Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Selection of 100% Sangiovese grapes from the estate's vineyards, which are located on the south-eastern and south-western slopes of the municipality of Montalcino at an altitude of 250 to 400 metres above sea level. The soils have an open sandy texture with clay and abundant Galestro skeleton. The wines are aged for at least 24 months in Liters French oak barrels and in Slavonian oak barrels with a capacity of 15-25 hl. This is followed by ageing in the bottle. Talentis Brunello has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections, a broad bouquet on the nose, slightly spicy. In the mouth it is full, intense, soft and velvety with elegant and sweet tannins. Wonderful value. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose is on the cherry side, with a hint of mocha and flowers; the attack is delicate, the clean tannins and acidity in harmony, with a long finish. Also very successful in this vintage." Vinum
"Bright ruby red colour. Very elegant and clear nose of sugared cherry fruit, rosehips, shortbread and Assam tea, freshly ground pepper on the finish. Elegant on the palate, with clear fruit, great acidity and a tense finish, very precise, stunning vintage Brunello!" Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red colour. Spicy, aromatic but not sweet oak notes and subdued fruit. Polished cherry and raspberry fruit with a nice bite of ripe tannins on the finish and fully integrated oak. Elegant weight on the palate." Jancis Robinson
"Perfumed, with red berries, cherries and a hint of rose stems on the nose. Medium-bodied, with plenty of wood and richness. Powerful and a little austere, but should soften and come together with age." James Suckling
"It is less exuberant than usual, with mineral and ferrous notes in the lead role. Dried mint and fennel emerge on opening. The palate is full-bodied and fruity, offering great depth of expressive red berry and stony earth flavours. The ripe yet grippy tannins are tightly knit." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens slowly with a mix of savoury herbs, worn leather, dried roses and cinnamon-dusted currants. It flows across the palate with textures of pure silk, racy yet refined, with a seamless wave of ripe red fruit that slowly saturates towards the finish. The finish is long, colourful yet harmonious. Crisp tannins frame the experience without slowing the momentum, while liquorice and orange notes gradually fade away. This fantastic, energised version of Talenti's Brunello will thrive in the cellar over the next ten to fifteen years." Vinous
"Ripe, sweet cherry, raspberry and iron flavours underline this powerful, juicy red wine, which has a great personality, with a wide range of tannins to go with lively acidity and lingering fruit. Overall, a well-balanced wine with a long, lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The Talenti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of above-average intensity that consistently impresses with its dark aromas of blackcurrant, pitted plum, floral earth and a pungent fragrance reminiscent of black baccara rose. It is a rich and open Brunello with velvety tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"The project is based on Pierluigi's vision, which Riccardo brings to the full expression of the south-west quadrant of the DOCG. On the nose, notes of red plums, star anise and hints of wild rosemary. Juicy mouthfeel, with perfectly integrated tannins and hints of sweet spices." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
With the exception of 2016 and 2019, the last eight years in the region around Montalcino have been characterised by warm and dry conditions. For this reason, Il Poggione has started to prioritise irrigation for emergencies (which is becoming more and more of a necessity in the south-west of Montalcino) and is looking for a better balance in the higher vineyards. This is not the only reason why Il Poggione is one of the top producers every year, with an extremely fair value.
Oenologist Alessandro Bindocci compares the 2019 and 2016 vintages as follows "Both Brunellos are quite classic, but the 2019 has more energy and fruit than the 2016 at the same stage."
Opens as a medium-dark appearance with a pretty Sangiovese lustre and ruby red shimmer. In the glass, the 2019 shows a wildly romantic side and a dense fruit profile. The aromatic focus is on blackberries, dried cherries, tobacco and a hint of smoked tobacco or horse saddle. On the palate, a contrasting spectacle of dark red fruits, sweet spices and salty mineral notes; all supported by a silky texture and lively acidity. As it progresses, it has a beautiful, firm grip and a stable backbone, with youthful tension and fine-grained tannins, which will give it great ageing potential. Il Poggione is a safe bet every year, and not just for us, and the 2019 edition is once again one of the best representatives of this noble appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Notes of blackberries and herbs, also tobacco; pithy structure, robust tannins, combines character and good length." Vinum
"Dense bouquet with ripe red and dark fruits, blueberries, wild strawberries, cassis and redcurrants. Behind this, the oak barrel ageing is also evident with a fine animal note, cedar, tobacco, chocolate, dark spices and herbs. Fleshy, dense palate with a coarse-meshed tannin network, but of the best quality. Very persistent and full-bodied on the final." Weinwisser
"Dark, youthful ruby red colour. Very closed and brooding with just a hint of fragrant raspberry, tea leaves and oak. Generous and compact on the palate. A layer of soft cherry and raspberry fruit, lined with quite powerful tannins that need more time. Carries its 15% with ease. Closes on the finish and needs more time." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of dried fruit, such as figs and dried cherries, followed by tree bark, rosemary and a hint of sandalwood. Full-bodied and creamy on the palate with a solid tannin structure. Wonderful length. Dense and opulent." James Suckling
"The Il Poggione 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows a developed bouquet with aromas of dried fruit, forest floor, crushed flowers and autumnal foliage. A second nose reveals dark liquorice, wet slate, cola and grilled rosemary. The tannins are powdery and dry." Wine Advocate
"It offers plenty of plum, cherry, iron, tobacco and undergrowth flavours supported by a plump texture that matches the dense structure, as well as a lively acidity that keeps everything in focus. Another year of ageing should allow the finish to expand and this wine to reach its full potential." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 vintage is very balanced, somewhere between 2016, 2013 and 2010. Sant'Angelo in Colle, which suffers in warmer vintages, has done very well and Il Poggione is a great example of the harmony of the area's wines in this vintage. At first sniff it is fruity, later becoming more restrained, with black cherry, violets, leather, graphite and the typical nutty finish. The chalky tannins are extracted but velvety, emphasised by an almost piquant acidity." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino draws the taster close to the glass with its dark and earthy blend of crushed ash stones giving way to rosemary, cedar, exotic spices and a core of raspberry jam. Enveloping and serene, it flows across the palate like pure silk, steadily building tension as tart wild berry and orange notes give way to a sweet herbal push. The 2019 finishes with tremendous length and is classically structured as crisp tannins linger and purple flowers slowly fade over a tactile layer of minerality. Il Poggione has captured the vibrancy of the vintage, yet it is still a baby today." Vinous
"Fresh nose, pomegranate, notes of lemongrass and ginger with citrus notes. Salty tannins on the palate, reminiscence of pomegranate and notes of ginger." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
In the very well-balanced 2019 vintage, the winery offers us an extremely flavoursome and juicy wine that carries the spirit of Montalcino from the first to the last sip. Fine notes of sage and mint beautifully round off the warm, ripe and extremely rich fruit bouquet. The palate prances with a fine red berry acid wire that is underpinned by a great velvety texture. On the other hand, it is a taut, precise and particularly fresh Brunello that delights us even at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, spicy bouquet with fully ripe fruit, blue berries, ripe cherries, leather and sweet spices. Juicy and beguiling on the palate with redcurrant and pomegranate, followed by tobacco and delicate mineral and herbal notes with balsamic nuances. Very juicy and full of finesse, full of crackling tension and yet so seductive, stylish and powerful. It scores with its subtle and refined style on the spicy final." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby-garnet colour with a brightening rim. Extremely appealing nose, fine aromas of roses, ripe dark cherries, fresh blackberries and a hint of saffron. Supple on the palate with lush fruit, but then also shows grippy, present tannins, firm pressure on the final, long finish." Falstaff
