“Vicoregio 36” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione for the first time in order to recognise the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiòla.
As a result of 50 years of research, 36 biotypes of the Sangiovese grape were planted on a sunny plateau near Castelnuova Berardenga, from which this extremely interesting and unique wine was created a few years ago. The overall impression is very balanced and straightforward with hints of red cherries, spices, dried blueberries and tobacco. It is the warmest and most balanced of the three Gran Selezione wines. Its intensity, richness of colour and precise fruit immediately captivate Sangiovese lovers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Archetypal for a Chianti Classico, marrying fine fruit with depth and robust, earthy-spicy grip and remaining compact and full-bodied until the long finish." Weinwisser
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Dark berry and spicy on the nose, with rich precious wood, milk chocolate, fine, resinous tones and a hint of smoke and coconut. Juicy on the palate, with compact tannins and a savoury core, the final is grippy and powerful, the wood has integrated well since the last tasting, powerful finish." Falstaff
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vicoregio 36 is a soft, fruity wine that can be drunk now or over the next few years. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry fruit, candy and sweet floral notes permeate this uncomplicated Gran Selezione. The Vicoregio comes from a relatively cool site in Castelnuovo Berardenga and is the only wine in this range to be aged in oak." Vinous
"Very attractive combination of cherries and lightly toasted oak. A hint of cappuccino. Turns into flowers. Full-bodied with creamy tannins and light-coloured fruit. Polished tannins with a hint of vanilla at the end. Needs time to develop. Try it after 2026." James Suckling
"The Mazzei 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Fonterutoli Vicoregio 36 is made from the fruit of an experimental vineyard planted with 36 Sangiovese biotypes. It is characterised by a very linear and concentrated style. This site is particularly rocky with clay-limestone Alberese soils. The ripe fruit of the warm vintage and the lush oak spice give the wine a full-bodied finish. Finally, beautiful mineral notes lend vigour and elegance to the bouquet." Wine Advocate
"This racy red wine is characterised by its lively acidity, which highlights the flavours of cherry, raspberry and iron. Hints of wild herbs, oak spice and tobacco add detail as the wine develops into a long, complex finish that has excellent balance and energy." Wine Spectator
"Exquisite aromas of small fruits, dried roses, spices and tobacco; intriguing structure with sufficient density, but also a great deal of finesse, the tightly woven tannins and acidity in harmony, ends with a long finish. Impeccable Gran Selezione from 36 different Sangiovese biotypes." Vinum
"Marasche on the nose, touches of clementine zest and fresh sage, with peony lashes. Mouthfeel with iodized tannins, a comeback of plum." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Katia and Luigi's Brunello di Montalcino opens with dark fruits, cherries, forest herbs and dried plums. This is accompanied by a fine fruity sweetness, framed by notes of tar, smoke and exotic spices. The dark and ripe intensity of the fruit is closely interwoven with the flavours of oak and the stately proportions of the wine. The long and well-structured finish is characterised by liquorice and mint, flanked by a layer of fine tannins. What we particularly like about this Brunello is that it is already full of finesse and class and is already showing its beauty at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE
"Concentrated, wide-ranging ripe bouquet, delicately liqueur-like top note, but less invasive than usual, ripe cherries, blueberries, tobacco, chocolate, very complex and engaging. Juicy, concentrated and at the same time polished palate, powerful, polished fullness, concentrated final." Weinwisser
"Dark ruby red with a brick-coloured rim. Deep, seductive cherry nose with exotic spice notes. Powerful and long with juicy cherry fruit that is just beginning to unfold and fine-grained, enveloping tannins. Very balanced, but still needs to settle, so wait and see." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino smells of a dusty mix of dried flowers and strawberries underscored by lemon oil. It is racy and supple with cooling acidity and vibrant ripe wild berries lifted by orange and cedar spice. The acidity asserts itself and maintains an amazing freshness despite the grippy tannins that resonate throughout. The 2019 finishes long and colourful with a pretty hint of violet blossom that lingers for a long time. San Polino continues to raise the bar; this wine is wonderful." Vinous
"From the San Polino vineyards in the north-east on loamy clay soils. This exuberantly youthful and nascent 2019 is redolent of violets and oily balsamic herbs. It makes a medium-bodied impression - yet is packed with blackberry fruit. A hint of orange peel is emphasised by a zesty acidity. And when the wine opens up, spicy, steely depths emerge. Promising, but still needs to come together. Firm, loamy tannins weigh down the flavour on the finish." Decanter
"Intense aromas of black cherries, black truffle, orange peel and Indian spices. The palate is full yet restrained, with very fine tannins that penetrate the wine linearly and deeply. Lovely texture. Restrained on the finish. A true beauty." James Suckling

“Alberelli di Giodo” Carricante Sicilia DOC 2022
100% Carricante of incredible elegance and purity, its subtle aroma of herbs and citrus fruits is complemented on the palate by a wonderful minerality and salinity. A white wine full of expressiveness and finesse! SUPERIORE.DE
"The white wine comes from the Contrada Rampante, which stands for rising high. Very finesse-rich and complex with notes of fine yellow fruit, herbs and hints of broom bush. The whole is wonderfully framed by smoke. Medium-bodied on the palate with a fine melting texture and mineral-saline flavour." Weinwisser
"Light, bright straw yellow with silver reflections. Yellow pear and gooseberry on the nose, citrus zest, delicately complemented by white flowers. Elegant fruit on the palate, coated in juiciness and with salty nuances, very direct until the long final, ending on citrus notes." Falstaff
"This is a pure Carricante with honeysuckle, lemons and light grapefruit with a salty sensation in the flavours. The same character is evident on the palate with a medium to full body, a creamy texture and a lovely finish. Lemongrass and minerals underline the subtle fruit flavours and acidity. Tangy. Clean and clear nature." James Suckling
"Fragrant white wildflowers on the nose, mixed with dried herbs and aromatic peaches and lychees. Crisp yet round, a lovely burst of citrus, juiciness on the palate with high acidity and then revealing more creamy white peach and pear with subtle wet stone, salinity and herbal spice at the edges. It feels like a serious gourmet wine, with body, structure and yet plenty of life. The finish is mineral and savoury, with a hint of warmth and southern Italian spice. 100% Carricante vines, on average 50 years old, planted between 800-900 metres above sea level." Decanter

"Captivating nose of raspberries, violets, orange zest; velvety finish, supported by a fresh acidity, the tannins are powdery and of outstanding quality, very long." Vinum
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour. Hearty and inviting nose of juicy black cherries and cranberries, followed by dark chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak. Great precision and balance on the palate, elegant tannins, gentle persistence on the long finish." Falstaff
"Warm fruit of juicy cherries and dried blueberries, Mediterranean spices and a very elegant acidity structure characterise this independent and robust wine. Stimulating, fine tannins and great, polished length." Jancis Robinson
