Franciacorta Satèn DOCG 2018 brut
Delicately yeasty and opulent tropical fruit flavour. Outstanding personality, elegant, full-bodied and with a great balance between fruity softness and structure. Oenologist Mattia Vezzola and Bellavista also set standards in terms of complexity and depth with their Satèn. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright and crisp orchard fruits, accompanied by lemon zest, burst from the glass. Light yeast notes add complexity, while good crunchy acidity provides freshness. The wine is fruit-forward, with a light minerality and a hint of yellow flower." Wine Enthusiast

“Solosole Pagus Camilla” Bianco Bolgheri DOC 2018
Pagus Camilla comes from a small parcel called "Camilla" near the Sondraia vineyards. Here, the Vermentino and Petit Manseng grapes experience greater concentration and complexity during the ripening process. This "project wine", produced in very small quantities, is a unique example of the potential for white wines from Bolgheri. Pure, deep and beautiful, citrus flavours, salt, minerality and with full, creamy fruit, balanced, long and with very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense, sparkling lemon yellow colour. Elegant on the nose, with fine woody spice, ripe yellow fruit and a slightly buttery finish. Expansive on the palate, with a strong presence, fine fruit flavour and pronounced length." Falstaff
"This has a perfumed and complex nose of grapefruits, star fruit, rosemary, white pepper, nutmeg, peaches, dried flowers and cumin. It’s medium- to full-bodied with an oily texture. Layers of tropical fruit and spice, all held together by a zesty freshness. Fantastic Vermentino." James Suckling

“Contrada Rampante” Rosso Etna DOC 2019
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Contrada Rampante parcel is situated at an average altitude of 740 metres above sea level between Solicchiata and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of just 4.6 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 15,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante is remarkably pretty, wafting up from the glass with dusty rose and cherry complicated by ashen stone. It soothes with its silky textures and ripe red berry fruits. Vibrant acidity maintains a lovely energy throughout. Fine tannins linger, flexing its youthful structure as the 2019 finishes potent yet fresh and wonderfully perfumed. This is a beautiful interpretation of Rampante fruit." Vinous
"Aromas of ash, baked strawberry and roasted herbs. Medium to full-bodied with silky tannins. Mineral, with some spicy herbal character, but it remains pleasantly red-fruited throughout. Very complex and balanced." James Suckling
"The Tenuta Tascante 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante takes a little longer to open up aromatically compared to some of the other wines in this impressive series from Etna. This initial shyness quickly melts away as the wine takes on more air and intensity in the glass. It shows aromas of wild cherry, rosemary or Mediterranean herbs and pressed violet. You get a good impression of the incredibly fine and articulate nature of Nerello Mascalese, especially when the grape is handled with a restrained winemaking style. There is a salty or mineral note on the finish." Wine Advocate

“60 20 20” Cabernet Veneto IGT 2020
Text will follow shortly. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, bright ruby red colour. Inviting aroma of ripe cherry, plum and spice. Juicy and fruity on the palate, present, fine-meshed tannins, lingering finish." Falstaff
"The 2020 “60 20 20” (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot) lifts from the glass with a dark blend of black currants, lavender, chalk dust and fresh tobacco leaf. This is round and supple in feel, with ripe wild berry fruits and sweet spices balanced by zesty acidity. It leaves a coating of fine tannins while tapering off with nuances of mocha, savory herbs and white pepper. The “60 20 20” will require patience to show its best." Vinous
"A little closed on the nose, but super-clean currant and berry character comes through on the palate, together with chewy tannins that dominate the finish for now. This needs a year or two to open up and mellow. May gain more complexity with age." James Suckling

“Terminum” Gewürztraminer Passito Alto Adige DOC 2021 dolce
Brilliant gold in the glass. Floral bouquet with hints of candied fruit and fine herbal spice. Lots of sweet yellow fruit and a restrained almond note on the palate. Full-bodied, creamy flavour of orange zest, some cinnamon and white pepper. The finish is long and compact with candied fruit and saffron. You could call it sensory overload, but no: it is a highly elegant, polyphonic symphony concert with several encores and standing ovations! SUPERIORE.DE
"Polished, firm and deep nose of partly candied and preserved white and yellow fruits with planty to herbal aromas, almonds and hazelnut, some sea buckthorn as well as vegetal and floral tones. Dense, youthful, rather bright, very sweet fruit, fine acidity, clear candy tones and some light honey on the palate, floral tones, a little white berries and lychee, ethereal-herbal notes, orange zest and some preserved apricot, a lot of salt in the background, good depth, still undeveloped, quite complex, very good to long, polished, sweet, juicy and finely spicy finish." Wein-Plus
"Sparkling straw yellow with a light gold colour. Delicate and pleasant nose, initially of yellow peach, banana, some nutmeg and white pepper, then elegant candied citrus fruit, constantly developing in the glass. Oily texture, with a creamy fruit centre, warm-hearted, pleasant, soft and somewhat broad on the finish, clear on saffron." Falstaff
"Deep golden and unagitatedly slow in the glass. Luscious, breathtakingly sweet! It's like a concentrate of Alphonso mango and apricot syrup. Beautiful deep orange-coloured acidity. But so intensely sweet and concentrated that it almost makes your eyes water." Jancis Robinson
"This wine is very aromatic, it almost jumps out of the glass with all its tropical fruits, citrus peel, flowers and spices. On the palate it is full and rich with a generous sweetness, but balanced by freshness and lively acidity. Very attractive and well made. Creamy on the finish." James Suckling
"The Gewürztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva Terminum is a thick, glossy wine with sweet glycerin that wraps over the palate. This fragrant dessert wine boasts aromas of tuberose, marigold and Indian spice. The acidity is lacking, but the wine delivers a big dollop of sweetness over a full-bodied finish. It ages in barrique for 14 months, bringing in marzipan and roasted almond." Wine Advocate

