“Lui e Lei Capo di Stato” Rosso Superiore Montello Asolo DOC 2018 · 2 bottles in OWC
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the label creation by artist Tono Zancanaro for the famous Capo di Stato, a special, strictly limited wooden box has been created. It contains one bottle each of Capo di Stato 2018 with the labels "Des Roses Pour Madame" and "... Et Pour Monsieur La Bombe". Each box also contains a numbered and signed guarantee certificate and a small booklet revealing the history of the two famous "Lui e Lei" labels.
Capo di Stato has long been a legend thanks to its top quality and history. The cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbech was created by Conte Loredan Gasparini. A wine rich in finesse in the classic Bordeaux style, dense and of outstanding structure with flavours of spices and red fruits. Fascinatingly ripe tannins, skilfully integrated into the new French barrique in which the wine was matured for two years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright, rich ruby red colour. Great interplay of spicy aromas on the nose, pepper, cassis, leather, tobacco, then again red pepper, liquorice, forest berries on the finish. Extremely juicy and balanced on the palate, fruit and acidity are well balanced, with pressure, currently still showing young tannins at the back, already pointing to a long life." Falstaff
"This is a historic wine worth the search if you like drinking history. Made from old clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, the wine exudes the dark plummy notes you would expect, with a deep earthy and savory element. Fine, yet firm tannins give the full-bodied wine gravitas as the deep dark fruits yield to cedar, tobacco, clove and worn leather." Wine Enthusiast
"A juicy, medium-bodied red wine with lovely earthy funk, dark olive and pepper notes in the spiced black cherry fruit. Supple palate with firm but silky tannins complementing its fleshy dark cherry core. Good-natured. Better from 2024." James Suckling

“Montiano” Merlot Lazio IGP 2020 · MAGNUM in OWC
Intense, seductive aroma of sweet spices, tobacco, dark cherries and wild berries. The flavour is perfectly matched by enormous elegance, richness of fruit, complexity, structure and length. A wonderful, taut and highly polished Merlot. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red at the core with garnet-red edges. Ripe blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose, then slightly vanilla-like and leathery from the wood ageing. Full-bodied on the palate with supple tannins, very elegant and with a long, spicy final." Falstaff
"The 2020 Merlot Montiano is youthfully dark and brooding, shimmering from the glass with an exotic blend of crushed black raspberries, blueberries, blood oranges and incense. This wine is elegant and refined. Brilliant acidity enlivens a core of vibrant ripe red and blue fruits. A chalky hint of violet pastille envelops the palate. It is incredibly long and colours the final, with sweet tannins perfectly framing the experience without slowing its momentum. This sun-drenched vintage of Montiano Merlot aims to please without ever losing its balance." Vinous
"The chocolate, red fruit and subtle cedar character is vivid and impressive but all in check. It’s medium- to full-bodied with a creamy and polished texture and a flavorful finish. Dark chocolate and black olive undertones. Balanced and refined." James Suckling
"The marvellously inimitable volcanic temperament of Montefiascone for an exceptional red wine, a Merlot of density, fruit and tension. Currant and raspberry on the nose, a hint of nutmeg, salty tannins in the mouth, juicy and dense, with a return of small red fruits and a long finish." Luca Gardini