"The Brunello is made from a large number of south-facing, airy plots at an altitude of 240 to 360 metres. The exceptionally fragrant 2019 wine smells of sweet Mediterranean herbs, arbutus and raspberries. It is medium-bodied with soft, sandy tannins and captivates with its tangerine freshness. While a hint of warming alcohol shines through, it retains its graceful stature." Decanter
"Sour cherries with undertones of stone and bark in the flavours. Medium body, firm tannins and a long, linear finish that ends tightly. However, it softens with age. Subtle bark and dried mushroom character at the end." James Suckling
"Dusky cherry and plum flavors are the main themes in this red, with accents of leather, spices and wild herbs. Lively and focused, with excellent harmony and a sequel of ripe cherry on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine is not to be confused with a Brunello. The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows a beautiful continuity that unfolds in sync on the nose and palate. There are aromas of grilled watermelon, red cherry, garden herbs and violets, and there is a charred note reminiscent of toasted oak. The bouquet is very balanced, but on the palate it is much more powerful, thanks to the high alcohol content of 15% and the young tannins that hit the palate. Give this wine a few more years of bottle ageing." Wine Advocate
"A compact Brunello from Ciacci Piccolomini. The nose opens with notes of cranberry, then marjoram and a hint of eucalyptus. Juicy and taut drinkability, tasty tannins, closes with a return of small fruits and balsamic sensations." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020
Rose petals, mint, cinnamon, dark sweet cherries and smoke rise from the glass in a translucent, wiry Brunello that is built on energy, power and opulence. Length and fruit take centre stage here and, together with a clearly defined tannin structure, Leopoldo Franceschi's team has produced a wine in a very classic vintage that will really reveal itself over the next few years. As always, it is one of our favourites, and its still outstanding value is also great fun! SUPERIORE.DE
"Densely coloured with ripe red and dark fruits, less blueberry than usual, significantly more sour cherry and red currant, wild strawberries and cassis. Behind this, cedar, tobacco, chocolate and dark spices as well as herbal flavours. Dense palate with a firm tannin structure. Very persistent and substantial on the final." Weinwisser
"A restrained blend of liquorice and graphite, bright red cherries and roasted notes. Firm tannins on the medium to full-bodied palate with refreshing acidity. Overall a plump style." James Suckling
"This red wine is rich and dense, interwoven with flavours of cherry, blackberry, plum, black pepper, earth, iron and tobacco. Combines power and grace with fine balance. The finish echoes the fruit and spice flavours." Wine Spectator
"The Il Poggione 2020 Brunello di Montalcino shows very nice results, with a better accessibility in this vintage. It has aromas of dark fruits with blackcurrant, followed by something spicy or herbal. I am reminded of liquorice root, exotic spices, pressed roses and fragrant tea leaves. The finish is supple with silky tannins and an open approach. This vintage is almost ready to drink, and you get an elegant complexity at the same time." Wine Advocate
"A sun-soaked nose of macerated cherry and nutmeg is offset by porcini and leather. This has all the generosity and lushness of the south, with dusty tannins folded in to give shape. Dense red fruit is punctuated by sweet, dried herbs and the finish offers a saline twist. There is a lot of wine here, but it is impeccably balanced." Decanter
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is initially explosive, bright and powerful, evolving from cranberry to cherry with dusty sage, spiced blood orange and Tuscan dust. The wine is pure elegance, with a deep, almost velvety texture and a core of tart forest fruits that contrast with the balsamic notes and fine-grained tannins on the finish. The finish is long, textured and colourful, leaving a sense of flint and a primary fruit core that floods the palate with purple flowers and a hint of lavender. The 2020 is seamless from start to finish and, while more approachable than a typical vintage of Il Poggione, is balanced for longer aging." Vinous
"On the nose, aromas of red raspberries, red oranges and gardenia, with mentholated nuances. The flavour has salty tannins, then notes of red and floral fruits." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020
Dark and seductive with a blend of crushed plums, brown spices, cedar and a hint of cocoa. Its textures are like pure silk bordering on velvet, with a gentle blend of ripe cherries and redcurrants, underlined by salty minerals, while notes of citrus contrast towards the end. A web of fine tannin runs through the final, creating a gentle textural pull that balances balsamic herbs and a hint of mocha as blue and violet-coloured flowers slowly fade away. SUPERIORE.DE
"Talenti once again fascinates with finesse, precision and its delicate, noble style. This is for wine lovers who are looking for something classic. A smoky, finely drawn bouquet with red berry fruit, ripe cherries, raspberries and forest fruits, balsamic freshness with herbal notes, juniper, tobacco and mineral accents show that the delicate, fresh side of the vintage was sought rather than extraction. Delicate, juicy with a fine, almost silky tannin corset that supports the wine through to the finesse-rich final, where the fine, radiant acidity provides further freshness." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red colour, shiny. On the nose, cherry juice, wild berry candy, mint, subtle hints of cold smoke, iron, reminiscent of sealing wax and yeast on the finish. Polished on the palate with brooding, balsamic fruit, grippy tannins, balanced and with its own classic style, a finely salty finish with minty tones, accessible!" Falstaff
"This Brunello seduces with strawberries, tarragon and nutmeg. It's medium-bodied and tangy, flowing breezily over a cheerful candied pomegranate blossom. The just-ripe tannins give it a talc-like texture, and the lively acidity enlivens the finish." Decanter
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino shows its savoury side, with cigar smoke and cured leather leading onto dark fruits and baked blackberries. There's a hint of earthy minerality that adds focus and focus to the wine's medium-bodied finish." Wine Advocate
"A floral style in this tense Brunello, along with cherry jam in a positive, delicate way. Medium to full-bodied and firm with chalky tannins but ripe and refreshing acidity. Juicy overall, with a hint of blood orange in the aftertaste." James Suckling
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is particularly dark and rich in the glass, displaying a blend of plum sauce and grilled herbs underscored by a hint of mint and cedar shavings. It displays a texture of pure silk, appearing cool and supple with a core of tart raspberry fruit enlivened by fresh acidity. The 2020 maintains fantastic balance and poise, finishing classically structured and long, but still quite fresh. It may not have the power of bigger vintages, but impresses all the more with its graceful and yielding nature." Vinous
"Also in the ‘vintage’ Brunello all the strength of the management of Riccardo Talenti, expression of the southwest quadrant of the DOCG. Aroma with cornflower, then gardenia, notes of nutmeg and wild rosemary. The mouthfeel is juicy-savory, with perfectly integrated tannins and memories of sweet spices." Luca Gardini

Radici Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2017
Bright, powerful ruby colour, aromas of cherry, redcurrant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and taut tannins that give it definition and lift to the flavours. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. It has outstanding potential. If you taste the decades-old wines from Mastroberardino (dating back to 1928), it becomes clear: these wines are monumental, immortal or at least for eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Ripe blackberries and rich plums on the nose, with a subtle hint of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, liquorice and a touch of leather in the background. Powerful but well-integrated tannins on the palate, with plenty of ripe fruit and a long final." Falstaff
