“Calderara Sottana Bellacolonna 20 anni” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
Marc de Grazia on his anniversary wine: "To honour the collective effort of the entire Tenuta delle Terre Nere team, I thought it appropriate to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our first release with a unique cuvée. This cuvée should represent our appellation and our winery and say something about our beginnings. Therefore, first and foremost, it should be an Etna Rosso, as this is our most important appellation. Secondly, the wine should be made from Calderara Sottana grapes, as our winery and the surrounding vineyards are located in Contrada Calderara Sottana, where we also have our largest expansions. However, it should not be confused with our Calderara Sottana bottling, which is made from the best fruit of exclusively old vines from all our Calderara estates.
I therefore decided to produce a cuvée from a single, particularly gifted vineyard in Calderara, called Bellacolonna. I chose it not only because of its excellent quality, but also because we planted our first vineyards here in 2006 and 2007, after sadly uprooting plots of semi-abandoned and decaying old vines. We made our beautiful cuvée from the fruit of these vines. It has the privilege of coming from an exceptionally good vineyard and at the same time the good fortune of being born in an outstanding vintage.
It has been aged in new oak (which I think is perfectly appropriate for a wine made from young vines) and has been given the same ageing time as our crus. I would say it has real charm; more stylish than our Etna Rosso with a depth and character reminiscent of our Calderara Sottana (apart perhaps from the extra layers that old vines provide). It was born elegant and will become even more subtle with age; it has the weightless composure of youth and the promise of even greater finesse in the future. It is indeed a wine that I am very proud of and that longs to epitomise all that is Tenuta delle Terre Nere."
"Vibrant and intense, a burst of autumnal spice, dusty rose and blood orange gives way to dried strawberries as the 2022 Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana Bellacolonna blossoms in the glass. The wine is simply stunning. On the palate, it shows crunchy wild berries and mineral notes carried by a zesty acidity. It leaves a hint of primary concentration and silky tannins that linger into the violet-coloured final, while a hint of candy spice slowly fades. The Bellacolonna comes from a selection of young vines planted in 2006 and 2007 in the Cru Calderara Sottana." Vinous
"This is a special bottling for the 20th anniversary of the estate. It has depth and intensity with a medium to full body, a creamy stone and basalt texture, red fruits and a mushroom and bark undertone. The linear, vivid finish goes on and on. Needs time to open. Be patient." James Suckling

Donnafugata's "Dolce & Gabbana" Limited Edition represents the collaboration between two iconic brands that are recognised beyond the country's borders as ambassadors of Sicilian culture and Italian excellence. The joint commitment of these two companies to elegance, craftsmanship and creativity brilliantly reinterprets this historic cuvée of the winery. To mark the occasion, Tancredi has been given an exclusive Dolce & Gabbana label since the 2018 vintage, with an aesthetic that pays homage to both Italy's baroque-aristocratic tradition and the revolutionary values that emerged in Sicily after the country's unification.
This noble Sicilian is mainly made from Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter enriching the aroma spectrum with a subtle minty facet. In addition, the bouquet is refined by sweet mineral graphite, tones of liquorice, cocoa, sour cherries and blueberries. The excellent, broad and enveloping flavour structure is confirmed in the final of considerable length. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Dolce & Gabbana Tancredi seduces with a burst of black currants, wild blueberries, oak spice, mentholated herbs and cloves. This is pure and elegant in style with underlying power in reserve. Masses of ripe red and black fruits saturate, leaving a mineral staining as fine-grained tannins penetrate toward the close. The 2020 cleans up beautifully through the finish, structured and classically dry with a tart blackberry crunch and hints of pepper that linger on. Have patience with this understated beauty." Vinous

“Feudo di Mezzo Il Quadro Delle Rose” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
Feudo di Mezzo Il Quadro Delle Rose smells of roses and small red berries. It is a heavy, tannic wine that requires a little patience, but finds its balance with time. A wine of exceptional finesse and great intellect. SUPERIORE.DE
"The rose-coloured and perfumed 2022 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo opens with a lovely bouquet that blends dried flowers with crushed strawberries and a hint of lavender. It displays textures of pure silk with an elevated and refined feel. Tart wild berries give it a beautiful inner tension. A web of fine-grained tannins frames the experience as the 2022 tapers off with a pickling length and a tart cranberry concentration." Vinous
"This is really structured with plenty of muscular tannins that flex, giving you fruit underneath. Seemingly born fully formed from dark and brooding soil, it goes on for minutes." James Suckling

