Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2012 · MAGNUM in OWC
Young and fresh, rich ruby garnet, complex, very aromatic bouquet, strong tannin, lots of fruit, fine melting, cleanly structured, harmoniously balanced, long finish. Store it as best you can and enjoy the anticipation! SUPERIORE.DE
"Velvety, rich ruby. Very present and fresh nose, full of plums, raspberries and cranberries, appealing. Very juicy at the base, opens with fine, dense tannin, beautiful enamel, spreads for a long time, firm pressure in the finale". Falstaff
"The 2012 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is one of the bigger, richer wines in the lineup, which is a bit atypical. Readers should expect a huge, dramatic Rocche built on power, intensity and volume. At the same time, the Rocche is incredibly precise and layered. It is that very interplay of richness and finesse that makes the Rocche so alluring. Rose petal, mint and sweet red berries build to a crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures that takes over all the senses." Antonio Galloni
"Wow. The rose petal aroma is gorgeous with ripe strawberry and cherry undertones. Full body, dense and powerful. Chewy and rich tannins. Lasts for minutes on the palate." James Suckling

Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2014 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is probably the richest wine in Viettis vintage range. It is a monument based on performance, intensity and power. At the same time, Rocche is incredibly precise and multi-layered every year. It is precisely this interplay of fullness and finesse that makes the Rocche so tempting. Rose petals, mint and sweet red berries form a crescendo of aromas and textures that appeals to all the senses. In the almost endless reverberation, everything comes into harmony again as if by magic and leaves behind a Nebbiolo experience of the third kind. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plum and black cherry flavors are augmented by leather, underbrush and tobacco notes. Offers hints of chocolate and sweet spices, while the muscular structure keeps this under wraps. Delivers ample fruit and bright acidity, not to mention a lingering aftertaste. Turns silky and elegant with air." Wine Spectator
"Really shows what was possible in this difficult vintage! What a complex nose with hazelnuts, chocolate, flowers and herbs in profusion. Hints of licorice and candied citrus peel, too. Quite a major structure with bold, dry tannins, which are already very well-integrated. A really long finish." James Suckling
"This is a beautiful wine from a challenging vintage—Luca Currado tells me it reminds him of his father and his childhood. Indeed, the 2014 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a nostalgic wine with old-school Barolo aromas of wild berry, orange peel, hazelnuts and earthy truffle. The wine opens to a very attractive ruby color and dark garnet highlights. The mouthfeel is silky and smooth but extremely well structured at the same time. Some 150 magnums were made in this vintage because there is an expectation that this wine will age with grace and attitude." Wine Advocate
"Vietti's 2014 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is shaping up to be a modern-day classic. Piercing, intense and austere in the best sense of the word, the Rocche is a wine of laser-like focus that will leave Barolo lovers weak in the knees. Candied cherry, pomegranate, kirsch, rose petal and violet overtones give the 2014 its inner sweetness and captivating perfume. In a word: stunning. Don't miss it." Antonio Galloni

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2010 (BIO) · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Camartina 2010 presents itself sparkling ruby, with opulent fragrant bouquet of cloves, lots of blackberry fruit, some chocolate. On the palate very much juicy fruit, spicy notes, underlaid by grippy tannin, very clear and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2010 Camartina is one of the most beautiful versions of this wine I have tasted in some time. Layered and vibrant on the palate, the 2010 impresses for its finesse and nuance. Freshly cut flowers, mint, dark red berries and graphite all meld together in a wine of exceptional refinement. Today, the aromas and flavors are naturally not fully expressive, but another few years should work wonders. The cool, late-ripening season yielded a Camartina of understated class and pedigree. This is a fabulous showing." Antonio Galloni
"A powerful red wine with an abundance of berry, dried fruits and hints of vanilla on the nose and palate. Full body, with chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Needs at least two or three years of bottle age to come together. Made from biodynamically grown grapes." James Suckling
"A vivid, fresh style, whose berry and cherry flavors are focused and augmented by tobacco, underbrush and iron notes. Tight and intense, presenting a long, mineral-inflected finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese." Wine Spectator
"The 2010 Camartina offers many beautiful surprises. This blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese is a structured and powerful wine, but it offers elegance and balance as well. This classic vintage has done its part to shape a wine that offers bright fruit intensity, delineated aromas of blueberry and spice, and a richly velvety sensation in the mouth. You can hold this wine for the next ten years." Wine Advocate

