Prinsipi from the small vineyard parcel of the same name was once developed by son Fabio as a 100 per cent Chardonnay and "little brother" of Bastia, but now 10 per cent Manzoni Bianco is added, which gives it more freshness and lightness. "From the Lageder family’s 8ha Römigberg estate above Lake Caldaro, where pergola-trained Schiava grapes are farmed biodynamically. The fruit is fermented partly in large wooden barrels, partly in stainless steel, and with some extended skin contact. A pale bright garnet colour, the nose is rosy and smoky with notes of pomegranate and cranberry over intense, spicy notes of cinnamon and clove.
