“Poggio alle Gazze dell’Ornellaia” Toscana Bianco IGT 2022 · MAGNUM in OWC
Poggio Alle Gazze is a very elegant Sauvignon Blanc with a large addition of Vermentino and small amounts of Viognier, Verdicchio and Semillon. Fabulous flavours of flowers, pineapple, peach and a little mint. Refined and expressive on the palate, well-structured and wonderfully long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, medium straw yellow with light golden reflections. Intense and present on the nose of elderflower, sage, citrus and pineapple. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate with beautiful freshness, present fruit, slightly salty notes and good tension." Falstaff
"The 2022 Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia, composed of 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 37% Vermentino, 6% Viognier, 2% Verdicchio and 2% Semillon, is fragrant and fresh with aromas of lemongrass, sweet sage, honey and green apple floating high in the glass. Pretty mineral notes of flint and gravel round it off. A tart, beautifully drinkable white wine." Wine Advocate
"Expressive aromas and flavours of elderflower, passion fruit, gooseberry and chives combine with the silky texture of this balanced and seamless white wine, which has floral and grapefruit accents on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2022 Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia is a very pretty, harmonious white. Soft contours wrap around a core of lemon peel, sage, tomato leaf, mint and varietal Sauvignon notes. Airy and impeccable in its balance, the Poggio alle Gazze is a winner." Vinous
"Lots of sliced grapefruit with lemon peel and aniseed. Medium body. Lively. Shows beautiful brightness." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Pianrosso” DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
Pianrosso comes from a south-western site of the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone at an altitude of about 300 m with mainly Galestro soils. It opens the pleasure cinema with a rich, sparkling garnet red. The bouquet is seductive and deep with hints of dark and black fruits, sage, rose petals and violets. On the palate, there is a distinct salty-fresh minerality, which soon enters into a wonderful harmony with the fine-grained tannins and the perfectly layered fruit, leading the wine powerfully with optimal balance into a soft, hardly ending finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant wine that smells of berries, leather and tobacco; the tannins finely chiselled yet long-lasting, the acidity well integrated, the finish seductively long on notes of ripe forest fruits and balsamic notes. Of Burgundian elegance." Vinum
"The Cru wine is a selection of the best vines and is also one of the best Brunelli this year. The wines benefit from well-draining Galestro soils. Immensely complex and multi-faceted, it beguiles with redcurrants, fresh ethereal spicy notes reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs, plus mineral-salty hints as well as floral nuances (rose petals, violet blossoms). Finesse-rich palate with fresh, juicy fruit, very cleverly arranged, skilfully framed by fine polished, noble tannin, very elegant style, with ethereal spicy notes on the long final." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, medium dense ruby garnet. Finely marked nose with notes of wild raspberries, ripe, small plums, some cardamom and rose petals. Round and supple on the attack, showing plenty of sweet melt, lots of raspberry, opens up on the back end with fine meshed, slightly grippy tannin, savoury, slight bitterness on the final." Falstaff
Both 2018 wines from Ciacci Piccolomini offer a "deliciousness" of flavour and a true Umami quality, but the Pianrosso selection offers greater Brunello satisfaction. This not quite 12 hectare, iron-rich marl vineyard has had just enough warmth to make its southern origins clear. It has more shape, form and depth that give it staying power. Iron and salty minerals emerge against a backdrop of persimmon and hibiscus, finishing with Mediterranean herbs. The soft, sandy tannins are smooth and yielding, giving the wine a complex texture and immediate drinkability." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso opens in the glass with dark aromas of crushed plums and black cherries, accompanied by notes of rosemary, spiced citrus peel and a hint of cocoa. This is a particularly racy style for Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, with cool mineral tones and zesty acidity driving the ripe berry fruit and hints of sour citrus across the palate. Although structured, it finishes with tremendous energy and freshness, leaving a bitter hint of balsamic spice in the mouth. The 2018 may not have the power often associated with Pianrosso, but it impresses with its lively and spicy character." Vinous
"A complex red wine with dark, spicy notes of liquorice, eucalyptus and tobacco that combine with cherry and berry flavours. Juicy, with a slightly viscous texture, with wild herb and iron elements creeping in on the long finish. Power meets grace." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino produces beautiful results if you choose to drink it now, or if you cellar it a little longer. It offers immediate intensity and complexity with a red and purple berry fruit attack that follows tarry spices, campfire ash, liquorice and rusty nails. These Savoyard tones are balanced with the wine's elegant, medium-weight finish. And the tannins are seamlessly integrated. The winemaking team has done a good job in a difficult vintage." Wine Advocate
"This wine is so complex, with citrus and herbal notes underpinning the blue and red berry fruits. Thyme, sage and lavender, but also mocha and cloves. Full-bodied, full of depth and intensity, with firm but seamless tannins. Develops into espresso. Balanced, powerful and very long. Taste after 2025." James Suckling
"A certainty of appellation for the Bianchini family vineyard, just a few steps from Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Very multi-faceted nose, redcurrant, then marjoram and iodine touches, like Taggiasche olives. The sip is juicy, with a fruity-officinal finish and very long reverberation." Luca Gardini

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in gift box
Initially youthfully reserved, it needs to be "coaxed" to reveal its aromas of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, underscored by a hint of fresh mint. Impressive on the palate with a blend of sweet spices, lush ripe wild berries and a silky texture balanced by lively acidity and a pleasantly bitter hint of dark chocolate towards the finish. Finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a layer of fine-grained tannins that saturate and promise many years of positive development. Allegrini has hit the bull's eye with this wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour with a violet shimmer. Inviting aroma of ripe blackberries, cherries and sweet tobacco on the nose. A finesse-rich acidity on the palate, precise fruit flavours paired with spicy notes, finely integrated tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"Aromas of plums and black cherries, which fade into notes of black tea, violets and savoury spices. The palate is balanced and highlights both fruity and non-fruity flavours in equal measure. Black and red berries share the stage with notes of espresso, aniseed, dried leaves and limestone. Fine tannins and an expressive acidity make this wine a flagship." Wine Enthusiast
"The Allegrini 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a classic profile for air-dried fruit made with appassimento. A hint of candied cherry adds lift and intensity to the bouquet, which is otherwise characterised by heavier tones of black fruit, candied cherry, red liquorice and sweet earth or potting soil. It finishes with a balanced, full-bodied style." Wine Advocate
"On the one hand a modern interpretation of Amarone, on the other hand dense, fresh and alpine in flavour, full of alpine herbs and spruce sap. Bitter cocoa, ground espresso and the usual pithy tannins of dried grape skins, menthol and black liquorice. Immense, powerful and fresh." James Suckling
"A cool, damp vintage that has given this Amarone a balsamic, leafy character without losing any of its concentration. Rich and lively, it opens with flavours of mint chocolate, coffee and black pepper, while a background of woody tannins supports creamy black and purple fruits. The good acidity softens the richness and the final is characterised by red and blue berries and a leafy note." Decanter
"The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is youthfully restrained and needs coaxing to reveal its aromas of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, underscored by a hint of fresh mint. It impresses with a blend of sweet spices, lush ripe wild berries and a silky texture balanced by lively acidity and a pleasantly bitter hint of dark chocolate towards the finish. The wine finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a layer of fine-grained tannins that saturate and promise many years of positive development. Allegrini has really hit the bull's eye with this wine. Wow." Vinous
"A classic of the type, a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta, aged for 120 days, then 18 months in barriques, black cherry in alcohol on the nose, fresh pepper leaf, peony and nutmeg. Iodised salt on the palate, with a fruity-balsamic finish and a spicy aftertaste." Luca Gardini