Santo Spirito is a wonderfully complex wine that always remains in balance. It combines firmness, strength, structure and density with the flavours of dark cherries, pomegranate, blood oranges and spicy herbal notes and concludes with a furiously long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Opening like a basket of wild berries with dusty flowers and sweet lavender, the 2022 Etna Rosso Santo Spirito is a real treat on the nose. The style is bright and pure, with ripe raspberries and blueberries mingling over a core of vibrant acidity. It is long and structured, yet remarkably fresh, leaving a subtle coating of primary concentration and fine tannins that slowly fade away. The Santo Spirito remains one of the most appealing wines in Terre Nere's portfolio, offering beautiful depth, concentration and structure in a beautifully balanced package." Vinous
"This has dark fruits, sliced mushrooms and crushed stone with terra-cotta and red-earth character in both the nose and palate. Deep citrus turns very perfumed and intense. Full and powerful with chewy tannins that extend to the finish. Needs time to soften." James Suckling

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Moganazzi” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
Here is a fairly new single-vineyard wine, similar in style to Santo Spirito, but with an "autumnal" component. Light ruby red in colour, with a nose of gravel, vanilla and a subtle hint of mint, plus some cranberry, cherry, nutmeg and mocha. Fresh and exciting on the palate with a sweet and sour component and a delicately bitter vein. Compact tannin that certainly deserves a few more years in the bottle. The final is herbaceous, spicy and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Etna Rosso Moganazzi is floral and airy, with hints of candy spices and chalk dust that fade into dried black cherries. The wine is round and supple, with a lavender-coloured mix of red and blue fruits, all lapped up by lively acidity. The grippy tannins emerge on the final as the 2022 tapers long and perfumed. A hint of violet candy emphasises the experience wonderfully." Vinous
"So perfumed and dreamy with flowers, citrus and hints of stone. Medium-bodied, this has fine tannins and lovely fruit in the caressing center-palate. The fresh, vivid finish ends with a bit of muscle." James Suckling

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2014 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. Nerosanloré 2014 comes from this "private reserve", which will now - in spring 2023 - be offered in small quantities in Riserva quality with a further 5 years of bottle ageing.
Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving the flavours of red cherries, raspberries, flowers and minerals beautiful definition and lift. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling perfume and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. A beautiful, multi-layered wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex nose of black plums, dark chocolate, balsamic vinegar, candied oranges and a variety of baking spices. After all this extravagance, one might expect a soft and voluptuous wine, but this full-bodied red has a very solid core of healthy tannin and is decidedly dry. Surprisingly crisp finish." James Suckling
"The 2014 NeroSanloré blends dark earthy tones with exotic spices and hints of worn leather, plum sauce and sage as it rises from the glass. The palate is round and supple, with cool acidity and mineral notes that fade into dried black cherry and dark chocolate. Despite its depth and concentration, the finish is very clean. The final is long and structured, yet remarkably fresh, closing with a hint of tart cranberry that gives it a crisp feel. The 2014 is simply stunning and will age beautifully." Vinous
"This wine shows a medium, dark concentration, a characteristic feature of this vintage. The aromas have taken on an elegant tertiary definition with dried fruit, dark plum flavours, spice, earth and smoky tar. The wine is drinking beautifully now and gives us valuable and encouraging insights into the ageing potential of this popular indigenous grape variety from Sicily." Wine Advocate

“Rosso del Conte” Sicilia Contea di Sclafani DOC 2018
Deep crimson ruby red colour. On the nose, it smells of raspberries with beautiful concentration, a peppery tingle and perfectly integrated oak. Lively, crushed red berry fruit on the palate with long, finely chiselled tannins. It closes up a little on the finish, so you can expect much more, but for now it is already irresistible. Balanced and very elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
"Excellent blend of Nero d'Avola and Perricone: complex bouquet with aromas of stone fruit and wild berries; complex on the palate, with noticeable acidity, tightly woven tannins, persistent." Vinum
"Dark ruby red with violet reflections. Delicate, inviting nose, lots of fruit, cherries and plums, redcurrant, backed by fresh herbs and a hint of vanilla. Harmonious and elegant on the palate, noble, silky tannins, vibrant acidity, juicy and animating right into the long final." Falstaff
"Ripe strawberries with blackberries and a hint of tar. Full to medium body with strong tannins and a chewy and juicy finish. Very structured. A wine to age in the cellar. Still very young. Try after 2025." James Suckling
"Hints of exotic spice and cedar shavings waft over to reveal black raspberries, cocoa and dried roses as the 2018 Rosso del Conte slowly develops in the glass. It is incredibly fresh, cool and youthfully balanced, with a depth of tart wild berry fruit accompanied by a hint of blood orange and a zesty core of acidity. The 2018 tapers long, classically dry and structured, but retains its freshness. A minty note persists alongside a balsamic hint and a tart crispness from the cranberries." Vinous

