“Verha” Rosso Basilicata IGT 2023
Verha Rosso is a single-varietal Aglianico produced by Elena Fucci in a seductively fresh style. In the glass, it presents an abundance of ripe raspberries and blueberries, accompanied by minty herbs and a hint of smoke. On the inside, it is juicy and perfumed, with energising notes of mandarin orange balancing the wild berry fruit. A delicately bitter citrus flavour and a salty note make every sip an unforgettable experience. This must be THE wine for every day, and that's exactly what Elena meant, a thousand thanks for that! “Sceg” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2022 (BIO)
Dark and initially a little brooding, Sceg shimmers from the glass with a rich and earthy blend of plum sauce, brown spices and crushed autumn leaves. The wine is silky smooth and balanced by vibrant acidity, while a contrasting wave of black fruit with citrus flavours washes over the senses. Smoky nuances and hints of ash resonate. Yet it finishes remarkably fresh, leaving a subtle hint of mineral tannins that remind Basilicata connoisseurs that this is a young Aglianico in its purest form. The grapes for Sceg come from several small plots with old vines in Barile. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dried black fruit with some herbs and spices. Ripe but also juicy and fresh, with simple flavors and a tasty, lightly peppery finish. Slightly simple but quite well balanced." James Suckling
"A fresh red wine with notes of black raspberry, plum skin, singed orange peel and dried herbs that combine with dense, fine tannins. Notes of liquorice, minerals and spices emerge on the finish, but it still needs some time in the cellar to reveal its secrets." Wine Spectator
"The Aglianico del Vulture SCEG 2022 blossoms in the glass with a dark mix of dried violets, crushed stones and blackberries with citrus notes. It flows across the palate, savoury yet cool, with depths of dark red fruit and tactile minerality that emerges towards the end. The finish is grippy and long but still fresh, leaving notes of tangerine and a hint of tobacco and ash." Vinous

“Titolo Pink Edition” Rosato Basilicata IGT 2023 (BIO)
The rare Titolo Rosato is not only a feast for the eyes, but also makes a first-class impression with its fresh and spicy bouquet of mandarins, cherries, sage and sweet smoke. On the palate, this freshness is again combined with a taut yet silky texture, followed by tart, lemony notes and a lovely saltiness that provide plenty of excitement and drinking flow. This rosato is anything but banal and ends in an exciting finish with green apple and exotic spices. Put it away for a year, because it is an Aglianico. Very well done! SUPERIORE.DE
"A deep cherry-colored rosé that has notes of dried strawberries, plums, cassis and dried flowers. It’s rich and fruity with medium to full body and a light tannin grip." James Suckling
"The 2023 Titolo Pink Edition is another fantastic achievement, boasting a gorgeous bouquet of wild strawberries, spice, lavender and wet stone. It is silky smooth with a mineral note balancing ripe red and blue fruits and zesty acidity. The final leaves a grippy sensation while sour citrus notes water the mouth and a lingering finish of sour cherries lingers." Vinous

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Classico DOC 2021 (BIO)
Elena Fucci's exceptional Titolo wine is built for the long haul. It will continue its steady development for at least the next 20 years, which is why it is particularly enjoyable when aged in magnum format. Dark ruby red in colour, the bouquet has aromas of ripe red fruit and a fine woody spice. The wine is assembled with enormous precision, offering a balanced intensity and a beautiful degree of fruit purity that speaks both in favour of the Aglianico grape and the extreme region that produces it. Titolo impresses with its fine texture and elegantly integrated tannins. This is the kind of masterful Aglianico performance we love. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose is primarily savory, with aromas of balsamic, mushrooms, earth and stone, but medicinal undertones and a drizzle of black-cherry syrup provide nuance. The palate also skews savory at first, but lingering notes of cherry and herbs eventually take center stage. Aggressive acid hurls spicy punches at the dusty tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"The Aglianico del Vulture Classico Titolo 2021 is unmissable with a classic bouquet that blends tart black fruit and citrus notes with exotic spices, incense and ash stone. Seamless and silky to the touch, it is elegant through and through. Crisp red and black berries combine with a mixture of mineral notes and piquant acidity. The tannins only become noticeable on the finish, which is crisp and angular, yet retains a perfect freshness. The 2021 rejuvenates with nuances of liquorice and sage. This racy version of the Titolo impresses on so many levels." Vinous
"The 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo is indeed a classic Elena Fucci and the wine you should buy if you love her distinctive style. It opens with sweet flavours that come from the velvety ripeness of the fruit, but also from the careful ageing in oak. Baked plums, rum cake and dried fruit mingle with honey granules on the nose. The finish of the Titolo is very long and is characterised by an acidic freshness and the grippy tannins typical of this grape variety. In this case, the tannins are not too dry and there is enough power to drive future development in the bottle." Wine Advocate
"An exceptional terroir, from 50-70 year old vines, in one of its favourite cradles, the volcanic soil of Barile. The Titolo is a masterpiece: tension, citrus fruit, pomegranate and a sometimes iodised finish. In the mouth, it is vertical, savoury, with great elegance and depth." Luca Gardini