“Selezione Sergio Zenato” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOC 2006
The showpiece of the Zenato winery from the terrific year 2006 with a perfect balance between expressiveness, elegance and almost infinite length. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is a real beauty, with huge intensity and loads of deep chocolate fudge, black cherry, cola, barbecue and black licorice flavors. It manages contrasting tones of sweet versus savory that pleasure the tastebuds. The palate is rich, smooth and superconcentrated." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato wraps around the palate with layers of mocha, espresso, Morello cherries, spices, mint and new leather. It is a wonderfully plush, expressive wine loaded with aromatic and flavor complexity. There is plenty of inner perfume and sweetness, but what impresses most is the wine's sense of structure and length. Darker notes flesh out on the finish adding a baritone register to the fruit that is highly appealing. This is a fabulous showing from Zenato." Wine Advocate
"Incredible nose of wet earth, spices, dark chocolate and blueberries. Stunning. Full body, with superfine tannins and polished texture. Balance and harmony. Better in three or four years." James Suckling

“Boca” Rosso Boca DOC 2012 · MAGNUM
Boca 2012 is always a very harmonious, great wine and this year close to perfection. Balsamic notes on the nose, surrounded by a distinctive scent of small red berries and Amarena cherries. Very powerful in the mouth with a wonderfully stable acidity, which provides an irrepressible freshness. The primary aromas are dominated by blackberries, blackcurrants and ripe cherries. Smooth and powerful as it progresses, its sensory harmony as well as its potential are more than convincing.
The grapes for Christoph Künzli's top wine come from the best small vineyards of the Boca DOC. The soils there consist of humus-poor porphyry of volcanic origin with a light red colour and are rich in salts and minerals. This minerality of the soils and the distinctive structure and class of the Nebbiolo grape combine in the winery's flagship to create an expressive, brilliant dream of a wine that has long enjoyed cult status among connoisseurs. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2012 Boca is immediately open and accessible. The bouquet is perfumed and floral with rose potpourri, lavender and rose hip. There is a slightly dry and perhaps more evolved quality to the inner fruit on hand with sun-dried cassis or cranberry. Pretty background tones of smoke, ash and tar add to the overall complexity of the aromas." Wine Advocate
"The 2012 Boca is fabulous. Rich, ample and deep, the 2012 offers a level of pure immediacy that, while not typical of this wine, does mean that the 2012 will drink well with only minimal cellaring. Even so, I expect the 2012 will age beautifully because of its palate density and weight. Wild cherry, sweet tobacco, licorice, smoke and underbrush build into the powerful finish. As always, the Boca presents slightly darker shades of Nebbiolo." Vinous

“Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Monteverro - a classic French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - is a great cru from the Maremma and is bursting with opulence and diversity. Rich, dark ruby colour with a black core. Incredibly rich in dark fruit flavours, chocolate and spices, soft, full body, polished tannins. It is impossible to exaggerate the joy of the magnificence of this wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, dark ruby colour with a fine violet sheen. Finely characterised nose, fragrant, opens with notes of mint and eucalyptus, then lots of fresh plums and black currants, some blueberries. Lots of juicy dark berry fruit on the palate, savoury, gripping tannins, still needs time." Falstaff
"Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot in a harmonious blend: exquisite berry and floral aromas on the nose. Sandalwood, spices and more; complex, dense attack, the acidity and silky tannins in perfect balance, then very fresh with salty-mineral nuances, the final opulent and yet full of elegance. Great." Vinum
"The organically grown Monteverro 2019 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot from a vintage that shows natural concentration and richness from the start. The bouquet is multi-layered with ripe fruit, blackberry jam, oak spice and leather. It is a very oak-heavy wine with a soft finish and a hint of sweetness at the end." Wine Advocate
"This wine is so concentrated and powerful, with aromas of blackberries, black olives, chilli chocolate, bay leaves and peppercorns. Also some iodine. Full-bodied, yet agile and fresh, with a firm, taut tannin structure. Try from 2025 onwards." James Suckling
"Wow, what a knock-out. Leading with blue fruit aromatics, baking spices, and a full-bodied richness framed by sturdy, elongated, fine-grained tannins, with wild herb nuances, brown spices, sandalwood, and real restraint. This 2019 Montevewrro is built for long-term cellaring and is a masterpiece from consultant winemaker Jean Hoefliger." Decanter

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
Here comes the first vintage of the new Titolo Riserva, which will be bottled exclusively in 400 numbered magnum bottles and will thus hardly appear in the trade. A highly complex red with the scent of dried flowers, blackberry and crushed rock. The tannins are excellently integrated and this wine is already not only a coveted rarity, but a new star in the firmament of southern Italian wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"From magnum. Lustrous mid ruby. Cherry-laced palate with savoury, exotic, spice notes and liquorice. Gorgeous freshness and bite and length. Wonderful vibrant stuff." Jancis Robinson
"The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo Riserva takes things to a whole new level for Elena Fucci. It opens with an intense display of crushed cherry, exotic spices and sweet herbal tones; as the bouquet evolves, it gains haunting richness and a darker fruit profile with marine-tinged minerality and notes of lavender. Its silky textures coast along a medium-bodied framework, as a polished yet dense display of blackberry and currant gives way to saturating spice and a tightly wound web of tannin. This finishes long, intense and structured, leaving the palate drenched in black fruit concentrate, yet all lifted by residual acids. A stunning example of Aglianico and Vulture terroir." Vinous
"Here's a new discovery that I'd like to broadcast far and near. This Riserva is a new wine from Elena Fucci that was initiated with this vintage. It is a limited-edition wine made only in magnums. In fact, I tasted bottle number 1 of 400 made to write this review. The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo is a dark and savory expression with an evolved and profound bouquet that covers all the bases. It offers dried fruit and blackberry with smoke, ash and crushed river stone. That mineral identity is the wine's most important defining characteristic. Aglianico tends to deliver astringent tannins, but this Riserva shows excellent integration and structural management. A new benchmark wine for southern Italy has just been created." Wine Advocate

