The Nero d'Avola grapes for the very rare Sultana come from a steeply sloping, bush-shaped vineyard facing north-west. The soil here is white with a limestone matrix, rich in minerals and drainage capacity. The pronounced slope and very poor soil reinforce the pedoclimatic characteristics in which the Nero d'Avola plants find a natural habitat. It is an extreme terroir, a combination of environmental and human factors, that distinguishes the Sultana vineyard from other vineyards. The light reflected by the white soils enhances the characteristics and ultimately the quality of the grapes from the vineyard. SUPERIORE.DE

The area around the small town of Milo is the only vineyard site on Etna where an Etna Bianco is allowed to be bottled as Superiore - and for good reason: only Carricante may be planted on the steep vineyard, which consists of dozens of small terraces. The vines are trained like a small tree on poles made of chestnut wood. The eastern exposure and the proximity of the sea allow the grapes to ripen late, resulting in consistently high acidity levels and a white wine with an aromatic finesse and freshness that is unrivalled even on Etna.

Pietra Marina is a single-varietal Carricante from vines over 80 years old at an altitude of around 950 metres on the eastern side of the volcano. The grapes are not harvested until October each year. Orange blossom, lychee, elderberry and apple on the nose. Harmonious and balanced on the palate, with perfectly integrated acidity and a beautiful finish. Distinct character, full of elegance, profound, sensual and endowed with a stunningly clean spectrum of flavours. One of the rarest and certainly most interesting white wines in Italy! SUPERIORE.DE

The noble version of Nero d'Avola in an impenetrable, dense ruby red colour. The aroma is enveloping with sweet and ripe, yet not "cooked" fruity notes, balsamic and floral nuances of violets, which final with hints of tobacco in the final. The flavour has a great structure and pronounced individuality. The balance of the soft tannins, which are perfectly integrated into the alcoholic component, and the long finish are also convincing. In 1984, Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita wanted to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary with his wife Franca by creating a wine that told the family story and the history of the Tenuta at the same time. The uniqueness of the grape composition shows his romantic spirit: Inzolia and Sauvignon from the Tasca selection, the selection of a vineyard in Regaleali that dates back to the end of the First World War. The use of selected yeasts from the estate's own vineyards links this wine even more inextricably with the terroir from which it comes. Fresh in its youth, the wine has an unexpected ageing potential and balances its tertiary aromas with the intensity of the fruit.

Gracis Sopra il Pozzo is a "selection from the selection" and comes from the Arcurìa vineyard. It is a Nerello cru with the clear DNA of the volcanic-stony terroir. Light ruby in colour with orange reflections, it has a nose of candied fruit, cooling firewood, some aniseed and herbs. The palate is silky without being smooth, its subtle wood and delicate acid wire harmonise perfectly with the flanking tannin until the unforgettable, mineral-salty finish. Giuseppe Russo cultivates part of the 12-hectare San Lorenzo vineyard at an altitude of around 750 metres on the slopes of Mount Etna near Randazzo. The lava flows of recent decades have created a porous soil here, rich in volcanic rock and therefore providing excellent drainage. SUPERIORE.DE
