“Alta Mora Feudo di Mezzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2019
Beautiful red Etna, reminiscent of raspberry tea, lilac, rose petals and cherry blossom. Medium-bodied but deep in flavours, ranging from herbs to orange peel, supported by a firm but velvety and fine-grained structure. Lasting pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby garnet colour with a sparkling core. A nose of sealing wax with fine earthy notes, ripe cranberries, wet stone, smoky aftertaste. Stony feel on the palate, dark and spicy, restrained fruit, but with a lovely salinity on the medium-long final." Falstaff
"On the nose, there are mainly earthy, spicy aromas of stones and herbs, but also notes of cherry, strawberry and bergamot, which provide balance. The palate is rather fruit-orientated, with a pinch of salt as a nuance, while the acidity hovers over finely balanced tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"This vibrant red has a creamy nappa consistency as flavours of dried raspberries and reduced cherries glide over and coat the palate, ensnared by biting acidity and chalky tannins. There's a tarry undertone and a pretty overtone of dried flowers, red liquorice, saffron and pink peppercorns that linger on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Powerful black cherry, plum and baked red fruit flavours are accompanied by fine, ripe tannins that linger. Dense and quite closed at the moment, it needs time to reveal its full colours." Decanter
"A hint of tequila-like herbal freshness with minerals, dried roses, white pepper, graphite and grapefruit. Taut and juicy on the palate with assertive, dusty tannins. Fine-grained and long." James Suckling

“Piaggia” Carmignano Riserva DOCG 2020
Piaggia Riserva is pure elegance in a bottle: clear ruby red colour, almost impenetrable, very consistent. Raspberry compote, dried orange peel, roses, exotic spices and a hint of cocoa on the deep bouquet. Silky and refined on the palate, with notes of violets, ripe red and black fruit in rapid succession. Its lively acidity retains exceptional finesse, although the primary fruit slowly asserts itself. Finishes long with a layer of sweet tannins and balsamic cherry flavours. Its finesse and balance are already astonishing at a young age, and the best will only come in a few years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour with a violet hue. Expressive nose, lots of ripe plums, some grilled peppers, subtly leathery. Blackberry and dark chocolate on the palate, crisp acidity, rich tannins, builds pressure, lingering final." Falstaff
"The 2020 Carmignano Riserva Piaggia impresses with its understated power, unfolding with a delicate blend of dried roses and black cherries, complemented by cedar spice and hints of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is pure elegance, seamless and silky, with a depth of red and blue fruit flavours that are lapped up by vibrant acidity. A web of fine tannins envelops the senses with youthful serenity as the 2020 finishes incredibly long and colourful, lingering notes of white pepper, liquorice and violet flowers. This is a dark and radiant beauty. The 2020 is a real head-turner." Vinous

“Bauda” Nizza Riserva DOCG 2017
Only in the best vintages are some plots of Olim Bauda's vineyards in the Nizza DOCG selected for the Riserva Bauda, in order to press one of the greatest wines of the entire appellation, which is still very young. The wait was clearly worth it. Strong purple red. Complex bouquet of red fruits with an almost haptic texture and a terrific harmony of fruit, typicity and acidity that perfectly combines the winemaker's long-proven Barbera expertise and the class of the Nizza DOCG. Not only for us an absolute archetype for grape variety and origin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Nizza Riserva Bauda shows just how compelling top-flight Barbera can be in Asti. Blueberry jam, herbs, menthol, licorice and mocha infuse the 2017 with tons of depth. The Bauda is a rich, heady wine, but it also avoids the excess heaviness that can sometimes be an issue in this region. There's a ton of richness, and yet the 2017 is not at all overdone. Give this a few years in bottle and then enjoy over the following decade. In a word: exquisite." Vinous