"The Mazzei 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castelnuovo Berardenga Castello di Fonterutoli Vicoregio 36 is a special project made from the fruit of an experimental vineyard in a warm subzone of the appellation, where there are generally thicker soils and more organic material. These conditions result in a concentrated wine with flavours of dark fruit and oak spice. The tannins are soft and the wine is rich in texture for a Sangiovese." Wine Advocate
"The aromas of black cherries and plums with a hint of toasted oak and cedar are very attractive on the nose. Some dried flowers. Full-bodied with fine tannins and a powerful palate of al dente fruit, including cherry, citrus and mineral character. Powerful and structured, yet fresh and crisp. This is a well-structured Chianti Classico that needs at least three or four years to develop, but will improve with age." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Medium, radiant ruby red. Complex nose of sweet and cedar wood, paired with Mediterranean maquis and delicate sweet cherry. In the mouth, balsamic notes, very finely woven tannins and a wonderful complexity that envelops the juicy fruit core and gives the wine an impressive depth and length. The elegance is also very impressive and will certainly increase with further maturity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep aromas of cherries and flowers; compact construction, the tannins racy and well integrated, beautiful melt and polish and of great elegance." Vinum
"Dense spicy bouquet, tart fruit and spice on the palate; elegant, compact style with racy flow, very classic, noticeable tannin and grip, nice freshness and ethereality. Needs time." Weinwisser
"Brilliant medium ruby red. A seductive richness on the nose, combined with cool red fruits and notes of iron and black pepper. The spicy note on the finish adds depth to the fresh red fruit, accompanied by a long vein of persistent grainy tannins. Super-elegant." Jancis Robinson
"Castello Romitorio's classic Brunello, which comes from the estate's highest plots - between 350 and 450 metres - embodies the vintage's grace without sacrificing depth or flavour. The aromas are ethereal at first, then join the scents of rosehip, liquorice root and juniper. The sweetness of the pure cherry in the mouth is balanced by a juicy acidity and powdery tannins. The wine has a sneaky substance and a long-lasting presence. The Filo di Seta may have more reserves for ageing, but I can't help but be completely charmed (for the price) by the sheer elegance of this wine." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino impresses with a blend of dried citrus peel, cedar chips, floral scrub, black cherry and Tuscan dust. It is soft, even buoyant, with a depth of velvety, textured red and blue fruits and sweet, liquid purple tones colouring the palate. The 2018 finishes fresh and long with notes of wild blueberries and a touch of balsamic spice, framed by a layer of fine tannin. This is a complete success for the vintage." Vinous
"I like the dried purple undertones of the red and blue fruits, along with some walnut shell and olive. There is so much flavour here, packed into a compact core framed by silky, firm tannins. Dense and concentrated. Try it after 2024." James Suckling
"The Castello Romitorio 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows crisp and tart fruit with cherry, cassis and wild plum. This medium-bodied wine offers plenty of freshness and brightness in a vintage that was challenging for many. This expression is unique thanks to the inner energy on display; the red fruits are prominent and the wine's balanced acidity rounds it all out." Wine Advocate
"A graceful red characterised by cherry, strawberry, rose, minerals and Mediterranean herbs. Supple and juicy, but firm, with a mineral finish. Lively and long." Wine Spectator

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
The fruit for this Brunello comes from a 14.4 hectare south-facing vineyard with loamy soils and lots of boulders. Complex, dark and earthy bouquet of ripe black cherries, enriched with notes of dried flowers, spices, crushed stones and a hint of animal musk. The palate reveals silky textures and pure Sangiovese fruit, underpinned by earthy tones supported by a network of minerals and tannins. The mouthfeel is always lean, tangy and soft, although you can feel the wine's full body and great appeal at all times. The final is polished and refined and lasts for several minutes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Elegant, bright ruby red colour. Great complexity on the nose, a potpourri of mint, blood orange, candied cherry and elegant spice. Juicy, polished and present on the palate, with great red berry fruit, expressive and clear, medium-bodied and elegant, drinks very well, repeatedly juicy on the final." Falstaff
"This red wine is characterised by aromas of plums, ripe cherries, wild herbs and iron. On the palate, the purity of the fruit unfolds together with accents of tobacco and bergamot. The wine is solidly built, with dusty tannins that vie for attention with the fruit on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Cocounut husk, vanilla and clove on the nose. Loads of plum, raspberry, dusty tannins, finish big with sour cherries and aromatic herbs." Decanter
"Deep red berry fruit, sweet spices, cinnamon and cloves introduce the Brunello di Montalcino 2019. The Brunello di Montalcino is silky through and through, with a depth of red fruits and spices accompanied by juicy acidity. Liquorice and cloves combine with tart raspberry, while the 2019 finishes surprisingly fresh and lightly structured." Vinous
"The Mastrojanni 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a pretty bouquet with dark fruit and something exotic reminiscent of camphor ash, wood fire ash, garrigue and dried herbs. It is rich and evenly concentrated with fine chalk on the tannins and good phenolic ripeness. It is an excellent accompaniment to grilled game or French magret de canard. This pure local bottling does a great job and is ultimately more approachable than many of its competitors." Wine Advocate
"From vineyards between 180 and 400 metres, impeccable processing in the cellar for a wine of great freshness. Notes of wild strawberries on the nose, a hint of rose and star anise, with mentholated hints. On the palate, savoury tannins, mentholated and with a return of small fruits." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Neris Brunello 2019 is a classic wine with pleasant contrasts and a focussed structure. Ripe dark fruit and autumnal spices contrast with savoury herbs and a hint of animal musk. The palate is silky, cool and airy, with a noticeable inner sweetness in the polished cherry and berry flavours, then veers more towards inner earth and minerals, showing beautifully articulated and grippy tannins. Streamlined and compact in the mouth with a lively, racy finish and great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, delicately reductive bouquet that beguiles with plenty of typical cherry and pomegranate fruit as well as blue fruits such as plums, followed by tobacco and dark gianduja chocolate as well as balsamic nuances. Elegant, incredibly full-bodied palate with juicy contours and grippy, yet sweet tannins. A grippy, animating, long final with cranberry juice, orange peel and delicately reductive, savoury notes. Good potential." Weinwisser
"Powerful ruby colour with a light garnet rim. Very appealing, open nose, with notes of wild raspberry and blackberry, plus fresh tobacco and a fine spicy note. Polished and fine on the attack and on the palate, showing lots of juicy, dark fruit paired with dense tannins, spans a wide arc, very good drinking flow." Falstaff
"Redcurrants and lavender, followed by layers of dried herbs and spices. Full-bodied and lush on the palate with chewy tannins. Persistent long finish with citrus flavours. Still young, healthy and concentrated. Very attractive now and in the future." James Suckling
