The Ciccio Zaccagnini winery in Bolognano on the hills of Pescara has made a name for itself with its fine wines, but also with a successful combination of art and wine culture.
It all began in 1984 with the presentation of a project by the world-famous Düsseldorf artist and art theoretician Joseph Beuys. It was entitled 'Difesa della Natura' (Defense of Nature). This is already a lot to say about the philosophy of this great winery, which has always belonged to the wine world of Abruzzo.
Every year Zaccagnini succeeds in producing admirable wines that leave nothing to be desired in terms of both quality and quantity. 70% of the wines that never deny their territorial origin are exported all over the world - to 36 countries and five continents.
Today, Ciccio Zaccagnini's son Marcello - who learned his trade as a winegrower from scratch in his parents' winery - continues the legacy and every year brings the winery, which is one of the cornerstones of Abruzzo's viticulture, one step further.
As the demand for wine developed rapidly, the winery located in front of the Majella was expanded in the early 1980s and uncompromisingly trimmed to quality with low yields per hectare. Today, the Azienda Agricola Ciccio Zaccagnini grows autochthonous and international varieties on its own cultivation area of more than 150 hectares and other leased areas.
The beautiful vineyards are carefully managed and controlled by Marcello Zaccagnini. The necessary interventions against known vine diseases are biocompatible. Timely and exclusively manual harvesting ensures that only homogeneous and ripe grapes arrive in the cellar. The grapes, which come from different regions of the region, are carefully processed to ensure a consistent quality from the grape to the wine glass.
The range includes wines that are typical of the region and are distinguished by their high recognition value. The great variety of products takes all tastes into account and ranges from fresh rosés and Capsico Rosso to the ambitious San Clemente Riserva. SUPERIORE.DE
"From the precisely defined base wines to the demanding Montepulciano site wines, all wines are powerful and impressively combine their typical Abruzzo character with international taste. Gambero Rosso