“Anrar” Pinot Nero Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2020
The South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Riserva Anrar is fresh and light on the palate with wild berries and cassis, followed by dried mint and lavender flavours. This red wine fermented in steel and matured in barriques is silky and smooth, almost without rough edges. Cantina Andriano Kellerei Andrian works with a skilful hand when it comes to Pinot Noir, preserving the nuanced elegance of the grape variety's aromas. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very clear in colour and aroma with a contoured fruity body and typical Pinot aromas. Finely woven and full of finesse on the palate with marvellous cherry notes, red flowers, fine-meshed tannins, good length. A very fragrant Pinot. Bravo!" Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with a garnet-red rim. Nose of cherries and raspberries, then slightly smoky from the wood maturation. Mouth-filling on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and a long, fruity final." Falstaff
"This Pinot Noir is expressive from the start, opening with aromas of fresh red berries, sweet baking spices and forest floor. On the palate, the wine takes shape with an elegance that belies its youthfulness, while the flavours of cherry, clove, vanilla and fresh earth work together harmoniously on the lively finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Riserva Anrar 2020 comes straight from the land of sweets and immediately reveals aromas of cherry lollipops and watermelon. On the second nose, the flavours become spicy, with sandalwood. The wine is fluid with an interesting evolution, and there is a hint of grilled herbs or pressed rose on the finish." Wine Advocate

The Nerello grapes (100% Mascalese) come from the northern slope of Etna from plots in the Contrada Dafara Galluzzo in the Rovittello district. Opens in a delicate ruby red colour, then fine, heady, spicy on the nose, revealing a pretty basket of red fruits after a few minutes of aeration. Initially closed on the palate, only gradually revealing its flavour facets, then medium pressure in the middle, with a very fine structure and almost Burgundian finesse and elegance. The finish is harmonious and of excellent length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Quite light red; shrubby-fruity, appealing; subtle jammy fruit, sweetness, quite tart, not dry tannin." Merum
"Here is a submission from Benanti, which comes from a rather unknown contrada. The 2021 Etna Rosso Contrada Dafara Galluzzo is located in Castiglione di Sicilia on the north side of the volcano. The wine shows a medium-light appearance with spicy volcanic notes of ash and bonfire, surrounded by delicate fruit, sour cherry and cassis. The wine has fine tannins with dusty impressions resulting from the volcanic environment. This gives the wine an approachable personality." Wine Advocate
"Aromatic and bright with notes of orange peel and watermelon, but also some cherry. Medium-bodied, with firm and medium-soft tannins that are long and flattering." James Suckling
"The 2021 Etna Rosso Contrada Dafara Galluzzo is exotic and floral, with hints of ash stone and dusty rose that fade into dried black cherries. Silky and smooth, it flows across the palate with a pure blend of red and blue fruits, fuelled by juicy acidity. The final is structured and long, yet perfumed, allowing violet and lavender tones to fade away on a bed of fine-grained tannins. The Dafara Galluzzo is a real charmer for which further ageing is recommended." Vinous
"The bouquet is restrainedly sweet, with dried cherries and fresh and preserved oranges supported by vanilla and baking spice notes, while herbs and earth provide a savoury balance. The blend of cherries, oranges and baking spices continues on the palate, like a warm pastry, before a tart, salty and peppery finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Nose of wild flowers and red cherries. Dense, silky-textured palate. Plenty of tannins but fine, adding a chalky grip to the finish." Decanter

“Mathias” Sauvignon Bianco Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2021
The Sauvignon Blanc vines for this complex Riserva in small quantities (approx. 3,000 bottles) grow on grey porphyry and sandy-limestone rock flour in the "Kathreinerfelder" vineyard in Fiè allo Sciliar. Lemon yellow in colour with warm reflections. Complex bouquet of flint, preserved lemon, passion fruit, ripe apricot and melon. On the palate, the top Sauvignon of the house presents itself with depth, precision, minerality and a long, ripe finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright golden yellow with a sparkling centre. Intense flavours of pineapple, papaya, gooseberry and green pepper on the nose, with a hint of white pepper. Direct on the palate, with beautiful juiciness and a mineral note, fresh until the long final." Falstaff
"The sweetly scented 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Riserva Mathias opens with candied citrus, minty herbal tones and traces of sweet smoke. It sweeps across the palate with lifted textures and ripe tropical melon tones guided by zesty acidity. This finishes with admirable length yet wildly fresh. Chamomile hints leave the mouth watering for more." Vinous
"Beautiful nose with notes of glazed pineapple, grapefruit pith, honeysuckle spices and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and tense with vivid acidity. Rich and concentrated fruit that comes with freshness and mineral tension on the mid-palate. Flavorful and long." James Suckling

