The Garofoli winery is a true winemaking jewel from the Italian Marche region and is known for its terrificVerdicchio from the Castello di Jesi DOC. And so it is no surprise that the family business is now also showing what it can do in the Matelica DOC. This is where some of the best wines of their kind come from, mostly from the higher vineyards: complex, mineral, fresh and long-lasting.

Garofoli's Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Serra Fiorese is initially rather restrained in the glass with delicate nuances of yellow flowers, peach skin and a hint of spices. It is then powerful on the palate with rich peach and nectarine notes accompanied by zesty citrus fruit. It leaves an aftertaste of tension and whets the appetite for more with its salty minerality and a hint of baked apple that lingers for a long time. The Serra Fiorese, vinified in small batches, is a barrel-matured and fermented Verdicchio that needs to be given a certain amount of time to experience its undisputed greatness, and then it is great! Tavignano's complex top product Misco Riserva represents the synthesis of the winery's Verdicchio expertise and is its most refined interpretation of the terroir.
