“Alberelli di Giodo” Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2019
Just 9,000 bottles make up the annual production of this boutique winery from Etna. At 950 metres above sea level, the one-and-a-half hectares of vines, divided into eight tiny plots, are gradually bought up by the renowned Oenologist. The area is planted with Nerello Mascalese bush vines, which have been spared the phylloxera vine louse and make their way through the lava-covered terraces.
The single vines, which are on average 80 to 100 years old, are cultivated in the traditional, low-bush Alberello style, to which the wine also owes its name. Alberelli di Giodo is of extreme elegance and spiciness and represents to a remarkable degree the minerality and finesse typical of its volcanic growing region. SUPERIORE.DE
"From 2 hectares, the well-known Tuscan Oenologist Carlo Ferrini produces his own Brunello di Montalcino from Podere Giodo as well as a Sicilian red wine from Etna called Albarelli di Giodo. It is made from the local, Burgundy-like grape variety Nerello Mascalese and has the typical delicate colour. Quite fruity and very accessible, the Albarello di Giodo presents itself as an inviting, harmonious interpretation with a sweet, Tuscan touch. Deep, fine and very balanced also in the mouth, the delicate tannins are enveloped by Tuscan-like sweetness." Weinwisser
"Bright, radiant ruby red. In the nose hearty, of rich cherries, wet stone, some black truffle, in addition noble nuances of tea. On the palate radiant and juicy, showing fine creamy nuances, currently also still with very young tannin, in the final with firm grip and pressure." Falstaff
"Dark cherries and dried flowers with pumice and spices on the nose. Medium to full body with tight, firm tannins. Racy, with wonderful depth. From old vines with an average age of 70 years." James Suckling
"The Alberelli di Giodo 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese is a wine true to its volcanic roots. This elegant grape variety reveals a tight embroidery of aromas with wild rose, sour cherry, white pepper and campfire ash. The tannins are polished and long, and this deftly made Nerello Mascalese is endowed with plenty of natural freshness and tart berry flavors that drive a long, nuanced finish. This is another super star bottle from winemaker Carlo Ferrini." Wine Advocate

“Archineri” Rosso Etna DOC 2020
The red Archineri from Nerello Mascalese grapes is full of character and elegance. A very refined bouquet of redcurrants and wild berries, with a hint of dog rose, stone fruit and ethereal aromas. Very exquisite, very juicy, flavoursome and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"A herbaceous, spicy bouquet with Mediterranean culinary herbs such as sage and oregano, followed by floral accents of rose petals and peonies. On the palate, it is compact and almost sparse with a linear structure, which is reinforced by the earthy-mineral character and the supporting tannins, with the typical salty smokiness and fine red fruit on the juicy final." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with a brightening rim. Somewhat closed on the nose, delicate flint with red berry fruit. Barren and stony on the palate, shows a fine saltiness, very young, yet harmonious and balanced, constantly juicy on the final, beautiful length." Falstaff
"A floral, herbaceous bouquet with notes of sage, oregano, tomatoes, roses and peonies. On the palate, a dash of balsamic vinegar and a pinch of pepper add further nuances to the waltz of savoury herbs and flowers. The tannins emphasise the earthiness, while the acidity introduces a fruity element that is both sweet and tart." Wine Enthusiast
"An evolutionary nose of dried roses, figs and baked plums leads to a palate with lively acidity and a hint of rosewater. Exotic, bazaar-like flavours, rich exotic fruit minerality and charming floral fruitiness. Delicate smoke, round texture, fine tannins, juicy bitter cherry finish. Slightly tart." Decanter
"Ripe, spicy nose for an Etna Rosso with lots of orange peel, white pepper, cloves and mandarins. Also some stones and sage. Firm and full-bodied with a mineral texture that lightly coats the palate. Broad-shouldered tannins with a long, mineral finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Etna Rosso Archineri is earthy, dark and brooding, with a youthfully backward bouquet of ashen stones, grilled herbs and dried berries. It is silky smooth, with ripe wild berries accompanied by a hint of blood orange. A salty core of minerality saturates towards the end. This leaves a lingering tension on the palate. The lively acidity tantalises the senses and the fine tannins penetrate deeply, leading to a dramatically long, structured and intense final." Vinous

