Barolo La Serra DOCG 2015
La Serra 2015 comes from a fairly warm year and here the advantage of the slightly higher and cooler location is clearly evident. As always, the flavours are bright and floral, with a good underpinning of chalky, mineral tones, with remarkable polish and class. Dark red stone fruits, flowers, spices and leather are supported by the characteristic firm tannins, lovely depth in the mid palate and overall a great volume that makes it seem complete and perfect. A great wine and one of the best Barolo of the 2015 vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is an exotic and opulent La Serra with ripe-fruit, orange-peel and terracotta aromas, as well as dust. Full body, polished yet chewy tannins and an extremely rich and long finish. Astonishing power and richness. Austerity with class. Reminds me of the perfect 1997." James Suckling

Decanted, tested and re-corked at the winery | Ruby red colour with violet reflections and a black core. Dark forest berries such as blackberries and mulberries on the nose, underpinned by warm undergrowth notes. Then ripe blood oranges and subtle cedar notes. On the palate, it is defined by flavours of liquorice, the tannins are close-knit and low-pore, reminiscent of the finest dark chocolate and control the generously juicy fruit with their delicate play. Armed for many years of bottle ageing, we recommend reaching for a carafe in its youthful stage. Then it reveals itself with stimulatingly tart flavours of dark tobacco and enormous pressure, dark, dense and rich with an orchestral finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The ageing of wines has always played a decisive role in the philosophy of our company. This is the reason why today we are proud to be able to offer many of the oldest vintages directly from our cellar. We differentiate as follows: We make two bottlings each year. Younger vintages, which we bring to the Italian market, come from younger vineyards and the wines from the old vines are left to mature in our cellar for at least 5 years before being gradually released onto the global market. The latter wines are labelled 'Selezione Vecchie Vigne' to make it easier to distinguish them. Another important aspect is that all bottles that are over 10 years old are decanted and individually checked before they are re-corked and sent on their journey to our customers." Emidio pepe
"Brilliant medium ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Cool, red-fruity bouquet with spices, hints of iron and tobacco leaves. Cool and lean on the palate with plenty of acidity, grainy tannins and slender red fruits. Hints of tobacco and rusty nails on the finish. Very elegant and supple." Jancis Robinson
"The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne 2002 tantalises the senses with a cool blend of dried strawberries, cinnamon and dusty rose. It washes over the palate with lightness, serene and pure in flavour, with pretty red berries and a subtle hint of flinty minerality. The fruit concentration lingers, along with gentle tannins and a pleasant burst of inner sweetness as the 2002 finishes with a tension in the cheeks. A lightness of being." Vinous

"Roasted meat, dried fruit and leathery complexity on the nose and palate, a kind of Burgundy-Bordeaux blend that is nevertheless uniquely Italian. Deep and lingering, with absolute balance." Jancis Robinson
"The very classic 2000 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne exudes an earthy blend of undergrowth, savoury herbs and animal musk notes before releasing its notes of red-hot cherries and crushed plums. On the palate, it presents a silky texture that conveys pure elegance and balance. Ripe red fruits saturate and leave a mineral colour under a hint of tobacco. A core of lively acidity ensures perfect balance. The 2000 finishes lightly structured, long and with plenty of energy. This textbook vintage from Emidio pepis a pure pleasure to taste and harbours many years of steady, positive development. Nevertheless, the wine should be given time to open up in the bottle so that its flavours can fully develop. What a treasure." Vinous

"Concentrated, medium ruby red with a narrow orange rim. This wine shows kinship with the 2005 in terms of perfect concentration and incredible depth, but this one is even more focused and layered and still youthful. Dark and red fruits with a hint of smoke that turns to spice the longer the wine sits in the glass. A lifted acidity that blends with the fruit. Juicy, fresh cherry and plenty of enveloping tannins that never gain the upper hand. Long, cool and elegant." Jancis Robinson
"The 2001 is a sultry and flirtatious vintage of pep's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne. Initially dark and a little cloudy, it takes almost an hour to give off a musky, almost woolly, mineral and animal note; but underneath it all are flavours of tobacco, cherry sauce, scorched earth and a mentholated, herbal freshness that gives it a wonderful lift. This soft, almost fleshy wine finds a beautiful harmony through a blend of nervous acidity and citrusy red fruits that give it a very energetic and almost juicy flavour. Nuances of blood orange and a hint of inner sweetness mingle with an inner sensation of wet autumn leaves, while the 2001 finishes completely resolved, long and with a hint of balsamic spice that still lingers. It takes a little work to unlock the 2001's charms, but you should be lucky if you don't gulp down the whole bottle as soon as it's opened." Vinous