“Archineri” Bianco Etna DOC 2022
The mineral Archineri made from the ancient Carricante grape from vines at an altitude of around 900 metres is quite exquisite. With great clarity and freshness, it displays its typical flavour profile of crushed rock, apple, banana, peach and citrus fruit. Fascinatingly dense on the palate with a velvety texture, a hint of chalk and a long, complex mineral finish. Pre-Phylloxera = from old, ungrafted vines! SUPERIORE.DE
"Fresh, engaging aromas of apple, pear, light-coloured stone fruit and flowers. Very juicy on the palate, wonderfully balanced with good freshness, a silky texture and a savoury final. The white Archineri already delivers consistently high quality for the price." Weinwisser
"Medium bright straw yellow with light reflections. Fine aromas of vineyard peach, mint, salted lemon and a hint of nutmeg on the nose. Very fresh and salty on the palate, straightforward and with a long final of citrus zest and fine minerality." Falstaff
"The 2022 Etna Bianco Archineri smells of a savoury blend of dusty dried flowers, shaved ginger and lime zest. It is round and supple, with a lovely inner sweetness and ripe orchard fruit balanced by a core of palpable minerals. The lively acidity makes for a pleasant final with medium length that leaves a hint of candied citrus and fresh mint." Vinous
"The nose is strongly characterised by citrus and stone fruit, but a subtle floral aroma adds elegance. The palate also begins citrus-driven before deeper, richer flavours of nuts, honey and herbs emerge. The salty finish brings a pleasant, unifying coolness." Wine Enthusiast
"Very pure and mineral nose, giving a stony, precise feel, almost as if you were sniffing in a quarry. Also some smoked tarragon and lemon peel. Impressive tension on the mid-palate with stimulating acidity and minerality. Pure and long. Delicious." James Suckling

“Santo Spirito” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
Brilliant, brightening ruby-garnet colour. Spicy notes of wild berries, liquorice, flint and traces of thyme on the nose. Beguiling extract sweetness on the palate, with a juicy and racy freshness and fine, tight tannins. Fine salty components on the final, already very polished and supple with further interesting ageing potential. Around 4,000 bottles were bottled. SUPERIORE.DE
"Remarkably pretty, the 2020 Etna Rosso Santo Spirito wafts up with a lifted blend of black cherries and dried strawberries, complemented by hints of clove and allspice. It’s soothingly round, with pretty red berry fruits motivated by vibrant acidity as rosy inner florals and licorice tones form toward the close. This tapers off with a classic tannic grip, maintaining fantastic freshness. The 2020 possesses a lovely balance that will carry it through its long and broad drinking window." Vinous
"Captivating minerals, white pepper, mezcal, orange peel and a wild, sulphurous flavour. Really juicy and broad on the palate with firm, powdery tannins that dissolve in the long, savoury finish." James Suckling
"The nose is full of bright, energetic notes of cherry, strawberry and blood orange, but undertones of sage and pencil shavings add depth and nuance. On the palate, a crackle of pepper reveals the bitterness of the orange notes, while structured tannins and bright acidity support the citrus tartness." Wine Enthusiast

Bright red. Precise, brooding aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, cinnamon, lavender and violets, complicated by iodine and earth. Silky and juicy with a refined but very concentrated extract that tantalises the taste buds but remains lively and not at all heavy, adding lovely definition and lift to the red cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavours. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a fascinating fragrance in the mouth and extreme finesse. SUPERIORE.DE

