“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2012 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2012, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 7 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
An exceptionally characterful and powerful Nero d'Avola is the Nerosanloré. From a beautiful vineyard in Pacchino, the area of origin of the famous vine. Mineral, vital, ripe, elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep ruby red. Refined, highly complex aromas of blueberries, flint, exotic spices, faded flowers, cumin and cardamom. Bright, juicy and penetrating on the palate, with great mid-palate energy and a brooding quality to the very deep but currently subtle spicy red and blue fruit flavours. It rises impressively on the back palate, which is elegant and perfumed, with soft, fine-grained tannins, a restrained sweetness and a lingering flinty nuance. A remarkably deep, complex NeroSanlorè." VINOUS

“Renaissance” Sauvignon Bianco Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
Sauvignon Blanc Renaissance Riserva is only bottled in the best vintages and is wildly floral and herbaceous with nuances of green apple and ginger. The palate is round and supple with ripe orchard fruits emphasised by salty minerals, while the lively acidity retains a beautiful inner freshness. Here, the aromatic spectrum of the grape variety is expressed in the very best way - it finishes strongly with a spicy note that lingers for a long time. Great Sauvignon cinema! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, light green-yellow in colour. Very expressive nose with notes of grapefruit and pineapple, plus spicy thyme and some tomato green, which adds tension. Fills the palate full, juicy fruit paired with fine spicy notes, radiant and long." Falstaff
"Inviting aromas of minerals and woody notes, then peppers, lemon, apple and plenty of oak on the palate." Decanter
"The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Riserva Renaissance begins with a reductive note of lit matches and pencil shavings. The wine matures in oak and on lees to offer a full-bodied mouthfeel with accents of ripe nectarine, lemon and stone fruit. The reductive note diminishes but does not disappear completely. Only 3,000 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate
"Crushed stone, curry leaves and sage give way to musky dried peaches and apricots as the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Riserva Renaissance blossoms in the glass. It is youthfully coiled and intense, with a dense, silky wave of ripe pit fruit and exotic spices, underscored by salty minerals and savoury spice. The palate is characterised by primary concentration, with a tart lemon zest resonating. The best is yet to come." Vinous
"A wonderful Sauvignon Riserva that benefits from the spectacular microclimate of the Isarco Valley at the foot of the Sciliar. On the nose, notes of white melon, wild rosemary, a hint of cedar and elderflower. Salty on the palate, with a fruity, citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

“Ansari” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2019
The three Tedeschi siblings Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo, who also select the three barrels from which the blend is made each year, give their name to the "Ansari", which is only available in small quantities. Rich bouquet of dried fruit, sultanas, rum pot and chocolate. Firm on the palate with an excellent structure, the opulent fruit centre is joined by balsamic, herbal notes and a piquant bitter note on the long finish. The perfect addition to the famous family winery's top-class Amarone range since the 2016 debut vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep dark ruby with a garnet-red rim. Elegant nose of dark plum, blueberry jam, cold smoke and fine wood spice. Lush and supple, flows over the tongue with great presence into the long final." Falstaff
"A medium- to full-bodied red, with a fragrant waft of eucalyptus and tobacco leaf elements accenting the core of soft cherry, steeped raspberry and singed orange peel notes. This wine's bright, focused flavors are integrated with fine, chalky tannins and tangy acidity." Wine Spectator
"The name is an acronym that reflects the names of the three siblings. Fine, pure fruit with the density and fullness you would expect from an Amarone. Nevertheless, the wine is impressively fresh, characterised by a wonderful acid structure that keeps it light on its feet and gives it a good, juicy length. A paradox of power and balletic detail, almost reminiscent of a Pinot from a warm vintage, so strong are the allusions to red fruit. Dangerously drinkable. An excellent, somewhat modern interpretation of Amarone." James Suckling
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Ansari 2019 needs its time in the glass, initially it is dark and floral with a hint of herbs. When coaxed, an attractive blend of wild berries, violets and gravel emerges. This silky and refined wine impresses with its perfect balance of ripe red and blue fruits, offset by salty minerals and savoury spices. The lively acidity provides a wonderful freshness, while the 2019 finishes structured and long. The grippy tannins linger, leaving the mouth wanting more." Vinous