Limitation of 1 articles per customer“Lodovico” Toscana IGT 2013
After many years of identifying the best Merlot, Cabernet and Petit Verdot parcels within the boundaries of their Bolgheri estate with the support of the famous OenologistMichel Rolland, the Antinori family discovered in the early 2000s that in the midst of this microclimate and terroir there was an even more special small vineyard whose results once again surpassed those of the larger area. It was immediately clear to all involved that this unique character had to be vinified and highlighted separately - this was the birth of today's cult wine Lodovico.
Ripe, dark fruits on the nose. Highly complex on the palate, with a depth and tannin structure that impressively reflect the age of the vines, plus a freshness and acidity framework that flanks the berry potpourri in a balanced way and, together with the ultra-fine tannin, leads into a long, firm finish. A multi-layered red with a strong character and the necessary storm and stress for the winner's podium. SUPERIORE.DE
"This vintage offers a distinctive note of crushed granite and pencil shavings not found in the others. Compared to those, this vintage is almost salty in taste. All in all, I think the 2013 vintage is going through a slower evolution and we just have to give it time. The tannins are dry, but they serve as sufficient glue to bind the many moving parts of the wine together. It needs time to settle down and develop." Wine Advocate
"The 2013 Lodovico seems to point to a different style from the one first favoured by Lodovico Antinori at Tenuta di Biserno. The wine's translucent colour, distinct aromatics and medium-weight structure are a clear departure from the past. The 2013 is wonderfully airy, fragrant and expressive and has so much to offer. Blood orange, mint, sweet spices and raspberry jam lead into the silky, medium weight finish of this extremely elegant wine." Vinous
"This rich and fruity red wine has a beautiful character of currants, berries and chocolate. Full and velvety." James Suckling
"Overripe, lush and complex, this wine focuses on aromas and flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, Tuscan scrub, iron, tobacco and spice. The tannins are muscular but not overbearing, and the lively acidity provides energy and concentration. Excellent length." Wine Spectator

Brunello di Montalcino “Bassolino di Sopra” DOCG 2012 · MAGNUM in OWC
With the Brunello Bassolino di Sopra, Pian Dell'Orino has undoubtedly succeeded in creating one of the most exciting Brunellos of the 2012 vintage. Warm, very seductive aromas of black cherries, flowers, tobacco, minerals and undergrowth emerge from the bright ruby red. The interplay between the rich fruit and the classic structure is ingenious. The taste captivates with its intensity, luxurious and mysterious. SUPERIORE.DE
"A translucent ruby with purple hues in the glass, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Bassolino di Sopra wafts up with an incredibly pretty mix of dusty dried roses, cedar spice box, wild strawberries and incense. This is elegance personified, yet also delicate in character, with a silken wave of ripe red fruits laced with sweet herbs tones, as mildly grippy tannins slowly saturate toward the close. The 2012 Bassolino di Sopra is still structured through the finale, leaving a primary concentration that creates youthful poise, as wild berry nuances slowly fade. It’s amazing, but this still needs time and has the balance to last." Vinous
"This wine immediately grabs your attention and focus thanks to the incredible purity and intensity that lifts so gracefully from the glass. The bouquet presents aromas of dried cherry, cassis, freshly tilled soil and wild rose. The wine carries itself with majesty, floating or gliding over the palate with silky smoothness. The longer you contemplate the bouquet, the more aware you become of its complexity and depth. It closes with dark and almost spicy fruit intensity." Wine Advocate