"The nose is tart, spicy and assertive, with aromas of blackberry, pepper and hot iron. On the palate, black cherries reinforce the blackberry tartness before a new intrigue comes in the form of fresh herbs and a coffee bitterness. The acidity bumps up against the powerful but quiet tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Dark and intense, the 2017 Taurasi Radici Riserva glows with an intriguing blend of crushed ash stones, graphite, lavender and dried wild berries. Initially lean on the palate, it gains energy from a core of tart citrus and savoury spice, while tart red fruits saturate the senses. The 2017 leaves the mouth reeling with a mesh of fine tannins and a hint of sour orange that tickles the cheeks. It's still a baby today, but it has the balance to mature beautifully with time." Vinous
"Complex and deep character with ripe blackberries, sultanas, dried roses, dark chocolate, roasted walnuts, dark liquorice and wild mushrooms with some tar. Full-bodied, complex and compact with a broad and velvety tannin structure that lingers on the palate. Classic, restrained style with a hint of sweet tobacco on the finish. Needs three to four years to fully develop." James Suckling
"An indispensable part of the peninsula's winemaking history, a Taurasi that is impossible not to call iconic. Cherries and laurel on the nose, a hint of eucalyptus, dogwood peel and undergrowth, salty, dense and compact in the mouth, with a citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020
Generous Brunello made from grapes from different vineyards in various sub-zones in Montalcino with the classic aura of its vintage. The aromatically intense bouquet opens with a scent of violets and then develops flavours of wild berries, vanilla, tobacco and chocolate. The flavour is characterised by a good balance between a full, juicy body, soft tannins and well-integrated alcohol. SUPERIORE.DE
"An immediately engaging nose offers preserved red cherry, plum, cinnamon and carob. Hints of Mediterranean forest weave through the wine. The palate shows a sunny, luscious ripeness, but is well integrated by the sandy tannins on the finish." Decanter
"The Brunello di Montalcino 2020 seduces the taster with a marvellous bouquet of fresh strawberries and plums, underlined by sweet herbs and a hint of exotic spices. The wine is soft, round and quite airy in flavour, with vibrant pure red berry fruit underlined by a core of lively acidity. The energy remains high throughout, leaving a hint of steely minerality and sweet tannins that frame the experience nicely." Vinous
"Strawberryto the nose, licorice root and eucalyptus whipped, closed on notes of white pepper. Balsamic mouthfeel, with a memory of red fruit." Luca Gardini
"Very pretty and floral with raspberries and black cherries on the nose, as well as violet undertones. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins that are nevertheless integrated and polished. Long, intense finish. Very well made for the vintage." James Suckling
"The Altesino 2020 Brunello di Montalcino opens with earthy tones and shows the character of the house, which is easy to recognise. This elegant wine offers a polished and smooth mouthfeel with finely balanced tannins. The oak is also skilfully used to reveal a light spiciness that is deeply integrated into a silky mouthfeel." Brunello di Montalcino “Castelgiocondo” DOCG 2019
Our customers had to do without Frescobaldi's Castelgiocondo for several years, as we felt that it did not sufficiently reflect the elegance and finesse of the Montalcino region. After the winery made some stylistic changes in recent years, it has evolved from a rather opulent wine into a very authentic and cool interpretation of the appellation and we would therefore not like to withhold the very successful 2019 edition from you.
Opens beautifully in the glass with sour cherries, spiced oranges and dried flowers. Creamy textures on the drink, contrasted by cool minerality and juicy acids, nicely accompanied by small red berries under a hint of sweet herbs and inner flowers. Castelgiocondo 2019 still needs some time to develop, but it has the necessary balance and structure to mature into a real beauty. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, light ruby with a granite-red rim. Deep and spicy nose of black pepper, damp earth, tobacco, cedar wood and cherry jam. Ripe fruit on the palate, finely woven tannins, lots of tension, a hint of menthol on the long finish." Falstaff
"Very dark ruby red with bright orange-coloured reflections. Rich, brooding cherry with a hint of eucalyptus. Supple fruit that is still quite curled up at the same time. Grainy, long tannins and plenty of juice on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"The Brunello comes from plots located between 350 and 450 metres above sea level on the predominantly slate-rich Galestro. Concentrated and expressive, the nose reveals an intriguing blend of red cherries, plums, nutmeg and mint. The layers of generous fruit are lush and the tannins have a suede-like texture. Undertones of sweet earth and forest permeate the wine. Well made, everything is effortlessly in place." Decanter
"The Frescobaldi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino CastelGiocondo shows notes of oak, dried spices, redwood and smoked tobacco. At its core, the wine shows dark fruit and a high level of extraction. The tannins are soft and dissolved, making this Brunello a wine that can be drunk immediately. The wine is exactly where you want it to be." Wine Advocate
"This powerful red wine is as spicy as it is fruity, with notes of cherry, plum, leather, wild thyme, woody undergrowth, iron and tobacco. Powerful, with dusty tannins that guard the long-lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"Black cherries, black bark, blackberries and lavender. Medium to full-bodied with juicy and polished tannins and a long, flavourful finish. Needs four to five years to open up and develop." James Suckling
"South-west quadrant of the appellation, a Brunello of spicy and balsamic elegance. Refined nose, black cherry, a hint of juniper, closing on cinnamon sensations. Dense and drinkable on the palate, with iodised tannins and recurring notes of black cherry, with citrus notes." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Brilliant, dark ruby colour. Deep bouquet of rich blackberry and cherry flavours with mentholated herbal notes that give it lift, while notes of cedar and clove develop in the glass. On the palate, the wine is a pure silk that slowly lays over the palate, with an admirable density and weight balanced by bright acidity and minerality. This still very young wine is full of potential with a core of dark primary fruit that already offers a good foretaste of the charm of later years. A finely woven tannin structure on the long final. Wonderful ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very beautiful, floral bouquet with delicate candied, ripe cherries, lilacs and rose petals. Powerful, juicy in the mouth, spicy-floral frame with rather red berry freshness, beautiful spice and herbal notes, good tension with quite supple, fine-grained tannins." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with garnet reflections. Elegant bouquet of sweet cherries, undergrowth, fresh mushrooms, plus some tobacco and saddle leather. Incredibly soft on entry with young but fine tannins, precise fruit, long." Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Attractive, firm cherry fruit nose with balsamic, minty oak notes. Lots of supple, tangy cherry with grippy but polished tannins. A seductive whole that can be savoured now but also lasts a long time." Jancis Robinson
"Compact and exciting young red colour with lots of dark fruit and violets as well as subtle spicy and roasted undertones. Creamy and rich on the palate with balanced acidity. Persistent length with flavours of dried herbs on the finish. Needs more time to mellow." James Suckling
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is wild, opening with a savoury burst of spiced orange and clove before settling on black cherry and ashen rock. It feels creamy and seductive, with a wave of rich red fruit flowing easily across the palate, guided by juicy acidity. Tension builds on the finish as salty minerals mingle with edgy tannins, leaving a pleasantly bitter sensation and leaving the mouth wanting more. Although some patience will be required, I expect the 2019 to exceed expectations after only a few years of cellaring." Vinous
