Barolo Ginestra “Pajana” DOCG 2020
Pajana - the most modern wine in the entire Clerico range - presents itself as a closed, compact wine with great potential. Rich ruby colour with a slight garnet rim. Compact nose, with rich notes of blackberry, dark cherries and a hint of cinchona bark in the background. Literally explodes on the palate, lots of ripe, present fruit, then opens up with lots of fine-meshed tannins, savoury depth, full-bodied pressure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Clear, firm and deep, polished, red and black berry flavours with leather, herbs and dried rose petals, pomegranate, tobacco and a hint of tomato essence. Ripe, polished, very juicy, youthful fruit, fine acid bite and plenty of ripe, still youthful but crumbly tannin, dried rose petals and a little herbs on the palate, peppery, ethereal notes, also a hint of juniper, persistent, deep and multi-layered, still completely undeveloped, salt in the background, a hint of cocoa, very good to long, firm finish with noble juice and fine spice." Wein-Plus
"Sparkling, light ruby red colour. Elegant bouquet of small wild berries, with notes of rose petals, precious wood and a hint of mocha on the finish. Powerful on the palate, very juicy, with clear fruit and silky tannins and a long finish." Falstaff
"Powerful, muscular nose. Solid on the palate with plenty of mass and grip. A serious, age-worthy wine. The finish is very dry, but convincing. Long. Muscular. Almost salty." Jancis Robinson
"The bouquet is quiet but full of potential, offering hints of wild mint, thyme and tart red berries under a veil of sweet and savoury spices. The palate reveals a refined structure with elegant tannins that accentuate the dried cherry flavours, while a savoury undertone hints at the complexity that will only unfold after years in the cellar." Wine Enthusiast
"Fragrant, harmonious and charming, this red touches all the bases. Cherry, strawberry, floral, menthol, iron and sweet spice flavors mingle with the lively acidity and fine-grained tannins. This firms up on the finish but remains elegant and long." Wine Spectator
"Pale ruby red colour and intense floral bouquet of fresh violets, roses, bergamot-like citrus fruits, pomegranate and sweet spices. The attack is soft, with velvety tannins on the mid-palate, a full body and crisp, melting acidity. The finish is a little austere with notes of cherry stones. Lots of good substance here. Enjoyable now, but will improve with ageing." James Suckling
"The Domenico Clerico 2020 Barolo Ginestra Pajana shows a great balance between dark fruit and integrated spice, which comes from the increasingly gentle ageing in oak. The results are impeccably smooth, and the fruit remains bright, very lively. It finishes dry with smoky tar and liquorice. However, the Pajana has a great fruit profile that persists throughout. The combination of fruit and tannins overwhelms the palate, making this a significant Barolo worthy of its age." Wine Advocate
"The unique style of the Clerico house in a "jewel" from Monforte d'Alba. On the nose, notes of red plums, with sensations of undergrowth and a hint of Valdostan mint, with nuances of nutmeg on the finish. The mouthfeel has salty tannins and a return of red fruits and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Beautifully weighted, the 2019 edition is full yet agile with enough structure to carry it over the next decade. Above all, it emphasises the freshness and balance of the vintage: the aromas unfold slowly, but are very floral, with cherry and thyme blossoms underscored by peppery notes. Crisp red plums and juicy cherries dominate the palate, with the youthful, grippy tannins needing a little time to integrate perfectly. SUPERIORE.DE
"It opens with a fruity flavour of red and blue fruits, with spicy notes reminiscent of cinnamon and cardamom. Dense and creamy in the mouth, very juicy, still a little grippy in the tannins, a modern Brunello that should be ready to drink in 1 to 2 years." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red colour. Ripe blackberries, some undergrowth, dried oregano and loam on the nose. Great tension on the palate, juicy, dark fruit, tightly woven tannins and a precise final with pressure." Falstaff
"Deep to dark ruby red in colour. Deep, brooding and backward on the nose, but with real precision. Lots of juicy red fruit and impressive, fine-grained tannins. Still a little embryonic, but already hard to resist. Pure class." Jancis Robinson
"Pure and refined wine with lively raspberries, red cherries, rosehips and a hint of citrus blossom. Medium to full-bodied with firm but silky tannins. Excellent acid backbone. Enjoyable now, but give it another two to three years to develop." James Suckling
"Deep notes of dried black cherries meet cedar shavings and worn leather as the seductive Brunello di Montalcino 2019 slowly unfolds in the glass. It is surprisingly juicy and energising, with a pure blend of red fruits and inner flowers accompanied by fresh acidity. Fine tannins assert themselves on the finish as the 2019 takes on a youthful tension and pinches the cheeks, while tart cranberry notes fade into a youthful, crisp final." Vinous
"The certified organic Col d'Orcia 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows ripe fruit, blackberry, earthy notes, liquorice and, generally speaking, a much bigger and riper fruit profile compared to its peers. It offers a full-bodied Brunello opulence that can be enjoyed in the short or medium term, and the wine delivers flavours of dried fruit such as plum and fig to finish. The tannins are velvety and contribute to the richness of the rather forward and immediate mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 is immediately inviting and expressive. It seduces with lovely tones of red rose, cherry and sweet thyme. Expansive and spacious, the palate unfolds fluidly with layers of delicious red plum and pomegranate. Hibiscus, rosewater and orange hide in every crevice. A brilliant demonstration of the flavourful juiciness of Sangiovese. Deceptively gentle at the start, fine sandy tannins build in a worthy crescendo." Decanter
"This densely packed version is resonant and persistent, with fine integration of all its components, though today it is compact and austere, revealing flavours of cherry, raspberry, rose, earth and minerals. Give it the benefit of the doubt." Wine Spectator
"Notes of marasca, geranium and eucalyptus on the nose. Juicy tannins on the palate, balsamic and floral notes, compact flavour and crispness." Luca Gardini

Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba “Aeroplanservaj” DOCG 2019 motif 1
A beautiful, very sensual, feminine wine that is only vinified in the best vintages. Exquisitely flavoured with dark fruit, elegant and fine on the palate with plenty of fruit and length. It was named after the nickname once given to the young wild Clerico by his father: Aeroplan Servaj - wild aeroplane. And the labelling is just as wild and creative - there are six different labels! SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium red; caramel-fruity, inviting; juicy attack, fullness, round, dark fruity, lots of good tannin, pleasing." Merum
"Medium ruby red colour. Complex, spicy nose of red fruits and pure red fruits with enveloping tannins on the palate. Great balance and length. Firmly structured, yet elegant and with a certain suppleness." Jancis Robinson