“Contrada Rampante” Rosso Etna DOC 2019
Contrada Rampante with a finely woven bouquet of dark red cherries, flowers, mint and liquorice. Fresh and lively on the palate, with a memorable blend of ethereal sweetness, delicate acidity and an interesting salty note. A contemplative wine that requires a certain amount of experience and patience in order to fully discover itself and its deliciousness. Pre-Phylloxera = from ungrafted vines! SUPERIORE.DE
"The Contrada Rampante near Solicchiata generally produces wines that are rather poor in minerals. This is partly due to the altitude of around 750 to 800 metres above sea level, but also to the special composition of the soil. The wine is lean and taut, almost "austere", the mineral spiciness and the upright tannin structure initially support the impression of a certain austerity, which here, however, thanks to its maturity, is even reminiscent of a top Brunello thanks to its melting texture and fine Amarena fruit." Weinwisser
"The Pietradolce 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante has an almost sweet bouquet with fragrant roses, candied almonds and wild berries. The wine is lean and taut in texture and finishes with fine tannins and subtle mineral nuances. The vines are planted at 850 metres above sea level and in this case, too, they are old plants from before the phylloxera plague. Only 4,000 bottles were released." Wine Advocate
"Dark and brooding, the 2019 Etna Rosso Rampante evolves slowly, with crushed ash stone and savoury grilled herbs balancing the dried black cherries. It's silky and refined, with a polished wave of ripe red and black fruit carried by vibrant acidity. A hint of sour citrus adds a pleasing punctuation towards the finish. Although the 2019 is only slightly tannic, it finishes with a youthful tension. A hint of primary concentration and a bitter hint of blackberry linger throughout. The power of the Rampante is on full display here, but you need patience to savour it." Vinous
"Full of aromas of ripe wild strawberries and black cherries. The palate is muscular, but with a beautifully taut and mineral centre, fresh and energetic, with ripe blueberries and a hint of chocolate on the long finish." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino “Vallocchio” DOCG 2019
Produced in small quantities, Vallocchio clearly stands out from pure Brunello di Montalcino. Darker, deeper and more mystical, it shows notes of ripe blackberries and plums, complemented by exotic brown spices and a hint of lemon confit. Its texture is like velvet stretching across the palate, black-fruited and ripe, underpinned by minerals and cooling herbal notes. It is youthfully monolithic and dense, revealing its austere tannin core only towards the end, where notes of black tea, liquorice and a hint of cocoa emerge. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ripe, intense, mineral-spicy bouquet with dark cherries, redcurrants, cassis and rose bushes. Juicy, elegant palate with fine-grained tannins, very intense, powerful and engaging on the palate, combining the ripeness with the freshness of the vintage." Weinwisser
"Aromas of raspberries and herbs are pleasing on the nose, the wood is well integrated; compact texture, robust tannins, lively acidity, pleasantly fruity finish." Vinum
"Transparent, firm and quite deep nose with noble red and black berry aromas, some tomato, slightly smoky barrel notes, bacon and dried Mediterranean herbs. Ripe, juicy, dense fruit, still relatively present, somewhat bitter chocolate, smoky and roasted wood spice, youthful, present, yet fine and ripe tannin, a little Mediterranean herbs on the palate, dark ethereal spice, lots of power, but also cooling elements, some coffee grounds in the background, good depth, very good, firm finish with dark juice and spice. Needs to mature." Wein-Plus
"Bright ruby garnet colour. Initially restrained on the nose, opens up to pepper, dried kitchen herbs and wild berries, with plum in the background. Inviting on the palate, rich, juicy cherry fruit, savoury, still young in the mid-palate, nicely salty on the final." Falstaff
"Grown in the south-east of Montalcino, this wine is customarily ripe and powerful, but balances its components - a powerful body, generous alcohol and a rich structure. Noticeable oak nuances of sweet spice and vanilla are at the forefront, but a foundation of pure cherry and dark plum simmers at the core." Decanter
"Well marked by new oak, this version adds a vanilla note and a layer of tannins to its cherry, floral and iron flavours, all supported by a solid structure. In the end, it finds a nice balance and a sense of elegance." Wine Spectator
"The Brunello di Montalcino Vallocchio 2019 is spicy and earthy in the glass, with a beguiling mix of ash stones, undergrowth and a hint of animal musk opening the stage and giving way to mentholated black cherries. It feels velvety and almost creamy on the palate, with a rich blend of ripe red and black fruits emphasised by salty minerals. Grippy tannins are added towards the end. The 2019 finishes structured and impressively long, with a hint of pine shavings and a bitter tang that lingers on and on. It should be stored in the cellar." Vinous
"Flavours of crushed berries and flowers with some bark and mushrooms. Medium to full body with medium, round tannins and fresh acidity. Nice balance and finesse." James Suckling
"The Fanti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vallocchio shows a pronounced savoury side with tobacco leaf, roasted chestnut shells, dark plums, honeycomb or honey roasted almonds. The tannins are dissolved, almost silky, and there is plenty of concentrated fruit to develop the rich texture. The alcohol content is 15%, but is well integrated into the dark fruitiness of the wine." Wine Advocate
"A selection from the five most historic vineyards, a mosaic of excellence. Black cherry on the nose, with hints of chinotto and lemon thyme. The mouthfeel is reminiscent of citrus fruits and black cherry, a hint of roasted nuts and ends with official notes." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 54 articles per customer“Firraru Family & Friends” Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2021 (BIO)
Firraru is Feudo Maccari's latest big hit: a small-production Grillo from black soils characterised by limestone, clay skeleton and an iron-rich matrix. Crystal clear yellow with golden reflections. Complex aroma of citrus fruits, fine flavours of vanilla and roasted cinnamon. Fresh and perfectly structured on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and an enveloping, very long flavour. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Firraru from Feudo Maccari is a single-varietal Grillo. Cool and racy, it is beautifully flavoured and produces plenty of juice and body with a differentiated depth. Firmly structured and long, this is probably one of the best Grillo." Weinwisser
"Bright light golden yellow colour. Intense aroma of yellow apple, grapefruit, acacia and orange blossom as well as vanilla and caramel on the nose. Structured and full-bodied on the palate, pleasantly spicy and beautifully melting, very powerful and long final on hazelnuts." Falstaff
"The smoky, tropical flavours are joined by a hint of herbs, and in the mouth the excellent acidity drives the fruit through a structured, full-bodied expression of the variety. Lemon, apricot and citrus peel are underscored by plenty of black pepper and a certain creaminess, leading to a long and savoury, spicy finish. Give it a few more months to allow the wood to integrate further." Decanter
"The 2021 Grillo Firraru is intense. A whiff of crushed rocks and sage gives way to freshly sliced nectarines and enriching hints of almond custard. Luxurious and nearly opulent on the palate, its ripe orchard fruits and silken textures are all kept in balance by a core of stimulating acidity. The 2021 cleans up beautifully through the finish with a crisp mineral tinge while suggestions of ground ginger create a spicy sensation. While I notice the oak treatment here, it is very well integrated." Vinous
"Lots of crushed oysters, dried flowers, flint and matches. Hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, but very energetic. Crunchy. Notes of liquorice and aniseed." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Cherry-accentuated bouquet with hints of violet flowers, clove, cigar box and a pleasant spicy sweetness. Dense and expressive on the palate, it opens vibrant and multi-layered and then reveals a wonderful load of black cherry, exotic spices and a fine salty vein. The perfectly balanced tannins always provide the necessary balance and give it a racy, very long finish with its extremely refined flavour components. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense fruity bouquet, ripe, rich cherry fruit, sweet tobacco, coffee beans, pomegranate juice. Meltingly dense on the palate, again with lots of pomegranate fruit and redcurrant, still very tannic, but has a lovely fruit to counter it. Needs to mature." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with a brightening rim. Nose of wild strawberries and rosehip, some sweet tobacco. Clear expression on the palate, juicy fruit and good tension, robust tannins, subtle vegetal hints and fine fruit on the final, high drinking flow." Falstaff
"With an abundance of Mediterranean herbs, forest shrubs and sweet spices, it shows a beautiful freshness and precision. On the palate, vanilla and eucalyptus play around the wild berries. Surprisingly, it is still a little edgy, but flows smoothly with gritty tannins and lively acidity. The youthful exuberance still needs to calm down a little, as the warming alcohol is evident." Decanter
"Cherry, plum, leather, earth and tomato leaf flavours accent this broad, bold red, with iron and toasty accents creeping in on the finish. Juicy and long, with a dusty grip at the end." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful interpretation of the terroir of north-west Montalcino, with a dark, seductive bouquet of sage and rosemary that fades into crushed blackberries and stone dust. The wine opens with a lovely inner sweetness that is perfectly balanced by crisp red fruit, mineral tones and a core of lively acidity. The finish is grippy and long yet surprisingly fresh, with an aftertaste of primary concentration that lingers." Vinous
"On the palate, this wine is very fine with wonderfully integrated tannins that add tension and focus. It is medium-bodied with lovely berries, cherries, cedar and spice. Also peaches and floral stems. Creamy texture. Extremely long and lively. Structured but with lovely drinkability and wonderful balance and shape." James Suckling
"Red currant on the nose, notes of peony and rhubarb, then sensations of clementine zest. Sapid drinkability, recalls of red currant notes and floral. Good persistence and a citrusy finish." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Medium, radiant ruby red. Complex nose of sweet and cedar wood, paired with Mediterranean maquis and delicate sweet cherry. In the mouth, balsamic notes, very finely woven tannins and a wonderful complexity that envelops the juicy fruit core and gives the wine an impressive depth and length. The elegance is also very impressive and will certainly increase with further maturity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep aromas of cherries and flowers; compact construction, the tannins racy and well integrated, beautiful melt and polish and of great elegance." Vinum
"Dense spicy bouquet, tart fruit and spice on the palate; elegant, compact style with racy flow, very classic, noticeable tannin and grip, nice freshness and ethereality. Needs time." Weinwisser
"Brilliant medium ruby red. A seductive richness on the nose, combined with cool red fruits and notes of iron and black pepper. The spicy note on the finish adds depth to the fresh red fruit, accompanied by a long vein of persistent grainy tannins. Super-elegant." Jancis Robinson
"Castello Romitorio's classic Brunello, which comes from the estate's highest plots - between 350 and 450 metres - embodies the vintage's grace without sacrificing depth or flavour. The aromas are ethereal at first, then join the scents of rosehip, liquorice root and juniper. The sweetness of the pure cherry in the mouth is balanced by a juicy acidity and powdery tannins. The wine has a sneaky substance and a long-lasting presence. The Filo di Seta may have more reserves for ageing, but I can't help but be completely charmed (for the price) by the sheer elegance of this wine." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino impresses with a blend of dried citrus peel, cedar chips, floral scrub, black cherry and Tuscan dust. It is soft, even buoyant, with a depth of velvety, textured red and blue fruits and sweet, liquid purple tones colouring the palate. The 2018 finishes fresh and long with notes of wild blueberries and a touch of balsamic spice, framed by a layer of fine tannin. This is a complete success for the vintage." Vinous
"I like the dried purple undertones of the red and blue fruits, along with some walnut shell and olive. There is so much flavour here, packed into a compact core framed by silky, firm tannins. Dense and concentrated. Try it after 2024." James Suckling
"The Castello Romitorio 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows crisp and tart fruit with cherry, cassis and wild plum. This medium-bodied wine offers plenty of freshness and brightness in a vintage that was challenging for many. This expression is unique thanks to the inner energy on display; the red fruits are prominent and the wine's balanced acidity rounds it all out." Wine Advocate
"A graceful red characterised by cherry, strawberry, rose, minerals and Mediterranean herbs. Supple and juicy, but firm, with a mineral finish. Lively and long." Wine Spectator