“Terra di Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Deep dark cherry red with a violet glow at the rim. On the nose, aromas of spices like rosemary and thyme, plus fruity notes of blackcurrant and cherry. On the palate blackberry, cherry, fresh plum and cranberry, wonderful cassis note and dark chocolate on the long final. Modern Tuscan, stylistically rigorous according to the French model. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a slightly lightening rim. In the nose tones of ripe Amarena cherry, wild berries and plums, in the aftertaste mint and elegant toasty aromas from the wood ageing. Juicy and mouth-filling on the palate, with fine tannin and a long finish." Falstaff
"It smells of violets and black and blue berries. In the mouth it is intense, concentrated and dense, with good acidity, fine tannins and lively, tangy dark fruits. Needs more time before it opens up." Decanter
"A medium-bodied, balanced red wine with notes of cherry, spiced plum, dried herbs and liquorice. Spicy. Slightly chewy tannins. Fresh and delicious finish. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The second wine from Monteverro. Already very tasty." James Suckling
"Fruity bouquet of stone fruit and herbs; excellently structured with fine mineral components, the finish is balanced and fruity." Vinum
"The 2019 Monteverro Terra di Monteverro is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from organic farming and is the little brother of the winery's Monteverro (from the same grapes). This concentrated vintage shows lots of concentrated fruit, blackberry and black cherry. The wine also has a creamy side that adds to the sense of opulence and density." Wine Advocate

“Costa Grande” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018
A little bit of everything, but never too much of a good thing. One of the most complex Nobiles we have ever tasted. Delicate red fruit with a pinch of sweetness and a floral aroma, underpinned by some tobacco and raspberry. Clear cherry flavour on the palate, plus a wonderful spiciness with that subtle sweetness in the background again. A finesse-rich and harmonious final whets the appetite for the next glass. Very successful and full of precision! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a delicately brightening rim. Fine leather aroma on the nose, delicate roasted malt flavour, fine strawberries on the finish. Very radiant on the palate, juicy, with clear red berry fruit and a powerful final with elegant spicy notes." Falstaff
"Subtle yet complex bouquet with good depth coming from red fruits and spicy flavours. A certain stony minerality adds a touch of austerity to the plums and cherries. Medium to full body with chalky tannins. Transparent and delicious." James Suckling
"The Boscarelli 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Costa Grande is amply rich and fleshed out with dark fruit, tarry smoke and toasted spice. This is a savory wine with a heavy center of gravity that would work next to braised meats or roasts. The wine remains mid-weight in stye, but the texture is velvety and rich." Vinous
"This soft red wine, made exclusively from Sangiovese, opens with aromas of ripe wild berries, undergrowth, violets and dark spices. On the polished palate, refined tannins accompany baked plums, liquorice and a hint of espresso." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Costa Grande is incredibly pretty, as crushed stone gives way to bright cherries, dusty violets, mint and a hint of animal musk. The wine feels round and supple, but gains traction from mineralised red fruits. The finish is lightly structured yet lively. Although the 2018 has only just been bottled, it shows wonderfully and is full of potential. I love it." Vinous
"This ripe and almost opulent red wine shows flavours of black cherries, blackberries, violets, iron and spices. There is a hint of wild herbs that intertwine on the long, dense finish. A tantalising expression of fruit supported by a solid structure." Wine Spectator

“Campo San Giorgio” Rosso Conero Riserva DOCG 2017
The Montepulciano vines for this powerful and terroir-rich Montepulciano grow on the Campo San Giorgio vineyard at an altitude of about 150 m on deep, chalky clay soils. The wine is unfiltered and unfined and matures for 12 months in small and large wooden barrels. The label represents the historic design of the Rosso Conero of the 1970s and the impressive result is the calling card of a long family tradition and expertise in viticulture.
Deep dark ruby red with violet and garnet reflections. Very expressive on the nose with a fruity style of cherry, plum, liquorice and herbal spice. Fresh and firm on the palate, the delicate extract sweetness gives it harmony and the silky tannins lead into a warm, very long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fragrant with loamy earth and ripe fruit on the nose, this enticing red features a pure beam of pureed black cherry, minerally iron and smoke, dried thyme and lavender. Silky on the palate, but the lush flavor profile wraps around a core of dense, but fine, tannins that emerge to firm the finish." Wine Spectator
"A lovely shellfish aroma rises first to the nose, followed by notes of fresh orange peel and ripe purple plums. The palate is already engaged, repeating the same fresh fruit and mineral character that gives this wine a light feel despite its Riserva status. Firm tannins emerge at the end. This is a very fine, terroir-driven wine that just needs time to shake off the still-youthful tannins. An exceptional wine for the Marche. Best from 2024." James Suckling

