“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Elisabetta Geppetti's Saffredi is one of Italy's great red wines every year, full of elegance! Dark, polished ruby red colour with purple-violet edges. The explosive aroma of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, violets and oak spices is accompanied by fascinating spicy, ethereal and wonderfully floral accents with earthy tobacco notes. Dense and velvety on the palate, framed by firm tannins and a juicy freshness that leads the wine full of energy into an endless finish. The flavour profile, which is very typical of Saffredi, is wonderfully balanced, yet multi-layered and very focused with its spiciness. Saffredi 2021 is a genuine and multi-dimensional beauty that should mature for a few more years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex, elegant bouquet with fine concentration and precisely contoured fruit body, a basket of blue berries and ripe red cherries, plus a floral backdrop, violets, Mediterranean herbs and maquis as well as undergrowth. Polished, clear and radiant on the palate, juicy and tightly woven with velvety, super-fine tannins, a radiant and elegant Saffredi." Weinwisser
"Spicy-berry perfume, cassis, lots of dark fruit flavours, also nuances of black pepper; the attack is compact, the tannins fine-grained, carried by a soft acidity, finishes long and multi-faceted. Also very successful in this vintage." Vinum
"Dark ruby red core with purple nuances. Blackcurrant and mulberry on the nose, on damp earth, dark chocolate and alabaster. Dense on the palate, with tightly woven tannins, precise fear, comes in many layers, powerful, but with great finesse and incredibly long." Falstaff
"The Fattoria le Pupille 2021 Saffredi offers a seamless integration of dark fruit flavours that segue directly into spice, Tuscan cigar and earthy orris root. This vintage is compact and firm, especially in terms of mouthfeel, and there are graceful floral tones to close." Wine Advocate
"This pure, intense red wine displays aromas and flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and violets, underlined by graphite and wild herbs. Very tightly wound, even racy, with invigorating acidity and refined tannins, this noble red wine leans more towards the elegant side, with great harmony and length." Wine Spectator
"Fascinating aromas of sandalwood, lavender, sage and blackcurrant. Mint and spearmint. Pencil shavings. Also light coffee bean. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins. Lasts for minutes. Already so approachable now, but it will age beautifully. Best after 2026 and beyond." James Suckling
"The symbolic wine of the house, the first to put the winery and the region "on the map". Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, nose of small black fruits, notes of laurel, mint and Mediterranean herbs, taut and dense drink, with salty tannins, closes with a fruity and oily return." Barolo “Aleste” DOCG 2018 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
"This is our flagship wine, a Barolo recognised the world over, which we have always nourished and cared for with greatest respect. Nothing will change. This is why I will dedicate this special wine to my grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. From now on, it will carry their names." Luciano Sandrone on his intention to rename his world-famous Barolo Cannubi Boschis "Aleste" with the 2013 vintage.
This Barolo is a masterpiece by Luciano Sandrone in every respect. Not only a historic product but also the only cru of the house from the renowned Cannubi area in Barolo. Rich ruby, balsamic bouquet, ripe and sweet. On the palate with great suppleness, lots of fruit, dense tannins, very persistent final with Burgundian elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"The warm vintage shows itself in concentrated, wonderfully ripe fruit, but without going into over-ripeness. A duet of red and black cherries marry beautifully with the typical spicy and territorial notes. Concentrated and densely woven with initially somewhat powerful tannins that still need some time to fully integrate and round off. The assets, however, are very promising." Weinwisser
"Bright, radiant ruby garnet. In the nose great expression, of ripe raspberries, some rose hips, also reminiscent of wild strawberries, in addition noble leather and cigar box, reminiscent of graphite in the finish. Juicy and precise on the palate, opens with tension and a tightly woven tannin dress, swings along finely." Falstaff
"Mid Ruby. Great depth, precision and concentration, and vivid acidity framing the youthful raspberry fruit, which still needs to come out further on the palate. Firm but polished tannins. A finely balanced whole that still needs more bottle age. The subtlest of oak notes on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Fragrant purple flower, woodland berry and menthol aromas form the nose along with whiffs of spice. The elegant, medium-bodied palate offers juicy pomegranate, red currant and oak-driven spice set against an acidic backbone. Taut, fine-grained tannins leave a drying close." Wine Enthusiast
"Dried red berries and dried flowers, almost tobacco on the nose. Citrus and minty notes add character. Medium-to full-bodied, elegant and silky palate that thickens out with fine, creamy tannins as it progresses. Super texture to this, gently coating the palate. Rather firmer just at the end for now. Really refined and elegant." James Suckling
"An open-knit Barolo highlighted by plum, cherry, leather and tar flavors. Supple in texture before firming up, with dusty, refined tannins lingering on the finish. This should evolve nicely with some bottle age." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Barolo Aleste is gorgeous, but also very quite today. There's terrific purity to the dark red/purplish fruit and a good bit of volume too, but readers will have to be patient. Bright acids and firm tannins lend energy. I admire the presence and texture here. The Aleste, from Cannubi Boschis, benefits from a site that can handle moisture. This is nicely done." Wine Advocate
"South-eastern side of the Cannubi hill, a great classic of Sandrone in its classic version of finesse and persistence. Black cherry on the nose, with hints of cinnamon and eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is juicy and dense, with a return of fruit and sweet spices, rightly tannic, with a nice balsamic tension." Luca Gardini

Scrio - great Tuscan Syrah from Le Macchiole - is a true beauty. The persistent bouquet offers aromas of dark berries and cured meat, warm and balsamic on the palate with great intensity and dynamism, extracted and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pure varietal Syrah with a harmonious bouquet of red forest fruits and flowers, herbal notes, liquorice; elegant on the palate, fine-grained tannins, supporting acidity, nice progression towards flavours of plums, undergrowth and chocolate. Pleases with its supple make." Vinum
"Bright, intense ruby with a pronounced violet shimmer. Opens on the nose with notes of undergrowth, some pepper and galangal, then plum, some graphite. Stretches out great on the palate, grippy, fine-meshed tannin in many layers at the core, has pressure and juice, lots of plum in the finish." Falstaff
"Blackberry and black olive with black pepper and clove on the nose. Medium-bodied with round, creamy tannins and a juicy finish. Delicious fruit and texture. So enticing." James Suckling
"Expressive, this red features black cherry, blackberry, floral, mineral and toasted spice flavors. Dense, yet smooth in texture and balanced, with a lingering aftertaste that echoes the dark fruit and mineral flavors, along with a hint of licorice. Very pure and vibrant, this resonates on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Scrio is a wine of remarkable precision that has little, if anything, in common with previous vintages. Understated and gracious, with compelling aromatic presence, the 2019 is all class, all refinement. Bright red-fleshed fruit, spice and subtle earthy notes open nicely. The 2019 is such a gorgeous wine done in a style that emphasizes freshness and a much more ethereal expression of Syrah than was the norm some years ago. I can’t wait to see how it ages." Vinous
"The Le Macchiole 2019 Scrio benefits from reductive winemaking that is intended to lock in the natural fragrances and elegance of this versatile grape. It is fermented in stainless steel and cement and is partially aged in more oxygen-prone tonneaux. The rest goes into truncated cement vat and ceramic vessels. With Le Macchiole, you don't get a flabby over-extracted Syrah; instead, you get a polished and extremely elegant wine with a tight (trim but not lean) mouthfeel and beautifully integrated tannins. Only 3,800 bottles were made." Wine Advocate