"The La Gerla 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has spicy, dried fruit with blackcurrant, pine cones, juniper berries and a hint of medicinal herbs or camphor ash. The oak is clearly evident in the form of fireflies or crushed cloves. On the palate, this Brunello is rather streamlined, and although the tannins are still slightly chalky, they are now almost accessible." Wine Advocate
"One of the company's gems, a Brunello of rare reliability. On the nose, notes of red mulberry, then eucalyptus and cinnamon, with hints of gardenia. The sip is savoury, with a return of balsamic sensations and red mulberry. Closes with floral notes." Luca Gardini

“Guidalberto” Toscana IGT 2021
Since Guidalberto has been vinified from its own grapes, most of which also grow in the Sassicaia DOC monopoly position, San Guido's "second wine" has grown beyond itself. Spicy, earthy bouquet with hints of tobacco, clove and lavender, dense and juicy on the palate with fresh red and black berry fruit. The tannins are well balanced and the finish is complex with a majestic elegance that will become even more refined with years of ageing in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"Concentrated and dense, with dark fruit flavors of blackberry, blueberry and black currant, this red also reveals black olive and iron accents. The tannins clamp down for now, yet this is balanced overall, with everything well-proportioned." Wine Spectator
"Aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries, chocolate, ground spices and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied with compact but supple and polished tannins. Spicy notes with hints of dried mushrooms and chocolate. Attractive with a lingering finish." James Suckling
"The Guidalberto 2021, an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from San Guido, is soft, juicy and seductive right from the start. The supple contours of the Merlot lend fleshiness to this medium-bodied, racy Maremma blend. Ripe red cherry fruit, spice, leather and tobacco are beautifully brought to the fore. Best of all, the 2021 will be easy to drink right from the start." Vinous
"The Tenuta San Guido 2021 Guidalberto, a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, shows tart cherry fruit with dark blackberry and plum tones. This vintage delivers particularly edgy and focussed fruit characteristics, elegantly framed by light spice, cola and earth. This vintage shows a heightened sense of intensity and territorial identity that is the hallmark of this storied winery." Wine Advocate
"Sparkling, intense ruby-purple colour. Opens with appealing notes of mint, blackberry and mulberry, with spicy cedar wood in the background. Fine-meshed, polished tannins characterise the palate, present, clear fruit, beautiful drinking flow." Falstaff
"According to Carlo Paoli, the winemaking director of Tenuta San Guido, the 2021 is the best Guidalberto he has ever produced. The proportion of Merlot was reduced to the typical 40% this year because the quality of the Cabernet Sauvignon was so good. The Guidalberto 2021 has a very deep colour, almost black with a narrow purple rim. It took about an hour to really open up, but then it had a wonderful range of aromas and flavours. Notes of cassis and blueberries, blue flowers, violets and iris are followed by a palate full of perfectly ripe blackberries and blueberries enveloped in smooth, creamy flavours. A wine of velvety richness balanced by vibrant acidity, with very pure, concentrated aromas and flavours. Delicious!" Decanter
"This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which has now undergone a refined stylistic redesign, also stands out: a wine with a nose of blackberries, with notes of Mediterranean scrub and rhubarb, then nuances of eucalyptus. Taut and crisp, with spicy tannins, juicy and beautifully persistent." Luca Gardini

“Rosso del Conte” Sicilia Contea di Sclafani DOC 2017
Deep crimson ruby red colour. On the nose, it smells of raspberries with beautiful concentration, a peppery tingle and perfectly integrated oak. Lively, crushed red berry fruit on the palate with long, finely chiselled tannins. It closes up a little on the finish, so you can expect much more, but for now it is already irresistible. Balanced and very elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
"This iconic Sicilian wine is made from Nero d'Avola (58%) and Perricone (42%) and comes from the eight-hectare San Lucio vineyard. The Tenuta Regaleali Tasca d'Almerita 2017 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte is easy to recognise in a blind tasting thanks to its characteristic aromas of blackcurrant, olive, aniseed and scorched earth. The wine transports you straight to beautiful Sicily in the heart of the Mediterranean." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Rosso del Conte captivates with a burst of citrus, black cherry and grilled herbs, accompanied by hints of cedar and undergrowth. It is racy and supple, with a wave of tart wild berry and mineral tones supported by a core of vibrant acidity. Grippy tannins are added towards the end. The 2017 finishes long and persistent with a rich, primary concentration. Notes of medicinal blackberries, liquorice and cocoa linger for up to a minute. The length alone is impressive, but the 2017 will need time to fully integrate. Nevertheless, I look forward to tasting it again in four to five years." Vinous
"This historic single-vineyard blend of Nero d'Avola and Perricone in 2017 is dusty, earthy and woody, with a depth of dark fruits and overtones of lavender and violet. In the mouth it's intense, ripe and spicy, combining sweetness of dried cherry with wild strawberry and black cherry. Balsamic freshness gives contrasting lift to the hefty but fine-grained tannins, while the finish is super-bright and saline with a kick of raspberry. Superb." Decanter
"A traditional blend based on Nero d'Avola Perricone and from vines that only produce a few grams, a concentrate of intensity and history. On the nose, cherries in alcohol, mentholated notes and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is dense and tight, with a fruity, mentholated finish." Luca Gardini
"Elegant, bright ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. Exciting and inviting nose of ripe raspberries, wild strawberries, a hint of elderberries, then mint and sage, delicate hints of iron. Compact on the palate with tightly woven, savoury tannins, excellent length, slightly resinous and fruity undertone, rich in finesse and long." Falstaff

“Rubiolo 30 anni” Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Chianti Classico Rubiolo shows its delicately spicy side on the nose with cloves, cinnamon, lavender, wild dark cherries and blackberries that are beautifully ripe but not overripe. There are also floral hints. The fruit for this extremely good value wine comes from Castellina and Panzano, whereby the fullness and richness of the Panzano region are clearly noticeable. The finish is soft and velvety. It is the exceptional balance of the wine that really sets it apart. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium to deep carmine red colour. Concentrated, full yet cool nose of cherry fruit. Spicy cherry fruit with a layer of grainy tannins. Great balance and length." Jancis Robinson
"The Chianti Classico Rubiolo 2021 is a soft, fruity wine that should be drunk now and over the next few years as long as the flavours remain vibrant. Juicy red cherry fruit, orange peel, mint and white flowers burst from the glass. This exuberant, juicy Chianti Classico is a delight." Vinous
"Aromas of ripe red fruit, liquorice, spices and pink peppercorns. Medium to full-bodied, juicy and exciting with lively acidity and polished tannins. Notes of walnuts and savoury herbs on the finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo from organic farming is a wine with an excellent value. The wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese from three vineyards in Castellina, Panzano and Badia a Passignano. The wine has a dark ruby red colour, and although the aromatic intensity is not very pronounced, there are delicately fragrant notes of cherry, raspberry and blood orange that are powerful and bright to the touch. There are also beautiful floral notes." Wine Advocate
"The idea of drinkability and home freshness, without sacrificing complexity. The nose is faceted, red currant with touches of wild mint and nuances of carnation. The mouthfeel is savory, with hints of small red fruits and a balsamic-floral return." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Cherry accentuated bouquet with hints of violet blossoms, clove, cigar box and a pleasant spicy sweetness. Dense and expressive on the palate, it opens vibrantly and multilayered and then reveals a beautiful load of black cherry, exotic spices and a fine salty vein. The perfectly balanced tannin always provides the necessary balance and gives it a racy, very long finish with its exceedingly refined flavour components. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium to deep ruby red. Perfumed, spicy nose with mineral notes. Fine polished fruit that is really fresh. Long, grainy tannins. Lush and fresh at the same time." Jancis Robinson