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO)
Of the four Gulfi-Cru, this is the vineyard closest to the sea, less than 700 metres away and only 10-15 metres above sea level. With vines that grow on sandy soils.
Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving the flavours of red cherries, raspberries, flowers and minerals beautiful definition and lift. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling perfume and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. A beautiful, multi-layered wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich and tangy with some baked cherries, cassis, mulberries, dried flowers and peppercorns. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate with fine, plush tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish." James Suckling
"A blend of crushed plums, rose petals, lavender and Violette pastille creates a deeply seductive bouquet as the 2019 NeroSanloré blossoms in the glass. This is a model of grace and elegance with silky textures, vividly ripe red and blue fruits elevated by sour citrus and a core of stimulating acidity. It finishes long and staining, with sweet tannins that frame the experience beautifully as tangerine and blackberry fade. The 2019 NeroSanloré is to die for; what a gorgeous Nero d'Avola." Vinous

Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2020
Dark fruits on the nose, nuanced with spices, tar, liquorice and wild berries. The mouthfeel is soft and supple with a lasting and silky texture. Here comes a Nebbiolo that exudes character and personality. Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a precise interpretation of the grape, drawing a fine line between elegance and power with ease. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is redolent of crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, white pepper. This mid-weight, nervy Barbaresco has much to offer, especially if the tannins soften a bit. This is the most floral and mid-weight of the Spinetta Barbarescos." Vinous
"Beautiful ripe fruit with citrus and baking spices on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that give the wine tension and structure." James Suckling
"The La Spinetta 2020 Barbaresco Bordini has a spicy note on the first nose, reminiscent of cinnamon and a hint of something darker like crushed cloves. This warm vintage Nebbiolo embraces rich fruit aromas of blackberries and dark currants, and there is an earthy side with rusty nails and potting soil. It finishes with high-toned accents of balsamic herbs or eucalyptus oil." Wine Advocate

“Il Borro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
The top wine from the winery of the same name presents itself in an exemplary manner and as a kind of reference for many other so-called Super Tuscans in the region. Deep ruby red in colour with light red reflections. Dark fruit, spices, herbs, some leather and a fine tarry note on the nose. The flavours then unfold powerfully and concentrated on the palate, yet it glides velvety with a wonderfully balanced acid-tannin ratio into a rich, well-proportioned and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful attack with notes of forest fruits and spices; combines character with elegance, the tannins are fine-grained and interact with the acidity, with a polished final and length." Vinum
"On the nose, sour cherries and blackberries roll around in earth and wild herbs, then spread out on the palate over flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate and espresso. Lively acidity and penetrating spiciness emphasise the earthy saltiness that Il Borro expresses in a unique way. Lush but refined." Wine Enthusiast
"The Il Borro 2019 Il Borro shows very good definition of each of its components. The Syrah brings freshness and lift to the bouquet. The Merlot is aged in botte grande to bring out an authentic taste of the variety with earth and soil. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives firmness and structure. Bigger oak casks are used to help mitigate the alcohol content that, in the case of this wine, comes in at 15%." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and floral with aromas of black cherry and lavender, leading to a medium body with well-integrated tannins that spread nicely across the palate. It becomes silky and beautiful. A hint of smoke and spice at the end. Crisp on the finish." James Suckling