“Vigna Quintodecimo” Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2018
Luigi Moio is one of the most famous professors of viticulture and oenology in Italy and the Cru Vigna Quintodecimo is his red showpiece in the stable. This wine possesses a unique and seductive class, a richness and elegance that outshines the entire volcanic appellation. The initially restrained bouquet only gradually opens up in layers, releasing new impressions every minute. Violets, ripe blackberries, blueberry skins, plums and white smoke unfold like a surprise bag and are reflected in the energetic mouthfeel together with finely woven tannins and a fresh interplay of fruit and acidity. The texture is impressively silky and emphasises the tremendous elegance and harmony of this exceptional Aglianico, which will reach its most exciting phase in 10-15 years at the earliest. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Taurasi Vigna Quintodecimo 2018 is a deep purple colour in the glass. It smells of a sweet, tantalising blend of medicinal black cherries, cloves and dusty roses. The palate is more serene and refined than expected, and savoury too, with a savoury mix of blackberry and cocoa giving way to grippy tannins. The 2018 finishes structured and long, leaving a hint of primary concentration. It is surprisingly fresh and finishes with nuances of sage and lavender. Patience is needed for the 2018 to integrate its strong oak influence, but it will be worth the wait. The balance on the inside is exceptional." Vinous
"One of the region's headline wines, the Quintodecimo 2018 Taurasi Riserva Vigna Quintodecimo (with fruit from limestone soils) is gorgeous and makes a beautiful first impression. This was a cool and challenging growing season with rain at inopportune times followed by a hot summer; however, the talented team at this estate has navigated these obstacles brilliantly. Ripe blackberry and baked plum are framed by exotic spice, Spanish cedar and campfire ash. The tannins will soften with more bottle time, and this vintage remains quite tight and dense at this young stage. Give it time." Wine Advocate

Barolo Prapò DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Barolo Prapò comes from Serralunga d'Alba and is, as expected, the most powerful and structured of the various single-vineyard wines from this ambitious estate. At the same time, it is also the most closed at the beginning and, with its introverted nature, is made for a long ageing period. This site is one of the last where the grapes ripen, giving them plenty of time to develop slowly and carefully each year.
Bright, medium ruby-garnet colour. A potpourri of floral and spicy notes on the nose, plus some peach and strawberry. Very firm on the palate with initially sinewy Serralunga tannins and notes of iron, savoury, menthol, liquorice, lavender, preserved dark cherries and dried blackberries. With further aeration, an inspiring round and full mouthfeel emerges with such precise Nebbiolo stylistics that it is a joy to drink. Patience is required for this exceptional Barolo, which is guaranteed to be rewarded after a few more years of ageing in the bottle! SUPERIORE.DE
"Broad and dense, with plenty of power driving the cherry, raspberry, iron, stone and underbrush flavors. A bit closed at this stage, with the wall of stiff tannins leaving a strong grip on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The nose of this Prapò is very graceful - violets, cinnamon, almost sage and blood orange - and expresses all the elegance of Cerretta, to which this MGA is very similar. Refreshing and velvety, almost supple, it is a precise Barolo full of elegance despite a certain warmth in the dusty, intense finish." Decanter
"Soft and velvety, but very fine texture with a medium to full body. Open and juicy with strawberry and cherry character, as well as potpourri and sandalwood. Also roses. Best after 2026, but already very attractive and flattering on the palate." James Suckling
"Cru di Serralunga", a refined refinement that produces a very crisp fruit. Wild plum on the nose, then sage, toasted notes and floral nuances, gerbera. Spicy on the palate, with fruity hints and notes of medicinal herbs. Closes with spicy notes." Luca Gardini
"The Barolo Prapò 2019 is probably the finest Prapò I have ever tasted from Ceretto. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, rose petals, menthol, liquorice and spice are amplified in this broad, explosive Barolo. An enormous kick of Serralunga acidity and tannin emphasises the finish." Vinous
"Intense ruby colour with a slight garnet rim. Hints of black tea, some truffle, then lots of raspberry. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, shows plenty of present tannin, is very well integrated, flavours of plums and raspberries, fine melting in the final." Falstaff
"With aromas of dark cherries, preserved raspberries, cloves and dried roses, this wine floats from the glass with grace and class. The palate is firm and well-structured, with solid tannins and an energetic acidity that lifts the notes of mixed wild berries, tobacco and tea, finishing with a chalky minerality." Wine Enthusiast
"The organic Ceretto 2019 Barolo Prapò, whose fruit comes from Serralunga d'Alba, is a natural addition to a portfolio of wines representing some of the best cru sites in the appellation. This wine shows the particular power and fruit concentration for which this site is known, and also a lovely hint of sweetness with dried cherries and raspberries softening the mineral tones and ferrous flavours. This wine manages the balancing act between power and elegance - no easy feat." Wine Advocate

