“Demesse Vecchie” Lugana DOC 2021
Demesse Vecchie is named after the village where Olivini has its family seat. The historic part of the vineyard was home to a nunnery in the late 17th century. The addition "vecchie" promises that the grapes for this very complex Lugana come from the estate's oldest vines, some of which are over 50 years old. They are also harvested late and carefully selected, after which they are matured on the fine lees for several months.
Straw yellow with golden reflections. Orange peel, juicy peaches and hints of almond butter on the ripe nose. Full and delicately fruity on the palate, with delicate notes of vanilla and honey, some apricot and banana. A well-balanced, dry wine with a wonderful balance between fruit and acidity and by no means heavy or broad, but infinitely long. SUPERIORE.DE

“Bianco di Riecine” Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
The grapes for this exciting, mash-fermented Trebbiano come from the vineyards that the Dunkleys (former owners of the winery) found when they arrived in Gaiole in Chianti. They are destemmed and fermented in Cocciopesto amphorae. Once fermentation is complete, most of the wine remains on the skins for six months, while a small portion (10-15%) is aged without skins for the same amount of time in new Liters tonneaux. Rich orange-yellow. In the slightly reductive bouquet notes of stewed apple, citrus and pear. Very fruity on the palate, with a striking acidity and a beautiful tannin. Trebbiano was often referred to as one of the oldest and most widespread white wine grapes in the world, as the first mention of it dates back to Pliny shortly after the birth of Christ. However, since genetic studies were carried out in 2001, it has been known that many of the more than one hundred varieties labelled as Trebbiano are not at all or only very distantly related to each other. Six Trebbiano families have now been recorded: Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano Giallo, Trebbiano Modenese, Trebbiano Romagnolo, Trebbiano Spoletino and the most widespread Trebbiano Toscano, which is identical to Ugni Blanc.
Trebbiano Toscano is found in many important Italian white wines - such as Orvieto or Bianco di Custoza. But single-varietal Trebbiano Toscano wines are also a real treat for the palate. The elegant white wines from Trebbiano d'Abruzzo are also very popular. The wonderful white wines Soave and Lugana, on the other hand, are actually made from Verdicchio Bianco, even though this grape variety is synonymous with Trebbiano di Lugana or Trebbiano di Soave from Verona to Lake Garda.
What all wines labelled as Trebbiano have in common, however, is their juiciness and freshness - and therefore their suitability as a wonderful accompaniment to a delicious meal. Thanks to its versatility, Trebbiano goes well with a wide range of dishes. Thanks to its light acidity and fruity flavours, it harmonises particularly well with seafood, grilled fish, fruity salads and light starters. But Trebbiano can also be a good choice with pasta dishes with light-coloured sauces or poultry.