“Brolio Bettino” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM
This red wine in Riserva quality is dedicated to Bettino Ricasoli, who wrote down the grape variety mix of today's Chianti back in 1872. But he was much more than that: twice Prime Minister of the united Italy (1861 and 1866), founder of the daily newspaper "La Nazione", agricultural researcher and "father" of the first Chianti product specification. The creation of this wine interprets his tireless determination to create an independent Chianti style that is both traditional and contemporary to this day.
Chianti Classico Brolio Bettino captivates with a hauntingruby red colour. The intense and inviting aroma of dark fruit is underpinned with fine balsamic notes. The refined flavour is flawless and polished with well-proportioned acidity and perfectly integrated tannins, powerful and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"The very reliable Classico of the house, in this edition in big dust, from Sangiovese in purity. Notes of red cherries, a hint of eucalyptus and cinnamon, with a touch of liquorice powder. Iodised on the palate, with tannins perfectly integrated into the body and a final emergence of cloves and plums." Luca Gardini

“1919” Metodo Classico Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2017 extra brut
1919 is the undisputed top product among Kettmeir's sparkling wines. This is where all the expertise of the South Tyrolean company, which produces using the traditional bottle fermentation method, comes to the fore. The Chardonnay base wine matures in wood, the Pinot Nero in stainless steel tanks. Both base wines are then blended and matured for at least 60 months in the bottle on the fine lees.
The result is a concert for the senses: a complex, multi-layered bouquet of citrus fruit, dried fruit and spices. Bread, smoke and minerals round off the exciting picture. On the palate, we are delighted by the freshness and depth, which never give the impression that there is too much of anything here, but that everything is precisely in its place. Tight tension on the palate, a lively and vibrant personality, flavour, spice and sensuality are combined with a seriousness and room-filling presence that rightly places the 1919 among Italy's great Spumanti. SUPERIORE.DE"Elegant and aromatic, with hints of flower, mango and guava; zesty fruit, bright acidity and citrus on the palate." Decanter

“Ugo Contini Bonacossi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
This impressive red comes from the single vineyard "Vitticciana", which was created by the "Godfather of Carmignano" Ugo Contini Bonacossi especially for a pure Sangiovese wine due to its perfect orientation. It is only produced in the best years, when it presents itself as a multi-layered wine with fine fruit and fine-grained tannins. After a few years of ageing in the bottle, it can easily hold its own with some of the best Brunello di Montalcino. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, medium ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Red sour cherries and pickled plums on the nose, with some verbena and spice in the background. Velvety tannins on the palate, well-balanced, still a little young on the final." Falstaff
"A hint of floral and spicy notes, with beautiful, pure fruit underneath. Very well-managed tannins and a long finish." Decanter
"A hint of dusty spices and pencil shavings accompany the ripe cherry and plum fruit flavours. Juicy and very lively on the palate with medium to full body and firm, metallic tannins that are firmly attached to the finish. Needs time." James Suckling
"The 2018 Ugo Contini Bonacossi, a varietal Sangiovese, evolves in the glass with a rich blend of cherry and plum sauce, accentuated and lifted by hints of sage and sweet mint. This is velvety smooth yet full of zesty energy, with a core of nervous acidity that enlivens its sour red and black berry fruits. The 2018 finishes long and staining yet light on its feet, leaving edgy tannins to resonate as the cheeks pucker with youthful tension. I expect the 2018 to evolve sooner than bigger vintages, but with that said, it is no less pleasurable." Vinous

“Vigneto Grospoli” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Grospoli comes from the vineyard of the same name on ancient terraces, cultivated in the archaic form of the Lamolian alberello. The sandy soils of the Chianti massif, the constant exposure to the wind and the pure light create the ideal conditions for a lyrical and enchanting wine.
Bright ruby red. Impressive bouquet of violets and iris overlapping with notes of small red and black berries, aromatic herbs and sweet spices. On the palate, powerful and of excellent structure, very stimulating also its freshness and spiciness, which spreads into the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Charismatic bouquet of cherries, blossoms and leather; juicy on the palate, vivid acidity that also enlivens the final, notes of red berries on the finish that round off the performance. Shows elegance." Vinum
"Rich ruby red. In the nose first after butter biscuits, then after juicy heart cherries, reminiscent of spruce honey, in the reverberation after raspberries and dried rose petal. On the palate juicy, radiant, shows great nerve in the course, long and with pressure, currently still young, will settle down very well." Falstaff
"A thoroughly delicious Chianti Classico with aromas and flavours of plums, bark and light chocolate. Medium-bodied with round, flattering tannins and a juicy finish. It's all about softness here." James Suckling
"This is a new submission from Lamole di Lamole, located in the mountains behind Greve in Chianti. The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Grospoli is a certified organic Sangiovese that shows medium-bodied density, lovely freshness and consistency. Sourced from a single vineyard, this wine shows clarity and straightforwardness with concentrated aromas of strawberries, ripe raspberries and mineral notes." Wine Advocate
"A pure Sangiovese with notes of black raspberries, then marjoram and carob. The mouthfeel is juicy, with hints of officinal and undergrowth, dense and crisp." Luca Gardini

