“Asinone” Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Its dense, intense colour has a lush bouquet, whose fruity hints of blackberries, sour cherries and blueberries are given an elegant touch by the delicate, very subtle wood spice. In the rich, firm flavour, the smooth tannin is well fused with the structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Warm-scented nose with a potpourri of berry fruit and fine spice, floral aromas and orange zest; still very youthful in the mouth with accentuated acidity and racy, albeit tightly woven tannins, the finish becomes increasingly opulent with aeration. Excellently made, should definitely mature." Vinum
"The nose is floral and earthy, with aromas of rosewater, herbs, damp earth and black cherries, as well as hints of cola and fresh pepper. On the palate, tart blackberries accentuate a persistent interplay between black cherry, pepper and herbal notes. Taut tannins reinforce a latent warmth." Wine Enthusiast
"Fresh and balanced, this red wine shows flavours of cherries, raspberries, flowers, minerals and tobacco. It offers depth and a supple texture that is balanced by a base of grippy tannins. Overall elegant, with fine length." Wine Spectator
"A flavoursome, opulent Vino Nobile with roasted sesame seeds, spices, ripe plums and citrus fruits. A firm frame of tannins envelops the citrus fruit. Firm, long and still a little chewy. Needs at least another year to develop." James Suckling

“Petresco” Rosso Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT 2018 (BIO)
Deep dark ruby red. Ripe notes of dried small currants and blackberries, plus some smoke and tobacco - this is Sangiovese in concentrated form. Lush and fleshy on the palate, with firm body, spicy nuances, multilayered fruit and a wonderful finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Petresco is another stellar wine from Le Cinciole. Bright and focused, with striking explosive energy, Petresco sizzles with tension. Black cherry, coffee, spice, leather, incense, lavender and plum all run through a linear, driving pure Sangiovese that is going to need at least a few years to come together. There is a ton of potential here, but readers need to be patient." Vinous

“Ilatraia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Opulent nose of red berries, pleasant smoky notes and fine herbal spice. Opulent and round on the palate, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but definite structure and the necessary seriousness until the long, soft finish. The well-integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis with the rather strict and taut Petit Verdot style in a very harmonious way. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense ruby. Opens with slightly smoky notes, then lots of spices, coriander seeds and cardamom, finally dark plum. Full and intense in attack and course, opens with gripping, hearty tannin, grippy, but also shows lots of juicy fruit, long finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Ilatraia, Brancaia's top wine from Maremma, is racy and lush from the start. A whole range of spicy and savoury overtones envelop the dark blue and blackish fruit. This heady blend is very expressive today. Blackberries, espresso, liquorice and leather climax the lush finish." Vinous
"This wine strides forward with an extremely herbaceous nose, from oregano to thyme to tomato leaf. It also conveys the peppery savoriness of capsicum plus the depth of newly turned soil and a final pop of sour cherries. The palate continues the theme, with more peppers and cherries, but also sundried tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. Polished and consistent tannins make for a fun but slick balance of savory and sweet." Wine Enthusiast
"This is a generous and layered expression with dark fruits, baker's chocolate and elegant spice. I tasted this wine alongside the 2018 vintage, which showed much more balance due to the additional year of ageing. Based on this observation, I recommend a longer drinking window for this wine. The 2019 shows plenty of primary fruit, brightness and concentration." Wine Advocate
"It has aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, black olives, cedar, dark chocolate, pralines, salted almonds and mint. Also some gunmetal and graphite. Creamy and flattering, with velvety tannins and a full body. Delicious notes of salted chocolate. So much power and concentration, yet it remains elegant. Long." James Suckling

“Verruzzo di Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2022 (BIO) · MAGNUM
The structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the spiciness of Cabernet Franc, the power of Syrah and the softness of Merlot combine here to create a red wine full of character, Mediterranean aromas and elegance. Dark red with a violet edge, fresh fruit bouquet of pomegranate and red currant with balanced hints of thyme, bay leaf and cedar. Initially very fresh and powerful on the palate with memories of raspberry and redcurrant, then round and harmonious, well structured and with soft tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