2 bottles of 0.75l | "San Marcellino" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 (BIO)
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino 2016 is a dense, full-bodied wine. harvestwill have to be patient, as the 2016 is a toddler. Overripe blue and violet fruits, spices, leather, tobacco and menthol unfold in the glass. The 2016 is dense and lush, yet the acids pulse with energy and lend a sense of transparency that is particularly evident on the finish. This combination makes for a compelling Gran Selezione that should age well for 15-20 years or more." Vinous
"This red wine is fleshy and muscular and shows aromas and flavours of black cherries, blackberries, tar, leather and iron. It has plenty of fruit and a tight, lively structure. The length is also good." Wine Spectator
"The Vigna San Marcellino is both youthfully fresh and ripe and complex. It contains a healthy dose of the deeply coloured Pugnitello grape, and both this and the Sangiovese were macerated for a long time after fermentation in 2016, for over 30 days. Liquorice, tarragon and broom mingle with luscious plum and subtle roasted flavours that are seductive. The palate is loaded with black cherry and rich, velvety tannins and has a creamy texture, while underlying chalk and salty minerality add energy and lead to a juicy, refreshing finish." Decanter

"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino 2017 is powerful, but also shockingly closed for this dry, warm year. harvestwill have to be patient with the 2017, as it still needs a little time to show its best side. Juicy dark cherry, plum, mocha, cloves and liquorice - all leading to a powerful, explosive finish. It has enormous substance, not to mention its sheer character." Vinous

Dark fruit, coffee, lavender, liquorice, dried herbs and a hint of new oak adorn this exquisite, wonderfully nuanced Gran Selezione. The San Marcellino 2018 is a wine of restraint and understatement." Vinous

“Siopè" Aglianico Cilento DOC 2016 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
What begins with a seductive bouquet of delicate plums and a hint of mint gains volume and depth as grilled sage and rum-soaked blackcurrants mingle with sweet tobacco and allspice. Its texture is silky and fleshy, accompanied by a nervous acidity, while ripe black cherries and a hint of cranberry sauce create a sweet and sour tension on the palate. The concentration is astonishing, yet the energy remains incredibly high, even if the grippy tannins increase towards the end. Notes of sour citrus fruits, savoury herbs and tart wild berries linger incredibly long in the structured yet remarkably fresh final. Only around 3,000 bottles of this cru are produced and it is a real must-have for all Aglianico lovers! SUPERIORE.DE
"Very dark carmine red colour. The first impression is oak spice, but no sweetness. Spicy black fruits with a hint of smoke. Powerful yet very elegant, fine tannin structure, with the tannins increasing on the finish. Refined and long and yet so youthful." Jancis Robinson

To be honest, you could get lost in this bouquet. Its texture is silky and fleshy, accompanied by a nervous acidity, while ripe black cherries and a hint of cranberry sauce create a sweet and sour tug-of-war on the palate. The concentration is amazing, yet the energy remains incredibly high, even as the grippy tannins pick up towards the finish. Powerful, very attractive wine. Smells of strawberry and cherry, spices and a hint of leather. Tastes juicy, very special and impresses with firm tannin and persistent length. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is opulent and fresh with cedar, berry, tobacco and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Medium body, firm tannins and a flavorful finish. Precise and powerful center palate. Fabulous length." James Suckling
"With fruit from 60-year-old vines, the 2011 Colore is a precious blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino in equal parts. This is a highly singular wine made in very reduced quantities (only 2,000 bottles were produced). This mid weight expression shows a dark garnet color and moderate luminosity. That muted color is recognized across the very artisanal wines made by Bibi Graetz. The quality of fruit is bitter and raw and there is some sourness on the close. Having said that, enthusiasts will appreciate these one-off wines, especially with regards to how they relate to the strong personalities that create them. Lingering ash, smoke and dark licorice add subtle elegance on the finish." Wine Advocate

“Roccolo” Ludwig Barth von Barthenau Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
At the end of the 19th century Ludwig Barth, university professor with a love of wine, had built the estate of the same name in Mazon and planted the Pinot Noir vine there for the first time, with success, as it turned out. The year 2012 was very good for the Pinot Noir and the Roccolo vineyard at the Barthenau estate on the Mazon plateau. The grapes from vines over 70 years old, which are particularly rich in content and which are planted on the traditional pergola, should be reserved for a new top-quality wine. They were harvested separately, pressed separately and matured in small oak barrels and are only processed in the best vintages to the single vineyard wine "Roccolo".
It convinces with its supple, filigree acid structure, the backbone of every Burgundian. Martin Foradori's "Burgundy instinct" had shown him the right way, working until the late evening hours had been worthwhile. A top-class Pinot Noir now enriches the Pinot Noir range of the estate - from the outstanding location of the Mazon plateau. SUPERIORE.DE