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO) MAGNUM in OWC
Medium, bright ruby red colour. The bouquet and flavour are dominated by interesting notes of fresh cut flowers, sweet red berries, liquorice, mint, pine and cedar wood. As the wine progresses, the Chianti Classico reveals a marvellous precision and spiciness, which is enveloped by a well-measured extract sweetness. The overall impression is one of grace and an open-hearted style, which impresses with all its components and not least with its typical Radda Sangiovese freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium red; reductive, appealing; round, balanced, fruit, dense, round tannin, very pleasing." (JLF) Merum
"10% Merlot gives this animating Chianti Classico a rich mouthfeel, it glides velvety over the palate and offers plenty of fruit." Weinwisser
"Intense, radiant ruby red colour. Inviting on the nose, with elegant spice and red cherry fruit, light peach flavour. On the palate with tightly woven tannins, fresh, with clear fruit and subtle spice, beautiful length, drinks very well." Falstaff
"On the nose, dark chocolate links sweet cherry and vanilla to savory tomato leaf and earth. The streaks of cherry, chocolate and vanilla continue on the palate, with strawberries highlighting their sweetness, but well-timed tannins and acid boost the enduring, vegetal tomato note to maintain balance." Wine Enthusiast
"This Annata opens to reveal generous plums and strawberries flecked with black pepper. Sweet red berries fill the mouth while showing the brightness and freshness associated with the heights of Radda. The balanced tannins have a slightly chalky texture that adds a special touch to this delicious red wine." Decanter
"The 2021 Chianti Classico is an absolute delight. Fragrant, silky and super-expressive, the 2021 captures all the finesse of Radda. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petals, orange peel and mint are beautifully brought out in this vibrant, medium-bodied Chianti Classico that has so much to offer. It's a beautiful performance." Vinous
"A racy version with flavours of black cherries, blueberries, violets and iron. It has firm tannins that harmonise with the acidity, while a hint of Mediterranean scrub shines through. Mouthwatering finish." Wine Spectator
"Balanced blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, notes of redcurrants, undergrowth and liquorice on the nose, wild mint on the finish. Juicy attack, dense and crisp, salty-sour tannins, very long finish. Closes with a return of small red fruits." Luca Gardini

“Castello di Brolio” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020
Ricasoli's classic is now made from 100% Sangiovese. The grapes come from a south-facing plot at an ideal altitude of 250 to 450 metres above sea level. Castello di Brolio Gran Selezione is a wonderful wine with great richness and depth. It has an intense bouquet of small red berries, violets and spices. The flavour reveals precision, structure and freshness. The tannin and acidity are well-balanced and promise a long life and an interesting ageing period. SUPERIORE.DE
"A great Castello di Brolio. Red and blue berries, forest air, pine needles and brook mint, complex. Floats on the tongue with silky, polished tannins, again cherries and blackberries, finely structured and highly elegant, animating freshness and juicy length." Weinwisser
"Bright, medium ruby red with garnet-red reflections. Intense aroma of juicy cherries, orange peel, tobacco leaves and light spices of cinnamon and vanilla. Very elegant on the palate, with beautiful fruit flavours and well-integrated tannins as well as an exciting and persistent final." Falstaff
"Deep carmine red colour. Quite a complex nose. Racy with flavours of tea leaves and good freshness. Good bite. A real, refined Chianti Classico." Jancis Robinson
"This lively red wine shows telltale Sangiovese notes of iron, red chalk and tobacco that fade into a core of cherry and raspberry. It becomes smoother and more focused on the finish, where the fruit, minerals and savoury elements come together." Wine Spectator
"Autumnal aromas of baking spices and the taste of a freshly brewed cup of coffee are balanced by a sweet cherry vanilla biscuit and a peppery note. The cherry brightens the palate, with spice sustained by herbal and stony undertones. Bright acidity plays around firm tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio is one of the winery's most important and successful bottles. It is full-bodied and rich with warm, vintage flavours of blackberries, juicy cherries, spices and soft earth. It is aged for 22 months in tonneaux, of which only 30% is new oak, but this is more than enough to give this full-bodied Sangiovese spicy tones, soft tannins and a rich structure." Wine Advocate
"Complex bouquet of forest fruits, black pepper and tobacco; has flesh, fullness, skilfully balanced tannins and acidity, long finish. Convinces with its charismatic style." Vinum
"Castello di Brolio is the flagship of the winery and combines Sangiovese from higher-lying vineyards near the castle, planted on the three main soil types found here: Macigno (sandstone), Galestro and Alberese. This 2020 has a balsamic bouquet that is accompanied in the mouth by a rich concentration of flavoursome, tangy red and black fruits and wonderfully silky tannins. Structured enough to age well, but soft and approachable enough to enjoy immediately, it's a great all-rounder." Decanter
"Bright and floral on the nose, with orange blossom and vibrant sliced cherry character. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins that are supple and gentle. Beautiful aftertaste of cooked peach pie and cherry. Delicious now, but even better in 2028." James Suckling
"Pure Sangiovese from three vineyards around the castle, an expression of three different soils. Black cherry on the nose, with notes of eucalyptus and cinnamon. Spicy tannins on the palate, dense, persistent with a balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