"The core of ripe cherry fruit is complemented by woody, mushroomy, ferrous, spicy and savoury flavours in this intense red, with a long, resonant aftertaste. Although balanced, it could use a few more years to reach its sweet spot." Wine Spectator
"The Casanova di Neri 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows dense fruit tissue with hints of undergrowth, pressed rose, light cherry, tobacco and balanced oak spice. This wine definitely has a special furrow. It offers a ripe, round texture with good acidity, followed by fine, chalky tannins. This is an impressive quality. In fact, this is one of the best village Brunellos that Giacomo Neri and his family have produced to date." Wine Advocate
"A great classic of the house, a work of impeccable finesse between land and cellar for an emblematic product. On the nose, raspberry, a hint of white pepper, a touch of laurel and peony, then nuances of sweet liquorice. Salty and juicy in the mouth, with raspberry and floral notes." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “La Pieve” DOCG 2019
Beautifully balanced on the nose with dried roses, blackcurrants, earth and balsamic herbs. The Brunello di Montalcino La Pieve, with its tannins and strong, primary fruity core on the palate, shows a somewhat greater firmness and power than the Annata. This wine is so youthful yet full of balanced components; salty minerals, liquorice and tart blackberries linger incredibly long under a hint of purple flowers. It needs a little more bottle ageing before it begins to shine. With this single-vineyard Brunello from Castelnuovo dell'Abate, La Gerla succeeds in bringing out the purity of Sangiovese in a remarkable way. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, red berry, super floral bouquet, tobacco, leather. Juicy palate, supple, sweet berries, nice ripeness, super juicy style, grippy but sweet ripe tannin, a typical 2019. " Weinwisser
"Bright, shiny ruby red colour. Fragrant nose of wax, stone pine, cane sugar, then rich dark berry fruit and undergrowth, with a delicate balsamic note, complex and inviting. Harmonious entry and progression on the palate, balanced, with well-integrated tannins and great juiciness, shows beautiful Sangiovese character, good length, with a finish of citrus fruit." Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Sublime, concentrated cherry nose with a hint of spicy, complex oak, but in a very subtle way. Lush, tangy cherry fruit with finely milled, firm tannins that support the fruit without ever becoming dominant. Great balance." Jancis Robinson
"With intensity to the cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruit, this red is shaded with elements of tobacco, earth and wild herbs. Dusty tannins and lively acidity provide support, while a mineral component gathers steam on the salty, lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino La Pieve opens with a mentholated freshness that mingles with dusty roses, crushed stones and dried cherries. It shows a silky texture contrasted by cool acidity and minerals, while the tart red fruits slowly saturate. The 2019 leaves edgy tannins on the palate as it takes on a balsamic note and traces of cloves slowly fade. La Pieve is a classic wine, but it also has a powerful structure. Bury your bottles deep." Vinous
"In the black label bottle, the La Gerla 2019 Brunello di Montalcino La Pieve reveals a 360-degree bouquet of generous fruit, dark currant, petrichor, wet slate and a mix of rosemary and grilled herb. This wine presents a classic Brunello bouquet combined with medium fruit weight and very fine, grippy tannins. Production is limited to 6,320 bottles this year." Wine Advocate
"Once again the raw material on the shields for a compact and intense Brunello. On the nose, notes of red blackberries, a hint of cinnamon and Valdostan mint, finishing on notes of wild iris. Juicy and taut sip, salty tannins, closes with a return of menthol notes." Luca Gardini

“CeniPrimo” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole DOCG 2021
Since summer 2023, Chianti Classico producers have been allowed to include the eleven additional geographical indications (UGA = unità geografiche aggiuntive) introduced in 2021 on the labels of the top Gran Selezione category. For Chianti Classico winegrowers, it is a logical step to produce wines that reflect the area in which they were produced as authentically as possible. And customers can thus deepen their knowledge of the relationship between the wines and their region of origin - a real added value.
As a result of extensive soil analyses, Francesco Ricasoli was able to identify three micro-vineyards, which will be vinified separately from the 2015 vintage onwards. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione range now comprises three cru sites (Colledilà, Roncicone and Ceniprimo) in addition to the famous Castello di Brolio, all of which are planted 100% with Sangiovese. In close correspondence with their terroir, they differ in structure and flavour and impressively demonstrate the complexity of the Chanti Classico region.
CeniPrimo is a single-varietal Sangiovese from soils characterised by the course of a former river. It is a 6.4 hectare plot that was planted in 1998 with a south-west exposure. This site is located in a valley along the Arbia river, and the soils here are very complex with alluvial soil and clay that contains little organic matter and less limestone.
Intense, fresh and bright bouquet of violets and wild spicy notes. Elegant acidity and fine mineral slate traces on the palate. Cherry, blackberry, plum, white pepper and a touch of rosemary lead this perfectly structured wine into a never-ending, multi-layered finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very multi-faceted flavour with crisp raspberries, small cherries, wild berries and earthy nuances. Cool and firmly defined, grippy style, mineral nuances, savoury final. Needs time." Weinwisser
"Intense, sparkling ruby colour, slightly brightening garnet rim. Very clear nose, aromas of fresh plums and blackberries, some blood orange in the background. Polished on the palate, opens up with lots of fine tannins, juicy, spans a wide range." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione CeniPrimo 2021 is another powerful wine from Ricasoli. Here it is the breadth and textural presence of the wine that stand out the most. Dark red fruits, dried flowers, spices and earthy notes abound. I would be tempted to give this wine a year or two in the bottle." Vinous
"The Barone Ricasoli 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole CeniPrimo shows a soft fruit structure with lots of sweet cherry and raspberry in the foreground. The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard planted in a muddy riverbed. As a result of these warm growing conditions, the CeniPrimo tends to have a fleshier fruit." Wine Advocate
"Medicinal herbs and vanilla weave through the dark red cherry. The ripe, dense, fleshy fruit is coated with plenty of dusty tannins, while zesty, citrusy acidity adds a refreshing, countering lift. It leaves resonant hints of leather, chinotto and earthy forest roots and deserves to cellar." Decanter
"This wine has a lot of energy with a crisp and lively flavour. Undertones of sour cherry, orange peel and cedar. It is medium-bodied, supple and racy. Very lively. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two when it comes together." James Suckling
"A ray of acidity runs through this sparkling red wine, giving it energy and driving its flavours of cherries, strawberries, minerals and spices. Ripe and supple at the same time, it firms up on the long and lively finish. All the elements together add up to great potential." Wine Spectator

In close correspondence with their terroir, they differ in structure and flavour and impressively demonstrate the complexity of the Chanti Classico region.
The Colledilà grapes come from the soils of Monte Morello. The 7.6-hectare single-vineyard plot was planted in 2002 on very rocky soils rich in calcium, clay and organic matter. These characteristics give this wine its sharpness and concentration, which promise long ageing in the cellar.