“Le Volte dell’Ornellaia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Rich bouquet of sweet red berries, balsamic notes, fine flavours of tobacco and chocolate. Very harmonious on the palate of dark cherries, flatteringly full flavour, perfectly balanced tannins, fresh acidity and good length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2021 offers bright and youthful fruit with dark cherries, cassis, spices and red roses. This wine is made from Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. You can feel the acidity of the Italian grapes and the rich fruit of the two French grape varieties. The wine is taut and dense with medium intensity. This is the entry-level red wine from one of Italy's best-known wineries." Wine Advocate
"A firm and silky wine with aromas and flavours of bark, berries, chocolate and light coffee. Medium body. Creamy, structured finish. Drinkable and fresh." James Suckling
"Shows expressive, juicy flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, cassis and lavender that need time to meld with the firm, dusty tannins, some of which come from the oak. Gets even better with a few minutes of air. Offers a nice length. Decant now." Wine Spectator
"Intense ruby red with a slightly lighter rim. Subtle aromas of ripe sour cherry and preserved plums on the nose, with some spice and a touch of liquorice in the background. Well-balanced on the palate, with fine-grained tannins, drinky and a long final." Falstaff
"The nose blends rich fruit notes of cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and raspberry with a woody, earthy, slightly herbal savoriness. The cherries and blood orange star on the palate, with the savory elements continuing to make themselves known before a closing kick of chili heat. Vibrant acidity bounces around chalky tannins." Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in gift box
Andrea Cortonesi's Brunello di Montalcino 2019 shows its best side right from the start. It combines richness, maturity and finesse to create a model of total balance. At first glance, it is dark, earthy and herbal, but with time in the glass, a massive wave of black cherries, raspberries, sage and a grounding note of undergrowth emerges. In the mouth, it coats everything it touches with a silky, cool texture that gives way to ripe red and black fruits complemented by spiced citrus, while nuances of lavender and tobacco develop. While the wine feels round and supple, fine-grained tannins slowly creep in, reminding you how young it really is. A hint of baker's chocolate, liquorice and a touch of tart blackberry resonate on the long final... SUPERIORE.DE
"Multifaceted bouquet with aromas of dark berries, leather and chocolate; the attack is full-bodied, the tannins perfectly integrated, develops full of esprit towards an extremely fruity final." Vinum
"Ripe ruby red with a brick-coloured rim. Fairly developed, ripe and brooding cherry fruit nose with hints of tobacco. The palate is much more backward but well put together, with plenty of chewy tannins that don't overpower the fruit. It's an old-school wine, and I'd wait another two years before approaching it. Very long and captivating." Jancis Robinson
"It opens with aromas reminiscent of cedar and pine forest, undergrowth and leather. The palate is full and powerful, but more square than round. A compact core of dark cherry is surrounded by chewy, generous tannins. A hint of dryness from the wood comes through. Still, this wine feels very real, and the underlying acidity provides a brightening effect." Decanter
"Perfumed and attractive with flavours of black cherries and berries, as well as lavender and rosemary flowers. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Needs to age in the bottle to mellow." James Suckling
"Dense and muscular, this red delivers a broad swath of cherry, plum and floral flavors, supplemented by iron, eucalyptus and sanguine notes. Tightens up on the finish, leaving a compact impression, yet this is persistent overall." Wine Spectator
"The Uccelliera 2019 Brunello di Montalcino offers ripe fruit, a hint of cooked blackberries and pomegranate juice. Together with oak spice and dried bay leaf, there is a hint of creaminess in the centre of the palate, reminiscent of cheese rind or matured chèvre with a crust of black pepper and thyme. This note fades, however, and the wine returns to dried cherry with a medicinal or herbal flavour. There is a lot going on. The wine needs more time in the bottle to work through the fine, chalky tannins. It's already elegant now, but it will improve." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a profound and intense wine that shoots from the glass with a wave of autumnal spices, crushed cherries, cedar shavings and soaked plums underpinned by pine notes. This wine is highly structured, elegant and refined, with a dense wave of ripe forest fruits accompanied by vibrant acidity underscored by orange and balsamic herbs. It finishes grippy and lingering with a black hole of tension and a sweet and sour sensation that lingers on and on as crisp tannins reverberate within. The 2019 is youthfully backward today, but its balance is undeniable, especially as it has opened up over twenty-four hours. It is an absolute pleasure to taste this wine. Bury the 2019 deep in your cellar." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigneti del Versante” DOCG 2019
The grapes for the Vigneti del Versante 2019 come from the Scopeta, Cancello Rosso and Bassolino di Sopra vineyards. Bright red colour. Very deep, complex, expressive aromas of red cherries, raspberries, balsamic oils, violets and sweet spices on the highly perfumed nose, clearly recognising the terroir of Sesta. Great fibre and density on the palate, with much of this power coming from the heavier soils of the vineyards. The overall expression is profound and precise, with pungent aromas of wild berries, liquorice, lavender and lightly toasted almonds. Violets on the finish, supported by a silky, fine texture. One of the most stunning Brunello from the dream 2019 vintage, which, as always, comes onto the market a year later than its neighbours. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Pian dell'Orino 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante is a little more closed or hesitant on the initial nose, but shows strong shoulders and medium to big fruit concentration. This wine needs more time in the bottle to develop properly, but you already get a clear glimpse of its bright fruit, herbal notes and blue flowers. It shows very elegant, broad flavours that are characteristic of this warm vintage." Wine Advocate
"Nuances of dusty flowers, rosemary, sage, cloves and leather give way to aromas of dried strawberries as the radiant 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante blossoms in the glass. It is silky-soft and profound and displays exceptional elegance. Soothingly soft textures, notes of ripe red and blue fruits and a kick of lively acidity provide fantastic energy. Sweet, crisp tannins build steadily towards the violet-coloured final, rejuvenating with notes of blood orange and spice. In a word: captivating." Vinous

“Prephylloxera” Rosso Etna DOC 2022
Etna Rosso Prephylloxera Vigna di Don pepis a breathtakingly elegant, small-production Etna Rosso. Iridescent, pure dark red colour and an infinitely broad fruity aroma. Impeccable balance and structure on the palate. The tannins are present and yet wonderfully elegant and balanced. An explosive wine made from 100 per cent Nerello Mascalese - and from ancient vines in Calderara and Santo Spirito. SUPERIORE.DE
"Woodsy spice, tar-tinged smoke and medicinal herb notes are an aromatic entry point for this firm, savory red, joining focused flavors of dehydrated black raspberry and macerated mulberry fruit, rose hip and singed orange peel. The dense tannins bring a textured, raw silk-like feel, with a chewy impression on the fragrant finish. Decant and then sip slowly as this reveals its layered facets." Wine Spectator
"The Etna Rosso Prephylloxera La Vigna di Don pepCalderara Sottana 2022 is seductive and youthfully backward. It exudes a blend of sweet spices, dusty violets and ash that fades into dried black cherries, sage and cloves. This wine is velvety yet refined, with a polished wave of ripe red and blue fruit flowing over a juicy stream of acidity. A hint of sour citrus contrasts towards the end. The finish is remarkably fresh and energetic, still tannic but lively as crisp tannins linger and a hint of lavender slowly fades. This is an elegant and truly harmonious edition of this cuvée. Simply stunning." Vinous
"A fascinating wine with flavours of flower stems, orange peel and bark as well as some dried mushrooms. The structure and length are exceptional with a medium to full body and firm, concentrated tannins. The finish is persistent, polished and refined. It is flattering in every way. Better in five years, but if you have the opportunity to drink it now, go for it!" James Suckling