“Case Via” Syrah Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
Strong dark ruby. Pepper and spice accents, aromas of ripe red and dark fruits and a slightly animal note characterise the precise aroma. The perfect balance between tannin, silky elements and the acidity guarantee a characterful and pithy taste. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a drop of violet. In the nose still considerably reductive, needs a lot of time to come out of the glass, then notes of ripe plums and violets, delicate ink. On the palate very full-bodied, with dark fruit and lots of melting, spreads out richly, currently still very young, needs time." Falstaff
"The 2018 Syrah Case Via is ample and generous in the glass. Super-ripe blackberry, chocolate, spice, leather and cloves fill out the layers effortlessly. This deep, fleshy Syrah has much to offer. The 2018 was done with fully destemmed fruit and spent 18 months in French oak, 30% new." Vinous
"With a mere 3,000 bottles made, the organic Fontodi 2018 Syrah Case Via is ripe, concentrated and extremely savory in terms of its aromas. This vintage reveals loads of bacon fat and musky leather that you often get with Syrah in the warmest growing seasons. Chewing tobacco, riding boots, potting soil and dark fruit all rise heavily from the bouquet. There are two sides to the mouthfeel: Although it is moderate in length, the wine shows lots of soft texture on the mid-palate and closes quickly with a 15% alcohol content." Wine Advocate
"Black fruit, soy sauce, spices and dried herbs on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm tannins. Structured and racy. Juicy and smoky with a flavorful, tannic finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink in 2024 when the tannins will have softened slightly." James Suckling

Rosso Arcurìa Etna DOC 2019
Etna Rosso in light ruby and with a fine bouquet of raspberries, herbs, orange peel and flint. Firm, straightforward taste. Mineral hints corresponding to the terroir. Silky tannins and a fresh finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Warm light red; fruity, fine ripeness, deep; juicy, fine tart attack, depth, then pronounced length with powerful tannin." Merum
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Arcuria is smoky and earthy in style, wafting up with vivid aromatics, featuring freshly picked strawberries, plum skins, rose hips and wet stone. This is texturally deep, silky-smooth and more savory than sweet, with mineral-infused red and hints of blue fruit, as well as balsam herbs that resonate toward the close. It finishes lightly structured with a minty freshness, as well as with a bitter tinge of cherry pits and spice. The 2019 Arcuria is so pretty today that it’s hard to recommend cellaring; yet with the balance on display here, the chances are that it will only get better over time." Vinous

“Contrada Feudo di Mezzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2019
Wonderful single-vineyard Nerello from the north side of Etna at an altitude of 750 metres. Cherry and small wild strawberries on the nose. Very clearly accentuated and fresh flavour, acidity and tannin in perfect harmony and well integrated. Long finish with impressive elegance and freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, hints of mustard seeds, dried rose petals, raspberries, ripe cherries and delicately resinous tones, reminiscent of plaster on the finish. Hearty on the palate with tightly woven tannins, powerful, stony, with a polished red fruit final, currently still somewhat unbalanced." Falstaff
"Herbal and summer meadow scents accompany balsamic red and black cherries, while in the mouth it's earthy and floral, with a juicy sapidity of ripe red fruits, a soft, silky mid-palate and fine, integrated tannins. Vertical and elegant, it finishes with some lavender and milk chocolate on the finish." Decanter
"It has flavours of strawberry, orange peel, raspberry and chocolate orange, with some oyster shells. It is medium-bodied and flavoursome with firm, fine-grained tannins. Subliminal mineral restraint. It is just opening up." James Suckling
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo is dense and concentrated with volcanic tones of scorched earth and dark fruit. The wine has a bright primary side of crushed cherries and blueberries, and it fills out nicely across the palate thanks to the mid-weight texture of this supple fruit. Floral notes of rose and iris are also evident. This vintage has something to offer now, and it will offer even more for those who choose to wait." Wine Advocate