“Ghiaie della Furba” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Ghiaie della Furba means "pebbles of the Furba stream" and there is a reason for this, as the vines for this wine grow on the river pebbles on the banks of this stream. It is one of the very first "Supertuscans". After an hour in the carafe, this extremely complex red reveals wonderfully clear, dark fruit, blackberries and cassis, as well as coffee notes, dark chocolate and spices. Its very good structure and personality are impressive. It is already very accessible today (with aeration), but is still hiding its great potential for the next decade. SUPERIORE.DE
"A lively, elegant red wine with aromas and flavours of black cherries, blackcurrants, violets, cedar and tobacco. Balanced, while a sweep of firm, dense tannins support the long, fruity and flavoursome finish." Wine Spectator
"The nose is like a garden after a storm, with aromas of fruit and flowers mixing with the stones crushed underfoot and the saltiness of still-wet air. Red plums, mission figs, roses and violets continue onto the palate, with umami undertones setting up a coffee and chili pepper finish." Wine Enthusiast

“Bradisismo” Cabernet-Carménère Colli Berici DOC 2020
1997 saw the birth of Bradisismo, named after the geological event that led to the formation of the Colli Berici. It is a successful symbiosis of the intense, concentrated flavour of ripe Cabernet cherries and the lively, spicy notes of Carménère. With its bouquet of small dark berries, spices, pepper and chocolate, it is a wonderfully inexpensive alternative to the great Bordeaux blends or Supertuscans. On the palate, it has a velvety texture, with a mix of dark fruits, cherries, floral notes and fine tannins that glide seamlessly over the palate. Deep, long finish and very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Cassis and framboise through a matrix of dried oregano, tarragon and dried mushrooms. The fruit is perfectly moulded and cut by the acidity of the ripe tomato with a hint of cool, sharp spice from the tomato vine. Powerful but very refined tannins. Long and secure." Jancis Robinson
"Shows pure, juicy aromas of ripe blackcurrant, layered with pretty accents of violets, tar, ground coffee, wild sage and fine-grained tannins. Concentrated and creamy on the palate, with notes of fresh earth and forest floor that lend the fruit a savoury note on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The Inama 2020 Colli Berici Cabernet Bradisismo is something special, and not just because of its unusual grape blend. It is a full-bodied and particularly accessible red wine that offers great versatility and plenty of potential for pairing with other dishes. This vintage shows a soft ripeness of both grape varieties with a rich, full-bodied texture. The finish is savoury with a hint of pepper." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Cabernet Bradisismo is dusty and floral in the glass with vibrant wild berries complemented by nuances of rose, sage and graphite. It has a soft texture and a pleasant feel with a blend of tart red berries and sweet spice enlivened by zesty acidity. A hint of fine tannins and a touch of black liquorice linger on the finish, which is lightly structured and spicy. It's a warm vintage, but the balance here is great." Vinous
"In the glass with aromas of crushed blackberries, Marasca cherries in liquor, crushed red and blue flowers, cedar and mixed spices. Bold flavors pop on the palate but are restrained by an elegant mix of tannin, acidity and savory elements that do not want to let loose just yet." Wine Enthusiast
"A historic bottle, now in its 20th year. Cabernet, with a significant proportion of Carmenère, cranberries and pepper leaves on the nose, a hint of undergrowth, a touch of orange peel, a spicy drink, with a citrusy finish." Luca Gardini
"An almost balanced blend of Cabernet and Carmenere, with an increasing proportion of Merlot and Franc. Purple vibrancy. Spread of green olives. Chilli, mint, dark chocolate and dense boysenberry confectionery. And yet the flavour, although full-bodied, is incredibly spicy. The oak is a seductive frame that blends effortlessly with the wine's density and modern, forward style. This wine is strongly reminiscent of a Bordeaux, with an added measure of finesse and richness." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017
Sandro Chias Annata presents itself taut, forward and downright bold in the glass. On the palate, its natural richness and lushness of fruit is convincing, complemented by varietal elements of wild cherry, blue flowers and soft earth. Then, in quick succession, secondary aromas of tobacco, cedar and cinnamon surprise, giving complexity and personality to the wine built up in many deep layers. This Brunello has wonderful potential for further bottle ageing, but it is already an absolute delight and the quality of the fruit and its length make it irresistible. SUPERIORE.DE
"Delicate bouquet of red berries, flowers and undergrowth; juicy in the mouth, compact, the tannins robust, nice melting, fine-meshed tannins, good length." Vinum
"To the northwest of Montalcino, Castello Romitorio’s vineyards are surrounded by thick woods receiving moderate sun exposure. The relatively cool setting was an advantage in 2017. Well put together with a graceful flow, this Brunello echoes its setting and opens with pronounced cedar and evocative forest floor accents. Neither heavy nor over-concentrated, the palate is replete with pulpy red berries. There is a succulence to the fruit and a silkiness to the texture, and nuances of pulverised stone weave throughout." Decanter
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is dusty, dark and floral at first, but with time, it becomes exotic and spicy. Black cherries lifted by minty herbs and camphor give way to floral undergrowth and tobacco as the 2017 gains in volume with each swirl of the glass. It’s silky-smooth and pliant yet shows remarkable purity and cooling acidity, as you perceive its red and hints of blue fruit slowly drenching the palate, leaving salty minerals and a coating of primary concentration. The long, penetrating finale mixes fine tannins and nuances of sour citrus in a powerful yet wonderfully balanced expression of the Romitorio vineyards." Vinous
"The Castello Romitorio 2017 Brunello di Montalcino comes from an estate that is quickly becoming a leader in a special niche of the Montalcino market. The wine is modern and soft, showing lots of contained ripeness and creaminess, yet it successfully embraces the fundamentals of the appellation and Sangiovese, thanks to its bright acidity and finely tuned structure. Few wines reach this level of precision, especially in a challenging vintage such as this." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Cherry accentuated bouquet with hints of violet blossoms, clove, cigar box and a pleasant spicy sweetness. Dense and expressive on the palate, it opens vibrantly and multilayered and then reveals a beautiful load of black cherry, exotic spices and a fine salty vein. The perfectly balanced tannin always provides the necessary balance and gives it a racy, very long finish with its exceedingly refined flavour components. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium to deep ruby red. Perfumed, spicy nose with mineral notes. Fine polished fruit that is really fresh. Long, grainy tannins. Lush and fresh at the same time." Jancis Robinson
"The Castiglion del Bosco 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is robust and powerful from the start, showing broad shoulders and plenty of muscle. But at the end of the day, the wine's concentration remains on the medium to medium-bodied side of the spectrum. It remains firmly within the confines of Sangiovese. Dark fruits and blackcurrants segue into savoury notes of toasted spices, black olives, earth and rusty nails." Wine Advocate
"In the far northwest of Montalcino, the sprawling Castiglion del Bosco estate stretches over several hills of varying heights, exposures and textures. From 42 hectares dedicated to Brunello comes this impressive production. The 2018 does not explode with its fragrance, but slowly unfolds its suggestive floral scents. These reach a crescendo on the palate, melding seamlessly with joyful, pure pomegranate and cherry flavours. The supple tannins have a velvety texture. Unrestrained and fluid, it's hard to resist now." Decanter
"Ripe berries and hints of red liquorice and herbs on the nose, medium-bodied on the palate with fine, tightly packed tannins and a taut finish for now. Give it two years to relax a little. Taste from 2025." James Suckling
"The nose puts cherries front and center, intertwined with roses with heavier tar and graphite, before umami flavors of mushroom, balsamic vinegar, seaweed and soy slowly emerge. On the chalky palate, dark chocolate pushes up against the showboating cherries before a kick of spice sets up a long, energetic finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Exuding a dusty blend of cedar spice, mentholated herbs, rose petals and sour cherry, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino feels round and supple, with floral red and black fruits complemented by a subtle hint of sweet spice. The palate leaves a bitter aftertaste of sour berries, while a touch of residual acidity gives the wine a pleasing freshness and a gentle tannin slowly retreats. The 2018 has improved every time I've tasted it over the past five months, and it now shows the robustness of northwestern Montalcino Sangiovese, but in a wonderfully balanced way." Vinous
"Rich at the start, with a touch of glycerine in the texture before civilised tannins take over on the finish. It offers notes of plum, cherry, earth, tobacco and iron that come through, with a firm grip of tannins on the finish." Wine Spectator
"From a parcel of the Capanna vineyard, one of the most accomplished expressions of the winery run by managing director Simone Pallesi. Pomegranate notes on the nose, with balsamic nuances of eucalyptus and rhubarb. Salty, juicy tannins on the palate, fruity-balsamic finish." Luca Gardini