Fine, silky tannins frame a core of crushed berries, flowers, liquorice and new leather. The wine's inner extract sweetness reveals itself only with time of aeration, adding harmony and class. Already today, a super-elegant and at the same time refined and open Brunello presents itself, which always remains graceful and fresh at the same time, despite all its fruit fullness. Our perspective: With increasing bottle maturity, the drinking pleasure of this first-class Sangiovese increases even more! SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid ruby. Deep savoury cherry nose with hints of pine. Racy cherry fruit on the palate with fine coating tannins. Long, vibrant and concentrated. Gorgeous length and freshness." Jancis Robinson
"Ripe, sweet plum, cherry and blackberry flavors are complemented by iron and tobacco accents in this suave red. Shows fine balance and texture, with well-integrated tannins and acidity and a long, mouthwatering finish." Wine Spectator
"A debut on the Place this year from a vintage hailed as one of the best in the last decade. Grapes come from a 30-hectare vineyard bought in 2017 by Belgian businessman Marcel van Poecke who has invested heavily in replantings and new cellar facilities. The texture and overall feel here are lovely - powerful and succulent bramble fruits fill the palate, gliding across the tongue while coffee grounds and dried herbs settle in the background giving structure and definition. This has an aerial quality with real finesse." Decanter
"This is so aromatic and floral with cedar, dried roses, and black cherries. It’s full-bodied, yet so refined and tight with silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Tight and focused. Needs time to open, but shows beautiful finesse and focus." James Suckling
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pure and classic expression of the vintage with bright fruit tones, wild cherry, toasted nut, blue flower and forest floor. Whereas the other wines in the Poggio Antico portfolio undergo aging in smaller tonneaux, this wine is aged in large Slavonian casks instead. You taste the lift and brightness of the fruit, and it's all quite lovely. Grapes are sourced across a 13-hectare site at a very high 500 meters in elevation. The name of this area is I Poggi, and the soils here are a bit lighter and rockier with both schistous galestro and limestone alberese. I love the delicate approach here, the intensity of those floral aromas, and the silky nature of the mouthfeel. This classic Brunello really stands out." Wine Advocate
"Classic Sangiovese aromas of underbrush, wild berry and new leather mingle with whiffs of camphor. Supremely elegant, the focused palate shows precision and great energy, featuring juicy red cherry, pomegranate, white pepper and black tea set against chiseled, refined tannins. Vibrant acidity keeps it balanced while a salty mineral note lingers on the close. Fantastic showing." Wine Enthusiast

“Biserno” Toscana IGT 2020
Unique Supertuscan made from Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. A ripe bouquet of dark fruit and excellently integrated, spicy oak notes, with a delicious hint of freshly ground coffee and cocoa. Powerful elegance, great finesse, polished tannins and admirable independence on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Smells wild - herbal and beautifully floral on the nose with ripe blackberry flavours. Round and supple, full-bodied and structured with fleshy tannins that also have a cool, chalky mineral edge that adds some minerality and freshness to the palate that balances the ripe, sweet black and blue fruits. I like the lingering powdery element and this wine has a certain spiciness and sophistication - cool blue fruits, cola, vanilla, cedar and toast. I find it hard to categorise it as Tuscan, as it smells and tastes more like an old-school Bordeaux or a Californian wine. Massive, heavy, with lots of oak and extraction." Decanter
"The nose captures the wistfulness of one last warm autumn day, with aromas of vanilla and berries floating above an herbal, woody earthiness. On the palate, the berries and herbs swirl together into a mocha finish, but contoured tannins and notable acid balance the fruit." Wine Enthusiast
"Intriguing berry-chocolate bouquet, nuances of spices and macchia; the attack is very supple, the acidity perfectly integrated, in harmony with the powdery tannins, powerful and yet with a lot of finesse right up to the spicy-herbal berry finish. Excellent style." Vinum
"This is a rich and profound wine with round tones of black fruit, spice, smoked tobacco and tarry smoke. The Biserno is shapely and generous with a full-bodied attack accentuated by crushed stone and pencil shavings. This opulent, cellar-worthy wine offers plenty of intensity and texture." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Biserno is one of the best wines I've ever tasted here. Rich yet vibrant, the 2020 presents a much more restrained style than used to be the norm. There's still plenty of intensity, but energy and vibrancy have replaced volume as signatures. Espresso, menthol, liquorice, cloves and leather are some of the many notes that unfold in this powerful, elegant Maremma red wine. The wonderful flavours of the franc open up the finish effortlessly." Vinous
"A majestic blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, a bouquet that opens with a slight buzz to then reveal itself in its fullness, blackcurrants, with undergrowth, capers from Pantelleria, orange peel, a drink with salty tannins and persistence, with a mentholated finish." Luca Gardini
"Very attractive nose with ripe blackcurrants, spiced chocolate, grilled thyme, hazelnuts and bacon. Also notes of tobacco and cedar. Full bodied, so refined and polished with layers of finely chiselled tannins evenly distributed across the wine and beautifully integrated. Flourishing fruit with savoury herbs, peppermint and violets. Very long and persistent with a steady, mineral impression on the finish." James Suckling
"Dark, bright ruby red colour. Very fragrant and expressive nose of cassis, blackberries, fine mint, a hint of precious wood and milk chocolate, with a rich blackcurrant finish. Full-bodied on the palate, with an enormous amount of sweet melting, polished, embedded in tightly woven tannins, a noble liquorice note, comes back juicy in the back, very long, elegant, powerful." Barolo Riserva DOCG 2016
Viettis Barolo Riserva with grapes from Castiglione Falletto is matured for two years in large wooden barrels, then in steel tanks and then for several years in the bottle. Classic bouquet of wild berries, cherries and rose petals. Rusty minerals are accompanied by violets and candied orange peel. Juicy on the palate and extremely fresh and agile for its age, with wonderful balance and equilibrium. An inspiring wine that still has many good years ahead of it, but is already completely convincing today. SUPERIORE.DE
"Still showing primary fruit flavors of cherry and black currant, this red is also well-structured and sleek, with lively acidity and a dense matrix of tannins. Mineral, rose hip and underbrush accents complete the picture. This still needs time." Wine Spectator
"Spicy, complex and very structured. Spicy sour berries, cranberries and ashy minerals with ripe stems, rosehips and hints of tar, liquorice, balsamic and blood orange. On the palate, it is very powerful and broad-shouldered. But if you let it breathe, this Barolo will certainly become a little more airy and perfumed." James Suckling
"This wine is a masterpiece that demonstrates the exceptional potential of the vintage and the skill of this legendary producer. The wine opens with a seductive bouquet of preserved cherries in spirits, complemented by a medley of sweet and savoury spices. Candied liquorice adds depth and complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is firm and densely packed with dark fruit, revealing its true power and structure. It's built for the long haul, with the potential to develop over decades, a real powerhouse." Wine Enthusiast

