“Alanera” Rosso Veneto IGT 2021
Some of the Alanera grapes are air-dried before fermentation using the appassimento method to promote the concentration of flavours. Dark ruby red in colour. On the nose, the aroma of dried and fresh cherries, with a hint of coffee and sweet tobacco. The palate is berry-fresh with a lovely acid wire and fine tannins. A full, round wine for many occasions. SUPERIORE.DE
"A well-balanced, medium-bodied version, with light, creamy tannins. A touch of plum skin acidity enlivens this red's flavors of black and red cherry, woodsy spices, dried thyme and smoke." Wine Spectator
"Crushed blackberries, sage, and hints of white smoke form a dusty bouquet as the 2021 Rosso Veronese Alanera opens in the glass. It is soothingly round and supple, with ripe red and blue fruits complicated by white pepper and saline minerals toward the close. Suggestions of tart cranberry and citrus mingle as the 2021 finishes with medium length and a gentle tug of fine tannin." Vinous
"Aromas of raspberries, game, licorice and smoke. Full-bodied with dense, silky tannins and crisp acidity. Savory, ripe fruit with a slightly cooked finish, otherwise enjoyable and easy to drink. Drink now." James Suckling

“Controdanza” Rosso Sicilia Noto DOC 2020
The country dance (controdanza) is a typical dance in which man and woman face each other and unite in graceful movements - depending on their gender, the dancers interpret the music in their own way. This wine is exactly the same: Nero d'Aola and Merlot - opposites attract and, with the right sensitivity, can harmonise and contrast wonderfully.
Strong purple colour. Mulberry and plum contrast with incense and balsamic notes. The grapes all come from chalky soils, which in turn creates a bridge and makes this young wine balanced and harmonious. Soft tannins and a beautifully integrated, delicate acidity carry Controdanza into a supple, medium-length finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium ruby colour with garnet-red reflections. Inviting on the nose, fruity flavours of cherry and wild berries, underpinned by spicy notes. Full fruit on the palate, dense tannins, mouth-filling, juicy with a lingering final." Falstaff
"Fragrant, with floral, spicy and mineral accents, this wine displays a creamy palette of plump cherry and warm fig fruit flavours, enveloping slightly chewy tannins. Fresh, long-lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"Aromas of baked cherries, mushrooms, basil and grated nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied with fine tannins. Beautifully ripe red fruits on the palate, with a subtle savoury character. Finishes with vanilla." James Suckling
"The nose starts with a balanced blend of vanilla and herbs, then becomes a little sharper, but remains balanced with flavours of pepper, pencil shavings and black cherries. On the palate, the tension between fruit and earth continues, with the cherries hovering over herbal, umami undertones. The acidity dances past the chewy tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Controdanza opens with a burst of wild berries and spices, complicated by chalk dust and hints of crushed violet candies. This is juicy and lively on the palate with vivid wild blueberry fruit and purple/blue inner florals that amass toward the close. It finishes classically dry with a pleasantly bitter tinge, leaving notes of licorice and sage to slowly fade." Vinous

Valpolicella Classico DOC 2023
This traditional cuvée is already inspiring in its youth. Made from outstanding grapes, you can taste the ripe fruit and richness of the three classic vineyards. Deep ruby-garnet colour with violet reflections. Full-bodied bouquet of dusty violets and roses, which fades into spiced confectionery and crushed cherries. The palate reveals fresh cherries, mixed herbs and undergrowth - all well balanced - giving the wine a lightness and at the same time a complexity that keeps you coming back for more. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright cherry red with violet reflections. Inviting nose of raspberry, cassis and dried roses. Youthful on the palate with a fruity-sweet finish, the drink is brisk and of medium length." Falstaff
"Delicate spice and herb notes are a fragrant thread winding through flavors of plum, cherry and smoke in this fresh red, with light, fine tannins." Wine Spectator
"Tart cherries and raspberries mingle with dried oregano and thyme on the nose. Earthy undertones and fine tannins grace the palate, as bright cherry flavors are added by vibrant acidity to lift the wine on the finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Reductive aromas of violets and camphor segue to black cherries and licorice root. This needs an aggressive decant, but the mouthfeel is polished and slick. The tannins are well wrought and compact. A full-weighted wine in a modern style that will have its fans." James Suckling

