Our latest newcomer is not only an absolute insider tip for fans of the Cabernet Franc grape variety, which is rare in Italy, but also sets new architectural standards: the new building of the 10-year-old winery in Bolgheri, not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea, will open this year. It was planned into an old disused quarry and thus sets completely new standards in terms of sustainability. Tenuta di Meraviglia is owned by the Argentinean entrepreneurial family Bulgheroni, who already own Dievole in Chianti Classico, Le Colonne in Bolgheri and the two Montalcino vineyards Poggio Landi and Podere Brizio.
In the immediate vicinity of the Tuscan archipelago, in Bolgheri, the vineyards stretch picturesquely towards the sea. Almost exclusively Cabernet Franc thrives on 34 hectares, supplemented by a few parcels of Vermentino, which benefits from the sandy soil conditions as well as the lava rock typical of the region, the so-called volcanic rocks of San Vincenzo. The different plots are harvested and vinified separately in order to emphasise the uniqueness of each individual site.
This not only sounds like passionate work, but also guarantees impressive wines. We hope you enjoy discovering this winery, which is certainly still considered an insider tip, and then tasting the magnificent collection. SUPERIORE.DE