“Titolo by Amfora” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2021 (BIO)
This genuine Aglianico speciality from 70-year-old vines is aged in terracotta amphorae for 18 months, giving it greater juiciness, freshness and depth. Intense ruby red in colour with garnet hues. Spicy hints of pepper and fruit jam, blackcurrant and tobacco on the cautiously reductive nose. Great structure, complexity and a certain originality on the palate, which, together with a fine minerality, makes it an exceptionally drinkyred. SUPERIORE.DE
"A spicy, sanguine nose features notes of pepper, metal and olives, but violet and black-cherry undertones provide levity. The palate leans into the sanguine, meaty notes of earth and fire, while the fruit also turns darker and deeper, before ultimately plunging into a dark-chocolate finish, which is structured by polished yet firm tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Amphora's 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo is peppery and perfumed with a mentholated herbal nuance that segues into musky blackcurrant and exotic spice. Silky and enveloping, it calms down with a wave of polished red and black fruits, ideally lifted by a cooling acidity, while a minty freshness builds towards the end. The final is structured and long, leaving a layer of crystalline tannins that linger with a hint of fresh rosemary. The Titolo By Amphora shows wonderfully soft contours and vibrant fruit that make it a pleasure to drink despite its youthful state." Vinous
"The 2021 Elena Fucci Aglianico del Vulture from Amphora's organic vineyard has a ripe and fleshy personality with plenty of added texture and richness. On the mid-palate, this wine is full, almost heavy, with blackberries, dried blackcurrants, dusty ash, black liquorice and the blackened crust of toasted bread. As the name of the wine suggests, clay amphorae are used in the winemaking process, so you really experience the dark intensity of the primary fruit. This is a precious and limited edition of 1,800 bottles." Wine Advocate

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG 2020 (BIO)
Titolo Superiore is a selection that is refined for 12 months in tonneaux, followed by 12 months in used barrels and finally 12 months in the bottle. It has a dark, musky style and reveals an earthy bouquet intermingled with grilled herbs and blackcurrants. It flows across the palate like pure silk, gaining further tension as the mineral fruits of the forest slowly come to the fore. Firm and well-proportioned tannins glide into the finish, which is structured, long and almost salty. Citrus fruits and residual acids provide a refined freshness. Wonderful! SUPERIORE.DE
"Broodingly dark fruit with peppercorns, earthy funk and dried black fruit. Chewy and full-bodied on the palate, with bold tannins that still need time to resolve. It slowly opens up with some time in the glass." James Suckling
"The 2020 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Titolo opens with a mentholated freshness, while a cascade of musky blackberry, sage, ash and dried violets meets a hint of sweet smoke. This wine is supple and racy, with a silky texture and a core of tart wild berries. Zesty acidity adds energy, while salty minerals and notes of tart citrus develop towards the finish. The 2020 finishes long and colours the palate with grippy tannins and a pleasant bitterness, but a wonderful freshness remains. This is a dark and radiant beast that requires long cellaring. Elena Fucci has only produced two barrels of this wine." Vinous