Brunello di Montalcino “Paesaggio Inatteso” DOCG 2019 (BIO)
The Paesaggio Inatteso selection comes from Camigliano's 3.5-hectare "La Magia" vineyard, which has mineral and calcareous soils. Only just under 3,000 bottles are bottled. It offers a more robust style and a stronger aromatic intensity than the Annata. Bright red with an amber-coloured rim. On the nose, round notes of walnut shells, roasted hazelnuts and linseed, as well as red plums, pomegranate seeds and green olives. Traces of incense and cardamom in the background. Full-bodied, lively tannins on the palate, with hints of red berries and flowers leading to an intense and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium-intense red; inviting fruit and gum notes; round, sweetness, depth of fruit, lots of good tannin, long, very nice." (JLF) Merum
"Nose of blackberries and tobacco; the attack is pithy, the tannins powerful, has race and polish." Vinum
"Attractive bouquet with wonderfully crisp red berry fruit, raspberry, fragolino, tobacco. Juicy in the mouth, clearly red-fruity, fine tannins, good freshness, crisp, fresh style, fine tannic grip, elegant and powerful, long, fresh, mineral final." Weinwisser
"Clear, bright ruby red colour. Mint, blackberry and juicy cherry on the nose, with a hint of candle wax, reminiscent of fresh honey, complex and inviting. Compact on the palate, with tightly woven tannins and fine pressure, constantly juicy again, also slightly salty hints, great harmony." Falstaff
"The organic Camigliano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso shows plenty of ripe fruit with dark plums, prunes and blackcurrants. It also shows notes of smoked tobacco and cigar box. The difference between this wine and the village bottling is that the Paesaggio Inatteso matures a little longer in oak (30 months instead of 24 months) and the oak barrels are smaller (25 hectolitres instead of 60 hectolitres). A medium-heavy mouthfeel ends with still dusty tannins." Wine Advocate
"This version has it all, from the cherry, plum, earth and iron aromas and flavours to the well-integrated structure and long aftertaste. Fresh, supple and powerful, it shows finesse with a lingering mineral element on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Vibrant and vibrant red fruits of cranberry, red cherry and potpourri, followed by dried rosemary and pleasant orange peel that enhance the experience. Medium-bodied with refreshing acidity and firm but soft tannins. Pure and elegant. Needs time." James Suckling