"Aeroplanservaj is a kind of futuristic label for the first Barolo produced in Serralunga by Domenico Clerico. Oscar Arrivabene, the winery's winemaker, explained that 10% of the oak barrels are used for ageing in barriques; this is more of a logistical decision than a stylistic one, as the plot in Serralunga is so small. The wine has hints of smoky woods, dried cherries, cinnamon spice and a heady violet note that permeates the structure. The attack is austere, not rustic, just wild and youthful. The tannins need to be tamed at the moment, but it's a Serralunga full of detail and I'd wager it will age well." Decanter
"Firm, complex and deep, slightly iodised, also fleshy and a little herbal aroma of ripe black rather than red berries with a hint of soy sauce, tomato essence and floral nuances. Firm, tart and juicy fruit, surprisingly fresh despite all its power, a certain acid bite and fine, youthful tannins, slightly smoky notes on the palate, a little cocoa and hints of coffee, peppery notes in the background, a little herbs and salt, good depth, still barely developed, tobacco traces, very good, firm, juicy and tart-spicy, again slightly smoky finish with peppery, juniper-like tones and noticeable alcoholic strength." Wein-plus
"Flavours of cherries and plums with some fresh roses follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Bright and lively. Taut. Firm and structured." James Suckling
"This red wine is rich but densely woven, providing a backdrop for the flavours of cherries, wild strawberries, earth, minerals and wild herbs. Balanced, even graceful, with fine intensity and a lingering aftertaste of fruit, minerals and herbs." Wine Spectator
"Brilliant ruby red with garnet-coloured rim. On the nose, initially fine earthy tones, some cold smoke, after some time Assam tea, ripe raspberries, cranberries, precious wood. Polished, creamy fruit on the palate, extremely energetic and with vibrant acidity, the tannins are powerful and firm, currently still a little young and wide-meshed, will mature well." Falstaff
"The first Serralunga from the historic Monforte winery, bottled for the first time in 2006, comes from a beautiful family story. Notes of cranberry on the nose, nuances of peony, undergrowth and eucalyptus." Luca Gardini
"With its colourful fantasy label, the Domenico Clerico 2019 Barolo Aeroplan Servaj shows dark fruit and a velvety texture with rusty nails and pencil shavings. This vintage is more concentrated and structured overall, and the result is both rich and very beautiful. The fruit comes from vines planted in 1994. The wine is aged mostly in large oak barrels and about 10% in barriques." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 1 articles per customerBarolo Cannubi DOCG 2019
The loose, sandy soils of Cannubi always ensure a special concentration of flavour, and this is particularly evident in this classic vintage. A clean bouquet of small red berries, violets and dried rose petals. A fine mineral note, a pinch of salt and plenty of fruit and a clearly contoured tannin structure on the multi-layered palate. A beautifully straightforward wine, powerful and elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Barolo Cannubi has notes of cherry brandy, cedar, dried leaves, mint and leather. There's a good bit of complexity here too, but these are the aromas and flavours I would expect from a slightly older wine. Sweet floral and spicy notes linger." Vinous
"This wine takes time to develop in the glass and will benefit from time in the cellar, but it is always worth tasting a wine in its youth to understand it. This Barolo's aromas meander out of the glass, swaying between crushed raspberry and macerated cherry, then amaro-like herbs, rosewood, cedar and baking spices. Firm and sturdy on the palate with tannins that mean business, the black cherry fruit sits at the core with wild thyme, licorice and leather holding court. Ensure to have a heart dish with this wine." Wine Enthusiast
"The Michele Chiarlo 2019 Barolo Cannubi is a full-bodied Nebbiolo with medium body and good structure. The bouquet exhibits a dusty, mineral tone that fades into crushed roses, cassis, blood oranges and violets. The Cannubi is always a classic wine, but in this well-balanced vintage it is particularly so." Wine Advocate
"A vineyard in the historic heart of Italy's oldest cru, rehabilitated with great agronomic skill. Notes of dogwood on the nose, then liquorice, a hint of humus and a slightly smoky finish. Spicy tannins on the palate, crisp and again with notes of fruit and undergrowth." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
With the exception of 2016 and 2019, the last eight years in the region around Montalcino have been characterised by warm and dry conditions. For this reason, Il Poggione has started to prioritise irrigation for emergencies (which is becoming more and more of a necessity in the south-west of Montalcino) and is looking for a better balance in the higher vineyards. This is not the only reason why Il Poggione is one of the top producers every year, with an extremely fair value.
Oenologist Alessandro Bindocci compares the 2019 and 2016 vintages as follows "Both Brunellos are quite classic, but the 2019 has more energy and fruit than the 2016 at the same stage."
Opens as a medium-dark appearance with a pretty Sangiovese lustre and ruby red shimmer. In the glass, the 2019 shows a wildly romantic side and a dense fruit profile. The aromatic focus is on blackberries, dried cherries, tobacco and a hint of smoked tobacco or horse saddle. On the palate, a contrasting spectacle of dark red fruits, sweet spices and salty mineral notes; all supported by a silky texture and lively acidity. As it progresses, it has a beautiful, firm grip and a stable backbone, with youthful tension and fine-grained tannins, which will give it great ageing potential. Il Poggione is a safe bet every year, and not just for us, and the 2019 edition is once again one of the best representatives of this noble appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Notes of blackberries and herbs, also tobacco; pithy structure, robust tannins, combines character and good length." Vinum
"Dense bouquet with ripe red and dark fruits, blueberries, wild strawberries, cassis and redcurrants. Behind this, the oak barrel ageing is also evident with a fine animal note, cedar, tobacco, chocolate, dark spices and herbs. Fleshy, dense palate with a coarse-meshed tannin network, but of the best quality. Very persistent and full-bodied on the final." Weinwisser
"Dark, youthful ruby red colour. Very closed and brooding with just a hint of fragrant raspberry, tea leaves and oak. Generous and compact on the palate. A layer of soft cherry and raspberry fruit, lined with quite powerful tannins that need more time. Carries its 15% with ease. Closes on the finish and needs more time." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of dried fruit, such as figs and dried cherries, followed by tree bark, rosemary and a hint of sandalwood. Full-bodied and creamy on the palate with a solid tannin structure. Wonderful length. Dense and opulent." James Suckling
"The Il Poggione 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows a developed bouquet with aromas of dried fruit, forest floor, crushed flowers and autumnal foliage. A second nose reveals dark liquorice, wet slate, cola and grilled rosemary. The tannins are powdery and dry." Wine Advocate