The "it" according to Freud: It is instinct and unbridled passion (with which this wine was also made) without conditions, without rules, beyond space and time, logic and morality. It knows neither good nor evil. It is subject to only one principle: absolute pleasure.
Intense, deep ruby red colour. Aromas of black and red cherries are complemented by sweet spices, aromatic herbs, liquorice and undergrowth on the captivating nose. Lush and seamless on the palate, with an understated elegance in the flavours of red cherries, juniper, cinnamon, sweet pipe tobacco, minerals and candied rose petals. The long, soft finish is almost endless. Only produced in the best years, this rare Primitivo in Riserva quality is one of the best representatives of its kind! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, rich ruby red colour. Intense and very appealing nose, presents itself with notes of blackberry, cassis and many spices, in the background of olive paste. Fills the palate full, dark blackberry fruit, cassis, some coffee liqueur, lingers for a long time with a carpet of spices." Falstaff
"A waft of leafy herbs and tobacco is a fragrant opener for this silky red, with lovely balance. Shows seamless integration of lightly juicy acidity and a core of dense, fine-grained tannins, offering a range of dried cherry and fig fruit, strawberry preserves, spiced orange peel and mint tea flavors, plus minerally earth and smoke accents. The lasting finish echoes the ripe fruit alongside a zesty skein of ground spices." Wine Spectator

This wine is the essence of Sangiovese from the municipality of Radda and the result of a rigorous selection of Sangiovese grapes from the estate's best vineyards. An elegant, terroir-influenced red that (in Sean's words) "is made the way we like it."
Bright ruby-garnet colour. Appealing, precisely characterised nose with pronounced notes of raspberry and some pomegranate. Fine fruit, freshness and a good acidity structure in the attack, also showing a distinctive tannin, which recedes in character after a few minutes of further aeration. Uno presents a dark, virile expression of Sangiovese from Radda. Like all of Sean O'Callaghan's wines, it has plenty of character and personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant ruby red colour. Black cherries and butter biscuits on the nose, carried by fine spice notes, pepper, wet stone, forest berries again on the finish. On the palate with dense, juicy tannins and clear fruit, spans a wide arc, comes in many layers, energetic and salty in the aftertaste." Falstaff
"The 2020 Uno, the estate's top bottling, is another highly distinctive wine in this range from Tenuta di Carleone. Lively acids cut through a core of Sangiovese fruit in this still nervous, taut wine." Vinous
"Bright and juicy red berry character with red spices, savoury herbs and dried orange peel on offer. Medium-bodied, polished and refined with a juicy, fresh nature. Chalky and mineral with a structured, lingering finish." James Suckling

“Vigna Grande Cerzito” Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2019
On the full bouquet we find ripe dark fruits complemented by spiced oranges, sage and mint with a hint of green olive. On the palate, velvety textures are contrasted by cooling acids, while polished black fruits wash over the senses, leaving a mix of salty minerals and fine tannins with a hint of violet flowers. The finish is long, packed with masses of ripe blackberries, plums and sweet herbal tones, but also perfectly structured and, for all its youthfulness, very balanced and harmonious. Luigi Moio and his team have interpreted this vintage brilliantly and once again set new standards with this single-vineyard Aglianico. SUPERIORE.DE
"Darkly floral and intense, the 2019 Taurasi Riserva Vigna Grande Cerzito slowly awakens in the glass with a display of crushed blackberries, incense and exotic spice, complicated by hints of flowery undergrowth. This is like pure silk on the palate, polished and cool-toned in feel, with a balsamic tinge to its ripe red and black fruits. Its tannins come forward through the finish, long and staining, leaving an echo of licorice and spice to linger on and on." Vinous

