Wine

Terre di Chieti IGT was created in 1995 when the IGT category was first introduced throughout Italy. It is complemented by the more site-specific title Colline Teatine IGT, which focuses only on the hills around the provincial capital of Chieti. The Pecorino grape variety, which has in the meantime returned strongly to the focus of international wine lovers, thrives particularly well here and produces complex, mineral white wines on the mostly clay and limestone soils.

Straw yellow with greenish reflections. Fine bouquet of sage and citrus fruits. Fresh and with a certain pressure on the palate, with very good harmony and impressive fruit-acid play, final rounded finish with an interesting herbal spiciness. SUPERIORE.DE

The grapes for the Soave Classico "Vintage Edition", vinified according to the Veronese tradition, come from Bertani's vineyards on the western slope of the volcanic Soave hill, north of the castle. Intense straw yellow colour with golden reflections. The multi-layered nose is reminiscent of peach, pear and apricot. Soft and mouth-filling on the palate, lingering and persistent. You can feel the power of the terroir, this is anything but a normal Soave Classico. SUPERIORE.DE

The vines for Mediaevum Vernatsch grow in the southern Eisack Valley at the foot of the Schlern massif at around 400-480 metres above sea level. Brilliant, brightening ruby colour. Fine, fragrant nose of delicate cherry flavours, violets, very clear. Juicy on the palate, shows good tension, flavours of sour cherries and raspberries, delicate tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Markus Prackwieser produces exemplary wines from vineyards on the steep slopes of the Schlern at an altitude of 400 to 800 metres at his Gump Hof winery in the Eisack Valley. The porphyry soils on which the vines for the first organic wine from the successful co-operative winery grow are of volcanic origin, and the former lava flows gave the elegant, fresh wine its name. It is a perfectly successful symbiosis of the organic origins of the Bolzano region and the contemporary high standards of fresh and crisp South Tyrolean white wines. Bright straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. Full bouquet of ripe apple, peach and hints of tropical fruit. The first alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in steel tanks on the fine lees at a controlled temperature and after a waiting period of at least six months, the wine is bottled. The bottles remain at a constant temperature of 12°C so that the wine can undergo its second fermentation and mature on its own yeasts, which remain at the bottom of the bottle as a light sediment (note: it is not filtered!).

An animating cherry red colour with violet reflections and a yeasty cloudiness due to the lack of filtration. A surprisingly cheeky nose of wild strawberry and redcurrant, very fresh and accessible. The palate is vibrant with lots of raspberry and traces of rhubarb, the exciting interplay is flanked by delicate yeast tones and a wonderfully present acidity and ensures an impressive race and class that only the Lambrusco grandmaster Christian Bellei can conjure up in the bottle! Pinot Bianco "Langfeld" becomes "Longarei" with the 2022 vintage: The grapes for this Pinot Bianco come from altitudes of up to 700 metres around the municipality of Montan. Delicate greenish yellow, fine bouquet of green apple, lemon, chalk and some crushed rock. Fine texture in the drink, with good structure on the palate and excellent depth. In the spicy-fruity finish then a precise, linear acidity and pear and apple notes. Great and very balanced! SUPERIORE.DE

Le Rocchette is a powerful, driving Barbera d'Asti Superiore. Dried rose petals, crushed rock, iron, incense and red-coloured fruit impart a remarkable mineral and savoury intensity. This deceptively medium-bodied Barbera has enormous power. It is a great example of Asti at its best. Floral accents lift the balsamic and savoury finish. SUPERIORE.DE