“Coltassala” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Coltassala Gran Selezione is an impeccable representative of the royal class in Chianti Classico. The immensely fragrant bouquet shows black fruits, spices and ploughed earth. All the aromas are on the dark and spicy side, but the wine always remains fresh, dense, buoyant and very linear. Shows rich volume and a strong personality and precision. SUPERIORE.DE
"As always at this young stage, the wood notes accompany the fine and bright fruit; the strengths lie in the inner tension, the elegance, the solid style of the fine tannin and the eternal length. Confirms the upward trend of this great classic, which has been organically farmed since 2000." Weinwisser
"Charismatic attack of cherries and black pepper, delicately tinged with liquorice notes; the tannins youthful, the acidity perfectly integrated, plenty of richness and power through to the long complex final." Vinum
"The organic Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Coltassala 2019 is 95% Sangiovese with a tiny 5% Mammolo. The production is 9,000 bottles in this vintage. The wine shows medium fruit weight with a nice blend of creamy black fruits, Christmas spices and crushed stone or granite. The wine is both fruity and contemporary." Wine Advocate
"Bright ruby red. In the nose initially fine mint, some fruit tea, also fine liquorice, in the aftertaste of ripe blackberries and cardamom. On the palate with clear, radiant fruit, tense powerful tannin, also on the palate with ripe berry fruit, in the final with delicate earthy-spicy nuances, grippy." Falstaff
"Aromas of black cherries and citrus fruits with some graphite and smoke. Medium-bodied with firm, juicy tannins that are still chewy now but will soften with age. Racy and long on the finish. From organically grown grapes." James Suckling
"Lovely cherry, raspberry and floral aromas and flavours take centre stage in this graceful red wine. Lively and elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a long, supple, mineral finish. In about 5 to 6 years, this wine will be truly charming." Wine Spectator
"An exceptional Gran Selezione from Volpaia, sourced from the winery's historic vines and clones. On the nose, red raspberries, hints of rhubarb and juniper, then balsamic eucalyptus. Salty-sweet on the palate, with a fruity finish and balsamic notes, very long lasting." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “40 anni” DOCG 2018
40 years Brunello di Montalcino by Casanova di Neri: Intense bouquet of sour cherry with nuances of chocolate, spices, liquorice and herbs. Energetic and highly vital on the palate. Wonderfully layered and seamlessly integrated dark fruit flavours open up with each sip, paired with a subtle vein of salt. Its tannins are like velvet and silk, the long, sweeping finish reveals that Sangiovese excellence we love so much at Casanova di Neri! SUPERIORE.DE
"Also convincing in this vintage: Scents of cherries, flowers and herbs; intense on the palate, robust texture, lots of character and juice, excellent length on complex notes of wild berries and spices. Pleases with its complexity and elegance." Vinum
"Dense, still closed bouquet with dark red and blue fruits reminiscent of plum and dark cherry, clearly tobacco and chocolate as well as balsamic nuances. Powerful, immensely compact, but materially melting palate with juicy contours, quite different from the warm 2017, much more grippy with a tightly gripping, densely meshed, but definitely sweet tannin. final grippy and animated with cranberry juice. Good future potential." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby-garnet with brightening rim. Appealing nose with notes of blood orange, cranberries and crisp cherries, Mediterranean herbs in the background. Shows very good tension on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, fine-meshed tannin, saline, a classic." Falstaff
"Lots of clean cherry and plum character on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied with dense, chewy tannins and a long finish. Nice freshness to the fruit, but give the tannins a year or two to settle. 40th anniversary bottling. Best from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino keeps me returning to the glass to savour its pretty bouquet of dusty flowers, exotic spices and dried strawberries. The palate is like pure silk, seamless and supple, with a depth of dark red fruits and mineral tones that give a more tactile feel towards the finish. Balsamic herbs, cedar and tobacco resonate on the long and dramatic final, while fine tannins frame the experience with youthful poise. As is often the case, Casanova di Neri is a master at producing one of the region's most balanced and enjoyable Brunellos." Vinous
"The Casanova di Neri 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, with a special commemorative label celebrating its 40th anniversary (1978-2018), is lush and carefully concentrated to offer intensity and richness of structure. The bright fruit remains intact in this wine, with plenty of cherry and blackberry, an encouraging indication of the future cellar potential of this bottle. Many Brunellos from this vintage show faded or dried fruit, but fortunately not this wine. The acidity is mild and fades gently into the background, and the tannins are well integrated." Wine Advocate
"A bright, fruity style that offers aromas of cherries, strawberries, currants, white pepper and minerals. Accents of almonds and earth emerge on the finish. It stands out for its balance and pleasant length." Wine Spectator
"Another fundamental label from Casanova di Neri, a compendium of craftsmanship and territorial vocation. Black raspberry, with balsamic and officinal notes, like sage, on the nose, then liquorice nuances. The mouthfeel is iodine-juicy, with a return of medicinal herbs and liquorice." Luca Gardini

Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Dense with complex fruit flavours, lots of extract, soft, mouth-filling, unusually velvety and enveloped in gentle tannins. Matured in small barriques of old and new oak and in traditional Tuscan wooden barrels. Riecine has been producing one of the most subtle Chianti Classico wines for years - a marvellous wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium carmine red colour. Lively, fresh cherry and raspberry fruit with savoury, spicy notes in the background. Cool raspberry fruit on the palate with plenty of fresh acidity and fine tannins that linger on the palate. Very long and precise." Jancis Robinson
"Shows its harmonious side again, on the one hand charming, with juicy fruit and creamy, then also with fine acidity and depth." Weinwisser
"The Chianti Classico 2021 is a very beautiful, elegant wine. Sweet floral notes open the wine, followed by ripe red cherries, blood oranges, mint and rose petals. This medium-bodied, noble Chianti Classico is a winner." Vinous
"It smells of raspberries, potting soil, roses and cherry blossom. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and transparent, with flavours of redcurrant and orange peel. The light tannins are powdery in texture and the racy acidity electrifies with nervous energy." Decanter
"Intense aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry and spices mark this succulent, harmonious red, which firms up nicely on the finish, where iron and tobacco accents emerge." Wine Spectator
"Dark ruby red with brightening edges. Medium intensity nose of juniper, sweet cherry and a hint of pomegranate. Very fresh on the palate, with a fine fruit flavour and grippy tannins, carries well through to the juicy finish." Falstaff
"Aromas of black cherries and violets with a hint of lemon peel. Also gravel. Medium body, well-integrated tannins and a creamy texture with beautiful tannins and fruit." James Suckling
"A Sangiovese, lively, intense and spicy. Liquorice on the nose, then undergrowth and red raspberry. Iodised on the palate, surprisingly persistent, with an aftertaste of red mulberry." Luca Gardini

“Guidalberto” Toscana IGT 2022
Since Guidalberto has been vinified from its own grapes, most of which also grow in the Sassicaia DOC monopoly position, San Guido's "second wine" has grown beyond itself. Spicy, earthy bouquet with hints of tobacco, clove and lavender, dense and juicy on the palate with fresh red and black berry fruit. The tannins are well balanced and the finish is complex with a majestic elegance that will become even more refined with years of ageing in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Guidalberto is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and has its own vines, some of which are inside and some outside the Sassicaia DOC. A very subtle wine with ripe, charming fruit and a velvety texture. It is more elegant and refined than before." Weinwisser
"Gently shining ruby red colour. Multi-layered bouquet, opens on ripe wild berries, redcurrant, notes of juniper, cedar and black pepper, a touch of lilac. Silky attack, precise fruit on very well-integrated, fine tannins, elegant and with gentle pressure in the long final." Falstaff
"The 2022 is full of aromas of herbs and sea breeze amid bright, tangy berries. In the mouth, it is savoury and precise, with a juiciness to the concentrated core of plums and black berries and a gracefulness to the tannin and acidity structures that weave through it. Juicy and incredibly flavoursome, with a wonderfully ripe red berry finish, this wine really stands on its own two feet." Decanter
"Lots of mint with sage and fresh rosemary to go with the redcurrants and oranges on the nose, as well as some ripe raspberries. The palate is very refined with creamy and crisp tannins that run the length of the wine. It shows a crisp and energetic personality. It should be given another year or two to develop, but it is already very good for the vintage." James Suckling
"The Guidalberto 2022 gives you a good taste of the same DNA that gives us one of Italy's greatest wines, Sassicaia, but it is offered here in a more immediate style. This warm vintage opens with a medium-dark concentration and very powerful aromas that immediately remind you of blackberries and blackcurrants lying in the sun at the farmers' market. The wine shows a soft and gentle side with a nice level of elegance conveyed by the freshness of the fruit and the slight oak spice that is noticeable here, but with grace." Wine Advocate
"This red wine is elegant, despite its firm structure and dense tannins. The flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant, plum, tobacco, iron and rosemary hold court, with all components balanced. The finish is long, with a salty flavour." Wine Spectator