Barolo “Campè" DOCG 2020
Almost every year, Barolo Campè takes top places among its high-calibre competitors. Fittingly, the majestic red wine bears the king of beasts, a lion, on its ornate yellow label. We think: There could hardly be a better graphic interpretation of this deep and stately wine. An all-round successful experience. Aromas of flowers and berries on the nose, with notes of vanilla and a hint of rosebud, full-bodied and very concentrated, with great, initially still chewy tannins and a long, powerful final. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barolo Campè 2020 is an attractive, open-knit Barolo from La Spinetta. There is no mistaking that the aromas and flavours are rather forward for such a young wine, suggesting some winemaking challenges. Sweet dried cherries, mint, spice, leather and tobacco linger." Vinous
"The La Spinetta 2020 Barolo Campè depicts a lion on the label that represents the "king of wines, the wine of kings" as Barolo is often described. It has a dark core of fruit with smoky layers of campfire ash and flinty stone. The definition is medium-sharp and the wine reveals a darkly concentrated appearance. The bouquet is still a little closed at this young stage and in need of a more cellaring." Wine Advocate
"Rich and inviting Barolo with notes of peach stone, sandalwood, red cherries, sweet basil and potpourri. It is full-bodied and comprehensive with fine-grained, powdery tannins. Powerful fruit. Try it from 2027 onwards." James Suckling

“Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2018
Monteverro - a classic French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - is a great cru from the Maremma and brims with opulence and diversity. Rich, dark ruby with a black core. Incredibly rich in aromas of dark fruits, chocolate and spices, soft, full body, polished tannins. It is impossible to exaggerate the joy of the magnificence of this wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"This vintage of Monteverro's premium red wine (made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) has light green aromas reminiscent of blackberries, grilled herbs and potting soil. It was an uneven growing season with a cool and wet spring followed by a hot summer." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Monteverro is classy, elegant and polished. Lifted aromatics and silky tannins frame this decidedly understated Maremma red. Crushed flowers, spice, menthol, licorice, lavender and dried herbs are all finely laced together. This is such an engaging wine." Vinous
"Sparkling, powerful ruby violet. Compact nose with notes of juicy, dark blackberries, black cherries and currants, fine spice in the background. Full-bodied and gripping on the palate, shows firm, grippy tannins, builds up well, firm pressure on the final and tobacco in the aftertaste." Falstaff
"Blackcurrant and black liquorice with dried flowers and sandalwood. Full-bodied, really racy and powerful with great tannins. Flavourful and very long. Needs time to develop. Give it time until 2024 and beyond." James Suckling

“Porphyr” Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige Terlano DOC 2021 · MAGNUM
Dark, aromatic, full-bodied Lagrein Riserva. Smells of dark fruit, herbs, liquorice, toasted oak and minerals. Expansive and very generous on the palate, profound and endowed with marvellous minerality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, shiny purple red with a fine rim. Dense and concentrated nose of fully ripe blackberries and cranberries, with dark chocolate and a hint of lavender. Smooth on the palate, concentrated fruit on a velvety carpet of tannins, still somewhat youthful, but of great elegance." Falstaff
"Deep cherry and plum flavours combine with sage, white pepper and cloves as the Porphyry Lagrein Riserva 2021 shimmers from the glass. Silky on the palate, the tension quickly increases as the tart wild berries saturate and the grippy tannins gather towards the end. The wine finishes with dramatic length and a powerful structure. Bitter notes of liquorice linger." Vinous
"Inviting aromas of balsamic, vanilla and clove; lush black fruits and smooth, rounded tannins on the palate." Decanter
"Creamy and fine-grained, with a supple palette of pureed blackberries, black cherry compote, violets, thyme and graphite notes. This medium to full-bodied version is elegant, with fine-grained tannins that define the lingering, savoury finish." Wine Spectator
"Lively and attractive on the nose, with dark berries, chocolate and hints of cured meat and sweet spices. Exciting and juicy with many layers, a medium to full body and fine, structured tannins. I like the mineral aspect, with notes of shells and crushed stones on the finish. Firm and long. It grows on the finish." James Suckling

“Gallule” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM
Gallule is the flagship of the compelling Chianti Classico range and is extremely finely balanced and precise. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested from an old terraced vineyard in Castellina in Chianti. It offers depth and a long sequence of delicate nuances with dark fruits, balsamic herbs, liquorice and freshly ploughed potting soil. This Gran Selezione is a complete and beautiful wine, executed in a very classic style to boot. Gallule is all about the little details, which reveal themselves with each sip. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful, sparkling ruby. Opens with rich notes of dark cherry, blackberry, and some leather. Nice pressure on the palate, creamy, fine tannin." Falstaff
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is for the first time a Gran Selezione. It emerges from the old terraces in Gagliole's Castellina estate. Black cherry, plum, leather, menthol and spice build as the 2018 opens in the glass. A wine of texture and resonance, the 2018 has quite a bit to offer." Vinous
"Flowers and blackberries with bark and walnut undertones. Full-bodied with extremely well crafted tannins that give depth and length. Serious balance and structure. Goes on for a long time. Very clear character here." James Suckling
"This organic wine has been upgraded to Gran Selezione status. With fruit from a terraced vineyard in Castellina in Chianti made with ancient stone walls, the Gagliole 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is an intricate and complicated wine to craft. Sangiovese vines range in age from 20 to 60 years old, and the final blend represents a special match of various sub-plots that changes each year. Fruit selection is key. The results are lucid and especially bright, aromatically speaking, with forest floor, wild cherry, lavender, crushed oyster shell and plum. There's even a touch of smoked ham. Castellina tends to be cooler at night with greater diurnal shifts, and this adds pretty freshness." Wine Advocate

