisseur that this is an absolutely prestigious project of the cooperative. It is therefore not surprising that only 3,000 bottles of this vintage are sold in selected specialist shops and top restaurants.
Intense straw to golden yellow. Tropical fruit on the nose, a hint of camomile and mint, then fine toasted notes and a subtle nutty touch. On the palate, you can almost taste the proximity of the mountains, its clarity, freshness and intensity: exotic notes of yellow ripe fruit, then again some nuttiness and in addition again a beguiling liveliness and minerality, which ends in an equally long final. Chardonnay can be like this, chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE
"Very typical, smoky underpinned Chardonnay fragrance with yellow stone fruit, peach, delicate exoticism with pineapple and mango, supported by a smoky-nutty backdrop in which roasted hazelnuts and fine caramel bring Burgundy to mind again. Dense and full-bodied in the mouth with a creamy texture reminiscent of salty butter, wonderfully contrasted by the spicy-salty freshness that increasingly sets the tone." Weinwisser
"The 2019 Chardonnay Riserva Troy rises from the glass with enriching notes of hazelnut and custard before giving way to white flowers and hints of opal apple. This wine is elegant from start to finish, with ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices perfectly contrasted by salty minerality. The Troy finishes long and lightly textured, leaving notes of raw almonds and candied limes. Although a little hedonistic on the nose, the balance of this wine is a feast for the eyes. Cellaring should help integrate some of the 2019 oak flavours." Vinous
"One of the winery's top wines, the Cantina Tramin 2019 Alto Adige Chardonnay Riserva Troy opens a little slowly. It has had a long maturation process: 11 months in barrique and 22 months in stainless steel. With a little coaxing, this alpine white wine finally blossoms, showing orchard fruit, pie crust and baked apple." Wine Advocate
"Peach, pie crust, pineapple and mango crumble on the nose with hazelnuts and salted caramel. Full-bodied with a lovely buttery texture. Long and lush, yet with lemony freshness and saline undertones." James Suckling
"Brilliant yellow apples and lemon zest with a lurking wealth of toasted vanilla and lush, chalky minerality keeping the structure in check. Long and impressive." Decanter
"Intense bright straw yellow with green nuances. Opens with fresh notes of mint, then lots of clear fruit, pineapple and mango, some beeswax, very inviting. Extremely juicy and present on the palate, shows lots of tropical fruit, very appealing, well-integrated acidity gives tension, long finish." Falstaff
"One of the "untouchable" products from the Termeno winery's research. A lively Chardonnay, with a faceted nose, yellow plum, then rosemary, lemongrass and ginger. Notes of white pepper on the finish. The palate is tasty, with officinal fruity return and spicy memories." Luca Gardini