“Percarlo” Sangiovese di Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO) · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Sangiovese in purezza. Wonderfully spicy aroma, dark forest berries and cherries, some graphite and cedar wood. On the palate, silky elegance, juicy, dark berry fruits, paired with an animating fruit-acid play that makes the wine really dance across the tongue. Percarlo has depth and length as well as potential for many years in the cellar. One of the great single-varietal Sangiovese of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE
"A vibrant, open-knit red, featuring black cherry, blackberry and plum fruit accented by iron, wild herbs and spices. Taut and linear, with a silky texture, lingering finish and resonant tannins. Shows terrific energy that builds from the beginning to the long, complex aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"One of the most well-known Sangiovese wines on the market is the San Giusto a Rentennano 2019 Percarlo. This organic wine has a touch of extra ripeness or richness that goes beyond the bouquet. You feel like you can bite into the fruit, and indeed the 2019 vintage stands out for its unique power and density. There's a lot to take in, and there's enough lingering fibre and fruit power to fill a long drinking window." Wine Advocate
"The Percarlo 2019 is a wine of restraint. The fruit is very pure and the tannins are very fine for this year, but also a little firm, which needs time to release. Bright red fruits, cedar, tobacco, liquorice, blood orange and spices open up nicely and play with the lively tannins. I suspect the 2019 will need a few years to reach its best level." Vinous

Chiara's Barolo from the Mosconi single vineyard of the same name is powerful, muscular and full of opulence. Rich, bright ruby red colour. Rich aromas of eucalyptus, wild rosemary, plum and black cherry. Deep and powerful on the palate with beautiful spicy accents, dense tannins and a very juicy structure. For us, this Barolo belongs in the top class of the appellation, it always carries its great weight with maximum elegance and is highly authentic, completely in the style of Chiara Boschis, who has once again delivered something really great here. Please leave it in the cellar for a few more years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Stately reception on notes of pomegranate and undergrowth, spiced up with aromas of dried flowers; the tannins are full of character and well integrated, the acidity accentuated: A well-fitting wine with finesse and style." Vinum
"Rich ruby colour with a slight garnet shimmer. Opens with notes of tea, plums and raspberries, some rosewood and incense. Grippy, well-placed tannins on the palate, emphasised earthy notes, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Though clearly focused on its cherry, raspberry and plum fruit flavors, this red also boasts savory elements of eucalyptus and woodsy underbrush. Well-endowed, with dense, dusty tannins that shape the compact finish." Wine Spectator
"Barolo Mosconi 2020 is a powerful, flavoursome wine. Black cherry, gravel, incense, menthol and liquorice all build in this virile, taut Monforte Barolo. The 2020 has a lot to offer, it's big and powerful. Spicy herbs, earthy notes and powerful minerals permeate the powerful finish. Outstanding." Vinous
"Mosconi 2020 has something of the special ripeness of the vintage with cherry cream syrup, grenadine, watermelon sweets and a drop of pastis. The wine finishes powerfully with a balanced combination of fruit and fine oak tannins. It is very lively on the palate and the fruit is very vibrant at this young stage." Wine Advocate
"Flavours of dried oysters and intriguing wet stones with a hint of lovely peppercorn funk to the cherries, hibiscus and plums. Broad and compact on the palate with a full body and plump morello cherries in the centre. Quite extensive and long, but transparent. Even more powerful than her exciting Cannubi from this vintage." James Suckling
"A Barolo of great olfactory and flavour significance. Notes of blackcurrant, a hint of undergrowth, white pepper and citrus notes, nuances of clementine. The mouthfeel is savoury, with a spicy return and floral notes." Luca Gardini

Altesinos Montosoli displays the famous characteristics of this particular site, which are always characterised by a pronounced mineral intensity, with hints of crushed granite and lead pencil layers. The five-hectare vineyard has a higher concentration of Galestro clay-slate rock, and the altitude contributes to the freshness of the wine.
Dark, haunting beautiful bouquet with ripe blackberries and cherries, spicy dark flowers and a hint of animal musk. Velvety textures on the palate, emphasised by tart red and black fruits, plus juicy acidity and a hint of fine tannin. The finish is long, elegant and mineral, with dark, floral notes, ripe blackberries and sweet spices. A real prime example from the extremely harmonious 2019 vintage! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, pure ruby red colour. Very fragrant nose of wild strawberries, blackberry candy, vanilla pod, with light spice, some mint and red peach on the finish. On the palate with a great fruit core, on stone fruit, fine sweetness, plus finesse-rich creaminess, comes in several layers, clear and elegant until the long finish." Falstaff
"This enticing wine is long, complex and harmonious, exuding macerated cherry, plum, lavender and spice flavors. The ripe fruit is offset by woodsy underbrush notes, all backed by a vibrant structure." Wine Spectator
"Harvested at the very end of September, the 2019 is introverted at first, but the nose eventually hints at porcini mushrooms with liquorice root and bark. On the palate, slender cherries and raspberries form the backdrop, but the earthy tone is pervasive. It's racy with soft, vertical tannins that settle in all the right places, showing a skilfully balanced structure and richness." Decanter
"A tantalising blend of macerated plums, blood oranges, sage and sweet smoke makes the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli a true delight on the nose. Elegant and soothing, it flows across the palate with a silky wave of ripe red fruit and spice, while salty minerals slowly saturate under a hint of purple inner flowers. The 2019 is seamless and harmonious, leaving a layer of edgy tannins competing with refreshing acidity, while hints of tart cranberry and a bitter hint of clove slowly fade away. This is Montosoli terroir at its best, and even at this early stage it's impossible to resist savouring another glass." Vinous
"The Altesino 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli, from a beautiful site that must be seen to be believed, smells of dark fruit, blackcurrant and slate. The mineral element of Montosoli and its slatey, galestro soils comes through beautifully in this vintage, giving the bouquet a linear sense of immediacy and verticality. The mouthfeel is particularly elegant and the wine's acidity is skilfully used to emphasise the freshness, but above all the quality of the fruit. The effect is very powerful and bright, and thanks to the careful ageing in Slavonian oak, you get a hint of baked brioche or Italian focaccia bread." Wine Advocate
"Perfumed and beautiful with raspberry and cherry aromas and flavours. Purity like a mountain stream. Medium to full body with ultra-refined tannins that are so polished and beautiful. Lasts for minutes. Beautiful and real." James Suckling