Brunello di Montalcino “Madonna del Piano” Riserva DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
Dark cherry red. Multi-layered nose with aromas of wild berries, fine spice and dried meat, combined with cedar and earthy notes. In the mouth powerful black cherry, blackberry, plum, red rose petals and a delicate toast note. Wonderful on the long finish with hints of pepper and exotic spices. A great Riserva from a great vintage with cult potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, intense ruby-garnet. Attractive, intense nose with notes of blackberry and dark cherry, some liquorice. On the palate nicely worked out, juicy fruit, after cherries and plums, gripping, hearty tannin, firm pressure in the final." Falstaff
"Deep ruby. Slightly reticent nose hints at black cherry, herbs and flint. Then juicy and bright, with deep flavors of minerals, blueberry and red cherry, complicated by peppery herbs. Closes long with repeating mineral nuances. A sleeping giant, the fruit is having a tough time emerging currently but I’d say there’s plenty there, just lying beneath the wine’s noble tannic cloak. Cellar this very refined Brunello for five or six years to see how it develops." Vinous
"Ripe, offering cherry, plum and floral aromas and flavors, matched to a rich texture. Tobacco and iron notes emerge as this builds to a lengthy finish. A touch dry on the finish, but the sweet fruit returns in the end." Wine Spectator
"Earthy aromas of wild berry, new leather, truffle and exotic spice emerge from the glass. The concentrated, vibrant palate delivers dried black cherry, licorice, tobacco and black pepper alongside fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Showing ripe and balanced fruit, the Valdicava 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano offers many very positive attributes. The wine flaunts a slightly contemporary or international side, and it does so with extreme confidence and elegance. Much of that natural balance comes directly from the classic vintage that exhibits both the structure and acidity necessary for prolonged cellar aging. Now, in the wine's youngest phase, it offers lush primary cherry and blackberry flavors followed carefully by measured spice, toast and red rose potpourri." Wine Advocate
"This opens with savory, truffle and meaty aromas with a complex and quite cryptic nose that delivers a wealth of ripe plums and cherries, cedar and fresh, violet-like flowers, as well as some earthy nuances. The palate has a very sturdy, intense and power-charged core of rich plums and dark cherries, framed in quite fierce tannins that are so long. Super Brunello Riserva here with great potential." Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva DOC 2016 dolce · 6 bottles in OWC
Deep, dark yellow colour. Rich, almost opulent impressions of candied apricots, orange zest and traces of fine yellow flowers on the nose. Fabulously viscous texture on the palate, multi-layered, very concentrated flavour of candied fruit with a wonderfully polished sweetness. One of Italy's greatest Vin Santo with a long, persistent finish and made to last. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense aromas and flavors of brown butter, caramel, roasted walnut and dried apricot are the hallmarks of this dessert-style white. A balanced version, with a seamless finish marked by lively acidity, this is elegant overall." Wine Spectator
"The Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva 2016 is an understated beauty that opens slowly. It seduces with a hint of sawdust and toasted almonds that fade into dried apricots, nectarines and finally a hint of cocoa. The Riserva flows more like nectar than wine on the palate, with a mix of sweet autumn spice and peach jam, all perfectly held together by lively acidity. The 2016 is surprisingly long, balanced and complex, leaving behind hints of ground ginger and burnt sugar. After almost a minute, your mouth is watering, and hints of brown butter and sweet cinnamon continue. In short, this is one of the absolute best Vin Santos I've ever had the pleasure of tasting." Vinous
"An exquisite bouquet of dried apricots, dates, figs and creamy nougat that dips into the intensely sweet, indulgent palate and perfectly contrasts the wonderful seam of cleansing acidity that shines through to the warming gingerbread finish." Decanter