"The Castiglion del Bosco 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is robust and powerful from the start, showing broad shoulders and plenty of muscle. But at the end of the day, the wine's concentration remains on the medium to medium-bodied side of the spectrum. It remains firmly within the confines of Sangiovese. Dark fruits and blackcurrants segue into savoury notes of toasted spices, black olives, earth and rusty nails." Wine Advocate
"In the far northwest of Montalcino, the sprawling Castiglion del Bosco estate stretches over several hills of varying heights, exposures and textures. From 42 hectares dedicated to Brunello comes this impressive production. The 2018 does not explode with its fragrance, but slowly unfolds its suggestive floral scents. These reach a crescendo on the palate, melding seamlessly with joyful, pure pomegranate and cherry flavours. The supple tannins have a velvety texture. Unrestrained and fluid, it's hard to resist now." Decanter
"Ripe berries and hints of red liquorice and herbs on the nose, medium-bodied on the palate with fine, tightly packed tannins and a taut finish for now. Give it two years to relax a little. Taste from 2025." James Suckling
"The nose puts cherries front and center, intertwined with roses with heavier tar and graphite, before umami flavors of mushroom, balsamic vinegar, seaweed and soy slowly emerge. On the chalky palate, dark chocolate pushes up against the showboating cherries before a kick of spice sets up a long, energetic finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Exuding a dusty blend of cedar spice, mentholated herbs, rose petals and sour cherry, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino feels round and supple, with floral red and black fruits complemented by a subtle hint of sweet spice. The palate leaves a bitter aftertaste of sour berries, while a touch of residual acidity gives the wine a pleasing freshness and a gentle tannin slowly retreats. The 2018 has improved every time I've tasted it over the past five months, and it now shows the robustness of northwestern Montalcino Sangiovese, but in a wonderfully balanced way." Vinous
"Rich at the start, with a touch of glycerine in the texture before civilised tannins take over on the finish. It offers notes of plum, cherry, earth, tobacco and iron that come through, with a firm grip of tannins on the finish." Wine Spectator
"From a parcel of the Capanna vineyard, one of the most accomplished expressions of the winery run by managing director Simone Pallesi. Pomegranate notes on the nose, with balsamic nuances of eucalyptus and rhubarb. Salty, juicy tannins on the palate, fruity-balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

“Brolio Bettino” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM
This red wine in Riserva quality is dedicated to Bettino Ricasoli, who wrote down the grape variety mix of today's Chianti back in 1872. But he was much more than that: twice Prime Minister of the united Italy (1861 and 1866), founder of the daily newspaper "La Nazione", agricultural researcher and "father" of the first Chianti product specification. The creation of this wine interprets his tireless determination to create an independent Chianti style that is both traditional and contemporary to this day.
Chianti Classico Brolio Bettino captivates with a hauntingruby red colour. The intense and inviting aroma of dark fruit is underpinned with fine balsamic notes. The refined flavour is flawless and polished with well-proportioned acidity and perfectly integrated tannins, powerful and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"The very reliable Classico of the house, in this edition in big dust, from Sangiovese in purity. Notes of red cherries, a hint of eucalyptus and cinnamon, with a touch of liquorice powder. Iodised on the palate, with tannins perfectly integrated into the body and a final emergence of cloves and plums." Luca Gardini

“Badiòla” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family has for the first time vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione to reflect the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiòla.
Badiòla is the historic name of a vineyard in the municipality of Radda, whose grapes have been vinified separately as Gran Selezione by the Mazzei family since the 2017 vintage. Bright ruby, a restrained but clear nose of wild berries, blue flowers, undergrowth, and hints of dark pepper. On the palate, Badiòla is masterfully balanced, almost weightless. The very well integrated tannin makes it seem supple from the first to the last glass and impresses with a long finish - its elegance is great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Homely bouquet of wild berries, spices and tobacco; harmonious on the palate, fine-grained tannins, accentuated acidity, stylish finish on notes of maraschino cherries and pepper." Vinum
"Medium ruby red with orange reflections. The most compact of the winery's three Gran Selezioni. Elegant, soft fruit that is less baroque than elegant. Long, tangy finish of raspberries and cherries with supple but long tannins." Jancis Robinson
"A juicy and ripe wine with freshness and brightness for the Radda zone in Chianti Classico. Medium-bodied. Spicy. Orange peel." James Suckling
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Fonterutoli Badiòla is a refined and elegant wine with precise aromas of cherry, blackberry, spice, earth and pressed violet. The six-hectare site consists of a mixture of slate Galestro soils and sandstone. The mineral signature is beautiful in this wine." Wine Advocate
"The great Gran Selezione of Mazzei, from three different Sangiovese clones and a mass selection. A wine of great gustatory-olfactory impact, with notes of berry jam, wild mint and gardenia, with iodine sensations. Iodine on the palate too, with a fruity-floral return and flavourful compactness." Brunello di Montalcino “La Casa” DOCG 2018
Bright, intense ruby-garnet colour. Multi-layered aromas of sweet red fruits meld into rose petals, liquorice, spices and mint. Firm and polished on the palate, floral notes provide vibrancy, finely woven tannins and balanced acidity provide structure and stability, beautifully articulated and juicy on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"A classic, with a seductive bouquet of berries and blossoms; a beautiful finish, invigorating acidity, the perfect blend of elegant juiciness and pithy substance that should definitely be enjoyed with food." Vinum
"The aroma already shows a lot of intensity with ripe cherries and plums, plus a bouquet of floral notes, violets, lavender, but also "powerful" notes such as iron, blood and cedar wood. Very dense on the palate, with present, still slightly restraining but mature tannins, sweet berry fruits, shows, as so often, origin and character with a lot of Sangiovese spice. Bravo!" Weinwisser
"Quite firm, moderately woody-spicy, slightly dried-vegetable aroma of mixed berries and a little cherry with a hint of leather, dried meat, tobacco and some black olives. Ripe, youthful, firm, juicy fruit, present, ripe, crumbly-sandy tannins and a delicate bite, light tobacco and pencil wood notes in the background, a hint of iced confectionery, roasted nuances and coffee, good substance and persistence, a certain depth, salt in the background, relatively accessible at first, but closes up a little with air, very good, juicy and spicy finish." Wein-Plus
"Brilliant ruby colour with a fine garnet sheen. Compact nose with notes of dark cherry, raspberry and tobacco, some beetroot in the background. Polished and finely meshed tannin structure, dark berry fruit, shows increasing pressure on the final, a highly elegant Brunello." Falstaff
"The Brunello di Montalcino 2018 Vigna La Casa was born in a beautiful vineyard with long vistas and warm sunsets. You can definitely taste the sweet spice and cinnamon from the barrel ageing, but the wine also presents a good amount of dark fruits and plums. It finishes with soft tannins and even a hint of oaky sweetness that emphasises its accessibility." Wine Advocate
"The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa 2018 emerges from the glass with a beguiling blend of exotic spices, balsamic herbs, crushed ash stones and dried black cherries. It washes over the palate with a silky wave of ripe dark fruit, complemented by notes of liquorice and cocoa. Fine-grained tannins frame the finish, while residual acids keep the mouth watering and the plum notes fade under a hint of purple flowers. This is a radiant rendition of La Casa, a vineyard located on the crest of the Montosoli hill, opposite the town of Montalcino." Vinous