"It offers plenty of plum, cherry, iron, tobacco and undergrowth flavours supported by a plump texture that matches the dense structure, as well as a lively acidity that keeps everything in focus. Another year of ageing should allow the finish to expand and this wine to reach its full potential." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 vintage is very balanced, somewhere between 2016, 2013 and 2010. Sant'Angelo in Colle, which suffers in warmer vintages, has done very well and Il Poggione is a great example of the harmony of the area's wines in this vintage. At first sniff it is fruity, later becoming more restrained, with black cherry, violets, leather, graphite and the typical nutty finish. The chalky tannins are extracted but velvety, emphasised by an almost piquant acidity." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino draws the taster close to the glass with its dark and earthy blend of crushed ash stones giving way to rosemary, cedar, exotic spices and a core of raspberry jam. Enveloping and serene, it flows across the palate like pure silk, steadily building tension as tart wild berry and orange notes give way to a sweet herbal push. The 2019 finishes with tremendous length and is classically structured as crisp tannins linger and purple flowers slowly fade over a tactile layer of minerality. Il Poggione has captured the vibrancy of the vintage, yet it is still a baby today." Vinous
"Fresh nose, pomegranate, notes of lemongrass and ginger with citrus notes. Salty tannins on the palate, reminiscence of pomegranate and notes of ginger." Luca Gardini

Barolo Cerequio DOCG 2019
Barolo Cerequio is darker and richer than the Cannubi, but it too shows plenty of elegance in its dark cherries, plums, spices, cocoa and roasted coffee beans. Aromatics, fruit and structure are very well balanced in this delicious medium to full-bodied Barolo. As is so often the case with this bottling, the voice of Cerequio comes into its own. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium to deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Polished oak and mineral red fruits. Fantastic, juicy, generous yet cool palate with red fruits. Elegant and with a perfect dose of firm tannins. A wine worthy of this cru." Jancis Robinson
"Flavours of dried strawberries, meat and rose stems follow through to a medium body, with firm and slightly chewy tannins and a medium finish. Straightforward and racy. Better after 2027." James Suckling
"The Michele Chiarlo 2019 Barolo Cerequio is a bold and elegantly concentrated expression with good weight and persistence. This added richness is the secret of this vintage, and this wine carries that weight with ease and grace. Flavours of dark fruits, plums and spices give the wine a lift on the palate. This bottle should age in the cellar for a few more years." Wine Advocate
"Cerequio is an iconic cru and does not disappoint. Immediately aromas of warmed cherries, mint, eucalyptus and mixed spices breeze in and out of the wine while savory and earth notes try their best to be noticed. Tannins are so well-crafted, they provide a strong foundation but feel light as a feather while fruit, herbs and earth flavors create a triumvirate that would make ancient Rome blush." Wine Enthusiast
"From the refined microclimate of Cerequio, 300 metres above sea level, south/south-east exposure, soil of blue marl and medium calcareous sandstone. Notes of strawberry tree, then rhubarb and floral nuances of gerbera. Salty, acidic tannins on the palate, firm and persistent on the finish, with a fruity, floral aftertaste." Luca Gardini

Barolo Mosconi DOCG 2018
A few years ago, Pio Boffa, who has unfortunately passed away in the meantime, bought himself a "small" present for his 60th birthday. Not a new set of golf clubs, a picture hanging in the hall, a holiday for him and the family. No. Just a vineyard called Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, a region of Piedmont where four generations of the Pio Cesare dynasty never gained a foothold. Originally, the grapes from the 10-hectare vineyard were to enhance the quality of his classic Barolo, but after the first barrel samples, it was unmistakably clear to Pio Boffa that this would be at least an equal - if stylistically different - counterpart to the hitherto undisputed flagship Ornato.
Mosconi is more light-footed than Ornato, with red rather than black fruits dominating the nose, along with irresistible liquorice and a juiciness that will immediately earn it a top place in the entire appellation. On the palate, it has a precision that is unparalleled, less punchy than Ornato, but more elegant and subtle. SUPERIORE.DE
"Another transparent ruby red with garnet reflections. Exciting bouquet with distinct notes of blood oranges and candied orange peel, plus finest Dominican tobacco and leather, dazzling and individual. Elegant palate with fresh, cherry-influenced fruit, grippy, punchy, finely chiselled style with silky firm tannin, plus salty mineral nuances in the long finish." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby garnet with brightening rim. Very inviting and clear nose of sweet wild raspberries, cherry and rose petals, some cardamom in the background. Gripping, gripping tannin, shows discreet earthy notes, after truffle and tobacco, very grippy on the final, salty, needs a few more years." Falstaff
"Medium ruby red with orange reflections. Almost explosive minerality on the nose with a hint of sour cherry and a hint of spicy oak. Complex but still restrained on the nose. Wonderfully supple fruit with polished, finely honed but firm tannins almost a little reminiscent of Serralunga. Plenty of stuff to chew on and spectacular, layered flavours on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, with plum and cherry aromas, this Barolo also shows a spicy side of eucalyptus, liquorice and clove. Shows viscosity in texture as well as excellent balance. It finishes with dense, refined tannins and lingering notes of macerated fruit and savory." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barolo Mosconi is magnificent. It offers a complex blend of rose petals, dried herbs, iron, graphite, smoke, incense, scorched earth and blood orange, capturing all the complexity that makes the best Barolos from this site so compelling. Powerful and profound, but also very elegant, the 2018 is another fine Barolo from a winery that has made a pretty significant stylistic shift in recent years." Vinous
"Very compact on the nose and palate, with notes of dried red berries, truffle, sous-bois and dried flowers. Full-bodied with a fine tannin structure and a very long finish. Compact and solid. This wine still needs a lot of time to open up, but already shows real class. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"Compared to the Ornato, the 2018 Barolo Mosconi (with fruit from Monforte d'Alba) shows a tighter and more compact quality with a direct, linear and powerful approach. The bouquet builds vertical intensity, starting with tart fruit aromas and culminating in tar, rusty nails and camphor ash. This aromatic ascent is swift and the wine finishes with a very broad, all-encompassing performance." Wine Advocate
"From soils with a combination of silt, clay and, to a small extent, sandstone, a perfect photo of the terroir of Monforte. Cornel on the nose, with notes of pink grapefruit and clove, mouth with iodine-spicy tannins, crispness and tension, nice persistence." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Campo del Drago” DOCG 2018
Campo del Drago is a single vineyard of just 1.5 ha and is situated on a high plateau in the Montalcino appellation with a view of the Thyrrenian Sea. The grapes from here are only vinified separately in the best years to produce the Brunello of the same name, and the result is then eagerly awaited about 5 years later.