Barolo Mosconi DOCG 2018 · 3 bottles in OWC
Four years ago, Pio Boffa bought himself a "small" present for his 60th birthday. Not a new set of golf clubs, a picture hanging in the hall, a holiday for him and the family. No. Just a vineyard called Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, a region of Piedmont where four generations of the Pio Cesare dynasty never gained a foothold. Originally, the grapes from the 10-hectare vineyard were to enhance the quality of his classic Barolo, but after the first barrel samples, it was unmistakably clear to Pio Boffa that this would be at least an equal - if stylistically different - counterpart to the hitherto undisputed flagship Ornato.
Mosconi is more light-footed than Ornato, with red rather than black fruits dominating the nose, along with irresistible liquorice and a juiciness that will immediately earn it a top place in the entire appellation. On the palate, it has a precision that is unparalleled, less punchy than Ornato, but more elegant and subtle. SUPERIORE.DE
"Another transparent ruby red with garnet reflections. Exciting bouquet with distinct notes of blood oranges and candied orange peel, plus finest Dominican tobacco and leather, dazzling and individual. Elegant palate with fresh, cherry-influenced fruit, grippy, punchy, finely chiselled style with silky firm tannin, plus salty mineral nuances in the long finish." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby garnet with brightening rim. Very inviting and clear nose of sweet wild raspberries, cherry and rose petals, some cardamom in the background. Gripping, gripping tannin, shows discreet earthy notes, after truffle and tobacco, very grippy on the final, salty, needs a few more years." Falstaff
"Medium ruby red with orange reflections. Almost explosive minerality on the nose with a hint of sour cherry and a hint of spicy oak. Complex but still restrained on the nose. Wonderfully supple fruit with polished, finely honed but firm tannins almost a little reminiscent of Serralunga. Plenty of stuff to chew on and spectacular, layered flavours on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, with plum and cherry aromas, this Barolo also shows a spicy side of eucalyptus, liquorice and clove. Shows viscosity in texture as well as excellent balance. It finishes with dense, refined tannins and lingering notes of macerated fruit and savory." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barolo Mosconi is magnificent. It offers a complex blend of rose petals, dried herbs, iron, graphite, smoke, incense, scorched earth and blood orange, capturing all the complexity that makes the best Barolos from this site so compelling. Powerful and profound, but also very elegant, the 2018 is another fine Barolo from a winery that has made a pretty significant stylistic shift in recent years." Vinous
"Very compact on the nose and palate, with notes of dried red berries, truffle, sous-bois and dried flowers. Full-bodied with a fine tannin structure and a very long finish. Compact and solid. This wine still needs a lot of time to open up, but already shows real class. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"Compared to the Ornato, the 2018 Barolo Mosconi (with fruit from Monforte d'Alba) shows a tighter and more compact quality with a direct, linear and powerful approach. The bouquet builds vertical intensity, starting with tart fruit aromas and culminating in tar, rusty nails and camphor ash. This aromatic ascent is swift and the wine finishes with a very broad, all-encompassing performance." Wine Advocate
"From soils with a combination of silt, clay and, to a small extent, sandstone, a perfect photo of the terroir of Monforte. Cornel on the nose, with notes of pink grapefruit and clove, mouth with iodine-spicy tannins, crispness and tension, nice persistence." Luca Gardini

“Scrio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · MAGNUM in gift box
Scrio - great Tuscan Syrah by Le Macchiole - is a true beauty. The persistent bouquet offers aromas of dark berries and cured meat, warm and balsamic on the palate with great intensity and dynamism, rich in extracts and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby violet. Inviting and intense nose with pronounced notes of plums, blueberries and blood oranges. A dense tannin on the palate, with a good feel, deep, clearly earthy tones, firm pressure in the finish, lots of tobacco." Falstaff
"Black cherry, chocolate, new leather, spice and menthol all flesh out in a wine that possesses notable power. Today, Scrio is mostly a wine of texture and density, while varietal notes are not especially evident. The oak is also quite dominant." Antonio Galloni
"Deep and saturated in both color and fruit, with core flavors of ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry, this red also offers interwoven notes of earth, vanilla, licorice and black pepper. This is solidly built, yet also polished and balanced, with a long, palate-staining finish." Wine Spectator
"It's worth noting that the Scrio was not made in 2014, as Syrah did not reach the right maturity for the quality Le Macchiole looks for. The 2015 growing season wasn't much easier, with 15 days of extreme heat in July. August brought cooler weather, and so they tried to slow down the ripening process by doing very little green harvest. This vintage is marked by more pepper than fruit, but it's still a beautiful effort, and I see a lot of potential for aging this wine. The 2015 Scrio is made with a more reductive approach overall, and this vintage needs a year or two to open fully. Only 3,000 bottles were made." Wine Advocate
"A stunning syrah; the real McCoy for the variety. The depth of aroma takes your breath away with bark, tea leaves, peppermint, dried rosemary, thyme, sage, pressed violets, cedar, creme de cassis, blackcurrants and lavender. The palate is incredibly tight and yet, profound in its delivery of flavors. Full body, layer upon layer of fruit of every color on the spectrum, pinpoint acidity and a finish that seems endless." Barolo Rocche di Castiglione DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
"The 2015 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is incredibly inviting from the very first taste. Silky and aromatic, the Rocche shows plenty of the classiness that is such a signature of this Castiglione Falletto site. As with all of these 2015s, readers will have to be patient. The 2015 gains striking volume and resonance with time in the glass, but a few years in bottle are an absolute must for the wine to show at its very best." Vinous
"A rich, almost opulent style, this Barolo delivers cherry, raspberry, plum and eucalyptus flavors on a base of stiff tannins. Turns vibrant and chewy, with a solid, minerally finish." Wine Spectator
"Along with the Ravera, the 2015 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione has a very fresh feeling (they are both grown with less direct sunlight). Indeed, there are many similarities between these two prestigious Barolos from Vietti, but the differences start with the vinification methods. While the Ravera sees malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the Rocche di Castiglione completes that phase in botte. To continue the comparison, these two wines are certainly more closed than the other Barolo crus from this producer, the Lazzarito and the Brunate, which blossom and open more quickly. Even though it is a bit shy, the defining characteristics of herbaceous rosemary and balsamic notes show up well in this vintage of the Rocche di Castiglione, a vineyard site that prizes elegance above all else." Wine Advocate
"A hauntingly complex and finely detailed nose that touches so many different characters. Roses, dried wood, cedar, fine brown spices, light earthy notes, warm stones, mountain herbs and leaves. All here – very complex. The density and weight is exceptional, as is the fine, firm weave of tannins. The length is staggering and the tautness and balance are captivating. One of the stars of the vintage!" James Suckling