Caramel-coloured Vin Santo with intense aromas of toffee and dark chocolate, enriched by acacia honey and Mediterranean herbs. Notes of freesia, candied orange peel and French pastry. On the palate, this intriguing sweet wine reveals a blend of fig, almond and lemon flavours, followed by roasted coffee beans. The perfect balance between acidity and sweetness lead into a sensual finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Mahogany in colour. A fine patina in the fragrance, dried figs, maraschino cherry, coffee, caramel. Very viscous in the mouth, with concentrated grape aromas and at the same time with delicate notes of ageing, the silky sweetness is balanced by perfectly integrated acidity, dense and oily and yet animating, a stylistic masterpiece, matured à point." Falstaff
"The Vin Santo di Montepulciano 2001 (375 millilitres) is a divine and wonderfully delicious sweet blend of Trebbiano, Malvasia and Grechetto. The result is very concentrated and boiled down to a delicious reduction sauce. There are so many flavours to list, but among the most obvious are candied orange peel, almond marzipan, caramel, roasted coffee beans, vanilla bean, mocha, dark honey and fragrant yellow roses. The mouthfeel is creamy, rich and layered. Compared to the Occhio di Pernice, I recommend a slightly shorter drinking window here. But, the truth is: I have no idea. I'm pretty sure these wines will outlive anyone who has reached legal drinking age." Wine Advocate
"Thick in texture, with aromas and flavours of dried figs, espresso, macadamia nuts and sultanas. Intensely sweet, with lingering accents of leather and cigar. Despite its boisterousness, it remains balanced and finishes clean." Wine Spectator

“Tresette” Merlot Toscana IGT 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The name Tresette is derived from the fact that only 2,800 bottles of this single-varietal Merlot are produced each year and it is aged in three Liters French oak barrels. The grapes come from old vines on a plot 480 metres above sea level, and it is only vinified in the best years. Tresette is a cool, archetypal Merlot that is very elegant and unique in Tuscany and is entirely in keeping with the house style. Juicy blackberry flavours, clove, herbs and spices on the nose. Enveloped by supple tannins, this fresh red leads into a delicious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour. Notes of cherry, raspberry and sour cherry, with a hint of herbs and Mediterranean scrub. Deep and soft on the palate, with excellently integrated tannins and a spicy, fresh finish." Falstaff
"Violets, raspberries and passion fruit on the nose of this Tuscan Merlot join with savory notes of graphite, wet stone near a running stream, and black olives. Juicy fruit bursts through on the palate, offering cherry, strawberry and raspberry. Firm if forgiving tannins strike a tension between powerful and graceful." Wine Enthusiast
"The Riecine 2018 Merlot TreSette comes from a site with schistose galestro clay soils. This wine is dark and velvety in texture with dark fruit, spice and savory tones of dark cherry and plum. What stands out most in this Tuscan Merlot is the robust nature of the mouthfeel. This creative wine is made with early-ripening fruit from one of the wildest corners of the region." Wine Advocate

“Quarz” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2021 · MAGNUM
Named after the quartz speckles in the volcanic porphyry rock of Terlan, the most famous Sauvignon Bianco in Italy lives up to its name. Sparkling yellow-green in colour. Filigree, delicately scented with grapefruit, peach, honey and green papaya. Quartz is taut and precise, with a fleshy, creamy texture, great depth and a wonderful mineral-salty finish. Must have and must taste! SUPERIORE.DE
"Our Sauvignon selection, which has been given a truly characteristic name, is as filigree as the fine quartz crystals in Terlan's volcanic porphyry rock. The quartz is characterised by its fine texture and depth as well as a salty finish, which have now earned this fine white wine an international reputation." Rudi Kofler, Kellermeister Terlan
"Subtle grassy herbal notes lead to an expressive palate with lemon curd, guava and focussed mineral characters; refreshing and long." Decanter
"The flavours of melon, kiwi, Meyer lemon and notes of chive blossom and toast are very harmonious. A tantalising white that is skilfully knitted with razor-sharp acidity and salty minerality. It is long and creamy on the palate, with spice, mineral and herb accents on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Quarz is very seductive, with a rich blend of savoury herbs and grapefruit zest underscored by a cooling hint of white smoke. It is bold and smooth with a medium body and a pretty inner sweetness that borders on decadent but is balanced by an energising core of zesty acidity. Candied lemon and lime resonate, while hints of salty minerality and chalk dust provide a perfect contrast. Like most Quartz vintages, this wine will age well over the medium term. Nevertheless, there is no harm in enjoying it now in this wonderful primary state." Vinous
"The Sauvignon Quartz is a very exact and precise expression, with tropical tones, crushed stone, tomato leaves and green papaya. There is a hint of sweetness, like candied pineapple or mango ice cream. I have always felt a special connection with this wine. There's a hint of pulverised quartz stone on the finish." Wine Advocate
"A sophisticated Sauvignon with a complex and aromatic nose that offers notes of glazed citrus and stone fruit with honeysuckle and melon rind. The palate is full and structured with a lively acidity. Creamy with the texture of ripe nectarine and an exciting mineral finish." James Suckling
"Cantina Terlano's usual fascinating journey into the potential of Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose, cedar wood, lychee, a hint of nectarine, then a menthol note and cedar thyme. Dense, crisp and exciting on the palate, with a fruity, citrusy finish and a long aftertaste." Luca Gardini
"Bright, sparkling straw yellow colour. Very intense nose, rich aromas of dark redcurrants and elderflower, with a hint of tomato green, exciting. Also shows great flavour on the palate, lots of sage, salty, beautiful melting on the final, lingers for a very long time." Falstaff

The cru sites Liste, Terlo, Baudana, Gabutti, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi are the origins of the grapes for the terrificVia Nuova. It is a monumental, exciting wine that combines the best that the vintage had to offer. Explosive in the glass, with breathtaking aromatic depth, it is stunningly beautiful from the first sip. Dark macerated cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and rose petals are enhanced by the underlying acidity and tannin that give the wine its energy and drive. Via Nuova is a wine of exceptional harmony, purity and finesse with an everlasting finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny, lightening garnet red, light rim. Exceedingly fragrant nose of fresh roses, lots of raspberry and strawberry, a little candyfloss. Polished, finely meshed tannin, red berry fruit, tobacco on the final." Falstaff
"Fascinating aromatic complexity that keeps your nose hovering over the glass. Raspberries with ginger biscuits, flowers and a twist of basil. There’s a deeper layer of crushed goji berries and talc-like minerals, too. Full, intense, silky and dainty with well-integrated tannins that even add a chocolatey touch. So tempting to drink now, but better from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Via Nuova is marked by palpable brightness and tension that lend energy. Like all of these wines, the 2018 is restrained in feel, but all the elements are so well balanced. Freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed rocks, chalk and white pepper give the Via Nuova notable energy. Intense veins of supporting tannin and minerality provide the backbone." Vinous
"This is an organic blend of fruit from six MGA sites: Terlo and Liste (in Barolo), Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi (in Monforte d’Alba) and Gabutti and Baudana (in Serralunga d’Alba). The 2018 Barolo Via Nuova is fermented in steel and aged in oak according to time-tested local tradition. This mid-weight blended Barolo has a more prominent herbal or balsam signature at the back of red and purple fruits, licorice and pressed violet." Wine Advocate

