Vast mountains, rolling hills and snow-covered glaciers – the vines of Valle Reale are surrounded by unspoilt and protected nature in the greenest region of Italy. The winery is located in Abruzzo between the provinces of Pescara and L'Aquila, right at the intersection of the three national parks Gran Sasso, Monti della Laga and Majella, which have a significant influence on viticulture in this region.
The farm was founded in 1998 by the Pizzolo family, who decided to explore the origins of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grape variety in the unspoilt mountain areas. What was once a passionate research project in collaboration with the University of Milan was brought to perfection and over the years developed into a model company that set new standards in the region with top wines characterised by their terroir. Today, Valle Reale is mentioned in the same breath as Abruzzo's top winemakers Emidio Pepe and Valentini, and not just because of its incredibly complex and storable Trebbiano wines.
"We leave it to nature to develop the organoleptic profile of the wines," says the winery, which is why they have only been fermenting spontaneously using indigenous yeasts since 2007. In addition, the wines are matured in steel and wooden barrels and are neither fined nor filtered. In short: top wines of great authenticity and expression are produced here. The biodynamically produced wines reflect the unadulterated speciality of this raw and untouched nature and should not be missing in any well-stocked wine cellar.
We hope you enjoy discovering the authentic top wines that are among the best you can find in Abruzzo. SUPERIORE.DE