Rich, dense and suave, with complex flavors of saline red berries and dark plum complicated by repeating botanical herb and balsamic nuances. Finishes seamless an long. A wine of noteworthy purity, with an excellent balance of sweetness, acidity and tannins. This is Gulfi's closest vineyard to the sea and almost always gives the estate's most elegant, refined wine." “Feudo di Mezzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
Bright ruby red colour. Fine bouquet with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, savoury herbs and flint. Then rich and ripe in the mouth, with harmonious, peppery acidity that gives the red and black fruit flavours lift and support. Very complex in the further course, with enormous juiciness and the power and persistence for a very respectable finish and a long life. Only 1,200 bottles were produced. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of ripe plums and clafoutis lead to a good concentration of fruit that is austere at first but promises to open up nicely. Fresh floral notes mingle with spicy complexity, revealing the richness of dark fruits, finely structured with balanced tannins and freshness. A Cate Blanchett-like elegance, followed by a powerful, substantial finish." Decanter
"On the nose, there are mainly aromas of earth, tar, undergrowth and soy sauce, but also tart fruit notes that provide a certain spiciness. On the palate, a pinch of salt and pepper as well as strong tannins and acidity ensure that both the slightly metallic earthiness and the tart fruit elements develop into a multi-layered tapestry." Wine Enthusiast
"Pale to medium ruby-garnet colour. Very mineral nose with gravel, iron, some bitter orange, wild herbs and savoury berries. Huge tannins and high acidity on an austere palate with a full body and a mineral finish. Lots of tension here and yet elegant. A mineral and rather Barolo-like Etna Rosso." James Suckling
"Dusty, floral and slightly spicy, the 2020 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo entices from the first tilt of the glass. It floods the palate with textures of pure silk, complicated by tactile mineral tones and brisk acidity as crunchy red berry fruits cascade throughout. A tart cranberry crunchiness takes hold through the structured finale as violet inner florals slowly fade. This is a simply stunning rendition of Feudo di Mezzo. Bravo." Vinous

Intense and enveloping aromas of blackberry, dark fruit and cocoa. Memorable, full-bodied fruit and firm tannins on the palate, which give this Merlot its unique elegance. Pleasantly round, long and with traces of mint on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

On the palate, flavours of cherry, vanilla and milk chocolate support the berry element before a lingering, herbaceous and stony finish." Wine Enthusiast

It's round and supple, possessing cooling acidity and crisp wild berry fruits that cascade across the palate as rosy inner florals form toward the close. Bianco Arcurìa Etna DOC 2022
From the Contrada Arcuria in Passopisciaro on the north side of Mount Etna at an altitude of 600-700 metres, this 100% Carricante is vinified partly in cement tanks and partly in large oak barrels. The result is a fresh white wine from old vines with an invigorating citrus scent and notes of mint, rich in tropical fruit, taut and firm, with an elegant mineral note on the palate, with a fine finish and high complexity. 4,000 bottles are bottled per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"The wickedly fresh 2022 Etna Bianco Arcuria lifts from the glass with an airy blend of dried flowers, crushed stones and nectarines. It displays silky textures and ripe orchard fruits motivated by cooling acidity as hints of gingery spice amass toward the close. A chalky sensation settles in through the finish as a bump of zesty acidity maintains fantastic energy. Sour citrus tones slowly taper." Vinous

“Firraru Family & Friends” Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2021 (BIO)
Firraru is Feudo Maccari's latest big hit: a small-production Grillo from black soils characterised by limestone, clay skeleton and an iron-rich matrix. Crystal clear yellow with golden reflections. Complex aroma of citrus fruits, fine flavours of vanilla and roasted cinnamon. Fresh and perfectly structured on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and an enveloping, very long flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Firraru from Feudo Maccari is a single-varietal Grillo. Cool and racy, it is beautifully flavoured and produces plenty of juice and body with a differentiated depth. Firmly structured and long, this is probably one of the best Grillo." Weinwisser
"Bright light golden yellow colour. Intense aroma of yellow apple, grapefruit, acacia and orange blossom as well as vanilla and caramel on the nose. Structured and full-bodied on the palate, pleasantly spicy and beautifully melting, very powerful and long final on hazelnuts." Falstaff
"The smoky, tropical flavours are joined by a hint of herbs, and in the mouth the excellent acidity drives the fruit through a structured, full-bodied expression of the variety. Lemon, apricot and citrus peel are underscored by plenty of black pepper and a certain creaminess, leading to a long and savoury, spicy finish. Give it a few more months to allow the wood to integrate further." Decanter
"The 2021 Grillo Firraru is intense. A whiff of crushed rocks and sage gives way to freshly sliced nectarines and enriching hints of almond custard. Luxurious and nearly opulent on the palate, its ripe orchard fruits and silken textures are all kept in balance by a core of stimulating acidity. The 2021 cleans up beautifully through the finish with a crisp mineral tinge while suggestions of ground ginger create a spicy sensation. While I notice the oak treatment here, it is very well integrated." Vinous
"Lots of crushed oysters, dried flowers, flint and matches. Hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, but very energetic. Crunchy. Notes of liquorice and aniseed." James Suckling