Barolo Bussia DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Ceretto's Barolo Bussia comes from one of the most famous cru sites bordering the municipalities of Monforte d'Alba and Barolo, sourcing its Nebbiolo fruit from a 7,000 square metre plot in Bussia Soprana in Monforte d'Alba. Just 3,500 1/1 bottles and 200 magnums are bottled.
Sparkling, bright garnet red colour. On the nose, it seduces with delicate notes of wild berries, white cherry, liquorice and truffle. The palate is explosive, lively and full of energy. Its rich and lively flavours of cranberry and pomegranate are very finely elaborated, its sweetness in the middle of the palate and the fine creaminess and fine-meshed tannin, which is characteristic of the best Bussia-Barolos, are impressive. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. More concentration and depth with a clear, mineral core and concentrated but embryonic fruit. On the palate, a fantastic tannic centre with raspberry fruit wrapped in fine, firm tannins. Long and sensationally balanced." Jancis Robinson
"A fine and open Bussia with a smoky, grilled meat and spice character in the plum fruit. Medium to full body. Soft, velvety and juicy. This wine will develop into something very serious. Needs three or four years to open up. Best after 2025." James Suckling
"The Barolo Bussia 2019 is rich, deep and explosive, with all the profound, spicy and balsamic notes that are so typical of Bussia. Bussia is a broad, lush Barolo that is impressive from start to finish. All the elements are very well balanced. There is plenty of tannin, but it is well integrated into the wine. After some time in the glass, the wine reveals its inner perfume and explosive energy. This aromatically beguiling, multi-layered Barolo is magnificent." Vinous
"The Ceretto 2019 Barolo Bussia is an organic wine and a wine of beautiful depth and streamlined intensity. This Barolo offers aromas of dark fruit, but also of crushed stone, rust, a hint of exotic spices or grilled herbs and fresh liquorice root. The ensemble is beautiful, and what stands out most is the polished persistence and silky texture of the mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"Bright ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. Expressive and clear nose of raspberries, cedar wood and some cold smoke, with a candied citrus fruit finish. Compact and tightly woven on the palate, with great tension and rich pressure, lots of salt, great length!" Falstaff
"The elegant nose opens with pristine cherry aromas supported by subtle notes of clove, anise, rosewood and tea. The focused palate continues to highlight ripe cherries and evolves into savory elements. Well-crafted tannins and crunchy acidity give the wine vigor and lift. The wine is generous, rich and superbly balanced." Wine Enthusiast

Brunello di Montalcino “Le Lucére” Riserva DOCG 2018
Lucère Riserva 2018 pours out of the bottle with a deep, dark intensity. In the glass, it shows a dense extraction and deep concentration of dark fruits, cherry jam and blackberry jam. Black plum and dried fig also play a leading role, with a strong presence of exotic spices and savoury tobacco, with a dense and rich texture. Full body, fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. A fantastic Riserva with a wonderful balance and remarkable ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"The San Filippo 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva le Lucére opens with extra dark concentration and offers a multi-faceted bouquet that starts with a creamy note of Nutella or children's chocolate, but then quickly turns to iris root, clean earth, pencil shavings, liquorice root, dried cranberries and trail mix. The oak influences are strong, showing a hint of toasted coconut at one point, and the wine finishes with chalky tannins. It's very complex, and this is the best edition of this Riserva I've tasted so far." Wine Advocate
"Bright, generous, open aromas of raspberries, strawberry ice cream, mint and licorice. The attack is rich, with a full body, graphite minerality, great concentration and savory blood orange flavors in the finish. Very ripe, velvety, well-integrated tannins with crisp acidity." James Suckling