"The nose features floral aromas of roses, pomegranates, cherries and oranges, along with fresh undertones of soil and graphite. On the palate, the fruit sweetens, before a warm, spicy finish. Refined tannins create a silky, sensuous mouthfeel." Wine Enthusiast
"The other great classic from Montosoli cru, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary since it was first marketed. Redcurrants on the nose, a hint of wild sage and liquorice. It is dense and very persistent on the palate." Luca Gardini
"Leads with graphite and oak spice aromas, with flavours of plum, black cherry, eucalyptus and tobacco lurking underneath. Dense, with firm but polished tannins and guided by a lively acidity, it finishes with a long, complex aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Lots of blue and sweet berry fruit with heady rose and floral notes on the nose, plus hot chocolate, sandalwood, toffee and nutmeg. It is full-bodied with ripe, muscular tannins that are superbly integrated. Powerful, but with a transparency and clarity that lends it beauty. Long, graceful finish. Better from 2024." Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020
Located in the south of Montalcino, Ciacci Piccolomini's sprawling estate is characterised by warm, fragrant afternoon breezes from the Mediterranean. The wines are typically very fragrant and have a higher alcohol content, but also plenty of freshness and focus. In the aromas we find sun-kissed cherries and raspberries, red roses, tobacco, sage and thyme. Light-footed on the palate with grainy tannins that dissolve easily, this wine is already very accessible. It is literally fuelled by the golden light that falls on this part of Tuscany in the last hours of the day. A wine full of personality and identity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, spicy bouquet framed by cedar spice and balsamic notes with fully ripe fruit, blue berries, ripe cherries, leather and sweet spices. Juicy and incredibly beguiling on the palate with red sour cherry, pomegranate and redcurrant as well as chocolate, followed by delicate mineral and herbal notes with balsamic nuances. Very juicy and full of finesse, balanced and yet so seductive, stylishly modern Brunello with super ripe tannins. It scores with its refined and balanced style on the spicy final." Weinwisser
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is not to be missed, with a burst of crushed plums and black cherries underscored by sweet herbs, a hint of tobacco and wilted violets. It is round and supple, with dark red fruits, autumnal spices running through it and a hint of cocoa embellishing the finish. Despite its depth and concentration, the 2020 retains its energy while being wonderfully refined, with fine-grained tannins that resonate under a hint of lavender and mocha." Vinous
"The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a grippy, full-bodied wine with flavours of black fruit, crushed stone, grilled rosemary and lavender. The wine shows a fleshy and ripe texture with chewy fruit flavours in this hot vintage." Wine Advocate
"Elegant and very well balanced. Nose with corniolo sensations, then caper fruits, black pepper in grains and hints of eucalyptus. Juicy and taut mouthfeel, with sapid tannins. It closes with memories of small fruits and balsamic sensations, accompanied by iodine memories." Luca Gardini
"A broodingwine with vibrancy and complexity, exuding restrained cherries and raspberries as well as hints of ash and fresh orange peel. Foliage and fleshy minerality add an extra dimension. The attack is lush and ripe, with full body, velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and violet-soaked cherries on the finish. Real precision here." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Pelagrilli” DOCG 2019
At a young age, Pelagrilli 2019 is already more open and pleasing than Pacenti's flagship Vecchie Vigne from the same vintage. The bouquet is rich and engaging with dark cherries, herbs and young leather. The palate is powerful, precise and excellently structured, with the recognisable wood well integrated. In addition to a very appealing extract sweetness, the long final reveals salty notes that are otherwise only found in Casanova di Neri's Tenuta Nuova. A wonderful Sangiovese from a great vintage with an almost ideal climate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant, shiny ruby red colour. Nose of forest fruits, milk chocolate, fine earthy notes and dried rose petal, mint, blood orange on the finish. Full-bodied on the palate, dark fruity, with a savoury, powerful finish, the alcohol is very well integrated, round and full, without missing its juiciness on the finish, long." Falstaff
"Dark ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. An abundance of spices and mineral, salty notes as well as hints of sweet oak on the nose. Smooth, multi-layered flavour of cherries and mint with firm, grainy tannins. Gentle, long and captivating." Jancis Robinson
"Pungent mint and eucalyptus mingle with oregano and rosemary. The palate is dense and compact with intense blackcurrant and all the oily balsamic herbs that flash on the nose. Through its robust weight, a bright acidity gives the wine vibrancy, brightness and focus. The tannins are dry yet supple, lending a grainy texture to the fruit. The wine has a distinct style and handles its high alcohol content of 15.5% with surprising aplomb." Decanter
"A beguiling blend of mint, cedar and spiced orange slowly gives way to dried strawberries as the spicy and seductive 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pelagrilli blossoms in the glass. Silky and round, it flows across the palate with a dense wave of ripe red and black fruits accompanied by a bitter bite of cloves and dark chocolate. The finish is long and inward, structured with sweet tannins, while hints of violet and lavender fade. I can really feel the heavy clay soils in this version of Pelagrilli as they give it weight and a plush feel, yet the energy of the vintage shines through." Vinous
"The Siro Pacenti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pelagrilli is strongly characterised by an oak tone that comes to the fore with a hint of campfire ash or freshly split firewood. The wine shows rock-solid concentration and a level of phenolic extraction not easily found in Montalcino, unless you make it your mission. The tannins are bitter and grippy, and the oak tannins overshadow the fruit tannins at this very young stage of the wine. The alcohol content is very high at 15.5 %. Nevertheless, the 2019 offers an excellent core of dark fruit, and it has the elements and freshness for long ageing." Wine Advocate
"Beautiful fresh fruit with crushed cherries, orange peel and flowers. Pure. Full-bodied with round and juicy fruit and a long, creamy finish. Flamboyant and beautiful with velvety and creamy tannins that offer a wonderful texture." James Suckling
"The north-east quadrant of the "hill", Siro Pacenti's beautiful sustainable project, the product of the youngest vines. Black cherry on the nose, nuances of wild mint and white pepper. Intense sip, iodised, with a return of sweet spices." Luca Gardini
"Packed with vibrant black cherries, blackcurrants and plums, as well as iron, toast and tobacco accents, this red wine shows a certain power and tension, but also grace and balance. The lingering aftertaste shows bright, ripe fruit and wild herbs." Wine Spectator

“Alberelli di Giodo” Carricante Sicilia DOC 2021
100% Carricante of incredible elegance and purity, its subtle aroma of herbs and citrus fruits is complemented on the palate by a wonderful minerality and salinity. A white wine full of expressiveness and finesse! SUPERIORE.DE
"Carlo Ferrini's white wine interpretation of old bush trees: A mineral start, then plenty of finesse, the acidity invigorating but excellently integrated, the final precise and long. For a balmy summer afternoon." Vinum
"Bright straw yellow colour with subtle silver notes. Opens with notes of fresh, crisp apple, some jasmine blossom and citrus fruit. Salty and clear on the palate, spreads out well, fine citrus notes." Falstaff
"Carricante is the characteristic white grape variety of Etna, and this unripened example - only the second vintage from legendary winemaker Carlo Ferrini and his daughter Bianca - captures the unique character of the place and the grape variety: Bright and salty, it presents aromas and flavours of lemon, lime and apple. It is structured and ripe, but also very fresh, with a stony, salty wave followed by a subtle, creamy lemon confit. The finish is very long, fine and herbaceous. Marvellous." Decanter