Barolo DOCG 2018
The grapes for the estate's classic Barolo come from the vineyards/communes of Ornato, La Serra, Briccolina in Serralunga d'Alba, Gustava and Garretti in Grinzane Cavour, Roncaglie in La Morra, Ravera in Novello and, from the 2015 vintage, also from Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba. It is more of a traditional, classic Barolo with an exciting bouquet of deep, dark fruit and a pretty potpourri of rose petals, spices, smoke and tar. It is full-bodied and firm on the palate, opening up with plenty of dense tannins, very powerful, with pressure and a full bite on the finish, designed for a long life. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium, warm red colour; red fruity, caramel, coffee-like, leafy, deep, very inviting; round, fine, then dense, warm tannin, caramel, length, pleasing." Merum
"Even the colour is surprisingly transparent and light-coloured. The entry-level Barolo has an open, attractive bouquet with freshly picked cranberries and redcurrants, persimmon, ripe cherries, playful, shimmering, linear and multi-layered. Rather cool than opulent. Very finely woven on the palate, very elegant and almost floating, a finesse piece for elegance drinkers." Weinwisser
"Clearly fleshy-animalic aroma with red berry and fine vegetal flavours, a little dried herbs, a hint of juniper and dried floral traces. Clear, taut, almost cool, tart and juicy fruit, a little cocoa, coffee and allspice, also juniper tones, present, youthful, yet very fine tannins, some bite, persistent, elegant style, very good, juicy and finely spiced finish. A beauty." Wein-Plus
"Bright, radiant ruby red colour. Delicately spicy on the nose, some cherries and raspberries, with a hint of undergrowth, medium expression overall, yet inviting. Polished on the palate, with velvety tannins, already extremely accessible, drinks excellently, salty and radiant on the final." Falstaff
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Balsamic nose that slowly rises from the glass. Hints of garden herbs, brooding cherry and cranberry. Still a little tight on the nose, but more approachable on the palate with ripe, supple fruit and plenty of richness without being heavy. Lots of grainy, flavoursome tannins and a fairly firmly structured, fruit-driven finish." Jancis Robinson
"Classic bright garnet red in the glass, the wine focuses on cherry stones with tar, violets, a little camphor and sweet spices. The attack is firm and crisp, with a brilliant crispness on the palate and grainy tannins that carry through to a slightly austere finish. There's a little lack of flesh - a feature of the 2018 vintage - but this is one of the best Barolo from the village this year." Decanter
"Pio Cesare is on a wave of success, producing outstanding Barolo vintage after vintage. This wine is of tremendous intensity and beauty, with fragrant layers of pressed flowers, wild berries, vanilla and spice. It boasts a dark, powerful appearance and firm tannins supported by an excellent quality of fruit." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Pio is once again impressive in 2018. Deep, multi-layered and so expressive, the 2018 offers an unusual elegance right from the start. The dark, mentholated aromas and flavours are fascinating. In 2018, the Barolo Pio also offers a certain depth that is rare in wines of this level. All elements are perfectly balanced. This is a very good vintage for the Pio." Vinous
"The 2018 Barolo opens with ripe aromas of dried plums and tobacco. This vintage lacks some of the complexity of a cooler growing season, but the results are anything but monochromatic. Those tobacco flavours recede to cedar, earth, forest floor and a hint of shaved truffle." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of spicy red cherries on a loamy base, along with savoury notes of forest floor and walnut shells. Also some orange peel. Full-bodied with very fine, firm and silky tannins and lots of long, concentrated fruit and spice flavours. Good structure for 2018, best from 2024." James Suckling

“Alberelli di Giodo” Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2021
The annual production of this boutique winery on Etna is just 9,000 bottles. At an altitude of 950 metres above sea level, the one and a half hectares of vines are divided into eight tiny plots and have been gradually bought up by the well-known Oenologist. The area is planted with Nerello Mascalese bush vines, which have been spared the phylloxera phylloxera and make their way through the lava-covered terraces.
The single vines, which are on average 80 to 100 years old, are cultivated in the traditional, low-bush Alberello style, to which the wine owes its name. Alberelli di Giodo is extremely elegant and flavoursome and represents the minerality and finesse typical of its volcanic growing region to a remarkable degree. SUPERIORE.DE
"The grapes for the red wine grow outside the DOC at over 950 metres above sea level and are planted with 80 to 100-year-old Nerello Mascalese bush vines. Wonderful, Burgundian-like nose with red berries, the finest cherries as well as subtle florality and smoky spice. On the palate, it has an elegant structure with a mineral and earthy centre, supported by fine acidity and fine, juicy, ripe tannins." Weinwisser
"Medium, bright ruby red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Lots of herbs and some fruit on the nose, thyme, dried oregano and some lemon balm, juicy raspberries and redcurrants. Very animating on the palate, straightforward and with a fine fruit core, appealing length and fine-grained tannins." Falstaff
"Aromas of plum, iron and pumice with some flowers. It is medium-bodied with powdery, fine tannins. It is complex and elegant, yet very structured. Very long and concentrated. Wild finish with an undertone of lava. Directly above the Contrada di Rapante. Drinkable, but better in two or three years." James Suckling

“Fragore” Rosso Contrada Montelaguardia Etna DOC 2020
Fragore by Donnafugata from the Etna region of Montelaguardia in Randazzo joins the collection of iconic wines Mille e una Notte and Ben Ryè. With only 15,000 bottles, Donnafugata has produced a limited edition treasure. Fragore means thunder in Italian and refers to the volcanic thunder of Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano. Grapes of the autochthonous Nerello Mascalese grape variety from selected vineyards were used.
Bright, radiant ruby red colour. Spicy, floral bouquet of redcurrants, tobacco, nutmeg and violets, with a delicate flint note. Beautifully complex and elegant on the palate, the finely composed tannins guide every sip into a persistent final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Super complex nose with ripe red and pale blue berries, somewhat more precise than the Marchesa. On the palate, it presents itself with a lot of inner density, good depth and smoky mineral notes, a very energetic and typical Etna wine, with the energy of the volcano." Weinwisser
"Medium glossy garnet red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Fragrant nose of wild strawberries, raspberries and cherries, accompanied by a fine flint note. On the palate with a lot of tension, combined with flavourful freshness and a lot of pressure in the finish, has class." Falstaff
"Aromatic notes of spiced cranberries, integrated wood, orange peel and mint. On the palate, it is tannic and yet long-lasting with balsamic hints. Youthful with flavours of caramel, smoke and dark fruit. The initial tannins and acidity develop to emphasise the ripe, elegant fruit. Bitter, lively finish reminiscent of a Negroni." Decanter
"Dusty roses, undergrowth, grilled herbs and dried strawberries form a dark, seductive bouquet as the 2020 Etna Rosso Fragore slowly unfolds in the glass. The palate is flooded with silky textures and polished red berry fruit, enhanced by a hint of blood orange. The finish is savoury, structured and long, leaving a pleasantly bitter aftertaste with crisp tannins. The Fragore comes from the Contrada Montelagguardia, which is surrounded by forests that naturally cool the site." Vinous
"An evolved nose showing slightly cooked cherries, a very smoky character and a peach-like nuance that returns in the aftertaste. Light- to medium-bodied, this has refreshing acidity and lightly framed tannins with a chalky finish." James Suckling