“Tignanello” Toscana IGT 2020
Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico on the gentle hills between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers and comprises 319 hectares of land, of which around 130 are planted with vines. The estate's vineyards include two jewels: Tignanello and Solaia, which are located on the same hill, on calcareous and schistose marl soils of marine origin from the Pliocene, and which benefit from warm days and fresh nights during the growing season. Two wines are produced from these vineyards, which many years ago had the potential to become the starting point of the Italian wine renaissance. Nothing has changed to this day.
Deep ruby red colour. Complex bouquet of ripe fruit such as cherry, strawberry and blackberry, with delicate hints of violet, mallow and rose in the background, followed by roasted coffee and some cocoa. Vibrant, full-bodied and very complex on the palate with primary fruit, elegantly integrated wood spice, pepper and liquorice. Tignanello 2020 is resonant, dense, breathtaking, almost regal. The balance and freshness of the vintage will ensure a promising further maturation and development towards even more finesse and elegance, which will certainly make this vintage one of the best in the long line-up of Tignanello vintages. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby colour with a delicate garnet rim. Very clear and precise on the nose, with a flavour of ripe, plump cherries and blackberries, plus delicate notes of chestnuts and blood oranges. Firm, savoury tannins characterise the palate, lots of juicy fruit, builds full-bodied." Falstaff
"A concentrated red wine with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, iron, tobacco and vanilla, framed by sweet spices and roasted flavours. It finishes with mouth-flattering tannins, but is quite balanced overall. Seductive and stylish." Wine Spectator
"The Tignanello 2020 shows a beautiful bouquet with an open-minded and accessible personality. Right away you can recognise dark cherries, dried raspberries, spices, toasted almonds and citrusy blood oranges. This vintage is very nice and will not require a long wait. The tannins are sweet and silky." Wine Advocate
"Delightfully approachable on the nose right away, with warm mocha notes and cool graphite aromas against bing and black cherries, and a palate that's equally outrageously delicious and easy to love even in its unbridled youth, with more cherries, blackberries, raspberries and chocolate inside a framework of tannins made to measure and acid built like an invisible force field." Wine Enthusiast
"The Tignanello 2020 is so original, so intensely fruity that it almost tastes like a barrel sample. A burst of red Sangiovese fruit opens first, followed by notes of blood orange, cinnamon, spices, dried flowers and mocha that develop later. With time in the glass, the impressive dimensions come to light. In 2020, the Tignanello is wonderfully supple and racy, with fine tannins lying beneath a core of bright, plastic fruit. The balance here is simply superb. I can't wait to taste the 2020 again as it ages." Vinous
"The ancestor of the Supertuscans in timeless form: Multi-faceted bouquet with aromas of black cherries, black pepper, orange zest and herbs; despite its youth, it has a cosy texture, tightly woven tannins, the acidity provides ageing potential, complex finish that tempts you to have another glass." Vinum
"Violets and lavender with dark fruits and a hint of dark chocolate. Sophisticated nose. Medium-bodied with a fine tannin structure that gives it finesse and beauty. It is very long and lingers for minutes. Precision. Drinkable now, but better in three or four years." James Suckling
"One of the first Italian brands with international appeal and at the same time a great terroir wine. Refined bouquet with notes of blueberry jam, undergrowth and black peppercorns, with a citrus-like finish. Salty on the palate, very persistent, fruity and spicy on the finish." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 6 articles per customerBarolo “Bricco delle Viole” DOCG 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Rose petals, spices and red-coloured fruit float in the glass, supported by fine, racy tannins. On the palate, the typical, medium-bodied characteristics of Bricco delle Viole are evident, while the contours are soft and the wine's personality demands the next sip. Vajra fans should give it a few more years to mature, despite its current accessibility. SUPERIORE.DE
"Beguiling aromas of stone fruit, dried flowers and tobacco; harmonious, albeit still very youthful structure, the tannins as if chiselled from stone, great length. Excellent food companion that impresses with its wealth of finesse." Vinum
"Rich fruit and flowers with real spread across the palate. Impressive. Polished leather and liquorice. Dry, but not too dry, finish. Very fine and fresh. To bite into." Jancis Robinson
Bricco delle Viole is the vineyard that has taught us patience and naturally defines the style of our craft," says Aldo Vaira about this MGA. Graceful and austere at the same time, it has sweet violet and pomegranate flavours, restrained in style but not without complexity in depth. The attack is firm, with steely acidity and very austere tannins on the gums, dusty and muscular. It will soften as it matures in the bottle." Decanter
"Flavours of gravel, flowers and berries merge into a medium to full body with firm and velvety tannins and a juicy finish. It is very original now and needs time to develop in the bottle." James Suckling
"Bright ruby-garnet colour with a subtly brightening rim. Somewhat restrained on the nose, a little sealing wax after aeration, raspberries, fine earthy notes, cranberries. Creamy entry on the palate, but immediately shows power and muscle, plenty of complex tannins, savoury, deep, powerful." Falstaff
"A juicy Barolo with lively acidity and a fluid profile that exudes aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries, mown hay, minerals and eucalyptus. Taut yet long, with outstanding potential." Wine Spectator
"The Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2019 offers a beguiling combination of depth and energy. Dark and strong in the glass, but also quite restrained, the 2019 will need a few more years to unfold. Black cherry, graphite, crushed rocks, mint, sage and incense open up in the glass, but only with some restraint. I particularly like the way the 2019 opens up in its sonorous, extended finish, but it remains a decidedly brooding Barolo whose best days are still far in the future." Vinous
"Lifted aromas of crushed cherries and raspberries mixed with blue violets and savory spice on the nose. Super-fine tannins with crushed chalk; very floral with a bright and lifted palate. Mouth-watering acidity. Alluring, captivating, energetic and precise." Wine Enthusiast
"With its high altitude in the hills west of Barolo, Bricco delle Viole is a world apart in terms of soils (with marl and fossils from Sant'Agata) and even harvest times. Slow and careful ageing, typical of the 2019 vintage, gives it a very delicate and ethereal expression with floral notes, wild mint and liquorice. This organic wine is solid in composition and structure." Wine Advocate
"A great classic of elegance, on the nose notes of red raspberries and clementine peel, a hint of nutmeg and wild iris. On the palate, it is juicy and exciting, with a return of red fruits and spicy notes. It finishes with a floral hint." Luca Gardini

"From the very first moments of fermentation of this wine, we realise every year that we are dealing with a very high expression of Nebbiolo. The MGA Albesani is a very beautiful vineyard in the municipality of Neive with ideal exposure and perfect altitude. From there comes a rich, elegant, sometimes austere wine that combines its great appeal with excellent ageing potential." Franco Massolino
Barbaresco Albesani shows all the breadth and resonance so typical of this famous hillside vineyard in Neive. Red-purple fruits, spices, rose petals, lavender, menthol and liquorice develop with a little time in the glass. Bright acids and lively tannins give this classic, inviting Barbaresco from Massolino plenty of energy and stamina. SUPERIORE.DE
"Freshly mown hay and green tea accents frame cherry, strawberry and white pepper flavors in this sleek yet dense red. Overall, this remains balanced and elegant, with a beam of fruit persisting on the aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Exciting and racy red fruits with dried herbs and hibiscus with undertones of nutshells. Clean and lively on the palate with medium body and compact, ripe tannins that give the wine a firm and long mouthfeel. Velvety finish. Attractive already, but even better from 2025." James Suckling
"The Massolino 2020 Barbaresco Albesani from the village of Neive shows more balance at this young age than the winery's classic Barbaresco. This single-vineyard wine also has more depth with nuances of dark berries, cassis, blue flowers and crushed limestone. The floral aromas emerge with beautiful intensity. The wine's tannins are very fine and silky." Wine Advocate
"The Barbaresco Albesani 2020 has more substance and depth than the pure Barbaresco. The differences between the two wines are not so pronounced at first, but that comes with aeration. With time, macerated cherries, plums, spices, lavender, rose petals and sage develop in the glass. All the richness and power of the Albesani come out. For harvestwho want to understand what makes Albesani tick, this is the wine for you!" Vinous
"Very restrained on the nose, with smoky forest notes, preserved flowers and chocolate, wrapped in a fresh, elegant currant fruit. Very tasty on the palate, with fresh acidity and velvety, chewy, youthful tannins that are very precise and woven into the finish. Given its firm structure, this is not an easy wine to drink now, but it shows a quality in terms of texture and liquorice length that will keep it interesting for a long time." Decanter