“Alberelli di Giodo” Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2018
The annual production of this boutique winery on Etna is just 9,000 bottles. At an altitude of 950 metres above sea level, the one and a half hectares of vines are divided into eight tiny plots and have been gradually bought up by the well-known Oenologist. The area is planted with Nerello Mascalese bush vines, which have been spared the phylloxera phylloxera and make their way through the lava-covered terraces. The single vines, which are on average 80 to 100 years old, are cultivated in the traditional, low-bush Alberello style, to which the wine owes its name. Alberelli di Giodo is extremely elegant and flavoursome and represents the minerality and finesse typical of its volcanic growing region to a remarkable degree. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light red; full-bodied, depth of fruit, inviting; juicy attack, depth of fruit, powerful, juicy, full-bodied, good tannin, pleasing." Merum
"Sparkling, brightening ruby colour with garnet rim. Finely characterised nose, with notes of pomegranate and raspberry, fine spice in the background. Lots of fine-meshed, present tannins on the palate, builds up in many layers, salty and profound, very long finish." Falstaff
"The story of Alberelli di Giodo on Mount Etna with winemaker Carlo Ferrini began with the first vintage in 2016. Eight small handkerchiefs, located at an altitude of 700-950 metres, together make up just over one hectare. The valuable vines from the time before the phylloxera plague have survived for 80 to 100 years and are cultivated according to the old Alberello system (bush training) typical of Mount Etna. The wine is fermented and macerated in open steel tanks, with gentle racking, but without pumping over. The wine is bright ruby red in colour, with the smoky and mineral character of Nerello Mascalese, full of restraint with pomegranate and wild strawberry fruit character. Super refreshing thanks to its lively fruit and acidity, it has chewy, velvety tannins on the palate with plenty of youthfulness." Decanter
"The purity of the fruit is here with strawberries, lemon peel and floral undertones. Transitions to cranberry. It's medium-bodied with firm tannins and a bright, lively and linear finish that keeps the palate clean." James Suckling

“Vigna San Marcellino” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Sparkling ruby red colour. Complex and enveloping bouquet of rich cherry, black forest berries, violets, tobacco, tar, liquorice, incense and smoke in the background. The single-vineyard Chianti Classico San Marcellino has an excellent structure, interwoven with lively, elegant tannins, exemplary harmony and a savoury, slightly salty finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Impenetrable dark ruby. I can see the vintage with the oak having a bigger impact on the elegant fruit than is normally the case. That is not to say there isn’t plenty of concentrated black fruit contoured by savoury oak and a touch of undergrowth with just a hint of tar. Long, tangy and generous, with fine, sandpapery tannins. Elegant yet with plenty of stuffing, and ready now." Jancis Robinson
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino 2018 is outstanding. Silky and medium-bodied, the 2018 is a wine with more finesse than power. Dark fruit, coffee, lavender, liquorice, dried herbs and a hint of new oak adorn this exquisite, wonderfully nuanced Gran Selezione. The San Marcellino 2018 is a wine of restraint and understatement." Vinous
"Packed with red berry fruit, sweet spices and mint. Quite full and powerful on the palate and richer than most other 2018s we've tasted." Decanter