"Brilliant and of medium ruby colour. Deep, complex, brooding fruit with salty notes. Fantastic lightness combined with substance and energetic acidity. Long, polished and fine tannins. A finely tuned whole that needs more time." Jancis Robinson
"An integrated and well-crafted Barolo with floral and lemon zest in the cherry and strawberry aromas. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and a linear drive. Taut and muscular. Well formed." James Suckling
"This red tends more towards aromas of black cherries, blackberries and violets, with tar, tea and autumn forest accents lurking beneath the surface. It is firm, dense and lingers on the sinewy finish. Combines elegance with power, but needs time." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Barolo Aleste is another outstanding wine from Sandrone. Dark cherry, mocha, plum, liquorice and lavender all race across the palate. This racy but youthfully austere Barolo has a lot going for it. It has more density and a darker profile than the Le Vigne, a soloist in the Le Vigne orchestra, so to speak." Vinous
"Aleste is a contraction of the names Alessia and Stefano, grandchildren of the late Luciano Sandrone. With fruit from Cannubi Boschis, the 2019 Barolo Aleste shows important richness and structure. This is the proverbial Barolo with a capital B. It shows dense layers of dark fruits, cherries and spices. It shows sweet tannins and an impressive texture." Wine Advocate
"The nose of Aleste is beguiling and seductive with aromas of wild red and black fruits, cloves, anise, roses and wild herbs. Although generous, the wine holds back a little and asks you to cellar it. Black cherries, oolong tea, wild flowers and sandalwood show up on the palate in the most beautiful way." Wine Enthusiast
"Brilliant ruby grant, with a luminous core and delicately brightening rim. Fine, delicately stony scent on the nose, very discreetly of ripe raspberries, sugared cherries and fine earthy tones. On the palate very compact and very powerful, with rich, grippy tannin, comes along in very many layers, enormous length and structure, currently still a bit young on the finish." Falstaff
"Southeast side of the Cannubi hill, a great Sandrone classic with finesse and persistence. Black cherry on the nose, with hints of cinnamon and nuances of eucalyptus. The mouth is juicy and dense, with a fruity return and sweet spices, with lovely balsamic tension." Luca Gardini

This iconic wine, which is rare and very highly rated every year, presents itself in a brilliant, rich ruby colour. The bouquet is full of crisp berry fruit, ripe dark cherries, sweet plums and delicate notes of cinnamon. Full-bodied and firm on the palate, very juicy, develops a finely worked tannin and glides in a wide arc into a powerful, long final. A great wine full of vigour and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep and dark aromas of Mediterranean herbs, restrained black cherries and austere, earthy complexity. Firm on the palate, with full body, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a chalky finish. Long aftertaste with roasted graphite. A wine that is meant for the long haul, but will be ready to drink in a year or two." James Suckling
"Packed with ripe, juicy cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and floral aromas and flavors, this red is supple and beautifully integrated. Earth, iron and tobacco accents add detail as this winds down on the lazy, resonant aftertaste, showing terrific energy." Wine Spectator
"The 2020 I Sodi di San Niccolò is fabulous. It is a rare wine that offers power, finesse and translucent energy at once. All the elements are in perfect balance. I can’t remember a Sodi like this one, a wine that is so complete and alluring right out of the gate. Rose petal, lavender, spice, orange peel and sage open first. What impresses me most about the 2020 is the finesse of its tannin, something I have very rarely seen in Sodi at this early stage. Magical. This is remarkable in every way." Vinous

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2020 · 6 bottles in OWC
Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with vines that are almost 50 years old. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening flavour. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures everything good that the vintage has to offer. Cherry, sweet mint, candy and expressive floral notes are given an extra kick of inner sweetness by Ravera's natural energy. There is so much to look forward to as the wine develops over the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Beguiling bouquet of dark forest fruits and cherries, herbal notes; precise attack, the tannins extremely fine and silky, the acidity and mineral components provide the balance. Outstanding style!" Vinum
"Dark, sparkling ruby with garnet-coloured tendencies. Elegant, fruity-floral bouquet of roses and ripe wild berries, backed by fine wood spice and meadow herbs. Fine fruit melt on the palate, with a compact fruit core and firm tannins, very exciting and incredibly long." Falstaff
"Brilliant, medium ruby red colour. Raspberry and salty, mineral notes and hints of eucalyptus with aeration. Compact and a little closed, but with sensual acidity leading the cool, fresh fruit. Long, deep, chewy tannins that need a few more years to settle. Great depth of fruit on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"A precise style, more reductive than oxidative, with a rich fruitiness reminiscent of raspberry jam, floral notes, black pepper and liquorice. Fresh, with velvety, slightly chewy tannins in the mid-palate that lead into a chocolaty finish." Decanter
"Gravel stones, raspberries, liquorice and allspice on the nose. It's lively, dense and minerally with a medium to full body and firm, tight and steely tannins. Leave it to mature." James Suckling
"The Elvio Cogno 2020 Barolo Ravera is a lush and fleshy expression with dark fruit, dried cherry, plum, sweet orris root, earth, toast and dark spice. The wine is quite firm, and there is a lovely sense of richness that coats the palate." Wine Advocate
"This aromatic red wine exudes spicy and savoury notes of eucalyptus, juniper, rosehip, bergamot and white pepper. The flavours of cherry, iron and tobacco follow in the long finish." Wine Spectator
"A Barolo with temperament and character. Fresh aromas, nectarine, redcurrant, then laurel, rounded off with nuances of nutmeg. Mouthfeel with citrus sensations, clementine, savoury, taut and crisp, with hints of yellow fruit." Luca Gardini