Dark ruby red, in the Bouquet aromas of ripe, red fruits and a fine wood spice. Elegant, soft, complex and fresh, the taste is exuberant and very flattering. A masterpiece from the Basilicata! SUPERIORE.DE
"Here's another great vintage from Elena Fucci, the ascending star of a rising wine region in the deep south of Italy. The 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo shows a dark garnet color and robust appearance. Very characteristic of this extreme territory, this is a dark and penetrating wine with etched mineral notes behind blackberry, plum and savory spice. This vintage presents an even darker quality of fruit. In the mouth, you get iron, blood and dark mineral nuances that are absolutely typical of these darkened volcanic soils." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and well-meshed, this is a medium- to full-bodied red, with creamy tannins and a rich note of smoke-tinged mineral underscoring the lovely range of ripe black cherry, dried thyme and fig cake flavors and hints of ground cumin and white pepper. This is round and finely balanced, with a long, lingering finish that echoes the spice and mineral detail." Wine Spectator
"Elena Fucci crafts one single wine. The piercing and focused Titolo exudes incense, violet, dark earth and black cherry. Volcanic soil translates with vibrant energy. Muscular rather than plump and built to last." Decanter

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO)
This strictly limited Riserva is only bottled in the best years. The bouquet is perfect and profound with aromas of dried fruit, blackberries, white smoke and crushed rock. Wonderfully structured on the palate with exact proportions and an almost weightless elegance that makes it one of the best red wines in southern Italy. Still youthfully intense, it still has plenty of time ahead of it. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Crushed raspberries and sour cherries on the nose with chalky, mineral notes and a hint of cooked rhubarb. Supple raspberry fruit with finely honed, long tannins still making their mark and interspersed with oak. Elegant weight on the palate. Very long with a long oak note. Modern approach." Jancis Robinson
"A rich, focused red with a spicy, sanguine edge to the fruit flavours of crushed cherries, black plums and raspberries. Offers a lively profile that coats the firm, chewy tannins well, while accents of stone, dried thyme and sage, orange peel and pink peppercorns linger on the finish." Wine Spectator
"On the nose, deep fruit notes of dried figs, plums and mulberries both accentuate and push back on dominant aromas of grilled meat and pepper. The fruit brightens on the palate, but an enduring earthy spiciness maintains depth, while strong yet polished tannins glide into an unexpectedly fresh, saline finish." Wine Enthusiast
"Honestly, it's hard to put this glass down. The Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo 2018 seduces with a bouquet that brings the taster back down to earth, blending musky tones of animals, incense and grilled herbs with mint and spiced oranges. It coats the palate with a texture of pure silk and seems to float with its medium weight. A saturation of citrusy black fruits slowly builds, accented by inner sage and lavender tones. The 2018 feels nervous on the finish, structured and balanced yet full of tension, like a bomb waiting to explode. Sweet spice and liquorice notes slowly fade away. Elena Fucci has taken the Superiore Riserva Titolo to a whole new level. Forty-eight hours later, it still sings. The 2018 is still a baby in terms of development, but it's almost impossible to resist it now." Vinous

"Some dried sweet spices, ripe red fruit, dried fruit such as figs and a savory touch. I enjoy the brightness and freshness on the palate, with a medium to full body and firm tannins, which are pretty resolved in the lengthy, traditional finish." James Suckling
"The kaleidoscopic Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo 2019 is stunningly beautiful, seducing with a cascade of violets and lavender that is followed by pine shavings, incense and a core of crushed black cherries. It is very structured, with an abundance of mineral red and black fruits flowing over a stream of pure velvet. The 2019 folds in on itself on the final, but retains an exceptional freshness and ends with a pleasantly bitter hint of cocoa, while notes of tobacco fade away. "The Aglianico del Vulture Titolo 2019 is stunning. It opens with an exotic flair that blends smoky plum and lavender with animal musk, ash stone and a hint of sour citrus that enlivens the senses. The palate is silky and supple, quickly gaining youthful tannic tension, but not before offering a taste of mentholated herbal tones and a depth of mineral dark fruit that will take centre stage after a few years of cellaring. The wine finishes incredibly long and structured, leaving a hint of primary concentration lingering under a hint of pretty inner flowers and savoury spice. "Bright, dark ruby garnet. Fragrant nose of dried rose, ripe strawberries, a hint of vanilla, honey in the aftertaste, inviting bouquet. Opens softly on the palate with polished tannin, clear red fruit, stretches finely and elegantly over the tongue, compact tannin presses gently on the palate in the finish." Falstaff
"There's no mistaking the masses of pure, mineral-laden, musky Aglianico del Vulture fruit that wafts up from the 2018 Titolo. It's dark, with violet florals and smoke smoldering in the glass. The silky and pliant textures within wash a polished wave of mineral-tinged black fruits and savory exotic spices across the palate with ease, propelled by zesty acidity. Grippy tannins emerge, yet the mouth waters as a salty flourish lingers, along with hints of licorice and lavender. The 2018 won't be the longest-lived vintage of Titolo, but this beauty will excel easily through medium-term cellaring." Vinous
"Plush aromas of violet, juniper, cherry and bramble berry burst on the nose. Medium in weight, there's a driven, ample feel to the juicy red-cherry and blackberry flavors, with bits of tar and pressed rose arising on the midpalate. Yet, throughout the whole experience, bouncy berry fruit and zesty crushed mineral tones remain constant." Wine Enthusiast