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Brunate from luxuriant, fertile location in La Morra, shines with concentration and wealth. Elegant bouquet of dark cherries, plums and a hint of citrus fruit. The taste is full-bodied, but never powerful. Wonderfully structured, granular tannin, good acidity. Brunate 2013 requires some patience, which is however rewarded with a wonderful drop. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny ruby garnet. Intense nose, ripe raspberries, strawberries, dark cherries, cloves. Juicy and supple in the attack and course, present fruit, opens with fine-meshed tannin, catchy in the finish." Falstaff
"Pure cherry, strawberry and floral flavors, plus flashes of eucalyptus and wild herb, mark this supple, bright red. Firms up toward the finish yet remains balanced, refined and long, with a lingering aftertaste of cherry, tobacco and mineral." Wine Spectator
"Very focused young Barolo with lots of aromas of crushed strawberries and raspberries. Hints of lilacs, too. Full to medium body, very fine tannins and a persistent and beautiful finish." James Suckling
"Like the other important Nebbiolo-based wines made by Vietti, the 2013 Barolo Brunate follows the house style that sees longer maceration times and submerged cap fermentation. This results in exceptional fullness and plushness in terms of texture that transcends the mouthfeel. The wine's expressive bouquet shows open and frank aromas of dark fruit, tar, road paving, crushed stone and black truffle. This vintage also shows a savory or foxy touch of old leather or spice. I'd suggest a medium-term drinking window. Luca Currado presents his wines in ascending order of power." Wine Advocate
"Vietti's 2013 Barolo Brunate is one of the most reticent, powerful and explosive wines in the range. Huge beams of tannin give the wine its energy and overall shape. Readers will have to be especially patient with the 2013, as it is built for the long haul. As...in the very long haul. The gravitas and overall muscularity of Brunate is quite evident, but the wine remains raw, powerful and in need of significant bottle age. Today, the tannins are searing, which adds to the wine's brooding personality. This is the first vintage that includes old-vine fruit that used to go to Oberto and Marengo from a parcel Vietti acquired a few years ago." Antonio Galloni

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2014 · MAGNUM in OWC
Viettis Ravera is one of the great stars of Piedmont in its precision and structure. Rose petals, chalk, pepper and a hint of pomegranate make this Barolo one of the most sought-after appellations every year. With a little storage maturity, the strong tannins give way to an elegant appearance that does not deviate one millimetre from the coveted style of this large site. A monument to Barolo, which apart from Vietti and Giacosa, only a few other Piedmontese winegrowers bring into the bottle with such consistency! SUPERIORE.DE
"Licorice, nuts and chocolate dominate the rich bouquet of this sophisticated Barolo. The dense and velvety tannins give the long finish tremendous power!" James Suckling
"Cherry, raspberry, rose, anise and tobacco aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this rich red. The core of fruit is well-supported by dense, refined tannins and vibrant acidity. Shows excellent balance and length. Seemingly built to age." Wine Spectator
"To my palate, the Ravera cru is one of the most immediately recognizable in the entire Barolo appellation. It gives off robust aromas of cherry liqueur and bitter chocolate. Those are two of the beautifully polished characteristics you get with the 2014 Barolo Ravera. But there is a lot more complexity to behold in this wine. Subtle notes of balsam herb, crushed mineral and rusty iron also appear. This next descriptor might seem awkward to a non-Italian readership, but you might even detect a hint of perfumed anchovy. It's all good and all beautiful." Wine Advocate
"Another highlight in this range, the 2014 Barolo Ravera opens with the most exquisite, captivating aromatics imaginable. It will be interesting to see if it develops a bit more midpalate depth and pliancy. Today, the 2014 is a bit austere, even within the context of the year and this site, where the wines are a bit on the nervous side to start. I have seen Vietti Raveras blossom into spectacular wines and imagine that will be the case here as well. Readers should not plan on opening a bottle anytime soon." Antonio Galloni

Brunello di Montalcino “Bassolino di Sopra” DOCG 2012 · MAGNUM in OWC
With the Brunello Bassolino di Sopra, Pian Dell'Orino has undoubtedly succeeded in creating one of the most exciting Brunellos of the 2012 vintage. Warm, very seductive aromas of black cherries, flowers, tobacco, minerals and undergrowth emerge from the bright ruby red. The interplay between the rich fruit and the classic structure is ingenious. The taste captivates with its intensity, luxurious and mysterious. SUPERIORE.DE
"A translucent ruby with purple hues in the glass, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Bassolino di Sopra wafts up with an incredibly pretty mix of dusty dried roses, cedar spice box, wild strawberries and incense. This is elegance personified, yet also delicate in character, with a silken wave of ripe red fruits laced with sweet herbs tones, as mildly grippy tannins slowly saturate toward the close. The 2012 Bassolino di Sopra is still structured through the finale, leaving a primary concentration that creates youthful poise, as wild berry nuances slowly fade. It’s amazing, but this still needs time and has the balance to last." Vinous
"This wine immediately grabs your attention and focus thanks to the incredible purity and intensity that lifts so gracefully from the glass. The bouquet presents aromas of dried cherry, cassis, freshly tilled soil and wild rose. The wine carries itself with majesty, floating or gliding over the palate with silky smoothness. The longer you contemplate the bouquet, the more aware you become of its complexity and depth. It closes with dark and almost spicy fruit intensity." Wine Advocate