Ripe, dark cherry fruit and blackberry flavours, followed by tar, liquorice and potting soil. A fine earthiness, cherry and plum flavours on the palate, with finely knitted and slightly sweet tannins. The dense fruit and pleasant acid wire of the Sangiovese provide the necessary freshness. Masterfully composed! SUPERIORE.DE
"Mineral with smoky cherry fruit; super juicy style with fine red fruit fullness, vertical with elegant texture, polished tannins, juicy final." Weinwisser
"Noble, shiny ruby red colour. Dark and beguiling on the nose, notes of cold smoke, rosehip, cordial cherry and marzipan, comes in many layers. Ripe, juicy fruit on the palate on a finely woven tannin structure and animating acidity, great finesse and harmony through to the very persistent finish." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colledilà 2021 is bright, focussed and very expressive. Reddish fruit, blood orange, mint, spices and rose petals race across the palate. This lively, nuanced Gaiole Gran Selezione has so much to offer. Once again, the Colledilà is the most charming of the Gran Seleziones in this range." Vinous
"Evocative scents of jasmine, fennel and thyme flowers unfold against a dusty, stony background. The palate is concentrated, with dark cherries and blackberries surrounded by muscular tannins with a very chalky texture. A powerful acidity unfolds on the finish. Still dense, with some wood notes to digest." Decanter
"Fresh and crisp with orange peel, cherries, raspberries and a hint of raw meat. It is medium-bodied with medium-round tannins and a juicy finish. Polished and creamy. Slightly chewy and crisp on the finish." James Suckling
"The Barone Ricasoli 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole Colledilà opens with dark fruit but, perhaps more importantly, with a slate-like mineral note that adds focus. This mineral note appears in all of these beautiful Gran Selezione wines from winemaker Francesco Ricasoli, but in the case of this bottle it lends a dark or slightly brooding personality. The finish is absolutely savoury and salty." Wine Advocate
"Packed with cherry, raspberry and pomegranate flavours, this red is also juicy and almost racy in profile, with a deep vein of mineral and peppery spice notes that intensify on the long finish. It shows excellent balance and grace, and the best is yet to come." Wine Spectator
"A monumental "Grosse Auslese", from pure Sangiovese, from chalky-marly soils, with a strong presence of Alberese. The aroma is very rich, with notes of wild plums and eucalyptus, barley candy and laurel flavours. Spicy on the palate, with fruity notes and balsamic hints." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“Roncicone” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole DOCG 2021
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione range now includes three cru sites (Colledilà, Roncicone and Ceniprimo) in addition to the famous Castello di Brolio, all of which are 100% Sangiovese. In close correspondence with their terroir, they differ in structure and flavour and impressively demonstrate the complexity of the Chanti Classico region.
Cru Roncicone comes from soils with maritime deposits. It is a 10.1 hectare plot that was planted between 1998 and 2000 with a density of 6,000 plants per hectare. The soils are rich in marine fossils with sand at the top and thicker clay beneath the topsoil. Our impression of this wine is that it is the most immediate and softly structured.
Deep dark, fruity and smoky bouquet. Dark, violet-coloured fruit on the palate, paired with notes of forest floor, tobacco and a beautiful spiciness. The volume is full and deep, the tannins are very accessible even at a young age and the finish is flanked by a well-structured acidity framework, which will also ensure very good ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"At first a little unapproachable, then clear Sangiovese fruit with crisp cherries, sour cherries and earthy-tobacco nuances. Taut and vertically orientated, energetic, tightly woven, powerful style." Weinwisser
"Brilliant, rich ruby colour with a fine garnet rim. Finely characterised nose with notes of fresh dark cherries, some raspberry and blood orange, plus rich spicy components. Good tension on the palate, shows lots of juicy fruit, opens up with fine tannins, balanced and with a long finish." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Roncicone 2021 is a powerful, intensely mineralised wine. In this tasting, the Roncicone is not particularly open-minded, but one of the most restrained wines in the range. The harvestwill find a Gran Selezione with a lot of minerality but little energy." Vinous
"Gentle and pretty in its aromas, it is decidedly red-fruited. It offers redcurrants and raspberries with a hint of porcini mushrooms and espresso. It feels medium-bodied but fills the mouth, its long, fine, sandy tannins providing an elegant flow. Mineral with tangy acidity, it shows the juicy character of Sangiovese." Decanter
"This Chianti Classico has a fresh and tangy character with notes of oranges, cherries and sandalwood. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a creamy finish. The tannins are very light. It is drinkable now, but it will be even better in a year or two." James Suckling
"This red wine is a little shy today, revealing a core of ripe cherry, strawberry, rose and iron flavours supported by a lively acidity. Its tannins are refined and well integrated, while the finish is very long, savoury and intense." Wine Spectator
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole Roncicone 2021 offers energy and a great sense of concentration thanks to the elegant mineral tones of crushed shells and chalk that frame a core of elegant berry fruit. In fact, marine fossils are often discovered in this 10-hectare vineyard. I love the precision and straightforwardness of the silky and lingering finish. The personality is refined and subtle." Limitation of 6 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “Vigna Nastagio” DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Nastagio (also known as Nastasio) is the name of an ancient farmhouse of the Fattoria di Sant'Angelo, which was already recorded in the maps of Grand Duke Leopold. Brunello Nastagio is released on the market five years after the harvest, as if it were a Riserva, and is the result of the many years of experience that Col d'Orcia has gained in the development and cultivation of the Sangiovese vineyard. It is also the result of the many research chapters that Col d'Orcia has been carrying out with the University of Florence for more than twenty years. The ageing in tonneaux (500 Liters) oak barrels and then in the traditional large "botti" represent an ideal combination between tradition and modernity, while maintaining the essential aspect of longevity.
Like a Riserva, Nastagio always comes onto the market a year later. It offers a rich bouquet of crushed black cherries with hints of brown spices and sage, enhanced by notes of white smoke, cedar wood and dried roses that give it finesse. Initially somewhat restrained, it then becomes seductively smooth as the sweet red fruits are quickly contrasted by lively acidity and savoury spices and the fine tannins build slowly towards the end. The finish is long, structured yet balanced and reminiscent of tart wild berries with hints of red liquorice and pretty flowers. It is already a marvellous young wine, but it can still age for over a decade in the cellar and has earned its Riserva status. SUPERIORE.DE
"This selection is somewhat more expressive than the Annata, with spicy, smoky notes. In the mouth it is denser, tighter and more intense, perhaps a touch riper, more expressive, but retains a beautiful linear orientation with firm tannins and a fine grip." Weinwisser
"Dark ruby red with subtly brightening edges. Initially somewhat restrained on the nose, bacon, smoke, rubber, after some time in the glass beautiful ripe raspberry fruit, dried tomato and graphite. Full-bodied in the mouth with rich tannins, without missing its juiciness, currently in an impetuous phase, but shows a lot of character, finishing on fine ferrous tones." Falstaff
"A powerful, muscular red wine with flavours of black cherries, plums, earth, minerals and wild herbs. This wine is like a monolith today, solid and angular, with a matrix of dense tannins on the finish, yet remains fresh." Wine Spectator

“Winkl” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2023 · MAGNUM
Winkl is the winery's second cult wine after the iconic South Tyrolean Sauvignon, Quarz. A wonderfully accentuated wine. Sauvignon Winkl smells of lime, mandarins and mint with a hint of apricot, the bouquet is also reminiscent of crushed rock. Full of character on the palate with a fine acid wire, complex, well-structured, rich in flavour and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Crystalline bouquet with finely characterised fruit, fine yellow fruit and fresh herbs. Well-proportioned on the palate, very balanced with a fine mellowness and linear orientation." Weinwisser