“Alteni di Brassica” Bianco Langhe DOP 2021
Alteni di Brassica - its name "alteni", stone walls that border the vineyards, and "brassica", a yellow spring flower of the region, in no way indicate a wallflower existence. On the contrary, they are synonymous with the region's first Sauvignon Blanc, which Angelo Gaja has been growing since 1983. A highly elegant wine that impresses with its aromatic bouquet, fine fruit, great depth and beautiful length. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Alteni di Brassica 2021 is a beautiful, steely white wine with a lot of varietal character. This is the first vintage to contain fruit from the Gaja family's new vineyards in Alta Langa. Lemon peel, sage, mint, dried herbs, camomile and a hint of tropical fruit linger on the bright, savoury finish." Vinous
"Sliced pears and limes with flavours of pear blossom. A hint of fennel. Medium body. Pretty phenols. Spicy and tangy finish. Some lemon zest." James Suckling
"This wine is currently in a timid phase, although it is quite explosive in terms of mouthfeel with bright peach, citrus and hints of crushed stone. They worked hard to achieve the creaminess of the mouthfeel." Wine Advocate

The Vigna del Sorbo vineyard is located directly in front of the winery. The south-west facing vineyard with Galestro soils covers 8 hectares at an altitude of 450 metres. The Riserva was first produced in 1985 and has been labelled Gran Selezione since the 2010 vintage.
Dark ruby red with light red highlights. Deep and initially unfathomable on the nose. But any spirit of discovery will be enchanted when it opens slowly and very balanced with red cherries, redcurrants, earth, sage and liquorice, revealing more facets with each passing minute. Finally, the mouthfeel shows a similar degree of extreme flavour balance with very fine but still young tannins. This medium-bodied structure, coupled with the wine's natural acidity, is an important guarantee of its great longevity. Our clear conclusion: there is not only a lot to discover here, but also to admire. Chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE
"Promising aromas of raspberries and flowers, with subtle notes of pepper; pithy on the palate, perfectly integrated acidity, lots of juice, power, plump tannins, character and a wonderful spicy final on notes of ripe cherries and sandalwood." Vinum
"Dark ruby red colour with a delicately brightening rim. On the nose, pronounced spicy aromas of ripe wild berries, rich Amarena cherries and clear pepper spice, with a leathery aftertaste. Tight-knit and pithy on the palate, spreads out with grip, very juicy, with a subtle salty undertone, powerful and long with plenty of character, still needs some bottle ageing." Falstaff
"Medium to deep ruby red colour. Spicy, mineral, elegant and a little reserved on the nose. Deep, juicy cherry fruit, supported by the right dose of chewy tannins. Very long. Concentrated, lively and relaxed at the same time." Jancis Robinson
"This wine is elegant, with floral, cherry, raspberry and mineral flavours. A hint of earth shines through, while the finish is graceful." Wine Spectator
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo 2019 is a powerful, virile wine with enormous depth and equally impressive tannins. An explosion of dark fruits, herbs, chocolate, menthol and spices flows from the glass. Big tannins and a hint of rusticity suggest that the 2019 will not be one of the finest sorbos, but it is a good effort for this year." Vinous
"Vigna del Sorbo lies at an altitude of 400 metres and has the classic Galestro soil of Chianti Classico. The warm, south-west facing vineyard typically produces a powerful, intense wine that requires ageing. The 2019 shows all the wild, penetrating characteristics of this site, but it quickly comes into harmony and reveals its balance and precision. The wood-accentuated notes of smoke and vanilla give way to pressed violets, rosemary and liquorice. Luscious red cherry and dark plum flesh is enveloped by long, layered, chalky tannins. The palate reveals an energetic bar of unwavering acidity that gives the wine a linear feel. Fennel and crushed stone linger on the finish." Decanter
"Usually excellent Sangiovese in purity of great elegance from Fontodi, with the step ahead of a great vintage. Nose of freshness, marasche, with officinal hints of citron thyme, mouth with a nice acidic shoulder, salty tannins, crispiness and incisiveness. Persistent." Luca Gardini
"This iconic wine has a whole new energy as it is now part of an exciting range of potential Gran Selezione wines being made at Fontodi. Two new additions to the portfolio (Pastrolo from cool Lamole and Terrazze San Leonlino from Panzano) help to give greater context to the organic 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo. This wine naturally benefits from many years of experience, and the identity of Vigna del Sorbo is well established. Soil connoisseurs, however, will take great pleasure in comparing the Vigna del Sorbo from slate-rich Galestro soils with the calcareous alternative from Terrazze San Leonlino. I lean towards the Vigna del Sorbo because I find the mineral notes of pencil and iron ore so appealing. These dusty notes are rounded out by sweet cherry fruit, plum and spice. Rising alcohol levels can be a problem in sun-drenched Panzano, and the wine team lets the vines grow higher in summer to provide shade and takes other active measures to combat this problem." Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in gift box
Initially youthfully reserved, it needs to be "coaxed" to reveal its aromas of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, underscored by a hint of fresh mint. Impressive on the palate with a blend of sweet spices, lush ripe wild berries and a silky texture balanced by lively acidity and a pleasantly bitter hint of dark chocolate towards the finish. Finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a layer of fine-grained tannins that saturate and promise many years of positive development. Allegrini has hit the bull's eye with this wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour with a violet shimmer. Inviting aroma of ripe blackberries, cherries and sweet tobacco on the nose. A finesse-rich acidity on the palate, precise fruit flavours paired with spicy notes, finely integrated tannins and a long final." Falstaff
"Aromas of plums and black cherries, which fade into notes of black tea, violets and savoury spices. The palate is balanced and highlights both fruity and non-fruity flavours in equal measure. Black and red berries share the stage with notes of espresso, aniseed, dried leaves and limestone. Fine tannins and an expressive acidity make this wine a flagship." Wine Enthusiast
"The Allegrini 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a classic profile for air-dried fruit made with appassimento. A hint of candied cherry adds lift and intensity to the bouquet, which is otherwise characterised by heavier tones of black fruit, candied cherry, red liquorice and sweet earth or potting soil. It finishes with a balanced, full-bodied style." Wine Advocate
"On the one hand a modern interpretation of Amarone, on the other hand dense, fresh and alpine in flavour, full of alpine herbs and spruce sap. Bitter cocoa, ground espresso and the usual pithy tannins of dried grape skins, menthol and black liquorice. Immense, powerful and fresh." James Suckling
"A cool, damp vintage that has given this Amarone a balsamic, leafy character without losing any of its concentration. Rich and lively, it opens with flavours of mint chocolate, coffee and black pepper, while a background of woody tannins supports creamy black and purple fruits. The good acidity softens the richness and the final is characterised by red and blue berries and a leafy note." Decanter
"The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is youthfully restrained and needs coaxing to reveal its aromas of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, underscored by a hint of fresh mint. It impresses with a blend of sweet spices, lush ripe wild berries and a silky texture balanced by lively acidity and a pleasantly bitter hint of dark chocolate towards the finish. The wine finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a layer of fine-grained tannins that saturate and promise many years of positive development. Allegrini has really hit the bull's eye with this wine. Wow." Vinous
"A classic of the type, a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta, aged for 120 days, then 18 months in barriques, black cherry in alcohol on the nose, fresh pepper leaf, peony and nutmeg. Iodised salt on the palate, with a fruity-balsamic finish and a spicy aftertaste." Luca Gardini