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep, full red with a fine sheen. The La Morra edition from Vietti's famous Barolo family impresses with an impressive aroma of red berries, cherries, wild herbs, mint, minerals and rose petals, rounded off with a hint of blood orange. On the palate, it is opulent, full, with fine sweetness and structure, and the multilayered, long final is accompanied by almost aristocratic tannin. A typical Vietti Cru with a lot of class. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Firm yet closed on the nose. Quite pure cherry on the palate followed by muscular but polished, coating tannins. Concentrated yet elegant and finely balanced. Powerfully structured finish with plenty of fruit to match." Jancis Robinson
"The 2015 Barolo Brunate is powerful and dense in the glass, with plenty of Brunate tannin that enshrouds the palate. Iron, smoke, grilled herb, menthol and spice notes add complexity to the dark, sepia-toned fruit. The 2015 is a baby. It will benefit from several years in bottle and then drink well to age 25-30, perhaps beyond. This is the first vintage made from Vietti's expanded holdings following the acquisition of a parcel that formerly went to Andrea Oberto." Vinous
"This savory red delivers balsamic aromas and flavors of wild rosemary, juniper, eucalyptus and tobacco, revolving around a core of cherry, strawberry, graphite and licorice notes. Firm and sinewy on the finish, with an aftertaste of ripe, sweet fruit. Excellent length." Wine Spectator
"This has a rather reserved nose with dried-herb, rosehip, potpourri and light cedary aromas, ahead of fragrant dried cherries. The palate has quite dense and smoothly rendered, ripe tannins that deliver a long, composed and approachable Barolo." James Suckling
"This is an explosive and absolutely exuberant expression of Nebbiolo from a vineyard site in La Morra near M. Marengo’s property. Vietti farms two parcels here, a higher side of the vineyard and a lower one (near Damilano and Ceretto). These lower parts of Brunate perform very nicely in the cooler vintages. Instead, this warm vintage expression puts a lot of its fruit depth and personality upfront in a confident and no-fuss manner. You absolutely know what you are getting here, even at the first sniff of the bouquet. The wine proceeds to open and blossom before your nose, offering dark fruit, rose, spice and a very linear mineral tone at the back. That linear flinty note is just terrific." Wine Advocate

Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Lazzarito impresses every year with its precision and class - two qualities not often found in the Nebbiolo of the Serralunga area. Iron, smoke and white pepper flow into the nose, in the glass these impressions are prolonged by a hint of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange. Vietti's Lazzarito always stands for power and finesse and has been in no way inferior to its "colleagues" from Ravera and Rocche for quite some time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, bright ruby garnet. Opens in the nose with distinct earthy notes of leather, some tar and truffle, behind it fine blackberry, discreet hazelnut note. Gripping, very intense tannin, a lot of pressure on the palate, but also a very high proportion of harsh, drying components, put it away and forget it for the next ten years." Falstaff
"A release of 8,760 bottles, the Vietti 2017 Barolo Lazzarito draws its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba and reveals a luminous garnet color. Compared to some of the others in this portfolio, the wine takes a little longer to open and express itself. It does, however, unfold to dark cherry, redcurrant, grilled herb, iron ore and candied orange peel. You need to give your glass a few extra vigorous swirls. Those rusty mineral notes build in intensity and drive the wine's medium-long finish." Wine Advocate
"A taut, structured Barolo, offering aromas and flavors of plum and cherry fruit shaded by accents of tobacco, iron, green tea and leafy underbrush. This is firm and gains power on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Vietti owns two hectares in Lazzarito, a stunning amphitheatre facing southwest on clay-limestone soil. Planted to about 4,500 plants per hectare, the vines here have an average age of 38 years. Sweet, filigreed notes of cinnamon, strawberry candy and violet unfold in the glass. The attack is polished, with ripe, crunchy tannins. The austerity of Serralunga here becomes density and volume, kept lively by lifted acidity and finishing with liquorice root and cinnamon. Perfect balance and great elegance. This will develop more complexity with ageing." Decanter
"Vietti's 2017 Barolo Lazzarito is absolutely gorgeous. Whatever the challenges of the growing season, they appear to have been no problem here. More than anything else, the Lazzarito impresses with its magnificent depth and stature. Super-ripe red fruit, white pepper, mint, tobacco, cured meat, spice and rose petal open gradually with time in the glass. I would not be in a rush to open bottles anytime soon. The Lazzarito has been one of the most improved wines at Vietti for a number of years. The 2017 is so captivating." Vinous
"This is very chewy and powerful with lots of velvety tannins that are firm and intense. It’s full and flavorful with strawberries and tar. Bark undertones. Flavorful finish. Needs time to soften." James Suckling

