The almost flat vineyard sites of Gries near Bolzano feature sandy alluvial soils permeated by quartz porphyry. The Lagrein grapes that predominate in this fresh cuvée reach full maturity here thanks to the heat-retaining properties of the Bolzano valley basin and thus gain their typical velvety softness. These deep red grapes are pressed with very short skin contact and thus surprise with fruity-fresh aromas of cherries combined with a hint of almonds. The grapes for this full-bodied Trockenbeerenauslese dry naturally on the vine to maximise the concentration of fruit sugar and aromas. They are harvested late and fermented in barriques. “Irisse” Vermentino Montecucco DOC 2022 (BIO)
Bright yellow organic Vermentino with a small proportion of Grechetto. The idea came from Maurizio Castelli, who also advises the Barberani winery in Umbria. Maurizio Castelli creates this marvellous white wine from the Tuscan coast from a traditional, local blend based on a historical model and always picks the grapes quite late. The nose has a bright aroma of apple, pear, flint and a certain exoticism. Complex and full on the palate, the rich flavour is accompanied by an invigorating, fresh acidity right through to the long final. SUPERIORE.DE