Campo del Drago 2018 is very closely linked to its terroir. Dark, concentrated colour with beautiful saturation and density. The bouquet reveals a unique minerality and complexity. The palate is intense, complex and deep. The tannins are present but remain very elegant thanks to the acidity. The finish with the sour almond note typical of Sangiovese is great proof of how characteristic the vintage was for this grape variety. Can still mature, but is already irresistible today. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby red. The nose really has the 'wow factor'. Still a little dense and closed, but with real purity of fruit on the nose and a hint of iodine. Pure fruit with lots of fresh acidity and rich, long, fine-grained tannins. Real elegance coupled with concentration. Not yet ripe." Jancis Robinson
"Although rich and focused on a core of bright cherry fruit, this vibrant red also evokes iron, wild herbs and Mediterranean scrub. It has visible but well-integrated tannins that remain juicy and carry through the long finish." Wine Spectator
"The Castiglion del Bosco 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Campo del Drago was born in one of the most beautiful panoramic vineyards in Tuscany. This wine is a tribute to this magical place. It offers a special intensity and power that you can perceive with all your senses. It has more fruit weight, more black and purple berries and more soft concentration that makes for a long finish. The tannins are still tight, so give the wine a few more years to integrate." Wine Advocate
"Dark fruits dominate the nose, but savory undertones of tar, soil and graphite emerge over time. On the palate, dried cherries and cranberries continue, before a balanced finish of dark chocolate and candied orange peel. Tannins keep things clean, while acidity contrasts the plush fruit." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Campo del Drago smells of an irresistible blend of gravel, spicy herbs, wild strawberries and rose tones. It is elegant yet refined, with silky texture and pure, ripe red and blue fruits that take on a crisp feel towards the finish, while inner violet and lavender tones arch across the palate. Long and savoury, the 2018 finishes with light tannins, packed with salty minerals and floral scents that refuse to end. The 2018 Campo del Drago is often dark and brooding to the extreme and impressed me greatly. It has a beautiful balance but also an admirable depth for this vintage. Well done." Vinous
"Fascinating nose with notes of spicy mushrooms, almost like truffles, along with ripe red berries and a hint of exotic dates. Full-bodied, with an excellent balance of ripe fruit, velvety but not chewy tannins and a long, tasty finish. This wine should be drunk now but will improve with age. Best from 2024." James Suckling
"Once again, Vigneto Capanna and slatey soils give power to this label of beautiful intensity. Blackcurrant on the nose, notes of liquorice and rhubarb, then citrus thyme. The mouthfeel is crisp and juicy, with a return of fruit and liquorice." Luca Gardini
"Powerful black cherry, red berry and earthy floral notes with a juicy underbelly of plum sauce and cola spice. Incredibly youthful and fervent with fine-grained tannins and a saline finish."Decanter

Radici Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
Bright, powerful ruby colour, aromas of cherry, redcurrant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and taut tannins that give it definition and lift to the flavours. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. It has outstanding potential. If you taste the decades-old wines from Mastroberardino (dating back to 1928), it becomes clear: these wines are monumental, immortal or at least for eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Ripe blackberries and rich plums on the nose, with a subtle hint of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, liquorice and a touch of leather in the background. Powerful but well-integrated tannins on the palate, with plenty of ripe fruit and a long final." Falstaff
"The nose is tart, spicy and assertive, with aromas of blackberry, pepper and hot iron. On the palate, black cherries reinforce the blackberry tartness before a new intrigue comes in the form of fresh herbs and a coffee bitterness. The acidity bumps up against the powerful but quiet tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Dark and intense, the 2017 Taurasi Radici Riserva glows with an intriguing blend of crushed ash stones, graphite, lavender and dried wild berries. Initially lean on the palate, it gains energy from a core of tart citrus and savoury spice, while tart red fruits saturate the senses. The 2017 leaves the mouth reeling with a mesh of fine tannins and a hint of sour orange that tickles the cheeks. It's still a baby today, but it has the balance to mature beautifully with time." Vinous
"Complex and deep character with ripe blackberries, sultanas, dried roses, dark chocolate, roasted walnuts, dark liquorice and wild mushrooms with some tar. Full-bodied, multi-layered and compact with a broad and velvety tannin structure that lingers on the palate. Classic, restrained style with a hint of sweet tobacco on the finish. Needs three to four years to fully develop." James Suckling
"An indispensable part of the peninsula's winemaking history, a Taurasi that is impossible not to call iconic. Cherries and laurel on the nose, a hint of eucalyptus, dogwood peel and undergrowth, salty, dense and compact in the mouth, with a citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Cascina Nuova” DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Bright ruby-garnet colour. Smooth and expressive on the palate, with sweet red cherries, blood orange, mint, wild flowers, cedar wood, sweet tobacco and aniseed. Very fine tannins on the palate, spicy, delicate and at the same time very rich and clear, with a long, balsamic final. Every year, Cascina Nuova is a prime example of how excellent Barolos can be produced at moderate prices. SUPERIORE.DE
"A beguiling bouquet of cherries, dried flowers and herbs; juicy on the palate with perfectly integrated tannins, striking acidity and a long final." Vinum
"Brilliant medium ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Still a little closed and with savoury, spicy notes. Serious and complex, it opens slowly to red fruits with a hint of black pepper, but more mineral than fruity or sweet. Still very compact and closed on the palate. Really elegant and refreshing, with firm tannins accompanying the fresh fruit on the finish. Serious stuff." Jancis Robinson
"The Barolo Cascina Nuova 2019 is bright, exuberant and beautifully lifted, straight out of the gate. Crushed flowers, dried herbs, sweet red cherries, cinnamon, spices and candy rise from the glass. Light and medium-bodied, with plenty of vigour, the 2019 is an absolute delight. I really like its energy. The concise Ravera tannins are also handled well." Vinous
"Balanced and harmonious, this red wine offers flavours of cherries, raspberries, spices, minerals and chocolate, supported by a backbone of refined tannins. It becomes even more concentrated in the long, mineral and spicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The Cascina Nuova 2019 is initially somewhat reductive, but then opens up and reveals the freshness of lemon leaves, redcurrants and pomegranate as well as the aromatic depth of lemon thyme. The attack is very elegant, almost silky at first, then a little dusty on the finish with a light extraction. Possibly not too concentrated, but impressively good and graceful." Decanter
"This aromatic Barolo opens with wild red berries, fresh herbs and dried roses to create an aromatic lift that will captivate you. On the palate, it delights with light-footed, macerated raspberries dusted with spice, leading to a minerality of crushed chalk and fine tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Attractive primary flavours of crushed strawberries and stones follow through to a full body with fine and polished tannins and a lovely, fresh finish. Vibrant is a good word to describe this wine overall. Best after 2026." James Suckling
"The Elvio Cogno 2019 Barolo Cascina Nuova is the most accessible of the many excellent Barolos produced by this leading winery in the municipality of Novello. The fundamental value this wine offers is even more irresistible in a classic vintage like 2019. The wine opens beautifully in the glass and unfolds its aromas of redcurrants and wild berries. This is accompanied by varietal notes of liquorice, cola and camphor ash in a firm, medium-weight texture." Wine Advocate
"Brilliant garnet red with a ruby red shimmer. Rich raspberries and ripe plums on the nose, with a slightly smoky aftertaste and forest floor flavour. Fresh and juicy on the palate, with fine-grained tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"A Barolo of great freshness, with the proverbial cleanliness of Elvio Cogno, coming from the younger vineyards. Raspberry on the nose, with notes of peony and clementine peel, closed by hints of mint Valdostana. The mouthfeel shows iodized tannins, supported by citrus-floral return." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Tenuta Nuova” DOCG 2018
If there is one thing that Giacomo Neri has mastered 100%, it is harvesting at the optimal time of ripeness. He knows his property and his vines better than most and it shows.