“Askos” Susumaniello Salento IGT 2022
Under the name Askos, Li Veli summarises a project in which long-forgotten, indigenous grape varieties are rediscovered and cultivated on the ideal terroir selected for them. Very harmonious on the palate, the tannin very well integrated and the Nebbiolo fruit and acid component present until the respectable finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Capitel Foscarino” Vino Bianco 2023
The aromatically fresh Capitel Foscarino made from Garganega and a pinch of Chardonnay is delicious. Brilliant colour in the glass, beguiling fruit on the nose, round and harmonious on the palate with wonderfully integrated acidity and beautiful, grippy length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense, bright straw yellow with golden reflections. Warm and inviting nose of juicy apricots, honeydew melon and a hint of lemon balm. Juicy on the palate, with animating acidity, medium body and beautiful length." Falstaff
"A mineral-driven white that's silky in texture and lightly mouthwatering, with smoke and oyster shell notes underscoring flavors of papaya, kiwi fruit and blood orange sorbet, plus accents of elderflower and cardamom." Wine Spectator
"A pungent nose with spicy, almost aniseed-like aromas of white fruit and stone fruit accompanied by a dense, mineral underpinning. Full-bodied, round and intense, with a hint of phenolic firmness driving the rich, ripe fruit through the long finish. A delicious white wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few years or even longer." James Suckling

“Mediterra” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Mediterra with its inviting aromas of paprika, redcurrant, elderberry, sage and black pepper is round and harmonious on the palate with beautiful fruit and spice. With its well-proportioned tannins and well-balanced acidity, Mediterra is a perfect accompaniment to food. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, dark ruby red colour. Aromas of dark plum, blueberries and black pepper on the nose. Soft and mouth-filling on the palate, with a noticeable woody note, slightly drying tannins, juicy fruit flavours and a hint of bitter almond." Falstaff
"This red is signaled by intense aromas of wild blackberry, black pepper, black olive and eucalyptus. Showing earth and underbrush accents that augment the fruity flavors, this firms up on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Mediterra is bright, effusive and wonderfully inviting. Crushed flowers, herbs, tobacco, spice and leather meld into a core of juicy dark blue/purplish fruit. The Mediterra offers all of the immediacy of Bolgheri but with tons of freshness more than opulence. It is a hugely appealing style, especially at this level, where wines are typically intended to be drunk essentially on release." Vinous
"Dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, mocha and ripe dark berries on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied and structured with firm but very fine tannins. Shows notes of toasted cedar and bitter spices yet very delicate with integration and balance. Smooth and polished finish." James Suckling

“Bric del Salto” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2023
Light ruby red colour. Bric del Salto interprets the famous Piedmontese grape variety in a direct and classic way. A fruity bouquet is combined with the spiciness typical of Neive. The palate is again clear, with precise fruit, the right dose of fine tannins - and an inspiring freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"A red of purity and grace, this features strawberry, cherry and raspberry fruit, with floral and mineral elements adding complexity. Harmonious and charming, with sneaky tannins lining the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2023 Dolcetto d'Alba Bric del Salto leaps from the glass with an exotic blend of blueberries, spice, graphite and game. The flavour profile is very Dolcetto, with just a hint of reduction, but the textural feel is very Nebbiolo-like. What a gem of a wine. It was aged for three weeks on the skins and in tank." Vinous
"The Dolcetto d'Alba Bric del Salto 2023 is macerated exclusively in stainless steel with the skins for 35 days. The process adds fragrant aromas of wild berries, roses and dried blueberries. The longer maceration time also makes this a better integrated wine. The tannins and acidity feel very harmonious. It is an elegant expression that has a particular finesse, especially for the often rustic Dolcetto grape." Wine Advocate

With an incredible readership of three million wine lovers, Wine Spectator is one of the oldest and world's leading wine magazines in the USA. Founded in 1976 by Bob Morrisey, this English-language trade magazine has been under the wing of American publisher and editor Marvin R. Shanken for over forty years.
The trade journal publishes fifteen issues a year and is dedicated to detailed comparisons of current vintages as well as price-determining wine evaluations according to the recognised 100-point system. All Italian wines were awarded for twenty-nine years by the famous wine critic and then editor-in-chief James Suckling, although since 2010, after his retirement into independence, the Italy-savvy wine expert Bruce Sanderson has taken over the exciting role.
The Wine Spectator publishes an annual Top 100 ranking in which the countless wineries, from the big names to the smaller, lesser-known vintners, compete together for the title of the best wines in the world. Among international trade magazines, the English-language Wine Spectator with its rigorous team of critics is one of the most important players in the field of wine evaluation and offers insights worth knowing about the wine industry.