“Contrada Rinazzo” Bianco Etna Superiore DOC 2021
The area around the small town of Milo is the only vineyard site on Etna where an Etna Bianco is allowed to be bottled as Superiore - and for good reason: only Carricante may be planted on the steep vineyard, which consists of dozens of small terraces. The vines are trained like a small tree on poles made of chestnut wood. The eastern exposure and the proximity of the sea allow the grapes to ripen late, resulting in very consistent acidity levels and a white wine with an aromatic finesse and freshness that is unrivalled even on Etna. SUPERIORE.DE
"Warm light yellow colour; citrus notes; fruit in the mouth, distant celery herb, fine structure, juicy, taut, sweetness, length, drinky, pleasing." (JLF) Merum
"From a vineyard in Milo, the superiore zone for Etna Bianco: Filigree nose with fresh fruit and fine spice; full of character yet balanced in the mouth, mineral-fruity, floral-salty finish." Vinum
"Intense, sparkling straw yellow colour. Very exotic nose of papaya, mango and banana, with delicate floral notes and a cold, smoky finish. On the palate with a fine fruit melt and well-integrated acidity, compact, again exotic fruit, with a delicately bitter, animating finish." Falstaff
"Light but well balanced, this has a saline, peachy quality with white flowers and touches of nuttiness. Lemon and lanolin complete the finish." Decanter
"Aromas of green apples and lemon pith with fresh herbs and chalky mineral undertones. Juicy and crisp with a medium body, steady acidity and refreshing, citrusy finish. Lengthy and tense." James Suckling
"Delicate and floral on the nose, it unfolds its expressive notes of pink grapefruit granita, fleur de sel, ripe yellow pear, aniseed and chopped Marcona almonds on the palate. Long and creamy with a mineral finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine is very straightforward and dense, it definitely needs a few more years in the bottle to unfold and develop. At this young stage, the Benanti 2021 Etna Bianco Superiore Contrada Rinazzo focuses on citrus fruit, green melon and Granny Smith apple. Give this wine another year or two in the bottle to develop some of those lovely carricante flint, crushed stone and yellow rose tones." Wine Advocate
"Overtones of flowers and spice brighten an otherwise very savoury nose. The palate remains savoury, but the spices linger and work with an emerging lemon to create a volcanic minerality, while offering a round, full texture before a long, hot finish." Wine Enthusiast
"A magnetic Carricante in purity from the municipality of Milo, refined in steel. Very complex on the nose, with notes of yellow flowers, bergamot, fresh thyme, a hint of white melon and a touch of iodine. Spicy-sweet on the palate, with a fruity-oily finish." Luca Gardini