The fruit of the 2018 vintage is deep and dark, with high levels of extract, intensity and flavour. It goes far beyond the standard cherry and blackberry to include plum cake, spice bread and bacon-wrapped plum. Nothing about this wine is obvious or monochromatic, everything is nuanced and ethereal. Tenuta Nuova also regularly features the mineral-salty notes that are characteristic of this single vineyard. Very supple tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"From the Cetine vineyard, located southeast of Sant'Angelo in Colle, comes this bottling of Tenuta Nuova with Mediterranean flair and sensual appeal. The relatively early harvest16 September has preserved the freshness of the grapes. Under a woody top note, lavender and balsamic herbs emerge. The ripe red cherries, infused with cinnamon and wrapped in supple tannins, show a high concentration. A juicy, tangy acidity supports the whole. The supple and refined wood should digest with another year in bottle." Decanter
"Bright and concentrated, with aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries, rose hips, mushrooms, iron and tobacco. Pure and expressive, with fine harmony, an elegant frame and a long-lasting aftertaste. Supported by a firm structure." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is spicy and intense, exuding a wild blend of sweet herbs, cloves, dried citrus peel and crushed red plums. It is dark, elegant and refined, with polished red and black fruits highlighted by hints of lavender and mint; yet underneath, a web of fine tannins slowly saturates the palate. Hints of cranberry and tangerine mingle with lavender on the long and textured final, and the 2018 ends wonderfully balanced and classic. With more maturity, it could earn an even higher score." Vinous
"Powerful, sparkling ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Opens on the nose with notes of wild raspberry and black cherry, along with fine spicy components, violets in the background. Substantial and dense in attack and course, shows very great, compact tannin in many layers, full bite in the final, ends on notes of cloves." Falstaff
"Here is a treat from Casanova di Neri. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is full-bodied and rich with beautiful layers of dark fruits, dried blackberries, spices and smoked tobacco. The sour cherry of this vintage transitions into crushed flowers, balsamic herbs, liquorice and crushed stone. The bouquet is classic, but the magic of Casanova di Neri emerges thanks to the wine's balance and beautiful intensity." Wine Advocate
"Elegant and perfumed nose of dried roses, violets, lemon peel, slate, cherries, anise and truffle. Very fine, tight and precise tannins. Medium to full body. I like the floral and saline undertones. So precise and fresh with a dense finish. Crushed stones on the finish. Try the 2025, but it is already attractive to taste and drink." James Suckling
"Southeastern area of Montalcino. From an innovative wine project, a refined and taut Brunello, one of the symbols of this typology now. Vertical on the nose, with notes of redcurrant, wild mint and chinotto, with hints of peony and blood orange. Crisp-tight drinkability, with saline tannins. Finishes fruity and citrusy again." “The Wine Collection” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019 · 0,75l in gift box
The St. Michael-Eppan winery began crowning selected varietal wines for the first time with the 2015 vintage. Only just over 3,000 bottles of these top selections are sold worldwide each year. In 2019, the choice again fell on a single-varietal Sauvignon Bianco from the best grapes from selected micro-locations. Gentle pressing with 3 days of skin contact, followed by 12 months of fermentation in tonneau and a further 15 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks give it a unique depth and finesse. After a further 9 months in the bottle, it is released for sale.
Brilliant straw yellow colour. Lots of substance on the nose, dark, cool, caramel, toffee, also mint. Very precise and taut on the palate, lots of extract, dense, with perfect, straightforward acidity underneath. And a finish that lingers for minutes. This Sauvignon can compete with the best in the world every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with a fine lustre. Opens on the nose with notes of elderflower and ripe redcurrants. Full-bodied and with good weight on the palate, lots of juicy fruit and savoury components, lingers for a long time, interwoven." Falstaff
"The 2019 Sauvignon The Wine Collection is dusty and floral. A hint of candy spice gives way to dried flowers and ginger-laced green apples. It's very structured and expertly balanced, with a pretty inner sweetness contrasted by salty minerals and bright acidity as tart fruit cascades. It finishes with tension and remarkable length, ending on a pleasantly bitter note. Simply stunning." Vinous
"Intense and creamy nose with golden berries, quince, smoke, sweet spices and sour cream. Full-bodied and very flavourful on the palate with integrated oak spices and a savoury, long finish." James Suckling
"Opening to a lemony-yellow color, the 2019 Sauvignon The Wine Collection has a developed nose with apricot, candied tangerine or orange sherbet. It leans closer to stone fruit aromas, but there are tropical hints buried in there as well with ripe mango and pineapple. The wine closes with a waxy, medium-plus texture. A note of spicy vanilla develops nicely with time in the glass." Wine Advocate
"One of the top expressions of a label line that has made history. Multi-faceted olfactory profile, bergamot, cedar wood, nectarine and pink grapefruit. The palate is savoury-salty, with a citrusy and crisp finish, deep and with great freshness." Luca Gardini

“Castello di Brolio” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
Ricasoli's classic is now made from 100% Sangiovese. The grapes come from a south-facing plot at an ideal altitude of 250 to 450 metres above sea level. Castello di Brolio Gran Selezione is a wonderful wine with great richness and depth. It has an intense bouquet of small red berries, violets and spices. The flavour reveals precision, structure and freshness. The tannin and acidity are well-balanced and promise a long life and an interesting ageing period. SUPERIORE.DE
"A great Castello di Brolio. Red and blue berries, forest air, pine needles and brook mint, complex. Floats on the tongue with silky, polished tannins, again cherries and blackberries, finely structured and highly elegant, animating freshness and juicy length." Weinwisser
"Bright, medium ruby red with garnet-red reflections. Intense aroma of juicy cherries, orange peel, tobacco leaves and light spices of cinnamon and vanilla. Very elegant on the palate, with beautiful fruit flavours and well-integrated tannins as well as an exciting and persistent final." Falstaff
"Deep carmine red colour. Quite a complex nose. Racy with flavours of tea leaves and good freshness. Good bite. A real, refined Chianti Classico." Jancis Robinson
"This lively red wine shows telltale Sangiovese notes of iron, red chalk and tobacco that fade into a core of cherry and raspberry. It becomes smoother and more focused on the finish, where the fruit, minerals and savoury elements come together." Wine Spectator