“Messorio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 · MAGNUM in gift box
Messorio has been one of Italy's best and rarest Merlots for over a decade. Soft, rich, elegant, refined and never overdone. On the nose, ripe fruit, coffee, graphite and French oak. Structured and balanced, Messorio fascinates the international wine world every year with a clarity and length that is second to none. SUPERIORE.DE
"A beam of black cherry and blackberry permeates this red, accented by wild rosemary, thyme, iron and oak spice. Beautifully balanced and graceful, this should begin to hit its stride in two to three years, once the oak is absorbed." Wine Spectator
"Messorio is a wine that beautifully reflects the characteristics of the vintage and is a very accurate measuring stick of how any single vintage will eventually perform both in terms of near-term accessibility and long-term cellar aging. That said, the Le Macchiole 2017 Messorio plays its strongest cards in terms of mouthfeel and texture, revealing a robust structure and firmly integrated tannins that come from both the richly concentrated fruit and the careful use of oak. The wine shows a heavy center of gravity and a solid base of dark fruit that is enhanced by caramel, brown sugar, spice and creamy blackberry preserves. It does offer immediate appeal, but I'd wait a few more years to give this 2017 Messorio more time to flesh out and evolve." Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Messorio is classy and polished to the core. It is also incredibly young and not at all forthcoming. Messorio is a wine that needs a surprising amount of time in bottle to truly shine. I expect that will be the case here as well. Today, the 2017 is all about fruit and density. Time in the cellar should allow for its aromatics to emerge more fully. Overall, though, this is a fairly restrained style, in keeping with the showing of 2017 Bolgheri reds more broadly. All the elements come together so gracefully in this striking wine." Vinous
"This wine shows beautiful clarity and class on the nose with roses, tar, currants, green and black olives and plums. It's exceptionally fine-tannined with such polish and finesse. So sophisticated and intense for this vintage. Long, chewy finish, yet this is mouth-filling and caressing." James Suckling

Barolo Lazzarito 2019, which obtains its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, is built like a pyramid. It stands on a thick base of robust fruit and power and rises in intensity thanks to its wonderfully elevated bouquet. It shows direct and solid lines with blackberries, plums, spices, tar, liquorice, candied orange peel and truffle-infused earth. A second wave of flavours offers dark minerals, iron ore and rust. Baroli from Serralunga d'Alba are often in a category of their own thanks to their richness and sheer abundance of fruit. With additional aeration, the Lazzarito, certified organic for the first time in this vintage, delivers mint and fine balsamic herbs and will fully inspire with further maturation in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE
"The aromas of orange peel, raspberries, apples and violets merge into a medium-bodied wine with flavours of sage, lavender and raspberries. Firm and racy tannins." James Suckling
"A tantalising expression of cherry, plum, liquorice, earth and spice flavours. This red wine shows power and vigour as well as breadth and harmony. The finish is long-lasting with notes of plum, spices and minerals." Wine Spectator
"This is the Barolo we've been looking for! Black cherry, warm spices, crushed stone and dried herbs flow from the glass. It is firm on the palate and makes it clear that it should spend some time in the cellar. The fruit core is present but restrained, while black tea, aniseed, pepper and mineral notes are present but need more time." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Barolo Lazzarito continues a trend of recent years where the focus is more on finesse than raw power. Intense red fruit, iron, dried herbs, chalk, dried rose petals and white pepper permeate this deep, virile Barolo. The power and intensity of the Serralunga come to the fore in the heady, explosive finish. Bright salty notes linger on the deep, resonant finish. The Lazzarito is a Barolo of raw, unbridled power and demands patience." Vinous
"The Vietti 2019 Barolo Lazzarito with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba is a historic cornerstone of this powerful portfolio. It is also one of Vietti's Barolos that continues to offer extreme quality and pleasure with each new release. The Serralunga d'Alba is always powerful and rich. You can recognise aromas of dried tobacco leaves, fragrant tea, crushed roses and iron ore. The bouquet is very expressive." Wine Advocate
"An intense, savory Barolo, with a bouquet of balsamic notes, eucalyptus, red currant, touches of pepper leaf and nutmeg. Savory tannins on the palate, beautiful verticality enhanced by fruity-balsamic return." Luca Gardini

Barolo Cerequio comes from vines over 35 years old and is characterised by exuberant aromas and bright, red-coloured fruit. The bouquet is enormously opulent with ripe fruit flavours ranging from wild cherry to redcurrant. There are also original notes of jam, plum and a hint of ragout. The palate is nuanced and very deep, with enormous complexity, volume and plenty of character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby red with garnet shimmer. Beguiling aromas of redcurrant and pomegranate, followed by white truffles and a hint of mint. Blood orange and pomegranate on the palate, extremely fresh, lively and complex, elegant melting, dancing acidity, grippy, deep tannins, persistent, powerful final." Falstaff
"There is a ripe element of boysenberry or pomegranate that gives this Barolo a slightly exotic character. Hibiscus, eucalyptus and tobacco notes are also prevalent as it firms up on the fresh, chalky finish." Wine Spectator
"Extremely fresh and perfumed with lavender, violets and fresh plums. Wonderful to smell. Full-bodied with firm and concentrated tannins that add structure and intensity. Excellent length. Fantastic for this vintage." James Suckling
"Vietti was able to buy a 9,000 square metre plot of Cerequio from Michele Chiarlo, who is arguably the king of this famous cru. And as it is a new addition to the portfolio, the Vietti team is still familiarising itself with the material. The bouquet of the Barolo Cerequio 2019, for example, reveals a fresh minty note. "This minty note was a mystery to us," says Luca Currado. "But then we realised that it was part of the Cerequio." On the palate, the wine has a firm grip, which expands and has a soft texture, but ultimately remains quite structured. Luca Currado tells me that "Cerequio is the brother and Brunate is the sister" of the La Morra Grand Cru vineyards. His wife Elena Penna adds: "We have never had two sites that are so close to each other and have such big differences." Wine Advocate
"The nose is intense, with notes of pomegranate, then wild mint, chinotto and a nice iodised finish. The flavour is spicy, with an iodine-fruity return, citrusy and enriched with mentholated notes." Luca Gardini
"The Barolo Cerequio 2019 is a worthy successor to the outstanding 2018. Aromatic and profound, the 2019 runs across the palate with remarkable depth and intensity. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petals, mint and cinnamon open up in the glass, but it is the silkiness and suppleness of the wine that impresses most. A kick of acidity and tannins puts an exclamation mark on the finish. This is a great Cerequio that soaks up all the finesse of this site and then turns up the volume. What a wine." Vinous