“Vigorello” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
Vigorello was created back in 1968 at the beginning of the Super Tuscan movement. It is a powerful yet refined wine that bursts from the glass with unadulterated tones of black fruit, liquorice, rose and dried lavender, Mediterranean herbs and a sweet hint of vanilla. The balance and structure are outstanding and it will develop even more complexity over time. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose mixes juicy plums and violets with dustier aromas of pepper and mocha. Those notes all continue onto the palate, where bright acidity spotlights the fruit and flowers, and chalky tannins underline the more savory flavors on the long and luxurious finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of black cherries and currants with licorice, walnut and dried leaves. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, polished tannins and bright acidity. Toned and focused with a fresh, juicy fruit character and firm, flavorful finish." James Suckling
"The 2019 Vigorello, San Felice's Pugnitello, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot blend is terrific. I especially admire the interplay of dense fruit and energy. Plum, pomegranate, mocha, new leather, spice and dried herbs all build in a sensual, beautifully layered red that delivers the goods." Vinous
"The San Felice 2019 Vigorello is another hit from this leading winery in Castelnuovo Berardenga. The wine reveals an inky dark appearance and a profound bouquet that goes beyond the standard black cherry and spice. This offering also brings on pretty tones of cola, crushed flower, grilled rosemary and sweet crème de cassis. There is freshness and grippy tannins to close. Production is only 6,000 bottles." “Acininobili” Passito Bianco Veneto IGT 2018 dolce
Acininobili Bianco Passito is a stunning interpretation of the indigenous Vespaiola grape, offering impressive depth, complexity and personality. It is a superb dessert wine made from grapes that were air-dried for up to 120 days after harvest and developed Botrytis cinerea during the careful appassimento process. Basically, the same Vespaiola grapes are used here that are used for Torcolato. At the end of the drying process, the grapes that have developed noble rot are hand-selected and passed into this precious wine. If the noble rot does not appear, this wine is not made.
The rare result is truly exceptional with a deep aroma of candied orange peel, maple syrup and golden honey. Monumental and viscous in the drink, this alien elixir coats the palate with smooth and even waves of magnificent intensity. This is grape juice in purezza! SUPERIORE.DE
"Not too sweet, the 2018 Acininobili Bianco Passito is in fact special in its delivery of sweetness versus complexity, with dried fruit, apricot, honey, beeswax and tropical fruit. This viscous, full-bodied expression of Vespaiola shows some light spice and toasted almond." Wine Advocate
"Quite a discreet and restrained nose for this subtle passito. Fine honeysuckle, apricot, pickled kumquat with subtle sultanas and turmeric. Also some wet stones and butterscotch. The palate is supple and silky with a lovely gliding acidity. Great balance with quite a long, lively finish. Quite effortless." James Suckling

“Cuvée Prestige Rosé Edizione 45” Franciacorta DOCG brut
Elegance is the hallmark of the Prestige Cuvée Rosé, which is unfortunately strictly limited each year. The 45th edition consists of 80% Pinot Noir from the 2020 harvest year and 20% Chardonnay in equal parts from the 2019 and 2020 harvest years. Brilliant, bright pink colour. Delicate apricot colour, very light bouquet of peaches, light fruits and sultanas. The persistent flavour is soft and fruity with subtle notes of fresh toast. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweet roses, liquorice, dried strawberries and incense form a seductive bouquet when the MV Extra Brut Rosé Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige 45 Edizione blossoms in the glass. Its minerality is evident in the foreground, perfectly balanced by the plush, massaging bubbles that fade into hints of tart cherries. The finish is dramatically long and reminiscent of red candy, while a strong residual acidity keeps the mouth watering." Vinous
"A firm, mineral rosé with a fine mousse and a detailed flavour palette of dried black cherries and raspberries, chopped almonds and aromatic hints of dried flowers and herbs. There is a salty note on the finish that cleanses the wine." Wine Spectator
"It opens with aromas of wild strawberries, cranberry, fresh brioche and wild rose. Balanced between tart fruits, savory herbs and minerality, the wine dances on the palate with complexity and enjoyability in tandem, finishing with elegance and grace." Wine Enthusiast

