A pure Frappato is a rarity, as this very late-ripening grape variety is usually blended with others. Frappato thrives on the sandy soils of Vittoria in south-east Sicily and produces a complex wine with race and character. A floral bouquet with aromas of cherry and peach, notes of strawberry on the palate, slightly mineral and very energetic, with a finish reminiscent of apple and orange peel. Ideal food companion. Rare cuvée of white vinified Sorbara and Trebbiano. Delicate floral fragrance, violets, pears and citrus notes, bold and fresh. Delicately creamy on the palate, fills the palate wonderfully, pears and citrus again, really prances over the tongue with fine perlage and lasts quite long with good freshness. The single-varietal Pandolfo matures for 9 months, 70% in steel tanks and 30% in Slovenian oak barrels, before maturing for at least 3 months in the bottle. The result is a dark ruby red colour in the glass. On the nose, it seduces with an aromatic bouquet reminiscent of cherries, liquorice, raspberries and spices. The flavour is complex and well-structured with soft and well-defined tannins. Medium-long final. SUPERIORE.DE

Karmis, an animating white wine based on Vernaccia, comes from the lower Tirso Valley in the area between Cabras and Baratili - where the climate is typically Mediterranean with mild winters, little rain and very hot, breezy summers. And so its colour is brilliant and deep yellow, the bouquet delicate but persistent with hints of fresh fruit. Soft, full and with good flavour correspondence on the palate. L'Atto exudes a bouquet of crushed purple candy, freshly cut plums and a hint of musk. It is soft and fleshy in style, while silky textures reveal an opulent display of ripe black fruits and sweet herbal notes on the palate. Emilio Rotolo's Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso draws you into the glass with its deep, peppery black raspberry flavours, complemented by pretty violet and lavender tones. Wrapping the palate in a cloak of dark, ripe, textured fruit, it is incredibly elegant and polished, but also tangy. A layer of sweet tannins frames the expression and caresses the cheeks, while citrus fruit and a hint of spice linger. This is a very nice wine that will benefit from a slight chill. SUPERIORE.DE