Barolo Brunate is a powerful and vertical wine, endowed with enormous explosive energy and intensity. Crushed flowers, mint, spices and dried flowers open up in the glass, but it is the energy of the wine that really lifts it into the stratosphere. In the glass, the 2019 is dark, almost sombre, and full of the sepia-coloured nuances that are so typical of this great Barolo vineyard. 2019 is an outstanding vintage for Brunate and the first with organic certification. SUPERIORE.DE
"Multi-layered nose with seductive aromas of forest fruits, liquorice and dried flowers; robust and full-bodied, the tannin structure and acidity are perfectly balanced. Combines fullness and race with finesse, should still mature!" Vinum
"There is a yin and yang here between ripe wild cherry, cherry and raspberry fruit and notes of eucalyptus, juniper and hay. They are gripped by dense, assertive tannins on the finish, but this seductive red wine still has a lot to offer. Excellent finesse and length." Wine Spectator
"This wine opens with a wave of aromas that makes you take a seat. Wild cherries, plum, orange peel, clove, violets and rosewood are just a few of the scents that define this beautiful wine. Taut and firm, the palate whelps for a bit more time as the primary fruits are pleasing, the combination of fruit, savory and earth need just a bit more time to shine to their highest. This is a great wine; take your time." Wine Enthusiast
"A fresh wine with a nose of red plum, then notes of laurel, incense and lavender. The mouthfeel has iodine-spicy tannins, with liquorice sensations behind." Luca Gardini
"The Vietti 2019 Barolo Brunate displays an earthy, almost autumnal quality not found in other wines from this leading winery. The bouquet opens with dark fruits, peat moss and rusty nails. The wine is long and finely structured with silky sensations that add softness to the mouthfeel. The finish reveals hints of baking chocolate and espresso beans." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Brunate 2019 is a powerhouse. Black cherry, plum, spice, lavender, mocha, gravel and scorched earth - this virile, potent Barolo is a real powerhouse. The Brunate is another very impressive wine in this range. To be completely honest, the Brunate has never been one of my favourite wines here, but the 2019 is undeniably great. Perhaps the combination of parcels that Vietti now owns explains the multi-dimensional vibrancy that emerges here. It is simply great." Vinous
"The density of ripe fruit is fantastic in this young Brunate with black berries, blueberries, stone and earth. Very pure. It is full-bodied yet restrained and concentrated with a long and intense finish. Very fine tannins. Complex." James Suckling

Approximately 60% of the grapes for the Monvigliero are not destemmed, this enhances the aromatic nuances of the wine. Youthful notes of raspberry and blueberry are flanked by black pepper, gentian, china and black olives. The palate has a beguilingly soft texture, fine and creamy, underpinned by wonderful laurel and floral aromas. Monvigliero impresses with its purity, its serenity and its class. Excellent. SUPERIORE.DE
"This charming red wine is delicate and smooth, with aromas of cherries, boysenberries, violets and spices, with excellent balance and a lingering aftertaste that reflects the main flavour themes." Wine Spectator
"Lots of dried flowers on the nose with hibiscus and raspberry character. Full-bodied with salty undertones to the pure fruit and citrus flavours. Well integrated tannins. Transparent. Clear." James Suckling
"Alluring aromas of wild red berries, medicinal herbs and sweet and savory spices with subtle tea aromas swirl in the glass. The lifted palate is almost weightless before it gives juicy cherry notes and crushed wildflower flavors, finishing with elegant tannins and nearly perfect acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Monvigliero 2019 is breathtaking. What a wine. Rich, heady and explosive, the 2019 is a beautiful, spherical Barolo that impresses from the first sip. Aromatically broad and expansive, the 2019 unfolds beautifully in the glass. Bright red fruits, orange peel, mint, spice and bright saline notes saturate the palate on the finish. The 2019 is an absolute stunner even at this stage of youthful austerity. Compared to the 2018, it seems a little rustic, but the final verdict on that won't be known for a few years." Vinous
"Bright, shiny ruby garnet. Expressive nose of red peach, ripe wild strawberries, blood oranges, plus fine floral components, complex and memorable. On the palate with light-footed complexity, tightly woven, fine-grained tannin, great juiciness and precision, clearly worked out fruit, comes back salty for a long time." Falstaff
"The most famous cru of Verduno, with limestone-clay soils and the presence of Marne di Sant'Agata. Vinified with whole grapes, on the nose cranberries, with hints of marjoram and eucalyptus. Crisp on the palate, with iodine-rich tannins and a fruity, balsamic note." Luca Gardini

Castello della Sala has been producing one of Italy's most famous white wines, Cervaro, for many years. In recent years, it has become fresher and deeper at the same time, without the conservative, broad style that characterised older late harvest editions of this wine. On the nose, stewed apples, cream, notes of oak bark, mango and peach. The palate is full of tropical fruit with a fine vein of acidity and a precise mineral component. A long-lasting, beautiful white wine and rightly one of the most sought-after white wines in the wine world every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"An enticing nose of ripe fruit, floral and spice notes lures you into the glass of this classy white. Finely meshed and refreshing, with a pleasing succulence to the flavors of ripe yellow peach, macadamia nut, lemon-infused pastry cream and ginger biscuit. Lightly chalky in texture, this lingers on the salty finish." Wine Spectator
"The Castello della Sala 2022 Cervaro della Sala is based on Chardonnay and has a small proportion of the local grape variety Grechetto in the blend. The nose opens with a reductive note of flint or matchstick, but quickly lifts to reveal soft orchard fruit, white peach and minty apple. These are joined by delicate toasted notes with a hint of pecan or macadamia nut. Salty mineral notes also emerge on the finish, emphasising the extremely vertical or elevated character of the bouquet." Wine Advocate
"The Cervaro della Sala 2022 opens with a seductive bouquet in which vanilla pods and crushed almonds develop into a mixture of yellow apples, camomile, mint and cardamom. The palate is flooded with silky waves of ripe stone fruits and spices. Tactile mineral tones build tension over a core of vibrant acidity. Balanced and refined, the 2022 finishes beautifully structured and long with a concentration of citrus fruit and a saline note that lingers. This is a stunning Cervaro della Sala that, despite its seductive state, is made for the cellar." Vinous
"Attractive nose of ripe mangoes, pineapple and grilled lemons with some roasted and nutty notes and a hint of smoky minerality. Also cardamom and pie crust. It is full-bodied, nervy and juicy, with bright acidity and savoury nuances. It is complex and long, building on the palate with vibrant, savoury notes of candied ginger, dried lemons and bitter citrus peel. Truly the Montrachet of Italy." James Suckling