“MCMLVII” Merlot Vigneti delle Dolomiti DOC 2020 (BIO)
At the southern foot of the Margreider Schuttkegel is a vineyard with the dialect name "Punggl", which has been known and coveted for viticulture since time immemorial. In the mid-1950s, the former owners of the Hirschprunn estate planted a vineyard there with Merlot, as it had already produced very good results in previous decades. In 1995, the grapes from this vineyard were of such first-class quality that they inspired Luis von Dellemann, the Oenologistresponsible at the time, to vinify these grapes as a single variety - since then, and only in the best years, this strictly selected grape material has formed the basis for the MCM.
Cherry red with ruby red reflections. Intense aromas of wild berries, forest floor and spices on the nose. Complex and powerful on the palate, very balanced and profound, with a very fruity flavour and radiant freshness as it progresses. Great length and good potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"A crunchy merlot with less pulp than expected, yet it’s elegant. It shows leather and cassis with a hint of leaves on the nose. On the palate it’s medium-bodied with crisp acidity. A bit raw despite crunchy tannins." James Suckling

“Il Borro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
The top wine from the winery of the same name presents itself in an exemplary manner and as a kind of reference for many other so-called Super Tuscans in the region. Deep ruby red in colour with light red reflections. Dark fruit, spices, herbs, some leather and a fine tarry note on the nose. The flavours then unfold powerfully and concentrated on the palate, yet it glides velvety with a wonderfully balanced acid-tannin ratio into a rich, well-proportioned and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful attack with notes of forest fruits and spices; combines character with elegance, the tannins are fine-grained and interact with the acidity, with a polished final and length." Vinum
"On the nose, sour cherries and blackberries roll around in earth and wild herbs, then spread out on the palate over flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate and espresso. Lively acidity and penetrating spiciness emphasise the earthy saltiness that Il Borro expresses in a unique way. Lush but refined." Wine Enthusiast
"The Il Borro 2019 Il Borro shows very good definition of each of its components. The Syrah brings freshness and lift to the bouquet. The Merlot is aged in botte grande to bring out an authentic taste of the variety with earth and soil. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives firmness and structure. Bigger oak casks are used to help mitigate the alcohol content that, in the case of this wine, comes in at 15%." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and floral with aromas of black cherry and lavender, leading to a medium body with well-integrated tannins that spread nicely across the palate. It becomes silky and beautiful. A hint of smoke and spice at the end. Crisp on the finish." James Suckling

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2012 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2012, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 7 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
An exceptionally characterful and powerful Nero d'Avola is the Nerosanloré. From a beautiful vineyard in Pacchino, the area of origin of the famous vine. Mineral, vital, ripe, elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep ruby red. Refined, highly complex aromas of blueberries, flint, exotic spices, faded flowers, cumin and cardamom. Bright, juicy and penetrating on the palate, with great mid-palate energy and a brooding quality to the very deep but currently subtle spicy red and blue fruit flavours. It rises impressively on the back palate, which is elegant and perfumed, with soft, fine-grained tannins, a restrained sweetness and a lingering flinty nuance. A remarkably deep, complex NeroSanlorè." VINOUS

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO)
Of the four Gulfi-Cru, this is the vineyard closest to the sea, less than 700 metres away and only 10-15 metres above sea level. With vines that grow on sandy soils.
Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving the flavours of red cherries, raspberries, flowers and minerals beautiful definition and lift. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling perfume and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. A beautiful, multi-layered wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich and tangy with some baked cherries, cassis, mulberries, dried flowers and peppercorns. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate with fine, plush tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish." James Suckling
"A blend of crushed plums, rose petals, lavender and Violette pastille creates a deeply seductive bouquet as the 2019 NeroSanloré blossoms in the glass. This is a model of grace and elegance with silky textures, vividly ripe red and blue fruits elevated by sour citrus and a core of stimulating acidity. It finishes long and staining, with sweet tannins that frame the experience beautifully as tangerine and blackberry fade. The 2019 NeroSanloré is to die for; what a gorgeous Nero d'Avola." Vinous

“Fontanasanta” Manzoni Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2023 (BIO) · MAGNUM
A small marvel, perfectly harmonised with multi-layered aromas of tropical fruits, apples and honey. A highly interesting white natural wine that is far more than just a casual pleasure, as it offers an extremely full, well-structured flavour. Fermented with the skins using the red wine method. Strong yellow colour with golden reflections. Intense aroma of dried herbs, incense, candied lemon peel and a hint of bitter orange. Fresh citrus notes on the palate, an exciting acidity and a powerful structure lead into a very long finish, crowned by a hint of bitter almonds. Very complex and a wonderful accompaniment to food - be sure to aerate! SUPERIORE.DE