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep, full red with a fine sheen. The La Morra edition from Vietti's famous Barolo family convinces with an impressive aroma of red berries, cherries, wild herbs, mint, minerals and rose petals, rounded off with a hint of blood orange. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Exciting and complex in the nose, shows notes of cardamom, some leather, then lots of plum and raspberry. Taut and gripping tannin on the palate dominates the course, fine raspberry fruit, unfortunately a bit brittle on the final." Falstaff
"The 2017 Barolo Brunate is a powerful, brooding wine. Huge dark fruit, leather, spice, menthol and dried herbs all build in a potent Barolo that is enshrouded by tannins. The 2017 is going to need quite a bit of time in the cellar. Today, it is very much a brooding powerhouse. Dark wild cherry, licorice, tar, menthol and spice take shape in the glass, but the 2017 is clearly an infant, and an unruly one at that." Vinous
"A release of 4,981 bottles, the Vietti 2017 Barolo Brunate is beautifully rich and fleshed out, with balanced fruit weight and inner structure. The bouquet reveals tart cherry and cassis, but the Brunate also shows a more delicate side, with crushed flowers, dried violet and polished stone. The power of this cru creeps up on the palate, where you feel the tightness of its fiber and tannins. Following that delicate aromatic preface, this Barolo ultimately delivers a strong, cellar-worthy performance." Wine Advocate
"A ripe, fleshy style, offering plum, cherry, leather, menthol and iron aromas and flavors. Hints of rose and strawberry peek through as this builds to the long finish. There are formidable tannins too, yet they remain civilized and should allow this to develop nicely over time." Wine Spectator
"Beautiful, sweet fruit and perfumes on the nose with fresh flowers, such as roses. Full-bodied with fine, dusty tannins and a long, persistent finish. Very caressing. Builds on the palate at the end." James Suckling

Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Lazzarito impresses every year by its precision and class - two characteristics that are not often found in the Nebbiolo of the Serralunga region. Iron, smoke and white pepper flow into the nose, in the glass these impressions are extended by a touch of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange. Viettis Lazzarito always stands for strength and finesse and has been in no way inferior to his "colleagues" from Ravera and Rocche for quite some time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Dark and brooding nose of great depth. Generous and mouth-filling fruit and plenty of acidity adding freshness. A big layer of finely stitched tannins adds structure to the ripe fruit. Concentrated and deep." Jancis Robinson
"This powerful expression of an important Serralunga vineyard is aged both in barriques and large casks. It's deep in colour and shows lush, meaty aromas that at present lack finesse. It's very opulent and savoury on the palate, assertive without being astringent, and has imposing balance and length." Decanter
"The 2015 Barolo Lazzarito is one of the highlights in this range from Vietti. The power and gravitas of Serralunga come through loud and clear in a deep, beautifully resonant Barolo loaded with character. Iron, smoke, sage, menthol, licorice and rose petal give the Lazzarito its beguiling aromatic complexity. The massive tannins need time to soften, but there is a lot to look forward to once that happens." Vinous
"Rich and multifaceted, sporting cherry, raspberry, green tea, iron and tobacco flavors. The sweet fruit is matched to firm, dense tannins and the finish turns austere for now. Everything is in the right proportions, but patience is required." Wine Spectator
"This is a very youthful Barolo that has attractive, fragrant perfume with freshly picked roasting herbs and a strong, central thread of ripe cherries and red plums. The pure and concentrated palate frames intense plum and cherry flavors in long, unwavering tannins that deliver rich, strong and seamless into the finish. Exceptional quality and built for aging." James Suckling
"Opening to a beautifully floral bouquet, the 2015 Barolo Lazzarito delivers fragrant tones of violets, wild rose and a touch of orange blossom. As is the norm at Vietti, I tasted this wine and then wrote this review based on impressions gained from two samples—one opened several hours before my tasting and one opened at the moment of my review. Those floral notes came forth with increased intensity and clarity in the bottle that had been opened longer. The bouquet continues to surprise with touches of black fruit and freshly milled white pepper. However, like many wines from Serralunga d’Alba, this expression from Lazzarito reveals a pretty inner paradox. Those ethereal and balsamic aromas cede to a dense and rich mouthfeel, characterized by structure and power. Those two sides of the wine reach beautiful parity and lasting harmony." Wine Advocate

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Viettis Ravera is one of the great stars of Piedmont in its precision and structure. Rose petals, chalk, pepper and a hint of pomegranate make this Barolo one of the most sought-after appellations every year. With a little storage maturity, the strong tannins give way to an elegant appearance that does not deviate one millimetre from the coveted style of this large site. A monument to Barolo, which apart from Vietti and Giacosa, only a few other Piedmontese winegrowers bring into the bottle with such consistency! SUPERIORE.DE
"This red is full of sweet ripe plum, cherry and tar flavors, accented by tobacco and underbrush notes. Thick, dusty tannins coat the gums and put a clamp on the finish for now, but this shows potential." Wine Spectator
"The beautifully fragrant roses are impossible to resist. This oozes charm. Also, there are red cherries, cocoa powder and an array of wild herbs in the mix. The palate has toned yet muscular tannins that build nicely to deliver a concentrated core of ripe red-cherry flavor that holds long, fresh and youthful. Great Barolo." James Suckling
"The 2015 Barolo Ravera is once again the head of the class at Vietti. Bright, sculpted and wonderfully nuanced, the Ravera is very pretty. Floral aromatics and the pointed, brilliant fruit that is such a Ravera signature are very much in evidence. Hints of blood orange, mint, crushed rocks and flowers add shades of complexity as the 2015 gradually opens up in the glass. This is one of the finer wines of the year. Don't miss it!" Vinous
"Starting off a bit shy and closed at first, the 2015 Barolo Ravera showed noticeably better in the sample that had been opened a few hours prior to my arrival at the winery for my annual visit. This makes perfect sense as Vietti’s wines are intentionally slow at first but are built to endure the long haul. From the Novello township, this vineyard site is recognized for it power, structure and the uniquely broad approach it shows to the palate. There is a larger span of black fruit at its core. The positioning of the Ravera cru means it is open to the elements and the cold air from the Alps, and the wines result in freshness and mineral character as well. Luca Currado describes a salty, anchovy-like aroma that does indeed appear. Otherwise, this wine shows tightly polished and glossy tannins." Wine Advocate