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2016 · Artist’s edition “Hiroyuki Masuyama“
La Grola is the historic vineyard that gave its name to Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, which is probably its origin. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini sparked an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing area, which today is home to great red wines from north-eastern Italy.
So it is not surprising that La Grola receives a special honour from its magnificent location. Since 2010, Allegrini has been collaborating with internationally renowned artists, publishing year after year a unique, limited artist edition. The edition opened with a work by Milo Manara, continued in 2011 with a label designed by Arthur Duff and continued in 2012 with a painting by Athos Faccincani. The composition VI by Wassily Kandinsky was selected for La Grola in 2013, and in 2014 the artistic journey went to Brazil and to Nazareno Rodrigues Alves, before returning to Italy with the 2015 edition to Leonardo Ulian.
The 2016 vintage was interpreted by a great Japanese artist: Hiroyuki Masuyama. In a highly innovative process, La Grola's Limited Edition ennobles the fascinating synthesis of overlapping shots. A total of 288 photographs are incorporated into this work, showing one of the legendary vineyards of Valpolicella from an exciting and completely new perspective. Time and space are the fundamental elements of Hiroyuki Masuyama's overall creativity: everything revolves around these two concepts, which have been formalised differently over the years and have become the hallmark of his work. Masuyama combines and overlaps the result of hundreds of photographs taken of his subject from a fixed angle. The result of this superimposition is another image of the same place.
We are pleased to be able to offer you some copies of the special edition, which is strictly limited every year!
Dense, dark ruby red, in the nose very full-bodied and strong with tones of forest and overripe berries. The rich fullness from coffee to black cherries is accompanied by present, pleasant tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lovely balance, as always, to this super Veronese red with juicy dark fruit and hints of black chocolate. Medium to full body, succulent tannins and a fresh finish." James Suckling
"Very inky and toasty nose. On the palate the wine is elegant, fresh and poised with classy, well-integrated oak, flavours of plums and cherries and tight tannins, which will soften in time." Decanter

“Rancia” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2020
Sparkling, medium-dense ruby-garnet colour. The Rancia Riserva from the single vineyard of the same name is powerful and energetic, expressive and dense. The aroma is characterised by ripe, full-bodied fruit and mineral notes. The flavour is earthy, tannic and terroir-influenced, beautifully articulated, fine and with an enjoyable length. A wine that requires sensitivity and/or a few years of rest. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. On the nose, it smells of beautiful precious wood, lightly of coconut flakes, ripe cherries, cranberries and cold smoke. Compact on the palate with tightly woven tannins, beautifully savoury, opens up on the final with warm-hearted fruit, carried by a full-bodied, long finish." Falstaff
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Seductive, sophisticated nose of raspberries with oak notes and mineral, stony notes. Almost a little exotic. Juicy raspberry fruit with lots of gravelly tannins. Elegant and long. Undeniably attractive now." Jancis Robinson
"On the nose, small red fruits, redcurrants, then notes of laurel and peony. The mouthfeel is flavoursome, very taut, with a strawberry and juniper berry note that keeps reappearing and an excellent persistence." Luca Gardini
"Intense, with complex flavours of cherries, blackberries, violets, minerals and leafy undergrowth, this red wine is silky and almost racy. Harmonious and persistent, with a long, resonant aftertaste that reflects red fruit, mineral and spicy elements." Wine Spectator
"A sophisticated and very refined Rancia with sweet berries, cedar wood and a hint of chocolate. Medium body. Fresh and concentrated. A little restrained on the finish. It needs two or three years to develop." James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia 2020 shows a beautiful minerality with dusty notes of crushed limestone or flint. This is the wine's special signature, which comes into its own particularly well in a warm vintage like this one. The Rancia also offers a superficial quality with red and violet fruit tones. The 2020 vintage shows lovely concentration and richness with wild cherry and plum, but ultimately the wine leaves an elegant mineral finish. The Rancia will need additional bottle ageing." Franciacorta Rosé DOCG 2018 brut
Pinot Nero and Chardonnay give this exceptional Franciacorta a delicate salmon red colour with an orange touch. Strawberry fruit, a hint of blackcurrant and fine floral nuances on the nose. Freshly structured on the palate, with a lively mousse and delicate red berry flavours with citrus undertones. A light-footed character with elegance, character and grace right through to the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense orange-pink with copper reflections. Clear and fragrant on the nose, candle wax, raspberries, subtle hint of salted caramel, some incense on the finish. Balanced and precise on the palate, with fine playfulness and clear fruit, final on a fine vanilla note with a slightly phenolic finish." Falstaff
"Notes of strawberry, cranberry and fresh rose make for a lively and vibrant flavour profile. The wine has a hint of blood orange peel and ends with crisp acidity, a lively perlage and a long-lasting finish." Wine Enthusiast
"A blend with a light proportion of Chardonnay, but with a strong proportion of Pinot Noir, with partial use of oak during vinification and ageing. Very balsamic nose, with notes of redcurrant, thyme and iodised notes." Luca Gardini