“Ugo Contini Bonacossi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
This impressive red comes from the single vineyard "Vitticciana", which was created by the "Godfather of Carmignano" Ugo Contini Bonacossi especially for a pure Sangiovese wine due to its perfect orientation. It is only produced in the best years, when it presents itself as a multi-layered wine with fine fruit and fine-grained tannins. After a few years of ageing in the bottle, it can easily hold its own with some of the best Brunello di Montalcino. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, medium ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Red sour cherries and pickled plums on the nose, with some verbena and spice in the background. Velvety tannins on the palate, well-balanced, still a little young on the final." Falstaff
"A hint of floral and spicy notes, with beautiful, pure fruit underneath. Very well-managed tannins and a long finish." Decanter
"A hint of dusty spices and pencil shavings accompany the ripe cherry and plum fruit flavours. Juicy and very lively on the palate with medium to full body and firm, metallic tannins that are firmly attached to the finish. Needs time." James Suckling
"The 2018 Ugo Contini Bonacossi, a varietal Sangiovese, evolves in the glass with a rich blend of cherry and plum sauce, accentuated and lifted by hints of sage and sweet mint. This is velvety smooth yet full of zesty energy, with a core of nervous acidity that enlivens its sour red and black berry fruits. The 2018 finishes long and staining yet light on its feet, leaving edgy tannins to resonate as the cheeks pucker with youthful tension. I expect the 2018 to evolve sooner than bigger vintages, but with that said, it is no less pleasurable." Vinous

“Desiderio” Merlot Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
Rich, dark ruby colour with a slight garnet sheen, very dense bouquet, clear, concentrated and inviting, of fine dark chocolate, lots of blackberry, flowers and liquorice. Intense dark berry fruit flavours on the palate, fine-grained tannins, subtle mineral tones. A great, smooth and very characterful Merlot from the Cortona region with a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet sage and mint give way to balsamic-tinged black cherries as the 2020 Merlot Desiderio opens in the glass. This flows across the palate with ease, medium in weight and supple. The saline-tinged acidity guides the core of tart red and blue fruits. Graphite notes mix with savory herbs and spice as the 2020 finishes with admirable length and a gentle coating of fine tannins." Vinous
"Very clear aromas of blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate and some orange peel follow through to a medium body with a solid core of fruit and a polished and refined texture. It’s driven and focused. Will age nicely." James Suckling

"Bright ruby colour with purple nuances. Dark and spicy nose of pipe tobacco, ebony, dark plum, also slightly balsamic. Dense and soft on the palate with dark chocolate, plums and rosemary, powerful and even, long." Falstaff
"Although lush and concentrated, this red wine is also light on its feet. Flavours of plum, blackberry, boysenberry and fruitcake abound, accented by notes of iron and spice, with a hint of wild herbs. Firm tannins line the finish, which nevertheless displays a fine harmony and a long-lasting aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The organic wine Il Borro 2020 is a powerful Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The wine shows a lot of oak, which is noticeable as roasted spices, coconut or buttered almonds. There is a distant note of dried dill, which disappears in the context of the big, ripe black fruit at the core. You get a lot of richness and fruit weight from a hot vintage." Wine Advocate
"Initially intensely spicy, with topsoil, graphite, leather, then fresh and floral with crushed sage and lavender, before wild cherry and wild strawberry emerge. On the palate, the black cherry notes are generous and bright, but with deep, brooding earth tones for contrast. The tannins are refined but tensile like good armour, and a warm but invigorating salinity runs through a long finish." Wine Enthusiast
"This is a round and quite juicy young wine with notes of blackberries, chocolate and grilled meat. Full and complex with very fine tannins that are well integrated and a bright finish. Lively on the finish." James Suckling