Limitation of 12 articles per customer“Archineri” Bianco Etna DOC 2022
The mineral Archineri made from the ancient Carricante grape from vines at an altitude of around 900 metres is quite exquisite. With great clarity and freshness, it displays its typical flavour profile of crushed rock, apple, banana, peach and citrus fruit. Fascinatingly dense on the palate with a velvety texture, a hint of chalk and a long, complex mineral finish. Pre-Phylloxera = from old, ungrafted vines! SUPERIORE.DE
"Fresh, engaging aromas of apple, pear, light-coloured stone fruit and flowers. Very juicy on the palate, wonderfully balanced with good freshness, a silky texture and a savoury final. The white Archineri already delivers consistently high quality for the price." Weinwisser
"Medium bright straw yellow with light reflections. Fine aromas of vineyard peach, mint, salted lemon and a hint of nutmeg on the nose. Very fresh and salty on the palate, straightforward and with a long final of citrus zest and fine minerality." Falstaff
"The 2022 Etna Bianco Archineri smells of a savoury blend of dusty dried flowers, shaved ginger and lime zest. It is round and supple, with a lovely inner sweetness and ripe orchard fruit balanced by a core of palpable minerals. The lively acidity makes for a pleasant final with medium length that leaves a hint of candied citrus and fresh mint." Vinous
"The nose is strongly characterised by citrus and stone fruit, but a subtle floral aroma adds elegance. The palate also begins citrus-driven before deeper, richer flavours of nuts, honey and herbs emerge. The salty finish brings a pleasant, unifying coolness." Wine Enthusiast
"Very pure and mineral nose, giving a stony, precise feel, almost as if you were sniffing in a quarry. Also some smoked tarragon and lemon peel. Impressive tension on the mid-palate with stimulating acidity and minerality. Pure and long. Delicious." James Suckling

“Santo Spirito” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
Brilliant, brightening ruby-garnet colour. Spicy notes of wild berries, liquorice, flint and traces of thyme on the nose. Beguiling extract sweetness on the palate, with a juicy and racy freshness and fine, tight tannins. Fine salty components on the final, already very polished and supple with further interesting ageing potential. Around 4,000 bottles were bottled. SUPERIORE.DE
"Remarkably pretty, the 2020 Etna Rosso Santo Spirito wafts up with a lifted blend of black cherries and dried strawberries, complemented by hints of clove and allspice. It’s soothingly round, with pretty red berry fruits motivated by vibrant acidity as rosy inner florals and licorice tones form toward the close. This tapers off with a classic tannic grip, maintaining fantastic freshness. The 2020 possesses a lovely balance that will carry it through its long and broad drinking window." Vinous
"Captivating minerals, white pepper, mezcal, orange peel and a wild, sulphurous flavour. Really juicy and broad on the palate with firm, powdery tannins that dissolve in the long, savoury finish." James Suckling
"The nose is full of bright, energetic notes of cherry, strawberry and blood orange, but undertones of sage and pencil shavings add depth and nuance. On the palate, a crackle of pepper reveals the bitterness of the orange notes, while structured tannins and bright acidity support the citrus tartness." Wine Enthusiast