"Lots of jasmine and honeysuckle with flavours of sliced pear and apples that develop into a medium body with wonderful depth and intensity. Great length. No wood. Flinty in flavour. Pure." James Suckling
"The Alberelli di Giodo 2021 Sicilia Carricante hits just the right mix of citrus fruit and salty minerals. The wine is balanced and intense and shows more complexity than one might expect. As it matures, it will develop even more complexity and show some of the beautiful Riesling-like petrol flavours over time. Production is limited to around 3,500 bottles." Wine Advocate
"Pure Carricante from an impeccable cru, a jewel produced in a few bottles of great refinement. On the nose, notes of candied lemon, thyme, then chinotto and a hint of jasmine. On the palate, it is taut, flavoursome, with a return of citrus fruits and floral sensations." Luca Gardini

"This wine has aromas of cherry pits, plums, nutmeg, cedar and some balsamic. It is full-bodied with tangy acidity and spicy, fleshy layers of fruit accompanied by sinewy tannins. A little linear. Powerful finish." James Suckling
"The La Gerla 2018 Brunello di Montalcino La Pieve also shows a thicker and more concentrated side, similar to the Brunello annata. I would argue that this density even goes a step further, with more texture and weight perceived on the palate. This powerful, full-bodied approach is accompanied by ripe cherries, blackberries, smoked spices and leather. There is a hint of sour fruit on the finish." Wine Advocate
"Deep and savoury, this red shows aromas of black cherry, blackberry, eucalyptus, rosemary, iron and earth. With assertive tannins, this finishes with a chewy, compact feel." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino La Pieve exudes ripe strawberry and blueberry fruit in the glass, accompanied by crushed stone and violet pastilles. It is silky-soft and supple, with a depth of ripe red and black berries supported by a core of vibrant acidity. The final is of great depth and length, along with classic tannins that slowly fade lavender-scented plums and a hint of cocoa. The 2018 La Pieve is a real charmer." Vinous
"Raw material of great crispness for this new jewel, result of Sergio Rossi's vision. Notes of red plums on the nose, hints of undergrowth and wild mint, rhubarb on the finish. The mouthfeel is juicy and taut, with succulent tannins, mentholated notes return on the finish." Luca Gardini
"The sanguine, umami nose is a well-laid charcuterie board of carpaccio, Parmesan, dried tomatoes, olives and a cup of pomegranate seeds, with a dusting of oregano and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The palate turns sweeter and juicier with dried fruit, but the tomatoes and herbs linger through a sophisticated, bitter finish." Wine Enthusiast

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Poggio San Polo Brunello is a selection of the best grapes from the estate's various vineyard sites. It opens very engagingly with dark fruit, including plenty of black cherry and dark plum, optimally rounded off by a fine balsamic herbal spice and notes of white pepper. The palate has an almost perfect texture, a suppleness and silkiness that is refreshed and carried by a well-proportioned, refined Sangiovese acidity. Dark berry flavours, long, deep and with a very remarkable, slightly mineral final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour with delicate garnet-red rim highlights. Alternating cherry fruit and cigar box on the nose. Harmonious and fresh on the palate, lively acidity, well-integrated tannins, lots of marzipan on the finish, lingers for a remarkably long time." Falstaff
"San Polo is located on the south-eastern flank of Montalcino. Monte Amiata rises above the estate and provides a constant breeze that keeps the humidity low. The 16 hectares are divided into eight plots and are blended depending on the vintage. The brick-coloured 2018 opens with aromas of charcoal, then is joined by smoky wild berries, dried orange peel and a hint of juniper. The core is richly concentrated without being overbearing, while supple tannins fill the mouth with an assertive, balanced structure. It finishes with an earthy hint of liquorice root." Decanter
"Shows earthy, rustic aromas that hint at a slight reduction, giving way to flavours of plum, cherry, rose, juniper, eucalyptus and iron. The powerful tannins characterise the compact finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, a certified organic wine, shows a savoury character that accompanies the wine from start to finish on the palate. There is a core of black fruit, but the real highlight is the spicy contour of dark chestnut shells, acacia honey, ploughed earth and roasted rosemary that fills the balloon of the glass. This Brunello finishes on an acidic note and shows tannins that could use a few more years to soften. This is a wine of medium concentration." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of sour plums, cherry stones, bark and iodine, with some dried herbs. So fresh, tangy and flavourful, with bright berry fruit and savoury moss notes. Fine and integrated tannins. Medium body. Everything is about balance." James Suckling
"The mainly earthy, sanguine nose is enlivened by the slightly tart sweetness of the plums. This pleasant dynamic continues on the palate before finally giving way to a chocolaty, coffee-like finish. Firm but supple tannins provide structure, while the acidity brings warmth." Wine Enthusiast
"South-east of the denomination, a project of the Allegrini family, still relatively young but at the highest quality level, like this 2018. Pomegranate on the nose, with a hint of wild mint and juniper. Crisp on the palate, with salty tannins and a fruity-menthol finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Pertimali” DOCG 2017
The even stricter selection of the grapes in 2017 led to a total of half the number of bottles compared to previous vintages. The result, however, is impressive: An extremely attractive bouquet with earthy notes, only gradually revealing ripe strawberries, spicy herbs, leather and a little coffee. As it progresses, spicy orange peel, sour cherry and mint, followed by salty minerals. The lively acidity ensures that the wine remains fresh and supple despite its compact structure. The initially firm tannins gracefully envelop the pretty fruit core with further aeration, and in the long final we then discover sweet spices and traces of white pepper. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Sassetti Livio Pertimali 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is quite bright and lifted with cherries and fresh fruits that pop from the glass. The primary intensity is radiant in this wine, setting it apart from many of its peers. It covers the palate with mid-weight intensity, nice acidity and silky tannins. The brightness you get here is so attractive now, so I see little reason to wait much longer before pulling this cork." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino makes itself known with a burst of dusty black raspberries, mentholated herbs, crushed ashen stone and dark flowery undergrowth. Silky-smooth and round in feel, it impresses with a cooling wave of mint-infused wild berry fruits mixed with balsamic spices and wood-smoked salts. While the 2017 doesn’t have the weight and density you’d expect from such a young Pertimali, yet it makes up for it with grace and purity, leaving a light coating of tannins and minerals to mingle throughout the finale." Vinous
"Black cherry and mushroom with some dried flower undertones. Full-bodied with fine velvety tannins and a juicy and succulent finish. The tannins are very polished for a 2017. Try from 2023 onwards." James Suckling
"One of the founding wineries of the Brunello Consortium, an ancient wisdom that proceeds in the line of tradition to realize wines of excellence. The nose is neat and intriguing, with small red fruits, touches of red currant, star anise and undergrowth, with a finish of freshness, on the notes of wild mint. The mouthfeel is juicy and dense, closing with officinal return." Luca Gardini

“Casalferro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
A study commissioned by Francesco Ricasoli has shown that there are 19 different types of soil on Brolio. This made it possible to precisely define the sites that are particularly good for Merlot, from which wines with a unique structure and unmistakable flavour are produced. With the 2018 vintage, Francesco Ricasoli is now presenting the "new" Casalferro, whose grapes come from the three different vineyards Vigna Casalferro, Vigna Pecchierino and Vigna Sodacci. Although the production volume has been drastically reduced, the result is impressive!