“Tignanello” Toscana IGT 2021 · MAGNUM in OWC
Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico on the gentle hills between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers and comprises 319 hectares of land, of which around 130 are planted with vines. The estate's vineyards include two jewels: Tignanello and Solaia, which are located on the same hill, on calcareous and schistose marl soils of marine origin from the Pliocene, and which benefit from warm days and fresh nights during the growing season. Two wines are produced from these vineyards, which many years ago had the potential to become the starting point of the Italian wine renaissance. Nothing has changed to this day.
Tignanello is more classic than ever in the excellent year 2021. The tried-and-tested blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc comes to the fore with impressive clarity and attention to detail. The fruitiness of the wine is perfectly controlled and polished, there is no exaggeration, no excesses and no loose ends. The result is precise and sophisticated, especially considering the handling of the tannins (aged for up to 17 months in new and used Hungarian and French oak) and the quality of the elegant mouthfeel. With time in the glass, all the elements come together to form a perfect unity and balance. Simply put: a great wine! SUPERIORE.DE
"The currants and spices are very pretty, with some hazelnut undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very structured for a Tignanello, with medium chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very polished and curated with a deft winemaking hand coming through." James Suckling
"Laced with pure cherry, strawberry, graphite and tobacco aromas and flavors, this red is beautifully supported by a backbone of vibrant acidity and taut, refined tannins. Everything is framed by vanilla and toasty oak in the best sense, revealing harmony, with a long, orange-tinged finish and, yes, even drinkability at this stage. Best to give this a few more years in the bottle." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Tignanello is just as impressive in the bottle as it is in the barrel and shortly after bottling. Silky and polished, with exceptional finesse, the 2021 has what it takes to become a modern benchmark for Tignanello and Italian wine in general. Bright dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco rise from the glass, framed by a subtle hint of French oak that gives the wine race. In some vintages, the individual elements are clearly recognisable. In the 2021, it is the total harmony of the wine that leaves the strongest and deepest impression. Outstanding." Vinous
"This legendary Italian wine, which was first produced in 1971, is now celebrating its 50th birthday. Happy birthday, Tignanello! The Marchesi Antinori 2021 Tignanello (made from 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc) makes everyone's heart beat faster. The wine shows a thoroughly pretty flavour profile with aromas of tart fruit, redcurrants, tea leaves, roses, crushed white pepper, liquorice, nutmeg, cloves and chopped mint. It opens slowly to reveal more richness and exuberance over time, becoming downright lush and intoxicating a short time later. However, the through-line remains the bright freshness and minerality of the Sangiovese. Compared to the 2018 vintage (which I also liked very much), this vintage has more fruit weight and volume overall." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 1 articles per customer“Roccolo” Ludwig Barth von Barthenau Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
At the end of the 19th century Ludwig Barth, university professor with a love of wine, had built the estate of the same name in Mazon and planted the Pinot Noir vine there for the first time, with success, as it turned out. The year 2012 was very good for the Pinot Noir and the Roccolo vineyard at the Barthenau estate on the Mazon plateau. The grapes from vines over 70 years old, which are particularly rich in content and which are planted on the traditional pergola, should be reserved for a new top-quality wine. They were harvested separately, pressed separately and matured in small oak barrels and are only processed in the best vintages to the single vineyard wine "Roccolo".
It convinces with its supple, filigree acid structure, the backbone of every Burgundian. Martin Foradori's "Burgundy instinct" had shown him the right way, working until the late evening hours had been worthwhile. A top-class Pinot Noir now enriches the Pinot Noir range of the estate - from the outstanding location of the Mazon plateau. SUPERIORE.DE

Barolo “Campè" Riserva DOCG 2007 · MAGNUM in OWC
La Spinetta's Riserva from the Barolo single vineyard Campè is filled only in the best vintages and is sold exclusively in Magnum bottles. Bright bright red. In the nose a fascinating and constantly changing variety of, among others, liquorice, pipe tobacco, black fruits, cassis, tar, rose hip and dried herbs. On the palate with beguiling sweet, dark red fruit, in addition again fine notes of tobacco and herbal spice. Its silky, fine-grained tannins are precisely formed to carry the wine for many years to come. SUPERIORE.DE
"I tasted some beautiful Barbarescos before this sample, but the power and the vigor of the Barolo appellation comes through with undeniable clarity here. The 2007 Barolo Riserva Campè Vürsù (Magnum) is a wine of muscle, brawn and fortitude. It shows more textural tightness and density than the Barbarescos of the same vintage (also in magnum) that are softer and more streamlined in comparison. This gorgeous bottle opens to dark fruit, black currant, spice, cola and earthy truffle. Ultimately, this wine's most memorable quality is the velvety, tightly-knit nature of its mouthfeel." Barolo Torriglione DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
The Torriglione vineyard is a stone's throw away from Annunziata and the Barolo vineyard of the same name is not only released two years later than the other crus of the estate, but is also bottled exclusively in magnums. It first reveals its very own character with a noble reserve and reticence, and its density and complexity only give a flavour of what awaits Barolo lovers after a few minutes of aeration. Everything is in its place here and there is more than enough of it: freshness, fruit, acidity, tannin, and all of it paired with a finesse that is unrivalled and that one would rather expect to find in Burgundy or on the Etna. A wine that is undoubtedly one of those that you absolutely have to drink at least once in your life! SUPERIORE.DE
"A monolith for Roberto Voerzio: multi-faceted and spicy on the nose, beguiling dark fruit flavours; very vinous and drinkable on the palate despite all its power, the elegant final. Only available in large formats, including 857 Magnum." Vinum