Limitation of 4 articles per customer“Nerosanlorè" Nero d’Avola Sicilia IGT 2009 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2009, which is now - in the spring of 2023 - being offered in small quantities with 10 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
An exceptionally characterful and powerful Nero d'Avola is the Nerosanloré. From a beautiful vineyard in Pacchino, the area of origin of the famous vine. Mineral, vital, ripe, elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The bouquet of the 2009 Nerosanlorè exudes sweet aromas of toasted oak and baking spices. This is a very elaborate red wine that shows the craftsmanship and work of the winemaker. The bouquet is complex with aromas of ripe fruit, blackberry compote, tobacco and lots of spices from the long oak ageing. In addition, the wine offers abundant tertiary aromas of liquorice, resin and tar. This is a very attractive red wine that brings all the power and sunshine of Sicily to your glass. At 14.5% alcohol, it has power and determination." Wine Advocate
"Notes of pureed black cherries and dates mingle with dried herbs, mocha and black olive tapenades in this juicy red wine framed by gentle tannins. Harmonious and fresh, with a lingering aniseed-flavoured finish." Wine Spectator
"Beautiful full ruby red. Overripe aromas of black cherries, capers, sun-dried tomatoes and sweet oak lifted by a floral top note. Fat and sweet in the mouth, with a high, liqueur-like quality to the ripe red fruits and salty bottom notes. It finishes with creamy, smooth tannins and excellent length. VINOUS

“Campo San Giorgio” Rosso Conero Riserva DOCG 2018
The Montepulciano vines for this powerful and terroir-rich Montepulciano grow on the Campo San Giorgio vineyard at an altitude of about 150 m on deep, chalky clay soils. The wine is unfiltered and unfined and matures for 12 months in small and large wooden barrels. The label represents the historic design of the Rosso Conero of the 1970s and the impressive result is the calling card of a long family tradition and expertise in viticulture.
Deep dark ruby red with violet and garnet reflections. Very expressive on the nose with a fruity style of cherry, plum, liquorice and herbal spice. Fresh and firm on the palate, the delicate extract sweetness gives it harmony and the silky tannins lead into a warm, very long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark shining ruby red. In the nose of juicy, ripe raspberries and cherries, shows elegant leather spice, cedar wood, a hint of blood orange in the aftertaste. On the palate initially with elegant creaminess, shows racy acidity in fine interplay with tannin and fruit, spans a wide, fine arc, slightly salty in the final." Falstaff
"This has aromas of black fruit, leather, charcoal and toast. Some iodine and grilled herbs. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Charred-wood character at the moment, but it’s long and shows excellent concentration." James Suckling
"With only 6,000 bottles made, the Umani Ronchi 2018 Conero Riserva Campo San Giorgio is a terrific expression of Montepulciano that highlights elegance and persistence. This vintage saw very healthy fruit, and you taste pure tones of plum, blackberry, spice and garden herb. The tannins are etched and graceful, giving the Campo San Giorgio lots of solid support at the back. This is a beautiful wine." Wine Advocate

“Archineri” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
The red Archineri from Nerello Mascalese grapes is full of character and elegance. A very refined bouquet of redcurrants and wild berries, with a hint of dog rose, stone fruit and ethereal aromas. Very exquisite, very juicy, flavoursome and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"A herbaceous, spicy bouquet with Mediterranean culinary herbs such as sage and oregano, followed by floral accents of rose petals and peonies. On the palate, it is compact and almost sparse with a linear structure, which is reinforced by the earthy-mineral character and the supporting tannins, with the typical salty smokiness and fine red fruit on the juicy final." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with a brightening rim. Somewhat closed on the nose, delicate flint with red berry fruit. Barren and stony on the palate, shows a fine saltiness, very young, yet harmonious and balanced, constantly juicy on the final, beautiful length." Falstaff
"A floral, herbaceous bouquet with notes of sage, oregano, tomatoes, roses and peonies. On the palate, a dash of balsamic vinegar and a pinch of pepper add further nuances to the waltz of savoury herbs and flowers. The tannins emphasise the earthiness, while the acidity introduces a fruity element that is both sweet and tart." Wine Enthusiast
"An evolutionary nose of dried roses, figs and baked plums leads to a palate with lively acidity and a hint of rosewater. Exotic, bazaar-like flavours, rich exotic fruit minerality and charming floral fruitiness. Delicate smoke, round texture, fine tannins, juicy bitter cherry finish. Slightly tart." Decanter
"Ripe, spicy nose for an Etna Rosso with lots of orange peel, white pepper, cloves and mandarins. Also some stones and sage. Firm and full-bodied with a mineral texture that lightly coats the palate. Broad-shouldered tannins with a long, mineral finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Etna Rosso Archineri is earthy, dark and brooding, with a youthfully backward bouquet of ashen stones, grilled herbs and dried berries. It is silky smooth, with ripe wild berries accompanied by a hint of blood orange. A salty core of minerality saturates towards the end. This leaves a lingering tension on the palate. The lively acidity tantalises the senses and the fine tannins penetrate deeply, leading to a dramatically long, structured and intense final." Vinous