"Autumnal aromas of baking spices and the taste of a freshly brewed cup of coffee are balanced by a sweet cherry vanilla biscuit and a peppery note. The cherry brightens the palate, with spice sustained by herbal and stony undertones. Bright acidity plays around firm tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio is one of the winery's most important and successful bottles. It is full-bodied and rich with warm, vintage flavours of blackberries, juicy cherries, spices and soft earth. It is aged for 22 months in tonneaux, of which only 30% is new oak, but this is more than enough to give this full-bodied Sangiovese spicy tones, soft tannins and a rich structure." Wine Advocate
"Complex bouquet of forest fruits, black pepper and tobacco; has flesh, fullness, skilfully balanced tannins and acidity, long finish. Convinces with its charismatic style." Vinum
"Castello di Brolio is the flagship of the winery and combines Sangiovese from higher-lying vineyards near the castle, planted on the three main soil types found here: Macigno (sandstone), Galestro and Alberese. This 2020 has a balsamic bouquet that is accompanied in the mouth by a rich concentration of flavoursome, tangy red and black fruits and wonderfully silky tannins. Structured enough to age well, but soft and approachable enough to enjoy immediately, it's a great all-rounder." Decanter
"Bright and floral on the nose, with orange blossom and vibrant sliced cherry character. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins that are supple and gentle. Beautiful aftertaste of cooked peach pie and cherry. Delicious now, but even better in 2028." James Suckling
"Pure Sangiovese from three vineyards around the castle, an expression of three different soils. Black cherry on the nose, with notes of eucalyptus and cinnamon. Spicy tannins on the palate, dense, persistent with a balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Cascina Nuova” DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
Bright ruby-garnet colour. Smooth and expressive on the palate, with sweet red cherries, blood orange, mint, wild flowers, cedar wood, sweet tobacco and aniseed. Very fine tannins on the palate, spicy, delicate and at the same time very rich and clear, with a long, balsamic final. Every year, Cascina Nuova is a prime example of how excellent Barolos can be produced at moderate prices. SUPERIORE.DE
"Inviting bouquet of forest fruits and flowers, fine spice; compact in the mouth and yet powerful, the tannins and acidity in balance, dark berry-spicy finish. Excellent food companion." Vinum
"Bright garnet with ruby red reflections. Opens slowly, but then smoky on wild berries, black plum, a hint of undergrowth. Great tension on the palate, with precise fruit, invigorating acidity, tightly woven tannins, elegant, very long finish." Falstaff
"Shiny and just medium ruby red in colour. Dusty, mineral and slowly opening up to subtle cherry. With plenty of air, vigour and vitality. Long, elegant cherry flavours, which are surrounded by supple acidity and long tannins that cling to the palate. Characteristic elegance. A high-flyer." Jancis Robinson
"The Elvio Cogno 2020 Barolo Cascina Nuova has a hint of smoke and barrel with lots of red fruits, redcurrants and cherries. There's an earthy element that combines well with the oak, and there's a tart or crisp side to the fruit that finishes with grippy tannins." Wine Advocate
"This wine is supple and complex, offering aromas and flavours of cherries, strawberries, summer meadows, earth, leather and iron. It is firmly structured and picks up hints of liquorice on the lingering finish, with the tannins solid but civilised. Shows good potential." Wine Spectator
"Extremely perfumed with strawberries and forest floor with some sandalwood, roses and candied watermelon. It is medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are powerful and solid. Very persistent finish. Powerful on the finish. Classic Barolo character." James Suckling
"Freshness and juiciness for a wine of great drinkability. Red mulberry on the nose, with hints of geranium and blood orange, rounded off with a hint of eucalyptus. Spicy on the palate, with citrus and balsamic nuances. It ends with floral memories." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Ornato” DOCG 2018
Barolo Ornato is a great wine every year. It captures the true character of Serralunga with its wild herbs, minerals and ferruginous notes. Its bouquet shows small berry fruits and cassis, framed by gravel, forest floor, blue flowers and candied orange peel. The wine also has a dusty, mineral note and is intense on both the nose and palate. Ornato sets in with finely integrated tannins and an acidity that sustains all these fruit flavours. A wine that is consistently vertical, straightforward and frontal. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully fragrant, subtle bouquet with notes of freshly pressed pomegranate, redcurrant and heart cherries, again some blood orange. More elegant, clearly more compact and multi-layered palate than the two predecessors, simply has more density and power, but remains elegant and enormously juicy, immensely polished tannin, absolutely coherent, shows ripe fruit, fine melting." Weinwisser
"Medium ruby red with orange reflections. Beautiful, open and ripe cherry aroma with minerals and a hint of liquorice and lots of depth. Generous, supple fruit with gripping tannins that form a real unit. Great length with lots of powdery tannins, juice and grip. Simply irresistible, but might be too austere for most palates at the moment." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Barolo Ornato reveals some very distant hot season aromas, vaguely reminiscent of dried raspberries or stewed plums. The Nebbiolo is very sensitive to the warmer temperatures and even a hint of extra ripeness is easy to detect. However, the wine is fluid and constantly evolving. The fruit-driven aromas soon turn into a brooding complexity with smoke, tar and liquorice. The Ornato paints a broad picture of the intensity typical of Serralunga d'Alba." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barolo Ornato is sombre, brooding and quite self-contained. There is a lot of aromatic and flavour complexity, but the fruit is very much in the background. It will be interesting to see if the 2018 emerges or if it remains rather compact as it is today. There is a good amount of density and power behind all the tannin. Hints of blood orange, crushed raspberry, rose petal and cinnamon linger on the super classy finish." Vinous
"Spicy, with notes of white pepper, cumin, fennel seed and minerals framing a core of preserved plums and cherries. Dense, viscous and lively, balanced and expressive. It finishes with excellent length and power." Wine Spectator
"Pio Cesare owns most of Ornato, which lies between Briccolina and Falletto. The Serralunga character is particularly typical here, with fruits of wild strawberries and cherries combined with rhubarb and minerality. The attack is silky, with great concentration and savouriness, woven acidity and refined tannins through to the lingering finish." Decanter