Scrio - a great Tuscan Syrah from Le Macchiole - is a real beauty. The persistent bouquet offers aromas of dark berries and cured meat, warm and balsamic on the palate with great intensity and dynamism, rich in extract and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"A Syrah parcel planted in the Alberello vineyard. Deep with lots of Syrah spice, blackcurrant bush and dark, spiced chocolate, delicately gelled red and black fruits, liquorice and blueberries. Polished and precisely structured in the mouth, super juicy with rather red fruits, delicate creaminess, good freshness and with grippy, fine-meshed tannins, spicy and noble." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby colour with a slight violet hue. Fragrant nose with notes of violets and black cherries, underpinned by subtle spicy components, lots of cardamom. Lots of fresh fruit on the palate up front, then opens up with grippy, but somewhat large tannins at the core." Falstaff
"Plenty of flowers and fresh fruit such as blackberries and raspberries. A hint of cloves and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and a crisp and crunchy finish. A little tight on the finish, suggesting that it still has three to four years to mature in the bottle." James Suckling
"A lean, elegant red wine with aromas and flavours of violets, blueberries, boysenberries, earth and spices. Dense yet fluid, with fine-grained tannins and a well-defined fruit bundle that lingers on the finish. Shows excellent finesse and balance." Wine Spectator
"The nose is smooth and dark like a well-tailored suit, while the salty chewiness of black olives waltzes with the acidity of blackberries and blueberries and a firework of black pepper shoots into the night sky. The olives and dark fruits continue to dance on the palate until the song ends with a crescendo of spicy dark chocolate. The elegant tannins watch you from the other side of the ballroom, while the acidity simmers unobtrusively but unforgettably on the balcony." Wine Enthusiast
"The Scrio 2020 is a beautiful wine. At this stage, the Scrio is quite closed, but that's probably a very good thing for its long-term ageing prospects. With time in the glass, notes of white pepper, smoke, dried flowers, mint and chalk emerge, adding brightness to a core of sweet red and blood orange fruit. This is the first vintage in which the vineyard site in the hills of Bolgheri has changed significantly." Vinous
"The 2020 Scrio is a beautiful Syrah from Tuscany that shows impeccable elegance with a very long and straightforward style that is reflected on the nose and palate. I love the precision of this wine. The famous Rhône grape has found a very happy home in this part of the Tuscan coast. The team at Le Macchiole is particularly talented at emphasising the nuances of the grape variety: dark fruits, baking chocolate, spices, charred meat, white pepper and pencil shavings." “I Sodi di San Niccolò" Toscana IGT 2019 · 6 bottles in OWC
"Sparkling ruby colour with a fine garnet sheen. Impressive nose, very finely characterised, aromas of juicy cherries, blood orange and dried thyme, some liquorice in the background. Polished and precise from the attack to the final, fine-meshed, very well-integrated tannins, flows beautifully, finely elaborated fruit, long final." Falstaff
"The I Sodi di San Niccolò 2019 is another great wine from Castellare. At this stage, the 2019 is still a child. The purity of the fruit is convincing. Despite its considerable intensity, the 2019 seems to have less tannins than in many other years, which should allow it to drink well with minimal cellaring. Blood orange, sweet spices, leather and cedar linger on the stylish finish." Vinous
"This is a long-famous blend of 85% Sangioveto (another name for Sangiovese) and 15% Malvasia Nera from one of the leading wineries of Castellina in Chianti. The Castellare di Castellina 2019 I Sodi di S. Niccolò opens with a soft texture and medium weight with dark aromas of blackcurrant and cherry. These flavours reveal an earthy and spicy side that continues on the palate. The wine finishes with sweet tannins and this vintage has a solid structure overall." Wine Advocate
"An intense, vibrant red with hauntingaromas of violet, black cherry, blackberry, wild rosemary, eucalyptus and iron. Supple and open, but with a solid structure underneath. The precise balance of this wine makes it approachable now, but it will be even better in two to three years. Spicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Complex and deeply embedded flavours of ripe blackberries, spices and aromatic bark. Full-bodied and very firm for now, with impressive concentration of fruit and tannin. Very long, balanced finish. A great wine for now, but a wine for the cellar. Patience will be rewarded. Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. This has always been a top Tuscan red wine. Best from 2027." James Suckling
"Super fragrant nose, patchouli, potpourri, Turkish delight, rose with caramelised red berries and a hint of smoke and incense - all very present and expressive. You could smell the nose alone for hours, it is so complex and beguiling. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated, broad and muscular, sinewy with depth and determination. The tannins are well integrated, supporting the fruit and acidity and driving the flavours forward despite the obvious weight and grip. The red berry flavours continue on the palate with hints of stone, graphite and matches. Rich and big on the mid-palate, it becomes more focused towards the finish. Definitely well made and full of life. The acidity is great, cool, clean, smooth and packed with flavour. It's almost too much, because this wine is big and needs time, but it has great appeal and is fresh throughout." Decanter
"A blend of Sangioveto and Malvasia Nera, which has always been a wine totem for Tuscan production. Blackberry jam and Mediterranean scrub on the nose, a hint of eucalyptus, dense and flavourful on the palate, very persistent on the finish, with a balsamic hint." Luca Gardini

Barolo Bussia “Vigna Romirasco” DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM in OWC
The grapes of Romirasco come from the single vineyard of the same name in the Bussia district. The vines stand at an altitude of about 400 m and are up to 55 years old. It is probably the spiciest representative in Aldo Conterno's overall programme. On the nose, fine notes of tar and smoke, along with cherry, elderberries and menthol. On the palate, notes of raspberry, redcurrant, rosemary and thyme immediately take over. The wine stands almost vertically in the glass, the different fruit and spice components marry in a most elegant way and make this wine monument one of the most irresistible representatives of the entire Barolo world every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Typical Bussia with balsamic notes and dark spice, very earthy and with plenty of fleshy tannin that stays present for a long time, defining presence and all around a powerhouse Barolo with lots of subtlety." Weinwisser
"Sparkling, rich ruby with a pronounced garnet rim. Very intense and dense nose of white truffle, fine spicy herbs, then lots of blackberry and leather. Round and supple in the attack and course, shows lots of fine-meshed, grippy tannin, builds up in many layers, some blood orange, plus dark raspberry, rich pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Though well-marked by new oak, there's a vibrant quality to this Barolo, along with cherry, raspberry, iron, tar and tobacco flavors. Supple, almost elegant, with a long, spicy aftertaste, this shows plenty of detail and energy." Wine Spectator
"Lots of floral aromas, such as lilacs and roses, with crushed raspberries and strawberries. Sandalwood, too. Full-bodied and very powerful with incredible depth of fruit and chewy tannins. It goes on for minutes. Try after 2026." James Suckling