"Bright, brilliant straw yellow with a greenish tinge. Grassy notes of gooseberry, some pink grapefruit, followed by blackcurrant. Fresh on the palate, pleasantly crisp, linear, opens up well with exotic fruit, light and pleasantly spicy in the medium final." Falstaff
"Flavours of melon, grapefruit sorbet, lemon curd, chive blossom and pickled ginger glide over the palate of this creamy white wine, which has good length and concentration. Expressive without excessive weight, while the mineral finish is moulded by a racy acidity." Wine Spectator

Limitation of 2 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “La Casa” DOCG 2019
Caparzo's La Casa vineyard, located in an enviable position on the hill of Montosoli, has been vinified separately since 1977 and is one of the first single-vineyard bottlings in Montalcino. Like regular Brunello, La Casa has a surprising underlying acidity that gives the wine brightness and focus, the northern exposure of the parcel certainly playing a role. Fresh herbs and pomegranate contrast with nuances of sun-baked earth and incense. On the palate, the wine is very full-bodied and concentrated, with tactile tannins, yet remains fresh and flowing at all times. SUPERIORE.DE
"Even on the nose, it is much more complex and interesting than the "normal" Brunello, with ripe candied cherries, fine floral notes, violets, lavender, but also mineral and earthy notes such as iron. Very elegant and quite precise on the palate, intense and present, with wonderfully ripe tannins and sweet berries, showing origin and character with a multi-layered final and powerful Sangiovese spice." Weinwisser
"Intense, finely spiced bouquet with fresh berry flavours, also a floral component; solid texture, the tannin-acid structure in balance, polished finish on notes of stone fruit, tobacco and eucalyptus." Vinum
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Filigree and multi-layered expression on the nose, reminiscent of raspberries and blackberries, dried tomatoes and balsamic tones. Opens up smoothly on the palate, fine-meshed, grippy tannins at the core, dark fruit, fine balsamic notes, long finish." Falstaff
"Subtle power and plenty of cherry, plum and mineral flavours in this soft red wine, plus a hint of wild herbs. It's quite fluid and open, with a slight tannic abrasion on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"Subtle mocha and crushed allspice emerge, then finally wild, red forest berries. The palate is more exuberant, revealing a generous core of pure, delicious raspberries infused with vanilla and liquorice. The gravelly tannins remain firmly anchored and need time to resolve. An appetising, stony finish." Decanter
"The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa 2019 comes from the hills of Montosoli, opposite the town of Montalcino. It is youthfully moody and dark in the glass, slowly evolving with violet flowers, crushed wild berries and sweet spices. Silky and supple, it swings across the palate with a juicy texture of mineral red fruits, while floral notes resonate on the inside and grippy tannins come in towards the end. The Vigna La Casa finishes long, structured and classically dry, leaving a hint of liquorice and a touch of tart orange lingering on the tongue. The future is very promising, but the 2019 will require a lot of patience." Vinous
"The Caparzo 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa offers a balanced presentation of candied cherries, dried fruit and toasted spices. This is a beautiful and joyful wine with velvety soft tannins and good internal energy that adds dimension and depth to the mouthfeel. Vigna La Casa is a contemporary expression of Montalcino with added fruit concentration and structure, and the results are carefully balanced throughout." Wine Advocate
"Flavours of blueberries, blackberries and chocolate, yet subtle and perfumed. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and plenty of structure. Shows depth and has a purpose. Needs time to develop soon. Try it after 2027." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Argiano recently caused an international sensation with its Brunello 2018, when the renowned Wine Spectator ranked it as the 8th best wine in the world in 2023. It is fermented in cement tanks and matured slowly in oak wood; its fruit comes from a 22-hectare vineyard with limestone marl soils. Now comes the follow-up vintage, and it is not only very promising because it already perfectly reflects the extraordinary Montalcino year 2019 in its own unique way.
Dark yet floral in the glass, with a hint of crushed stone and violet pastilles embellishing the black cherries. Energetic yet silky-smooth on the palate, with cooling minerality and juicy acidity that layers masses of tart wild berries over a core of savoury minerals. The primary fruit is young and agile and the grippy tannins, which envelop the entire palate, guide it into a long, savoury final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, concentrated aroma, dark red fruit, touch of orange peel, earthy, pithy and powerful. Lots of substance in the mouth, juicy structure with pressure and freshness, very complex and wide-ranging, ripe with penetrating freshness and flavour, lingers forever with good structure. Already fun now, but will certainly benefit from further bottle ageing." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red with cherry-red reflections. Dried berries on the nose, slight hints of coffee grounds and black tea, with a hint of liquorice on the finish. Energetic on the palate, precise acidity and good juiciness, plus creamy fruit, flows along fruit-emphasised, still a little young on the final, good foresight." Falstaff
"Brilliant, deep ruby red with orange-coloured reflections. Powerful, concentrated fruit nose with spicy hints. Lots of tangy fruit and ripe, grainy tannins that form a very good balance. Long, chewy, deep fruit. This wine will develop well over the next few years." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 is strongly reminiscent of the village and exudes savoury, sweet herbs, rose and bergamot. Generously weighted with juicy strawberries and cherries, it fills the mouth without feeling heavy. Spicy mandarin provides freshness. Long, chalky tannins caress the palate with increasing firmness as it flows confidently across the palate. Rosemary and sage linger on the finish." Decanter
"Crushed ash stones, cloves, dried black cherries, rosemary and balsamic herbs form a spice box as the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. The Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly fresh and energising, almost juicy, yet refined and focused, with a silky texture that brings out crisp wild berry and orange tones that slowly saturate the palate. The finish is spicy and long, its energy never flagging, with grippy tannins that tug at the cheeks as the liquorice and cranberry notes fade." Vinous
"The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is stronger than the previous 2018 and 2017 vintages, thanks to the precision and focus of its fruit flavours in this balanced vintage. It shows ample depth and volume, with sweet cherry and blackberry flavours leading into gently toasted spice and earth. Floral hints of lilac and iris make a brief but incisive appearance. Velvety tannins and a beautifully concentrated, medium-bodied palate ensure good persistence." Wine Advocate
"Delicious flavours of juicy red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and wild bush, along with hints of juniper and ground herbs. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and crisp acidity. Spicy and savoury with a nice balance and finish. Lots of fruit on the finish. Give it more time to develop." James Suckling
"This wine is packed with ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit, with floral, mineral, juniper and wild herb accents adding depth and complexity. There's also plenty of energy and structure, providing excellent balance, with a long finish." Wine Spectator
"Red cherry, then notes of wild mint, with a finish on hints of blood-orange peel. Dense-citrusy drinkability, iodized tannins." Luca Gardini

“Löwengang” Chardonnay Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2020 (BIO)
Sparkling, rich straw yellow colour, rich, complex aroma with a delicate, pleasantly creamy nose and the scent of vanilla, mango and fresh pineapple. Full, opulent and full of tension on the palate, juicy and salty, very elegant flavour, accompanied by a fresh, well-balanced acidity. The ideally integrated wood note and the fruity, complex body form a harmonious and impressive unit. The long-lasting finish is refined with a subtle hint of bitter almond. SUPERIORE.DE