"Complex on the nose, with a mix of ripe red berries, nutty minerals, orange peel and spices. Also some spicy, almost meaty notes. Full, compact and intense, but very graceful on the palate thanks to the fine tannins. Very polished and promising. Stylish. Still needs some time. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"From Cascina Ornato, Pio Cesare's first cru, first produced in 1985, a Barolo of power and structure. On the nose blackcurrant, notes of liquorice and peony. The mouthfeel has spicy, salty tannins and a finish with notes of liquorice and small black fruits. Long lasting." Luca Gardini

Barbaresco “Vigneto Starderi” DOCG 2019
Barbaresco Starderi from the municipality of Neive is almost austere with its aroma of pink pepper and cocoa, which combined with the subtle woody notes gives a delicious overall aroma; powerful and rich taste with the still superficial but very noble tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The La Spinetta 2019 Barbaresco Starderi Vürsù is perfumed and bright with dark rose and wild plum. The wine is solid and dense, with a pretty presentation of fruit that feels healthy and crunchy at the same time. The tannins are well integrated into this structured, full-bodied Barbaresco. The Starderi has shown a very consistent performance over the years." Wine Advocate
"A powerful red, yet well-defined too, with strawberry, cherry, floral, mineral and tobacco aromas and flavors aligned to a muscular structure. Feels balanced overall, yet will take a few years to fully integrate." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi is terrific. Vertical and focused, the Starderi impresses with its energy, cut and drive. There's perhaps a bit less heft than in most years, but that is not a bad thing. Dark red cherry, raspberry, lavender and sage lend quite a bit of complexity to this substantial Barbaresco from La Spinetta. It will be interesting to see if the 2019 fleshes out with bottle age." Vinous
"From Starderi vineyard, located in Neive municipality, a vigorous Barbaresco, characterised by a great gustatory and olfactory balance. Nose of wild plum, then leech peel and closure of geranium. Mouthfeel with salty-sapid tannins, fruity-citrus finish." Luca Gardini
"Beautiful aromas of plums and violets with some flint. Full-bodied. Layered and softly chewy. Meat, berry and hints of cedar and nutmeg. Flavorful finish. Solid and very together with a softness at the back of the palate. Drink in 2026 and beyond." James Suckling

Barbaresco “Vigneto Gallina” DOCG 2019
A great Barbaresco, destined for long ageing: Garnet red, concentrated and powerful the scent of red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint and tobacco. The taste is also bursting with power and fullness, but still holds a captivating purity, immediacy and elegance, the framework of which is formed by the beautifully integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegance flashes on the nose, along with the herbal and woody notes typical of and accompanying this vineyard, always remains pithy and vital, salty and showing sweet fruit, the great class of the site flashes through at every stage and is marked by wood tannin on the finish." Weinwisser
"Aromatic, this red features raspberry, cherry, floral, iron, tar and tobacco aromas and flavors. A dense matrix of tannins lends support and this cruises to a lingering aftertaste. Shows fine harmony and potential." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina is an elegant, nuanced wine. Crushed flowers, mint, sweet red cherry, kirsch, sweet French oak and incense all grace this silky, understated Barbaresco. Gallina is often quite forthcoming, but the 2019 is more classically austere in bearing. I suspect it will age well, but there is less immediate charm than in most years." Vinous
"The 2019 Barbaresco Gallina Vürsù is a beautiful wine with delicate aromas of forest fruit, cassis, spice, earthy truffle and grilled herb. This tight, lean-bodied wine has firm tannins and a very long, elegant finish." Wine Advocate
"A tight and structured young Barbaresco with red fruits, crushed stone, ash and slate in the nose and palate. Medium-to full-bodied. Polished and chewy with a solid finish at the end. Needs three or four years to soften but very well done." James Suckling
"From one of the historic crus of the municipality of Neive, a Barbaresco of structure and finesse. Blueberries on the nose, with balsamic touches of eucalyptus and licorice. Savory-salty tannins on the palate, nice persistence with balsamic return." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Ornato” DOCG 2019
Barolo Ornato is a great wine every year. With its wild herbs, minerals and ferrous notes, it captures the true character of Serralunga. Its bouquet shows small berry fruits and cassis, framed by gravel, forest floor, blue flowers and candied orange peel. The wine also has a dusty, mineral note and is very intense both on the nose and on the palate. Ornato starts with finely integrated tannins and an acidity that sustains all these fruit flavours. A wine that is consistently vertical, straightforward and frontal. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, shiny ruby-garnet colour. Nose of toast, mint, then fine raspberries and rosehips, fine earthy tones, cardamom. Great entry on the palate, deep and multi-layered, savoury, comes in several waves, lingers remarkably long and juicy." Falstaff
"An inviting red that offers ripe plums, cherries, earth, eucalyptus, iron and tobacco flavours. It becomes denser and slightly viscous on the finish, with earthy and herbal elements echoing. All components are present, so be patient." Wine Spectator
"The Barolo Ornato 2019 is a big, tightly wound Serralunga Barolo that needs time to unfold. Iron, white pepper, mint, dried herbs and orange peel open up, but with great restraint. Today, the Ornato is impenetrable. We'll see what happens over time." Vinous
"The Pio Cesare 2019 Barolo Ornato comes from one of the most famous MGA vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba. The character of this wine is always characterised by structure and power, and these qualities are particularly evident in a vintage like 2019, which offers more concentrated fruit at the start. The Ornato is imbued with dark berry flavours that contrast with spicy tones, tar and smoke. It finishes with finely structured tannins." Wine Advocate
"The Ornato 2019 emphasises the special nature of this vineyard with its grace and structure, which combine to create pure class. Dark cherry flavours are nestled among wild herbs, flowers and savoury spices that grab and draw your attention with every sip. This robust and well-structured wine is built for the future, when all the parts relax into each other and show just how great this wine is." Wine Enthusiast
"This wine is beautiful with ultra-fine tannins, cherries, berries and flowers. Medium to full body. Wonderful length. Very classic in structure. Straightforward and racy. Taut on the finish. Give it four to six years in the bottle." James Suckling
"From Cascina Ornato, the first cru in the history of the estate, a sculptural Barolo with power and structure. Blackcurrant on the nose, notes of liquorice and peony. Salty on the palate, with liquorice notes on the finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna Loreto” DOCG 2018