“Fragore” Rosso Contrada Montelaguardia Etna DOC 2020
Fragore by Donnafugata from the Etna region of Montelaguardia in Randazzo joins the collection of iconic wines Mille e una Notte and Ben Ryè. With only 15,000 bottles, Donnafugata has produced a limited edition treasure. Fragore means thunder in Italian and refers to the volcanic thunder of Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano. Grapes of the autochthonous Nerello Mascalese grape variety from selected vineyards were used.
Bright, radiant ruby red colour. Spicy, floral bouquet of redcurrants, tobacco, nutmeg and violets, with a delicate flint note. Beautifully complex and elegant on the palate, the finely composed tannins guide every sip into a persistent final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Super complex nose with ripe red and pale blue berries, somewhat more precise than the Marchesa. On the palate, it presents itself with a lot of inner density, good depth and smoky mineral notes, a very energetic and typical Etna wine, with the energy of the volcano." Weinwisser
"Medium glossy garnet red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Fragrant nose of wild strawberries, raspberries and cherries, accompanied by a fine flint note. On the palate with a lot of tension, combined with flavourful freshness and a lot of pressure in the finish, has class." Falstaff
"Aromatic notes of spiced cranberries, integrated wood, orange peel and mint. On the palate, it is tannic and yet long-lasting with balsamic hints. Youthful with flavours of caramel, smoke and dark fruit. The initial tannins and acidity develop to emphasise the ripe, elegant fruit. Bitter, lively finish reminiscent of a Negroni." Decanter
"Dusty roses, undergrowth, grilled herbs and dried strawberries form a dark, seductive bouquet as the 2020 Etna Rosso Fragore slowly unfolds in the glass. The palate is flooded with silky textures and polished red berry fruit, enhanced by a hint of blood orange. The finish is savoury, structured and long, leaving a pleasantly bitter aftertaste with crisp tannins. The Fragore comes from the Contrada Montelagguardia, which is surrounded by forests that naturally cool the site." Vinous
"An evolved nose showing slightly cooked cherries, a very smoky character and a peach-like nuance that returns in the aftertaste. Light- to medium-bodied, this has refreshing acidity and lightly framed tannins with a chalky finish." James Suckling

“Calderara Sottana” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
Every year, one of the Tenuta's great, magical single-vineyard wines, which represents the special terroir of the Etna hills in a highly complex way. Dark red fruit, orange peel and flowers on the nose. Then juicy fruit, wonderful depth and a finely chiselled tannin structure. A subtle spiciness on the finish and the outstanding structure, length and elegance are always present! SUPERIORE.DE
"The Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana 2022 is intense and spicy in the glass. Crushed ash stones and grilled herbs give way to dried black cherries and spiced orange peel. The wine is luxuriously soft on the attack and is given a lovely lift by a core of tantalising acidity, while salty minerals and grippy tannins consolidate the ripe wild berries. The finish is very long and concentrated, leaving a youthful, structured impression and a pleasantly acidic sensation that lingers. The 2022 combines generosity with power in a wonderfully balanced package that favours cellaring for a decade." Vinous
"The purity and clarity to this really talks to you, with red cherry, orange peel, citrus blossom and basalt. Hints of smoke and tar, too. The transparency is really something here." James Suckling