"Beautiful flint notes, meadow flowers and limes on the nose. Fine grip on the palate, herbal notes and fresh fruit perfectly balanced, white flowers, long, animating acidity, salty finish." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, pale straw yellow with light green nuances. Opens with a cool hint of mint, nectarine and gooseberry, some flint. Shows emphatically fresh notes on the palate, savoury, persistent, quite light-bodied overall." Falstaff
"The Alois Lageder 2020 Chardonnay Löwengang opens with an elegant hint of reduction, reminiscent of flint or burnt matches. It lifts quickly to reveal pear, quince, golden apple, honey glaze, vanilla wafer and saffron. There's a spicy side too, with pink peppercorns and plenty of glacier-like minimalism." Wine Advocate
"The Löwengang Chardonnay is an icon of Italian Chardonnay and continues to demonstrate the Lageder winery's commitment to producing wines of the highest quality. Aromas of spiced baked apples, Comice pears, candied lemon peel, white flowers and baking spices are present. On the palate, the wine is rich and broad, with a creamy texture and hints of vanilla and sweet and savoury spices. The wine finishes with the energy and pulse of the mountains, showing both the minerality and important acidity that gives this wine the structure for the long haul." Wine Enthusiast
"A rich white wine in a graceful frame, with a pronounced salinity that works with vibrant acidity to define the medley of baked pineapple and persimmon, toasted almonds and pastry cream, Meyer lemon peel and elderflower. Expressive and well-knit, with a long finish that reflects the spectrum of flavours and contains additional mineral and spicy elements." Wine Spectator
"Deep nose with a sharp mineral undertone to the complex flavours of white sesame, praline, grilled spices and roasted pineapple. Broad and savoury on the palate with medium to full body and a very tangy, engaging finish. Long, savoury and concentrated." James Suckling
"The Chardonnay Löwengang, which was first produced in 1984, is a prime example of the variety in Alto Adige. It comes from the best plots of 30 to 80-year-old Chardonnay vines in Magrè, near the winery, and is fermented spontaneously in barriques, followed by 11 months on the lees. The result in 2020 is a wine reminiscent of a Puligny, with a nose of flint and matches that introduces a clean and fresh, intense, savoury and persistent palate. The juicy complexity of melon, stone fruit and tropical fruit gives it a wonderful vibrancy and potential for medium-term cellaring." Decanter

“Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia” Bolgheri DOC 2021
Beguiling aroma of sweet, dark berries with a hint of cassis, cedar wood and antique leather. Very balanced on the palate, beautifully viscous with an elegant melt. Fine-meshed tannins, restrained mineral tones and wonderfully polished fruit accompany a remarkable finish. For all its elegance, it shows pressure and power and, with the right dose of acidity, promises a long life and almost reaches the level of its famous big brother. SUPERIORE.DE
"Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2021 is the result of a first-class and extremely satisfying vintage and allows the good tannin quality and well-dosed concentration that characterise the wines of this vintage to shine through. In the glass, it impresses with a brilliant ruby red colour with the usual violet reflections. The nose is fresh with notes of pink pepper and cypress cones, reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, the wine is elegant, with a beautiful acidity and a long, spicy final that invites you to take a second sip." Olga Fusari, Oenologist
"Almost black in the glass. Subtle fragrance, delicate fruity notes of blackberry, blueberry and some elderberry. A subtle hint of coconut wood. Also dark fruity on the palate, velvety with fine-grained tannins, embedded acidity and a fine herbal flavour. Very balanced and harmonious, young but with great potential. Long and fresh, juicy finish." Vinum
"The Serre Nuove is the second wine of the Ornellaia and is also a Bordeaux blend that consists of about half Merlot. Rich aroma with flavours of red-blue fruits such as blackberry, blueberry and ripe plums. The palate is also rich and dark-fruity with a velvety texture and fine-grained tannins, good acidity and a fine herbal flavour. Balanced and harmonious, still very youthful, but with great potential." Weinwisser
"The 2021 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a beautifully extracted and rich blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This vintage is very generous, even opulent, with dark fruits framed by exotic spices, baking chocolate and soft toasty tones from French oak. The wine finishes on a creamy note with vanilla and cinnamon. The oak needs a few more years to integrate." Wine Advocate
"A sophisticated red wine, complex and perfumed, with aromas and flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, violets and iron. It builds beautifully, showing its balance and releasing the dense tannins at the end. This wine should develop well." Wine Spectator
"A powerful and straightforward red wine with blackcurrant, berry, chocolate and cedarwood flavours. It is medium to full-bodied. Fine tannins that extend over the entire length of the wine. It is dense and concentrated. Energetic and bright. Still needs time, better after 2026." James Suckling
"Sparkling, rich ruby red with a light violet rim. Noble and delicate nose of red currants, ripe plums and rich sour cherries, with a subtle hint of leather and a hint of mint in the background. Velvety tannins on the palate, well-balanced, with a fruity, elegant and long-lasting finish." Falstaff
"The 2021 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia has enormous power. Masses of dark fruit, dark chocolate, leather, liquorice and cloves saturate the palate. I can't recall a Serre Nuove with this much sheer power and dark intensity, but the balance is there, especially with aeration. It will be interesting to see how the 2021 develops. It's quite a powerhouse today." Vinous
"Pungent, meaty umami flavours dominate the nose, but dark fruit and a tangy, metallic component prevent these notes of smoke, pepper and tar from becoming overpowering. Undertones of vanilla and chocolate lift the fruit on the palate, but unyielding tannins and energetic acidity ensure that the savoury earthiness persists." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo Coste di Rose DOCG 2020 (BIO)
The latest addition to Vajra's Barolo line-up comes from a 1.5-hectare plot in Coste di Rose, a small MGA (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive) in the Barolo region. This is a steep slope at 310 metres above sea level with a high proportion of sandy soils with good drainage, whose vines and soils are cultivated close to nature. This very accessible Barolo is straightforward, forward and impresses even at a young age with its refreshing candour. A very precise bouquet of cherry, plum, liquorice, spices and menthol, followed by a broad and multi-layered fruity palate with plenty of juice and power, supportive tannins and a full, long, mineral and minty finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Compared to Bricco delle Viole, Coste di Rose is characterised by sandstone soils at lower altitudes of 340 to 350 metres above sea level. Elegant bouquet with fine red fruit and blue berries, plus smoky and floral tones reminiscent of violets and rose petals. In the mouth, a finely spun, fragrant Barolo with an elegant acidic nerve and juicy fruit sweetness in the finish." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby colour with a slight garnet sheen. Clear and memorable, opens with notes of dried roses, then some cloves, plus plenty of plums. Juicy on the palate, shows very good tension, savoury, present, fine-meshed tannins at the core, builds up over a long time." Falstaff
"Truly floral aroma. Very fruity, expressive and flattering. Just a little dry on the finish. Lots of energy." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Barolo Coste di Rose is an attractive, medium-bodied wine. Black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and liquorice are beautifully interwoven. The Coste di Rose is not the most complex Barolo in the range, but it offers plenty of pure appeal in a sensual, open style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring time." Vinous
"White pepper, dried roses, berries and minerals on the nose. Very elegant and chalky on the palate with a medium to full body and a linear finish. Pure and powerful." James Suckling