“Le Baròncole” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Le Baròncole Riserva captivates already in the bouquet with juicy fruit and stone fruit aromas and continues this beautiful impression on the palate. Cherry, sour cherries, blackberries, very juicy and powerful in appearance, fills the palate completely, but always remains lively and elegant. Silky, fine-grained tannins and a long, balsamic finish make you want to drink the next glass. Good substance. Good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"An opulent style, featuring ripe black cherry, blackberry and earth flavors, with hints of chocolate and spices. A beefy layer of tannins shores up the finish, yet this is also vibrant and long." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baròncole is fabulous. What a wine. The 2020 is by far one of the most impressive Baròncoles I have ever tasted. I find the purity of the fruit unreal. Rich and structured, with tremendous depth, the 2020 is developing into a jewel of a wine. Even in the early stages, all the elements are so well put together, which is especially evident when compared to the rather unruly 2019." Vinous
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baròncole (a certified organic wine) shows bright fruit with summer cherry and redcurrant. It offers textural heft and weight. Its Riserva status (with extended aging) is well noted. With time in the glass, it unfolds to leather, potting soil and crushed stone. This vintage does however show a more accessible personality overall." Wine Advocate

Amarone Classico is made from grapes grown in the vineyards of the classic Valpolicella area at the entrance to the Marano Valley. The drying process of the carefully selected grapes takes around 120 days. After fermentation, the wine matures for at least 3 years in wooden barrels.
Dark cherries, plums, smoke, mint, liquorice, sweet herbs and crushed rose petals swirl around in the glass as the wine gradually opens up. Lively and lively, it is characterised by an expressive and well-defined personality and seriousness. For all its depth, it is an almost weightless Amarone, built on finesse and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Fine wood on the nose, sweet cherry, juicy citrus fruit, very inviting and with fine floral nuances on the finish. Medium-bodied on the palate, shows good juiciness, violet flavour, surprisingly light-footed." Falstaff
"Inviting aromas of cherry jam, exotic spices, dried violets and cocoa powder swirl in the glass of this well-crafted Amarone. Rich and lush ,the wine is mouth filling but the tart red-berry and sour-plum flavors balance the wine along with crunchy acidity that leads to a savory and earthy finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of dried berries and pressed flowers follow through to a full-bodied palate with a relaxed, fruity mouthfeel at first. Then some solid tannins firm up the finish." James Suckling
"The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens slowly with a blend of dried cherries, wild herbs and crushed ashen stone. Its textures are silky and pure, with mineral underpinnings that excite the senses as spicy red fruits cascade across the palate. A salty flourish creates a distinctly savory style through the finish, as grippy tannins add youthful poise." Vinous

“Vinalia” Goldmuskateller Passito Alto Adige DOC 2020 dolce
Named after the ancient Roman wine festivals, Passito Vinalia is a sweet dessert wine that goes particularly well with South Tyrolean apple strudel. The strictly selected grapes, which are air-dried after the harvest, come from the sun-drenched vineyards on the slopes of Bolzano at 300 to 400 metres above sea level. They are gently pressed around 4 months after the harvest and then fermented in used French barriques.
Golden yellow with amber-coloured nuances, the nose is captivated by the aroma of ripe apricots, pineapple, sugar melons and peaches, as well as candied exotic fruits. The flavour is impressively opulent with a very refreshing and harmonious acidity. A masterpiece! SUPERIORE.DE

“Avvoltore” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018
Elegant Sangiovese, refined with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Deeply dark and with a terrificbouquet, strongly fruity, concentrated and soft on the palate with slightly spicy and vegetal hints. The brilliant final of this savoury and juicy Maremma classic is highly individual and captivating every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, sparkling ruby red colour. On the nose, red peach, cranberries, some watermelon, fragrant and floral nuances, cinchona bark, black tea. Juicy on the palate, with a radiant, warm-hearted fruit centre, with noble earthy tones, precise, on noble notes of tea and cranberries, salty undertones, great!" Falstaff
"The 2018 Avvoltore is a very pretty, polished wine, perhaps a little less opulent than it could be, but not in a bad way. The lighter style of the year allows the Sangiovese to come into its own. Dark fruits, leather, liquorice and spices develop beautifully and become more and more persistent until the long finish. This wine is wonderfully successful." Vinous
"This mellow version exhibits plum, cherry, iron, Mediterranean scrub and resin flavors. Muscular yet balanced, offering beefy tannins in line with the lively acidity and sweet fruit. Fine length." Wine Spectator

