Clemens Lageder told us: "We were in for a surprise when processing the grapes from this Porer component. When the grapes were tipped, a significant proportion of botrytis berries was found in many of the grapes. The wine was nevertheless bottled. As the wine matured, we got to know and appreciate it more and more. This is how our understanding developed: From initial rejection and uncertainty to appreciation of the influence of noble rot on Pinot Gris. Most of this component became part of the 2020 Porer Pinot Grigio, while we left a small part aside and created this comet." Just 632 bottles of the PIPO TRY comet were filled ... SUPERIORE.DE

Fiano Pietraincatenata is the winery's flagship white wine and takes the grape variety to a whole new level. The bouquet is a fascinating blend of grapefruit, lime zest and peach with a hint of sweet smoke as it warms up in the glass. Silky yet savoury to the core on the palate. A cornucopia of citrus fruits and minerals completes the green apple fruit. Tense and invigorating as it progresses and finishes, but still well suited to further and exciting bottle ageing. The Viognier and Chardonnay vines grow on Caiarossa's most calcareous terroir. The grapes are fermented separately in oak barrels, matured on the lees and blended at the end, with little or no decanting in order to produce the wine with as little oxygen contact as possible. The result is a precise and clean white wine that, with its beautiful volume, depth and smoothness with fragrant flavours of flowers and almonds, goes well with a delicate and fragrant pesto. The pioneer of Riesling on Italian soil is Aldo Vajra. Already fascinated by the variety as a student, he planted the first vines of the White Riesling variety in the Langa. Very light yellow-green in colour when young, developing into a strong straw yellow. The flavours of the noble Pètracine also take a varied course. Starting with peach and apricot, delicate floral and citrus notes follow in the middle, while minerality takes centre stage as the wine matures. L'Albereta is Alessio Logi's top wine from the single vineyard of the same name, which is also organically farmed. It owes its unmistakable identity to its rich, full-bodied texture, among other things. Matured for 12 months in oak barrels, it is rich in apricots, honey, cedar wood and roasted almonds. L'Albereta is a ripe and fleshy sun wine with a long, creamy finish flanked by smoke, spices and a delicate hint of cinnamon. The grapes for this exotic, barrique-aged noble Chardonnay come from the Bricco Bastia and Ginestra vineyards and the result is a bright, racy white wine in a minimal edition. Full, yellow-fruity bouquet, round and at the same time very fresh on the palate, very taut and dry, beautiful citrus notes harmoniously accompany the complex, vital finish. Emilio and Elisabetta Foradori only press 8,000 bottles of Fuoripista Pinot Grigio from the biodynamic vineyards of the Campo Rotaliano site every year. The delicate pink-coloured wine is fermented for eight months on the skins in tinajas (Spanish amphorae), where it matures slowly to reveal the delicate character of Pinot Grigio and the forgotten diversity of Trentino. Nosiola - an ancient grape variety of Trentino - was once cultivated throughout the country. Today, its cultivation is limited to the mountains and valleys of Trento. The Nosiola grape produces wines of great finesse and longevity. Elisabetta's Nosiola also gains exceptional vigour and energy through biodynamics and ageing in amphora. Give the Nosiola time and be patient: Only after sufficient aeration and at a serving temperature of around 13 degrees does this white wine reveal its full potential. SUPERIORE.DE

The eruption of 1614 is legendary in the history of Etna, as it lasted ten years, making it the longest recorded eruption of the active volcano to date. A very impressive and fitting name for Planeta's Etna series of equally impressive wines.

Riesling from Etna? Initially an experiment, admittedly. But it can truly be described as successful and great: the latest addition to Planeta's Etna family with a delicate pale colour with green reflections; on the nose with a wide variety of aromas such as white apple, plum, lemon and yellow flowers. Completely dry on the palate, with mild acidity, fine minerality and (especially with increasing maturity) pronounced fruitiness and beguiling depth and length. SUPERIORE.DE

The Popoli vineyard bears witness to the fact that the Valle Reale plateau has been a wine-growing area since time immemorial. Several rows of this vineyard stretch out in front of the ruins of a cave cellar dating back to 1300. This is where the Benedictine monks from the monastery of San Benedetto in Perillis produced and stored their wine. A small plot of about 1 hectare is dedicated to Trebbiano d'Abruzzo.

Intense, bright straw yellow colour. Amazing, multi-layered and very animating bouquet of lime, quince and grapefruit, with hints of sage. More savoury than sweet, it impresses on the palate with its cool freshness and ripe fruit, supported by a lively acidity.