The Vigna del Sorbo vineyard is located directly in front of the winery. The south-west facing vineyard with Galestro soils covers 8 hectares at an altitude of 450 metres. The Riserva was first produced in 1985 and has been labelled Gran Selezione since the 2010 vintage.
Dark ruby red with light red highlights. Deep and initially unfathomable on the nose. But any spirit of discovery will be enchanted when it opens slowly and very balanced with red cherries, redcurrants, earth, sage and liquorice, revealing more facets with each passing minute. Finally, the mouthfeel shows a similar degree of extreme flavour balance with very fine but still young tannins. This medium-bodied structure, coupled with the wine's natural acidity, is an important guarantee of its great longevity. Our clear conclusion: there is not only a lot to discover here, but also to admire. Chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE
"Single-vineyard wine from 55-year-old vines in the Conca d'Oro of Panzano: seductive notes of raspberries, spiced up with notes of dried roses and pepper; balanced texture, the acidity fresh, the tannins velvety and long-lasting. Pleasing with its fullness and elegance." Vinum
"Bright ruby red colour, dark. A savoury nose of ripe cherries, wild berries, graphite, dark spices and peppercorns, with a wet earth aftertaste. Juicy on the palate, with tightly woven tannins and superbly developed cherry fruit, profound and earthy, beautiful length, the months of additional ageing have done the wine a lot of good." Falstaff
"Aromas of stems, dried meat, berries and cherries with some dusty earth. The palate is firm and fresh, bright and crisp. It shows a certain texture of cement and stone." James Suckling
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is one of the most backward editions of this wine that I can remember tasting. Dark and almost sombre, the Vigna del Sorbo packs a tonne of intensity into its deceptively mid-weight frame. In many vintages, the Vigna del Sorbo is quite showy in its youth. This is not at all the case with the 2020, a wine that will need many more years to show its best side. With time, hints of lavender, dried herbs, plums and graphite emerge, but the 2020 is clearly a child. There is a sense of youthful austerity (in a positive sense) that I find very appealing. The Sorbo 2020 is a wine for those who can wait." Vinous
"This red is tightly wound, straightforward in profile and full of flavours of black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, fresh loam and minerals, supported by lively acidity and dense, soft tannins that combine beautifully with the tension and silky texture. Shows fantastic length." Wine Spectator
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo 2020 (with an edition of 25,000 bottles) is a generous expression of Sangiovese of unique intensity, showing tremendous precision and focus. This organic wine offers black fruits, grilled rosemary, pressed rose and crushed limestone. All of these flavours have a particular forward intensity that combines with the generous fruit richness for which this sunny vintage will be remembered." Wine Advocate
"A wine capable of expressing itself for years at the absolute top of the typology, Sangiovese with a small contribution of Cabernet Sauvignon, but above all the territory of Panzano. Intense nose, black currant, officinal scents, of citron thyme, then notes of clementine peel. At the sip is savory, with a fruity recall." Luca Gardini

“Mason di Mason” Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM
"The best of the best - you don't drink this wine every day. It needs attention, time to mature and likes to play the leading role: as the crowning glory of a festive table or even as a proud solitaire." Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg, Weingut Manincor
Noble and pure, the Mason di Mason Pinot Nero shines with flavours of raspberry, rose blossom, undergrowth and sweet spices. Elegant and seamlessly round on the palate with incredible balance, complexity and detail. A knockout Pinot Noir! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, brightening ruby red colour. Noble, delicate nose of ripe wild berries, notes of spruce shoots, citrus, fragrant. Light-footed and elegant on the palate, with clear fruit, beautiful acidity, red berry flavours and freshness, balanced, with a high drinking flow and medium length." Falstaff
"The 2020 Pinot Nero Mason di Mason delivers varietal tones of pressed violet, candied orange and sweet watermelon. You also get a pronounced savory quality with tobacco leaf, steeped tea, ozone, tar and wet asphalt. The wine has a pretty, lean-bodied approach with fine tannins." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Mason di Mason seduces with aromas of foreign spices, cedar, curry leaves, crushed stones and dried black cherries. This is pure class, silky and supple, with a core of mineral red fruit and vibrant acidity that keeps the energy going. The 2020 finishes with a concentrated and remarkably long finish of blood orange and tart raspberry notes that fills the cheeks. It could do with a short stay in the cellar to mature a little more. The Mason di Mason is the cru in the cru Pinot Noir of Manincor, which comes from the oldest vines of the Mazon vineyard." Vinous
Mason di Mason is described by the winery as "a Grand Cru within a Grand Cru". It comes from the highest and oldest parcels of the Mazzon vineyard with thinner moraine soils over hard limestone, resulting in smaller berries. The aromas of red and black cherries are joined by bitter herbs, cocoa and earth, which are reflected in the mouth, where the flavour is intense, structured and woody. It is juicy and combines good concentration with excellent length." Decanter
"This wine is very aromatic, with a very pure fruit, with notes of pink roses, blood orange and potpourri. Also some iodine. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of tension and mouth-filling juiciness. The tannins are supple and melt into the fruit. Delicious and long. Beautifully made." James Suckling