“Feudo di Mezzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
Bright ruby red colour. Fine bouquet with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, savoury herbs and flint. Then rich and ripe in the mouth, with harmonious, peppery acidity that gives the red and black fruit flavours lift and support. Very complex in the further course, with enormous juiciness and the power and persistence for a very respectable finish and a long life. Only 1,200 bottles were produced. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of ripe plums and clafoutis lead to a good concentration of fruit that is austere at first but promises to open up nicely. Fresh floral notes mingle with spicy complexity, revealing the richness of dark fruits, finely structured with balanced tannins and freshness. A Cate Blanchett-like elegance, followed by a powerful, substantial finish." Decanter
"On the nose, there are mainly aromas of earth, tar, undergrowth and soy sauce, but also tart fruit notes that provide a certain spiciness. On the palate, a pinch of salt and pepper as well as strong tannins and acidity ensure that both the slightly metallic earthiness and the tart fruit elements develop into a multi-layered tapestry." Wine Enthusiast
"Pale to medium ruby-garnet colour. Very mineral nose with gravel, iron, some bitter orange, wild herbs and savoury berries. Huge tannins and high acidity on an austere palate with a full body and a mineral finish. Lots of tension here and yet elegant. A mineral and rather Barolo-like Etna Rosso." James Suckling
"Dusty, floral and slightly spicy, the 2020 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo entices from the first tilt of the glass. It floods the palate with textures of pure silk, complicated by tactile mineral tones and brisk acidity as crunchy red berry fruits cascade throughout. A tart cranberry crunchiness takes hold through the structured finale as violet inner florals slowly fade. This is a simply stunning rendition of Feudo di Mezzo. Bravo." Vinous

“Contrada Rampante” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
Contrada Rampante with a finely woven bouquet of dark red cherries, flowers, mint and liquorice. Fresh and lively on the palate, with a memorable blend of ethereal sweetness, delicate acidity and an interesting salty note. A contemplative wine that requires a certain amount of experience and patience in order to fully discover itself and its deliciousness. Pre-Phylloxera = from ungrafted vines! SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose is simultaneously delicate and earthy, with aromas of dirt, stone and herbs, but also cherry blossoms and cranberries. The palate is defined by a richer, fuller cherry element, but undertones of salt and citrus, along with a powerful electric current of acid, elicit excitement." Wine Enthusiast
"Tar, graphite, dried roses, dark minerals and oranges with just a hint of earthy sweet spices. Structured and full-bodied on the palate with a heap of dusty tannins and a lengthy, cohesive finish." James Suckling
"Hauntingly dark and floral, the 2020 Etna Rosso Rampante smolders up with an array of dusty violets, lavender, cloves and earth tones before giving way to musky black currants. This is sleek and cool-toned in feel, showing its crisp minerality up front as tart wild berry fruits emerge over a core of sour citrus and spice. Structured and long yet still remarkably fresh, the 2020 finishes with dramatic length and concentration, leaving a hint of licorice and saline minerals that pinch at the cheeks. Patience will be required for this strapping Etna Rosso to come to full maturity." Vinous

The Nerello vines grow on a lava soil rich in minerals, the location in the north of the volcano ensures moderate summers with strong temperature fluctuations between day and night.

On the palate, besides its structure, the indescribable balance, the convincing freshness and an ultra-fine tannin delight.