Brunello di Montalcino “Poggio al Vento” Riserva DOCG 2015 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento from the dream 2015 vintage is dark, rich and seductive. It smells of ginger and hints of leather and tobacco before opening up further to reveal black cherry fruit and wild berries. Although cool and supple, it has a velvety texture that strikes a wonderful balance between the tart blackberries and exotic spices within. Its complexity is remarkable: sometimes sweet, sometimes sour, framed by youthful grippy tannins and hints of cranberries, spices and subtle saltiness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, powerful garnet red. Finely marked, fragrant nose with notes of cranberries, ripe dark cherries, some prunes and plenty of tobacco. Polished tannin on the palate, showing ripe fruit notes, with grippy tannin in many layers on the final." Falstaff
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. At first a tiny bit sweaty, then opening up to rich, focused cherry fruit. A palate of lush cherry fruit and sensationally balanced. The juicy fruit, lined with gravelly tannins, goes on and on." Jancis Robinson
"Lots of plum, toffee, floral and cherry aromas that follow through to a full body with ripe, round tannins that follow through to a long, gorgeous finish." James Suckling
"A powerful version, this red delivers concentrated plum, black cherry, iron and earth flavors allied to a base of muscular tannins. The balance tips to the astringent side, but it's not overbearing, with ripe fruit returning on the finish. Needs time and food." Wine Spectator
"Made with certified organic fruit, the Col d'Orcia 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento is open-knit and big both in intensity and mouthfeel. This full-bodied Riserva graces us with budding tertiary notes of tobacco and cured leather, but the ripe and fundamentally very rich fruit of this vintage remains firm at its core. You also get cola, licorice and grilled rosemary. This vineyard site sees ancient soils with an important component of well-draining sand, and this helps to concentrate flavors." Wine Advocate
"The darkly alluring 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento requires coaxing to unlock its aromatics from their youthful state. However, patience is rewarded, as crushed stones and ashen earth give way to red and black wild berries offset by hints of camphor and, finally, a note of sweet tobacco. Its textures are like pure silk draped across the palate, as a saturation of salty minerals settle in. Vivid notes of tart black cherry and an air of inner rose resonate throughout as fine tannins slowly clench the senses. The result is one of hulking structure yet also a potent staining of primary concentration; yet through it all, bright acids maintain supreme balance. Wow, the 2015 Poggio al Vento is a masterpiece in the making." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino “Chiuso del Lupo” DOCG 2018 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
Poggio Landi's top growth Chiuso del Lupo comes from a plot of one hectare at 550 m altitude. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, ageing is in 30 hl French oak barrels. Deep dark ruby red. On the nose, dark, earthy forest and undergrowth, plus ripe forest berries with menthol and floral accents. The sweet, lush fruit is accompanied by a salty note, the tannins are expansive but not aggressive, but youthful and chewy. A wine that is made for the long haul and whose future will be great. SUPERIORE.DE
"A juicy and succulent red with plum and berry character, along with orange peel and spice. Full-bodied with creamy tannins that coat the mouth. Lots of fruit, but attractive firmness and brightness." James Suckling
"This red wine is rich, round and fruity, offering aromas of black cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants and spices. It shows a solid tannin structure, yet remains balanced and leaves the impression of ripe fruit." Wine Spectator
"Here is a new addition to the Poggio Landi portfolio, representing a small production of 6,000 bottles. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Chiuso del Lupo is pressed from a one hectare parcel at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level and is a true delight and the proverbial diamond in the rough. The high altitude vines on the silty, clay-limestone Alberese soils really make the difference. The wine opens with a rich ruby colour that is vibrant and bright. The bouquet offers candied cherry, lilac, blood orange, cola and sweet earth. It stays true to the grape variety and offers added concentration, depth and complexity as it progresses. The wine finishes with soft, silky tannins. This wine is one of the great discoveries of the vintage." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 · 6 bottles in OWC
Every year, Renieri conjures up a lush and fruit-driven Brunello in the glass, bursting with freshness, brightness and balsamic-aromatic intensity. Its grapes come from a small, nine-hectare parcel with chalky clay soils. It offers powerful cherry and blackberry aromas with delicate spice, smoke and blue flowers. The wonderfully balanced acidity pushes this showpiece wine into a seemingly endless final. Completely successful! SUPERIORE.DE
"The Renieri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino embraces freshness, vibrant fruit and punchy sour cherry aromas. In fact, I am surprised by the ethereal and light quality of this wine, given the hot vintage. This expression is redolent of earth, forest floor and garden roses. Some well-managed flavors of spice and toasted nut slip in gently at the end." Wine Advocate
"A fresh and balanced Brunello for the hot and dry 2017 vintage. It’s medium- to full-bodied with tight and polished tannins that are well-integrated and focused on the palate. Plenty of dark berry, black cherry and dry earth with some porcini mushroom. Fantastic for the vintage. Try after 2023." James Suckling