"Coste di Rose is the lowest of the Vajra vineyards and the most recent, 2015, was the first vintage. It is relatively unknown, although it is quite central between Canubi and Brunate. Red-fruited and forward, perhaps with a little less structure, red and blue berries, a hint of lavender and clove and raspberry leaves offer a bright, herbaceous character that lifts the finish." Decanter
"A Barolo of remarkable elegance and complexity. Sublime aromas of mixed wild berries, candied rose petals, cinnamon and whole cloves are accompanied by warm, earthy notes. Tart cherries and cranberries dominate the palate, with woody undertones and chewy tannins that add power without overpowering. Savoury and medicinal herbs linger on the finish, making this wine a captivating expression of this famous cru." Wine Enthusiast
"A beam of fresh cherries and strawberries permeate this graceful red wine, which is carried by a lively structure. Flashes of sun-kissed hay, iron and mint add depth as this wine builds to a lingering finish. Very harmonious, with a chalky sensation in the long, complex aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Eichhorn” Pinot Bianco Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2022 (BIO) · MAGNUM
"A little and a lot. Some call it Pinot Blanc. And yet. Our Pinot Bianco Eichhorn has an Alpine-Mediterranean flavour: bright and flowery like alpine meadows, long-lasting and spicy like the sea." Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg, Weingut Manincor
Eichhorn Pinot Blanc has a light golden colour with beautiful aromas of lemon peel, orange marmalade, some smoke and ripe pears. The flavour is clear, fruity and long. Modern classicism and casual elegance from Manincor. SUPERIORE.DE
"Highly elegant aroma with white flowers and peach, plus warm citrus fruit and yellow apple. Delicate and full of finesse on the palate, stimulating fresh acidity, citrusy, a hint of tannin gives the wine its fine, grippy texture." Weinwisser
"Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. Delicate on the nose with notes of ripe pear and meadow flowers. Smooth and precise on the palate, with a nice tension, gentle pressure, harmonious and long finish." Falstaff
"A crisp hint of lemon pith emphasises the light and pleasantly plump notes of ripe melon and apricot, salted Marcona almonds, ground ginger and white flowers. It is bright and elegant, with a snappy, mineral finish." Wine Spectator
"Lots of flowers, dried apples, dried peaches, stones, lime and lemongrass on the nose. It is medium-bodied with subtle flavours and a tangy, fresh finish. A little restrained." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
Castello Romitorio's 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a classic expression of the 5-star vintage in Montalcino (consortium rating), showing plenty of ripe fruit, minerality, herbal nuances and varietal purity. This wine hits the sweet spot between elegance and power, which is not easy to achieve. It offers a wide range of Sangiovese flavours with wild cherry, forest floor, crushed clove and medicinal herbs, but it also shows a plump density and a velvety texture. Filippo Chia and his team have created a highly attractive Brunello for medium to long drinking. SUPERIORE.DE
"Densely spicy, compact bouquet with dark cherry, tart fruit and spice on the palate; compact, powerful style with a racy finish, very classic, noticeable tannin and grip, beautiful freshness and spice on the final." Weinwisser
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Ripe cherry, milk chocolate and cold smoke on the nose, roasted almonds and mint on the finish, multi-layered. Lively entry on the palate, precise acidity and fresh fruit, taut and juicy, fine-grained tannins, with grip, persistent and balanced on the finish, with elegant iron tones." Falstaff
"Brilliant ruby red colour. Somewhat spicy and still quite dense on the nose. Compact cherry fruit on the palate with plenty of depth. Adequate concentration with plenty of supple acidity and a core of gravelly tannins. Still needs some time, but is very promising. Beautiful label." Jancis Robinson
"Polished and refined wine with flavours of wild strawberries, dark cherries and violets, rich and full-bodied with balanced, soft acidity. Firm and fine-grained tannins. Energetic. Better after 2027." James Suckling
"The charming 2019 from Romitorio emphasises the juiciness of Sangiovese. It delights with aromas of sweet, damp earth, sage and cocoa. Spacious and airy on the palate, where juicy, citrus-like acidity drives flavours of pomegranate and orange. Elegantly framed by fine, slender tannins. A woody intensity emerges on the finish. A pleasure even at this youthful stage." Decanter
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens with dried cassis and cranberry, and there is a hint of something floral and fragile, like crushed red rose petals or potpourri. However, the wine also shows a growing momentum, especially as it opens up in the glass and you start to recognise dark spices, cloves, bay leaf and thyme. There's a hint of sweetness in the mid-palate, even some dried raspberry, which makes the wine more approachable overall." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is seductively dark and spicy, exuding an earthy blend of crushed stones, savoury herbs, spiced blood oranges and dried cherries in the glass. The palate is spoilt by its soft texture and the deep fruit of wild berries. Lively acidity and mineral tones give it lift, but also depth. The 2019 finishes dramatically long and structured, youthfully withdrawing into itself as orange and rosy floral flavours linger. The house style comes into its own here, emphasised by the radiant fruit of the 2019 vintage." Vinous
"The result of thirty years of research and selection of the most suitable parcels is a compact Brunello with notes of Marasca on the nose, with a hint of wild mint and a touch of soya. In the mouth it is salty and taut, the tannins are perfectly integrated into the body and the finish is long and persistent." Luca Gardini
"Notable for its pure cherry and kirsch aromas and flavors, this red is also stylish and graceful. Rose, wild thyme and stony mineral elements come into play as this develops on the palate. Beautifully integrated, fresh and firm, this glides to a long, resonant aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Quarz” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2022
The grapes for Terlan's Ikonen wine come from vineyards at an altitude of 300 to 550 metres with volcanic porphyry rock. Powerful, attractively exotic bouquet with bright gooseberries, mango and pink grapefruit, backed by a captivating mineral flavour. There is also lemongrass and herbal, ethereal notes. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, but not overloaded, instead deeply spicy, smoky, with a mineral-salty structure, followed by green-herbal notes in the focussed, mineral final. Every year, Quarz is one of the best Italian Sauvignon Blancs in its full splendour. As always, Cantina Terlano shows a skilful winemaker's hand in guiding the natural flavours of the grape, but also in delivering a very elegant interpretation. SUPERIORE.DE
"The name Quarz is derived from the quartz inclusions in the porphyry. A powerful, smoky bouquet with fine Sauvignon Blanc fruit, blackcurrant, elderberry and hints of herbs and minerals. In the mouth, it is initially taut and tightly woven, but then also melting with a fine texture and marvellous accompanying mineral spice." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, light straw yellow with a greenish tinge. Finely characterised nose, opens with notes of gooseberries and fragrant elderflower, with spicy sage components in the background. Present, very well-developed fruit on the palate, extremely juicy with notes of white peach and lemon balm, very long, subtle salty notes on the final." Falstaff
"This lively, mineral white is long and graceful, with a hint of salinity that adds a delicious savoury note to the concentrated spectrum of nectarine, pink grapefruit granita, gooseberry, chive blossom and white pepper." Wine Spectator
"The Sauvignon Blanc Quarz 2022 is youthful and shy, opening with an airy bouquet of crushed stones mingling with dried flowers, a hint of petrol and nectarines. On the palate, it is a pure pleasure, soft and round, with juicy acidity and ripe citrus fruit mingling with salty, mineral notes. The 2022 finishes with excellent length and tension, leaving a hint of tart citrus notes. The 2022 is intense and made for the cellar." Vinous
"Aromas of fresh grass, lime and stone are followed by a medium body with bright acidity and a creamy texture. Intense, with plenty of length and flavour. Taut and polished." James Suckling

Limitation of 6 articles per customerBarolo DOCG 2020
