Mason di Mason is described by the winery as "a Grand Cru within a Grand Cru". It comes from the highest and oldest parcels of the Mazzon vineyard with thinner moraine soils over hard limestone, resulting in smaller berries. The aromas of red and black cherries are joined by bitter herbs, cocoa and earth, which are reflected in the mouth, where the flavour is intense, structured and woody. "The Oreno is the top wine of the Tenuta Sette Ponti of the Moretti Cuseri family. The estate is located near Arezzo. The Oreno 2020 consists of 50 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 % Petit Verdot. It is matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Dense and clear, as well as with beautiful race, the Oreno presents itself somewhat finer than the Orma from the sister estate from the Maremma. Clearly more fresh and with more acid kick, the Oreno shines with a fleshy presence and great sweetness. The tannins are somewhat rounder, with good, creamy richness and solid length. The Vigna del Sorbo vineyard is located directly in front of the winery in the municipality of Panzano. The south-west facing vineyard with Galestro soils covers 8 hectares at an altitude of 450 metres. The Riserva was first produced in 1985 and has been labelled Gran Selezione since the 2010 vintage.

This organically grown Sangiovese from a single vineyard is characterised by its impeccable balance, purity and beautiful intensity. Fresh on the nose with aromas of red cherries and lemon thyme. Vigna del Sorbo has a pronounced fruitiness on the palate, which contrasts beautifully with the spicy and tobacco-like notes. This is closely followed by a lovely acidic note, salty tannins, great compactness and spiciness. All of this, together with the supple and delicately sweet tannins, makes this Gran Selezione an unforgettable exceptional wine full of vigour and elegance in this vintage too! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Panzano Vigna del Sorbo is somewhat more delicate, even subdued, compared to its new brother, the more opulent Terrazze San Leonlino. Aromatically, the Vigna del Sorbo is a little more self-centred, but shows just enough complexity and beauty to believe in its future ageing potential. Even now, tasted so young, the wine's pedigree is evident. It is characterised by its complexity and depth. The tannins are velvety soft, and gentle mineral flavours give it a special note. The vivacious Chiara Boschis has been a rather modernist Barolo winemaker for over 25 years, although she now uses much less new oak than in the past. She is best known for her Cannubi, but her Mosconi, from 1 ha of this top vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, can be just as good in some vintages.

Medium to deep crimson. Very nice nose of earthy, complex cherry and blackberry fruit with subtle oak notes and a hint of pine. On the palate juicy and smooth red fruit, very concentrated. Delicious, crisp tannins. It is a plump, full-bodied and very concentrated wine that is assertive and youthful when young - but in balance. It is darker and fruitier than most classic Barolos, yet always structured, complex, tight and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino has a slow attack with exotic aromas of sweet spices, cedar chips, ash stone, mint and a hint of sage. It is luxuriously soft in texture, silky and refined, with a depth of balsamic-tinged cherries accelerated by vibrant acidity and a hint of sour citrus that adds contrast. The finish is impressively structured for the vintage, still lively but classically dry, leaving nuances of tart berries balanced by a burst of inner sweetness that is very well underlined. This was a very difficult vintage, with massive rains in August that made working in the vineyard very difficult, but also very important. However, the team at Poggio have done a fantastic job of finding balance. Definitely give the 2018 a lot of time, because I followed it for three days and it got better and better." Vinous