“Lodovico” Toscana IGT 2012
After many years of identifying the best Merlot, Cabernet and Petit Verdot parcels within the boundaries of their Bolgheri estate with the support of the famous oenologist Michel Rolland, the Antinori family discovered in the early 2000s that in the midst of this microclimate and terroir there was an even more special small vineyard whose results once again surpassed those of the larger area. It was immediately clear to all involved that this unique character had to be vinified and highlighted separately - this was the birth of today's cult wine Lodovico.
As the vines age, Lodovico comes of age. With the 2012 vintage, it is not better now, but a little more nuanced than its predecessors. Ripe, dark fruits on the nose. Highly complex on the palate, with a depth and tannic structure that impressively reflect the age of the vines, plus a freshness and acidity framework that flanks the berry potpourri in a balanced way and, together with the ultra-fine tannin, leads into a long, firm finish. A multi-layered red with a strong character and the necessary storm and stress for the winner's podium. SUPERIORE.DE
"You'll find aromas of cassis, French oak, cedar and blue flower on this full-bodied red. Made with Cabernet Franc and a tiny amount of Petit Verdot, the polished structured palate delivers black currant, star anise, espresso and aromatic herb set against fine-grained tannins that leave a firm finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The colour is deeper than the 2013, with a rich, smoky nose of brooding blackcurrant notes. It's densely concentrated and very ripe, with fewer green herb notes. There's a sumptuous texture, and a velvety quality to the still-firm tannins. An assertive style with plenty of refinement too." Decanter
"The estate's 2012 Lodovico, mostly Cabernet Franc with a dollop of Petit Verdot, boasts striking nuance for such a big, powerful wine. Here the flavors are intense but also beautifully delineated throughout. Mocha, espresso, blackberry jam and sweet herbs add shades of nuance on the dramatic finish. The interplay of structure and raciness should become even more compelling over the next handful of years." Vinous
"The 2012 Lodovico is a breakout wine that marks the beginning of its own distinct identity. This is a complete, 360-degree expression that is also showing very nicely at this moment in its drinking window. I'd say it is on the cusp of its tasting apex. The vines were planted in 2003 and 2004, so they were still young when this wine was made. Still, the quality of fruit is articulate and intense with blackberry, cinnamon, wet earth and pressed rose petal." Wine Advocate
"So aromatic and enticing with such gorgeous perfumes of flower and berry. Full body, integrated tannins with fantastic fruit and balance. Long and illustrious." James Suckling

“San Floriano” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013 · 6 bottles in OWC
Brigaldara's Amarone Riserva is a wine born from the desire to interpret Valpolicella in its most original form. The strictly selected grapes that form its basis are chosen from the best vineyards in order to maximise the potential of the estate's own vineyards in Valpolicella.
Garnet red in colour, with aromas of preserved fruit, spices, sour cherries and hints of tobacco and cocoa. Brigaldara's Riserva is a large, concentrated "old-school" Amarone with a good dose of residual sugar and volatile acidity, which give the wine its unmistakable style and lend it plenty of complexity. This uncompromising and rich Amarone hits all the right notes: Mocha, old leather, smoke, tobacco and liquorice are just some of the exciting components of its long, personality-rich and distinctive finish. An energetic wine with a balance between fruit and power, which plays with its class and depth and has secured a place in the appellation's list of best wines thanks to its complex and deep tertiary flavours. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, shining, noble ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Elegant wood on the nose, ripe berry fruit, dried tomato, comes in several waves, incense, cherries, raspberries, very complex. Very elegant on the palate, with notes of black tea, tightly woven tannins, lots of juiciness and fruit, extremely elegant Amarone with plenty of verve." Falstaff
"Very dark ruby in colour. Interesting, dense and lifted nose of peppery cherry, damson and plum, with a hint of pine and creaminess from what I suspect is oak. Smooth and well balanced. Almost defies its 16%. On the palate, it doesn't come across as bulky, and it has the right amount of supple tannins. A little warmth on the finish, but without the often distracting sweetness that this type of wine usually has." Jancis Robinson
"This wine gracefully combines taut, sculpted tannins with a tarry minerality and a detailed flavour profile of dried cherries, plum jam, tobacco and cocoa nibs. Medium-bodied and silky on the palate, with an orange peel acidity that cleanses the finish." Wine Spectator
"A delicious, liquid Riserva with beautiful dried fruit and nutty, cedar-like influences. Also floral notes and dried peel. Full and silky, with a residue of red, savoury tannin coming through at the end. Very pretty now, but it will age for a long time." James Suckling
"Aromas of black plum and spice cake rise from the glass of this rich and heady Amarone. As the wine progresses, notes of dark chocolate and espresso follow through to dried thyme and violet notes. The rounded and rich tannins provide a structured and straightforward finish, while on the palate the tart red and dried black fruits mingle with sweet spices, leading to an earthy finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva San Floriano smolders up from the glass with a smoky blend of dried black cherries, blood orange and grilled herbs. This is a perfect mixture of elegance and purity, with silken textures and polished red fruits flowing across a lively stream of acidity. It’s youthfully dense and powerful yet also restrained, finishing with a web of fine-grained tannin that clamps down hard as hints of licorice and sour orange slowly taper off. It will take a good deal of time for the 2013 to come fully into focus, but it will be worth the wait. In 2013, the Riserva hailed entirely from the Case Vecie vineyard." Vinous