“Maestro Raro” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2018
Maestro Raro shines first with its lively colour and then impresses with a bouquet that reveals a wonderful blackberry scent after spices, leather and tobacco aromas. The concentrated taste spreads softly, in which a stable acid structure cooperates perfectly with the tannin structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet. In the nose noble spicy note, after cassis and elderberries, carried by cloves and a hint of red pepper. Spicy on the palate with a slight peppery-animal note, very warm, has tension throughout and comes back juicy on the final." Falstaff
"The currant character is supercharged with wood and bark highlights. It’s full-bodied with lots of blackberry and blackcurrant undertones. Chewy and firm. Needs time to open." James Suckling
"The 2018 Maestro Raro is dense, powerful and rich. As always, Maestro Raro is a decidedly Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon. Black fruit, leather, spice and smoke are front and center. This burly Cabernet is a bit angular, but it certainly has plenty of character." Vinous
"This is an exacting and powerful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Tuscany. The Fèlsina 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Maestro Raro always stands out in a crowd, and it definitely stands apart in this portfolio. The wine is sultry and rich in personality, sporting tightly wrapped tannins that will need time to soften and unwind. At its core, the wine shows concentrated black fruit flavors, but there are hints of spice, baker's chocolate and smoky tobacco that add to the complexity and the aromatic lift of the bouquet." “Occhio di Pernice” Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC 2009 dolce
The grapes are dried on straw mats for 4 months, followed by slow fermentation, which is interrupted in winter due to the temperature. Bright ruby red colour with elegant golden reflections. Aromatic bouquet of great breadth and complexity with characteristic notes of dried fruit, honey and various spices. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lots of saffron, toffee, and salted caramel followed by a hint of sesame oil. The concentrated and generous palate is supported by bright acidity. Persistent finish with citrus blossom undertones." James Suckling

“Caterina Zardini” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2018
Beautiful Amarone Riserva with well-proportioned flavours of ripe dark fruit and noble notes of leather, spices and sweet tobacco. It is dense and full-bodied with remarkable depth, breadth and purity on the palate. An opulent wine with a long and very harmonious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Acute aromas of dried cherries and berries, with spicy and earthy, nutty notes. Full-bodied with a regal structure of velvety fruit and oak tannin, supporting plenty of spicy dried-fruit flavor. Concentrated and intense with a long, long finish. This will age nicely for many a year, despite already being approachable now." James Suckling

“Eneo” Rosso Costa Toscana IGT 2021
Eneo is supposed to be the "Grand Vin" of Montepesolo, the Italian answer to the globalisation of wines. And Eneo can do that. The blend of indigenous grape varieties, with Sangiovese and Montepulciano clearly in the foreground, unmistakably expresses its terroir and is understood worldwide in the process. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegantly bright ruby red. Pronounced on the nose with aromas of juicy mulberries and blackberries, rose petals, underpinned by a hint of nutmeg. With soft but precise fruit on the palate, tense, tight tannin, long finish." Falstaff
"Lovely perfumes of flowers, fresh plums and red berries with some stones. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins that blend into the wine. Finely pixelated. Just a hint of bitterness at the end." James Suckling
"The 2021 Eneo is superb. Bright and effusive, with tons of explosive energy, the 2021 is shaping up to be a gem. Crushed flowers, blood orange, cinnamon, cedar and spice are all finely delineated in an Eneo that exudes balance. Clean mineral notes extend the finish effortlessly. I very much admire the vibrancy here, something that is hard to achieve in this district of Suvereto." Vinous

“Contrada Pianodario” Rosso Etna DOC 2016
Tasca was involved in Etna at an early stage and the latest result of this many years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante winery: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their strength, acidity and tight tannin very elegant, rich in finesse and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine due to the altitude, soil and morphology of the historical lava flows. A high annual rainfall secures all water reserves for the soil, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the variety of aromas of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Pianodario plot is situated at an average altitude of 775 metres above sea level between the hamlet of Montelaguardia and Randazzo. It covers an area of about 8 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"One of three new single-vineyard wines introduced by Tasca's Tascante, the 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Pianodario comes from the western-most parcel located between Montelaguardia and Randazzo. These are relatively new vines, planted in 2010, in soils representing various lava flows, the oldest in 1646 and the newest in 1981. This is a bright and accessible wine with pretty tones of wild berry and dried pomegranate followed by candied orange and pressed violets. It will no doubt be exciting to follow this wine as those vines get, proverbially speaking, older and wiser. Some 5,000 bottles were made." Wine Advocate