“Stilèma” Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2016 · 6 bottles in OWC
"The Stilèma project was born as a testimony of Antonio Mastroberardino's love for his land, his vines and his wines, for their original character." Piero Mastroberardino
The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. In this way, the Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the autochthonous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1970s of the twentieth century for the Taurasi and between the years 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and today impressively highlights the genuine character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed by high concentration and intensity alone.
Stilèma Taurasi is an austere and complex wine with excellent drinkability and great ageing potential. A modern interpretation of the style of the great Taurasi from the 1950s and 1960s. Stilèma Taurasi is the result of a compositional work that has brought together different but synergistic micro-territorial stories, creating a unique and complex expressiveness. Pietradefusi, Montemarano, Paternopoli and Mirabella Eclano are the different sites of the family from which the grapes come, distinguished by their altitude, microclimate and soils.
Soft ruby red with delicate reflections and luminous transparency. The nose offers complex aromas, fruity and floral nuances in harmony with spicy hints, further on cherry, plum, blackberry, caramel, tobacco, vanilla, leather and cloves. Fresh, tasty, agile on the palate, with a silky tannin structure that harmonises well with all the other components. Tart and complex, with great drinkability and convincing length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense, sparkling ruby garnet. Opens on the nose with notes of pomegranate, blood orange, tobacco and cranberries. Very polished in attack and course, nice play, fine-meshed tannin, but overall seems a bit frothy, very far from the impetuous power of a Taurasi." Falstaff
"Fresh and elegant, this well-meshed red layers taut, fine tannins with a ripe core of cherry and cranberry puree, a streak of smoke-tinged minerality and accents of tea leaves and woodsy spices that echo on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The Taurasi Riserva Stilèma 2016 is a deeply sensual wine. Swirl the glass to discover the depths of sour cherry and red plum, accompanied by hints of spice cake and a pinch of clove. It is seamlessly silky and smooth, with a textural wave of polished blackberries and currants, underlined by salty minerals. The wine's density is balanced by vibrant acidity, while the chiselled tannins slowly assert themselves. The 2016 finishes with decent length and spicy herbal and acidic citrus nuances. In a very short time, the Taurasi Riserva Stilèma has established itself as one of the top wines in Mastroberardino's portfolio." Vinous
"This is a very refined expression of Aglianico with a clear red fruit character. With air, additional notes of pressed flowers, burnt orange peel and dark chocolate emerge, creating a complex whole. Medium to full body with well integrated tannins and a long finish. Delicious." James Suckling
"Here is another new Riserva to add to the portfolio of Mastroberardino wines. The 2016 Taurasi Riserva Stiléma is a traditional wine, or a reinterpretation of a traditional wine, that pays homage to some of the great bottles of yesteryear with shorter maceration times for moderate phenolic extraction and the use of neutral French and Slavonian oak that emphasise elegance over power. This streamlined and polished wine reveals dark fruits, cardamom, smoked tobacco and tertiary aromas of liquorice and tar that are just beginning to emerge. Despite the wine's age, you can taste the transparency of the fruit: Flesh, skins, stems and all." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino “Ugolforte” Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
The winery's first Riserva is produced from a selection of two plots at the highest altitudes on the estate (450 metres). The steep, south-facing plots lie on stony, ferrous soils. SUPERIORE.DE
"Interesting notes of small forest fruits and flowers, mushrooms and undergrowth; compact on the palate, the tannins fine-grained, supported by the acidity, ends long on notes of red berries, balsamic, harmonious." Vinum
"Aged in 30 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, this debut vintage is extroverted and vibrant, with aromas of sweet herbs, ginger, tobacco and dried orange peel. The palate is ripe and full-bodied with juicy red and blackcurrant flavours, supported by youthful and robust, yet supple and approachable tannins. 7,000 bottles were produced." Decanter
"The Brunello di Montalcino Ugolforte Riserva 2018 shows a completely different intensity with dried cherries, raspberry jam, redcurrants and Red Delicious apple. The wine is very generous and densely packed in terms of flavours. The tannins are fine and chalky, but definitely on the more approachable side of the spectrum for a Brunello Riserva." Wine Advocate
"This round red wine with flavours of cherries, strawberries, iron and tobacco is intense and elegant, with a dense tannin matrix and a lively acidity that accompanies it to a long, detailed aftertaste. A harmonious wine that should develop well." Wine Spectator
"Very intense nose of lemon leaves, rosebuds and pomegranates. The freshness is supported by a soft palate with full body, crisp acidity and dense, velvety tannins of great ripeness. Refined, flavoursome and lively on the finish." James Suckling

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Vietti's Brunate parcels are located on the La Morra side of the cru site. It was fermented in stainless steel and then transferred directly to large oak barrels for ageing. Barolo Brunate is a powerful and vertical wine, endowed with enormous explosive energy and intensity. It offers engaging and penetrating aromas of cedar wood, red cherry, blood orange, sage flowers and rose. On the palate, its austere personality is evident and any connoisseur will realise that it needs a few more years in the bottle to develop. Dense and multi-layered, with great depth, chewy tannins and lingering red berries, this is already a fantastically complete wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barolo Brunate 2020 is a dark, beguiling wine. Black cherry, dried herbs, leather, game, liquorice and incense lend it wonderful, sepia-coloured nuances. The brooding and closed 2020 clearly needs time. It's a super-classic Brunate that's hard to read at first, but the weight, substance and power are clearly there. Dense, fleshy and dark, it shows an intensity reminiscent of Serralunga." Vinous
"Equal parts fruity and balsamic, this red reveals cherry, cranberry and rose hip notes alongside eucalyptus, juniper and cedar flavors. Taut and well-marked by a line of dusty tannins gracing the finish." Wine Spectator
"The Vietti 2020 Barolo Brunate has a dark and spicy side that is reflected in the fruit. Dark cherry and blackcurrant combine with ferruginous earth, grilled rosemary, aniseed and a hint of fresh mint. Brunate tends to be rather austere and firm in its flavours, and this vintage shows these qualities well. The character of the site comes through clearly. The wine has a precise, edgy personality and the fruit is compact. Only 4,988 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate
"This Barolo from the renowned Brunate vineyard captivates with its youthful energy and presents a lively bouquet of tart sour cherries, unripe raspberries and a tantalising blend of medicinal herbs. The palate reveals a classic structure, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins that support the delicate red fruit flavours, a subtle earthiness and a hint of dried rose petals. With its sophisticated elegance, this Barolo is ready to develop even more complexity with time." Wine Enthusiast
"Harmonious and seductive with endless flavours in good depth. Strawberries, crushed raspberries, fresh lavender, tile, minerals and mild spices. Medium to full-bodied with chalky, powerful tannins. Bright and exciting in the centre, with an extensive development of sour cherries, minerals, white pepper and grapefruit. The long finish is concentrated, precise and taut." James Suckling