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
Here comes the first vintage of the new Titolo Riserva, which will be bottled exclusively in 400 numbered magnum bottles and will thus hardly appear in the trade. A highly complex red with the scent of dried flowers, blackberry and crushed rock. The tannins are excellently integrated and this wine is already not only a coveted rarity, but a new star in the firmament of southern Italian wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"From magnum. Lustrous mid ruby. Cherry-laced palate with savoury, exotic, spice notes and liquorice. Gorgeous freshness and bite and length. Wonderful vibrant stuff." Jancis Robinson
"The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo Riserva takes things to a whole new level for Elena Fucci. It opens with an intense display of crushed cherry, exotic spices and sweet herbal tones; as the bouquet evolves, it gains haunting richness and a darker fruit profile with marine-tinged minerality and notes of lavender. Its silky textures coast along a medium-bodied framework, as a polished yet dense display of blackberry and currant gives way to saturating spice and a tightly wound web of tannin. This finishes long, intense and structured, leaving the palate drenched in black fruit concentrate, yet all lifted by residual acids. A stunning example of Aglianico and Vulture terroir." Vinous
"Here's a new discovery that I'd like to broadcast far and near. This Riserva is a new wine from Elena Fucci that was initiated with this vintage. It is a limited-edition wine made only in magnums. In fact, I tasted bottle number 1 of 400 made to write this review. The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo is a dark and savory expression with an evolved and profound bouquet that covers all the bases. It offers dried fruit and blackberry with smoke, ash and crushed river stone. That mineral identity is the wine's most important defining characteristic. Aglianico tends to deliver astringent tannins, but this Riserva shows excellent integration and structural management. A new benchmark wine for southern Italy has just been created." Wine Advocate

No writer could have better invented the story of Elena Fucci and her wine Titolo. Elena grew up in a house that stood amidst her grandfather's vineyards. Like her brothers, she wanted to study and leave the rather lonely area. When the first buyers came to the door to visit the vineyards, she changed her mind, convinced grandfather and father to keep the vineyards, commuted some time between her university in Pisa and Basilicata, came back as a doctor of oenology and founded a vineyard where she produced only one wine. And what a guy! Titolo. For years one of the highest awarded wines in Italy.
A woman. A grape variety. A wine. Incredible story.
Titolo means title, heading. The wine is the headliner of Basilicata. The Aglianico grape variety grows at around 600 metres above sea level below the extinct Monte Vulture volcano. The variation here is called Aglianico del Vulture. This is also the name of the DOC area, which covers only 1,500 hectares in the province of Potenza. 7 hectares of which are Elena Fucci's refuge. The vines are around 60 years old and stand on ancient, weathered volcanic rock. Up here the wind always blows, the seasons change from quite cold winters to quite hot summers, as well as the temperature differences between day and night are quite extreme. Wind, mineral-rich volcanic soil and temperature changes - ideal conditions. Anyone who has ever seen her grapes will never forget them, they are real splendid specimens.
Decades ago Aglianico often landed in this area on the tables of the nobles. That's how he got the nickname "Barolo of the South". The comparison is not at all absurd, because elegance, color and structure as well as shelf life can quite resemble a powerful Barolo.
Old vines, modern cellar technology and an ambitious young winemaker.
A wonderful success story for almost 20 years. Enjoy with us many more fantastic vintages of the volcano, which by the way have a wonderful ripening potential. SUPERIORE.DE