“Rosso del Bepi” Veneto IGT 2016
The Quintarelli family rigorously decides when the top wine may be an Amarone and when - depending on the climate and yield - the result is "declassified" and a small quantity is then named after the founder's nickname and released onto the market. Connoisseurs are almost waiting for it, because this extremely rare wine has it all and more than does justice to the founding father.
Strong, bright ruby red colour. Complex berry flavour with a potpourri of red fruits, notes of fig and a perfectly orchestrated orchestra of spices. Powerful and warm on the palate, with great harmony and depth, the well-defined muscles and a carefully woven tannin structure guide this balsamic red into a long, impressive final. With this outstanding quality, it really doesn't matter whether the wine is called Amarone or not ... Giuseppe "Bepi" would be proud of the result! SUPERIORE.DE
"There will be no Amarone in 2016, but there will be a new vintage of Rosso del Bepi. This is dark and brooding in the glass, youthfully restrained, with a bouquet of dried roses and violets. An intricate hint of incense gives way to cherry sauce and dark chocolate. It's rich and complex, but also remarkably energetic, with a tactile mineral core highlighting the tart red berry fruit, while a hint of sour orange provides a tart note towards the finish. The 2016 finishes with medium length and a chalky feel that tapers off with hints of liquorice and tangerine. This sexy and energetic Rosso del Bepi will win many hearts." Vinous
"Restrained black cherries, elegant spices, incense and eucalyptus leaves. The attack is soft and refined with a full body, velvety tannins and zesty yet integrated acidity. Long and intense flavors of cherries and spices. Toasty finish." James Suckling

Neris Brunello 2019 is a classic wine with pleasant contrasts and a focussed structure. Ripe dark fruit and autumnal spices contrast with savoury herbs and a hint of animal musk. The palate is silky, cool and airy, with a noticeable inner sweetness in the polished cherry and berry flavours, then veers more towards inner earth and minerals, showing beautifully articulated and grippy tannins. Streamlined and compact in the mouth with a lively, racy finish and great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dense, delicately reductive bouquet that beguiles with plenty of typical cherry and pomegranate fruit as well as blue fruits such as plums, backed by tobacco and dark gianduja chocolate as well as balsamic nuances. Elegant, incredibly full-bodied palate with juicy contours and grippy, yet sweet tannins. A grippy, animating, long final with cranberry juice, orange peel and delicately reductive, savoury notes. Good potential." Weinwisser
"Powerful ruby colour with a light garnet rim. Very appealing, open nose, with notes of wild raspberry and blackberry, plus fresh tobacco and a fine spicy note. Polished and fine on the attack and on the palate, showing lots of juicy, dark fruit paired with dense tannins, spans a wide arc, very good drinking flow." Falstaff
"Redcurrants and lavender, followed by layers of dried herbs and spices. Full-bodied and lush on the palate with chewy tannins. Persistent long finish with citrus flavours. Still young, healthy and concentrated. Very attractive now and in the future." James Suckling
"The core of ripe cherry fruit is complemented by woody, mushroomy, ferrous, spicy and savoury flavours in this intense red, with a long, resonant aftertaste. Although balanced, it could use a few more years to reach its sweet spot." Wine Spectator
"The Casanova di Neri 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows dense fruit tissue with hints of undergrowth, pressed rose, light cherry, tobacco and balanced oak spice. This wine definitely has a special furrow. It offers a ripe, round texture with good acidity, followed by fine, chalky tannins. This is an impressive quality. In fact, this is one of the best village Brunellos that Giacomo Neri and his family have produced to date." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a lovely floral bouquet, mixing rose petal, lavender and violet with hints of worn leather and dusty earth. This is a model of balance and purity, with crisp wild berry fruits guided by fresh acidity as a cascade of sweet spice gives way to fine-grained tannins toward the close. It finishes impossibly long and staining yet still fresh, tapering off classically structured and dry. The future is bright for this wonderfully harmonious White Label Brunello from Casanova di Neri." Vinous
"A great classic of the house, a work of impeccable finesse between land and cellar for an emblematic product. On the nose, raspberry, a hint of white pepper, a touch of laurel and peony, then nuances of sweet liquorice. Salty and juicy in the mouth, with raspberry and floral notes." Luca Gardini