Rocche di Castiglione is prized for its pure white, chalky soils, which produce wines of exceptional finesse and a wide range of flavours. For lovers of timeless Nebbiolo, it is a real hit. The vines are located not far from the winery, which blends into the stone walls and urban fabric of the village of Castiglione Falletto. The vineyard is about one hectare in size. Rocche di Castiglione is a curiously shaped and elongated MGA with a unique south-east exposure along a steep ravine, with Bussia to the west and Perno to the east. This site is characterised by freshness, extreme precision, straightforwardness, structure and balanced freshness. This naturally concentrated vintage also displays a juicy quality that is simply outstanding. Pretty mineral notes contribute to the balance and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"A dense, solidly built version, whose core of cherry and raspberry fruit is accented by iron, wild herb and juniper notes. Focused by vibrant acidity and underlined with chalky tannins, this red is long and detailed on the finish." Falstaff
"Charming and enticing with flavours of sweet cherries, strawberries, cedar, dried herbs and some baking spices. Sensational concentration with a lively mid-palate on the full to medium body. The fine and firm tannins are harmoniously balanced by the juicy redcurrants and crisp acidity." James Suckling
"The Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2020 is a very distinctive wine with sharp ferrous notes, cherry-cola, redcurrant and chalky minerals. It is very precise in its flavours. It comes across as direct and multi-layered, showing different sides and gaining complexity the further it opens up in the glass. Delicate notes of dried flowers, violet blossom and iris can also be recognised. The chalky tannins feel abrupt at this young stage, but this wine is still built to last. Only 3,512 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate
"The Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2020 is a magical wine from a magical vineyard. It combines finesse and volume to an extent not found in most other wines in this range. Castiglione Falletto is quite literally the centre of the Barolo growing area, a place where many different types of soil come together. As a result, the wines often display an astonishing balance, which is very much the case here." Vinous

Baroli from Serralunga d'Alba are often in a category of their own thanks to their richness and sheer abundance of fruit. Lazzarito stands on an impressive base of robust fruit and vigour, rising in intensity thanks to its wonderfully elevated bouquet. It shows direct and solid lines with blackberries, plums, spices, tar, liquorice, candied orange peel and truffle-infused earth. A second wave of flavours offers dark minerals, iron ore and rust. With additional aeration, it delivers mint and fine balsamic herbs and will fully delight with further bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Finely chiselled yet powerful nose of raspberries, spices and dried flowers, enveloped in balsamic nuances; engaging acidity and wonderfully modelled tannins, long, fresh and fruity yet extremely elegant. A great wine." Vinum
"Powerful ruby colour with a clear garnet hue. Impressive nose with rich notes of rose petals, wild raspberries and some liquorice. Fine-meshed tannins, opens up in many layers, notes of cranberries and blood orange, very good tension." Falstaff
"Starts with an open feel, displaying cherry, peach, iron, tar and tobacco flavors before firming up. This lively red builds to the long aftertaste of red licorice, tobacco and earth." Wine Spectator
"Tar and dark minerality. Lots of wild berries, dried orange peel, frozen grapefruit and raspberries. Very structured and full-bodied, with firm, chewy tannins that give the wine a bold, austere quality. But in the end it is concentrated and taut, with a crisp, savoury finish full of length." James Suckling
"The Lazzarito stands out as one of the strongest wines in this portfolio of new releases from Vietti. With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the 2020 Barolo Lazzarito achieves a very high level of complexity, offering dark cherry, crème de cassis, violet macaron, dried herbs and lavender. The aromas of the wine remind me of the south of France in summer. It shows elegant tannins, a lean intensity and good acidity." Wine Advocate

Barolo Ravera is a wine of great impact and power, and it is also a wine of the future. This is because Ravera (in the municipality of Novello) is one of the best vineyards that never ceases to surprise and impress, despite the changing climate. Thanks to the high altitude and the open view of the snow-capped mountains, the microclimate is well ventilated but protected at the same time. On the nose, freshly cut flowers, white pepper and mint, shy at first but very energetic and straightforward as the wine progresses. On the palate, preserved dark cherries, lavender, mint, crushed stones and hints of sage. All in all, a powerful, breathtaking and deep Barolo, endowed with great purity and beautiful transparency. A stunning wine! SUPERIORE.DE
"Modern, powerful bouquet, ripe red and pale blue fruit, berries preserved in alcohol, orange peel. Meltingly dense, powerful on the palate, fine tannins, incredibly juicy, mouthwatering, clear, modern and still young, but this has substance and a future." Weinwisser
"Refined combination on aromas of raspberries and flowers; polished, the tannins precise, has race, fullness and ends multi-faceted on fruit and balsamic flavours. Perfect with a juicy beef steak!" Vinum
"Sparkling, medium-dense ruby colour with a slight garnet shimmer. Finely characterised nose of fresh plums, blackberries and pickled peach. Exciting play on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, paired with grippy, fine tannins, compact and with firm pressure, earthy tones on the final." Falstaff
"On the nose, it immediately captivates with a blend of black, macerated cherries and a unique note of crushed vitamins, complemented by delicate baby roses and fresh green herbs. On the palate, the wine shows a robust structure, with firm and chewy tannins that grip the tongue. When the wine opens up, its true potential is revealed." Wine Enthusiast
"The Barolo Ravera 2020 has a lot of Ravera classicism and tension. Ravera is never a huge wine in body, but the depth is often there, even if expressed in an understated and more linear way. Reddish fruit, blood orange, mint, spice and white pepper give it brilliance throughout." Vinous
"The Vietti 2020 Barolo Ravera offers dark fruits, cherries and blackcurrants, accompanied by a gentle spiciness. There is also a sun-drenched note of aubergine, tomato leaves and ferruginous earth. The Ravera shows strong lines with good acidity and a firm tannin backbone. It finishes dry and matures exclusively in large oak barrels. Ravera, with its open mountain backdrop and cool temperatures, is considered one of the best sites in the appellation, especially when the climate changes." Wine Advocate
"Perfumed, composed and agile with notes of cherries, wild strawberries, white pepper, frozen raspberries, dried flowers and some stone. Full-bodied with fine, chalky tannins and crisp acidity. Bright and vertical with controlled power. Textured and subtle. Great tension and energy in the mid-palate and long, concentrated finish." James Suckling