“Contrada Sciaranuova” Rosso Etna DOC 2016
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are delicate and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Sciaranuova parcel is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of about 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby and the most youthful looking of the four single-contrade wines of this vintage. Quite deep red-fruit nose with hints of bacon and a note of oak. This is the one that is the most obviously oaked. Wonderful succulent fruit with a bit of oak that supports rather than distracts. Serious grainy tannins and a little demanding and still a little rough, but extremely fine-perfumed fruit finish." Jancis Robinson
"Good full red. Deep musky, ripe red cherry and strawberry aromas are characterized by a mineral undertone. Then also mineral on entry, but turns just slightly tough in the middle and on the long back end that features similar flavors to the aromas. There's good sweetness here, and the stony nuances add further lightness of being to what is essentially a medium-bodied, easygoing red wine." Vinous
"Lovely nose of wild berry, autumn leaves and tar noted aroma. Crunchy red berry texture, grippy with soft woody notes." Decanter
"The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova is made with fruit from vines planted in 2008 at 730 meters above sea level. This is a classic expression from Etna with an even dose of wild berry, rose, mineral and spice. This wine shows an attractive level of balance and harmony, and I am especially attracted to those distinctive volcanic or mineral tones that frame this delicate, almost fragile wine. This Etna Rosso is mostly aged in large Slavonian oak casks, but a small part goes into 300-liter tonneaux. This adds a bit more volume and girth to the finish. Production is 5,000 bottles." “Ansari” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2017
Ansari is the new star in the Tedeschi Amarone firmament. Just 6,600 bottles were produced from the debut vintage in 2016. It is named after the three Tedeschi siblings Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo, who also select the three barrels from which the blend is made each year.
Rich bouquet of dried fruit, sultanas, rum pot and chocolate. Firm on the palate with an excellent structure, the opulent fruit centre is joined by balsamic, herbal notes and a piquant bitter note on the long finish. The perfect addition to the top-class Amarone range from the famous family winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"This new, limited production wine is the result of a super-selection of grapes from three sites. Long appassimento and evolution in Slavonian oak barrels make for a style which is big, rich and benchmark traditional, with up-front dried fruit and sweet spice on the nose and warm, glossy roundness on the palate." Decanter
"The Tedeschi 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Ansari shows a slightly milky personality with sweet cherry fruit, surrounded by white chocolate and candied almonds." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Ansari is dark and rich in the glass with an intoxicating bouquet of crushed cherries, rosemary, mocha and sweet tobacco. The palate shows a beautiful inner sweetness contrasted by a wave of tart red fruits and exotic spices, taking on a bitter hint of sour citrus towards the finish. The 2017 finishes incredibly long, leaving a hint of primary concentration along with angular tannins that promise many more years of development. " Vinous
"Incredibly dense aromas and flavours of fresh and dried black fruits, including currants, crushed berries, dates and passion fruit, along with notes of perfumed bark and walnuts. Full and fruity with a very fine tannin structure that drives the complex fruit flavours. Very long finish. Despite the 17.5% alcohol indicated on the bottle, it shows remarkable control. So drinkable now, but it should also age very well." James Suckling