“San Lorenzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
The Cru San Lorenzo, which is strictly limited in each vintage, comes from 4 hectares of vineyards in the district of the same name in the town of Randazzo. The vines are over 70 years old and grow around 750 metres above sea level; the soil consists almost exclusively of fine volcanic sand. The terroir in the small Contrada San Lorenzo was created by lava flows and deposits of volcanic origin that were formed between 60,000 and 15,000 years ago. This exceptional wine is particularly rich, fruity and has very soft tannins that make it velvety and luscious on the palate and ensure a never-ending finish. Magnificent! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo is remarkably pretty and redolent of dried flowers, cloves and lavender. It opens with a hint of candied orange that enlivens its core of tart wild berries. The lively acidity keeps the experience fresh throughout. The San Lorenzo colours the palate with high concentration, is lightly tannic and crisp, and leaves delightful floral scents that linger. This is the understated favourite of the Terre Nere portfolio, and I expect cellaring will add even more complexity." Vinous
"On the nose and the palate, wonderful cherry-blossom and rose-petal characters to the dark cherries and sliced blood oranges. Medium- to full-bodied with balance and intensity, this goes on for minutes. The citrus is hypnotizing." James Suckling

“Mille e una Notte” Rosso Sicilia DOC 2020
The noble version of Nero d'Avola in an impenetrable, dense ruby red colour. The aroma is enveloping with sweet and ripe, yet not "cooked" fruity notes, balsamic and floral nuances of violets, which final with hints of tobacco in the final. The flavour has a great structure and pronounced individuality. The balance of the soft tannins, which are perfectly integrated into the alcoholic component, and the long finish are also convincing. Radiant and powerful. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, dark ruby red with violet reflections. Ripe and dense nose of dark cherries, blueberries and dried plums, spicy paired with liquorice, black pepper and some cocoa. On the palate with a great fruit core, great freshness and juiciness as well as well-integrated tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"Polished and refined nose with notes of black cherries and vanilla, beautiful tannic structure with a long and evolving finish." Decanter
"A round and balanced red wine with fine, polished tannins that are surrounded by notes of black cherries, plum jam, herbal olives and paprika. Long and fresh, with notes of loamy earth and mocha on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 Mille e Una Notte opens with a basket of berries and spices complemented by cedar shavings and minty herbs. It is silky yet sincere, with tart wild berries and liquorice underscored by salty minerals, while a balsamic resonance builds towards the finish. The 2020 finishes structured and long. Fine tannins saturate the senses, while savoury herbs and a hint of tart blackberry finish." Vinous

Chardonnay Sicilia Menfi DOC 2022 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Planeta's famous Chardonnay is certified organic from the 2022 vintage and exudes a large and rich bouquet with aromas of apricot, apple, lemon, honey and lime. On the palate, these intense flavours are paired with a delicate melting texture, fruity freshness and beautiful length. A Sicilian white wine at the highest level since its debut vintage in 1995. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lots of wood spice, vanilla and praline with lemon zest and ripe pineapple. Bright and creamy on the palate with a full body and a flavourful, spicy finish. Needs time to balance the wood. Taste from 2025." James Suckling
"The nose is spicy but also floral, with undertones of herbs and syrupy, tart fruits, from cooked apples to dried pineapple. On the palate, rich flavours of lemon and almond paste support and balance a stronger note of pineapple before a slightly bitter finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2022 Chardonnay seduces with a seductive hint of spicy oak and vanilla pods that evaporates to reveal deeper notes of almond custard, Asian pear and sweet smoke. The palate is silky smooth, a pure pleasure with ripe fruit and salty minerals providing contrast. Lively acidity provides fantastic balance as the 2022 tapers long and savoury, with hints of ground ginger and hazelnut that slowly fade. It will need some cellaring time to integrate the oak, but it has the balance needed to develop beautifully." Vinous
"There's a creamy richness to this elegant white, which retains fine form, with good focus and lively tension from the integrated acidity. Apricot tart, baked pineapple and creamed hazelnut flavors glide across the palate alongside accents of preserved lemon, vanilla, broom and fleur de sel and ring out through the lasting finish." “Sultana” Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2021 (BIO)
The Nero d'Avola grapes for the very rare Sultana come from a steeply sloping, bush-shaped vineyard facing north-west. The soil here is white with a limestone matrix, rich in minerals and drainage capacity. The pronounced slope and very poor soil reinforce the pedoclimatic characteristics in which the Nero d'Avola plants find a natural habitat. It is an extreme terroir, a combination of environmental and human factors, that distinguishes the Sultana vineyard from other vineyards. The light reflected by the white soils enhances the characteristics and ultimately the quality of the grapes from the vineyard. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Intense aromas of cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants on the nose, accompanied by herbal flavours, cocoa and dark chocolate. Great juiciness and flow on the palate, good balance between freshness and tannins, ending with cherry fruit in the finish." Falstaff
"Deep purple in colour and significantly darker than the Vigna Guarnaschelli of the same vintage. Concentrated nose of sour cherry and raspberry with chalky notes. Juicy, lively, almost tart cherry and raspberry fruit, with a dose of grippy tannins on the finish, suggesting that this wine needs more age. Much less full-bodied than its 15% would suggest. It is currently more approachable than the Vigna Guarnaschelli." Jancis Robinson
"The Vigna Sultana 2021 is smoky in the glass, with a burst of grilled herbs, ash stones and spices giving way to black raspberry and sour citrus fruit. It's soft, supple and soothingly round with tart wild berries and savoury minerals for balance. A core of lively acidity keeps things tidy. The 2021 has a long finish and retains a lovely freshness. It leaves grippy tannins and a savoury feel under a hint of sweet violets and lavender on the finish." Vinous
"Spectacular aromas of hibiscus, lemon blossom, raspberry and red liquorice. Lots of crushed red berries. Medium body with fine, flattering tannins. Bright acidity on the finish. A triumph." James Suckling