A Tuscan Merlot as it is written in the book. On the nose, complex aromas of dark red fruit, delicate cedar wood, leather, very spicy. Initially taut and dense on the palate, it opens up as it progresses and expands with impressive elegance. The interplay between bouquet and complexity on the palate is perfectly balanced and its impressive size is already unmistakable. This Merlot will have a great future. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red with a garnet-red rim. Fresh sour cherries and plums on the nose, with violets and a touch of coriander in the background. Fruity and juicy on the palate, with well-integrated tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"A rich, dark expression of Merlot, this red walks the fine line between austerity and generosity, with the latter gaining prominence over the course of the fine finish. Dense, with the tight texture working in tandem with black cherry, blackberry, iron and spice flavours." Wine Spectator
"The Barone Ricasoli 2019 Casalferro showcases its potential in a classic vintage. The DNA of the wine, which is made exclusively from Merlot, is characterised by the grape variety, but the terroir also plays a major role in this presentation. You know you're drinking a wine from Tuscany thanks to a delicate bundle of flavours that includes wild cherry, violet fruit, violets and spices. This wine gives an Italian personality to a French grape variety." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Casalferro is magnificent. Ripe dark cherry and plum fruit, liquorice, spice, new leather, menthol and mocha are combined in a generous, lush Merlot that offers much of the vibrancy of a Chianti Classico." Vinous
"Blueberry, plum and red and black berry scents mingle with wildflowers, spices and a hint of roasted coffee beans. Stony and sapid in the mouth, it's all about elegance with beautiful cool blue fruits accompanied by a touch of creaminess on the mid-palate, then a long, super-fresh and poised finish." Decanter
"Super flavours of fresh violets, black olives, crushed raspberries and blackberries. Also a hint of dried flowers. Full-bodied but compact and polished, with superbly crafted tannins that compress the palate and give it a velvety texture. Taut and concentrated. The most precise and refined Casalferro ever. It needs at least three or four years to show what it's made of, but it has great potential. Best from 2026 onwards." James Suckling
"Produced for the first time not only with the best grapes from the vineyard of the same name, but also with contributions from the Pecchierino and Sodacci vineyards, this is a pure Merlot of stature with intense aromas of blueberries, currants and balsamic herbs on the nose. The flavour is elegant and spectacularly clean. Salty and spicy tannins, excellent drinkability." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “40 anni” DOCG 2018
40 years Brunello di Montalcino by Casanova di Neri: Intense bouquet of sour cherry with nuances of chocolate, spices, liquorice and herbs. Energetic and highly vital on the palate. Wonderfully layered and seamlessly integrated dark fruit flavours open up with each sip, paired with a subtle vein of salt. Its tannins are like velvet and silk, the long, sweeping finish reveals that Sangiovese excellence we love so much at Casanova di Neri! SUPERIORE.DE
"Also convincing in this vintage: Scents of cherries, flowers and herbs; intense on the palate, robust texture, lots of character and juice, excellent length on complex notes of wild berries and spices. Pleases with its complexity and elegance." Vinum
"Dense, still closed bouquet with dark red and blue fruits reminiscent of plum and dark cherry, clearly tobacco and chocolate as well as balsamic nuances. Powerful, immensely compact, but materially melting palate with juicy contours, quite different from the warm 2017, much more grippy with a tightly gripping, densely meshed, but definitely sweet tannin. final grippy and animated with cranberry juice. Good future potential." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby-garnet with brightening rim. Appealing nose with notes of blood orange, cranberries and crisp cherries, Mediterranean herbs in the background. Shows very good tension on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, fine-meshed tannin, saline, a classic." Falstaff
"Lots of clean cherry and plum character on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with dense, chewy tannins and a long finish. Nice freshness to the fruit, but give the tannins a year or two to settle. 40th anniversary bottling. Best from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino keeps me returning to the glass to savour its pretty bouquet of dusty flowers, exotic spices and dried strawberries. The palate is like pure silk, seamless and supple, with a depth of dark red fruits and mineral tones that give a more tactile feel towards the finish. Balsamic herbs, cedar and tobacco resonate on the long and dramatic final, while fine tannins frame the experience with youthful poise. As is often the case, Casanova di Neri is a master at producing one of the region's most balanced and enjoyable Brunellos." Vinous
"The Casanova di Neri 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, with a special commemorative label celebrating its 40th anniversary (1978-2018), is lush and carefully concentrated to offer intensity and richness of structure. The bright fruit remains intact in this wine, with plenty of cherry and blackberry, an encouraging indication of the future cellar potential of this bottle. Many Brunellos from this vintage show faded or dried fruit, but fortunately not this wine. The acidity is mild and fades gently into the background, and the tannins are well integrated." Wine Advocate
"A bright, fruity style that offers aromas of cherries, strawberries, currants, white pepper and minerals. Accents of almonds and earth emerge on the finish. It stands out for its balance and pleasant length." Wine Spectator
"Another fundamental label from Casanova di Neri, a compendium of craftsmanship and territorial vocation. Black raspberry, with balsamic and officinal notes, like sage, on the nose, then liquorice nuances. The mouthfeel is iodine-juicy, with a return of medicinal herbs and liquorice." Luca Gardini