The 1.6-hectare Loreto vineyard is located on a slope right next to the winery and has an ideal south-east exposure. Vigna Loreto is only vinified in the best vintages and is an even more intense interpretation of the Sangiovese grape. On the palate, the texture is both creamy and robust, with a depth and fullness that make it very rich and exceptional. With further aeration, beautiful notes of black fruits, tobacco and spices. Aristocratic, powerful and very long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Quite a deep, somewhat tarry aroma of ripe black and red berries with a hint of mushrooms, iron, tobacco, pepper and a little dried herbs. Ripe, firm, rather dark fruit, coffee-spicy wood flavours, some bitter chocolate and smoke, present, ripe, still a hint of drying tannin, clearly salty in the background, a hint of dried herbs and tobacco, a hint of bread crust, deep and quite concentrated, gains expression and harmony with air, long, firm, tart finish with noble juice and cigar box. Gains weight over days and should definitely be left to mature." Wein-Plus
"Bright garnet red colour with a light rim. Opens on the nose with notes of preserved cherries and plums, followed by spicy juniper berries and cigar box. Blossoms beautifully on the palate, lots of sweet melting, embedded fine-meshed tannins, ripe fruit, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Spicy and fragrant notes of sour cherries, redcurrants, bay leaves, charred bark, tobacco, rosemary stems and toasted wood. It is full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Deep and sensual dark fruit and roasted flavours. Try it in the year 2024." James Suckling
"Pebble and tufa soils for this successful Brunello vintage. Raspberry jam on the nose, with notes of marjoram and lemon thyme, then nuances of iris. Iodised tannins on the palate, again with floral notes." Luca Gardini
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto rises from the glass with a beguiling mix of crushed ash stones that fade into dried cherries and cloves. The palate is seductively soft and supple, with polished red fruits and a pleasant inner sweetness accompanied by an evolving minerality and a hint of sour citrus. The finish is of outstanding length, balancing fine tannins with a saturation of tart wild berries that lingers. This is one of the finest interpretations of Vigna Loreto I have ever tasted. Masterfully made." Vinous
"An elegant red with an attractive blend of cherry, raspberry, red flower, mineral and rosemary flavours. Juicy and lively, with refined, resonant tannins that support the long finish. Very balanced and expressive." Wine Spectator
"The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto 2018 has a restrained, dry and elegant personality with a long, silky texture that gently caresses the palate. The essence of Sangiovese with its wild side, dried raspberries, blue flowers and crushed stones, comes through with precise precision. This wine is a bull's eye in a vintage that was not always easy to handle." Wine Advocate
"An indulgent nose of chocolate, coffee, earth and dried figs leads into an equally decadent palate that hits all those notes again, but in the best way, like your favorite song on repeat. The balance between sweet and savory concludes with a bitter, biting finish that's elevated by a warming current of acid." Wine Enthusiast
"This wine is relatively dark, though translucent now, and the scents are sweet, warm, open and inviting, built around a core of ripe plum. The palate is deep and secondary, implying that the plum is beginning to give way to the softer but less precise fruit of ripeness; there are also prominent but well-rounded tannins, while the acidity is more vibrant and vital than one might expect from the flavours. An excellent Brunello for the middle ripening period." Decanter

“Paleo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
Paleo - unmistakable Cabernet Franc and one of Bolgheri's most important wines, full of elegance and class. The name goes back quite unspectacularly to a weed that has long since been removed from the vineyards of Le Macchiole. Rich ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, mint, white pepper, blackberry fruit and some pomegranate. Fine melting on the palate with hints of tobacco and poppy. Wonderfully structured and with a long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Cabernet Franc in purezza, a grape variety that is perfectly suited to some sites near Bolgheri: Needs some aeration, then multi-layered aromas of cassis, undergrowth, maquis and spices; superb construction with powerful complexity, the tannin precise, finishes long and seductive. Great wine." Vinum
"Sparkling ruby-violet with a slightly lightening rim. Opens on the nose with emphatically spicy notes of white pepper, oregano and thyme, then raspberry and cassis. On the palate, lots of sweet, dark berry fruit, shows gripping, firm tannin, plus fine sweet melting, firm pressure in the final and a long finish." Falstaff
"A beam of blackcurrants paired with aromas and flavours of black olives, peppers, wild rosemary, tar and vanilla. A crisp and concentrated red wine with light tannins on the lively finish." Wine Spectator
"A full-bodied, powerful and polished red wine with aromas of dark plums, dark cherries, tobacco, bay leaves, dark chocolate, mocha and cedar. Firm, ripe tannins. Compact and muscular. Yet it remains fresh. Will soften even more. Taste after 2025." James Suckling
"In 2019, Paleo recovers its precise and stylish character and amazing concentration. This Cabernet Franc was fermented and macerated in concrete and then aged for 18 months in new French oak. Its dark purple colour shows subtle cassis wrapped in spice and milk chocolate, with assertive eucalyptus and delicious parma violet. The palate is juicy and almost savoury, velvety and with tannins infused with violets and cassis. Remarkable length with integrated toasty flavours." Decanter
"Cedar chips, wild herbs, black pepper, bergamot and undergrowth on the nose, sour cherry, mixed berries, soy sauce and liquorice sweets on the palate. Tannins that feel like a firm hand and an acidic heat bubbling underneath combine to create a showstopper." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Paleo is an absolute stunner. Deep, plush and explosive, the 2019 has fabulous density and yet is not heavy at all. All the elements are so well balanced. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, mocha, espresso and grilled herbs meld together in the glass. The purity and persistence of the flavours is absolutely compelling. The 2019 is really impressive. I loved it." Vinous
"Originated as a blend with Sangiovese, now proudly Cabernet Franc in purity, unique in the area, the result of very careful varietal work, nose with notes of blackcurrant, undergrowth and eucalyptus, then notes of black peppercorns. Fruity and spicy finish." Luca Gardini
"The Le Macchiole 2019 Paleo shows an extremely precise and distinct personality, perfectly suited to this classic vintage. If you love Cabernet Franc, this is your wine. The bouquet is linear and dense with wet gravel, pencil and graphite forming an elegant frame around blackberries and black plums. You can taste every little detail in this complex and powerful wine. The fruit comes from a 5.5 hectare plot that rises from 37 to 70 metres above sea level. The soils are a mixture of clay, sand, silt, stone and limestone, characteristic of this stretch of Tuscan coastline. On the second nose, the Paleo offers cardamom pods, exotic spices and fragrant rose water." Wine Advocate
