SUAVIA | "Selezione Vini Vulcanici I Luoghi" Soave Classico DOC 2020

Forget everything you previously thought about Soave wines. In addition to the outstanding qualities that have been produced for many years, a new elite of white wines is being created in some wineries that are putting an entire region in a new light. And with their precise, mineral and expressive white wines, they need not fear international comparison!

One of these lighthouse wineries with a special affinity for the terroir is Suavia. The term Suavia is the ancient name for the famous wine village of Soave. This name alone recognises the traditional ties between the Tessari family and their northern Italian homeland. On twelve hectares of vineyards, the sisters Alessandra, Meri and Valentina cultivate exceptional wines with great passion for the region, which reflect the terroir precisely and perfectly.

Speaking of precision: the "Selezione Vini Vulcanici I Luoghi" project is only being released in an edition of 500 bottles per set of 3 and vintage. The three Soave Classico DOC wines contained in this set are therefore extremely limited each year and embody a wonderful wine journey through the volcanic terroir of the Soave Classico region

There are special places (Italian: luoghi) where the sun and wind behave in unusual ways, where the soil has a different colour and where the plants follow their own rhythm. The ancient Romans also knew this and believed that these places were alive, inhabited by a supernatural being, the "genius loci", which determined their character. The three new vineyards of Soave Fittà, Castellaro and Tremenalto are among them: These are places that have always been considered particularly suitable for viticulture in the Soave Classico region due to their unique soil composition and microclimate. So much so that they have now been officially recognised and included in the production regulations as "UGA" (Unita Geografiche Aggiunte - Additional Geographical Unit).

The three Tessari sisters recognised the potential of their volcanic soils in the Soave Classico region early on. For many years, their wines have been among the best that the region produces every year. In recent years, they have identified three small parcels, from which three single-varietal Garganega wines are now being sold for the first time in the 2020 vintage: Fittà, Castellaro and Tremenalto Soave Classico DOC 2020. They have all been vinified in the same way, but each embodies the differences of the respective terroir and microclimate and at the same time the richness and diversity of the volcanic soils formed over 20 million years ago. SUPERIORE.DE