“San Lorenzo” Bianco Etna DOC 2022
Giuseppe Russo cultivates part of the 12-hectare San Lorenzo vineyard at an altitude of around 750 metres on the slopes of Mount Etna near Randazzo. The lava flows of recent decades have created a porous soil here, rich in volcanic rock and therefore providing excellent drainage.
Just 2,000 bottles are filled each year. The vines, which are over 80 years old, produce an extremely low yield, making the result all the more complex and multi-layered. Fine salinity, light-coloured stone fruit and a well-measured extract sweetness flow from the glass. A good structure on the palate, the acidity and noticeable minerality support the subtle flavours of white peach and grapefruit. The finish is smoky with a nice salty note. It is at its best at 12° and will be even better in a few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Dusty white peach and orange peel scents are mirrored in the mouth, with some grapefruit, earth and wood tones. There's good intensity, and some ripe pineapple and floral notes emerge on the mid-palate before a fresh, lip-smacking salty finish. Delicious." Decanter
"An attractive wine with aromas of ripe citrus fruit, white flowers, stones and ash. Medium-bodied, multi-layered and complex, but at the same time lively and fresh. Juicy and exciting with a savoury, slightly phenolic and mineral finish." James Suckling
"The 2022 Etna Bianco San Lorenzo is shy in the glass and slowly awakens with a flavoursome blend of young peaches accompanied by grapefruit, rosemary and wet stone. The wine is very structured, silky and supple, with a depth of green apple and melon that soothes the senses. A saline note emerges on the finish, while the 2022 cleanses beautifully, leaving a mentholated freshness as the mango notes fade. The San Lorenzo is an absolute charmer and aims to please." Vinous
"With only a few vintages under his belt, Giuseppe Russo has created a beautiful top-class white wine from Etna. I tasted this sample about a month after bottling, and at this young stage the bouquet is very centred on citrus and salty minerals. But if you look beyond these two aromatic pillars, the wine reveals subtle layers of green apple, quince, pear and saffron. It shows a shy but compelling complexity." Wine Advocate