“Badiòla” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione for the first time in order to recognise the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiòla.
Badiòla is the historic name of a vineyard in the municipality of Radda, whose grapes have been vinified separately by the Mazzei family as a Gran Selezione since the 2017 vintage. Bright ruby-garnet colour, a restrained yet clear nose of wild berries, blue flowers, undergrowth and hints of dark pepper. On the palate, Badiòla is masterfully balanced, almost weightless. The very well-integrated tannins make it smooth from the first to the last glass and it impresses with its long finish - its elegance is magnificent! SUPERIORE.DE
"Already radiates finesse on the nose and confirms this not only with plenty of fruit, but also with subtle minerality, elegance and appears light-footed and multi-layered in comparison. In the final, the fine race, depth and tannin bite complete the terrificimpression." Weinwisser
"Bright, sparkling ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Nose with elegant, earthy tones, beetroot, ripe cherry, wild berry fruit and black tea. On the palate with racy, fresh acidity and a red berry centre, plus a fine saltiness." Falstaff
"Spicy and chocolaty with ripe red and dark berries, rose petals and bark undertones. Medium to full-bodied with firm, racy tannins and crisp acidity. Lively fruit character and a linear finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badiòla is a complex, wonderfully nuanced wine. White pepper, chalk, orange peel and orange zest are woven into a core of vibrant red cherry fruit. This nuanced, earthy Radda Gran Selezione from vineyards 550 metres above sea level has a lot to offer in 2020." Vinous
"Seductive blackberry nose, also lilac and balsamic notes; balanced on the palate, the tannins and acidity in perfect balance, finishes crisp on notes of fresh fruit, also pepper and maquis. Can still age. Convinces with its elegant, Burgundy-like style." Vinum
"This expressive red shows aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries and flowers, supported by a lively acidity and refined tannins. Intense and resonant with a mineral aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Oenological jewel from the Romanesque Pieve di Badiòla. Three Sangiovese clones, three from the mass selection, nose with notes of jammy berries, wild mint and gardenia, with iodine sensations. Salty and iodised on the palate, with a fruity-floral finish and great crispness." Luca Gardini

Barolo “Le Coste di Monforte” DOCG 2020
Of the three Baroli from Pecchenino, Le Coste di Monforte shows the greatest focus and sharpness. Compared to this wine, the other two wines are significantly softer in their aromatic focus. Its fruit comes from a vineyard of just under one hectare at an altitude of 450 metres. Le Coste di Monforte offers dark fruits, balsamic herbs, spices, campfire ash and ferruginous earth in beautifully balanced proportions. This wine has a long maceration period of 60 days (at 28 degrees Celsius), which is concluded with 36 months of ageing in oak barrels. This gives the wine its rich flavour profile. SUPERIORE.DE
"Still closed, muted nose. Super juicy in the mouth, finely contoured fruit, slightly woody touch that resonates, salty style in the finesse-rich finish. Will need time." Weinwisser
"Vibrant and fresh, wild red berries leap from the glass, mingled with an ample array of baking spices and a touch of vanilla, accented by the fresh herbal quality of crushed leaves. The wine features well-constructed tannins and presents a palate that veers towards earthy, savory nuances, with darker tones. Its good structure suggests both immediate appeal and potential for aging." Wine Enthusiast
"Ripe cherries and raspberries with notes of chocolate, dried orange peel and hints of sandalwood. Firm but bright and juicy with vivid acidity that drives the energy. Medium- to full-bodied. Vibrant and chalky in the end." James Suckling

“Vicoregio 36” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione for the first time in order to recognise the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiòla.
As a result of 50 years of research, 36 biotypes of the Sangiovese grape were planted on a sunny plateau near Castelnuova Berardenga, from which this extremely interesting and unique wine was created a few years ago. The overall impression is very balanced and straightforward with hints of red cherries, spices, dried blueberries and tobacco. It is the warmest and most balanced of the three Gran Selezione wines. Its intensity, richness of colour and precise fruit immediately captivate Sangiovese lovers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Archetypal for a Chianti Classico, marrying fine fruit with depth and robust, earthy-spicy grip and remaining compact and full-bodied until the long finish." Weinwisser
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Dark berry and spicy on the nose, with rich precious wood, milk chocolate, fine, resinous tones and a hint of smoke and coconut. Juicy on the palate, with compact tannins and a savoury core, the final is grippy and powerful, the wood has integrated well since the last tasting, powerful finish." Falstaff
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vicoregio 36 is a soft, fruity wine that can be drunk now or over the next few years. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry fruit, candy and sweet floral notes permeate this uncomplicated Gran Selezione. The Vicoregio comes from a relatively cool site in Castelnuovo Berardenga and is the only wine in this range to be aged in oak." Vinous
"Very attractive combination of cherries and lightly toasted oak. A hint of cappuccino. Turns into flowers. Full-bodied with creamy tannins and light-coloured fruit. Polished tannins with a hint of vanilla at the end. Needs time to develop. Try it after 2026." James Suckling
"The Mazzei 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Fonterutoli Vicoregio 36 is made from the fruit of an experimental vineyard planted with 36 Sangiovese biotypes. It is characterised by a very linear and concentrated style. This site is particularly rocky with clay-limestone Alberese soils. The ripe fruit of the warm vintage and the lush oak spice give the wine a full-bodied finish. Finally, beautiful mineral notes lend vigour and elegance to the bouquet." Wine Advocate
"This racy red wine is characterised by its lively acidity, which highlights the flavours of cherry, raspberry and iron. Hints of wild herbs, oak spice and tobacco add detail as the wine develops into a long, complex finish that has excellent balance and energy." Wine Spectator
"Exquisite aromas of small fruits, dried roses, spices and tobacco; intriguing structure with sufficient density, but also a great deal of finesse, the tightly woven tannins and acidity in harmony, ends with a long finish. Impeccable Gran Selezione from 36 different Sangiovese biotypes." Vinum
"Marasche on the nose, touches of clementine zest and fresh sage, with peony lashes. Mouthfeel with iodized tannins, a comeback of plum." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Katia and Luigi's Brunello di Montalcino opens with dark fruits, cherries, forest herbs and dried plums. This is accompanied by a fine fruity sweetness, framed by notes of tar, smoke and exotic spices. The dark and ripe intensity of the fruit is closely interwoven with the flavours of oak and the stately proportions of the wine. The long and well-structured finish is characterised by liquorice and mint, flanked by a layer of fine tannins. What we particularly like about this Brunello is that it is already full of finesse and class and is already showing its beauty at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE
"Concentrated, wide-ranging ripe bouquet, delicately liqueur-like top note, but less invasive than usual, ripe cherries, blueberries, tobacco, chocolate, very complex and engaging. Juicy, concentrated and at the same time polished palate, powerful, polished fullness, concentrated final." Weinwisser
"Dark ruby red with a brick-coloured rim. Deep, seductive cherry nose with exotic spice notes. Powerful and long with juicy cherry fruit that is just beginning to unfold and fine-grained, enveloping tannins. Very balanced, but still needs to settle, so wait and see." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino smells of a dusty mix of dried flowers and strawberries underscored by lemon oil. It is racy and supple with cooling acidity and vibrant ripe wild berries lifted by orange and cedar spice. The acidity asserts itself and maintains an amazing freshness despite the grippy tannins that resonate throughout. The 2019 finishes long and colourful with a pretty hint of violet blossom that lingers for a long time. San Polino continues to raise the bar; this wine is wonderful." Vinous
"From the San Polino vineyards in the north-east on loamy clay soils. This exuberantly youthful and nascent 2019 is redolent of violets and oily balsamic herbs. It makes a medium-bodied impression - yet is packed with blackberry fruit. A hint of orange peel is emphasised by a zesty acidity. And when the wine opens up, spicy, steely depths emerge. Promising, but still needs to come together. Firm, loamy tannins weigh down the flavour on the finish." Decanter
"Intense aromas of black cherries, black truffle, orange peel and Indian spices. The palate is full yet restrained, with very fine tannins that penetrate the wine linearly and deeply. Lovely texture. Restrained on the finish. A true beauty." James Suckling