Radici Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2017
Bright, powerful ruby colour, aromas of cherry, redcurrant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and taut tannins that give it definition and lift to the flavours. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. It has outstanding potential. If you taste the decades-old wines from Mastroberardino (dating back to 1928), it becomes clear: these wines are monumental, immortal or at least for eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Ripe blackberries and rich plums on the nose, with a subtle hint of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, liquorice and a touch of leather in the background. Powerful but well-integrated tannins on the palate, with plenty of ripe fruit and a long final." Falstaff
"The nose is tart, spicy and assertive, with aromas of blackberry, pepper and hot iron. On the palate, black cherries reinforce the blackberry tartness before a new intrigue comes in the form of fresh herbs and a coffee bitterness. The acidity bumps up against the powerful but quiet tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Dark and intense, the 2017 Taurasi Radici Riserva glows with an intriguing blend of crushed ash stones, graphite, lavender and dried wild berries. Initially lean on the palate, it gains energy from a core of tart citrus and savoury spice, while tart red fruits saturate the senses. The 2017 leaves the mouth reeling with a mesh of fine tannins and a hint of sour orange that tickles the cheeks. It's still a baby today, but it has the balance to mature beautifully with time." Vinous
"Complex and deep character with ripe blackberries, sultanas, dried roses, dark chocolate, roasted walnuts, dark liquorice and wild mushrooms with some tar. Full-bodied, complex and compact with a broad and velvety tannin structure that lingers on the palate. Classic, restrained style with a hint of sweet tobacco on the finish. Needs three to four years to fully develop." James Suckling
"An indispensable part of the peninsula's winemaking history, a Taurasi that is impossible not to call iconic. Cherries and laurel on the nose, a hint of eucalyptus, dogwood peel and undergrowth, salty, dense and compact in the mouth, with a citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

“Le Stanze del Poliziano” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
Classic Super Tuscan made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured in French oak. In its very dense violet-red, clear fruity notes and a highly tempting hint of candied lemons inspire. The taste is very harmonious, rich and powerful, the tannins perfectly integrated, the spicy final beautifully persistent. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, elegant ruby red with a gently lightening rim. Hearty and inviting nose with fine earthy components of cassis and wild berries, in addition fine leather, in the reverberation of dried violets. Densely woven and complex on the palate, showing considerable structure without appearing ponderous, finishing with a nice juiciness, already seems balanced and accessible." Falstaff
"This wine has a subtle and exotic wasabi spiciness and freshness of olive, cassis and blackcurrant leaf. Rich, flavourful and quite full-bodied on the palate with firm, polished tannins and bright acidity that helps to take the edge off the heaviness here. The finish is very lively and long. Bravo!" James Suckling
"Features pure flavors of black currant and blackberry, with accents of iron, cedar and oak spices. Tightly wound and dense, with tannins flexing their presence on the long finish. Energetic and fresh, with a lasting impression of sweet, ripe fruit." Wine Spectator

“Case Vecie” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2017
Amarone Case Vecie takes its name from the vineyard of the same name in the municipality of Grezzana in Valpantena. This is an exceptional plot of land where the grapes ripen slowly and consistently even in the most difficult years thanks to the altitude and exposure. The late harvest makes it possible to store the grapes in a cooler season and to carry out a slow and long drying process that develops the characteristic flavours. A wine that brings out the natural characteristics of the high mountain climate: a true Amarone delle "Vigne Alte".
Intense ruby red colour. Case Vecie needs time to open up in the glass. It seduces with a rather unobtrusive but also meditative expression and draws the eye to a pretty bouquet of blackberries, lavender and violets. The palate reveals pure elegance that rests on a core of lively acidity and at the same time displays an impressive density with radiant black fruits that gain volume and depth towards the end. Cherries, sweet spices, mocha and dark, floral notes run through the dramatically long final. The harmony and balance is already astonishing and will continue to refine with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. A nose of cloves and cinnamon powder, with a fine hint of pepper and a finish of fine sultanas, rich black cherries and elegant wood. Polished and warm on the palate, with a creamy finish and ripe fruit." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Deep nose of cherry soaked in liqueur with hints of dark cocoa powder. Juicy, supple, deep cherry fruit with a thick layer of fine-grained tannins. Gripping, juicy final. The tannic weight requires more time in the bottle, but the whole is well balanced and the alcohol goes virtually unnoticed. Can age." Jancis Robinson
"This red wine, with its plush texture wrapped in sinewy tannins, shows flavours of black cherries, steeped tea, dried oregano and tea rose. It finishes with a hint of orange peel acidity and rich notes of loamy earth and spice." Wine Spectator
"Tantalising aromas of dried strawberries and raspberries, along with notes of heather-like herbs and dried citrus peel. Full-bodied with beautiful, silky tannins that embrace the fruit and provide length. In fact, this wine is very long, releasing more and more cedar and savoury dried peel for you to enjoy. An excellent 2017 from a top Amarone vineyard." James Suckling
"This single-vineyard Amarone is high in the hills of the Valpantena Valley and opens with aromas of macerated black cherries steeped in anise and clove that then evolve into notes of forest floor and dried herbs. Finesse is driven with a balance between wild plums, savory and oolong tea notes that are guided by the elegant tannins and mouth-watering acidity on the end." Wine Enthusiast
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie 2017 is a dream come true, with a remarkably fresh bouquet of roses, violets, cedar shavings, dusty cherry and sweet smoke. This is elegance personified, with ripe red and black fruits energised by vibrant acidity as candy spices emerge. Minerals add a tactile note towards the end. Balsamic herbs and a hint of mocha resonate, while the 2017 finishes with soft tannins and a slightly bitter aftertaste that underlines the wine perfectly. This child of a warm vintage shows impressive balance and enormous potential for the future. Bury your bottles deep." Vinous