Sangiovese di Vitigliano Toscana IGT 2015
Vignamaggio's Sangiovese di Vitigliano is dark, expressive and complex. Complex bouquet of dark flowers, some pepper, leather and herbs. In the drink voluminous and straightforward with many nuances, fresh and with the Sangiovese typical acid wire. The full, firm body and the wonderfully present fruit flank its elegant, spicy finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shows a good combination of richness and finesse from the get-go, sporting nuances of dark cherries, fresh herbs, red licorice, cedar and orange peel. Medium to full body, firm yet generous tannins, a good helping of round fruit and a savory, tangy finish." James Suckling
"Vignamaggio's 2015 Sangiovese di Vitigliano is dark, expressive and beautifully layered. Lavender, spice, leather and menthol wrap around a core of succulent dark cherry fruit. Plump and forward, with plenty of nuance, the 2015 has a lot to offer. This is an especially bold, potent style, but it works well. I would give the 2015 at least a few years in bottle to allow the tannins to soften." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Rose petals, mint, cinnamon, dark sweet cherries and smoke lift from the glass in a translucent, wiry Brunello that builds on energy, power and opulence. Here, length and fruit are in the foreground and, together with a clearly defined tannin structure, Leopoldo Franceschi's team has produced a wine here in a very classic vintage that will really reveal itself over the next few years. As always, it is one of our favourites, and its still outstanding value is also great fun! SUPERIORE.DE
"Wide-ranging bouquet with lots of cedar, ripe red and dark fruits, wild strawberries, cassis and red currants. Behind this, the wood barrel ageing also shows with fine cedar, cloves and dark spices as well as herbs. Rich, almost meaty and dense palate, not quite as dense as 2016, but immensely present freshness and dynamism, also the tannin network seems a bit leaner than usual and of best quality. Very persistent and long aftertaste with crunchy berries on the final." Weinwisser
"Firm, a touch animalic aroma of ripe mixed berries and a hint of plums with fleshy notes, tart nutty hints, pepper and ethereal herbal tones. Taut, tart, ripe, quite dense fruit, present, fine, youthful tannin and some acid bite, persistent, slightly herbaceous, tobacco and peppery, clearly salt in the background, plenty of power but also freshness, not eternally deep but perfectly vinified, very good, firm, tart finish." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby red. Spicy-animalic nose, then ripe Amarena cherry and plum, walnut, undergrowth, shoe polish. On the palate equally earthy tones, wide-meshed tannin, plus dark fruit." Falstaff
"Shiny, deep ruby red. In the nose still quite closed with just a hint of Moroccan leather. On the palate pure cherry fruit flavours with lots of ripe acidity. Fantastic, compact, gravelly tannins that are a real tour de force in this vintage. A hedonistic whole that you can already approach but will improve with time." Jancis Robinson
"A smoky entry leads to leather and tobacco nuances that repeat on the palate. The 2018 is packed with flavours of cherries and baking spices. It feels medium-bodied but is very rich and its powerful bite contributes positively to the pleasing mouthfeel. It will get even better with another year in bottle." Decanter
"This is a flavourful, complex Brunello with aromas of fresh and sour cherries, plums, bay leaves, rosemary and olives. Also cloves and liquorice. It is medium to full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins. Supple and well integrated, with a long and deliciously spicy finish." James Suckling
"The Il Poggione 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows a dark and spicy character with more fruit weight and concentration than can be found in many of its competitors. This wine shows a dense focus padded with dark cherry, blackberry, roasted spice, mahogany smoked meat and ploughed earth. Despite the powerful flavours, this Sangiovese is actually quite lean and polished in texture. The tannins are soft and easily accessible. The estate's Riserva Vigna Paganelli was not made in 2018, so the fruit from this wine came here instead." Wine Advocate
"The dense structure sets the pace for this red wine, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, mint and tar that are appealing and expressive. Rosehip, orange peel and earth are evident in the long, expansive aftertaste. It is designed to last a long time." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino impresses from the first swirl of the glass, with a heady burst of exotic spices and crushed ash giving way to dried black cherries and grilled herbs. It combines the energy of the vintage with the dark, balsamic fruits of Montalcino's southern foothills, while zesty acidity maintains balance and minerals saturate towards the finish. The finish is long, savoury and structured, but its tannins are rounder than expected, giving it a classic feel but also leaving a delicious sensation that tempts the taster to reach for the glass again and again. The 2018 is certainly one of the top wines of the vintage, not to be missed." Vinous
"One of the first wineries to deal in Brunello, one of the founding members of the Consortium. A Brunello characterised by freshness, pomegranate on the nose, hints of citrus thyme and white pepper. The palate has juicy tannins with a fruity return." Luca Gardini