"Youthful, medium ruby red colour. A real, concentrated fruit nose, which is sadly lacking in this vintage. Subtle marasca cherry on the palate with lots of finely milled tannins; head and shoulders above the rest." Jancis Robinson
"It is aromatic and attractive with notes of dried cherries, hibiscus, cocoa and bark, followed by a medium body with polished and refined tannins with a velvety texture and a linear finish. Fresh and floral on the finish with a bright red fruit backbone." James Suckling
"The 2020 Barbaresco is a beautiful, harmonious wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring time. Forward fruit and soft curves are perhaps a little atypical for a young Barbaresco, but this also makes the wine very enjoyable. Juicy red cherry and plum fruit, rose petals, spices, cedar, mint and tobacco combine in the glass. Classicists will probably prefer other vintages, but it's hard not to like the 2020 for its charming, exuberant personality. At the same time, aeration brings out a greater aromatic presence and also a good structure." Vinous
"Still vinous, with youthful strawberry notes, rosebud, violets, liquorice and a hint of cinnamon. Spicy and floral on the palate, dominated by firm, crisp and persistent acidity and velvety, ripe tannins of astonishing quality; perhaps a little austere on the finish. Amazing Barbaresco. Here we have the Barbaresco co-operative, known for producing some of the best value quality wines in the Langhe." Decanter
"Embrace the harmonious blend of cooked cherries infused with an array of mixed spices, accompanied by subtle hints of medicinal herbs and rose water. Soft and rounded, yet possessing a discernible edge, this wine presents a fruit-forward profile loaded with flavors of cherry and raspberry, all the while, complemented by refreshing acidity. Its polished and elegant character develops throughout the bottle and will age deep into the future while still being great today." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Barbaresco offers a wealth of flavours of wild cherries, blue flowers, sweet spices and crushed limestone. As always, the wine paints an exciting and authentic portrait of Nebbiolo, albeit with a little more richness and texture in this vintage. This is especially true on the palate, where the wine offers a medium-bodied intensity with melting tannins." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino “Montosoli” DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in gift box
Montosoli lovers will be anything but disappointed by the archetype of the 2016 vintage. In this exceptional year, this special single vineyard shows a beautifully fragrant and floral bouquet that exactly meets the expectations of connoisseurs. Thus, for us, this edition represents the ideal interpretation of grape variety and terroir like hardly any other. The Sangiovese grape sounds bright and audible here from the glass - with nuances of small berries and floral impressions of rose, violet and lavender. In the drink, its complexity and multi-layeredness is rounded off by subtle notes of anise, cola and liquorice sticks. This fabulous wine, which is already inspiring, is always balancingly soft and silky and will - even if one hardly thinks it possible - gain in refinement and expression after a few more years of ageing! SUPERIORE.DE
"Seductive raspberry-scented wine with juice and polish; pithy on the palate, acidity well integrated, tight yet noticeable tannins, pleases with its polish, demonstrates finesse through to the final. With a hearty bistecca." Vinum
"Lustrous ruby. Concentrated cherry nose with an earthy, minerally note and a hint of gingerbread. With aeration more and more minerally. Tangy gentle fruit with the merest suggestion of oak. Gorgeous chewy tannins. Very suave, supple and elegant." Jancis Robinson
"Altesino has been producing a separate bottling from the cru of Montosoli since 1975, though the vines were partially replanted in 2005 and 2016. If Altesino's estate Brunello is almost accessible already, the polished yet intense Montosoli needs time in the cellar to demonstrate its potential. The nose is discreet with violet, bramble and bay leaf taking on earthy, savoury tones as it sits in the glass. Tight and firmly fastened, the palate fuses stony notes of granite with dark cherry. Ageing is in 30hL casks of Slavonian oak." Decanter
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli pulls you close to the glass with a captivating display of candied citrus rinds, incense and dried roses giving way to rich cherry sauce and a hint of brown spice. It's deeply textural yet youthfully dense, as it first cools the palate with lavender and ripe dark red fruits; yet beneath is a layer of grippy tannins that close the wine down. Notes of licorice, black tea and purple florals linger on the youthfully chewy finale. The 2016 is just a baby today, and it will need a number of years to come fully into focus - but it will be worth the wait." Vinous
"The Altesino 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is a true beauty. The wine reveals dark fruit intensity that comes forth as blackberry, plum and summer cherry. In no time, those aromas shift to the savory side of the spectrum with smoke, tar and tobacco. The results are generous and layered, offering the best of what the celebrated Montosoli cru can offer, especially in an ironic vintage such as this." Wine Advocate
"Lovely sweet cherries and heather with some leather and balsamic undertones. It's full-bodied with a velvety and lightly dusty palate. Juicy fruit and pretty orange peel to the berry character. Hints of cedar and meat at the end. Subtle and complex." James Suckling
"Rose, forest berry, underbrush and new leather are some of the aromas you'll find on this full-bodied red. From one of Montalcino's greatest vineyard sites, the firmly structured, elegant palate is also delicious, boasting ripe black cherry, raspberry compote, tobacco and licorice set against taut, fine-grained tannins. It's well balanced, with bright acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Packed with sweet, ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit and framed by loamy earth and woodsy notes, this red is intense, lively and light on its feet. Balanced, with firm tannins and a salty, minerally impression on the lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Scrio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018
Scrio - great Tuscan Syrah from Le Macchiole - is a true beauty. The persistent bouquet offers aromas of dark berries and cured meat, warm and balsamic on the palate with great intensity and dynamism, extracted and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pretty, subtle aromas of berries and sweet green tobacco follow through to a medium body with very fine tannins and a bright, fresh finish. Very balanced and fine." James Suckling
"The 2018 Scrio is brilliant. Fresh, translucent and so expressive, the 2018 dazzles from the very first taste. Although Scrio is Syrah, it is best described as a wine of Le Macchiole. There is not a ton of varietal character, and yet that in no way detracts from the immense pleasure the wine provides. Bright red cherry, blood orange, mint and rose petal linger. I can't wait to taste this with a bit more age." Vinous
"The 2018 Scrio is a pure expression of Syrah and one of the wines that broke the mold on this grape grown in coastal Tuscany. This is such a delicious wine and you want to bite into it, sip after sip, as if it were food. There is sweetness here, ample spice, tons of dark fruit and a long, luscious finish. I came back to the open bottle a day later and discovered Christmas spice and savory leather. This Tuscan Syrah shies away from the more prominent white pepper or smoked bacon aromas that you sometimes get from this grape, especially in New World expressions." Wine Advocate

“Picconero” Merlot Toscana IGT 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep dark, impenetrable ruby colour with violet reflections. Opulent, warm bouquet of fully ripe cherries, plums, liquorice, young leather with a hint of French oak spice. Powerful and firm on the palate, with a brilliant structure and taut tannins. With increasing aeration, it reveals its good structure and refined elegance. This outstanding Merlot from central Tuscany never seems broad or too heavy until the long finish, but is completely convincing with its terrificenergy and complexity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red colour. Fine use of wood on the nose, hints of marzipan, undergrowth, milk chocolate, dark berry fruit on the finish. Well-integrated acidity and clear, spicy fruit on the palate, currently coated in a somewhat bulky woody layer, full-bodied, but still needs to age longer." Falstaff
"The Picconero 2020 smells of ripe dark fruit, mocha, crushed leaves, incense, liquorice and dried flowers. Bright acids and strong spicy undertones remind us that we are in the heart of Tuscany." Vinous
"Made from Merlot, the Tolaini 2020 Picconero Tenuta Montebello is a dense and powerful wine with a considerable alcohol content of 15%. It is a broad wine with broad shoulders and plenty of dark fruit at its core. Blackberry flavours are followed by sweet spices, cinnamon, Tuscan cigar, grilled herbs and a hint of sweet rye bread." Wine Advocate
"With flavours of blackberries, black cherries, iron, toast and resin, this fresh and concentrated red wine is solidly built, with lively acidity and firm tannins to support it. It shows excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Blueberries, plums, cedar and dark chocolate with a hint of chilli pepper. It is full-bodied with layers of ripe tannins that have a velvety and refined texture. It has a cheesy finish. It needs time to open up with such structure." James Suckling
