The grapes for the spicy, persistent Contrada come from over 50-year-old Nero d'Avola vines. Rich, lush bouquet of black cherries and plums, wonderfully fruity aromas on the palate with notes of leather, spices and liquorice. Here comes Stella, a beautiful Metodo Classico made from 100% Chardonnay, whose name comes from Barbara's daughter Nina - she always called the fine bubbles in the sparkling wine "stars". Clear bouquet with subtle aromas of fresh brioche and almond notes. On the palate, this dry sparkling wine is filigree, pointed and with a first-class, fine perlage and very good length. Excellent Pinot Grigio, matured in small wooden barrels. Strong straw yellow colour, fruity aroma of apple, pear and fine vanilla, strong character in taste with pleasantly gentle acidity, strength and fullness. Pinot Grigio Sanct Valentin has been convincing for decades and is always one of the highest-rated Pinot Grigio wines in Italy. SUPERIORE.DE

The clay content in the forest soils of this incredible, almost untouched area around Oratorio di San Lorenzo gives the wine a unique note. Rich red with blue-violet reflections. Intense on the nose with notes of medicinal herbs, ripe red berries, blood orange, pepper and spices. On the palate then very precise and clear with dark fruits, a delicious spiciness and tannins that are still firm when young. A beautiful lift of dried herbs (sage, rosemary, lavender and oregano) and, a bit like their Cabernet, this lovely savoury-sweet element that is like oven-roasted cherry tomatoes with roasted vine and white pepper. Essenza is a classic Valtellina Superiore that draws its fruit from the terraced high mountain vineyards in one of the northernmost corners of Italy. Ruby red with garnet-coloured inclusions. Wonderful aromas of dried strawberries, mushrooms and flowers that open up into pure fruit. It is medium-bodied on the palate with appealing depth and intensity. The fine and complex tannins are polished and flattering. Essenza magically balances power and elegance, gaining much of its straightforwardness and focus from the lingering mineral notes of crushed slate or granite that add salty notes to the finish. Intense, compact, ruby red colour. An intense mixture of black raspberry, wild herbs, air-dried meat, thyme and smoke flows from the glass. Refined and lively on the palate with delicate, salty acidity and berry fruit flavours. As it progresses, a beautiful cherry centre with a hint of sweet blood orange that keeps you coming back to the glass. Conte della Vipera is a tribute to the first owners of the castle and the label refers to the 13th century chapel of St John, which is located on the estate. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 to 350 metres above sea level on soils rich in fossilised marine deposits.

The sophistication of this wine is largely due to the composition of the grape varieties: fresh, vertical and aromatic Sauvignon Bianco, soft and tropical Sémillon. Straw yellow in colour with bright green reflections. The bouquet is full and broad and pleasant with notes of flowers, white fruit and pineapple, which combine with citrus notes. A pleasant freshness on the palate, then notes of bergamot and grapefruit on the final. SUPERIORE.DE

Taurasi Vigna Andrea - a rich Aglianico with outstanding depth. On the nose, typical varietal aromas of dark cherries, plums, smoke, cedar wood and tobacco, which develop wonderfully over time. Complex on the palate, with a good portion of velvety tannins and a deep, masculine finish. Great ageing and maturation potential. SUPERIORE.DE

Cellole Gran Selezione impresses with its usual elegance and sophistication. Its masterfully balanced flavour profile of wild berry and blackberry with cassis, blueberry and candied rose is fantastic. On closer inspection, the wine reveals orange peel, rosemary and iron ore. It is a silky and elegant wine with some firm tannin, lots of bright fruit and a hint of crisp acidity. Undoubtedly a great wine with great potential! SUPERIORE.DE

Maso Michei is located high up in a secluded mountain world in southern Trentino. There, the vines thrive at 790 to 850 metres above sea level on a sun-soaked south-facing slope in pristine nature. In this remarkable location for viticulture, the vines grow slowly and the grapes ripen late. With the acquisition of the 13 ha Maso Michei vineyards in the Valle dei Ronchi above Ala, Martin Foradori Hofstätter is returning to the roots of his ancestors in Trentino.

Dense, deep ruby red. Fresh and straightforward on the palate, with perfectly balanced acidity and rich aromatic nuances with distinct notes of wild berries, strawberries, red currants and delicate hints of undergrowth, nice length. SUPERIORE.DE

Trebbiano Castello di Semivicoli, matured without the use of barrels, exudes an aromatic fragrance of ripe peach, mint and flowers, with mineral notes. Firm, rich, graceful and elegant on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE

Sparkling salmon pink with orange-coloured reflections. Strong aroma of wild berries, yeast and fine bread and yeast flavours. Powerful on the palate, with crisp fruit and perlage, very complex and lively freshness, fine tannins, salty-mineral notes and a very respectable, dry finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"First produced in 1972, Maximum Rosé has a long history. Short skin contact of 10-12 hours gives a wine with red and black cherry hints along with some wild strawberry and a hint of cream. Intense in the mouth and slightly creamy, it features red fruit flavours accompanied by some freshening salinity and a touch of tannic structure. There's ripe sweetness at the core, and a fresh, long finish." Decanter

Pagus Cerbaia is the name of a first-class small plot of land with sedimentary soils. This is where the small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from, 50% of which is fermented in amphorae and 50% in oak barrels after the harvest. The "Selection Rosato", which is only bottled in a few hundred bottles, has an intense floral aroma and captivates the palate in a lively and cheerful way with a lingering spicy note and a wonderfully complex finish. Castello di Ama, one of the highest vineyards in the Classico region, produces one of the most delicious wines in its appellation every year with Ama. The grapes come from the single vineyards Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo, Bertinga and Montebuoni. A fresh wine with youthful charm and flavours of cherry, plum and spices. Clemens Lageder told us: "We were in for a surprise when processing the grapes from this Porer component. When the grapes were tipped, a significant proportion of botrytis berries was found in many of the grapes. The wine was nevertheless bottled. As the wine matured, we got to know and appreciate it more and more. This is how our understanding developed: From initial rejection and uncertainty to appreciation of the influence of noble rot on Pinot Gris. Most of this component became part of the 2020 Porer Pinot Grigio, while we left a small part aside and created this comet." Just 632 bottles of the PIPO TRY comet were filled ... SUPERIORE.DE