“Ghiaie della Furba” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO)
Ghiaie della Furba means "pebbles of the Furba stream" and there is a reason for this, as the vines for this wine grow on the river pebbles on the banks of this stream. It is one of the very first "Supertuscans". After an hour in the carafe, this extremely complex red reveals wonderfully clear, dark fruit, blackberries and cassis, as well as coffee notes, dark chocolate and spices. Its very good structure and personality are impressive. It is already very accessible today (with aeration), but still hides its great potential for the next decade. SUPERIORE.DE
"Nose dominated by Cabernet Franc with notes of blackberries, undergrowth, eucalyptus; then full-bodied with pithy tannins, carried by the acidity, the final dark berry-spicy and long." Vinum
"Complex combination of oak, dried herbs, fresh pomegranate and blackberries together with graphite and baking spice, combined with earthy undertones." Decanter
"Notes of crushed dark berries, dark chocolate, spices and dried herbs. Also some graphite. So bright and lively, concentrated and juicy dark fruit flavours, yet fresh and harmonious. Medium to full body. The tannins are well developed, firm but polished and unobtrusive. Long finish." James Suckling
"The Ghiaie della Furba 2020 opens with a mentholated freshness that combines minty herbs, spiced orange peel and redcurrants. It envelops the palate with a texture of pure silk and quickly gains grip with a core of tart red berries and acidic citrus, while the angular tannins pinch the cheeks. It finishes with admirable length, structure and concentration, leaving a pleasantly bitter aftertaste as notes of cedar and savoury herbal notes slowly fade. The 2020 needs time, and lots of it. Ghiaie della Furba is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah and 25% Merlot." Vinous
"The nose is reminiscent of a garden after a storm, where a fresh, floral note mingles with the stony character of the still humid air. On the palate, this stony element persists, while a hint of pepper, a touch of astringent red fruit and lively acidity sparkle over grippy, persistent tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Magically bright rosato made from seven grape varieties. Delicately scented with raspberries, mandarins and cherries. Juicy and creamy on the palate, long-lasting, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a mineral-fruity finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright salmon colour with a delicate copper sheen. Appealing bouquet of mandarins, juniper bush and cinchona bark. Very precise and powerful on the palate, with a fine harmony between fruit and freshness through to the long finish, slightly phenolic finish." Falstaff

Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Dark fruits on the nose, nuanced with spices, tar, liquorice and wild berries. The mouthfeel is soft and supple with a persistent and silky texture. Here is a Nebbiolo that exudes character and personality. Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a precise interpretation of the grape that draws a fine line between elegance and power with ease. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a very pretty, open-knit wine. Crushed flowers, red cherry/plum fruit, leather, spice, menthol and blood orange are front and center. Wines from Bordini tend to be a bit more tannic, but the 2021 here is pretty approachable. Floral and spice overtones lift the finish." Vinous
"Lots of petals, dried strawberries, cedar and milk chocolate on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with tannins that build on the palate and are long and persistent. It softens at the end as it grows on the palate." James Suckling