Barolo Bussia “Granbussia” Riserva DOCG 2012
The grapes for the Granbussia, which is only produced in the best years with just 3,000 bottles, come from the best and oldest vines of the Romirasco, Colonnello and Cicala vineyards. It remains in the cellar for at least 9 years before being put on sale. Finest nebbiolo nose with notes of anise, truffle, leather and wild berries. Warm and fine on the palate, it shows a terrific aroma and depth with all its freshness. This wine has to be experienced and it is very difficult to describe it in all its parts. For us, it is one of the greatest Barolos of the entire appellation, along with Villero by Vietti and Vite Talin by Sandrone. SUPERIORE.DE
"The earthy, woodsy aromas show some evolution in this red, with just a hint of white truffle, yet there's still a hefty dose of spicy oak to be resolved. Rich and sumptuous midpalate, showing plum, cherry, tar and tobacco flavors shaded by vanilla and toasty spices, with firm, dusty tannins laying a grip on the long finish." Wine Spectator

Barolo “Ornato” DOCG 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Barolo Ornato is a great wine every year. It captures the true character of Serralunga with its wild herbs, minerals and ferruginous notes. Its bouquet shows small berry fruits and cassis, framed by gravel, forest floor, blue flowers and candied orange peel. The wine also has a dusty, mineral note and is intense on both the nose and palate. Ornato sets in with finely integrated tannins and an acidity that sustains all these fruit flavours. A wine that is consistently vertical, straightforward and frontal. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully fragrant, subtle bouquet with notes of freshly pressed pomegranate, redcurrant and heart cherries, again some blood orange. More elegant, clearly more compact and multi-layered palate than the two predecessors, simply has more density and power, but remains elegant and enormously juicy, immensely polished tannin, absolutely coherent, shows ripe fruit, fine melting." Weinwisser
"Medium ruby red with orange reflections. Beautiful, open and ripe cherry aroma with minerals and a hint of liquorice and lots of depth. Generous, supple fruit with gripping tannins that form a real unit. Great length with lots of powdery tannins, juice and grip. Simply irresistible, but might be too austere for most palates at the moment." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Barolo Ornato reveals some very distant hot season aromas, vaguely reminiscent of dried raspberries or stewed plums. The Nebbiolo is very sensitive to the warmer temperatures and even a hint of extra ripeness is easy to detect. However, the wine is fluid and constantly evolving. The fruit-driven aromas soon turn into a brooding complexity with smoke, tar and liquorice. The Ornato paints a broad picture of the intensity typical of Serralunga d'Alba." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barolo Ornato is sombre, brooding and quite self-contained. There is a lot of aromatic and flavour complexity, but the fruit is very much in the background. It will be interesting to see if the 2018 emerges or if it remains rather compact as it is today. There is a good amount of density and power behind all the tannin. Hints of blood orange, crushed raspberry, rose petal and cinnamon linger on the super classy finish." Vinous
"Spicy, with notes of white pepper, cumin, fennel seed and minerals framing a core of preserved plums and cherries. Dense, viscous and lively, balanced and expressive. It finishes with excellent length and power." Wine Spectator
"Pio Cesare owns most of Ornato, which lies between Briccolina and Falletto. The Serralunga character is particularly typical here, with fruits of wild strawberries and cherries combined with rhubarb and minerality. The attack is silky, with great concentration and savouriness, woven acidity and refined tannins through to the lingering finish." Decanter
"Complex on the nose, with a mix of ripe red berries, nutty minerals, orange peel and spices. Also some spicy, almost meaty notes. Full, compact and intense, but very graceful on the palate thanks to the fine tannins. Very polished and promising. Stylish. Still needs some time. Try it from 2025." James Suckling
"From Cascina Ornato, Pio Cesare's first cru, first produced in 1985, a Barolo of power and structure. On the nose blackcurrant, notes of liquorice and peony. The mouthfeel has spicy, salty tannins and a finish with notes of liquorice and small black fruits. Long lasting." Luca Gardini

Barolo del Comune di La Morra DOCG 2019 · 6 bottles in OWC
The grapes for Roberto's "entry-level Barolo" come from four of his best vineyards, which are harvested a few weeks earlier than those reserved for his Grand Crus. It is also the most balanced of his Barolo wines, even if the fruit and acidity are anything but restrained, but the proportions are just right here. The structure is great, its length and elegance inspiring - the refined layered components such as raspberry, cherry and its subtle salty vein make it without doubt one of the most serious wines of the entire appellation - a real Voerzio for comparatively little money. "A fine and straightforward red with dark berries, bark, mushrooms and a hint of dried spices. Firm and racy tannins and a flavourful finish. Dried orange peel. Needs four or five years to mellow." James Suckling
"Refined nose, notes of red blackberry in jam, then star anise, touches of red orange and rosehip. The mouthfeel is taut, complex and intense, with salty tannins and a fruity-spicy return." Luca Gardini