“Solaia” Toscana IGT 2013
Solaia 2013 convinces on the palate with an intoxicating array of superripe black cherries, plums, cassis, mocha and sweet French oak. This vintage has an almost exotic quality and despite its considerable ripeness and opulence, it is never heavy but impresses with its exceptional finesse and balance. Minerals, graphite and crushed rock frame a long, seductive finish. A wonderful Solaia full of vintage and vineyard character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, dark ruby violet. Emphatically spicy nose, some celery leaf and laurel, then rich blackberry, some tobacco. Plays up great on the palate, spicy flavours dominate there as well, dark berry fruit as well, opens up with grippy, savoury tannin, very long." Falstaff
"The 2013 Solaia is restrained in character. It resembles a young Bordeaux, with top notes of cassis, hints of smoke and scents of plum blossom. The palate is quite complete, with pure dark fruit layering and coating the solid frame while fresh garden mint lingers on the finish. Ripe without being sweet, this classy wine has all the elements to suggest a long life." Decanter
"Offers weight and presence, with black currant, plum and black cherry aromas and flavors. The structure is vibrant and harmonious. Herb, earth and spice accents complete the profile, with a lingering, savory finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2013 Solaia from magnum is a special wine. I spent a month in Tuscany that year, so my memories of the growing season are many. In the glass, the 2013 is exquisitely perfumed, vibrant and wonderfully nuanced." Vinous
"Lots of blackberry and other dark–berry character in addition to stones and currants. Full, tight and focused with chewy tannins and a long and linear finish. Powerful." James Suckling
"Marchesi Antinori's 2013 Solaia is a profound and meaningful wine that is based mostly on Cabernet Sauvignon with Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc in supporting roles. It sports a dark and thick texture with plump fruit and spice, grilled herb and black pepper. The bouquet is intense and layered with the kind of complexity that is best admired as the wine shifts and evolves in the glass. The textual impact is also impressive—you feel the inherent power and the structure, but these elements are never overdone. The best is yet to come; this Solaia is built for long cellar aging." Three years after the Annata, Romano and his sons launch a small edition of the same vintage in large formats. As every year, the secret star of the house gives the Dominator in Dal Forno style. Dark and dense, it reveals an intense bouquet with marmalade-like aromas of red and dark fruits, alongside which spices and wood, tobacco and chocolate echo. At the same time, the youthful and stormy taste is an overwhelming demonstration of power. SUPERIORE.DE
"A very rich and spicy nose of kirsch, sweet morello cherries, spice box, hazlenuts and vanilla beans with dried dark cherry cake and lots of cedar, too. Full body, sweet fruit, vibrant acidity, ripe and round tannins and a fruit-forward finish. Always excellent." James Suckling