“Vigna il Corno” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016
The strictly selected grapes come from the vineyard "Il Corno" of approx. 400 m altitude with ideal southern exposure. Bright, sparkling ruby red. Well structured nose of blackberries, cassis, some cedar and shoe polish. Medium ripe, quite fresh fruit on the palate, yet supple and well balanced with all the volume. In the rest of the drink with great finesse, coolness and liveliness, the finish is long with well integrated wood, red fruitiness, with a slightly salty vein and lots of spice. A harmonious and well-proportioned top wine of the house, which can rightly bear the highest quality level Gran Selezione. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pure varietal Sangiovese full of elegance and polish; complex nose with lots of fruit and nuances of sandalwood and spices; polished attack with well-structured tannins and minerality, finishes long and balanced." Vinum
"Radiant, dark ruby red with brightening rim. Elegant on the nose with precise, crisp fruit on cherry, plus violets, elder and subtle oak notes. Polished on the palate, with crisp acidity, very well integrated fine tannin, pulls through steely to the final with fine fruit notes." Falstaff
"On the nose the fruit is still a little subdued. Hints of malt. Really takes its time to open up. Bags of sour-cherry fruit on the palate. Lots of juice and fruit, but maintains elegance throughout. Tangy finish with finely ground tannins and jewel-like acidity." Jancis Robinson
"A big, concentrated red marked by black cherry, blackberry, plum and tar aromas and flavors. As this plays out on the gripping finish, the intense flavors are matched by stiff tannins. Long and fresh." Wine Spectator
"This wine absolutely stands out and is poised to evolve carefully over time. The Castello di Radda 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna il Corno is focused and bright with vibrant fruit, cassis, grilled herb and blue flower. Made with Sangiovese only, the wine is true to the grape and to the classic vintage. It remains streamlined and polished on the palate." Wine Advocate
"Vigna Il Corno (‘the horn’) is made with grapes from a plot at 400m on a calcareous clay soil. Fermentation is in 50hl stainless steel tanks, malolactic in new 5hl oak tonneaux, then 24 months in the same casks and an additional 12 months of bottle ageing. Dark, brooding, flinty style on nose, cherries and woodland notes. Refined, slick and smooth, lively with good concentration. Federico Moccia: Red fruit and violet aromas, rose floral notes. Racy, juicy palate with herbal notes, tannins well integrated, cherry and redcurrant juice. Refreshing, with great purity. Michaela Morris: Classic spiced cherry with forest cedar. Still quite sweet-wood driven, but admirable fruit purity on the palate, the oak quite integrated. Concentrated with good tannin backbone, finishes bright." Decanter

“Rosso del Conte” Sicilia Contea di Sclafani DOC 2016
Ruby red, with a fine cherry scent, in which there are also hints of nuts and wild berries, vanilla, cinnamon, sage and tobacco. Concentrated, rich flavour with harmonious tannins and a long, velvety final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. Restrained but balanced nose, appears multilayered although filigree. On the palate very juicy, dense, with clear fruit and tightly meshed enveloping tannin, shows elegant pressure, builds up in many layers, great length and finesse." Falstaff
"Deep crimson ruby. A lifted, perfumed raspberry nose with beautiful concentration, a peppery tingle and perfectly integrated oak. Vibrant, crushed red-berry fruit on the palate with long, finely chiselled tannins. Closes up a little on the finish, so expect much more to come, but right now it is already irresistible. Great balance and very elegant." Jancis Robinson
"This historic wine was Sicily's first single-vineyard bottling, from a five-hectare vineyard planted in 1959 then extended by 1.5 hectares in 1965. During its long history, Rosso del Conte has adopted various maturation mediums, including chestnut, Slavonian oak and, today, French oak. The 2016 - the current release - was fermented in stainless steel tanks before spending 18 months in small new French oak barriques. Perricone's spiciness immediately comes through in both aroma and flavour, bolstered by Nero d'Avola's rich, sticky and plummy fruits, accompanied by streaks of tangy red berries, black cherry and tobacco." Decanter
"This is a really pretty Sicilian red with dried-cherry, smoke, walnut and mushroom aromas and flavors. The sour-cherry character kicks in at the finish." James Suckling
"The 2016 Rosso del Conte lifts up with an intense and heady bouquet of sweet herbs and tobacco, which deepens as notes of exotic spice, medicinal cherry and hints of menthol form in the glass. It’s silky in texture, delivering a stunning mix of tart wild berries, salty minerals and sage that creates a pleasantly savory expression, as tannins slowly saturate toward the close. This tapers off structured and dry, nearly masking notes of blackberry and cacao that echo on through the finale. A towering and powerful vintage for Rosso del Conte that will require cellaring to show its best." Vinous
"The Tasca Conti d'Almerita 2016 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte Tenuta Regaleali is an historic estate blend of Nero d'Avola and Perricone, and it is the latest release of a wine that forever changed the enological future of Sicily by pegging it to a quality-driven production philosophy. The wine is darkly saturated and boasts pretty dark garnet concentration. Both grapes impart a lasting Sicilian imprint on the bouquet with those aromas of toasted fennel, pistachio and black olive that are always associated with this school of winemaking. The wine sits tight and long on the palate, thanks to its generous (but not overdone) full-bodied style." Wine Advocate