“Nerosanlorè" Nero d’Avola Sicilia IGT 2010 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2010, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 9 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
Bright red. Precise, brooding aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, cinnamon, lavender and violets, complicated by iodine and earth. Silky and juicy with a refined but very concentrated extract that tantalises the taste buds but remains lively and not at all heavy, adding lovely definition and lift to the red cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavours. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a fascinating fragrance in the mouth and extreme finesse. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fully saturated ruby. Pure, very deep aromas of black cherry, red plum, medicinal herbs and minerals. Rich, dense and suave, with complex flavors of saline red berries and dark plum complicated by repeating botanical herb and balsamic nuances. Finishes seamless an long. A wine of noteworthy purity, with an excellent balance of sweetness, acidity and tannins. This is Gulfi's closest vineyard to the sea and almost always gives the estate's most elegant, refined wine." “Vigna del Sorbo” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2017 (BIO)
Vigna del Sorbo pleases at first sight with its full, strong ruby red. It takes over the nose with a clear, intense fruitiness, to which herbaceous notes add, before the wide, consistent flavour and the straightforward, flawless final set in. An excellent harmony between structure and elegance and for years one of the greatest Gran Selezione in Chianti Classico. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep ruby. Rich and fleshy nose, smells of blackberry and ripe plum, some cinnamon in the background. Meaty and gripping also on the palate, lots of dark berry fruit, opens with present, dense tannin." Falstaff
"The Fontodi 2017 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is expressive, dark and thickly concentrated. I received my samples early and found that this wine was a little shy or slow to open in this early phase. If given extra time, the bouquet warms up to dark fruit, plum, rum cake and dried violet. I came back to the wine about two hours later and discovered a pretty note of crushed aspirin or carbon, with more crushed flower. The oak adds sweet spice and scorched earth, but these too will integrate with time." Wine Advocate
"Powerful, tight red with currant and plum character. Hints of new wood and bark. Full-bodied with dark berries and hints of dark chocolate, as well as other dark fruit. Flavorful finish. Solid. Needs time to open." James Suckling
"The summer was dry and warm without extreme heat and leading up to harvest, the nights cooled down substantially. His Vigna del Sorbo is one of the top wines among a robust set of stellar offerings from this outstanding vintage. It is remarkable for the freshness and purity that rises above the concentration and density. A mix of smoke, liquorice , black cherry and thyme emerges slowly. Even in their commanding grip, the tannins are perfectly polished and sophisticated. Full, packed with fruit but with incredible agility and lip-smacking tanginess, this lingers with fragrant earth, tobacco and crushed stone. For the long-haul." Decanter
"The 2017 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is a dense, packed wine. It is also surprisingly, almost shockingly backward. That is probably a good thing for its long-term aging prospects. Readers hoping to get an early glimpse into the 2017 before it shuts down may have a hard time doing that, as today acids and tannin dominate. I expect the 2017 will be stellar in another 4-5 years." “Firraru Family & Friends” Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2021 (BIO)
Firraru is Feudo Maccari's latest big hit: a small-production Grillo from black soils characterised by limestone, clay skeleton and an iron-rich matrix. Crystal clear yellow with golden reflections. Complex aroma of citrus fruits, fine flavours of vanilla and roasted cinnamon. Fresh and perfectly structured on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and an enveloping, very long flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Firraru from Feudo Maccari is a single-varietal Grillo. Cool and racy, it is beautifully flavoured and produces plenty of juice and body with a differentiated depth. Firmly structured and long, this is probably one of the best Grillo." Weinwisser
"Bright light golden yellow colour. Intense aroma of yellow apple, grapefruit, acacia and orange blossom as well as vanilla and caramel on the nose. Structured and full-bodied on the palate, pleasantly spicy and beautifully melting, very powerful and long final on hazelnuts." Falstaff
"The smoky, tropical flavours are joined by a hint of herbs, and in the mouth the excellent acidity drives the fruit through a structured, full-bodied expression of the variety. Lemon, apricot and citrus peel are underscored by plenty of black pepper and a certain creaminess, leading to a long and savoury, spicy finish. Give it a few more months to allow the wood to integrate further." Decanter
"The 2021 Grillo Firraru is intense. A whiff of crushed rocks and sage gives way to freshly sliced nectarines and enriching hints of almond custard. Luxurious and nearly opulent on the palate, its ripe orchard fruits and silken textures are all kept in balance by a core of stimulating acidity. The 2021 cleans up beautifully through the finish with a crisp mineral tinge while suggestions of ground ginger create a spicy sensation. While I notice the oak treatment here, it is very well integrated." Vinous
"Lots of crushed oysters, dried flowers, flint and matches. Hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, but very energetic. Crunchy. Notes of liquorice and aniseed." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016 (BIO)
The grapes for Fornacinas Riserva come from a small 5 hectare plot and the result offers a wonderfully firm structure with plenty of warmth and harmony. On the palate, it convinces with textural richness and wonderful secondary aromas that come with three years of oak ageing. The initially crisp tannins will stand another year or two of bottle ageing to become softer and more relaxed. A top-year classic with a wonderfully intense and long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is very fine-tannined and silky with cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with lots of berry, earth, walnut and dried-flower character at the end. From organically grown grapes. Very attractive now, better in a few years." James Suckling
"Traditional stone farmhouses in Tuscany always have a bread oven, or "forno" in Italian, somewhere near the entrance of the home. That wood-burning oven is a symbol of family warmth, inclusiveness and home. I'd like to think that this is the spirit with which Fornacina (the "little oven") is named. The estate's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (a certified-organic wine) is a bottle I happily recommend to those looking for under-the-radar names in Montalcino. I love the delicate and bright nature of this wine and the subtle manner in which the wine's acidity and lean-bodied texture enlivens the palate." Wine Advocate