Brunello di Montalcino “Pianrosso” DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Pianrosso comes from a south-west facing vineyard in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone at an altitude of around 300 metres with mainly Galestro soils. It is dark, rich and deeply seductive, showing ripe black fruit enveloped in hints of gravel, sage and exotic spices. Although it has a velvety and almost creamy texture, it finds harmony through juicy acids and a blend of ripe black cherries and plums. Notes of liquorice and baker's chocolate balance the salty minerality and fine-grained tannins of the Pianrosso in a long and dramatic final. For a wine with such power, this is a beautiful symmetry. Definitely put it away for a few more years. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Cru is a selection of the best vines. Dark, spicy bouquet, extremely complex and multi-faceted, beguiling with fresh, ethereal, smoky and herbaceous notes reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs, with mineral, salty hints and floral nuances (rose petals, violet blossom), backed by redcurrant. Dense and powerful on the palate with a core of fresh, juicy fruit, very cleverly arranged, skilfully framed by fine, polished, almost sweetish tannins that linger on forever, very elegant, with dark, ethereal-balsamic spicy notes on the long final." Weinwisser
"Sparkling ruby colour with a bright garnet rim. Finely drawn, appealing nose with clear notes of rosehip, crisp cherries, some blood orange and clove. Opens on the palate with pithy, gripping tannins, flows calmly, with a lovely sweet mellowness on the finish, very good tension, savoury and long." Falstaff
"Sweet berries and cherries on the nose, along with fresh violet and lilac notes. Full-bodied with juicy tannins and a spicy finish that opens up on the palate. Lots of ripe cherry flavour. Also tar. A rich and multi-layered Pianrosso. One of the bigger, riper wines of the vintage." James Suckling
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso tempts the imagination with a darkly alluring bouquet that keeps the taster at the edge of the glass as a cooling whiff of smoke gives way to dried flowers, cedar and exotic spice. It flows across the palate with textures of pure silk, finessed and graceful, with depths of intense red and black fruits that slowly saturate. The 2019 turns inward upon itself through the finish, tannic and long with notes of licorice and cacao bean. This is a serious rendition of Pianrosso that will require patience to enjoy fully. That said, it’s sure to be worth the wait." Vinous
"Pianrosso is a selection from the vineyard of the same name: 11 hectares in the lower south-east of Montalcino. The grapes were harvested between 11 September and 4 October 2019, which suggests a classic vintage. It shines with its earl grey tea aroma, combined with dark cherry, cinnamon, liquorice and a floral bouquet. The fruit character is very dark and precise; marvellous in this vintage. Full-bodied, dense and velvety with firm, long yet integrated acidity, it tapers off on the finish, but this is a sign of its elegance." Decanter
"The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso opens with a broad and all-encompassing bouquet of dried cherries or cherry pie with crust, plum cake and rose potpourri. There are obvious oak tones, but they fade into underbrush, grilled herbs and the generous texture of this wine. Even the 15% alcohol content disappears into the fleshy fruitiness of the wine. Certainly this is a wine that needs more bottle age to develop the suppleness and beautiful freshness of such an important Sangiovese." Wine Advocate
"A cornerstone of the typology, we are in the south-east region of the denomination, a stone's throw from Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Rich nose, notes of red mulberries, then rosemary and hints of Peranzana olives. The flavour is spicy, with a return of red mulberry and iodised nuances." Luca Gardini

“Ilatraia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Opulent nose of red berries, pleasant smoky notes and fine herbal spice. Opulent and round on the palate, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but firm structure and the necessary seriousness through to the long, soft finish. The well-integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis here in a very harmonious way with the rather strict and taut Petit Verdot style. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich purple-red colour, almost impenetrable. Intriguing, dense nose, ripe plums, red pepper, herbs, chocolate, cigar box, subtly fleshy. Lots of blackberry on the palate, structured without being overwhelming, animating acidity structure, ripe tannins, lingering, elegant final." Falstaff
"The nose is intensely spicy and warm with chili pepper and highlighting an umami meatiness. Cherries, blackberries and chocolate on the palate nonetheless give way again to pepper notes, from fresh cracked black peppercorns to chilis, through a hot finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Ilatraia is a potent red that is going to need at least a few years in bottle to soften. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of black fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice, incense and lavender. A wine of substance and power, Ilatraia is not as forthcoming as most wines from the Tuscan coast. I suspect the high percentage of Petit Verdot in the blend has a lot to do with that. This is a superb showing, especially for a vintage that yielded generally lighter wines on the coast." Vinous
"The Brancaia 2020 Ilatraia shows an inky dark appearance with lots of black and purple fruit intensity. This beautiful estate is nestled within the thick forests of Radda in Chianti, one of the wildest corners of the appellation. This vintage is slightly more accessible in terms of mouthfeel, but it still delivers ample spice, grilled herb and black pepper." Wine Advocate
"Very pure and attractive fruit character here with blackberries and blueberries with crushed violets, dark chocolate and savory herbs undertones. Some citrus peel and wet stones, too. Full-bodied with super fine tannins and crunchy acidity that gives tension and energy to the fruit. So polished and silky. Very long." James Suckling