“Alberelli di Giodo” Carricante Sicilia DOC 2022
100% Carricante of incredible elegance and purity, its subtle aroma of herbs and citrus fruits is complemented on the palate by a wonderful minerality and salinity. A white wine full of expressiveness and finesse! SUPERIORE.DE
"The white wine comes from the Contrada Rampante, which stands for rising high. Very finesse-rich and complex with notes of fine yellow fruit, herbs and hints of broom bush. The whole is wonderfully framed by smoke. Medium-bodied on the palate with a fine melting texture and mineral-saline flavour." Weinwisser
"Light, bright straw yellow with silver reflections. Yellow pear and gooseberry on the nose, citrus zest, delicately complemented by white flowers. Elegant fruit on the palate, coated in juiciness and with salty nuances, very direct until the long final, ending on citrus notes." Falstaff
"This is a pure Carricante with honeysuckle, lemons and light grapefruit with a salty sensation in the flavours. The same character is evident on the palate with a medium to full body, a creamy texture and a lovely finish. Lemongrass and minerals underline the subtle fruit flavours and acidity. Tangy. Clean and clear nature." James Suckling
"Fragrant white wildflowers on the nose, mixed with dried herbs and aromatic peaches and lychees. Crisp yet round, a lovely burst of citrus, juiciness on the palate with high acidity and then revealing more creamy white peach and pear with subtle wet stone, salinity and herbal spice at the edges. It feels like a serious gourmet wine, with body, structure and yet plenty of life. The finish is mineral and savoury, with a hint of warmth and southern Italian spice. 100% Carricante vines, on average 50 years old, planted between 800-900 metres above sea level." Decanter

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Argiano recently caused an international sensation with its Brunello 2018, when the renowned Wine Spectator ranked it as the 8th best wine in the world in 2023. It is fermented in cement tanks and matured slowly in oak wood; its fruit comes from a 22-hectare vineyard with limestone marl soils. Now comes the follow-up vintage, and it is not only very promising because it already perfectly reflects the extraordinary Montalcino year 2019 in its own unique way.
Dark yet floral in the glass, with a hint of crushed stone and violet pastilles embellishing the black cherries. Energetic yet silky-smooth on the palate, with cooling minerality and juicy acidity that layers masses of tart wild berries over a core of savoury minerals. The primary fruit is young and agile and the grippy tannins, which envelop the entire palate, guide it into a long, savoury final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, concentrated aroma, dark red fruit, touch of orange peel, earthy, pithy and powerful. Lots of substance in the mouth, juicy structure with pressure and freshness, very complex and wide-ranging, ripe with penetrating freshness and flavour, lingers forever with good structure. Already fun now, but will certainly benefit from further bottle ageing." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with cherry-red reflections. Dried berries on the nose, slight hints of coffee grounds and black tea, with a hint of liquorice on the finish. Energetic on the palate, precise acidity and good juiciness, plus creamy fruit, flows along fruit-emphasised, still a little young on the final, good foresight." Falstaff
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Powerful, concentrated fruit nose with spicy hints. Lots of tangy fruit and ripe, grainy tannins that form a very good balance. Long, chewy, deep fruit. This wine will develop well over the next few years." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 is strongly reminiscent of the village and exudes savoury, sweet herbs, rose and bergamot. Generously weighted with juicy strawberries and cherries, it fills the mouth without feeling heavy. Spicy mandarin provides freshness. Long, chalky tannins caress the palate with increasing firmness as it flows confidently across the palate. Rosemary and sage linger on the finish." Decanter
"Crushed ash stones, cloves, dried black cherries, rosemary and balsamic herbs form a spice box as the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. The Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly fresh and energising, almost juicy, yet refined and focused, with a silky texture that brings out crisp wild berry and orange tones that slowly saturate the palate. The finish is spicy and long, its energy never flagging, with grippy tannins that tug at the cheeks as the liquorice and cranberry notes fade." Vinous
"The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is stronger than the previous 2018 and 2017 vintages, thanks to the precision and focus of its fruit flavours in this balanced vintage. It shows ample depth and volume, with sweet cherry and blackberry flavours leading into gently toasted spice and earth. Floral hints of lilac and iris make a brief but incisive appearance. Velvety tannins and a beautifully concentrated, medium-bodied palate ensure good persistence." Wine Advocate
"Delicious flavours of juicy red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and wild bush, along with hints of juniper and ground herbs. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and crisp acidity. Spicy and savoury with a nice balance and finish. Lots of fruit on the finish. Give it more time to develop." James Suckling
"This wine is packed with ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit, with floral, mineral, juniper and wild herb accents adding depth and complexity. There's also plenty of energy and structure, providing excellent balance, with a long finish." Wine Spectator
"Red cherry, then notes of wild mint, with a finish on hints of blood-orange peel. Dense-citrusy drinkability, iodized tannins." Luca Gardini