The grapes for the estate's classic Barolo (first harvest in 1881) come from the vineyards/communes of Ornato, La Serra, Briccolina in Serralunga d'Alba, Gustava and Garretti in Grinzane Cavour, Roncaglie in La Morra, Ravera in Novello and, from the 2015 vintage, also from Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba. It is more of a traditional, classic Barolo with an exciting bouquet of deep, dark fruit and a pretty potpourri of rose petals, spices, smoke and tar. It is full-bodied and firm on the palate, opening up with plenty of dense tannins, very powerful, with pressure and a full bite on the finish, designed for a long life. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ingratiating aromas of forest fruits, flowers and mushrooms; supple texture, the acidity well integrated, tightly woven tannin, ends on flavours of ripe stone fruit and spices." Vinum
"Dense, fruity bouquet with rich red fruit and ripe cherries. An intense, juicy-melting drink, ripe cherries, modern Barolo, juicy finish, polished tannins, lingers with ripe fruit." Weinwisser
"Medium transparent garnet red colour with a slightly brightening rim. Fine and elegant aromas of wild berries, sour cherries, some blood orange and light herbal flavours on the nose. Gripping on the palate with flavours of black tea, very present tannins and a multi-layered final." Falstaff
"Sourced from vineyards spreads across the region, this 2020 offers a gentle aroma of cherry and forest berries, sous bois and a touch of menthol. There's more verticality and intensity here compared to the Barbaresco, with fine, round tannins, all wrapped up in some energetic acidity. Dark cherry, mint and hints of liquorice and herbs define this classy effort." Decanter
"A blend of cherry, strawberry, rose, tar and underbrush aromas and flavours highlight this elegant, solid red wine. Smooth in texture until dusty tannins emerge on the finish. Overall very balanced, with a very long finish." Wine Spectator
"Very primary fruit with beautiful flavours of peaches, strawberries, berries and flowers. It is medium to full-bodied, with the character of bitter citrus, cedar, chocolate and coffee beans. Firm on the finish. It needs two or three years to open up and will mature for a very long time." James Suckling

Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Chianti Classico by Giovanni Manetti offers a profound, densely woven and still very youthful bouquet of dark and red berries and fine spicy notes. The dry, cherry flavour with long-lasting impressions, well-extracted tannins and the acidity typical of Sangiovese show a clearly recognisable terroir character. Very clear, straightforward, long, always fresh and juicy, with excellent strength and balance. SUPERIORE.DE
"A classic, on the palate it is polished, dense, velvety, with harmonious acidity and spicy again. All in all, the development remains to be seen." Weinwisser
"Youthful ruby red colour. Subtle but seductive bouquet of sweet red fruits with meaty notes and a hint of laurel. Lots of juice on the palate and plenty of grainy but ripe tannins, which harmonise perfectly with the juicy fruit." Jancis Robinson
"Brilliant, medium ruby red colour. Elegant on the nose with notes of coffee, cherry, underlaid with nuances of forest floor. Linear on the palate, with invigorating acidity and a very fine tannin structure, harmonious through to the exceptionally long finish." Falstaff
"The Fontodi 2020 Chianti Classico, a certified organic wine, shows dark fruits and blackberries with earthy notes of gravel, reflecting the slate soils in this area of the appellation." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 version has all the ripe dark fruit and assertive tannins that are so well balanced. Grilled meat, baked earth and thyme flirt with black plum. The youthful juiciness has the energy to carry this wine over the next eight or more years. It finishes with its characteristic bitter liquorice note." Decanter
"The Chianti Classico 2020 offers remarkable tension to balance the natural richness that is so typical of this wine. There is plenty of Panzano intensity, but less opulence than has been the norm in the past. The switch to a larger oak format and bottling four months earlier contribute to this impression. Dark red cherry, leather, spices, rose petals, dried herbs and wild flowers adorn this nuanced Chianti Classico. It will be interesting to see in which direction this bottling develops. I wouldn't open it too young." Vinous
"Rich and velvety, with flavours of black cherries, blackberries, violets and minerals. The wine is driven by lively acidity and supported by well-integrated tannins. Excellent balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Subtle flavours of sliced strawberries and cherries with some orange zest follow through to a medium body with juicy tannins and a bright and tangy finish. This wine has wonderful energy. So good now." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Pianrosso” DOCG 2019
Pianrosso comes from a south-west facing vineyard in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone at an altitude of around 300 metres with mainly Galestro soils. It is dark, rich and deeply seductive, showing ripe black fruit enveloped in hints of gravel, sage and exotic spices. Although it has a velvety and almost creamy texture, it finds harmony through juicy acids and a blend of ripe black cherries and plums. Notes of liquorice and baker's chocolate balance the salty minerality and fine-grained tannins of the Pianrosso in a long and dramatic final. For a wine with such power, this is a beautiful symmetry. Definitely put it away for a few more years. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Cru is a selection of the best vines. Dark, spicy bouquet, extremely complex and multi-faceted, beguiling with fresh, ethereal, smoky and herbaceous notes reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs, with mineral, salty hints and floral nuances (rose petals, violet blossom), backed by redcurrant. Dense and powerful on the palate with a core of fresh, juicy fruit, very cleverly arranged, skilfully framed by fine, polished, almost sweetish tannins that linger on forever, very elegant, with dark, ethereal-balsamic spicy notes on the long final." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby colour with a bright garnet rim. Finely drawn, appealing nose with clear notes of rosehip, crisp cherries, some blood orange and clove. Opens on the palate with pithy, gripping tannins, flows calmly, with a lovely sweet mellowness on the finish, very good tension, savoury and long." Falstaff
"Sweet berries and cherries on the nose, along with fresh violet and lilac notes. Full-bodied with juicy tannins and a spicy finish that opens up on the palate. Lots of ripe cherry flavour. Also tar. A rich and multi-layered Pianrosso. One of the bigger, riper wines of the vintage." James Suckling
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso tempts the imagination with a darkly alluring bouquet that keeps the taster at the edge of the glass as a cooling whiff of smoke gives way to dried flowers, cedar and exotic spice. It flows across the palate with textures of pure silk, finessed and graceful, with depths of intense red and black fruits that slowly saturate. The 2019 turns inward upon itself through the finish, tannic and long with notes of licorice and cacao bean. This is a serious rendition of Pianrosso that will require patience to enjoy fully. That said, it’s sure to be worth the wait." Vinous
"Pianrosso is a selection from the vineyard of the same name: 11 hectares in the lower south-east of Montalcino. The grapes were harvested between 11 September and 4 October 2019, which suggests a classic vintage. It shines with its earl grey tea aroma, combined with dark cherry, cinnamon, liquorice and a floral bouquet. The fruit character is very dark and precise; marvellous in this vintage. Full-bodied, dense and velvety with firm, long yet integrated acidity, it tapers off on the finish, but this is a sign of its elegance." Decanter
"The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso opens with a broad and all-encompassing bouquet of dried cherries or cherry pie with crust, plum cake and rose potpourri. There are obvious oak tones, but they fade into underbrush, grilled herbs and the generous texture of this wine. Even the 15% alcohol content disappears into the fleshy fruitiness of the wine. Certainly this is a wine that needs more bottle age to develop the suppleness and beautiful freshness of such an important Sangiovese." Wine Advocate
"A cornerstone of the typology, we are in the south-east region of the denomination, a stone's throw from Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Rich nose, notes of red mulberries, then rosemary and hints of Peranzana olives. The flavour is spicy, with a return of red mulberry and iodised nuances." Luca Gardini
