The Lageder family now only makes one Sauvignon Bianco, and it belongs to the "Compositions" line. It gets its complexity from the wide variety of different clones in the vineyards. The majority of these are situated at an altitude of over 400 metres and are based on limestone soil on the one hand and volcanic weathered rock on the other. The different source rocks and the variety of vines led the Lageders to name the wine. This is because it consists of fragments from the best organic and biodynamic vineyards, which are married to form a whole. Owner Leonardo Pinzolo cultivates 52 hectares of biodynamic, Demeter-certified vineyards on his family farms in Popoli and Capestrano. The soils here differ from those in the rest of Abruzzo. Combined with the higher altitude of the vineyards and the proximity to the Gran Sasso mountains, these wines have a decidedly cooler expression than is usually found in Abruzzo. In the winery, fermentations are spontaneous and without temperature control. With the exception of a few single-vineyard wines, most of the wines are matured in stainless steel.

Leonardo's pleasantly fresh Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is a blend from the estate's individual vineyard sites. Initially restrained on the nose, it becomes spicy and herbaceous as it progresses. Soft and full-bodied on the palate, with a crisp minerality and tart fruit flavours. Rejuvenates with every sip with beautiful freshness and harmony, leaving a lingering flavour of young peach in the medium-long final. Good potential! SUPERIORE.DE

Brilliant medium carmine red colour. Initially somewhat reductively closed on the nose, Leonardo explains: "It's better if the wine is a little reduced when it comes into the bottle because it ages better that way." After a little air, a fine exotic flavour, lots of red fruit and notes of flowers. The surprise on the palate: a beautifully compact, juicy and transparent red fruit and lots of fine tannins, plus notes of liquorice and sweet cinnamon. Livio Felluga's Friulano is very fresh and tropical, with nuances of sour melon, young mango and white smoke forming its attractive bouquet. According to Francesco Ricasoli, Torricella is "the white soul of Brolio" and comes from a vineyard that was originally planted with Malvasia Toscana vines and was located near a well-known Tuscan estate. This estate was called Torricella. Since 2003, this vineyard has been planted entirely with Chardonnay vines, producing a white wine with enormous ageing potential. Francesco comments: "With Torricella, a very great white wine was created from the very first vintage, which is able to give its best even after many years of ageing. It is surprising that even 50 or even 70-year-old vintages are still lively and fresh. Take a look at the analysis data - alcohol, total acidity, pH value and volatile acidity - which very often prove the longevity of this wine."

The complex bouquet is reminiscent of citrus fruits, white flowers and honey, with a wonderfully fresh and velvety balance on the palate. The full and fresh fruit is joined by a fine hint of vanilla and cinnamon, and this white wine also has a discreet minerality and subtle spiciness that make it unique.