“Sgarzon Cilindrica” Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti (Riserva) IGT 2018 (BIO)
Sgarzon is a single vineyard, hardly more than a kilometre from Morei as the crow flies, but here the Noce has deposited more sand in the upper soil layers, the plot is more open and thus less protected from cold winds. The grapes ripen about a week later. Teroldego Sgarzon is fabulous, filigree and yet full of richness and energy from the attack to the final.
Sgarzon Cilindrica is a Demeter-certified Teroldego Cru in Riserva quality and a delicate wine that is at the same time full of richness and energy from the start to the final. The extended ageing of 12 months in cylindrical amphorae underlines the character of the site wine once again in an impressive way. Only 350 bottles of this "project wine" were bottled! SUPERIORE.DE

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Poggio San Polo Brunello is a selection of the best grapes from the estate's various vineyard sites. It opens very engagingly with dark fruit, including plenty of black cherry and dark plum, optimally rounded off by a fine balsamic herbal spice and notes of white pepper. The palate has an almost perfect texture, a suppleness and silkiness that is refreshed and carried by a well-proportioned, refined Sangiovese acidity. Dark berry flavours, long, deep and with a very remarkable, slightly mineral final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour with delicate garnet-red rim highlights. Alternating cherry fruit and cigar box on the nose. Harmonious and fresh on the palate, lively acidity, well-integrated tannins, lots of marzipan on the finish, lingers for a remarkably long time." Falstaff
"San Polo is located on the south-eastern flank of Montalcino. Monte Amiata rises above the estate and provides a constant breeze that keeps the humidity low. The 16 hectares are divided into eight plots and are blended depending on the vintage. The brick-coloured 2018 opens with aromas of charcoal, then is joined by smoky wild berries, dried orange peel and a hint of juniper. The core is richly concentrated without being overbearing, while supple tannins fill the mouth with an assertive, balanced structure. It finishes with an earthy hint of liquorice root." Decanter
"Shows earthy, rustic aromas that hint at a slight reduction, giving way to flavours of plum, cherry, rose, juniper, eucalyptus and iron. The powerful tannins characterise the compact finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, a certified organic wine, shows a savoury character that accompanies the wine from start to finish on the palate. There is a core of black fruit, but the real highlight is the spicy contour of dark chestnut shells, acacia honey, ploughed earth and roasted rosemary that fills the balloon of the glass. This Brunello finishes on an acidic note and shows tannins that could use a few more years to soften. This is a wine of medium concentration." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of sour plums, cherry stones, bark and iodine, with some dried herbs. So fresh, tangy and flavourful, with bright berry fruit and savoury moss notes. Fine and integrated tannins. Medium body. Everything is about balance." James Suckling
"The mainly earthy, sanguine nose is enlivened by the slightly tart sweetness of the plums. This pleasant dynamic continues on the palate before finally giving way to a chocolaty, coffee-like finish. Firm but supple tannins provide structure, while the acidity brings warmth." Wine Enthusiast
"South-east of the denomination, a project of the Allegrini family, still relatively young but at the highest quality level, like this 2018. Pomegranate on the nose, with a hint of wild mint and juniper. Crisp on the palate, with salty tannins and a fruity-menthol finish." Luca Gardini

“Morei Cilindrica” Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti (Riserva) IGT 2018 (BIO)
Morei (dark in Trentino dialect) is an original red wine that is true to its terroir and yet irresistibly elegant and refined. Warm, dense and mineral like the soil on which it grows. Morei is protected from cold northerly winds by the nearby, abruptly rising rock faces.
Morei Cilindrica is the Demeter-certified Teroldego cru in Riserva quality and a racy wine with intense and mineral-driven flavours. The vineyard is planted in an old river bed lying in rocks and sand. This and the 12 months of ageing in cylindrical amphorae give the site wine its terroir-typical, clear profile. SUPERIORE.DE
"Vibrant, wild, dark-red fruit, a little peppery. The tannins are extremely fine, especially for Teroldego, and increase the freshness of the fruit. pep, tender texture. Delicate and long." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Teroldego Morei Cilindrica smells of wild berries, melon and gravel. It is soft with a deep minerality, but also with juicy acids that create a lively and joyful feel, even as the tart wild berries saturate. It leaves a subtle layer of tannin and a hint of spice as it finishes dry and fresh. This limited edition version of Morei has spent an extra year on a Cilindrica Amphora, which essentially means two years of refinement." Vinous