La Spinetta's Riserva from the Barolo single vineyard Campè is filled only in the best vintages and is sold exclusively in Magnum bottles. Bright bright red. In the nose a fascinating and constantly changing variety of, among others, liquorice, pipe tobacco, black fruits, cassis, tar, rose hip and dried herbs. On the palate with beguiling sweet, dark red fruit, in addition again fine notes of tobacco and herbal spice. Its silky, fine-grained tannins are precisely formed to carry the wine for many years to come. SUPERIORE.DE
"I tasted some beautiful Barbarescos before this sample, but the power and the vigor of the Barolo appellation comes through with undeniable clarity here. The 2007 Barolo Riserva Campè Vürsù (Magnum) is a wine of muscle, brawn and fortitude. It shows more textural tightness and density than the Barbarescos of the same vintage (also in magnum) that are softer and more streamlined in comparison. This gorgeous bottle opens to dark fruit, black currant, spice, cola and earthy truffle. Ultimately, this wine's most memorable quality is the velvety, tightly-knit nature of its mouthfeel." “Solaia” Toscana IGT 2011
Intense, partly impenetrable ruby red. On the nose, warm, powerful notes that reflect the climate of the vintage and yet a delicate freshness. On the palate, ripe red fruit and spice, accompanied by deep floral notes, characterise the complex structure. Flattering, rich, enveloping and sweet thanks to the presence of ripe, dense and soft tannins. The balanced acidity contributes to the expressive taste and the long and extremely pleasant persistence. High seductive potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby violet. Opens with notes of mint and walnuts, then rich black currant, dark cherry, fine chocolate tones in the background. Shows lots of ripe, present fruit on the attack, opens with supple, dense tannin, fills the palate powerfully, very balanced and round." Falstaff
"Wonderful bramble fruit. Very modern and easily mistaken for great New World Cabernet. Gorgeous fruit quality on the nose. Fine smoky perfume on the finish. Quite heady and opulent, but perfectly balanced, and set up for a very promising future." Jancis Robinson
"This rich, bright red displays plum, blackberry, boysenberry, leather and spice notes, allied to a dense structure. Remains balanced and juicy through the finish and is built for the long haul." Wine Spectator
"A big, rich wine but there's lots of brightness and beauty at the same time. Shows licorice and asphalt. Full body with chewy tannins and a long finish. Terracotta, Tuscan dust and spice, plus balsamic too. This needs three to five years to soften. Intense finish." James Suckling
"Blackberry jam, cassis, grilled herbs and melted road tar meld together in the 2011 Solaia. Another super–exotic, racy 2011 from Antinori, Solaia is supremely beautiful. Mocha, espresso and sage are some of the many notes that add complexity. Hints of white truffle, lavender, smoke and licorice are laced into the exotic, racy finish. In 2011, Solaia has a dollop more of Cabernet Franc in the blend, added to give the wine a touch of freshness. Ripe and flashy to the core, the 2011 needs time to lose some of its youthful exuberance. At times, the 2011 could be easily mistaken for a wine from Napa Valley, such is its intensity." VINOUS

Three years after the Annata, Romano and his sons launch a small edition of the same vintage in large formats. At the same time, the youthful, stormy taste is an overwhelming demonstration of power. SUPERIORE.DE
"A harmonious Valpolicella in a richer style, displaying a lovely range of plumped black cherry, star anise, espresso crema, cured tobacco and fragrant smoke notes. The sinewy tannins are well-meshed, but lend weight and definition, and the lightly juicy acidity keeps this focused through to the lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"A remarkably concentrated red, redolent of dark-cherry ice cream, stuffed with chocolate-chip flakes that turn into meatier, earthier nuances of steak tartar and forest floor. Full-throttle and lavishly chewy, the tannins pucker all sides of the mouth with mesmerizing intensity; nevertheless they remain polished and acutely detailed, like an extravagant, wool-woven, Moroccan veil." James Suckling
"This is a terrific wine that stood out - and stood tall - despite the fact that it was tasted alongside some of Dal Forno's most important vintages of the top-shelf Amarone. If that's not a full-on recommendation, I don't know what is. The 2013 Valpolicella Superiore Monte Lodoletta oozes forth with thick concentration and an inky black color. The mouthfeel is thick and impenetrable, and the senses are treated to a long succession of black fruit, tar, spice, smoke, mesquite and barbecue flavors. The wine is full-bodied and very opulent, but it carries that massive intensity with grace and precision. This Valpolicella Superiore is very nicely done." Wine Advocate
"From one of the most iconic wineries in the Orientale, this is aged for two years in oak and a further three in bottle. A proper meditation wine, great with game, strong cheeses or a cigar. It has a huge nose of stewed red fruits, ethereal bramble forest fruits and blackberry jam. Generous, with spicy, bitter cherry-stone freshness. Full-bodied with a rich, intense, spicy undertone." The Torriglione vineyard is a stone's throw away from Annunziata and the Barolo vineyard of the same name is not only released two years later than the other crus of the estate, but is also bottled exclusively in magnums. It first reveals its very own character with a noble reserve and reticence, and its density and complexity only give a flavour of what awaits Barolo lovers after a few minutes of aeration. Everything is in its place here and there is more than enough of it: freshness, fruit, acidity, tannin, and all of it paired with a finesse that is unrivalled and that one would rather expect to find in Burgundy or on the Etna. A wine that is undoubtedly one of those that you absolutely have to drink at least once in your life! SUPERIORE.DE