“Vicoregio 36” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castelnuovo Berardenga DOCG 2021
Since summer 2023, Chianti Classico producers have been allowed to include the eleven additional geographical indications (UGA = unità geografiche aggiuntive) introduced in 2021 on the labels of the top Gran Selezione category. For Chianti Classico winegrowers, it is a logical step to produce wines that reflect the area in which they were produced as authentically as possible. And customers can thus deepen their knowledge of the relationship between the wines and their region of origin - a real added value.
"Captivating nose of raspberries, violets, orange zest; velvety finish, supported by a fresh acidity, the tannins are powdery and of outstanding quality, very long." Vinum
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour. Hearty and inviting nose of juicy black cherries and cranberries, followed by dark chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak. Great precision and balance on the palate, elegant tannins, gentle persistence on the long finish." Falstaff
"Warm fruit of juicy cherries and dried blueberries, Mediterranean spices and a very elegant acidity structure characterise this independent and robust wine. Stimulating, fine tannins and great, polished length." Jancis Robinson
"The Mazzei 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castelnuovo Berardenga Castello di Fonterutoli Vicoregio 36 is a special project made from the fruit of an experimental vineyard in a warm subzone of the appellation, where there are generally thicker soils and more organic material. These conditions result in a concentrated wine with flavours of dark fruit and oak spice. The tannins are soft and the wine is rich in texture for a Sangiovese." Wine Advocate
"The aromas of black cherries and plums with a hint of toasted oak and cedar are very attractive on the nose. Some dried flowers. Full-bodied with fine tannins and a powerful palate of al dente fruit, including cherry, citrus and mineral character. Powerful and structured, yet fresh and crisp. This is a well-structured Chianti Classico that needs at least three or four years to develop, but will improve with age." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
The fruit for this Brunello comes from a 14.4 hectare south-facing vineyard with loamy soils and lots of boulders. Complex, dark and earthy bouquet of ripe black cherries, enriched with notes of dried flowers, spices, crushed stones and a hint of animal musk. The palate reveals silky textures and pure Sangiovese fruit, underpinned by earthy tones supported by a network of minerals and tannins. The mouthfeel is always lean, tangy and soft, although you can feel the wine's full body and great appeal at all times. The final is polished and refined and lasts for several minutes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant, bright ruby red colour. Great complexity on the nose, a potpourri of mint, blood orange, candied cherry and elegant spice. Juicy, polished and present on the palate, with great red berry fruit, expressive and clear, medium-bodied and elegant, drinks very well, repeatedly juicy on the final." Falstaff
"This red wine is characterised by aromas of plums, ripe cherries, wild herbs and iron. On the palate, the purity of the fruit unfolds together with accents of tobacco and bergamot. The wine is solidly built, with dusty tannins that vie for attention with the fruit on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Cocounut husk, vanilla and clove on the nose. Loads of plum, raspberry, dusty tannins, finish big with sour cherries and aromatic herbs." Decanter
"Deep red berry fruit, sweet spices, cinnamon and cloves introduce the Brunello di Montalcino 2019. The Brunello di Montalcino is silky through and through, with a depth of red fruits and spices accompanied by juicy acidity. Liquorice and cloves combine with tart raspberry, while the 2019 finishes surprisingly fresh and lightly structured." Vinous
"The Mastrojanni 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a pretty bouquet with dark fruit and something exotic reminiscent of camphor ash, wood fire ash, garrigue and dried herbs. It is rich and evenly concentrated with fine chalk on the tannins and good phenolic ripeness. It is an excellent accompaniment to grilled game or French magret de canard. This pure local bottling does a great job and is ultimately more approachable than many of its competitors." Wine Advocate
"From vineyards between 180 and 400 metres, impeccable processing in the cellar for a wine of great freshness. Notes of wild strawberries on the nose, a hint of rose and star anise, with mentholated hints. On the palate, savoury tannins, mentholated and with a return of small fruits." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Neris Brunello 2019 is a classic wine with pleasant contrasts and a focussed structure. Ripe dark fruit and autumnal spices contrast with savoury herbs and a hint of animal musk. The palate is silky, cool and airy, with a noticeable inner sweetness in the polished cherry and berry flavours, then veers more towards inner earth and minerals, showing beautifully articulated and grippy tannins. Streamlined and compact in the mouth with a lively, racy finish and great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, delicately reductive bouquet that beguiles with plenty of typical cherry and pomegranate fruit as well as blue fruits such as plums, backed by tobacco and dark gianduja chocolate as well as balsamic nuances. Elegant, incredibly full-bodied palate with juicy contours and grippy, yet sweet tannins. A grippy, animating, long final with cranberry juice, orange peel and delicately reductive, savoury notes. Good potential." Weinwisser
"Powerful ruby colour with a light garnet rim. Very appealing, open nose, with notes of wild raspberry and blackberry, plus fresh tobacco and a fine spicy note. Polished and fine on the attack and on the palate, showing lots of juicy, dark fruit paired with dense tannins, spans a wide arc, very good drinking flow." Falstaff
"Redcurrants and lavender, followed by layers of dried herbs and spices. Full-bodied and lush on the palate with chewy tannins. Persistent long finish with citrus flavours. Still young, healthy and concentrated. Very attractive now and in the future." James Suckling
"The core of ripe cherry fruit is complemented by woody, mushroomy, ferrous, spicy and savoury flavours in this intense red, with a long, resonant aftertaste. Although balanced, it could use a few more years to reach its sweet spot." Wine Spectator
"The Casanova di Neri 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows dense fruit tissue with hints of undergrowth, pressed rose, light cherry, tobacco and balanced oak spice. This wine definitely has a special furrow. It offers a ripe, round texture with good acidity, followed by fine, chalky tannins. This is an impressive quality. In fact, this is one of the best village Brunellos that Giacomo Neri and his family have produced to date." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a lovely floral bouquet, mixing rose petal, lavender and violet with hints of worn leather and dusty earth. This is a model of balance and purity, with crisp wild berry fruits guided by fresh acidity as a cascade of sweet spice gives way to fine-grained tannins toward the close. It finishes impossibly long and staining yet still fresh, tapering off classically structured and dry. The future is bright for this wonderfully harmonious White Label Brunello from Casanova di Neri." Vinous
"A great classic of the house, a work of impeccable finesse between land and cellar for an emblematic product. On the nose, raspberry, a hint of white pepper, a touch of laurel and peony, then nuances of sweet liquorice. Salty and juicy in the mouth, with raspberry and floral notes." Luca Gardini