“Didacus” Chardonnay Sicilia Menfi DOC 2021
Didacus Chardonnay comes from the first vines planted on the shores of Lake Ulmo in 1985. It is dedicated to the founder of the winery, Diego Planeta, and represents the history of the winery as well as elegance, tradition, family and the future. It also embodies Planeta's vision of Sicilian viticulture at the highest level.
This incredibly complex white wine comes from the best grapes from just 4 hectares of Chardonnay vineyards, all of which are hand-selected, pressed and fermented in barriques. With just 6,996 bottles, this wine is hand-picked and distributed to the best importers and restaurants worldwide. Straw yellow in colour with golden reflections. Delicate aroma of herbs, white stone fruit, lychee and a hint of vanilla. Very complex in structure, needs further bottle ageing before it reveals all its elegance and minerality in a superbly long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This harmonious reinterpretation of the grape variety is a reminder of the Menfi area's suitability for international grape varieties: tones of exotic fruits, flowers and spices; linear on the palate, the acidity perfectly integrated, the finish multi-faceted." Vinous
"Aromas of grilled lemons and candied pineapple with hints of honeysuckle, caramel and pastry crust. Full and creamy with rich, layered fruit and some savoury notes. A little oily and dense. Long finish." James Suckling
"On the nose, there is a balance between the sweetness of homemade whipped cream, the smokiness of roasted almonds and the acidity of lemons and yellow apples. On the palate, the honey emphasises the sweetness of the fruit and nuts, but the lemons also play an important role and are underlined by a strong saltiness and a powerful acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The Chardonnay Didacus 2021 unfolds slowly in the glass, initially very delicate and restrained. A nuanced bouquet of raw almonds and peaches is emphasised by notes of dried flowers and a hint of vanilla pods. Luxuriously soft and supple, it washes over the palate with a delightful blend of ripe pears, mint and spice, gaining grip towards the end from the palpable minerality. The finish is long, colourful and fresh. A spicy finish slowly fades away." Vinous

“San Lorenzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2021
Giuseppe Russo cultivates part of the 12-hectare San Lorenzo vineyard at an altitude of around 750 metres on the slopes of Mount Etna near Randazzo. The lava flows of recent decades have created a porous soil here, rich in volcanic rock and therefore providing excellent drainage.
San Lorenzo, named after the Roman deacon and martyr, boasts irresistible aromas of red cherry, marzipan, quinine, blood orange and mineral stones. Excellently nuanced on the palate with polished tannins, remarkable length and great elegance. San Lorenzo from Etna - a commitment and one of many examples of the fact that the red wines from Etna can certainly hold their own with the finely elegant representatives of Nebbiolo. SUPERIORE.DE
"Balsamic red fruits mingle with sweet black berries and black cherries, with some strawberry, cherry and pomegranate on the mid palate. Fine, grainy tannins support the fruit, while some dried fruit and more balsamic take centre stage on the long, fresh finish." Decanter
"Subtle notes of ripe red berries, such as cherries and strawberries, with hints of lilac, red spices and crushed stones. Also some blood orange. Medium-bodied, polished and even on the palate with supple tannins that have a dusty texture. Juicy acidity and a crisp, mineral finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo entices with a bouquet of candied black cherry and minty herbs accentuated by sweet smoke and cloves. This displays silky textures and ripe red berry fruits with a crunchy mineral core. A zesty stream of acidity creates abundant energy. Classically dry and structured yet not severe, the 2021 finishes long with a pleasantly bitter note, leaving behind a tart cranberry concentration that puckers the cheeks. What a darling." Vinous
"The Etna Rosso San Lorenzo 2021 is a very exciting wine with lots of energy and vigour. It opens with a lean, concentrated body and a bright ruby red colour. The wine displays a long array of wild fruit and small berry flavours, underpinned by crushed white pepper and crushed stone. San Lorenzo is one of the most impressive interpretations of Etna. I highly recommend tasting and cellaring this wine." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“Feudo di Mezzo” Rosso Etna DOC 2021
Bright ruby red colour. Refined raspberry and red cherry on the nose, with notes of quinine and flowers that develop with further aeration. Fresh flavours of red berries and smoked beef, with hints of violets and orange zest. Almost exotic on the palate with plenty of luscious extract sweetness and fine tannins and a fresh, mineral, dry finish. An exceptional red wine with a terrificarc of tension! SUPERIORE.DE
"The scent of black cherries and medicinal herbs introduces an intense and concentrated flavour of sweet black forest fruits, balanced by balsamic freshness and integrated tannins. Vertical, elegant and fresh." Decanter
"The 2021 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo takes its time in the glass to reveal spicy tones with a dusty resonance of roses, violets, worn leather and sage. This is silky-smooth with a core of tart wild berry fruits to contrast. Salty minerals saturate as a coating of fine tannins forms toward the close. It finishes staining and long while a twang of sour citrus fades. I love the mix of energy and concentration here." Vinous
"I tasted this wine before it was officially released, and while it definitely needs more time in the bottle, I think we're looking at something very special. With high altitude fruit from old, twisted 100 year old vines, this expression is beautifully ethereal and almost weightless in character. The 2021 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo offers blue flowers, ashy smoke, liquorice and grilled herbs. The tannins are silky and flattering." Wine Advocate
